Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of large dose of ambroxol in the treatment of AECB.Methods One hundred and eight cases of AECB patients were randomly divided into study group and control group.The patients of two groups were all given conventional treatment.On the basis of conventional treatment,patients in the study group were given ambroxol hydrochloride injection 30 mg +5% glucose solution 250 mL intravenous infusion,3 times/d;patients in the control group were given ambroxol hydrochloride injection 7.5 mg +5% glucose solution 250 mL intravenous infusion,3 times/d.They were all treated for 7 to 10 days.The treatment effect,signs and symptoms extinction time,CRP,IL-8,TNF-α changes of two groups were observed.Results The symptoms and signs extinction time of study group were significantly shorter than control group,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05);CRP,IL-8,TNF-α of two groups were all reduced after treatment,but the CRP,IL-8,TNF-α level of study group was significantly lower than control group,the difference was statistically significant;The total effective rate of study group and control group were 92.6% and 74.1%,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion The effect of large dose of ambroxol injection in adjuvant treatment of AECB is good,the symptoms extinction time is short,the safety is high,so it is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract:Background: Although bronchodilators and glucocorticoids can reduce the symptoms of cough and asthma to a certain extent, the adverse drug reactions and recurrence after recovery still trouble clinicians. Acupoint catgut embedding is effective in preventing and treating acute recurrence and deterioration of COPD, but its clinical efficacy remains controversial. Therefore, this study evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of acupoint catgut embedding combined with conventional Western medicine for COPD through meta-analysis. Methods: Pubmed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Sinomed, China Knowledge Network, VIP, and Wanfang databases were searched, with a time frame from database creation to November 2022. Meta-analysis was performed with Revman 5.3. Publication bias was assessed by Stata 15.0. Results: Seventeen studies were listed, with a total sample size of 1516 cases. Meta-analysis showed that compared with conventional western medicine, acupoint catgut embedding combined with conventional western medicine could effectively improve the total effective rate of clinical symptoms of stable COPD [RR = 1.21, 95%CI (1.13, 1.29), P < .00001], forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) [mean difference (MD) = 0.04, 95%CI (0.00, 0.09), P = .04],the percentage of forced expiratory volume in 1 second predicted value [MD = 1.13, 95%CI (0.38,1.88), P = .003], acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [MD = -0.73, 95%CI (-1.04, -0.42), P < .00001], COPD assessment test score [MD = -2.39, 95%CI (-3.65, -1.13), P = .0002], the improved medical research council respiratory questionnaire score (mMRC score) [MD = -0.15, 95%CI (-0.29, -0.02),P = .03], 6-minute walk distance [MD = 28.16, 95%CI (17.31, 39.00), P < .00001], the production of inflammatory factor interleukin-8 [MD = -9.65, 95%CI (-10.44, -8.86), P < .00001], but the adverse event rate was comparable[RR = 1.39, 95%CI (0.28,6.91), P = .69]. However, there was no significant difference in forced expiratory volume in 1 second/forced vital capacity and TNF-α between the acupoint catgut embedding combined group and the conventional western medication group. Harbord test showed no significant publication bias. Conclusion: The clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding combined with conventional western medicine for stable COPD is better than that of conventional western medicine, and the safety may be equivalent to that of conventional western medicine, which has the value of further research exploration.
Effects of the Chinese herbal formula San-Huang Gu-Ben Zhi-Ke treatment on stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Abstract:Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Chinese herbal formula San-Huang Gu-Ben Zhi-Ke (SHGBZK) as a treatment for patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) diagnosed with lung-spleen Qi deficiency. Method: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was designed. 98 adults aged between 40 and 80 years with stable COPD diagnosed with lung-spleen Qi deficiency were included. All participants received basic treatment for COPD. Patients in the experimental group took SHGBZK, while the control group took placebo. The primary outcome was the frequency of acute exacerbation. The secondary outcomes were lung function, symptom score, exercise capacity and quality of life. Results: Of 98 patients who underwent randomization, 50 patients in the SHGBZK group and 48 in the placebo group were included in the full analysis set. After 24-week therapy and 28-week follow-up, patients in treatment group had significant improvements in symptom, exercise capacity and quality of life. After Subgroup analysis, the frequency of acute exacerbation in patients with a COPD Assessment Test (CAT) score of at least 10 or a modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) score of at least 2 was significantly lower in the SHGBZK group than in the placebo group. Lung function in patients with frequent exacerbation was significantly higher in the SHGBZK group than in the placebo group. The incidence of adverse events was generally similar in the two groups. Conclusion: SHGBZK had beneficial effects on symptom, exercise capacity and quality of life in stable COPD patients. SHGBZK also had the potential to reduce the frequency of exacerbation and improve lung function in specific groups of COPD patients. Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of ipratropium bromide combined with long-term domiciliary oxygen therapy(LTOT)for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Thirty COPD patients in clinical remission period were randomly divided into treatment group(ipratropium bromide combined with LTOT,n=30)and control group(LTOT only,n= 20).Both groups received oxygen therapy for 15 hours or more per day,treatment group received inhaled ipratropium bromide aerosol twice a day,2 sprays each time.Borg Scale,hospitalization frequency,blood gas analysis,values of PaO2,pulmonary function(FEV1),body mass index(BMI)and six-minute walk distance were examined annually for 3 years.Results All the indications in both groups were significantly improved after treatment(P<0.01).The differences in hospitalization frequency,Borg Scale,PaO2,BMI and six-minute walk distance between two groups were significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Ipratropium bromide combined with LTOT is better in improving quality of life in COPD patients than LTOT alone.
CHARACTERIZATION OF FRACTURES AND MULTIPHASE FLOW IN FRACTURED PERMEABLE ROCKS USING NMR IMAGING TECHNIQUES

Abstract:A new noninvasive method is presented for laboratory characterization of fractures in permeable media using relaxation-weighted NMR imaging techniques. The method is based on the fact that relaxation rates in fractures and those in surrounding porous matrix are substantially different. Thus, by selectively suppressing imaging signals from either fractures or porous matrix, one can highlight fluid distributions in either of these regions so that fractures can be unambiguously identified and surrounding porous structures can be characterized. The advantages over conventional NMR spin-echo imaging are demonstrated. We also demonstrate that the technique can be used to speed acquisitions of images of fluid distributions in porous matrix. In addition, a two-phase displacement experiment was conducted to investigate transport features related to fractured systems.
Different dose of ambroxol on acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in elderly patients

Abstract:Objective To study the different doses of ambroxol treating acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in elderly patients.Methods Totally 104 acute exacerbation chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients were randomly divided into high-dose group and small-dose group;two groups were given oxygen inhalation,spasmolysis,antibiotics and other conventional treatments ; control group was given small dose ambroxol intravenous injection;the high-dose group had the conventional treatment.After 1 week of continuous treatment,the improvement of clinical symptoms and blood gas indexes was observed.Results The effective rate in high-dose group was 90.4％ (47/52) ; the total effective rate of small dose group was 71.2％ (37/52) ; the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).After treatment,the partial pressure of oxygen and dioxide in high-dose group were obviously better than those in small dose group [(65.2 ± 2.7) mmHg vs (60.9 ± 2.2) mmHg,(46.2 ± 3.0) mmHg vs (50.14 ± 2.68) mmHg; (11.7 ± 1.9) mmHg vs (10.5 ± 1.6) mmHg,(12.57 ± 0.22)mmHg vs (12.15 ±2.67)mmHg] (P＜0.05).Conclusion The large dose of ambroxol can significantly improve the symptoms of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in elderly patients.
Clinical Study of Inhaled Ambroxol in the Adjunctive Treatment of Lower Respiratory Tract Infection Induced by Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of inhaled ambroxol in the adjunctive treatment of the lower respiratory tract infection induced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.METHODS A total of 41 patients with lower respiratory tract infection induced by P.aeruginosa were randomly divided into two groups.The control group received the combination therapy of piperacillin/tazobactam and levofloxacin,while the trial group received inhaled ambroxol plus the combination therapy.The course of treatment for both groups was 10-14 d.RESULTS The clinical cure rates of trial group and control group were 65.0%and 33.3%,respectively,and clinical efficacy rates were 85.0% and 66.7%,respectively.The bacterial eradication rates were 75.0% in trial group and 42.9% in control group.The differences in both clinical cure rates and the bacterial eradication rates between the two groups were statistically significant(P0.05),but no significant difference in the clinical efficacy rates.No side effects occured in trial group.CONCLUSION Inhaled ambroxol could help to clear P.aeruginosa and might be an ideal adjunctive therapy for the lower respiratory tract infection induced by P.aeruginosa.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of ambroxol on concentrations of serum cytokine interleukin-8(IL-8),interleukin-10(IL-10),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and pulmonary function in patients with chronic obstructive airway disease(COPD).Methods 80 hospitalized patients with COPD at acute exacerbation stage in Nanhui Central Hospital from February 2008 to April 2009 were divided into the ambroxol group(n=40)and control group(n=40).Concentrations of serum IL-8,IL-10,TNF-α and pulmonary function parameter included the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second and predicted value(FEV1%) and forced expiratory volume in one second divided by forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC)were measured in all subjects.Results The difference of value of serum IL-8,IL-10,TNF-α concentrations and FEV1%,FEV1/FVC in the ambroxol group were significantly higher than those in the controls(P<0.01).Conclusion Ambroxol can reduce the concentrations of serum cytokine,relieve inflammatory reaction and improve ventilation function significantly in patients with COPD.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and impact on pulmonary function of ambroxol hydrochloride combined with antibiotics in the treatment of chronic bronchitis. Methods: This randomized controlled trial involved the enrollment and randomization of 98 CB patients admitted to Anting Hospital from January 2020 to January 2021, with participants divided into an observation group and a control group at a 1:1 ratio, comprising 49 cases in each group. The control group received cefmetazole alone, whereas the observation group received ambroxol hydrochloride combined with antibiotics. The two groups were compared in terms of time required for mitigation of clinical symptoms, clinical effectiveness, and indicators for pulmonary function. Results: The observation group showed a reduction in symptom disappearance time by 3.3 days and a 9% higher total effective rate compared to the control group. After treatment, the observation group had elevated FEV1 (22.64%), FVC (31.64%), and FEV1/FVC (9.79%) compared with the control group. Conclusion: Ambroxol hydrochloride combined antibiotics are effective in the treatment of CB, indicating potential for enhanced quality of life and reduced disease burden for patients with chronic bronchitis.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of ambroxol on prevention of bronchopulmonary complications after thoracotomy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Total 161 elderly patients aged ≥70 years with COPD undergoing thoracotomy were randomly allocated to two groups:ambroxol group (300 mg/d,6 d) and placebo group as control.Pulmonary complications were evaluated by clinical symptoms,radiographic changes,and blood gas analysis. Results The incidence rates of atelectasis were 8.6％ in ambroxol group and 28.8％ in placebo group,respectively.The PaO2 values after surgery in ambroxol group decreased more than in placebo group (P＜0.05) compared with the preoperative values.Side effects were not found in all patients.Conclusions Ambroxol should be considered as an alternative pharmacologic approach for the prevention of post-thoracotomy pulmonary complications in the elderly patients with COPD.
Lung-protective Effect of Perioperative Treatment with Ambroxol in the Elderly Lung Cancer Patients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of perioperative administration of Ambroxol on pulmonary function, postoperative complications, postoperative hospital-stay and cost in elderly lung cancer patients after thoracic lobectomy surgery.Methods One hundred and forty consecutive elderly patients who underwent thoracic lobectomy surgery for lung cancer were randomly assigned into 2 groups: control group (n=70) and Ambroxol group (n=70).In control group, subjects were given the standardized treatment.In the Ambroxol group, patients were given the standardized treatment plus Ambroxol (90 mg/q, 8 h/d) from the day of operation to postoperative 5 days.The preoperative general information, intraoperative conditions, pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, incidence of perioperative morbidity, duration of ICU stay, length and costs of postoperative hospital-stay were collected and compared between the 2 groups.Results The 2 groups were well matched for demographics and operative variables.The forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1),the forced vital capacity (FVC), peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) and arterial oxygen pressure were reduced in the 2 groups after operation as compared with before treatment, while the decreases of the above indexes were more significant in the control group than in the Ambroxol group (P＜0.05).Compared with the control group, the postoperative pulmonary complications declined, oxygenation index improved, the postoperative ICU occupancy rate and the length and costs of postoperative hospital-stay were decreased in the ambroxol group (all P＜ 0.05).Conclusions Perioperative administration of Ambroxol could reduce the incidence of pulmonary complications, improve the lung function, decrease the total hospitalization cost, shorten the length of hospital-stay, promote a rapid recovery after surgery, which is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic ambroxol hydrochloride injection in the adjuvant treatment of respiratory diseases.Methods The trial design was randomized, double blind and multicenter.A total of 132 patients of acute respiratory tract infections were randomly divided into treatment group,treated with ambroxol hydrochloride injection 30mg,iv,q12h, and control group,treated with mucosolvan ampoule 30mg,iv,q12h,both for 5~7d.Results The toltal clinical control rate and effective rate (ITT analysis) were 54.55% and 74.24% in treatment group,and 46.97% and 77.27% in control group,respictively.PP analysis also showed that the toltal clinical control rate and effective rate were 54.69% and 73.44% in treatment group,and 47.54% and 77.05% in control group,respictively.There was no significant difference (P0.05) between two group.It was seldom to find the adverse reactions in both groups (6.06% vs 3.03%,P0.05).Conclusion Domestic ambroxol hydrochloride injection is an effective and safe adjuvant treatment of respiratory diseases in the removal of tenacious secretions and reduction of mucus stasis.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and significance of ambroxol and sodium bicarbonate through sequential lavage in treatment of bronchiectasis infection.Method The patients were randomly divided into conventional treatment group(control group) and the other group which combined conventional therapy with adjunctive therapy of ambroxol and sodium bicarbonate through sequential lavage(observation group).The clinical efficacy ofthe two groups were analyzed after 2 weeks and the frequency of exacerbation were followed up in six months.Result The total effective rate and half year frequency of exacerbation of the observation group,compared with the control group,were significantly different(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion The adjunctive therapy of ambroxol and sodium bicarbonate through sequential lavage based on conventional therapy can enhance the curative effectiveness,reduce the frequency of acute exacerbation,and improve the half-year quality of life in bronchiectasis infection.

Abstract:Background Ambroxol is a widely used mucoactive drug in sputum clearance of respiratory diseases taken orally and by injection. However, there is a paucity of evidence for inhaled ambroxol in sputum clearance. Methods This study performed a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial at 19 centers in China. Hospitalized adult patients with mucopurulent sputum and expectoration difficulty were recruited. Patients were randomized by 1:1 to receive inhalation of either ambroxol hydrochloride solution 3 mL (22.5 mg) + 0.9% sodium chloride 3 mL or 0.9% sodium chloride 6 mL twice daily for 5 days, with an interval of more than 6 h. The primary efficacy endpoint was the absolute change in the sputum property score after treatment compared to the baseline in the intention-to-treat population. Results Between 10 April 2018 and 23 November 2020, 316 patients were recruited and assessed for eligibility, of whom 138 who received inhaled ambroxol and 134 who received a placebo were included. Patients who received inhaled ambroxol had a significantly greater decrease in the sputum property score compared with patients who received inhalation of placebo (difference: −0.29; 95% CI: −0.53 to −0.05; p = 0.0215). Compared with the placebo, inhaled ambroxol also significantly reduced more expectoration volume in 24 h (difference: −0.18; 95% CI: −0.34 to −0.03; p = 0.0166). There was no significant difference in the proportion of adverse events between the two groups, and no deaths were reported. Discussion In hospitalized adult patients with mucopurulent sputum and expectoration difficulty, inhaled ambroxol was safe and effective for sputum clearance compared with a placebo. Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical effect of various doses of Budesonide combined with Tiotropium bromide in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: Clinical data of elderly patients with COPD, admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Shaoxing University from April 2021 to February 2023, were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the dosage of Budesonide combined with Tiotropium bromide, patients were divided into Low-dose group (Budesonide = 1mg), Medium-dose group (Budesonide = 2mg), and High-dose group (Budesonide = 3mg). All groups were matched for age, gender, course of disease, and BMI. Patients treated with Tiotropium bromide alone were assigned to the Control group. The clinical effect, pulmonary function index level, symptom improvement, inflammatory factor index level and adverse reactions in all groups were analyzed and compared. Results: A total of 88 patients were included in this study with 22 patients in each group. The total efficacy of Medium-dose (90.91%) and High-dose group (90.91%) was significantly higher than that of Low-dose group (63.64%) and the Control group (59.09%) (P<0.05). After the treatment, levels of pulmonary function, symptom improvement and inflammatory factors in the High-dose and the Medium-dose groups were better than those in the Low-dose group and the Control group. Pulmonary function, symptom improvement and levels of inflammatory factors was significantly better in the Low-dose group compared to the Control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Budesonide combined with tiotropium bromide is better than tiotropium bromide alone in the treatment of elderly patients with COPD. Abstract:Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a severe condition that leads to premature mortality and places a significant financial burden on healthcare systems. An adjunctive therapy in COPD includes the simultaneous administration of astragalus injection and ambroxol hydrochloride. Despite its widespread use, the effectiveness of this combined approach in COPD treatment has not been systematically evaluated. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of combining astragalus injection with ambroxol hydrochloride as an adjuvant treatment for COPD. Six electronic databases were used to search for relevant randomized controlled trials, and data analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.4. A total of 14 randomized controlled trials were included, involving 1070 patients who met the criteria. The results of the meta-analysis indicated that the combination of astragalus injection with ambroxol hydrochloride as an adjuvant treatment can improve various clinical parameters in patients with COPD compared to conventional treatment alone. These parameters include the clinical effective rate (OR = 5.44, 95% CI 3.51–8.43, I 2 = 0%), partial pressure of oxygen in artery (MD = 1.12, 95% CI 0.87–1.36, I 2 = 5%), partial pressure of carbon dioxide in artery (MD = − 1.43, 95% CI − 1.65 to − 1.21, I 2 = 0%), forced expiratory volume in one second (MD = 0.30, 95% CI 0.18–0.42, I 2 = 0%), percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second (MD = 16.18, 95% CI 12.60–19.76, I 2 = 82%), forced vital capacity (MD = 0.33, 95% CI 0.21–0.45, I 2 = 36%), hemoglobin (MD = − 16.17, 95% CI − 20.84 to − 11.51, I 2 = 29%), and the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity (MD = 2.51, 95% CI − 0.05 to 5.06, I 2 = 0%). The combination of astragalus injection and ambroxol hydrochloride could be a selection of COPD patients as an adjuvant treatment. However, further validation is required to evaluate the effectiveness of combining astragalus injection and ambroxol hydrochloride as an adjunctive treatment for patients with COPD.

Abstract:Purpose: To investigate the effect of combining respiratory care with bronchodilators on pulmonary function, psychological well-being, and health behavior in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Method: A retrospective analysis was conducted with 90 COPD patients treated in the First People's Hospital of Fuyang, Hangzhou, China between January 2021 and January 2023. Patients were divided into budegopher group (26 patients), symbicor group (28 patients), and combination group (36 patients treated with budegopher plus respiratory care). Lung function, psychological state (Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Health Behavior Scale (HPL), and any observed adverse reactions among these groups were recorded. Results: Significant differences were observed in lung function such as forced expiratory volume in 1 sec (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC) among the three groups after treatment. Symbicor group showed superior results compared to budegopher group while combination group showed better improvement than budegopher group, and symbicor group (p < 0.001). Pairwise comparisons of psychological state (SAS and SDS) and health behavior (HPL) revealed variations among groups. Lung function parameters (FEV1, FVC) had negative correlations with negative psychological attitudes (SAS, SDS) and moderate positive correlations with health-promoting behaviors (HPL). Negative psychological attitudes (SAS, SDS) were moderately and negatively correlated with health-promoting behaviors (HPL). Conclusion: Combining respiratory care with bronchodilators demonstrates notable potential to enhance pulmonary function, alleviate negative psychological states, promote healthful behaviors, and expedite the recovery process for COPD patients. However, subtle variations in the therapeutic effects of different drugs may exist, warranting further investigation.

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect and its clinical significance of different dose of glucocorticoids on inflammation mediators in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.Methods 45 patients admitted to our hospitals from March 2007 to March 2011 were randomly divided into 3 groups:methylprednisolone 40 mg group (methylprednisolone 40mg,iv,qd),methylprednisolone 80 mg group (methylprednisolone 80mg,iv,bid),and control group (without any glucocorticoids).The changes of dyspnea scores,arterial blood gas analysis,clinical symptom scores and serum IL-6,IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) levels were detected in patients of each group before and at the 7th day after treatment.The related adverse drug reactions were recorded.Results The improvements in clinical symptom scores,Borg scores,PaCO2,PaO2 after treatment were higher in methylprednisolone 40 mg group and methylprednisolone 80 mg group than in control group (F=3.6747.162 and 42.88,respectively,P＜0.01 or 0.001),and the above improvements was better in methylprednisolone 80 mg group than in methylprednisolone 40 mg group (all P＜0.05).The decreases in levels of serum IL-8,TNF-α,IL-6,C-RP after the treatment were more significant in methylprednisolone 40 mg group and methylprednisolone 80 mg group than in control group (F=12.65,16.17,30.99,respectively,all P＜0.001),and the decrements were more significant in methylprednisolone 80 mg group than in methylprednisolone 40 mg group(all P＜0.05).NO serious adverse drug reactions happened during the course of treatment in the three groups.Conelusions Short-term and moderate dose of glucocorticoid treatment is effective and safe in treating the patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.Methylprednisolone 80 mg injection daily can more obviously improve AECOPD symptoms,and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors better.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of thymalfasin neoadjuvant therapy on elderly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and to observe its influence on the cellular immune function. Methods A retrospective analysis was car-ried out on the clinical data of 60 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the hospital from March 2013 to May 2015, of which 30 cases were treated with conventional anti-infection treatment as the control group;the other 30 cases, on the basis of conventional therapy, were added with thymalfasin new adjuvant therapy as the treatment group. The blood-Qi analysis and pulmonary function, clinical symptom scores, C-reactive protein, the percentage of neutrophils, immune function changes were ob-served before and after treatment, and the efficacy and adverse reactions were recorded. Results After treatment, the PO2 and PCO2, FEV1/FVC, the percentage of FEV1 in the predicted value in the two groups increased or decrease significantly compared with before treatment ( P < 0. 05 );but the indicators of the two groups showed no statistically significant difference ( P > 0. 05 ) . After treatment, the clinical symptom scores and C-reactive protein and the percentage of neutrophils of the two groups significantly decreased than before treatment, and the decrease in the treatment group was more significant than the control group ( P < 0. 05 ) . The CD4+ /CD8 + ratio in the control group was significantly better than before treatment, besides that, the rest of the indicators showed no significant change. However, all the indicators of the observation group improved significantly, and each improvement was better than the control group ( P < 0. 05 ) . The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93. 33%, which was significantly higher than 63. 33% of the con-trol group ( P < 0. 05 ) . Conclusion The application of thymalfasin new adjuvant therapy for treating elderly patients with acute exacer-bation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can not only have significant efficacy, but also improve immune function in the patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
