Abstract:The intricacies involving the role of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in herpesvirus infection and persistence are complex. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) uses a variety of receptors to enter cells and is transported to and from the host cell nucleus over the microtubule railroad via retrograde and anterograde transport. IFN-γ exerts dual but conflicting effects on microtubule organization. IFN-γ stimulates production of suppressors of cytokine signaling 1 and 3 (SOCS1 and SOCS3), which are involved in microtubule stability and are negative regulators of IFN-γ signaling when overexpressed. IFN-γ also interferes with the correct assembly of microtubules causing them to undergo severe bundling, contributing to its anti-viral effect. Factors leading to the decision for a replicative virus lytic cycle or latency in the trigeminal ganglion (TG) occur on histone 3 (H3), involve IFN-γ produced by natural killer cells and non-cytolytic CD8+T cells, SOCS1, SOCS3, and M2 anti-inflammatory microglia/macrophages maintained by inhibitory interleukin 10 (IL-10). Both M2 microglia and CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ Treg cells produce IL-10. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are epigenetic regulators maintaining chromatin in an inactive state necessary for transcription of IFN-γ-activated genes and their anti-viral effect. Following inhibition of HDACs by stressors such as ultraviolet light, SOCS1 and SOCS3 are acetylated, and chromatin is relaxed and available for virus replication. SOCS1 prevents expression of MHC class 1 molecules on neuronal cells and SOCS3 attenuates cytokine-induced inflammation in the area. A model is presented to unify the effects of IFN-γ, SOCS1, SOCS3, and HSV-1 on H3 and chromatin structure in virus latency or reactivation. HSV-1 latency in the TG is viewed as an active ongoing process involving maintenance of microglia in an M2 anti-inflammatory state by IL-10. IL-10 is produced in an autocrine manner by the M2 microglia/macrophages and by virus-specific CD4+Foxp3+ Treg cells interacting with virus-specific non-cytolytic CD8+ T cells.

Abstract:Based on the mode coupling theory of a tilted fiber grating (TFBG), the spectral characteristics of a TFBC under different ambient refractive indexes are studied by the Optigrating software. The results show that when the ambient refractive index is less than the refractive index of the cladding mode, both the core mode and the cladding mode of the TFBG exist; in contrast, when the ambient refractive index is larger than or equal to the refractive :index of the cladding mode, only the core mode exists and the cladding mode disappears. The experimental results of this TFBG in distilled water, anhydrous ethanol, safflower oil, peanut oil and soybean oil are consistent with the corresponding simulation results. These research results have certain guiding significance for the real-time leakage monitoring of pipelines full of liquids with larger refractive indexes.

Abstract:A key challenge in tailoring compact and high-performance illumination lenses for extended non-Lambertian sources is to take both the étendue and the radiance distribution of an extended non-Lambertian source into account when redirecting the light rays from the source. We develop a direct method to tailor high-performance illumination lenses with prescribed irradiance properties for extended non-Lambertian sources. A relationship between the irradiance distribution on a given observation plane and the radiance distribution of the non-Lambertian source is established. Both edge rays and internal rays emanating from the extended light source are considered in the numerical calculation of lens profiles. Three examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and characteristics of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method can yield compact and high-performance illumination systems in both the near field and far field.

Abstract:The refractive index distribution in atmosphere or fluid medium is irregular and inhomogeneous, and cannot be described by a usual gradient index formula due to the influence of flowage and change of temperature. In this paper a novel method, namely, self-adaptive grid is used for describing the refractive index in irregular inhomogeneous medium, the refractive index data are stored in RAM as a dynamic octree, the criterion of grid division for refractive index and its gradient are given and the interpolation method is used for calculating the refractive index and its gradient at positions along the ray trace trajectory. A gradient index (GRIN) rod in which the refractive index can be described by a formula is also analysis as an example, the self-adaptive grid is created and the refractive indexes and its gradient at some positions with high accuracy are output. The RMS error is under 7e-5 and can be used for ray tracing.

Abstract:We constructed an automated reflectometry system for accurate measurement of coherent reflectance curves of turbid samples and analyzed the presence of coherent and diffuse reflection near the specular reflection angle. An existing method has been validated to determine the complex refractive indices of turbid samples on the basis of nonlinear regression of the coherent reflectance curves by Fresnel's equations. The complex refractive indices of fresh porcine skin epidermis and dermis tissues and Intralipid solutions were determined at eight wavelengths: 325, 442, 532, 633, 850, 1064, 1310, and 1557 nm.
Age-related changes in the viscoelasticity of rabbit lens characterised by surface wave dispersion analysis

Abstract:The viscoelastic properties of the young and mature rabbit lenses in situ are evaluated using wave-based optical coherence elastography (OCE). Surface waves in the crystalline lens are generated using acoustic radiation force (ARF) focused inside the eyeball. Surface-wave dispersion is measured with a phase-stabilised optical coherence tomography (OCT) system. The Young's modulus and shear viscosity coefficient are quantified based on a Scholte wave model. The results show that both elasticity and viscosity are significantly different between the young and mature lenses. The Young's modulus of the lenses increased with age from 7.74 ± 1.56 kPa (young) to 15.15 ± 4.52 kPa (mature), and the shear viscosity coefficient increased from 0.55 ± 0.04 Pa s (young) and 0.86 ± 0.13 Pa s (mature). Abstract:ABSTRACT There is an increasing need to develop bio‐compatible polymers with an increased range of different physicochemical properties. Poly(glycerol‐adipate) (PGA) is a biocompatible, biodegradable amphiphilic polyester routinely produced from divinyl adipate and unprotected glycerol by an enzymatic route, bearing a hydroxyl group that can be further functionalized. Polymers with an average Mn of ∼13 kDa can be synthesized without any post‐polymerization deprotection reactions. Acylated polymers with fatty acid chain length of C4, C8, and C18 (PGAB, PGAO, and PGAS, respectively) at different degrees of substitution were prepared. These modifications yield comb‐like polymers that modulate the amphiphilic characteristics of PGA. This novel class of biocompatible polymers has been characterized through various techniques such as FT‐IR, 1H NMR, surface, thermal analysis, and their ability to self‐assemble into colloidal structures was evaluated by using DLS. The highly tunable properties of PGA reported herein demonstrate a biodegradable polymer platform, ideal for engineering solid dispersions, nanoemulsions, or nanoparticles for healthcare applications. © 2016 The Authors. Abstract:PURPOSE The target volume for Whole Breast Irradiation (WBI) is dictated by location of tumor mass, breast tissue distribution, and involvement of lymph nodes. Dose coverage and Organs at Risk (OARs) sparing can be difficult to achieve in patients with unfavorable thoracic geometries. For these cases, inverse-planned and 3D-conformal prone treatments can be alternatives to traditional supine 3D-conformal plans. A dosimetric comparison can determine which of these techniques achieve optimal target coverage while sparing OARs. METHODS This study included simulation datasets for 8 patients, 5 of whom were simulated in both supine and prone positions. Positioning devices included breast boards and Vaclok bags for the supine position, and prone breast boards for the prone position. WBI 3-D conformal plans were created for patients simulated in both positions. Additional VMAT and IMRT WBI plans were made for all patients in the supine position. RESULTS Prone and supine 3D conformal plans had comparable PTV coverage. Prone 3D conformal plans received a significant 50% decrease to V20, V10, V5 and V30% for the ipsilateral lung in contrast to the supine plans. The heart also experienced a 10% decrease in maximum dose in the prone position, and V20, V10, V5 and V2 had significantly lower values than the supine plan. Supine IMRT and VMAT breast plans obtained comparable PTV coverage. The heart experienced a 10% decrease in maximum dose with inverse modulated plans when compared to the supine 3D conformal plan, while V20, V10, V5 and V2 showed higher values with inverse modulated plans than with supine 3D conformal plans. CONCLUSION Prone 3D-conformal, and supine inverse planned treatments were generally superior in sparing OARs to supine plans with comparable PTV coverage. IMRT and VMAT plans offer sparing of OARs from high dose regions with an increase of irradiated volume in the low dose regions.

Abstract:AIM: To address the microstructure and biomechanical changes of the sclera of rabbits after negative lens application by spectacle frame apparatus.METHODS: Five New Zealand rabbits of seven weeks post-natal were treated with -8 D lens monocularly over the course of two weeks. Refractive errors and axial length (AXL) were measured at the 1st, 7th and 14th days of the induction period. Ultrastructure of sclera was determined with electron microscopy. Biomechanical properties were tested by an Instron 5565 universal testing machine.RESULTS: Lens-induced (LI) eyes elongated more rapidly compared with fellow eyes with AXL values of 15.56 +/- 0.14 and 15.21 +/- 0.14 mm (P<0.01). Fibril diameter was significantly smaller in the LI eyes compared with control ones in the inner, middle, and outer layers (inner layer, 63.533 vs 76.467 nm; middle layer, 92.647 vs 123.984 nm; outer layer, 86.999 vs 134.257 nm, P<0.01, respectively). In comparison with control eyes, macrophage-like cells that engulfed fibroblasts, dilated endoplasmic reticulum, and vacuoles in fibroblasts were observed in the inner and middle stroma in the LI eyes. Ultimate stress and Young's modulus were lower in the LI eyes compared with those in the control eyes.CONCLUSION: Negative lens application alters eye growth, and results in axial elongation with changes in scleral ultrastructural and mechanical properties.
Lens opacity and refractive influences on the measurement of retinal vascular fractal dimension

Abstract:PURPOSE: To examine the influence of lens opacity and refraction on the measurement of retinal vascular fractal dimension (Df).METHODS: Optic disc photographs (right eyes) of 3654 baseline Blue Mountains Eye Study participants (aged 49-97) were digitized. Retinal vascular Df was quantified using a computer-based program. Summated severity scores for nuclear, cortical and posterior subcapsular (PSC) cataract were assessed from lens photographs. Refraction data were converted to spherical equivalent refraction (SER), as sum spherical plus 0.5 cylinder power. Axial length was measured at 10-year follow-up examinations using an IOL master.RESULTS: Mean Df of the retinal vasculature was 1.444±0.023 for 2859 eligible participants. Increasing lens opacity scores were associated with significant reduction in Df (β=-0.0030, p<0.0001). Both cortical and PSC cataract involving central lens area were associated with reduced Df, after controlling for confounding factors (p(trend) ≤0.0105). Increasing myopia severity was associated with reduced Df after adjusting for lens opacity scores and other confounders (p(trend) <0.0001). The slope of Df decrease per SER reduction was 0.0040 in eyes with SER≤-4D, compared to -0.0016 in eyes with SER>-4D. For axial length quintiles, there were no significant differences in mean Df in all groups except a reduction in the fifth quintile (axial length ≥24.15mm) (all p<0.05).CONCLUSION: Ocular media opacity independently influenced retinal vascular Df measurement, but we found no evidence supporting any refractive axial magnification effect on this measure. Myopic refraction ≤-4D was associated with a reduction in Df, suggesting rarefaction of retinal vasculature associated with high myopia.

Inner Retinal Microvasculature With Refraction in Juvenile Rhesus Monkeys

Abstract:Purpose: To characterize inner retinal microvasculature of rhesus monkeys with a range of refractive errors using optical coherence tomography angiography. Method: Refractive error was induced in right eyes of 18 rhesus monkeys. At 327 to 347 days of age, axial length and spherical equivalent refraction (SER) were measured, and optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography scans (Spectralis, Heidelberg) were collected. Magnification-corrected metrics included foveal avascular zone area and perfusion density, fractal dimension, and lacunarity of the superficial vascular complex (SVC) and deep vascular complex (DVC) in the central 1-mm diameter and 1.0- to 1.5-mm, 1.5- to 2.0-mm, and 2.0- to 2.5-mm annuli. Pearson correlations were used to explore relationships. Results: The mean SER and axial length were 0.78 ± 4.02 D (-7.12 to +7.13 D) and 17.96 ± 1.08 mm (16.41 to 19.93 mm), respectively. The foveal avascular zone area and SVC perfusion density were correlated with retinal thickness for the central 1 mm (P < 0.05). SVC perfusion density of 2.0- to 2.5-mm annulus decreased with increasing axial length (P < 0.001). SVC and DVC fractal dimensions of 2.0- to 2.5-mm were correlated with axial length and SER, and DVC lacunarity of 1.5- to 2.0-mm annulus was correlated with axial length (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Several inner retinal microvasculature parameters were associated with increasing axial length and SER in juvenile rhesus monkeys. These findings suggest that changes in retinal microvasculature could be indicators of refractive error development. Translational relevance: In juvenile rhesus monkeys, increasing myopic refraction and axial length are associated with alterations in the inner retinal microvasculature, which may have implications in myopia-related changes in humans.

Abstract:Life-long eye lens function requires an appropriate gradient refractive index, biomechanical integrity and transparency. We conducted an extensive study of wild-type mouse lenses 1-30 months of age to define common age-related changes. Biomechanical testing and morphometrics revealed an increase in lens volume and stiffness with age. Lens capsule thickness and peripheral fiber cell widths increased between 2 to 4 months of age but not further, and thus, cannot account for significant age-dependent increases in lens stiffness after 4 months. In lenses from mice older than 12 months, we routinely observed cataracts due to changes in cell structure, with anterior cataracts due to incomplete suture closure and a cortical ring cataract corresponding to a zone of compaction in cortical lens fiber cells. Refractive index measurements showed a rapid growth in peak refractive index between 1 to 6 months of age, and the area of highest refractive index is correlated with increases in lens nucleus size with age. These data provide a comprehensive overview of age-related changes in murine lenses, including lens size, stiffness, nuclear fraction, refractive index, transparency, capsule thickness and cell structure. Our results suggest similarities between murine and primate lenses and provide a baseline for future lens aging studies.
Effect of Altered Retinal Cones/Opsins on Refractive Development under Monochromatic Lights in Guinea Pigs

Abstract:Purpose. To analyze the changes of refraction and metabolism of the retinal cones under monochromatic lights in guinea pigs. Methods. Sixty guinea pigs were randomly divided into a short-wavelength light (SL) group, a middle-wavelength light (ML) group, and a white light (WL) group. Refraction and axial length were measured before and after 10-week illumination. The densities of S-cones and M-cones were determined by retinal cone immunocytochemistry, and the expressions of S-opsins and M-opsins were determined by real-time PCR and Western blot. Results. After 10-week illumination, the guinea pigs developed relative hyperopia in the SL group and relative myopia in the ML group. Compared with the WL group, the density of S-cones and S-opsins increased while M-cones and M-opsins decreased in the SL group (all, p<0.05); conversely, the density of S-cones and S-opsins decreased while M-cones and M-opsins increased in the ML group (all, p<0.05). Increased S-cones/opsins and decreased M-cones/opsins were induced by short-wavelength lights. Decreased S-cones/opsins and increased M-cones/opsins were induced by middle-wavelength lights. Conclusions. Altered retinal cones/opsins induced by monochromatic lights might be involved in the refractive development in guinea pigs.
Observations on relative peripheral refraction in Chinese adults with myopia based on a novel application of multispectral refraction topography

Abstract:In this population-based observational cross-sectional study, we investigated retinal peripheral refraction in Chinese adults with myopia. We categorized 1511 Chinese adults with myopia (18 − 55 years) into low (LM), moderate (MM), and high myopia (HM) groups. Axial length, central corneal thickness, steep keratometry, flat keratometry, and intraocular pressure were measured. Refractive difference values (RDVs) for different eccentricities (RDV0–53) and the superior (RDV-S), inferior (RDV-I), temporal (RDV-T), and nasal (RDV-N) retinal regions were measured using multispectral refractive topography. The hyperopic defocus was higher for the MM group than for the LM group in RDV20–53, RDV-S, and RDV-T and HM group in RDV20–53, RDV-S, RDV-T and RDV-N. The hyperopic defocus was higher for the HM group than for the LM group in RDV20-53, RDV-S and RDV-T but lower for the LM group in RDV-N. RDV-N decreased with age (R 2 = 0.0191, slope = − 0.01, p < 0.0001), whereas RDV-S (R 2 = 0.0112, slope = 0.01, p < 0.0001) and RDV-T increased (R 2 = 0.0038, slope = 0.01, p = 0.0160). RDV correlated with central spherical equivalent and axial length. Flat keratometry explained the most RDV variation (RDV20–30: β = 0.0714, p < 0.0001; RDV-N: β = 0.1801, p < 0.0001; RDV-S: β = 0.1426, p < 0.0001; RDV-T: β = 0.1239, p < 0.0001). Reference values for peripheral retinal defocus are provided for Chinese adults with different myopia ranges.

Abstract:To investigate refractive and axial responses to the shift of focal plane resulting from the interchange of two monochromatic lights separately corresponding to the peak wavelengths of the cones absorption spectrum in retina, fifty 2-week-old pigmented guinea pigs were randomly assigned to five groups based on the mode of illumination: short-wavelength light (SL), middle-wavelength light (ML) and broad-band white light (BL) for 20 weeks, SL for 10 weeks followed by ML for 10 weeks (STM), as well as ML for 10 weeks followed by SL for 10 weeks (MTS). Biometric and refractive measurements were then performed every 2 weeks. After 10 weeks, SL and STM groups became more hyperopic and had less vitreous elongation than BL group. However, ML and MTS groups became more myopic and had more vitreous elongation. After interchange of the monochromatic light, the refractive error decreased rapidly by about 1.93D and the vitreous length increased by 0.14 mm in STM group from 10 to 12 weeks. After that, there were no significant intergroup differences between STM and BL groups. The interchange from ML to SL quickly increased the refractive error by about 1.53D and decreased the vitreous length by about 0.13 mm in MTS group after two weeks. At this time, there were also no significant intergroup differences between MTS and BL groups. The guinea pig eye can accurately detect the shift in focal plane caused by interchange of two monochromatic lights and rapidly generate refractive and axial responses. However, an excessive compensation was induced. Some properties of photoreceptors or retina may be changed by the monochromatic light to influence the following refractive development.
Hyperbaric oxygen as a model of lens aging in the bovine lens: The effects on lens biochemistry, physiology and optics

Abstract:Age related nuclear (ARN) cataracts in humans take years to form and so experimental models have been developed to mimic the process in animals as a means of better understanding the etiology of nuclear cataracts in humans. A major limitation with these animal models is that many of the biochemical and physiological changes are not typical of that seen in human ARN cataract. In this review, we highlight the work of Frank Giblin and colleagues who established an in vivo animal model that replicates many of the changes observed in human ARN cataract. This model involves exposing aged guinea pigs to hyperbaric oxygen (HBO), which by causing the depletion of the antioxidant glutathione (GSH) specifically in the lens nucleus, produces oxidative changes to nuclear proteins, nuclear light scattering and a myopic shift in lens power that mimics the change that often precedes cataract development in humans. However, this model involves multiple HBO treatments per week, with sometimes up to a total of 100 treatments, spanning up to eight months, which is both costly and time consuming. To address these issues, Giblin developed an in vitro model that used rabbit lenses exposed to HBO for several hours which was subsequently shown to replicate many of the changes observed in human ARN cataract. These experiments suggest that HBO treatment of in vitro animal lenses may serve as a more economical and efficient model to study the development of cataract. Inspired by these experiments, we investigated whether exposure of young bovine lenses to HBO for 15 h could also serve as a suitable acute model of ARN cataract. We found that while this model is able to exhibit some of the biochemical and physiological changes associated with ARN cataract, the decrease in lens power we observed was more characteristic of the hyperopic shift in refraction associated with ageing. Future work will investigate whether HBO treatment to age the bovine lens in combination with an oxidative stressor such as UV light will induce refractive changes more closely associated with human ARN cataract. This will be important as developing an animal model that replicates the changes to lens biochemistry, physiology and optics observed in human ARN cataracts is urgently required to facilitate the identification and testing of anti-cataract therapies that are effective in humans.
Distribution of Small Molecular Weight Drugs into the Porcine Lens: Studies on Imaging Mass Spectrometry, Partition Coefficients, and Implications in Ocular Pharmacokinetics

Abstract:Lens is the avascular tissue in the eye between the aqueous humor and vitreous. Drug binding to the lens might affect ocular pharmacokinetics, and the binding may also have a pharmacological role in drug-induced cataract and cataract treatment. Drug distribution in the lens has been studied in vitro with many compounds; however, the experimental methods vary, no detailed information on distribution between the lens sublayers exist, and the partition coefficients are reported rarely. Therefore, our objectives were to clarify drug localization in the lens layers and establish partition coefficients for a wide range of molecules. Furthermore, we aimed to illustrate the effect of lenticular drug binding on overall ocular drug pharmacokinetics. We studied the distribution of 16 drugs and three fluorescent dyes in whole porcine lenses in vitro with imaging mass spectrometry and fluorescence microscopy techniques. Furthermore, we determined lens/buffer partition coefficients with the same experimental setup for 28 drugs with mass spectrometry. Finally, the effect of lenticular binding of drugs on aqueous humor drug exposure was explored with pharmacokinetic simulations. After 4 h, the drugs and the dyes distributed only to the outermost lens layers (capsule and cortex). The lens/buffer partition coefficients for the drugs were low, ranging from 0.05 to 0.8. On the basis of the pharmacokinetic simulations, a high lens-aqueous humor partition coefficient increases drug exposure in the lens but does not significantly alter the pharmacokinetics in the aqueous humor. To conclude, the lens seems to act mainly as a physical barrier for drug distribution in the eye, and drug binding to the lens affects mainly the drug pharmacokinetics in the lens.
Protein and Water Distribution Across Visual Axis in Mouse Lens: A Confocal Raman MicroSpectroscopic Study for Cold Cataract

Abstract:Purpose: The aims of the study were to investigate cellular mechanisms of cold cataract in young lenses of wild-type C57BL/6J (B6WT) mice treated at different temperatures and to test a hypothesis that cold cataract formation is associated with the changes in lens protein and water distribution at different regions across lens fiber cells by Raman spectroscopy (RS). Methods: RS was utilized to scan the mouse lens at different regions with/without cold cataract. Three regions with various opacification along the equatorial axis in the anterior–posterior lens section were scanned. The intensity ratio of Raman bands at 2,935 and 3,390 cm −1 (I p /I w ) were used to evaluate lens protein and water distribution. We further determined water molecular changes through Gaussian profiles of water Raman spectra. Results: Three specific regions 1, 2, and 3, located at 790–809, 515–534, and 415–434 μm away from the lens center, of postnatal day 14 B6WT lenses, were subjected to RS analysis. At 37°C, all three regions were transparent. At 25°C, only region 3 became opaque, while at 4°C, both regions 2 and 3 showed opacity. The sum of the difference between I p /I w and the value of linear fitting line from scattered-line at each scanning point was considered as fluctuation degree (FD) in each region. Among different temperatures, opaque regions showed relatively higher FD values (0.63 and 0.79 for regions 2 and 3, respectively, at 4°C, and 0.53 for region 3 at 25°C), while transparent regions provided lower FD values (less than 0.27). In addition, the decrease in Gaussian peak II and the rising of Gaussian peak III and IV from water Raman spectra indicated the instability of water molecule structure in the regions with cold cataract. Conclusion: Fluctuation degrees of RS data reveal new mechanistic information about cold cataract formation, which is associated with uneven distribution of lens proteins and water across lens fiber cells. It is possible that RS data partly reveals cold temperature-induced redistribution of lens proteins such as intermediate filaments in inner fiber cells. This lens protein redistribution might be related to unstable structure of water molecules according to Gaussian profiles of water RS.

Abstract:We quantitatively analysed the factors contributing to the optical transmission enhancement of a sub-wavelength Sb thin film lens, using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The results show that the transmission enhancement of the dielectric with a Gaussian distributed refractive index loaded in a sub-wavelength circular hole is not only due to the high refractive index dielectric, but also due to the specific distributions of refractive index. It is the first study about the effects of the refractive index distribution on the transmission of a sub-wavelength aperture. This kind of lens has practical applications in the very small aperture lasers and for near-field optical storage and lithography.

Abstract:Aberration variations severely degrade retinal imaging in small animal eyes. Previously, the approach of a goggle lens with a matching corneal index was proposed to overcome the on-axis resolution limit of static imaging systems, which allows the use of the full eye pupil. But this technique didn’t address the problem of the large power variation, and the ensuing aberration on and off-axis, when dealing with small animal eyes. In this study, we present the concept of a tunable goggle lens, designed to compensate individual ocular aberration for different rodent eye powers. Ray tracing evidences that lens-fitted goggles permit, not only to adjust individual eyes power, but also to surpass conventional adaptive correction technique over large viewing angle, provided a minimum use of two spaced liquids. We believe that the overlooked advantage of the 3D lens function is a seminal finding for further technological advancements in widefield retinal imaging.
