Abstract:Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 5.85 fb^{-1} collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.61 to 4.95 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we measure the cross section for the process e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}K^{-}J/ψ. A new resonance with a mass of M=4708_{-15}^{+17}±21 MeV/c^{2} and a width of Γ=126_{-23}^{+27}±30 MeV is observed in the energy-dependent line shape of the e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}K^{-}J/ψ cross section with a significance over 5σ. The K^{+}J/ψ system is also investigated to search for charged charmoniumlike states, but no significant Z_{cs}^{+} states are observed. Upper limits on the Born cross sections for e^{+}e^{-}→K^{-}Z_{cs}(3985)^{+}/K^{-}Z_{cs}(4000)^{+}+c.c. with Z_{cs}(3985)^{±}/Z_{cs}(4000)^{±}→K^{±}J/ψ are reported at 90% confidence levels. The ratio of branching fractions {[B(Z_{cs}(3985)^{+}→K^{+}J/ψ)]/B[Z_{cs}(3985)^{+}→(D[over ¯]^{0}D_{s}^{*+}+D[over ¯]^{*0}D_{s}^{+})]} is measured to be less than 0.03 at 90% confidence level.

Abstract:Two narrow resonant states are observed in the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} mass spectrum using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The minimal quark content of the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} system indicates that these are excited Ξ_{b}^{0} baryons. The masses of the Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0} states are m[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]=6327.28_{-0.21}^{+0.23}±0.12±0.24 and m[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]=6332.69_{-0.18}^{+0.17}±0.03±0.22 MeV, respectively, with a mass splitting of Δm=5.41_{-0.27}^{+0.26}±0.12 MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the Λ_{b}^{0} mass measurement. The measured natural widths of these states are consistent with zero, with upper limits of Γ[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]<2.20(2.56) and Γ[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]<1.60(1.92) MeV at a 90% (95%) credibility level. The significance of the two-peak hypothesis is larger than nine (five) Gaussian standard deviations compared to the no-peak (one-peak) hypothesis. The masses, widths, and resonant structure of the new states are in good agreement with the expectations for a doublet of 1D Ξ_{b}^{0} resonances.

Abstract:A study of resonant structures in B^{+}→D^{*+}D^{-}K^{+} and B^{+}→D^{*-}D^{+}K^{+} decays is performed, using proton-proton collision data at center-of-mass energies of sqrt[s]=7, 8, and 13 TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. A simultaneous amplitude fit is performed to the two channels with contributions from resonances decaying to D^{*-}D^{+} and D^{*+}D^{-} states linked by C parity. This procedure allows the C parities of resonances in the D^{*±}D^{∓} mass spectra to be determined. Four charmonium or charmoniumlike states are observed decaying into D^{*±}D^{∓}: η_{c}(3945), h_{c}(4000), χ_{c1}(4010), and h_{c}(4300), with quantum numbers J^{PC} equal to 0^{-+}, 1^{+-}, 1^{++}, and 1^{+-}, respectively. At least three of these states have not been observed previously. In addition, the existence of the T_{c[over ¯]s[over ¯]0}^{*}(2870)^{0} and T_{c[over ¯]s[over ¯]1}^{*}(2900)^{0} resonances in the D^{-}K^{+} mass spectrum, already observed in the B^{+}→D^{+}D^{-}K^{+} decay, is confirmed in a different production channel.

Abstract:The $B^+ \rightarrow J/\psi \eta^{\prime} K^+$ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9fb$^{-1}$. The branching fraction of this decay is measured relative to the known branching fraction of the $B^+ \rightarrow \psi(2S) K^+$ decays and found to be $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}( B^+ \rightarrow J/\psi \eta^{\prime}K^+)}{\mathcal{B}( B^+ \rightarrow \psi(2S)K^+)} = \left(4.91\pm 0.47\pm0.29\pm0.07\right)\times10^{-2}, $$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is related to external branching fractions. A first look at the $J/\psi\eta^{\prime}$ mass distribution is performed and no signal of intermediate resonances is observed.

Abstract:The first study of $J/\psi\phi$ production in diffractive processes in proton-proton collisions is presented. The study is based on an LHCb dataset recorded at centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb$^{-1}$. The data disfavour a nonresonant $J/\psi\phi$ production but are consistent with a resonant model including several resonant states observed previously only in $B^+ \to J/\psi\phi K^+$ decays. The $\chi_{c0}(4500)$ state is observed with a significance over $5\sigma$ and the $\chi_{c1}(4274)$ is confirmed with a significance of more than $4\sigma$.

Observation of a $J/ψΛ$ resonance consistent with a strange pentaquark candidate in $B^-\to J/ψΛ\bar{p}$ decays

Abstract:An amplitude analysis of $B^-\to J/\psi\Lambda\bar{p}$ decays is performed using about 4400 signal candidates selected on a data sample of $pp$ collisions recorded at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb$^{-1}$. A narrow resonance in the $J/\psi\Lambda$ system, consistent with a pentaquark candidate with strangeness, is observed with high significance. The mass and the width of this new state are measured to be $4338.2\pm 0.7\pm 0.4$MeV and ${7.0\pm1.2\pm1.3}$MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The spin is determined to be $1/2$ and negative parity is preferred. Due to the small $Q$-value of the reaction, the most precise single measurement of the $B^-$ mass to date, $5279.44\pm0.05\pm0.07$MeV, is obtained.

Abstract:We report the first observation of J/ψ→ηK*0K¯*0 decay in a J/ψ sample of 58 million events collected with the BESII detector. The branching fraction is determined to be (1.15±0.13±0.22)×10−3. The selected signal event sample is further used to search for the Y(2175) resonance through J/ψ→ηY(2175), Y(2175)→K*0K¯*0. No evidence of a signal is seen. An upper limit of Br(J/ψ→ηY(2175))⋅Br(Y(2175)→K*0K¯*0)<2.52×10−4 is set at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract:From e+e− collision data acquired with the CLEO detector at CESR, we observe the non-DD̄ decay ψ(3770) → γχc1 with a statistical significance of 6.6 standard deviations, using the twophoton cascades to J/ψ and J/ψ → + −. We determine σ(e+e− → ψ(3770)) × B(ψ(3770) → γχc1) = (18.0±3.3±2.5) pb and branching fraction B(ψ(3770) → γχc1) = (2.8±0.5±0.4)×10−3. We set 90% C.L. upper limits for the transition to χc2 (χc0) : σ × B < 5.7 pb (< 282 pb) and B < 0.9 × 10−3 (< 44 × 10−3). We also determine Γ(ψ(3770) → γχc1)/Γ(ψ(3770) → π+π−J/ψ) = 1.5 ± 0.3 ± 0.3 (> 1.0 at 90% C.L.), which bears upon the interpretation of X(3872).

Abstract:We report the first observation of the decay J/ψ→3γ. The signal has a statistical significance of 6σ and corresponds to a branching fraction of B(J/ψ→3γ)=(1.2±0.3±0.2)×10−5, in which the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. Abstract:The decays of J/ψ and ψ(2S) to nK0 S Λ̄+c.c. are observed and measured for the first time, and the perturbative QCD “12%” rule is tested, based on 5.8 × 107 J/ψ and 1.4 × 107 ψ(2S) events collected with BESII detector at the Beijing Electron–Positron Collider. No obvious enhancement near nΛ̄ threshold in J/ψ → nK0 S Λ̄ + c.c. is observed, and the upper limit on the branching ratio of J/ψ → K0 S X,X → nΛ̄ is determined. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:Using 5.8×107J/ψ events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J/ψ→γϕϕ→γK+K−KS0KL0 is studied. The ϕϕ invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/c2. A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0−+ state (η(2225)) with a mass of 2.24−0.02+0.03−0.02+0.03 GeV/c2 and a width of 0.19±0.03−0.04+0.06 GeV/c2. The product branching fraction is: Br(J/ψ→γη(2225))⋅Br(η(2225)→ϕϕ)=(4.4±0.4±0.8)×10−4.

Abstract:The decay channel J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{eta}{sup '} is analyzed using a sample of 5.8x10{sup 7} J/{psi} events collected with the BESII detector. A resonance, the X(1835), is observed in the {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{eta}{sup '} invariant-mass spectrum with a statistical significance of 7.7{sigma}. A fit with a Breit-Wigner function yields a mass M=1833.7{+-}6.1(stat){+-}2.7(syst) MeV/c{sup 2}, a width {gamma}=67.7{+-}20.3(stat){+-}7.7(syst) MeV/c{sup 2}, and a product branching fraction B(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}X){center_dot}B(X{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{eta}{sup '})=[2.2{+-}0.4(stat){+-}0.4(syst)]x10{sup -4}. The mass and width of the X(1835) are not compatible with any known meson resonance. Its properties are consistent with expectations for the state that produces the strong pp mass threshold enhancement observed in the J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}pp process at BESII.

Abstract:The first full amplitude analysis of $B^+ \to \psi(2S) K^+ \pi^+ \pi^-$ decays is performed using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9\,\text{fb}^{-1}$ recorded with the LHCb detector. The rich $K^+ \pi^+ \pi^-$ spectrum is studied and the branching fractions of the resonant substructure associated with the prominent $K_1(1270)^+$ contribution are measured. The data cannot be described by conventional strange and charmonium resonances only. An amplitude model with 53 components is developed comprising 11 hidden-charm exotic hadrons. New production mechanisms for charged charmonium-like states are observed. Significant resonant activity with spin-parity $J^P = 1^+$ in the $\psi(2S) \pi^+$ system is confirmed and a multi-pole structure is demonstrated. The spectral decomposition of the $\psi(2S) \pi^+ \pi^-$ invariant-mass structure, dominated by $X^0 \to \psi(2S) \rho(770)^0$ decays, broadly resembles the $J/\psi \phi$ spectrum observed in $B^+ \to J/\psi \phi K^+$ decays. Exotic $\psi(2S) K^+ \pi^-$ resonances are observed for the first time.

Abstract:Using a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/\psi$ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the $J/\psi\rightarrow \gamma 3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/$c^2$ in the line-shape of the $3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, $X(1840)$ and $X(1880)$. The new state $X(1880)$ is observed with a statistical significance larger than $10\sigma$. The mass and width of $X(1880)$ are determined to be $1882.1\pm1.7\pm0.7$ MeV/$c^2$ and $30.7\pm5.5 \pm2.4$ MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a $p\bar{p}$ bound state.

Abstract:Based on 58 million J/ψ events collected by the BES II detector at the BEPC, J/ψ → Λ π+π− is observed for the first time. The branching fraction is measured to be Br(J/ψ → Λ π+π−) = (4.30±0.13±0.99)×10−3, excluding the decays to intermediate states, namely J/ψ → Ξ−+, J/ψ → Σ(1385)−(1385)+, and J/ψ → Σ(1385)+(1385)−. The branching fractions for these intermediate resonance channels are measured to be: Br(J/ψ → Ξ−+) = (0.90±0.03±0.18)×10−3, Br(J/ψ → Σ(1385)−(1385)+) = (1.23±0.07±0.30)×10−3, and Br(J/ψ → Σ(1385)+(1385)−) = (1.50±0.08±0.38)×10−3, respectively. The angular distribution is of the form ∝ (1 + αcos2θ) with α = (0.35±0.29±0.06) for J/ψ → Ξ−+, α = (−0.54±0.22±0.10) for J/ψ → Σ(1385)−(1385)+, and α = (−0.35±0.25±0.06) for J/ψ → Σ(1385)+(1385)−.

Abstract:Using proton-proton collision data at centre-of-mass energies of s=7,8 and 13TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9fb-1, the invariant mass spectrum of J/ψ pairs is studied. A narrow structure around 6.9GeV/c2 matching the lineshape of a resonance and a broad structure just above twice the J/ψ mass are observed. The deviation of the data from nonresonant J/ψ-pair production is above five standard deviations in the mass region between 6.2 and 7.4GeV/c2, covering predicted masses of states composed of four charm quarks. The mass and natural width of the narrow X(6900) structure are measured assuming a Breit-Wigner lineshape.

Abstract:A broad peak is observed at low K+K- invariant mass in J/psi -> K+K- pi(0) decays found in a sample of 5.8 x 10(7) J/psi events collected with the BESII detector. The statistical significance of the broad resonance is much larger than 5 sigma. A partial wave analysis shows that the J(PC) of this structure is 1(--). Its pole position is determined to be [1576(-55)(+49)(stat)(-91)(+98)(syst)] MeV/c(2)-i/2[818(-23)(+22)(stat)(-133)(+64)(syst)] MeV/c(2). These parameters are not compatible with any known meson resonances.

Abstract:The decays of J/psi and psi(2S) to nK(S)(0) (Lambda) over bar + c.c. are observed and measured for the first time, and the perturbative QCD "12%" rule is tested, based on 5.8 x 10(7) J/psi and 1.4 x 10(7) psi(2S) events collected with BESII detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. No obvious enhancement near n (Lambda) over bar threshold in J/psi -> nK(S)(0)(Lambda) over bar + c.c. is observed, and the upper limit on the branching ratio of J/psi -> (KSX)-X-0, X -> n (Lambda) over bar is determined.
