Abstract:The heat and mass transition characteristics with nonlinear convection flow through impermeable stationary and porous spinning disks are evaluated in the present analysis. The gyrotactic microorganism and magnetic nanoparticulate have been used in the carrier fluid ethylene glycol and water to synthesized nanofluid. The heat and mass propagation are examined by considering heat absorption/generation, thermal radiation and rate of chemical reaction, respectively. The governing equations are transformed to the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations all through a similarity context. The basic modeled equations are numerically computed using the parametric continuation method. Physical interest variables are illustrated through tables and figures versus velocity, energy, mass and gyrotactic microorganism profiles. It has been observed that the enhancement in nonlinear convection owing to heat generation and temperature coefficient elevated the wall friction along the radial direction of the gyrating disk. The mass transition rate lessens with the consequences of Schmidt number, while enhancing with the increment of the chemical reaction. The application, such as biomedical imaging, cancer therapy, information storage, wastewater treatment and thermal decomposition of ferric oxide nanoparticles made the present analysis more plausible.

Abstract:Thermophoretic particle deposition (TPD) and thermal radiation have significant uses in engineering and research, such as projectiles, electrical fuel, and production of coating sheets, thermal transference, nuclear plants, renewable energy, aerospace engineering, and gas turbines. In light of the above applications, the present analysis examines the stagnation point flow of hybrid nanofluid (hnf) around a revolving sphere. The hnf is prepared with the addition of Cu and Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles in the water. The flow is examined under the impact of chemical reaction, thermal radiation, TPD, and activation energy. The flow equations are reformed into a dimensionless set of ordinary differential equations and then solved through the numerical approach parametric continuation method. The graphical and numerical results are demonstrated through graphics and tables. It has been noted that the effects of acceleration and rotational parameters boost the hnf (Cu and Al 2 O 3 /water) velocity. Furthermore, the energy outline reduces with the effect of acceleration parameter and nanoparticle volume friction. The influence of the rotation factor and acceleration parameters boosts the rate of skin friction. The influence of thermal radiation enriches the energy transmission rate.

Abstract:This article explores an incompressible hybrid nanofluid flow over an infinite impermeable rotating disk. The influence of a magnetic field has been added to better examine the fine point of nanoliquid flow. The main purpose of this work is to enhance our understanding of the exhaustion of energy in industrial and engineering fields. This study is mainly concerned with the von Kármán traditional flow of a rotating disk, involving carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and magnetic ferrite nanoparticles together with a carrier fluid such as water. The nonlinear system of differential equations is transformed to the dimensionless ordinary differential equation by using an appropriate similarity framework, which is further treated with the "homotopy analysis method" for the analytic solution. A mathematical calculation is provided to prove and illustrate why the hybrid nanofluids are advantageous as far as the heat transfer enhancement is concerned. Although the physical features highly rely on CNTs and iron oxide nanoparticles, it is concluded that the heat and mass transfer rate is greatly enhanced by the addition of CNTs and Fe3O4 nanofluids. By increasing the velocity of disk rotation, fluid temperature and velocity are significantly increased. The use of CNT + Fe3O4/H2O influences the performance of thermophysical characteristics of carrier fluids more compared to magnetic ferrite nanomaterials.

Abstract:Fluid flow across a rotating disk has significant technical and industrial applications, including rotors, turbines, fans, centrifugal pumps, spinning disks, viscometers, etc. The impact of different-shaped nanoparticles immersed in the fluid controlled the thermophysical characteristics of the fluid, which were utilized in several sectors to accelerate thermal advancement. In the present problem, the tri-hybrid nanofluid flows over a rotating disk with three different shapes, namely spherical, cylindrical, and platelets, respectively, for Al 2 O 3 , multi-layered carbon nanotubes, and graphene nanoparticles immersed in the base fluid water. Under convective conditions, the tri nanofluid's thermal expansion is more significant when combined with Joule heating, Cattaneo-Christov heat flux, and nonlinear thermal radiation. The Galerkin Finite Element Method is used to solve the simplified form of PDEs after a similarity transformation is introduced to convert them into ODEs. The skin friction coefficient and the heat transfer rate are subjected to a quadratic regression analysis; the results are shown in tables. Compared to the base fluid, the Nusselt number reveals an improvement of around 5.72% for nanofluid, 7.35% for hybrid nanofluid, and 17.18% for tri-hybrid nanofluid when the strength of radiation parameter and Brinkman number is raised. Platelet-shaped nanoparticles observed a significant tendency to enhance the rate of heat transfer, which is more prominent for the tri-hybrid nanofluid than the hybrid and mono nanofluids. Each graph features a comparison of ternary hybrid, hybrid, and mono nanofluid with other significant physical parameters. It was noted that the entropy of the system significantly intensified with Reynolds number and temperature ratio, while it was controlled by radiation parameters. The uses of ternary nanofluids include energy storage devices, adsorbents, sensors, imaging, catalysts, therapeutic activity, and more.

Abstract:Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part N: Journal of Nanomaterials, Nanoengineering and Nanosystems, Ahead of Print. An electrically conducting and magnetically influenced three-dimensional flow of modified nanofluid between two rotating disks is investigated in this study. Nanometer-size particles of two distinct materials (Al2O3, Ag) suspended in water in the hybrid nanofluid are considered. The Joule heating effects, mixed convection, chemical factor, and exponential heating are considered in this study. The physical problem under these assumptions is transformed into a system of equations. To convert partial differential equations (PDEs) into systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), the suitable similarity variables are introduced. The reduced system is numerically solved using bvp4c, a well-known higher-order algorithm. The effects of significant variables on the profiles of velocity, temperature, and concentration are depicted graphically. We have chosen the pertinent parameters in the specific intervals; [math][math][math][math][math], [math][math][math] and [math]. The interactions between a number of significant factors, including skin friction and Nusselt and Sherwood numbers at the higher and lower disks, are shown in tables. The results demonstrate that the local skin fraction decreases as the mixed convection factor is increased, which physically increases the heat transmission rate between the two discs. Furthermore, as the magnetic field and radiation number rise, the rate of heat transfer at the lower and top discs decreases. The numerical results in the form of a table are compared with the available literature, and our results beat the previously published work. The results described here are desirable choices for thermal uses such as automotive cooling systems, solar thermal systems, engineering, medical areas, heat sinks, or current energy storage since they have demonstrated higher thermal characteristics and stability than simple nanofluids (NFs). In Table 6, a comparative numerical study is presented for the various of state variables with the available literature, where the present study is validated.

Abstract:This paper explores the heat and mass transfer by hybrid nanofluids flow over a spinning disk in the presence of oxytactic microorganisms. During this study, the Soret and Dufour together with Lorentz force impacts are considered. The worked nano-mixture is assumed to be having time-dependent dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity and its components are methanol-based hybrid nanofluid comprising CuO and MgO nanoparticles. The disk surface is permeable and various aspects such as thermal radiation, heat generation and Arrhenius activation energy are taken into account. The governing equations are treated numerically and suitable similar transformations are introduced. The obtained results revealed that both of the velocity and temperature gradients are enhanced as the absolute values of unsteadiness parameter and nanoparticles concentrations are rising. However, the flow is slowdown as the temperature-dependent variable viscosity parameter is growing.

Abstract:The hybrid nanofluid has sparked new significance in the industrial and engineering sectors because of their applications like water heating in solar and analysis of heat exchanger surfaces. As a result, the current study emphasizes the analysis of heat transfer and Agrawal axisymmetric flow towards a rotational stagnation point incorporated via hybrid nanofluids imposing on a radially permeable shrinking/stretching rotating disk. The leading partial differential equations are refined into ordinary differential equations by using appropriate similarity variables. The bvp4c solver in MATLAB is then employed to solve the simplified system numerically. The current numerical procedure is adequate of generating double solutions when excellent initial guesses are implemented. The results show that the features of fluid flow along with heat transfer rate induced by hybrid nanofluid are significantly influenced. The Nusselt number and the tendency of the wall drag force can be improved as the concentration of nanoparticles and the suction factor are increased. Moreover, the results of the model have been discussed in detail for both solution branches due to the cases of rotating disk parameter as well as non-rotating disk parameter. Therefore, an extraordinary behavior is observed for the branch of lower solutions in the case of rotating disk parameter. In addition, the shear stress in the radial direction upsurges for the first solution but declines for the second solution with higher values of suction. Moreover, the rotating parameter slows down the separation of the boundary layer.

Abstract:The study of hybrid nanofluids over spinning cylindrical configurations is widely used in numerous engineering and technological applications. Compared to conventional coolants, nanofluids explore superior thermal conductivities and thereby promote outstanding heat transport capabilities. In this study, hybrid nanofluid flow and thermal transmission across a vertical spinning cylinder are examined in the presence of an externally applied transverse magnetic field. The working fluids used are Ag/water nanofluid and Al 2 O 3 -Ag/water hybrid nanofluid. The analysis of heat transmission is carried out in the presence of slip and convective conditions, nonlinear thermal radiation, activation energy, and viscous dissipation. Partial differential equations (PDEs) are used to model the physical situation and are subsequently transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Through the use of MATLAB's bvp4c technique for ODEs, graphical and computational results are produced and validated with previously reported studies. The important findings are that the flow field diminishes as the magnetic field parameter and Reynolds number increase. Further, for larger levels of nano particle's fraction and thermal Biot number, the thermal features increase. Moreover, it is noted that the mass diffusion rate is lowered by the system's activation energy.

Abstract:Abstract The heat and mass transportation for nanofluid across a swirling cylinder under the actions of magnetic effects and Cattaneo–Christov heat flux is reported in the current analysis. The objective of this study is to examine the energy and mass transmissions through hybrid nanofluid under the influence of heat source/sink and reactive species. The hybrid nanoliquid has been prepared by the dispersion of silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs) in the base fluid ethylene glycol (C 2 H 6 O 2 ). The flow phenomena are expressed in the form of nonlinear partial differential equations and are converted to a nondimensional form, by employing the similarity substitution. For the computational estimation of the problem, the parametric continuation method is employed. The demonstration of velocity, mass, and energy outlines versus distinct physical factors is exposed in the form of figures. It has been perceived that the axial and swirling velocity outline drops with the influence of the Reynolds number, magnetic effect, and the insertion of Au and Ag NPs in C 2 H 6 O 2 . Furthermore, the hybrid nanofluid energy curve declines with the effect of the Reynolds number, thermal relaxation factor, and the volume friction of NPs.

Abstract:In recent years, investigations on hybrid nanofluids have rapidly increased, and results show that hybrid nanofluids are more valuable heat transfer fluids for engineering applications due to their excellent thermophysical characteristics. Therefore, the present numerical study is conducted to approximate the thermal transport characteristics of hybrid nanofluids over a vertical stretching/shrinking surface. The hybrid nanoparticles are alumina (Al2O3) and silver (Ag), with water as the base fluid. The transportation phenomenon occur in Darcy-Forchheimer medium porous material with thermal radiation, Joule heating and heat source/sink effects. The governing PDEs are transformed by a appropriate similarity transformations into non-linear ODEs. In MATLAB, the built-in numerical approach bvp4c is used to proceed the approximate integration of flow work. The behaviors of some physical flow constraints are analyzed through graphs and numerical values. The results revealed that a rise in nanoparticles volume fraction boosts the friction drag coefficient and shows a declining trend toward thermal transfer. Furthermore, for the first solution, the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate rise as the suction strength increases. In addition, raising the magnetic parameter value enhances the flow field while reducing the fluid temperature.

Abstract:Abstract The fluid flow across spinning discs has several applications in different fields of engineering such as flywheels, gas turbine engines, brakes, and gears. The significance of heat source, Hall current, and magnetic field on the nanofluid flow between two spinning disks is studied in the present analysis. The upper disk spins as well as rotates, which generates the 3D flow. The evaluation and modeling of the mass density, flow motion, and energy transfer are performed using a system of partial differential equations (PDEs). The computational technique parametric continuation method (PCM) is employed to solve the modeled equations. The outcomes are relatively compared to the published literature for validity purposes. It has been noticed that during the downward motion of the upper disc, the effect of the magnetic field declines, while the influence of the hall current improves the velocity field. The temperature field rises with the ascending motion of the upper disk, whereas it shrinks with the downhill oscillation. Moreover, the mass diffusion ratio develops with the impact of hall current, while lessens with the influence of chemical reaction.

Abstract:This work examines the heat transfer properties of magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid flow. Through a similarity conversion, the leading structure of partial differential equations is changed to that of ordinary differential equations. A rigorous mathematical bvp4c methodology is used to generate numerical results. The purpose of this study is to characterize the different temperature, concentration, and velocity limitations on a nanofluid with a magnetic effect that is spinning. The findings for rotating nanofluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of nanoparticles are shown using graphs and tables. The influence of physical factors such as heat transfer rates and skin friction coefficients is studied. When the magnetic parameter M is raised, the velocity of the nanoliquid decreases. A rise in thermal radiation (Rd) causes the temperature graphs to grow substantially, although the concentration profiles exhibit the opposite tendency. The effect of the convective heat transfer factor Bi on temperature is shown to increase as Bi increases, but the concentration distribution decreases as Biot increases.

Abstract:The primary goal of this investigation is to examine the heat and flow characteristics of a hybrid nanofluid consisting of silver (Ag) and aluminum oxide (Al[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text] nanoparticles over an unsteady radially stretching sheet embedded in porous medium. The investigation is conducted under the influence of several key parameters, namely joule heating, viscous dissipation, porous, slip, and suction. The technique of similarity transformations is used to transform the governing system of PDEs into nonlinear ODEs and the bvp4c solver is used to solve them numerically. The present study examines the influence of sphere and platelet shape nanoparticles on the temperature and velocity profiles. The outcomes are discussed through graphs and tables. A rise in the porous, slip, and suction parameters makes the velocity profile decrease gradually. The temperature escalates when Biot number, magnetic parameter, and Eckert number increase. As compared to sphere shapes, platelet-shaped nanoparticles exhibit the greatest heat transfer and flow. Results reveal that by using Ag-Al[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]/H[Formula: see text]O hybrid nanofluid with a volume fraction of 5%, the heat transfer enhancement of platelet shape nanoparticles increased by 11.88% than sphere-shaped nanoparticles. Overall, the platelet shape of nanoparticles offers distinctive advantages in various engineering applications, primarily due to their large surface area, anisotropic properties, and tunable surface chemistry. These properties make them versatile tools for improving the performance of materials and systems in engineering fields. The findings can contribute to the design and optimization of nanofluid-based systems in various engineering applications, such as heat exchangers, microfluidics, and energy conversion devices.

Abstract:<p>This work addresses the three-dimensional flow of hybrid nanofluid owing to a rotating disk of variable thickness in the attendance of modified Fourier law. The hybrid nanofluid is comprised of gold and silver nanoparticles and engine oil taken as the base fluid. The heat transfer impact is analyzed in the employment of melting heat transfer. To analyze the traits of the fluid flow, Tiwari and Das model is utilized. The strongly non-linear system of governing equations is handled through the appropriate similarity transformations to obtain the coupled differential equations' system that is solved numerically using the bvp4c scheme. The physiognomies of numerous parameters versus the radial and tangential velocities and heat transfer are depicted via graphs and cogitated accordingly. It is witnessed that the velocity and the heat transfer of the hybrid nanofluid flow possesses a substantial impact in comparison to the nanofluid. It is inferred from this that the performance of the hybrid-nanofluid is far better than the common nanofluid. The current findings are compared to those of a previously published study in a limiting case. A reliable agreement between the numeric values is achieved here.</p>

Abstract:The fluid flow over a revolving disc has gained significant attention in several engineering fields due to their superior heat transfer characteristics and thermal conductivity. Some potential applications include heat exchangers, cooling systems, aerospace industry, renewable energy systems and manufacturing processes. Therefore, in proposed model, the Iron (II, III) oxide or black iron oxide along with silver nanoparticles are mixed up vacuum pump oil for the synthesis of hybrid nanofluid. Furthermore, the magnetohydrodynamics couple stress hybrid nanofluids flow with an application of Hall current and heat radiation is studied. The effects of Joule heating and Cattaneo–Christov heat-mass flux theory are also employed on the fluid flow. Motile microorganisms have the potential to strengthen the mixing and dispersion of nanoparticles within the nanofluid, resulting in more enhanced heat transport properties; that is why, they are additionally introduced to the base fluid. The modeled equations are reset into the non-dimensional lowest order form, by using the traditional Von Karman's similarity approach. The obtained system of nonlinear differential equations is numerically resolved through parametric computation. It has been noticed that the variation of solutal and thermal time relaxation parameters drops the concentration and energy profiles of the Hnf. The heat conduction rate is amplified with the rising impact of thermal radiation.

Abstract:Abstract Heat and mass transfer are crucial to numerous technical and commercial operations, including air conditioning, machinery power collectors, crop damage, processing food, heat transfer mechanisms, and cooling, among numerous others. The fundamental purpose of this research is to use the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model to disclose an MHD flow of ternary hybrid nanofluid through double discs. The results of a heat source and a magnetic field are therefore included in a system of PDEs that model the occurrences. These are transformed into an ODE system using similarity replacements. The first-order differential equations that emerge are then handled using the computational technique Bvp4c shooting scheme. The Bvp4c function in MATLAB is used to numerically solve the governing equations. The influence of the key important factors on velocity, temperature, nanoparticles concentration, and is illustrated visually. Furthermore, increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles improves thermal conduction, increasing the heat transfer rate at the top disc. The graph indicates that a slight increase in melting parameter rapidly declines the velocity distribution profile of nanofluid. The temperature profile was boosted due to the growing outcomes of the Prandtl number. The increasing variations of the thermal relaxation parameter decline the thermal distribution profile. Furthermore, for some exceptional instances, the obtained numerical answers were compared to previously disclosed data, yielding a satisfactory compromise. We believe that this discovery will have far-reaching ramifications in engineering, medicine, and the field of biomedical technology. Additionally, this model can be used to examine biological mechanisms, surgical techniques, nano-pharmacological drug delivery systems, and the therapy of diseases like cholesterol using nanotechnology.

Numerical Heat Transfer Part A Applications

Abstract:Non-Newtonian nanofluids are attracting the attention of researchers and academics due to the high heat transmission rates that they possess. To improve thermal devices and exchangers, the researchers come up with innovative and expense-effective methods. One of the advanced technological approaches that can be utilized to enhance the thermal performance of devices is the utilization of nanofluids. This non- Newtonian nanofluid possesses the advanced properties of increasing heat transfer and destroying harmful bacteria. For this purpose, the present theoretical work is to explore the heat and thermophoretic particle deposition analysis on the tangent hyperbolic nanofluid flow over the rotating porous disk with presence of non-Fourier heat flux model and nanoparticle aggregation effect. Darcy-Forchheimer fluid model is adopted to develop the fluid flow system. Furthermore, the nanofluid's viscosity and thermal conductivity are expressed through advanced modeling, employing the modified Krieger-Dougherty model for viscosity and the Maxwell-Bruggeman model for thermal conductivity. The nanoparticles and base fluid involved in this context are Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and Water/carboxyl-methyl cellulose (CMC) respectively. The mathematical representation of the fluid flow and energy propagation involves a system of coupled partial differential equations (PDEs). The system of partial differential equations (PDEs) is transformed into non-dimensional ordinary differential equations (ODEs), which are then solved both analytically and numerically using the Homotopy Analysis Method(HAM) and Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg (RKF) method along with shooting technique. Exploring the graphical representation reveals a comprehensive analysis of key factors influencing velocity, temperature, and concentration. Through innovative visualization, these parameters take center stage, providing insights into their intricate interplay and dynamic relationships. The heat transfer rate is enhanced 0.24% and 1.4% by rising the values of thermal relaxation parameter and Weissenberg number. Also, the mass transfer rate is accelerated 0.8% and 0.14% due to enhancing the values of thermophoretic coefficient and thermophoresis parameter.

Abstract:This study observes the 2-D flow of a Maxwell hybrid nanofluid flow on a permeable stretching surface containing Cu and CuO nanoparticles and gyrotactic microorganisms. The thermal convective and zero-mass flux constraints are adopted by incorporating a hot working fluid with a heat transfer coefficient and zero mass flow at the permeable sheet's surface to investigate the heat transfer rate. This study is designed to present a comparative analysis of the nanofluid (Cu–water) as well as hybrid nanofluid (Cu–CuO/water) flows on a stretching sheet. Examining activation energy in water-based hybrid nanofluid flow offers important insights into the kinetics of chemical reactions, which in turn helps to optimize the features of the nanofluid and build more effective systems that use nanofluids for a variety of applications. The problem formulated initially is converted to dimension-free notation using appropriate variables for finding the numerical solution by incorporating the bvp4c MATLAB function. From the obtained results, it is found that the higher magnetic and porosity factors have declined the velocity profiles. Also, in the absence of porous media and magnetic field effects, the velocity distribution is highly affected when compared with the existence of these effects. It is observed that the velocity profiles of both nanofluids are dominant for Newtonian fluid in comparison to non-Newtonian fluid. Also, the thermal profiles of both nanofluids are dominant for non-Newtonian fluid in comparison to Newtonian fluid. The friction force of hybrid nanofluid is significantly influenced by the magnetic factor, porosity factor, and volume fractions of the solid nanoparticles when compared to nanofluid.

Abstract:In light of the exciting potential of nanofluids, this work presents a new mathematical model for enhancing heat transfer using tri-hybrid nanofluids. In this study, the influence of heat production/abstraction and mass suction on MHD stagnation point flow in a nonlinearly stretching/shrinking sheet of a tri-hybrid nanofluid based on water is investigated. Boundary conditions based on the Maxwell velocity slip and the Smoluchowski temperature are also considered. We shall model the flow-control equations based on our assumptions. An ordinary differential equation system may be constructed from nonlinear partial differential equations for which a similarity transformation does not provide an exact solution. In MATHEMATICA 10, the shooting with Runge-Kutta (RK-IV) technique will be used to solve the reduced equations analytically. There were charts and figures showing how different variables affected the speeds of motion, temperature, skin friction coefficient, and local heat transmission. The characteristics of volume fraction, mass suction, magnetic field, and stretching all contribute to the acceleration of nanoparticles. When the nanoparticle volume fraction and heat production parameters increase, the temperature profile improves, but the mass suction, magnetic, and stretching parameters decrease. Compared to ordinary fluid, the Nusselt number reveals an improvement of around 9.8% for nanofluid, 19.85% for hybrid nanofluid, and 44.04% for tri-hybrid nanofluid when the strength of S is raised from 2.0 to 2.4. The heat transfer rate of the tri-hybrid nanofluid is also superior to that of the hybrid nanofluid and the traditional nanofluid. Results from this study were compared to those already in the literature, and they were determined to be quite consistent. Many other fields might benefit from this study, including those dealing with extreme heat or cold, aerospace technology, medicine, metal coatings, and biosensors.

Abstract:This study explores the statistical and stability analyses for the flow of nanofluids over a moving surface with melting heat transfer under thermal radiation and viscous dissipation impacts. Different fluids including ternary hybrid nanofluid, hybrid nanofluids, and nanofluids with base fluid ethylene glycol (EG) are examined, where magnetite (Fe3O4) and silica (SiO2) are taken as the magnetic nanomaterials while silver (Ag) is chosen as the nonmagnetic nanomaterial. By employing similarity transformations, the partial differential equations are converted into non-linear ordinary differential equations. The least square method is utilized to solve the equations analytically. Dual solutions are established in a particular range of moving parameter λ and only one solution is found to be physically reliable. Therefore, a stability test is implemented on the problem by computing the eigenvalues using the bvp4c routine. Additionally, the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are estimated through regression analysis.It follows that the first solution is the stable one while the second is unstable. The use of ternary hybrid nanomaterials improves the heat transport rate. The increasing values of the Eckert number enlarge the heat passage. The fluid velocity and temperature profiles for nonmagnetic nanomaterials are higher than that of magnetic nanomaterials. The uniqueness and originality of this study stems from the fact that, to the best of the authors' knowledge, it is the first to use this combination technique.
