Abstract:The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic brought a tectonic shift in the otherwise traditional education sector. The classroom teaching approach, which has been followed in educational institutions for a long time, suddenly shifted to include e-learning through virtual platforms. Technological savviness is no longer a choice. As institutions were contemplating opening their campuses to students, they faced a dilemma to include a mode of learning that could impact the students positively and increase their overall learning effectiveness. At the same time, a total online mode of learning was not inclusive enough for the learners without access to seamless internet connectivity. In this context, the present study aims to draw a comparison between the three modes of learning: face-to-face education, online learning, and blended learning. The difference in the three modes of learning was assessed on the content of the course, facilitation, perceived value, and learning effectiveness. The data for the study were collected from 119 students studying in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The study's findings suggest a significant difference between the three modes of learning in terms of facilitation, perceived value, and learning effectiveness. However, the results also suggest that there was no significant difference between the three modes in terms of content. While content creates a more substantial impact through some parameters in one particular mode of learning, it does not create a similar impact through others. The study also delves into a pairwise comparison of each construct's learning modes that have shown a significant difference. The results can guide institutions towards choosing a suitable mode of learning for the students by considering a holistic approach.

Abstract:Technology has influenced every aspect of our living, and education is not an exception. During the current pandemic period of COVID-19, the latent motive of maintaining social distancing is leading to be one of the prime reasons for the students to get enrolled in online courses. Although the benefits of e-learning have been discussed in various previous studies, it is important to understand the quality of e-learning and the satisfaction level of learners during this forceful shift toward e-learning amid the pandemic of COVID-19. This research proposes a conceptual model for understanding the variables influencing e-learning quality (ELQ) and learner satisfaction under the moderating effect of maintaining social distancing. The model is empirically validated by means of the partial least square approach through structural equation modeling based on 435 responses of university students in India. The results suggest that assurance, reliability, responsiveness, and website content are the factors that influence the ELQ of the online courses during the pandemic. ELQ also strongly influences the learner’s satisfaction. Interestingly, perceived benefits of maintaining social distancing have a significant negative moderating effect only between empathy and ELQ, which leads to the satisfaction of the learners.

Abstract:Higher education institutions worldwide had to quickly pivot to delivering online classes as the COVID-19 pandemic set in. This disruption brought into focus institutional preparedness to ensure academic continuity, faculty proficiency in the use of ICT, and student readiness to adapt to an online-only model suggested in Education 4.0 framework. The Education 4.0 framework emphases to use advance technology and tools to transform education system. It was initially envisaged that the online-only model of education will at best be a stop-gap arrangement. However, as the pandemic continues unabated across India, the education community needs actionable data to fine-tune its online delivery model, to ensure its effectiveness, and retain its value perception in the eyes of the stakeholders. This is a critical aspect as evidence suggests that the initial high level of online engagement is petering out due to overexposure, mental saturation, and fatigue among both the students and faculty members. This research paper examines the perceptions, attitudes, and experiences of stakeholders involved in online education from Jammu, a Tier-III city in India. The study asserts that real “value creation” in an online mode can happen when all the stakeholders are equally motivated and working together. Institutions need to prioritize value delivery, support faculty members, provide the needed resources, and set clear expectations.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in nearly all universities switching courses to online formats. We surveyed the online learning experience of undergraduate students ( n = 187) at a large, public research institution in course structure, interpersonal interaction, and academic resources. Data was also collected from course evaluations. Students reported decreases in live lecture engagement and attendance, with 72 percent reporting that low engagement during lectures hurt their online learning experience. A majority of students reported that they struggled with staying connected to their peers and instructors and managing the pace of coursework. Students had positive impressions, however, of their instructional staff. Majorities of students felt more comfortable asking and answering questions in online classes, suggesting that there might be features of learning online to which students are receptive, and which may also benefit in-person classes.

Abstract:In this study, we will examine how online learning affects students' self-efficacy, generalized anxiety, and fear of COVID-19 on three different levels of online learning satisfaction. Data analysis gave a rudimentary understanding of the results obtained. It was also utilized to examine the different levels of online learning satisfaction connected with important study criteria. Online learning self-efficacy was strongly and favorably linked to online learning satisfaction. With respect to online self-efficacy, overall nervousness, and the fear of taking the COVID-19 exam, the discriminant analysis showed that there were three distinct levels of pleasure with online learning. After that, two distinct purposes emerged: intellectual engagement and fear. Online self-efficacy and general anxiety were shown to be linked to academic engagement in a study, but not COVID-19. A high level of online learning pleasure was connected with a moderate level of overall anxiety. Additionally, the fear of COVID-19 has to be alleviated in order to achieve happiness with online learning.

Abstract:As the COVID-19 pandemic threatens an academic calendar, educational institutes throughout the world have closed. For continuing the academic tasks, utmost institutions (educational) have opted for Online Learning (OL) platforms. Additionally, amid the pandemic, students have been extremely susceptible to Mental Health (MH) issues. It was exhibited by the researchers that perceived stress together with MH issues has augmented amid the pandemic. The identification of the insight of school students concerning online education along with their Stress Level (SL) amid the covid-19 pandemic is this work’s main objective. An online questionnaire is distributed to 800 Indian school students, utilizing which, a survey was carried out after ‘10’ weeks of just OL. By utilizing routine statistical software, data amassed as of the survey were analyzed. The main cons are the lack of interactions with teachers, technical intricacy, and also poor networking signal, which was chosen by most respondents. OL could not substitute formal learning, even though it works as a short-term alternative on account of COVID-19. The study will be used for knowing the importance of the learning technologies which can be used during the disaster and Government & education institutes can improve the technology enhanced learning in future days.

Abstract:Abstract COVID-19 has impacted educational processes in most countries: some educational institutions have closed, while others, particularly in higher education, have converted to online learning systems, due to the advantages offered by information technologies. This study analyzes the critical factors influencing students’ satisfaction with their continuing use of online learning management systems in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the integration of social cognitive theory, expectation confirmation theory, and DeLone and McLean’s IS success model, a survey was conducted of 181 UK students who engaged with learning management systems. It was found that, during the pandemic, service quality did not influence students’ satisfaction, although both information quality and self-efficacy had significant impacts on satisfaction. In addition, the results revealed that neither self-efficacy nor satisfaction impacted personal outcome expectations, although prior experience and social influence did. The findings have practical implications for education developers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to develop effective strategies for and improve the use of learning management systems during the pandemic.

Abstract:Objective: This study aims to examine the self-efficacy levels of college students in the online learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose is to understand the impact of self-efficacy on students' motivation, behavior, and achievement in online learning. Theoretical framework: The study is grounded in Bandura's social cognitive theory, which emphasizes the importance of self-efficacy in influencing individuals' actions and outcomes. The theory suggests that higher levels of self-efficacy lead to increased motivation and better performance. Method: The study utilizes a cross-sectional design and involves 824 randomly selected college students from Cagayan State University Gonzaga Campus. Data collection is conducted through a self-efficacy questionnaire and semi-structured interviews to gather comprehensive insights into students' experiences. Results and conclusion: The study finds high levels of self-efficacy among college students in the online learning environment, except for informal mingling, interacting with professors, and collaborating with classmates. The findings also show a significant correlation between students' year level and self-efficacy levels. Implications of the research: This study highlights the importance of targeted support to enhance students' self-efficacy in informal communication and collaboration. Abstract:Background: COVID-19 pandemic shocked the world; it changes everybody's life, especially in education and online learning becomes a new culture. Aim of the study: To assess effect of online learning on psychological wellbeing, academic resilience, and self-efficacy among college students. Subjects and Methods: Research design: A descriptive design was employed. Setting: The study was conducted at faculty of nursing Benha University, Egypt. Subjects: A convenience sample of 400 students from the Faculty of Nursing at Benha University, Qalyubia Governorate. Tool of data collection: Tool (1) Personal data about the students. Tool (II) Psychological Well-being Scale. Tool (III) Academic Resilience Scale. Tool (IV). Online Learning Self-Efficacy Scale. Results: The findings revealed a negative impact of online learning on all three variables: Less than two-thirds of the students reported low levels of psychological well-being, suggesting potential detrimental effects on their mental and emotional health. Similar proportions of students exhibited low level of academic resilience and poor level of online learning self-efficacy, indicating decreased capacity to navigate academic difficulties with decrease student`s confidence in their ability to succeed in the online environment. Conclusion: Statistically significant strong correlations were observed on psychological wellbeing, academic resilience, and self-efficacy among college students. This suggests that lower academic resilience and online self-efficacy are associated with decreased psychological well-being. Recommendations: Develop and implement psycho-educational modules that enhance students' self-efficacy in online learning environments and Equip students with effective stress management skills and foster academic resilience to navigate challenges associated with online learning.

Abstract:The study in this article addresses three research questions: a) how do college students view the effectiveness of technology-mediated virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic; b) how does virtual learning impact their perceived mental health; and c) what is the mode of learning they most prefer? It follows an explanatory research design and survey method. Data are collected using a questionnaire with a purposive sample of 102 students and interviews with 20 students and 40 faculty members in India. The conceptual framework of this study is quite similar to the modified version of the Technology Acceptance Model (Venkatesh and Davis, 2000). The study reveals that 86% of the students find virtual learning to be ineffective. Such learning not only fails to provide adequate opportunities for experiential learning for developing knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities but also creates several perceived mental health problems. This study may help higher education institutions while designing and implementing virtual teaching-learning systems in order to prevent their negative impact on student’s perceived mental health in future crises. Abstract:This research aims to study the effectiveness of online teaching, from student and faculty perspectives, during the Covid‐19 Pandemic in higher education institutions across India. Using the Student's Evaluation of Online Teaching Effectiveness (SEOTE) scale, a survey was conducted among 1042 students in different Indian universities. The scale measured student faculty contact (SFC), cooperation among students (CAS), active learning (AL), prompt feedback (PF), time on task (TT), high expectations (HE), and diverse talents and ways of learning (DTWL). The research instrument also included three open‐ended questions. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Human Development Index (HDI). The Online Teaching Effectiveness Index (OTEI) value was moderate at 0.62. Challenging aspects of online education were found to be access, learning experience, technology, resources, and infrastructure, the need for face‐to‐face interaction, and the health hazards of long screen time. The survey of 60 faculty members recorded online teaching to be sustainable, backed by institute support, flexible, and creates the possibility of peer learning. Lack of training resources, unsuitability of course design and practical courses for online mode, and the need for an overhaul of pedagogy were the challenges. Policymakers and digital companies should include infrastructural changes and investments at both the institutional and digital platforms level.

Abstract:The study's main purpose was to discover the important factors that impact university students' online learning and academic performance during the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as their usage of social media throughout the pandemic. Constructivism theory was used and developed with constructs mostly linked to leveraging social media for collaborative learning and student interaction during the COVID-19 pandemic, given the context-dependent nature of online learning during the epidemic. During the COVID-19 epidemic, additional components such as collaborative learning, student participation, and online learning were implemented. The enlarged model, which assesses students' happiness and academic performance during the COVID-19 epidemic in connection to social media use, was validated using empirical data collected via an online survey questionnaire from 480 Saudi Arabian higher education students. AMOS-SEM was used to analyze the model's various assumptions (Analysis of Moment Structures-Structural Equation Modeling). The findings revealed that (1) using social media for collaborative learning and students' engagement has a direct positive impact on students' interactivity with peers and teachers; (2) students' interactivity with peers and teachers has a direct positive impact on online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic; (3) online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic mediates the relationship between students' interactivity and satisfaction; (4) online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic mediates the relationship between students' interactivity and satisfaction. Students, higher education institutions, and educational technology application suppliers would benefit greatly from the conclusions of this study, both theoretically and practically.

Abstract:Online learning is one of the educational solutions for students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Worldwide, most universities have shifted much of their learning frameworks to an online learning model to limit physical interaction between people and slow the spread of COVID-19. The effectiveness of online learning depends on many factors, including student and instructor self-efficacy, attitudes, and confidence in using the technology involved; the educational strategies employed; the ability to monitor and evaluate educational outcomes; and student motivation, among many others. In this study, we analyzed how these factors were associated and impacted each other. We developed a comprehensive model after an extensive review of the relevant literature. The model was validated by applying partial least square regression to the data obtained by surveying 469 students who were enrolled in online education. The test results indicated that all the variables had a positive effect on the effectiveness of online learning. The effectiveness of online learning had a significant impact on the benefits of online learning. This showed that the more effective online learning was, the more benefits and positive outcomes the student experienced. The result of this research showed that learning objectives could enable universities to increase the effectiveness of students’ online learning by motivating students to join online classes and developing appropriate learning strategies for their individual needs.

Abstract:Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many areas of the human and organizational ventures worldwide. This includes new innovative technologies and strategies being developed by educators to foster the rapid learning-recovery and reinstatement of the stakeholders (e.g., teachers and students). Indeed, the main challenge for educators has been on what appropriate steps should be taken to prevent learning loss for the students; ranging from how to provide efficient learning tools/curriculum that ensures continuity of learning, to provision of methods that incorporate coping mechanisms and acceleration of education in general. For several higher educational institutions (HEIs), technology-mediated education has become an integral part of the modern teaching/learning instruction amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, when digital technologies have consequently become an inevitable and indispensable part of learning. To this effect, this study defines a hybrid educational model (HyFlex + Tec) used to enable virtual and in-person education in the HEIs. Practically, the study utilized data usage report from Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Emotions and Experience Survey questionnaire in a higher education setting for its experiments. To this end, we applied an Exponential Linear trend model and Forecasting method to determine overall progress and statistics for the learners during the Covid-19 pandemic, and subsequently performed a Text Mining and Univariate Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine effects and significant differences that the teaching–learning experiences for the teachers and students have on their energy (learning motivation) levels. From the results, we note that the hybrid learning model supports continuity of education/learning for teachers and students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study also discusses its innovative importance for future monitoring (tracking) of learning experiences and emotional well-being for the stakeholders in leu (aftermath) of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract:Due to COVID-19, higher education institutions transitioned to online learning. This study explored college students' perceptions of their adoption, use, and acceptance of emergency online learning. The factors analyzed were attitude, affect, and motivation; perceived behavioral control (ease of use of technology, self-efficacy, and accessibility), and cognitive engagement. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected from 270 students. The findings present how attitude, motivation, self-efficacy, and use of technology play a significant role in the cognitive engagement and academic performance of students. Also, participants preferred face-to-face learning over online learning. This study presents suggestions on how to improve the acceptance of emergency online learning.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic caused colleges and universities to rely heavily on online learning to continue knowledge dissemination to learners. This study used the second-generation model of unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) to comprehensively analyze the mediating effects of self-efficacy , which affects learners’ effective use of online tools for learning, and capability of metacognition and self-regulation , which can independently adjust learning progress into the UTAUT2 model, on the learner’s willingness to continue online learning [i.e., their behavioral intention (BI)] by constructing a UTAUT2-based e-learning model. This study administered questionnaires to undergraduates in universities in East China to collect data. The effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FCs), hedonic motivation (HM), price value (PV), and habits on BI (directly or through mediators) were analyzed through data analysis and structural equation modeling, and the UTAUT2-based e-learning model was accordingly modified. The results indicated that the self-efficacy enhanced the effects of EE, SI, FCs, HM, and PV on learners’ BI; that metacognition and self-regulation (MS) capabilities enhanced the effects of EE on learners’ BI; and that habits had a direct and strong effect on BI. This study also provided some suggestions to enhance higher education learners’ willingness to continue online learning, such as improving social recognition and support, careful design of teaching content, easy-to-use technology, financial support. These results and suggestions may guide colleges and universities in conducting, continuing, or enhancing online education, particularly as the pandemic continues.

Exploring the acceptance for e-learning among higher education students in India: combining technology acceptance model with external variables

Abstract:The concept of e-learning has now become fundamental in student learning process. This concept becomes even more relevant in situations of global crisis such as that arising from COVID-19. Since this pandemic there have been tectonic shifts in the education sector. Effective implementation of e-learning in higher education depends on students' adoption of this technology. So, this study aimed to identify the factors influencing the behavioral intentions and actual usage of students in adopting e-learning. Additionally, it also examined the mediation effects among different latent constructs. Based on technology acceptance model (TAM), an explanatory structural model of technology acceptance was tested along with introduction of three external variables. To do this, a quantitative investigation was conducted using an online survey of higher education students in India, obtaining 570 responses. The structural model was examined through the partial least square structural equation modeling. Results obtained make it possible to validate the proposed model as findings explains the 56.2% variance of actual usage. In addition, it shows the direct and indirect effect of all three selected external variables of personal innovativeness, social factors and self-efficacy on the main constructs of TAM. The findings of this study are relevant for the higher education management, administration, e-learning system developers, marketers and researchers for improving the effective usage of e-learning by developing more focused and customized learning solutions.

Abstract:The unpredictable lockdown period due to COVID-19 has kept everything on hold, and along with other sectors, the educational sector is the most affected. This study attempted to map out the fragility of higher educational institutions in adopting new learning methods and the effectiveness achieved. This is descriptive research based on an empirical investigation of the current issues related to sudden changes in the knowledge delivery process in regular classes of colleges and universities in developing countries like India. Five constructs, namely quality delivery, effectiveness, organisational support, self-efficacy, and readiness were evaluated to measure learners’ perceived satisfaction. Appropriate statistical tools were applied to analyse the data, along with hypothesis testing. A few institutions have effectively adjusted the learning process, but its prolificacy is doubtful in the majority of cases. Many (about 62 percent) reported that through assignments and study materials, it is difficult to clear the concepts, especially in the case of practical subjects. There is an opinion that e-learning appears not to be as fruitful as regular conventional classes. It has become a little difficult to transform the centuries-old classroom teaching model due to a paucity of infrastructural readiness, prior experience in e-learning, drawbacks in learning methods, etc., which needs to be addressed by administration. The main barriers, as per our study, are the paucity of interactivity between the parties and drawbacks in the method adopted for teaching. This research did not include premier institutions like IITs, AIIMS, and other highly rated institutes in India, as our goal was to articulate the real situation below the creamy layer. The COVID-19 pandemic has opened new avenues to eliminate drawbacks and reconsider the pedagogical methods, teacher training, examination system, etc. for the insertion of e-learning in the education system.
Identifying factors influencing study skills engagement and participation for online learners in higher education during COVID-19

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted education across the world as campuses closed to restrict the spread of the virus. UK universities swiftly migrated to online delivery. The experiences of students and staff during this transition can inform our return to campus and our ability to deal with future disruption. This study draws on Moore's theory of transactional distance to understand factors influencing student study skills engagement and participation in online learning during this period. We surveyed students (n = 178) in a computing school at a UK university. A partial least squares (PLS) analysis was used to explore the influence of transactional distance (between students/teachers and between students/students), access to e-learning capital, and perceived usefulness on two measures: study skills engagement and participation in online collaborative activity. Results show that transactional distance influences participation, and e-learning capital influences study skills engagement. Our findings suggest that if universities continue with aspects of online learning for previously on-campus students they should provide access to infrastructure and training on utilising the online ecosystem to avoid disadvantaging students. Further investment in students' e-learning capital, such as signposting and adapting existing resources, is also necessary to support this key influence in study skills engagement.
