Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the rehabilitation effects on the cerebral palsy children.Method:Using the Gesell development schedules(GDS) to evaluate the cerebral palsy children aged under 3 years before and after the therapy.Result: The differences of the four functional areas(social area,adaptive area,language area,motor area) of the developmental age were significant( P 0.001),and the differences of the developmental quotient of the speech function and the adaption to other person were also significant ( P 0.05) comparing between before and after treatment by the Wilcoxon statistic way. Conclusion: GDS could be a way to evaluate the rehabilitation effects of the cerebral palsy children aged under 3 years,but it has its limitation and short comings. Abstract:Objective. To explore the effect of hospital-family rehabilitation intervention on walking function and lower limb surface electromyography in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Methods. About 100 children with CP treated in our hospital from February 2019 to April 2021 were enrolled. The patients were randomly assigned into control group and study group. The control group received routine intervention, and the study group received hospital-family rehabilitation intervention. The intervention effect, GMFM88 scale score, IMMG value, CR value, lower limb surface EMG value, and compliance of gastrocnemius muscle and tibialis anterior muscle were compared. Results. First of all, we compared the intervention effects. In the study group, 43 cases were markedly effective, 5 cases were effective, 1 case was improved, 1 case was ineffective, and the effective rate was 98.00%. In the control group, 22 cases were markedly effective, 14 cases were effective, 7 cases were improved, 7 cases were ineffective, and the effective rate of 86.00%. The intervention effect of the study group was better compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Secondly, we compared the scores of the GMFM88 scale. The scores of D area and E area and total score of the study group were higher compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). The IEMG values of gastrocnemius muscle and tibialis anterior muscle were compared, and the IMMG values of passive and active gastrocnemius muscle and tibialis anterior muscle in the study group were higher compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). There exhibited no significant difference in CR value before intervention ( P > 0.05 ). After intervention, the CR values of gastrocnemius muscle and tibialis anterior muscle in the study group were significantly lower compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). In terms of the surface EMG of lower limbs, the EMG value of passive activity (gastrocnemius muscle, tibialis anterior muscle) in the study group was higher compared to the control group, and the EMG value of active activity was significantly lower compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Finally, we compared the compliance. In the study group, there were 43 cases of complete compliance, 7 cases of compliance, and 0 cases of noncompliance, with a compliance rate of 100.00%. In the control group, there were 32 cases of complete compliance, 11 cases of compliance, and 7 cases of noncompliance with a compliance rate of 86.00%. The compliance rate of the study group was better compared to the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. The intervention of hospital-family rehabilitation model is helpful to improve the self-care ability, cognitive function, and daily activities of children with CP, enhance the walking function and lower limb surface electromyography of children with SCP, and strengthen their qualities of life.

Abstract:Abstract Background and Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the motor abilities of children with spastic cerebral palsy who were receiving functional physical therapy (physical therapy with an emphasis on practicing functional activities) improved more than the motor abilities of children in a reference group whose physical therapy was based on the principle of normalization of the quality of movement. Subjects. The subjects were 55 children with mild or moderate cerebral palsy aged 2 to 7 years (median=55 months). Methods. A randomized block design was used to assign the children to the 2 groups. After a pretest, the physical therapists for the functional physical therapy group received training in the systematic application of functional physical therapy. There were 3 follow-up assessments: 6, 12, and 18 months after the pretest. Both basic gross motor abilities and motor abilities in daily situations were studied, using the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and the self-care and mobility domains of the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), respectively. Results. Both groups had improved GMFM and PEDI scores after treatment. No time × group interactions were found on the GMFM. For the PEDI, time × group interactions were found for the functional skills and caregiver assistance scales in both the self-care and mobility domains. Discussion and Conclusion. The groups' improvements in basic gross motor abilities, as measured by the GMFM in a standardized environment, did not differ. When examining functional skills in daily situations, as measured by the PEDI, children in the functional physical therapy group improved more than children in the reference group.
Application of ICF-CY in Family Rehabilitation of Children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility of assessments of functional and environmental factors in children with Duchenne mus-cular dystrophy (DMD) under the frame of International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health-Children and Youth Version (ICF-CY). To execute family intervention and to evaluate its effects. Methods A 6-year-and-5-month-old boy with DMD was enrolled to the study. Functional and environmental factors were assessed with the North Star Ambulatory Assessment (NSAA), time tests, hand-held dyna-mometry assessment, body mass index and family interview. Plans of family intervention were settled and executed for one year and at the end of intervention, the boy received all the above assessments to compare the effects of intervention. Results After one-year family inter-vention, the muscle strength was improved or maintained in most muscles except abductors of hip and the body mass index did not change. For the activities, the scores of NSAA increased and maintained, and the result of time tests improved. Otherwise, attitude and execution of parents were improved. Conclusion It is feasible to execute family intervention under the frame of ICF-CY in children with DMD. Both children and their family may benefit from the intervention.

Abstract:PURPOSE: To evaluate the effects of hippotherapy on body functions, activities, and participation in children with CP of various functional levels by using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health-Children and Youth (ICF-CY) checklist.METHODS: Fourteen children with cerebral palsy (CP) (3-8 years of age) were recruited for a 36-week study composed of baseline, intervention, and withdrawal phases (12 weeks for each phase, ABA design). Hippotherapy was implemented for 30 min once weekly for 12 consecutive weeks during the intervention phase. Body Functions (b) and Activities and Participation (d) components of the ICF-CY checklist were used as outcome measures at the initial interview and at the end of each phase.RESULTS: Over the 12 weeks of hippotherapy, significant improvements in ICF-CY qualifiers were found in neuromusculoskeletal and movement-related functions (b7), mobility (d4) and major life areas (d8) and, in particular, mobility of joint functions (b710), muscle tone functions (b735), involuntary movement reaction functions (b755), involuntary movement functions (b765), and play (d811) (all p < 0.05) when compared with baseline.CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated the beneficial effects of hippotherapy on body functions, activities, and participation in children with CP. Implications for Rehabilitation ICF-CY provides a comprehensive overview of functioning and disability and constitutes a universal language for identifying the benefits of hippotherapy in areas of functioning and disability in children with CP. In children with CP, hippotherapy encourages a more complementary approach that extends beyond their impairments and limitations in body functions, activities, and participation. The effect of hippotherapy was distinct from GMFCS levels and the majority of improvements were present in children with GMFCS levels I-III.

Abstract:Objective: To assess and evaluate the change in functional skills among children with cerebral palsy (CP) who participated in an intensified habilitation program.Methods: In this prospective longitudinal study, a cohort of 39 preschool children (2–5 years) with cerebral palsy (Gross Motor Function Classification System levels I–V) together with their parents participated in an intensified multidimensional habilitation program for 1 year. Activities strengthening functional skills were among the main interventions. The children were evaluated with the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory before and after the program period.Results: Only children at GMFCS levels I–II showed improvements in mobility and social function on norm-referenced scales. After the intervention period, these children scored similar to the mean for typically developing children of the same age on the social function domain.Conclusions: Functional skills among preschool children with CP, GMFCS levels I–II, seems strengthened after participation in an intensified habilitation program.

Abstract:Background Most children with congenital heart disease (CHD) require surgical repair, and postoperative rehabilitation is an essential step to restore the quality of life. The present study constructs and confirms the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health for Children and Youth core set for children with congenital heart disease 1 year after surgery (ICF-CY-CHDS). Methods From February 2021 to August 2021, 340 children aged 3–6 years after CHD surgery were evaluated using the ICF-CY-CHDS and analyzed using the Rasch model. Results The final ICF-CY-CHDS contained 22 categories; it exhibited a nonsignificant χ 2 test result for the item-trait interaction (χ 2 = 6736.37, p = 0.8660, Bonferroni-adjusted p = 0.0023). The average severity of children was less than the average difficulty of categories (−2.26 logit <0 logit). The weighted k of all the categories was 0.964 ( p < 0.001), and the item separation index was 0.96. The area under the ROC curve of children with a diagnosis result of heart failure was 0.866 (95% CI: 0.801 ~0.931) with good sensitivity (0.875) and specificity (0.759). Conclusion The ICF-CY-CHDS presents a preliminary practical direction during early cardiac rehabilitation after pediatric CHD surgery, and thus provides a basis and scope for clinical evaluation and intervention program formulation.

Efficacy of programmes based on Conductive Education for young children with cerebral palsy

Abstract:Conductive Education (CE)-based programmes have been introduced to Australia over the past 10 years. The aim of this project was to compare these programmes with traditional neurodevelopmental programmes of rehabilitation for young children (12 to 36 months, mean age 22 months 3 weeks) with cerebral palsy. Thirty-four children were matched by age, motor impairment, and cognitive ability and randomly allocated to CE-based or equivalent-intensity control programmes. Those unwilling to be randomized (32) were still studied but their outcomes were treated separately. Our results indicate that children involved in CE-based programmes made similar progress to those involved in traditional programmes. Statistically significant changes were spread among the four groups of subjects. The findings also endorsed the measures used and the expected maturational effect was detected. Although there were major difficulties in conducting this randomized trial, it was achieved by gathering parental and professional support, and adequate funding.

Effect evaluation of early comprehensive intervention on children with cerebral palsy motor dysfunction of lower limbs curative

Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of early intervention treatment on children with cerebral palsy lower limb motor function.Methods 28 children with spastic cerebral palsy were given such early rehabilitation as water therapy,massage therapy,hyperbaric oxygen therapy,exercise therapy.The effects were evaluated by functional walking grading scale and gross motor assessment scale 6 months after treatment.Results After early comprehensive intervention,2 cases were cured,15 cases had marked effects and 10 cases had effects.The total effective rate was 96.43%.Scores of gross motor function and functional ambulation after intervention were higher than before(P0.05;P0.01).Conclusion Early comprehensive intervention would improve the motor function and quality of life of children with cerebral palsy.

Understanding social cognition in children with cerebral palsy: exploring the relationship with executive functions and the intervention outcomes in a randomized controlled trial

Abstract:Children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) experience Social Cognition (SC) difficulties, which could be related to executive functioning. While motor interventions are common, there is limited knowledge about the impact of cognitive interventions on SC in this population. This study examined the relationship between SC and Executive Function (EF) skills and the effectiveness of an EF intervention that included some SC tasks for improving SC in children with CP. SC and EF domains were assessed in 60 participants with CP (30 females; 8-12 years). The relationship between SC and EF baseline scores was analyzed by bivariate correlations and contingency tables. Participants were matched by age, sex, motor ability, and intelligence quotient and randomized into intervention or control groups. The intervention group underwent a 12-week home-based computerized EF intervention. Analysis of covariance was used to examine differences in SC components between groups at post-intervention and 9 months after. Significant positive correlations were found between the SC and EF scores. The frequencies of impaired and average scores in SC were distributed similarly to the impaired and average scores in EFs. The intervention group showed significant improvements in Affect Recognition performance post-intervention, which were maintained at the follow-up assessment, with a moderate effect size. Long-term improvements in Theory of Mind were observed 9 months after. Conclusions: This study highlights the association between SC and EFs. A home-based computerized cognitive intervention program improves SC in children with CP. Including SC tasks in EF interventions may lead to positive short- and long-term effects for children with CP. Clinical trial registration: NCT04025749 retrospectively registered on 19 July 2019. What is known: • Executive functions and social cognition are associated with social and community participation in people with cerebral palsy. • A home-based computerized cognitive intervention can improve the executive functioning of children with cerebral palsy. What is new: • Social cognition performance is related to core and higher-order executive functions. • A home-based computerized executive function intervention, including social cognition tasks, has positive short- and long-term effects on social cognition skills in children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the capability of contrast‐enhanced breath‐hold fast imaging with steady‐state precession (FISP) three‐dimensional MR angiography (MRA) to detect stenotic lesions of the abdominal aorta, the renal arteries, and the iliac arteries by using a k‐space‐centered 20‐ml gadolinium‐diethylene pentaacetic acid (Gd‐DTPA) bolus. Fifty patients were studied before conventional x‐ray angiography. Contrast‐enhanced breath‐hold FISP three‐dimensional MRA was applied in the coronal view, centered at the renal arteries. Twenty ml of Gd‐DTPA was used in all subjects. A test bolus was applied to determine the injection time for the k‐space‐centered bolus injection. Of 300 segments, 284 segments were classified correctly, 11 were overestimated, and five were underestimated. Sensitivity was 98%, specificity was 96%, positive predictive value was 96%, negative predictive value was 98%, and accuracy was 97%. Of the 50 patients studied, 43 were staged correctly. No venous overlay was seen in 31 patients; partial overlay was seen in 16 patients, and venous structure overlay obscuring arterial anatomy was found in two patients. Six of nine accessory renal arteries could be identified by MRA. Intraobserver variability was .94. This study has shown the ability of contrast‐enhanced breath‐hold FISP three‐dimensional MRA to detect and grade vascular lesions in the abdominal aorta and the renal arteries. The method may serve as a screening tool in the future.
Factors for changes in self-care and mobility capabilities in young children with cerebral palsy involved in regular outpatient rehabilitation care

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Assessing prognosis of self-care and mobility capabilities in children with cerebral palsy (CP) is important for goal setting, treatment guidance and meaningful professional-caregiver conversations.AIMS: Identifying factors associated with changes in self-care and mobility capabilities in regular outpatient multidisciplinary paediatric CP rehabilitation care.METHODS AND PROCEDURES: Routinely monitored longitudinal data, assessed with the Paediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI-Functional-Skills-Scale, FSS 0-100) was retrospectively analysed. We determined contributions of age, gross-motor function, bimanual-arm function, intellectual function, education type, epilepsy, visual function, and psychiatric comorbidity to self-care and mobility capability changes (linear-mixed-models).OUTCOMES AND RESULTS: For 90 children (53 boys), in all Gross-Motor-Function-Classification-System (GMFCS) levels, 272 PEDI's were completed. Mean PEDI-FSS-scores at first measurement (median age: 3,2 years) for self-care and mobility were 46.3 and 42.4, and mean final FSS-scores respectively were 55.1 and 53.1 (median age: 6,5 years). Self-care capability change was significantly associated with age (2.81, p < 0.001), GMFCS levels III-V (-9.12 to -46.66, p < 0.01), and intellectual impairment (-6.39, p < 0.01). Mobility capability change was significantly associated with age (3.25, p < 0.001) and GMFCS levels II-V (-6.58 to -47.12, p < 0.01).CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS: Most important prognostic factor for self-care and mobility capabilities is GMFCS level, plus intellectual impairment for self-care. Maximum capability levels are reached at different ages, which is important for individual goal setting and managing expectations.

Abstract:Cerebral palsy (CP) is a nonprogressive brain injury syndrome caused by various reasons in fetuses, infants, or children. [ 1 ] The main manifestations of CP are central motor disorders and postural abnormalities. Moreover, these may be accompanied by varying intellectual disability, sensory impairment, seizures, psychological and behavioral abnormalities, and other abnormalities. CP is not a single-disease, but a group of syndromes with different clinical manifestations. [ 2 , 3 ] During childhood, the brain is constantly developing and maturing. Before the age of 3, it is a crucial stage for brain growth and development. Therefore, the clinical manifestations of children with CP may exhibit different symptoms and signs as they age. For treating children with CP, comprehensive new methods should be adopted, including physical therapy, drug therapy, rehabilitation training, psychological therapy, etc. [ 4 , 5 ] The goal of treatment is to improve the symptoms and signs of the affected children, enhance their quality of life, and enable them to integrate into society as much as possible. Goal-activity-motor enrichment (GAME) therapy is a family-centered rehabilitation approach. GAME develops information and exercise training plans based on parents' issues and requirements and the problems faced by the child. It combines family education with a rich learning environment for children, which can alleviate their motor dysfunction through specific activities and exercise environments. [ 6–8 ] Family posture management is a method of adjusting and controlling posture for special needs children. Parents should maintain the correct posture of their children in their daily care. This can effectively prevent joint contracture deformation, reduce musculoskeletal deformities, and improve gross motor ability, thus enhancing the daily living activities of children. [ 9 , 10 ] In view of this, the study combines home posture control with GAME therapy to explore its impact on children's motor function with severe CP through randomized controlled trials. This paper aims to improve children's motor function having severe CP, enhance their daily living abilities, and lay a solid foundation for their future integration into society.

Effectiveness and expectations of intensive training: A comparison between child and youth rehabilitation and conductive education

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To compare the effectiveness of two intensive training-programmes from a professional and parent perspective. To describe and compare the type of expectations of the two intensive training programmes with the self-reported individualized goals.DESIGN: Quasi-experimental with two groups.SETTING AND INTERVENTION: Traditional health care and conductive education. PATIENTS AND THEIR PARENTS: Fifty-four children with cerebral palsy, 3-16 years old.METHODS: Data included a self-reported individualized goal measure (SRIGM), before and after the ITP. Individualized goals were classified according to the International Classification of Functioning (ICF). Clinical measures (CM) included repeated measures with Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory-Functional Skills (PEDI-FS).RESULTS: Twenty-eight parents out of 54 perceived a clinically significant improvement on the SRIGM with no significant difference between the training programmes. Most individualized goals were formulated in the domain of Mobility (115 out of 248) and Neuromusculoskeletal and movement-related functions (64 out of 248 goals) of ICF in both training programmes. There was no difference in the proportion of improvement measured with SRIGM compared to the CM, if an improvement in any dimension in GMFM or domain in PEDI FS was counted.CONCLUSION: There were no major differences in outcome and expectations between the training programmes. Parents' expectations were mainly directed towards improvement in prerequisites of motor function and mobility skills. The SRIGM confirmed the outcome on the CM.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To describe the content of needs, problems and goals of 41 Dutch children with cerebral palsy using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health for Children and Youth (ICF-CY) as a classification system. To evaluate the adherence of formulations of needs, problems and goals to specifications of the Rehabilitation Activities Profile for Children.METHODS: Raw text data were extracted and organized. Two raters independently weighed the entries' quality against the specifications and linked the extracted content to ICF-CY categories.RESULTS: In 12% of the reports no needs, and in 24% no principal goals, were formulated. Needs mostly pertained to the activities-and-participation domain (65%), whereas problems and goals covered all 3 ICF-CY domains. None of the needs were prioritized and 79% met the quality criterion of description of a problem/desire. Twenty-four percent of the problems were described in the activity-and-participation domain and 83% referred to a treatable problem. Fifty-six percent of the goals were formulated in terms of intended result/effect and 63% as child/parent actions.CONCLUSION: Insight is provided into the content of rehabilitation programmes for children with cerebral palsy. To optimize the quality of the reports, research on reasons for non-adherence to specifications of the Rehabilitation Activities Profile is needed.

Abstract:Background: The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) Core Sets for children and youth with cerebral palsy (CP) offer service providers and stakeholders a specific framework to explore functioning and disability for assessment, treatment, evaluation, and policy purposes in a global context. Objective: Describe global initiatives applying the ICF Core Sets for children and youth with CP, with a focus on contributions to clinical practice and challenges in their implementation. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. Ongoing initiatives applying the ICF Core Sets for CP in Russia, Poland, Malawi, and Brazil are included. Results: The main contributions of applying the ICF Core Sets for children and youth with CP include: (1) an objective description of abilities and limitations in everyday activities; (2) a consistent identification of facilitators and barriers influencing functioning; (3) a practical communication tool promoting client-centered care and multidisciplinary teamwork; and, (4) a useful guideline for measurement selection. The main challenges of adopting the ICF Core Sets are related to lack of ICF knowledge requiring intense training and translating results from standardized measures into the ICF qualifiers in a consistent way. Conclusions: Global initiatives include research and clinical applications at the program, service and system levels. The ICF Core Sets for CP are useful tools to guide service provision and build profiles of functioning and disability. Global interprofessional collaboration, capacity training, and informatics (e-records) will maximize their applications and accelerate adoption.

The Effect of Vitamin D Auxiliary Rehabilitation Therapy in Children with Cerebral Palsy and Language Dysfunction

Abstract:BACKGROUND: The aim of the present study was to observe the clinical efficacy of vitamin D auxiliary rehabilitation therapy in children with cerebral palsy and language dysfunction. METHODS: Eighty-two cases of children with cerebral palsy and language dysfunction in our hospital from March 2011 to June 2014 were selected for this study. They were divided into two groups: the rehabilitation treatment group (simple group, N.=39) and the vitamin D auxiliary rehabilitation therapy group (combination group, N.=43). After three months of treatment, language development, Gesell Child Development Scale, Bayley Infant Development Scale score and vitamin D and calcium levels were compared. RESULTS: The language development, Gesell Child Development Scale, Bayley Infant Development Scale score and vitamin D and calcium levels for two of the groups, after treatment, are improved compared to before treatment. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The total efficiency of the language development in the combination group was obviously higher than the simple group. The difference was significant (95.3% vs. 74.4%, chi(2)=2.486, P=0.032). The Gesell Child Development Scale improved in the combination group compared to the simple group. The difference was statistically significant (70.4 +/- 11.3 vs. 53.3 +/- 10.5, t=3.127, P=0.026). The proportion of normal children was significantly higher than the rehabilitation treatment group, and the difference was statistically significant (30.2% vs. 20.5%, chi(2)=3.016, P=0.029). In the combination group, the vitamin D and calcium levels were statistically increased compared to the rehabilitation treatment group. It had statistical differences between the two groups (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D auxiliary rehabilitation therapy could improve the language function and the language development status in children with cerebral palsy and language dysfunction.

Abstract:Abstract: Currently, cerebral palsy has emerged as a severe disease deserving significant attention. Amidst the thriving development of internet technology, the "Internet+" platform has brought new support to the medical field. This study aims to explore the application effects of "Internet+"-based rehabilitation nursing for children with cerebral palsy. A total of 60 children with cerebral palsy were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. The control group received conventional rehabilitation nursing, while the experimental group underwent "Internet+"-based rehabilitation nursing intervention. Comparisons were made between the two groups in terms of overall disease recovery, fine motor function, gross motor function, activities of daily living (ADL), nursing satisfaction, and quality of life. The results showed that the experimental group surpassed the control group in motor function, ADL, disease recovery efficiency, nursing satisfaction, and quality of life assessments, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The application of "Internet+"-based rehabilitation nursing for children with cerebral palsy can lead to more desirable overall nursing outcomes.

Abstract:PURPOSE: To determine the effect of an intense physical therapy intervention on gross motor function, community walking and participation in children with cerebral palsy (CP).METHODS: A single group design was used with two pre-test and two post-test measures. Subjects were 17 ambulatory children with CP who participated in an intense intervention (i.e., four hours per day, five days per week, three weeks), a modified version of the TheraSuit protocol. Gross motor function measure (GMFM-66), Step watch activity monitor (SAM), Canadian occupational performance measure (COPM) and pediatric outcomes data collection instrument (PODCI) were tested twice at baseline, immediately following the intervention, and three months later.RESULTS: Immediately following the intervention, GMFM-66, COPM and PODCI scores improved significantly (p < 0.001). At three months, improvements remained for GMFM-66 and COPM (p < 0.01). Walking amount or intensity (SAM) did not improve.CONCLUSIONS: Participants improved gross motor skills and participation but not community ambulation following this intense physical therapy intervention.

Abstract:Objectives: The aim of the present study was to examine the effects of a rehabilitation program combined with a home-based vibration-assisted therapy on gait parameters in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: In a retrospective study, 180 children, 101 boys and 79 girls, (mean age 7.2 ± 3.3 years) with CP at Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) Level I and Level II were examined using gait analyses with the Leonardo Mechanograph® Gangway at three measurement points. The measurements were conducted before (M0) and after a six-month rehabilitation period (M6), as well as 12 months after the commencement of rehabilitation (M12). The difference between measurement points M6-M0 (treatment interval) and M12-M6 (follow-up interval) were compared, and significance was determined using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Children with CP at GMFCS Level I and II demonstrated a significant improvement in gait efficiency (pathlength/distance M6-M0: -0.053 (SD 0.25) vs M12-M6: -0.008 (0.36), p=0.038). There were no significant difference in change of mean velocity and average step length between M6-M0 and M12-M6 (p=0.964 and p=0.611). Conclusions: The rehabilitation program seems to enhance gait efficiency in children with CP. German Clinical Trial Registry: DRKS0001131 at www.germanctr.de.
