Abstract:Objective To investigate factors that most influence urban road traffic injuries (RTI) mortality and morbidity. Methods The study used linked police and hospital records of RTI patients in the city of Hangzhou during the 3-year period 2004–2006. Three RTI outcome groups were included: (1) fatally injured; (2) severely injured; and (3) mildly injured persons. Results High risks for fatal road traffic accidents (RTA) were found on urban links, over weekend, during night hours, in male drivers who drove old vehicles without using seat belts, and at exceeding speeds, or with night time accidents and bad weather condition. In case of higher risk for all urban road users on urban junctions, the numbers on mildly injury cases were increasing. The highest combined risk for dying or being severely injured was found in male drivers driving at excessive speed, on urban links, and with night time accidents . Conclusions Intensifying safety education of motor vehicle drivers, enhancing traffic management and keeping balance of “person–vehicle–road” system will greatly reduce the urban traffic accidents and casualties.
Identifying emerging hot spots of road traffic injury severity using spatiotemporal methods: longitudinal analyses on major roads in Ghana from 2005 to 2020

Abstract:Background: Although road traffic injuries and deaths have decreased globally, there is substantial national and sub-national heterogeneity, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Ghana is one of few countries in Africa collecting comprehensive, spatially detailed data on motor vehicle collisions (MVCs). This data is a critical step towards improving roadway safety, as accurate and reliable information is essential for devising targeted countermeasures. Methods: Here, we analyze 16 years of police-report data using emerging hot spot analysis in ArcGIS to identify hot spots with trends of increasing injury severity (a weighted composite measure of MVCs, minor injuries, severe injuries, and deaths), and counts of injuries, severe injuries, and deaths along major roads in urban and rural areas of Ghana. Results: We find injury severity index sums and minor injury counts are significantly decreasing over time in Ghana while severe injury and death counts are not, indicating the latter should be the focus for road safety efforts. We identify new, consecutive, intensifying, and persistent hot spots on 2.65% of urban roads and 4.37% of rural roads. Hot spots are intensifying in terms of severity and frequency on major roads in rural areas. Conclusions: A few key road sections, particularly in rural areas, show elevated levels of road traffic injury severity, warranting targeted interventions. Our method for evaluating spatiotemporal trends in MVC, road traffic injuries, and deaths in a LMIC includes sufficient detail for replication and adaptation in other countries, which is useful for targeting countermeasures and tracking progress.

Abstract:Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the factors affecting motorcycle crash severity in Ghana.Methods: A retrospective analysis of motorcycle crash data between 2011 and 2015 was conducted using a motorcycle crash data set extracted from the National Road Traffic Crash Database at the Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI) in Ghana. Injury severity was classified into 4 categories: Fatal, hospitalized, injured, and damage only. A multinomial logit modeling framework was used to identify the possible determinants of motorcycle crash severity.Results: During the study period, a total of 8,516 motorcycle crashes were recorded, of which 22.9% were classified as fatal, 42.1% were classified as hospitalized injuries, 29.4% were classified as slight injuries, and 5.6% were classified as damage-only crashes. The estimation results indicate that the following factors increase the probability of fatal injuries: At a junction; weekend; signage; poor road shoulder; village settlement; tarred and good road surface; and collision between motorcycle and heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Motorcycle crashes occurring during the daytime and on the weekend increases the probability of hospitalized injury. The results also suggest that motorcycle crashes occurring during the daytime, in curves or inclined portions of roads, or in unclear weather conditions decrease the probability of fatal injury.Conclusions: This study provides further empirical evidence to support motorcycle crash modeling research, which is lacking in developing countries. The ability to understand the various factors that influence motorcycle crash severity is a step forward in providing an appropriate basis upon which informed motorcycle crash policies can be developed. Particular attention should be given to the provision of road signage at junctions and speed humps and controlling traffic during the weekend. In addition, road maintenance should be carried out periodically to address motorcycle safety in Ghana.

Abstract:The authors examined posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) item wording differences on the factor structure of PTSD. Nonclinical, trauma-exposed participants were randomly assigned to complete a PTSD measure using item wording content from the PTSD Checklist (n = 182) or PTSD Symptom Scale (n = 203). Compared to the 4-factor emotional numbing PTSD model, the 4-factor dysphoria PTSD model fit best across groups based on smaller Bayesian information criterion (BIC) values. For PTSD Checklist participants, the numbing model's BIC was 6238.54 compared to the dysphoria model's BIC of 6156.03. For the PTSD Symptom Scale, the numbing model's BIC was 6161.38 compared to the dysphoria model's BIC of 6102.87. Groups differed on variable intercepts and residual variances. Instrument and construct implications are discussed.

Abstract:In the ongoing Second Decade of Action for Road Safety, road traffic crashes pose a considerable threat especially in low-income countries. Uganda shows a vast burden of non-fatal injuries and resides at the top range of countries with the highest death rates due to unsafe roads. However, little is known about the differences in road traffic associated injuries between urban and rural areas and potential influence factors. Here, we used a cross-sectional study conducted by a retrospective medical record review from trauma cases admitted in 2016 to hospitals in rural and urban areas in Uganda. Injury severity scores were calculated and descriptive analysis was carried out while multivariate logistic regression was applied to assess significant covariates. According to the 1683 medical records reviewed, the mean age of trauma patients in the dataset under investigation was 30.8 years with 74% male. The trauma in-hospital mortality was 4% while prevalence of traumatic injuries is 56.4%. Motorcycle users (49.6%) and pedestrians (33.7%) were identified as the most vulnerable groups in both urban and rural setting while mild injuries of extremities (61.6%) and the head/neck-region (42.0%) were registered most. The frequency of road traffic injuries was homogenous in the urban and rural hospitals investigated in this study; interventions should therefore be intensified ubiquitously. The identification of significant differences in road traffic crash and injury characteristics provides the opportunity for specific programmes to decrease the socio-economic and health burden of unsafe roads. In addition to law enforcement and introduction of a Systems Thinking approach to road safety including infrastructural and educational concepts, the strengthening of trauma care and health resources is recommended.

Abstract:Objective: Road crashes are increasing every year in low- and middle-income countries compared to high-income countries, which show decreasing trends. One theory may be because of differences in enforcement of laws, vehicle safety, road standards, and many other factors. A detailed review was made of 5 death trends (total number of deaths/100,000 population and percentages of 4-wheeler, pedestrian, motorized 2/3-wheeler, bicyclist) and the underlying patterns in different countries and regions across the world. This review was done to understand the main reasons for the variances to focus on efficient improvement strategies related to future vehicle and road safety issues. Methods: A self-organizing map (SOM) technique is used to map the nonlinear relationships among different attributes. Overall, 176 countries with 44 attributes were considered from the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global Status Report on Road Traffic Crashes database. Of the 44 attributes, 5 related to accident deaths were considered as response attributes. Results: Very distinct and unique cause-effect patterns for 3 clusters were observed from SOM results. High-income countries were found to have a lower total number of deaths/100,000 population. One theory espouses that this was due to those countries maintaining high vehicle standards and policies, whereas it was quite a different situation for low-income countries. Even though helmet laws were available in Association of South East Asian Nations + 6 (ASEAN + 6) countries, the percentage of 2/3-wheeler deaths may be higher due a lack of enforcement of those laws. Percentage of deaths involving 4-wheeler vehicles was higher in certain countries in the Persian Gulf, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. This may be due to the fact that these countries have a number of rural areas where drivers drive at highway speeds versus some lower income countries with more urban areas where drivers operate vehicles at slower speeds. Countries with a lack of laws protecting bicyclists saw higher death percentages among bicyclists. The percentage of bicyclist deaths was also higher in areas with no helmet requirement and no investment in infrastructure improvements. The percentage of pedestrian deaths was high when there was no policy to separate road users, especially in low-income African countries. Deaths can be reduced by enforcement of laws and practicing good safety standards related to road traffic. Conclusions: Future vehicle and road safety strategies should consider using advanced statistical tools like SOM to advance safety. Based on a triple-layer (vehicle, infrastructure, and society) safety approach, strict regulations and enforcement are effective measures to reduce fatalities in low- and middle-income countries. On the other hand, introduction of more advanced vehicle technologies will be useful in countries with high gross national incomes (GNIs). Hence, a proper balance of different countermeasures based on economic zones could be effective to reduce total world traffic casualties.

Abstract:Background Road safety authorities in high-income countries use geospatial motor vehicle collision data for planning hazard reduction and intervention targeting. However, low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) rarely conduct such geospatial analyses due to a lack of data. Since 1991, Ghana has maintained a database of all collisions and is uniquely positioned to lead data-informed road injury prevention and control initiatives. Methods We identified and mapped geospatial patterns of hotspots of collisions, injuries, severe injuries and deaths using a well-known injury severity index with geographic information systems statistical methods (Getis-Ord Gi*). Results We identified specific areas (4.66% of major roads in urban areas and 6.16% of major roads in rural areas) to target injury control. Key roads, including National Road 1 (from the border of Cote D’Ivoire to the border of Togo) and National Road 6 (from Accra to Kumasi), have a significant concentration of high-risk roads. Conclusions A few key road sections are critical to target for injury prevention. We conduct a collaborative geospatial study to demonstrate the importance of addressing data and research gaps in LMICs and call for similar future research on targeting injury control and prevention efforts.

Abstract:Road traffic crashes are on the rise worldwide, particularly in African countries. Rwanda, in this context, faces the challenge of an increasing frequency of crashes each year. Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, witnesses over three-quarters of the total population as daily road users, leading to high traffic volumes and congestion during peak hours. Identifying dangerous locations and providing insights to transport policymakers is crucial to minimise the severity of crashes in the city. This study focuses on identifying crash hotspots through spatial analysis and explores the various factors contributing to crash severity in the capital city of Rwanda. The study utilises crash data recorded between 2015 and 2022 by the Rwanda National Police, conducting temporal, spatial, and statistical analyses. A multinomial regression model was employed to examine the significance of contributing factors to crash severity. Additionally, six supervised machine learning classifiers were employed to assess their predictive capabilities for accident severity in Kigali city. The findings indicate that the Gasabo district recorded the highest number of crashes among all districts. Time series analysis reveals a decrease in fatal accidents from 2020 to 2022 in Kigali city, while the number of injury and property damage crashes progressively increased from 2019 to 2022. Among the predictive models, the Random Forest model demonstrated strong predictive abilities, achieving an accuracy of 88.11% compared to other models. These results provide valuable insights for road safety policymakers to proactively make decisions and take precautions to prevent crashes before they occur.

Profile of low and middle-income countries with increases versus decreases in road crash fatality population rates and necessity of motorcycle safety

Abstract:Introduction: Road crash fatalities have increased significantly in Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMICs) between 2006 and 2016. This study presents how road safety characteristics have changed in LMICs by comparing data over time and relationships between the road crash fatality increase and a wide range of data from LMICs. Parametric and nonparametric methods are used to test significance. Method: There were 35 countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region, the Sub-Saharan Africa region, the East Asia and Pacific region, and the South Asia region, where the population rate of road crash fatalities consistently increased as per country reports, World Health Organization and Global Burden of Disease estimates. In these countries, the proportion of fatalities involving motorcycles (including powered two or three-wheelers) substantially increased (44%) over the same time (statistically significant). In these countries, the helmet-wearing rate was only 46% for all passengers. These patterns were not observed in LMICs with decreasing population fatality rates. Results: Motorcycle helmet usage rates strongly correlate with decreasing fatalities per 10,000 motorcycles in Low-Income Countries (LICs) and LMICs. Effective interventions (including increasing helmet usage) are urgently needed for motorcycle crash trauma in LMICs, especially where the economy and motorization rapidly grow. National strategies for motorcycle safety, conforming to the Safe System principles, are recommended. Conclusions: For evidence-based policy formulation, there is a need to continue strengthening data collection, sharing, and use.
Identifying Factors Contributing to the Motorcycle Crash Severity in Pakistan

Abstract:Motorcycle is a popular mode of transportation in many developing countries, including Pakistan. Since the last decade, the registered number of motorcycles in Pakistan has increased by six times, constituting 74% of the total registered vehicles. However, limited research efforts have been made to investigate motorcycle-related safety issues in Pakistan. Thus, the relationship between potential risk factors and injury outcomes of motorcycle crashes is still unclear in the country. This study, therefore, established a random parameter logit model to examine the factors associated with the motorcycle injury severity. The analysis is based on two years (2014–2015) of data collected through the road traffic injuries surveillance system from Karachi city, Pakistan. The results indicate that the summer season, weekends, nighttime, elderly riders, heavy vehicle, and single-vehicle collisions are positively associated with fatalities, while the presence of pillion passengers and motorcycle-to-motorcycle crashes are negatively associated with fatalities. More importantly, in the specific context of Pakistan, morning hours, young riders, and female pillion passengers whose clothes stuck in the wheel significantly increase the fatal injury outcomes. Based on the findings, potential countermeasures to improve motorcycle safety are discussed, such as strict enforcement to control motorcyclists' risky behavior and speeding, provision of exclusive motorcycles lanes, and education of female pillion passengers. The findings from this study would increase awareness of motorcycle safety and can be used by the policymakers to enhance road safety in Pakistan, as well as in other developing countries with similar situations.

Abstract:Despite recent measures on accident prevention, road collisions, mainly on London's "A" roads, persist as accident sources, endangering vulnerable users in particular. Analysing evidence from London's A-Roads unveils issues concerns and trends. This study utilises extensive data to target factors magnifying accidents: speed, traffic, vulnerable interactions. Stats 19 and transport data including volumes, types, speeds, and congestion parameters are all analysed alongside the collision data. The descriptive statistics have been employed to understand nature of data in the first instance. This has supported the process to cleanse the data outliers or periods where were subjected to incidents and interventions. Predictive model development is conducted to analyse and forecast accident frequency using ARIMA and SARIMAX models forecasted accident rates and interventions. ARIMA yielded higher accuracy. Method of analysis resulted in a statistically reliable formulation of the main factors, enabling use of this method for similar cities across the world. Formulated analysis revealed key contributors as population density, weather, and time of the day. The analysis of data supported identification of strategies emerging as infrastructure improvements, traffic control measures and severity and vulnerable users affected in particular. The analysis reveals distinct exhibits of causation, leading to focused recommendations on infrastructure enhancements, traffic control measures, and the impact on severity and vulnerable users, deviating from prior research findings. Insights aid safer London roads, have global predictive and mitigation value.

Abstract:Abstract Traffic accidents are a common problem in any transportation network. Road traffic accidents are predicted to be the seventh leading cause of deaths by the year 2030. Recently research in the integration of geographical information systems (GIS) for analyzing accidents, road design and safety management has increased considerably. The perpetual use of GIS tools, lead this study to propose the identification of accident hotspots by exploiting GIS technology coupled with kernel density estimation (KDE). This paper proposes the use of KDE technique and GIS technology to automatically identify the accident hotspots using UK as the study area. Analysis shows that most of the accidents occur when there is a 30 mph speed limit, a weekend, in the evening time, during the months of October and November, on the single carriageway, where there is ‘T’ or staggered junction and on ‘A’ road class. Moreover, this study also proposed techniques to classify the accident severity that is classified as either fatal, serious or slight. The driver behavior and environmental features achieved an accuracy up to 85% on the severity classification with Bagging technique. Further, the shortcomings, limitations and recommendations for future work are also identified.

Abstract:Every year, millions die in road accidents globally, imposing significant economic and humanitarian costs. While road traffic accidents are a major health concern, many developing countries, including Ethiopia, struggle to address this issue effectively. Ethiopia ranks second in East Africa for severe road traffic accidents, highlighting the need for improved injury reduction strategies. This study introduces a novel approach by chronologically identifying and prioritizing accident black spots in the studied area, Ethiopia. This method provides a valuable tool for transportation authorities and traffic police to target high-risk areas for immediate intervention. Focusing on the Dembecha-Injibara highway segment, the study employs both descriptive and inferential analyses, using the Zegeer method to calculate accident rates. It also uses factors of weight contributing to road traffic accidents and their severity to rank accident-prone areas. The findings reveal that areas near Finote Selam, Banja, and Burie are highly prone to severe accidents, with specific accident frequencies and priority values identified. Recommendations are offered to address these high-risk areas and mitigate severe traffic accidents in the study region.

Abstract:Previous research has demonstrated that crashes involving motorcycles and fixed objects often result in severe injuries. However, there is a scarcity of stand-alone studies examining the contributing factors related to this specific type of crash. This study sought to address this gap by analyzing a comprehensive dataset comprising 1,198 crash observations involving motorcycles and fixed objects over a 5-year period (2016–2020) in Massachusetts. By understanding the contributing factors more comprehensively, this study aims to facilitate targeted interventions to mitigate the severity of crashes involving motorcycles and fixed objects, ultimately fostering a safer road environment. Through data conflation, various factors pertaining to driver demographics, driver actions, road features, traffic characteristics, weather conditions, and lighting conditions were considered for this analysis. A novel approach called cluster correspondence analysis (CCA) was employed to uncover underlying patterns associated with these crashes. The insights derived using this unique method will significantly contribute to the limited literature on this topic, providing valuable information for road users and stakeholders to implement policies that enhance overall road safety.

Abstract:Identifying accident prone areas and the contributing environmental factors can save lives and enhance infrastructure durability. This research presents an innovative use of two hierarchical clustering methods (Agglomerative Hierarchical and BIRCH clustering algorithms) to detect accident hotspots with high accident rates on the Yazd-Kerman road, in Iran. These approaches identified clusters of accidents, highlighting significant clusters and categorizing their overlap as two accident prone areas. The high percentage of overlapping results from both methods indicates a high level of consistency in the findings. Through observations, field visits, police report analysis, and interviews with locals, the primary causes of accidents in accident prone areas were identified. In one of the accident prone areas, the most significant reasons for accidents included the presence of a resting area, insufficient lighting at curves, and poor road signage, which created a dilemma zone for drivers. In another accident prone area, the main contributing factor was reduced visibility during dust storms. Then, K-Nearest Neighbors and Random Forests machine learning algorithms were employed to predict the severity of accidents, using various input attributes such as lighting, climate, alignment slope, and road geometry. The K-Nearest Neighbor surpassed the Random Forest technique, achieving an overall accuracy of 71% in contrast to 60%. This study effectively evaluated the outcomes of clustering, uncovering the underlying causes of accidents to inform future practical interventions. Moreover, by predicting the severity of accidents along the road, a framework was developed to propose strategies for risk reduction.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Road traffic crashes (RTCs) are a leading cause of death. In low and middle income countries (LMIC) data to conduct hotspot analyses and safety audits are usually incomplete, poor quality, and not computerized. Police data are often limited, but there are no alternative gold standards. This project evaluates high road utilizer surveys as an alternative to police data to identify RTC hotspots. METHODS:Retrospective police RTC data was compared to prospective data from high road utilizer surveys regarding dangerous road locations. Spatial analysis using geographic information systems was used to map dangerous locations and identify RTC hotspots. We assessed agreement (Cohen's Kappa), sensitivity/specificity, and cost differences. RESULTS:In Rwanda police data identified 1866 RTC locations from 2589 records while surveys identified 1264 locations from 602 surveys. In Sri Lanka, police data identified 721 RTC locations from 752 records while survey data found 3000 locations from 300 surveys. There was high agreement (97 %, 83 %) and kappa (0.60, 0.60) for Rwanda and Sri Lanka respectively. Sensitivity and specificity are 92 % and 95 % for Rwanda and 74 % and 93 % for Sri Lanka. The cost per crash location identified was $2.88 for police and $2.75 for survey data in Rwanda and $2.75 for police and $1.21 for survey data in Sri Lanka. CONCLUSION:Surveys to locate RTC hotspots have high sensitivity and specificity compared to police data. Therefore, surveys can be a viable, inexpensive, and rapid alternative to the use of police data in LMIC.
Exploring the severity of bicycle-vehicle crashes using latent class clustering approach in India

Abstract:Introduction: Bicyclists are vulnerable users in the shared asset like roadways. However, people still prefer to use bicycles for environmental, societal, and health benefits. In India, the bicycle plays a role in supporting the mobility to more people at lower cost and are often associated with the urban poor. Bicyclists represents one of the road user categories with highest risk of injuries and fatalities. According to the report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Accidents, 2017) in India, there is a sharp increase in the number of fatal victims for bicyclists in 2017 over 2016. The number of cyclists killed jumped from 2,585 in 2016 to 3,559 in 2017, a 37.7% increase. Method: Few studies have only investigated the crash risk perceived by the bicyclists while interacting with other road users. The present paper investigates the injury severity of bicyclists in bicycle-vehicle crashes that occurred in the state of Tamilnadu, India during the nine year period (2009-2017). The analyses demonstrate that dividing bicycle-vehicle collision data into five clusters helps in reducing the systematic heterogeneity present in the data and identify the hidden relationship between the injury severity levels of bicyclists and cyclists demographics, vehicle, environmental, temporal cause for the crashes. Results: Latent Class Clustering (LCC) approach was used in the present study as a preliminary tool for the segmentation of 9,978 crashes. Later, logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors that influence bicycle crash severity for the whole dataset as well as for the clusters that were obtained from the LCC model. Results of this study show that combined use of both techniques reveals further information that wouldn't be obtained without prior segmentation of the data. Few variables such as season, weather conditions, and light conditions were significant for certain clusters that were hidden in the whole dataset. This study can help domain experts or traffic safety researchers to segment traffic crashes and develop targeted countermeasures to mitigate injury severity.
Crash severity analysis and risk factors identification based on an alternate data source: a case study of developing country

Abstract:Abstract Road traffic injuries are one of the primary reasons for death, especially in developing countries like Bangladesh. Safety in land transport is one of the major concerns for road safety authorities and other policymakers. For this reason, contributory factors identification associated with crashes is necessary for reducing road crashes and ensuring transportation safety. This paper presents an analytical approach to identifying significant contributing factors of Bangladesh road crashes by evaluating the road crash data, considering three different severity levels (non-fetal, severe, and extremely severe). Generally, official crash databases are compiled from police-reported crash records. Though the official datasets are focusing on compiling a wide array of attributes, an assorted number of unreported issues can be observed that demands an alternative source of crash data. Therefore, this proposed approach considers compiling crash data from newspapers in Bangladesh which could be complimentary to the official crash database. To conduct the analysis, first, we filtered the useful features from compiled crash data using three popular feature selection techniques: chi-square, Two-way ANOVA, and Regression analysis. Then, we employed three machine learning classifiers: Decision Tree, Random Forest, and Naïve Bayes over the extracted features. A confusion matrix was considered to evaluate the proposed model, including classification accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. The predictive machine learning model, namely, Random Forest using Label Encoder with chi-square and Two-way ANOVA feature selection process, seems the best option for crash severity prediction that provides high prediction accuracy. The resulting model highlights nine out of fourteen independent features as responsible factors. Significant features associated with crash severities include driver characteristics (gender, license type, seat belts), vehicle characteristics (vehicle type), road characteristics (road surface type, road classification), environmental conditions (day of crash occurred, time of crash), and injury localization. This outcome may contribute to improving traffic safety of Bangladesh.

Abstract:Introduction: Road traffic injuries are a significant public health issue in low-income and middle-income countries. This study was designed to explore the pattern and factors associated with road traffic injury in a high-risk zone of Bangladesh. Method: This mixed-method study included a total of 363 road traffic injury victims for the quantitative component, and 10 traffic-related officials and 10 drivers for the qualitative element. Data were collected using a pretested questionnaire, key informant interviews and a focus group discussion using a focus group discussion guide. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were done using Stata V.17 and NVivo V.12, respectively. Results: Most participants were male, illiterate and young (<30 years) with age averaging 31.50±9.16 years. Of all road traffic injury victims, most had mild (45.18%) injuries, and the least had severe (5.79%) injuries, with head being the most common site (34.44%). The highest proportion of injuries were sustained by motor vehicle drivers (57.58%), followed by cyclists/rickshaw pullers (22.59%) and passengers (19.83%). Most vehicles were new (75.21%), and the rest were old (24.79%). Nearly one-third of the participants did not know about driving rules. The presence of knowledge was associated with less severe injury (p=0.031) compared with the absence of knowledge. The qualitative component of the study identified several factors related to road traffic injury, including driver factors (lack of sleep, bad driving habits and lack of helmets), driving activity factors (ignoring rules, overtaking, crossing speed limits and using bright headlights), road-related factors (broken roads, unplanned curves and angles, the need for spacious streets and the lack of appraisal of previous crash records) and traffic control factors (stringent traffic rules, effective implementation and training on using speed guns). Conclusion: The factors related to road traffic injury identified in this study could be used to plan targeted interventions for road safety improvement.
