Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem for the nonlinear equation involving p-Laplacian operator: -△pu = λf(u) on a bounded smooth domain Ω in Rn. The authors extend part of the Crandall-Rabinowitz bifurcation theory to this problem. Typical examples are checked in detail and multiplicity of the solutions are illustrated. Then the stability for the associated parabolic equation is considered and a Fujita-type result is presented.

Abstract:We discuss a class of p-Laplacian-type fractional four-point boundary-value problems with a parameter. We use the Green's function, the Schauder fixed-point theorem and the Guo-Krasnoselskii fixed-point theorem on cones. Abstract:Let Ω be a C^1 open bounded domain in ℝ^N, N≥ 3, with 0∈Ω̅. We consider the following problem involving Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents: (P) {[ Δ u+λu^p/|x|^s_1+u^2^*(s_2)-1/|x|^s_2=0 in Ω ,; u(x)>0 in Ω ; u(x)=0 on ∂Ω , ]. where 0≤ s_1<2, 0≤ s_2< 2, 2^*(s_2):=2(N-s_2)/N-2, 0λ∈ℝ, 1≤ p≤ 2^*(s_1)-1 , and with choices of exponents and parameters corresponding to cases in which (P) has not been before investigated. We prove the existence of positive solutions, which, in some cases, are also shown to be ground states. We remark that we give a first partial answer to a question proposed by Li and Lin (Arch Ration Mech Anal 203(3):943–968, 2012 ).

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to address some questions concerning boundary value problems related to the Laplacian and bi-Laplacian operators, set in the framework of classical $H^s$ Sobolev spaces on a bounded Lipschitz domain of R^N. These questions are not new and a lot of work has been done in this direction by many authors using various techniques since the 80's. If for regular domains almost every thing is elucidated, it is not the case for Lipschitz ones and for $s$ of the form $s = k + 1/2$, with $k$ integer. It is well known that this framework is delicate. Even in these cases many results are well established but sometimes not satisfactory. Several questions remain posed. Our main goal through this work is on one hand to give some improvements to the theory and on another one by using techniques which do not require too intricate calculations. We also tried to obtain maximal regularity for the solutions and as far as we can optimality of the results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of solutions of the following nonhomogeneous fractional $p(x,.)$-Laplacian Dirichlet problem: \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{aligned} \Big(-\Delta_{p(x,.)}\Big)^s u (x)&=f(x, u) &\text { in }& \Omega, u &=g &\text { in }& \mathbb{R}^N \setminus\Omega, \end{aligned}\right. \end{equation*} where $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ is a smooth bounded domain, $\Big(-\Delta_{p(x,.)}\Big)^s$ is the fractional $p(x,.)$-Laplacian, $f$ is a Carathéodory function with suitable growth condition and $g$ is a given boundary data. The proof of our main existence results relies on the study of the fractional $p(x, \cdot)$-Poisson equation with a nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition and the theory of fractional Sobolev spaces with variable exponents, together with Schauder's fixed point theorem.

Abstract:Let Ω be a bounded domain in Rn, n⩾3, with the boundary ∂Ω∈C3. We consider the following singularly perturbed nonlinear elliptic problem on Ωε2Δu−u+f(u)=0,u>0on Ω,∂u∂ν=0on ∂Ω, where ν is an exterior normal to ∂Ω and a nonlinearity f of subcritical growth. Under rather strong conditions on f, it has been known that for small ε>0, there exists a solution uε of the above problem which exhibits a spike layer near local maximum points of the mean curvature H on ∂Ω as ε→0. In this paper, we obtain the same result under some conditions on f (Berestycki–Lions conditions), which we believe to be almost optimal.

Abstract:For nonlinear operators of fractional $p$-Laplace type, we consider two types of solutions to the nonlocal Dirichlet problem: Sobolev solutions based on fractional Sobolev spaces and Perron solutions based on superharmonic functions. These solutions give rise to two different concepts of regularity for boundary points, namely Sobolev and Perron regularity. We show that these two notions are equivalent and we also provide several characterizations of regular boundary points. Along the way, we give a new definition of Perron solutions, which is applicable to arbitrary exterior Dirichlet data $g: \Omega^c \to [-\infty,\infty]$. We obtain resolutivity and invariance results for these Perron solutions, and show that the Sobolev and Perron solutions coincide for a large class of exterior Dirichlet data. A uniqueness result for the Dirichlet problem is also obtained for the class of bounded solutions taking prescribed continuous exterior data quasieverywhere on the boundary.

Abstract:In this paper we will use the degree theory to give an existence result to the boundary value problem of nonlinear perturbations of the scalar p-Laplacian with the multi-point boundary condition involving the Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral. Among the boundary conditions considered in this paper, we will find also the optimal bounds on the growth of the nonlinear perturbations in our existence result.

By using the fixed point theo-rem, some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions are obtained. Examples are given to il-lustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:This paper is mainly concerned with the following nonlinear p-Laplacian equation $$-\Delta_{p}(x)+(\lambda a(x)+1)\vert u\vert^{p-2}(x)u(x)=f(x,u(x)),\ \ \ \rm{in}\ V$$ on a locally finite graph G = (V, E) with more general nonlinear term, where Δp is the discrete p-Laplacian on graphs, p ≥ 2. Under some suitable conditions on f and a(x), we can prove that the equation admits a positive solution by the Mountain Pass theorem and a ground state solution uλ via the method of Nehari manifold, for any λ > 1. Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of infinitely many small solutions for problem (fφp) involving φp-Laplacian by exploiting critical point theory. Moreover, the present study first attempts to address discrete Dirichlet problems with φp-Laplacian in relation to some relative existing references. As far as we know, this research of the partial discrete bvp involves φp-Laplacian for the first time. Our results are illustrated with three examples.

Abstract:This paper studies a nonlinear Dirichlet problem for the $p$-Laplacian operator with nonlinearity consisting of power components. The problem under consideration can be though of as a perturbation of the Ambrosetti-Brezis-Cerami problem with concave-convex nonlinearity. The combined effect of power components in the perturbed nonlinearity allows to establish a higher order multiplicity of positive solutions. We study properties of the perturbed energy functional and prove the existence of three positive solutions to the problem at hand.

Abstract:In this paper we study the nonlinear elliptic problem driven by p(x)-Laplacian with a nonsmooth locally Lipschitz potential (hemivariational inequality), that is (P){−div(‖∇u(x)‖RNp(x)−2∇u(x))∈∂j(x,u(x)),a.a. x∈Ω,u=0,on ∂Ω, where Ω⊂RN is a bounded domain and p:Ω¯→R is a continuous function satisfying some given assumptions. The approach used in this paper is the variational method for locally Lipschitz functions. More precisely, Weierstrass Theorem and Mountain Pass Theorem are used to prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions. Finally, we obtain the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions of constant sign.

Abstract:In this paper, we study solutions of one phase inhomogeneous singular perturbation problems of the type: F(D^2u,x)=β _ε(u) + f_ε(x) and Δ _pu=β _ε(u) + f_ε(x) , where β _ε approaches Dirac δ _0 as ε→ 0 and f_ε has a uniform control in L^q, q>N. Uniform local Lipschitz regularity is obtained for these solutions. The existence theory for variational (minimizers) and non variational (least supersolutions) solutions for these problems is developed. Uniform linear growth rate with respect to the distance from the ε - level surfaces are established for these variational and nonvaritional solutions. Finally, letting ε→ 0 basic properties such as local Lipschitz regularity and non-degeneracy property are proven for the limit and a Hausdorff measure estimate for its free boundary is obtained.

Abstract:We prove the solvability of the Dirichlet problem for the variable exponent $p$-Laplacian with boundary data in $W^{1,p(x)}(\Omega)$ on a bounded, smooth domain $\Omega \subset {\mathbb R}^n$. Our main focus will be on an a.e. finite variable exponent $p(\cdot)$ with $n < \inf\limits_{x\in \Omega}p(x)$ and $\sup\limits_{x\in \Omega}p(x) = \infty$ under the sole assumption that $p\in C(\Omega)$.
