Abstract:Recent studies have focused on the use of multi-nutrient dietary interventions in search of alternatives for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study we investigated to which extent long-term consumption of two specific multi-nutrient diets can modulate AD-related etiopathogenic mechanisms and behavior in 11-12-month-old AβPPswe-PS1dE9 mice. Starting from 2 months of age, male AβPP-PS1 mice and wild-type littermates were fed either a control diet, the DHA+EPA+UMP (DEU) diet enriched with uridine monophosphate (UMP) and the omega-3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), or the Fortasyn® Connect (FC) diet enriched with the DEU diet plus phospholipids, choline, folic acid, vitamins and antioxidants. We performed behavioral testing, proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, immunohistochemistry, biochemical analyses and quantitative real-time PCR to gain a better understanding of the potential mechanisms by which these multi-nutrient diets exert protective properties against AD. Our results show that both diets were equally effective in changing brain fatty acid and cholesterol profiles. However, the diets differentially affected AD-related pathologies and behavioral measures, suggesting that the effectiveness of specific nutrients may depend on the dietary context in which they are provided. The FC diet was more effective than the DEU diet in counteracting neurodegenerative aspects of AD and enhancing processes involved in neuronal maintenance and repair. Both diets elevated interleukin-1β mRNA levels in AβPP-PS1 and wild-type mice. The FC diet additionally restored neurogenesis in AβPP-PS1 mice, decreased hippocampal levels of unbound choline-containing compounds in wild-type and AβPP-PS1 animals, suggesting diminished membrane turnover, and decreased anxiety-related behavior in the open field behavior. In conclusion, the current data indicate that specific multi-nutrient diets can influence AD-related etiopathogenic processes. Intervention with the FC diet might be of interest for several other neurodegenerative and neurological disorders.

Abstract:Alzheimer's disease (AD), is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that involves the deposition of β-amyloid plaques and the clinical symptoms of confusion, memory loss, and cognitive dysfunction. Despite enormous progress in the field, no curative treatment is available. Therefore, the current study was designed to determine the neuroprotective effects of N-methyl-(2S, 4R)-Trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline (NMP) obtained from Sideroxylon obtusifolium, a Brazilian folk medicine with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. Here, for the first time, we explored the neuroprotective role of NMP in the Aβ1-42-injected mouse model of AD. After acclimatization, a single intracerebroventricular injection of Aβ1-42 (5 µL/5 min/mouse) in C57BL/6N mice induced significant amyloidogenesis, reactive gliosis, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and synaptic and memory deficits. However, an intraperitoneal injection of NMP at a dose of (50 mg/kg/day) for three consecutive weeks remarkably decreased beta secretase1 (BACE-1) and Aβ, activated the astrocyte and microglia expression level as well as downstream inflammatory mediators such as pNF-ĸB, TNF-α, and IL-1β. NPM also strongly attenuated oxidative stress, as evaluated by the expression level of NRF2/HO-1, and synaptic failure, by improving the level of both the presynaptic (SNAP-25 and SYN) and postsynaptic (PSD-95 and SNAP-23) regions of the synapses in the cortexes and hippocampi of the Aβ1-42-injected mice, contributing to cognitive improvement in AD and improving the behavioral deficits displayed in the Morris water maze and Y-maze. Overall, our data suggest that NMP provides potent multifactorial effects, including the inhibition of amyloid plaques, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and cognitive deficits.
The Effect of Oil Palm Phenolics (OPP) on Urinary Metabolomic Profile in Atherogenic Diet Induced Rat Model of Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Abstract:Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, estimated to strike more than 4.7 million individuals older than 65 in the USA. Since oxidative stress is a key component driving AD, we hypothesized that OPP, a water soluble fraction extracted from oil palm fruit rich in phenolics with high antioxidant activity, may attenuate its progression. In this study, we used the metabolomic approach to investigate the effect of OPP on change in metabolism produced in high cholesterol diet induced model for AD. Thirty two male Brown Norway rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: the isocaloric control diet (C), high cholesterol (2% cholesterol) (H), high cholesterol + OPP (5% OPP) (HP) and high cholesterol + curcumin (2% curcumin) (HC). Urine samples were collected once a month for 6 months. Water maze was performed monthly to evaluate cognitive behavior. β‐amyloid was measured at termination of study as a marker for AD using ELISA. Curcumin, a dietary polyphenolic compound has been shown to have benefit in AD and was used as a positive control. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectra, acquired using 500 MHz magnet were processed using ACD labs software. The processed, digitized NMR spectral data was subjected to multivariate data analysis (SIMCA P+). Principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares‐discriminant analysis (PLS‐DA) score plots showed clear separation among all four groups indicating differences in their metabolomics profiles. OPLS regression analysis gave significant correlations between the urinary metabolomic profiles and escape latency using water maze (R 2 =0.78) and the β amyloid burden (R 2 =0.73). The metabolites responsible for the differences in the metabolomic profile between different groups were quantified using CHENOMX NMR metabolite database. Some metabolites from the tryptophan‐kynurenine‐quinolinic pathway were significantly higher in the cholesterol fed animals (H) as compared to the control (C). Treatment with curcumin (HC) or OPP (HP) brought down the concentration of these metabolites significantly and closer to the control levels. This pathway has been shown to be perturbed in neurodegenerative diseases. Taken together, our data indicates that dietary OPP or curcumin have potential benefit in AD. In addition, specific urinary metabolites may serve as non‐invasive biomarkers for progression of neurodegenerative diseases including AD.

Abstract:The intricate nature of Alzheimer's disease (AD) has presented significant hurdles in the development of effective interventions. Sulforaphane (SFN) is of interest due to its antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties, which could address various aspects of AD pathology. This study explores the potential of SFN in a rat model of AD induced by Aβ (1-42) peptides. AD symptoms were triggered in rats by injecting Aβ (1-42) peptides directly into their cerebral ventricles. SFN (10 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg), Trigonelline (10 mg/kg), and Pioglitazone (10 mg/kg) were administered in Aβ (1-42) treated animals. Behavioral assessments were performed using the Novel Object Recognition tests. Various biochemical parameters, such as soluble Aβ (1-42), IRS-S312, GSK-3β, TNF-α, acetylcholinesterase, nitrite levels, lipid peroxidation, and reduced glutathione activity, were quantified using ELISA kits and spectrophotometric assays. Histopathological analyses included Hematoxylin and Eosin, Congo red, and IRS-1 Immunohistochemistry staining. Quantification was performed to assess neuronal loss and Aβ plaque burden. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive evaluation of SFN's impact on multiple AD-related pathways at dual doses. The Novel Object Recognition test revealed that SFN, especially at higher doses, improved memory deficits induced by Aβ (1-42). Biochemically, SFN reduced hippocampal Aβ levels, IRS-S312, GSK-3β, TNF-α, and acetylcholinesterase activity, while increasing glutathione levels, all in a dose-dependent manner. Histopathological analyses further confirmed SFN's protective role against Aβ-induced neuronal damage, amyloidosis, and changes in insulin signaling. These results highlight SFN's potential as a multifaceted therapeutic agent for AD, offering a promising avenue for treatment due to its antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. The inclusion of combination treatments with Trigonelline and Pioglitazone alongside SFN offers insights into potential synergistic effects, which could pave the way for developing combination therapies for AD.

Abstract:Recent evidence suggests that ferroptosis, an iron‐dependent cell death process, may be involved in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology. The study evaluated the therapeutic potential of betaine and boric acid (BA) pretreatment administered to rats for 21 days in AD. Then, the rats were sacrificed, and morphological and biochemical analyses were performed in brain tissues. Next, an ex vivo AD model was created by applying amyloid‐β (Aβ1‐42) to synaptosomes isolated from the brain tissues. Synaptosomes were analyzed with micrograph images, and protein and mRNA levels of ferroptotic markers were determined. Betaine and BA pretreatments did not cause any morphological and biochemical differences in the brain tissue. However, Aβ (1–42) administration in synaptosomes increased the levels of acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain family member‐4 (ACSL4), transferrin receptor‐1 protein (TfR1), malondialdehyde (MDA), and 8‐hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8‐OHdG) and decreased the levels glutathione peroxidase‐4 (GPx4) and glutathione (GSH). Moreover, ACSL4, GPx4, and TfR1 mRNA and protein levels were similar to the ELISA results. In contrast, betaine and BA pretreatments decreased the levels of ACSL4, TfR1, MDA, and 8‐OHdG in synaptosomes incubated with Aβ1‐42, while promoting increased levels of GPx4 and GSH. In addition, betaine and BA pretreatments completely reversed ACSL4, GPx4, and TfR1 mRNA and protein levels. Therefore, betaine and BA pretreatments may contribute to the prevention of neurodegenerative damage by supporting antiferroptotic activities.

Abstract:Introduction: Cerebroprotein hydrolysate has been proven to improve cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). We explored the safety and effectiveness of the clinical administration of oral cerebroprotein hydrolysate in AD, and possible mechanisms related to the neuronal ferroptosis pathway. Methods: Three-month-old male APP/PS1 double-transgenic mice were randomly divided into AD model (n = 8) and intervention (n = 8) groups. Eight non-transgenic wild-type (WT) C57 mice were used as age-matched controls. The experiments were started at the age of 6 months. The intervention group was then administered cerebroprotein hydrolysate nutrient solution (11.9 mg/kg/day) via chronic gavage, the other groups received an identical volume of distilled water. Behavioural experiments were performed after 90 days of continuous administration. Serum and hippocampal tissues were then collected for histomorphological observation, tau and p-tau expression, and ferroptosis markers analysis. Results: Cerebroprotein hydrolysate simplified movement trajectories and shortened escape latencies of APP/PS1 mice in the Morris water maze test. Neuronal morphologies were restored in hippocampal tissues on haematoxylin-eosin staining. In the AD-model group, Aβ protein and p-tau/tau expression levels were elevated, plasma Fe 2+ and malondialdehyde levels were elevated, GXP4 protein expression and plasma glutathione levels declined than controls. All indices improved after cerebroprotein hydrolysate intervention. Conclusion: Cerebroprotein hydrolysate improves learning and memory function, alleviates neuronal damage, and reduces the deposition of pathological AD markers in AD mice, which may be related to the inhibition of neuronal ferroptosis.

Abstract:Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. The emerging data suggest that cognitive decline occurred in the setting of A β accumulation with synaptic dysfunction, which started to happen at preclinical stages. Then, presymptomatic intervention is more critical to postponing AD processing. Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history of treating and preventing dementia. Findings have shown that the decoction of Panax notoginseng and Gardenia jasminoides Ellis enhances memory functions in patients with stroke, and their main components, Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) and geniposide (GP), improved memory abilities in experimental AD models. Since herbal medicine has advantages in protection with few side effects, we wish to extend observations of the NeuroProtect (NP) formulation for reducing amyloid- β and restoring synaptic structures in APP/PS1 transgenic mice. Methods: APP/PS1 transgenic mice and their wild-type littermates were fed with control, NP, and their components from 4 to 7 months of age. We assessed the synaptic structure by Golgi staining, analyzed the amyloid deposits by Thioflavin-S staining, and measured related protein levels by Western blot or ELISA. We used the Morris water maze and shuttle box test to evaluate cognitive functions. Results: Compared to WT mice, APP/PS1 mice are characterized by the accumulation of amyloid plaques, reducing synaptic structure richness and memory deficits. NP prevents these changes and ameliorates cognitive deficits. These effects may have been due to the contribution of its components by inhibition of insoluble amyloid- β deposition and restoration of synaptic structures. Conclusion: These findings reveal a beneficial effect of NP on AD progression under an early intervention strategy and provide a food supplement for AD prevention.

Abstract:α-Mangostin (α-M) is a natural xanthone from the pericarp of fruit Garcinia mangostana and possesses versatile biological activities. α-M has a therapeutic potential to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) because of its anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and neuroprotective activities. However, the use of α-M for AD treatment is limited due to its cytotoxic activities and relatively low potency. Modifications of its chemical structure were needed to reduce its cytotoxicity and improve its therapeutic potential against AD. For this purpose, 16 α-M carbamate derivatives were synthesized. An animal model of AD was established, and the effects of AMG-1 on the spatial learning ability and memory ability were evaluated using behavioral tests. The effect on neuropathology was tested by histopathological evaluation, Nissl staining, and silver staining. Computational systems pharmacology analysis using the chemogenomics knowledgebase was applied for network studies. Compound-target, target-pathway, and target-disease networks were constructed, integrating both in silico analysis and reported experimental data. The results show that AMG-1 can demonstrate its therapeutic effects in a one-molecule, multiple-targets manner to remarkably ameliorate neurological changes and reverse behavioral deficits in AD model rats. The improved cognitive function and alleviated neuronal injury can be observed. The ability of AMG-1 to scavenge β-amyloid in the hippocampus was validated in AD model rats.

APP/PS1 mice were supplemented with NMN synbiotics and compared against control groups. The effects on amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition, intestinal histopathology, tight junction proteins, inflammatory cytokines, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were assessed. NMN synbiotics intervention significantly reduced Aβ deposition in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus by 67% and 60%, respectively. It also ameliorated histopathological changes in the colon, reducing crypt depth and restoring goblet cell numbers. The expression of tight junction proteins Claudin-1 and ZO-1 was significantly upregulated, enhancing intestinal barrier integrity. Furthermore, NMN synbiotics decreased the expression of proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and reduced ROS levels, indicative of attenuated oxidative stress. The reduction in Aβ deposition, enhancement of intestinal barrier function, decrease in neuroinflammation, and alleviation of oxidative stress suggest that NMN synbiotics present a promising therapeutic intervention for AD by modulating multiple pathological pathways. Further research is required to elucidate the precise mechanisms, particularly the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway, which may offer a novel target for AD treatment.

Blueberry Supplementation Effects on Neuronal and Pathological Biomarkers in Subjects at Risk for Alzheimer's Disease: A Pilot Study

Abstract:Background: There is a need to develop non-invasive practical lifestyle interventions for preventing Alzheimer's disease (AD) in people at risk, such as those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Blueberry consumption has been associated with reduced risk of dementia in some epidemiologic studies and with improvements in cognition in healthy aging adults. Blood-based biomarkers have emerged at the forefront of AD therapeutics research spurred by the development of reliable ultra-sensitive "single-molecule array" assays with 100-1000-fold greater sensitivity over traditional platforms. Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of blueberry supplementation in MCI on six blood biomarkers: amyloid-beta 40 (Aβ40), amyloid-beta 42 (Aβ42), phosphorylated Tau181 (ptau181), neurofilament light (NfL), Glial Fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). Methods: This was a 12-week, open-label, pilot trial of 10 participants with MCI (mean age 80.2 years + 5.16). Subjects consumed 36 grams per day of lyophilized blueberry powder in a split dose consumed with breakfast and dinner. Baseline and endpoint venous blood was analyzed using an ultrasensitive SIMOA assay. Our aim was to test if blueberry supplementation would particularly impact p-tau181, NfL, and GFAP elevations associated with the neurodegenerative process. Results: There were no statistically significant (p < 0.05) changes from baseline to endpoint for any of the biomarker values or in the ratios of Aβ42 / Aβ40 and ptau181/ Aβ42. Adverse effects were mild and transient; supplementation was relatively well tolerated with all subjects completing the study. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first study to prospectively examine the effects of blueberry supplementation on a panel of blood biomarkers reflecting the neurodegenerative process. Our findings raise two possibilities - a potential stabilization of the neurodegenerative process or a lack of a direct and acute effect on beta-amyloid/tau/glial markers. A larger controlled study is warranted.

Abstract:Fruits, as a major source of nutrition have been investigated for their emerging evidence of several neuroprotective activities beneficial to Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This paper discusses recent evidence suggesting several fruit-derived bioactive substances that possess anti-AD activity. The original articles from 2011–2022 were collected from Pubmed and Scopus with related keywords and filtered. Several fruit constituents have shown significant inhibitory action against β-amyloid and tau hyperphosphorylation, either directly or indirectly via secretase inhibition. Some were also found to be cholinesterase inhibitors with specific antioxidative roles, disruptors of the neuroinflammation system, and promoters of neurogenesis and the neurogenic process. Many fruit phytochemicals remarkably alter the capability defects shown in AD animal models, such as catechin, nobiletin, and alpha-mangostin. Therefore, further investigations exploring a certain bioactive isolate or formulated dosage form and its mechanism of action are necessary to provide effective prevention and supplementary treatment for AD.

Abstract:Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disease. Nervonic acid is a component of breast milk and is also found in fish oil and specific vegetable oils. Studies have shown that nervonic acid is essential for the development of the human nervous system. In this study, Morris water maze (MWM) test and pathological analysis showed that nervonic acid could improve cognitive deficits and brain nerve damage in AD rats. Then, through sequencing, we found that nervonic acid increased the abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bacteroides , and decreased the abundance of Pseudomonadaceae_Pseudomonas . Not only that, nervonic acid also regulates the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and the levels of 29 fecal metabolites, and affects the metabolism of linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, and sphingolipid. Finally, we verified the regulatory effect of nervonic acid on metabolic enzyme activity.

Evaluation of therapeutic effects of tetramethylpyrazine nitrone in Alzheimer's disease mouse model and proteomics analysis

Abstract:The pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is multifactorial with characteristic extracellular accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aβ) and intraneuronal aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau in the brain. Development of disease-modifying treatment for AD has been challenging. Recent studies suggest that deleterious alterations in neurovascular cells happens in parallel with Aβ accumulation, inducing tau pathology and necroptosis. Therefore, therapies targeting cellular Aβ and tau pathologies may provide a more effective strategy of disease intervention. Tetramethylpyrazine nitrone (TBN) is a nitrone derivative of tetramethylpyrazine, an active ingredient from Ligusticum wallichii Franchat (Chuanxiong). We previously showed that TBN is a potent scavenger of free radicals with multi-targeted neuroprotective effects in rat and monkey models of ischemic stroke. The present study aimed to investigate the anti-AD properties of TBN. We employed AD-related cellular model (N2a/APPswe) and transgenic mouse model (3×Tg-AD mouse) for mechanistic and behavioral studies. Our results showed that TBN markedly improved cognitive functions and reduced Aβ and hyperphosphorylated tau levels in mouse model. Further investigation of the underlying mechanisms revealed that TBN promoted non-amyloidogenic processing pathway of amyloid precursor protein (APP) in N2a/APPswe in vitro. Moreover, TBN preserved synapses from dendritic spine loss and upregulated synaptic protein expressions in 3×Tg-AD mice. Proteomic analysis of 3×Tg-AD mouse hippocampal and cortical tissues showed that TBN induced neuroprotective effects through modulating mitophagy, MAPK and mTOR pathways. In particular, TBN significantly upregulated PINK1, a key protein for mitochondrial homeostasis, implicating PINK1 as a potential therapeutic target for AD. In summary, TBN improved cognitive functions in AD-related mouse model, inhibited Aβ production and tau hyperphosphorylation, and rescued synaptic loss and neuronal damage. Multiple mechanisms underlie the anti-AD effects of TBN including the modulation of APP processing, mTOR signaling and PINK1-related mitophagy.
Protective Effects of Myricetin and Morin on Neurological Damage in Aβ 1-42 /Al 3+ -induced Alzheimer's Disease Model of Rats

Abstract:Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a degenerative neurological disorder with unclear pathogenesis. Single-target drugs have very limited efficacy in treating AD, but synthetic multi-target drugs have poor efficacy and safety. Therefore, finding suitable natural multi-target drugs against AD is of great interest for research studies. We chose two flavonols, myricetin and morin, for the relevant study. In this study, we used microinjection of Aβ 1-42 oligomers into the CA1 region of rat hippocampus, combined with gavage of Aluminum chloride hexahydrate (AlCl 3 ·6H 2 O) solution to establish AD rat models, and myricetin and morin were selected as intervening drugs to explore the protective effects against neurological impairment. Experimental results showed that myricetin or morin could reduce the production of Aβ, Tubulin-associated unit (Tau), and Phosphorylated tubulin-associated unit (p-Tau), down-regulate the expression of relevant inflammatory factors, reduce hippocampal cell apoptosis in rats. There was a significant increase in the activity of adenosine triphosphatase, catalase, total superoxide dismutase, and the content of glutathione in the brain tissue. However, the content of malondialdehyde, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and the activity of acetylcholinesterase were decreased in the brain tissue. These two flavonols can regulate the imbalance of monoamine and amino acid neurotransmitter levels. In conclusion, Myricetin or morin can effectively improve learning and memory dysfunction in AD rats induced by Aβ 1-42 /Al 3+ through anti-oxidative stress and anti-apoptotic features.

Naringenin Ameliorates Amyloid-Β Pathology and Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s Disease

Abstract:Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia characterized by amyloid-beta (A beta) deposition, tau hyperphosphorylation, and neuroinflammation. Naringenin (NRG), a natural flavonoid widely present in citrus fruits, has been reported can penetrate the blood-brain barrier and exert anti-inflammatory effects in the central nervous system. Here, we investigate the protective effects of long-term NRG treatment on AD. The novel object recognition test and Morris water maze test reveal that NRG treatment can improve the learning and memory ability of APP/PS1 mice. Besides, we find that NRG can significantly reduce A beta deposition, microglial and astrocytic activation, and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in APP/PS1 mice. Results further show that NRG effectively decreases pro-inflammatory cytokines in LPS/A beta-stimulated BV2 cells. Lastly, the molecular mechanistic study reveals that NRG attenuates neuroinflammatory responses via inhibition of the MAPK signaling pathway in vivo and in vitro. Overall, NRG may emerge as a promising compound for the prevention and treatment of AD. Abstract:Sorghum is a promising treatment for Alzheimer's disease (AD), due to its rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. Fermentation may also affect nutritional values. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to discover the phenolic and flavonoid chemicals found in both fermented and non-fermented red sorghum, as well as their potential therapeutic uses for AD. L. fermentum , and L. reuteri , and/or L. plantarum and L. casei were used to ferment samples of sorghum. The rats were grouped into five groups, healthy animals, and rats with Alzheimer's receiving 200 mg/kg of saline, non-fermented sorghum, and fermented sorghum fermented with L. fermentum and L. reuteri , as well as L. plantarum and L. casei . Various assessments were conducted, including evaluations of behavioral responses, antioxidant responses, inflammatory responses, acetylcholine levels and acetylcholine esterase, and bacterial populations in stool. P-hydroxybenzoic acid, eriodictyo naringenin, and apigenin were significantly higher in fermented samples, while glycerols were higher in non-fermented samples. The induction of Alzheimer's led to decrease step-through latency, time in target zone, FRAP, acetylcholine levels, Bifidobacterium population and lactobacillus population, while increased escape latency, platform location latency, MDA levels, IL-6, TNF-α, acetylcholine esterase, and coliform population ( P = 0.001). The administration of both non-fermented sorghum and fermented sorghum demonstrated the potential to reverse the effects of AD, with a notably higher efficacy observed in the fermented samples compared to the non-fermented ones. In conclusion, fermentation exerted significant effects on the bioactive compounds the administration of fermented sorghum resulted in improved behavioral responses, characterized by a reduction in oxidation, inflammation and microbial population.
