Abstract:Consecutive replanting significantly affects the yield and quality of Atractylodes macrocephala due to replant disease. To explore the changes in the rhizosphere soil when atractylodes get replant disease, we detect soil physicochemical properties and the microbial community. The results show higher level of pH and phosphatase activity in the rhizo-soil of diseased plants than that of healthy ones. Moreover, 42 species of bacteria in the phylum of Acidobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Nitrospirae, Elusimicrobia, and Chlorobi show higher diversity, while 8 species in the phylum of Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Fibrobacteres demonstrate lower diversity in that of diseased ones. In particular, decreased numbers of some beneficial bacteria including Sphingobium and Hyphomicrobium while increased numbers of pathogens such as Asticcacaulis, Rhizomicrobium in diseased ones may lead to replant disease. For fungi, there are 10 species with lower diversity in diseased ones, which belong to Ascomycota and Glomeromycota. In conclusion, microecological imbalance in Atractylodes rhizosphere caused by variation of the soil microbial community is considered the primary cause of replant disease. Some bacteria such as Sphingobium and some fungi including Alternaria alternate are closely related to the replant disease.
NB-LRRs Not Responding Consecutively to Fusarium oxysporum Proliferation Caused Replant Disease Formation of Rehmannia glutinosa

Abstract:Consecutive monoculture practice facilitates enrichment of rhizosphere pathogenic microorganisms and eventually leads to the emergence of replant disease. However, little is known about the interaction relationship among pathogens enriched in rhizosphere soils, Nucleotide binding-leucine-rich repeats (NB-LRR) receptors that specifically recognize pathogens in effector-triggered immunity (ETI) and physiological indicators under replant disease stress in Rehmannia glutinosa. In this study, a controlled experiment was performed using different kinds of soils from sites never planted R. glutinosa (NP), replanted R. glutinosa (TP) and mixed by different ration of TP soils (1/3TP and 2/3TP), respectively. As a result, different levels of TP significantly promoted the proliferation of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. R. glutinosa (FO). Simultaneously, a comparison between FO numbers and NB-LRR expressions indicated that NB-LRRs were not consecutively responsive to the FO proliferation at transcriptional levels. Further analysis found that NB-LRRs responded to FO invasion with a typical phenomenon of "promotion in low concentration and suppression in high concentration", and 6 NB-LRRs were identified as candidates for responding R. glutinosa replant disease. Furthermore, four critical hormones of salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA), ethylene (ET) and abscisic acid (ABA) had higher levels in 1/3TP, 2/3TP and TP than those in NP. Additionally, increasing extents of SA contents have significantly negative trends with FO changes, which implied that SA might be inhibited by FO in replanted R. glutinosa. Concomitantly, the physiological indexes reacted alters of cellular process regulated by NB-LRR were affected by complex replant disease stresses and exhibited strong fluctuations, leading to the death of R. glutinosa. These findings provide important insights and clues into further revealing the mechanism of R. glutinosa replant disease.

Abstract:Production of medicinal tubers of Rehmannia glutinosa is severely hindered by replanting issues. However, a mechanistic understanding of the plant-soil factors associated with replant problems is currently limited. Thus, we aimed to identify the R. glutinosa root exudates, evaluate their potential phytotoxicity and profile the interactions between the plant and its associated rhizobiome. Stereomicroscopy and liquid chromatography coupled to a quadrupole/time of flight mass spectrometer were used to monitor and identify secreted metabolites, respectively. Seedling bioassays were used to evaluate the phytotoxicity of R. glutinosa root exudates. Two complimentary experiments were performed to investigate allelochemical fate in rhizosphere soil and profile the associated microbiota. Root specific microbes were further isolated from R. glutinosa rhizosphere. Impacts of isolated strains were evaluated by co-cultivation on plate and on seedlings in tissue culture, with a focus on their pathogenicity. Interactions between key R. glutinosa root exudates and isolated rhizobiomes were investigated to understand the potential for plant-soil feedbacks. Quantification and phytotoxic analysis of metabolites released from R. glutinosa indicated catalpol was the most abundant and bioactive metabolite in root exudates. Subsequent microbial profiling in soil containing accumulated and ecologically significant levels of catalpol identified several taxa (e.g., Agromyces, Lysobacter, Pseudomonas, Fusarium) that were specifically shifted. Isolation of R. glutinosa rhizobiomes obtained several root specific strains. A significant antagonistic effect between strain Rh7 (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and two pathogenic strains Rf1 (Fusarium oxysporum) and Rf2 (Fusarium solani) was observed. Notably, the growth of strain Rh7 and catalpol concentration showed a hormesis-like effect. Field investigation further indicated catalpol was increasingly accumulated in the rhizosphere of replanted R. glutinosa, suggesting that interactions of biocontrol agents and pathogens are likely regulated by the presence of bioactive root exudates and in turn impact the rhizo-ecological process. In summary, this research successfully monitored the release of R. glutinosa root exudates, identified several abundant bioactive R. glutinosa secreted metabolites, profiled associated root specific microbes, and investigated the plant-soil feedbacks potentially regulated by catalpol and associated rhizobiomes. Our findings provide new perspectives toward an enhanced understanding R. glutinosa replant problems.

Abstract:Background/Objectives: Rehmannia glutinosa, a highly valuable medicinal plant in China, is encountering severe replant disease. Replant disease represents a complex stress driven by multiple principal factors (RDFs), including allelochemicals, microbes, and their interactions. miRNAs are recognized as key regulators of plant response to stresses; however, their specific roles within RDFs are not entirely clear. Methods: This study builds six RDF treatments, comprising R. glutinosa continuously planted (SP), normally planted (NP), and NP treated with ferulic acid (FA), Fusarium oxysporum (FO), and a combination of FA with FO (FAFO). sRNA-seq technology was used to identify crucial miRNAs in response to diverse RDFs. Results: In total, 30 sRNA datasets were generated from the SP, NP, FA, FO, and FAFO samples. A total of 160 known and 41 novel miRNAs (RgmiRNAs) were identified in the R. glutinosa genome based on the sRNA database. Abundance analysis revealed that RgmiRNAs in SP exhibited a distinct expression profile in comparison with others. Of these, 124, 86, 86, and 90 RgmiRNAs were differentially expressed in SP, FA, FO, and FAFO compared with NP. Target analysis indicated that RgmiRNAs downregulated in both SP and RDFs impede the organism growth of R. glutinosa. RgmiRNAs upregulated in SP can disrupt root formation and nutrient metabolism, in which, two RgmiR398 were uniquely expressed in SP. It was confirmed to target RgCSD genes. The expression patterns of RgmiR398 and RgCSD indicated that replant disease induces the oxidative damage of R. glutinosa through RgmiR398. Conclusions:RgmiRNA profiling under RDFs provides a theoretical basis for the further clarification of RgmiRNA function in replant disease.
Insight into structure dynamics of soil microbiota mediated by the richness of replanted Pseudostellaria heterophylla

Abstract:Consecutive monoculture of crops causes serious diseases and significant decline in yield and quality and microbes in the rhizosphere are closely linked with plant health. Here we systematically studied the structure dynamics of soil microbiota in the monocropping system of Pseudostellaria heterophlla. The results illustrated that the successive cropping of P. heterophylla shifts the diversity and structure of microbial community in rhizosphere soil of P. heterophylla, showing that the diversity of microbial community in rhizosphere soil of P. heterophylla was decreased with the increase of planting years while the structure of microbial community became more deteriorative. Moreover, the population size of typical pathogens increased and the beneficial bacterial population decreased with the increasing years of monoculture, which resulted in the microecological imbalance in P. heterophylla rhizosphere, thereby caused serious replanting diseases in monocropping system. Our results suggested that structure dynamics of rhizosphere microbial communities were mediated by the richness of replanted P. heterophylla, and thus the replant disease result from the imbalanced microbial structure with a higher ratio of pathogens/beneficial bacteria in rhizosphere soil under monocropping regimes. This finding provides a clue to open a new avenue for modulating the root microbiome to enhance the crop production and sustainability.

Enterobacter Amnigenus W5: A Potential Causal Agent for Rehmannia Glutinosa Replant Problem

Abstract:Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch is an important medicinal plant. However, its production is threatened by soil sickness in continuous cropping. In this study, we isolated a soil bacterium Enterobacter amnigenus W5 from an R. glutinosa replant field. It was identified based on physiological and biochemical characterization and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. The culture broth and filtrate of strain W5 showed strong phytotoxic effects on R. glutinosa leaves and roots. One phytotoxic compound, cyclo (Pro-Tyr) was extracted from the culture broth of strain W5. The compound proved toxic to Oxalis corniculata, Malachium aquaticum and R. glutinosa, at 0.05 mu g/mL, 5.00 mu g/mL and 0.50 mu g/mL concentrations, respectively. Moreover, the composition of the tuberous roots of R. glutinosa promoted the growth of strain W5 in a dose-dependent manner in in-vitro test. These results suggested that E. amnigenus W5 with a narrow phytotoxic spectrum, secreted phytotoxic chemical cyclo (Pro-Tyr), which probably is the cause problem in long-term continuous cultivation of R.glutinosa. The methods targeting this bacterium or theliliytotoxic compound could be used to control the long term replant problem of R. glutinosa.
Rehmannia glutinosa RgMATE35 Participates in the Root Secretion of Phenolic Acids and Modulates the Development of Plant Replant Disease

Abstract:Phenolic allelochemicals from root exudates dominate rhizosphere formation, lead to autotoxicity in plants subjected to continuous monoculture (CM) stress and induce the emergence of replant disease. However, the regulatory mechanisms governing the transport of phenolics from plant roots to the rhizosphere remain poorly understood. A potential phenolic efflux transporter from Rehmannia glutinosa, designated RgMATE35, has been preliminarily characterized. The objective of this study was to elucidate the molecular function of RgMATE35 in the secretion of phenolics and to investigate its role in the development of plant replant disease using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), genetic transformation, HPLC-Q-TOF-MS and other analytical techniques. A tissue expression pattern analysis of RgMATE35 revealed that it is highly expressed in plant roots. Transient expression analysis confirmed the localization of the protein in plasma membranes. An assessment of the transport activity of RgMATE35 in Xenopus oocytes indicated that it plays a role in facilitating the efflux of labeled ferulic acid ([2H3]-FA) and trans-p-coumaric acid [2H6]-pCA. The results of functional studies in R. glutinosa demonstrated that RgMATE35 positively mediates the secretion of FA and pCA from plant roots into the rhizosphere. A molecular and physiological analysis of RgMATE35 transgenic plants subjected to CM stress revealed that the overexpression or repression of RgMATE35 resulted in notable changes in the degree of autotoxic injury in plants. These findings demonstrate that RgMATE35 plays a positive role in the development of replant disease through the secretion of phenolic acids from plant roots. They also provide a fundamental framework for elucidating the molecular regulatory mechanism through which MATEs regulate replant disease through the root secretion of allelochemicals.

Abstract:Abstract Replant disease refers to the result of monoculture-continuous repetitive planting of congeneric crops or coordinal crops in the same soil for many years. Such disease is recognized as one of the main limiting factors affecting plant growth and production of horticultural plants in many countries. As a result, replant disease in horticultural plants has become a world problem in agriculture and also a bottleneck restricting the sustainable development of agriculture. In general, replant disease results in unfavorable growth of horticultural plants, which is due to allelopathy, autotoxicity, and the imbalance of both soil physical-biochemical traits and soil microflora. An environmentally friendly contribution to this could be bio-controlled by beneficial microorganisms. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, one of soil-inhabiting fungi, can form a symbiotic association in roots to mitigate the negative effects of replant disease in many horticultural plants. Moreover, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi do not produce any environmental pollution in soils and are a potential biological control. The soil fungi could regulate better morphological, physiological and molecular levels in plants to respond to the disease. This review mainly outlined the current knowledge in mycorrhizal mitigation of replant disease in horticultural plants, which appears to be a promising strategy to improve growth of horticultural plants in replant soils.

Abstract:The quorum sensing (QS) system plays a significant role in the bacteria-bacteria or plant-bacteria relationships through signal molecules. However, little is known about the distribution and functional diversity of QS bacteria in the root environment of Suaeda glauca and Phragmites australis in coastal wetlands. We explored the bacterial community by amplicon sequencing and isolated 1050 strains from the rhizosphere soil and root tissues of S. glauca and P. australis in northern China to investigate the bacterial community and AHL producers. AHL activity was found in 76 isolates, and 22 distinct strains were confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. A substantial number of AHL producers clustered in rhizobiales and sphingomonadale, which derived from the root tissues. AHL producers in the rhizosphere soil mostly belonged to rhodobacterales. The different taxa of AHL producers in the rhizosphere soil and root tissues resulted in a variation of AHL profiles that C6-HSL dominated the AHL profiles in root bacteria compared to the C8-HSL in rhizobacteria, implying different ecological roles for AHL producers in the rhizosphere soil and root tissues. Many AHL producers may form biofilms, and some can degrade DMSP and oil, demonstrating that QS bacteria in the root environment have a wide ecological roles. In our study, for one of the first times here, we explore the distribution and functional variety of AHL producers in the root environment of S. glauca–P. australis. This study expands current knowledge of the relationship between QS bacteria and coastal plants (S. glauca and P. australis), and vital roles of QS bacterial in maintaining the health of coastal wetlands.

Abstract:The SnS thin films were successfully prepared by pyrolysis procedure for the counter electrodes in quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) using the methanol solution containing stannous chloride dihydrate (0.40 mol x L(-1)) and thiourea (0.40 mol x L(-1)) as precursor solution at 300 degrees C in the air atmosphere. The electrochemical catalytic activity of the SnS thin films prepared by pyrolytic synthesis for the redox couple of S(2-)/S(2-) was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The result revealed that the charge transfer resistance of the as-prepared SnS thin film with the dipping-heating cycles of 5 was 106.4 Ω and the corresponded QDSCs gave a short circuit photocurrent density of 8.69 mA x cm(-2), open circuit voltage of 0.42 V, and fill factor of 0.43, yielding the photoelectric conversion efficiency of 1.57%, under the illumination of simulated AM 1.5 sunlight (100 mWx cm(-2)).
Bio-fertilizer Amendment Alleviates the Replanting Disease under Consecutive Monoculture Regimes by Reshaping Leaf and Root Microbiome

Abstract:Replanting disease is a growing problem in intensive agricultural systems. Application of bio-fertilizer containing beneficial microbes contributes to disease suppression and is a promising strategy to control replanting disease. However, the effect of both replanting disease and bio-fertilizer amendment on the assembly of crop microbiota in leaves and roots and their relationships to crop yield and quality remains elusive. In these experiments, roots and leaves of Radix pseudostellariae were collected from different consecutive monoculture and bio-fertilizer amended fields, and the associated microbiota were characterized by bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequencing and quantitative PCR. Consecutive monoculture altered the bacterial community structure and composition and significantly increased the abundance of potential pathogenic Ralstonia and Fusarium oxysporum in leaves and roots. Furthermore, bio-fertilizer application alleviated replanting disease by decreasing the pathogen load, increasing the potential beneficial genera Pseudomonas, Streptomyces, Paenibacillus, and Bradyrhizobium. The proportion of positive correlations in the co-occurrence network of bio-fertilizer application was the highest, implying that bio-fertilizer potentially enhanced ecological commensalism or mutualism of the bacterial community across the two compartments. Structural equation models indicated that bio-fertilizer had a positive and indirect effect on both yield and quality by shaping the leaf microbiota and the root microbiota. Our findings highlight the role of leaf and root microbiota on replanting disease, showing that bio-fertilizer contributes to alleviating replanting disease by improving microbe–microbe interactions.

Abstract:ABSTRACT The stability of microbial communities, especially among core taxa, is essential for supporting plant health. However, the impacts of disease infection on the stability of rhizosphere fungal core microbiome remain largely unexplored. In this study, we delved into the effects of root rot infestation on the community structure, function, network complexity, and stability of Sanqi fungal core microbiomes, employing amplicon sequencing combined with co-occurrence network and cohesion analyses. Our investigation revealed that root rot disease led to a decrease in the α-diversity but an increase in the β-diversity of the Sanqi fungal core microbiomes in the rhizosphere. Notably, Ilyonectria , Plectosphaerella, and Fusarium emerged as indicator species in the rhizosphere core microbiome of root rot-infected Sanqi plants, while Mortierella predominated as the dominant biomarker taxa in healthy soils. Additionally, root rot diminished the complexity and modularity of the rhizosphere networks by reducing the metrics associated with nodes, edges, degrees, and modularity. Furthermore, root rot resulted in a reduction in the proportion of negative connections in the network and the negative/positive cohesion of the entire core fungal microbiome. Particularly noteworthy was the observation that root rot infection destabilized the rhizosphere core fungal microbiome by weakening the negative connectivity associated with beneficial agents. Collectively, these results highlight the significance of the negative connectivity of beneficial agents in ensuring the stability of core microbial community. IMPORTANCE Root rot disease has been reported as the most devastating disease in the production process of artificial cultivated Sanqi ginseng, which seriously threatens the Sanqi industry. This study provides valuable insights into how root rot influences microbial relationships within the community. These findings open up opportunities for disease prevention and the promotion of plant health by regulating microbial interactions. In summary, the research sheds light on the ecological consequences of root rot on rhizosphere fungal microbiomes and offers potential strategies for managing soil-borne diseases and enhancing plant health.

Abstract:This study aimed to study the relationship between allelopathic bacteria and Rehmannia glutinosa growth,and clarify the causes of R.glutinosa continuous cropping cbstacle by using soil microbial plate isolation technique and 16S rRNA gene analysis method.From 1 year R.glutinosa replanted soil,19 strains of bacteria were extracted,two of which were identified to be Pseudomonas putida DH03 and Enterobacter amnigenus DH05.Strain DH03 and strain DH05 didn ' t infect R.glutinosa leaves.However,their metabolites had toxic effects on both leaves and tubes of R.glutinosa,and were typical allelopathic bacteria.Meanwhile,constitutes of R.glutinosa had a positive effect on the growth of strain DH03 and strain DH05.Based on the interactive effects between allelopathic bacteria and R.glutinosa,the hypothesis was proposed on the allelopathic bacterial effect which had caused the R.glutinosa continuous cropping cbstacle.Allelopathy of allelopathic bacteria was one of the main factors that had caused R.glutinosa continuous cropping obstacle.

This study aimed to elucidate SYQ's responses to anthracnose in reclaimed land environments by comprehensively analyzing root-zone bacterial community structure, metabolites, and soil properties. Methods: The experiment was conducted on reclaimed land in Chun'an, China. In order to evaluate the responses of SYQ to anthracnose, the fresh and dry weight of SYQ tubes, the soil properties, the high-throughput sequencing, and metabolomics assay were carried out. Results: Significant differences were observed between an anthracnose-resistant variety (A201714) and an anthracnose-susceptibile variety (B201301). Fresh and dry weight increased 131.53 % and 144.82 % for A201714 compared to B201301.Lacibacterium (39.85 %), Gp6 (21.83 %), Gp5 (21.49 %), and Sphingomonas (18.84 %) were more prevalent, whereas Gp3 (22.71 %), WPS-1 (18.88 %), Gp4 (15.60 %), Subdivision3 (14.70 %), Chryseolinea (14.37 %), and Nitrospira (0.76 %) were less prevalent in A201714 than B201301. A total of 24 bacterial biomarkers were detected in all soil samples, while the network suggests a more stable soil bacterial community in A201714 than in B201301. Eight differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs) that belonged to lipids and lipid-like molecules, organic acids and derivatives, benzenoids, nucleosides, nucleotides, and analogues were found between two soil samples, and all these eight DEMs were downregulated in A201714 and had a strong correlation with 12 genera of bacteria. Moreover, the data from the redundancy analysis indicated that the main variables affecting changes in the bacterial communities were pH, available phosphorus (AP), available potassium (AK), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), and microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN). Conclusion: This research offers new insights into the SYQ response to anthracnose in reclaimed land and provides valuable recommendations for the high-quality SYQ cultivation and production.

Abstract:Understanding the response of soil microbial communities to pathogenic Ralstonia solanacearum is crucial for preventing bacterial wilt outbreaks. In this study, we investigated the soil physicochemical and microbial community to assess their impact on the pathogenic R.solanacearum through metagenomics. Our results revealed that certain archaeal taxa were the main contributors influencing the health of plants. Additionally, the presence of the pathogen showed a strong negative correlation with soil phosphorus levels, while soil phosphorus was significantly correlated with bacterial and archaeal communities. We found that the network of microbial interactions in healthy plant rhizosphere soils was more complex compared to diseased soils. The diseased soil network had more linkages, particularly related to the pathogen occurrence. Within the network, the family Comamonadaceae, specifically Ramlibacter_tataouinensis , was enriched in healthy samples and showed a significantly negative correlation with the pathogen. In terms of archaea, Halorubrum , Halorussus_halophilus (family: Halobacteriaceae), and Natronomonas_pharaonis (family: Haloarculaceae) were enriched in healthy plant rhizosphere soils and showed negative correlations with R.solanacearum . These findings suggested that the presence of these archaea may potentially reduce the occurrence of bacterial wilt disease. On the other hand, Halostagnicola_larseniia and Haloterrigena _sp._BND6 (family: Natrialbaceae) had higher relative abundance in diseased plants and exhibited significantly positive correlations with R.solanacearum , indicating their potential contribution to the pathogen's occurrence. Moreover, we explored the possibility of functional gene sharing among the correlating bacterial pairs within the Molecular Ecological Network. Our analysis revealed 468 entries of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) events, emphasizing the significance of HGT in shaping the adaptive traits of plant-associated bacteria, particularly in relation to host colonization and pathogenicity. Overall, this work revealed key factors, patterns and response mechanisms underlying the rhizosphere soil microbial populations. The findings offer valuable guidance for effectively controlling soil-borne bacterial diseases and developing sustainable agriculture practices.

Abstract:Replanting disease is a major factor limiting the artificial cultivation of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Salvia miltiorrhiza. At present, little information is available regarding the role of miRNAs in response to replanting disease. In this study, two small RNA libraries obtained from first-year (FPR) and second-year plant (SPR) roots were subjected to a high-throughput sequencing method. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that 110 known and 7 novel miRNAs were annotated in the roots of S. miltiorrhiza. Moreover, 39 known and 2 novel miRNAs were identified and validated for differential expression in FPR compared with SPR. Thirty-one of these miRNAs were further analyzed by qRT-PCR, which revealed that 5 miRNAs negatively regulated the expression levels of 7 target genes involved in root development or stress responses. This study not only provides novel insights into the miRNA content of S. miltiorrhiza in response to replanting disease but also demonstrates that 5 miRNAs may be involved in these responses. Interactions among the differentially expressed miRNAs with their targets may form an important component of the molecular basis of replanting disease in S. miltiorrhiza.
Response of bacterial community metabolites to bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum: a multi-omics analysis

Abstract:The soil microbial community plays a critical role in promoting robust plant growth and serves as an effective defence mechanism against root pathogens. Current research has focused on unravelling the compositions and functions of diverse microbial taxa in plant rhizospheres invaded by Ralstonia solanacearum , however, the specific mechanisms by which key microbial groups with distinct functions exert their effects remain unclear. In this study, we employed a combination of amplicon sequencing and metabolomics analysis to investigate the principal metabolic mechanisms of key microbial taxa in plant rhizosphere soil. Compared to the healthy tobacco rhizosphere samples, the bacterial diversity and co-occurrence network of the diseased tobacco rhizosphere soil were significantly reduced. Notably, certain genera, including Gaiella , Rhodoplanes , and MND1 ( Nitrosomonadaceae ), were found to be significantly more abundant in the rhizosphere of healthy plants than in that of diseased plants. Eight environmental factors, including exchangeable magnesium, available phosphorus, and pH, were found to be crucial factors influencing the composition of the microbial community. Ralstonia displayed negative correlations with pH, exchangeable magnesium, and cation exchange flux, but showed a positive correlation with available iron. Furthermore, metabolomic analysis revealed that the metabolic pathways related to the synthesis of various antibacterial compounds were significantly enriched in the healthy group. The correlation analysis results indicate that the bacterial genera Polycyclovorans , Lysobacter , Pseudomonas , and Nitrosospira may participate in the synthesis of antibacterial compounds. Collectively, our findings contribute to a more in-depth understanding of disease resistance mechanisms within healthy microbial communities and provide a theoretical foundation for the development of targeted strategies using beneficial microorganisms to suppress disease occurrence.
