Abstract:The complex [Cu3L2Cl4](H2O)6 (HL = N′-[(1Z)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-ylmethylene]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carbohydrazide) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis and X-ray crystal structure analysis. Crystal data: triclinic, P , a = 7.8591(12), b = 9.6745(14), c = 9.8798(15) Å, α = 83.301(3), β = 71.602(3), γ = 80.531(3)°, V = 701.40(18) Å3, Z = 1, D c = 2.014 Mg m−3, μ = 2.706 mm−1, F(000) = 425, R 1 = 0.0447, wR 2 = 0.1133 (I ≥ 2σ(I )), S = 1.001. The crystal structure contains [Cu3L2Cl4] trimers combining coordination and hydrogen bonding interactions. The geometries of the Cu(II) ions differ. The terminal Cu(II) ions have distorted square pyramidal geometry and are surrounded by two chloride anions and one deprotonated ligand. The central Cu(II) is square planar, bonded to one imino nitrogen atom and one carbonyl oxygen atom of each ligand.

Abstract:Four new Zn(II) and Cu(II) coordinated polymers ([ZnL2N3]ClO4 (1), [Cu2L2(CH3CN)]Cl4 (2) [CuL](NO3)2 (3), [Cu(H2O)L](SO4) (4) L=2-((4-phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-2-yl)methyl) pyridine (ptmp)) have been reported. All the compounds have been characterized by IR spectrum, elemental analyses and X-ray crystallography diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses show that one-dimensional polymers are formed in these four complexes. Chain-like structures are formed in complex 1, 2 and 3, which are connected by azide, chloride and nitrate anions, respectively. In complex 4, one-dimensional left-handed polymer is formed by a μ2-SO4 bridge. The fluorescent and electrochemical properties of these four complexes were investigated. It was found that these three Cu(II) complexes displayed a quenching of fluorescence, while Zn(II) complex exhibited a clear enhanced fluorescence.

Abstract:Five novel complexes with two pyridine substituted benzotriazole ligands, 1-(2-pyridyl)benzotriazole (L1) and 1-(4-pyridyl)benzotriazole (L2), [Zn(L-1)(2)Cl-2](1), [{Zn(L-1)(2)Cl-2} (C)(L1)2](2), [Zn(L-2)(2)Cl-2](3), [{Zn(L2)(H2O)(3)(mu(2)-SO4)}center dot H2O] (4), and [{Cd(L2)(H2O)(3)(mu(2)-SO4)}center dot H2O](5) were synthesized. The details of the structures were characterized by X-ray single crystal analysis, revealing that these complexes were assembled together via supramolecular interaction, such as, hydrogen bonding and pi-pi interactions. Stability Studies on 12-(5 '-8 '-Hydroxyquinolinic)methylene-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclo Tridecane-11,13-Dione, 5-Substituted 1,10-Phenanthroline-copper(ii) with Cu2+ or Co2+ Binuclear Mixed-Coordinated Systems

Abstract:C-functionalized dioxotetraamine ligands L have been designed and synthesized through simple methods, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, mass spectra and H-1 NMR. The ligand contains two independent chelating groups. At 25.0+/-0.1degreesC, I=0.1mol(.)dm(-3) NaNO3, pH titration has been performed to study the stability properties of L-5-R-5,10-phenanthroline-Cu(II) with proton, copper(H) and cobalt(II). The ternary complexes have been shown to possess interesting properties due to the involvement of three chelating groups, 5-substituted-1,10-phenanthroline, 8-hydroxyquinoline and dioxotetraamine. In addition, potentiometric titrations have been performed to study the protonation of L-5-R-1, 10-phenanthroline-Cu(II) (R=CH3,H,Cl,NO2) and their stability properties with copper(II) and cobalt(II). The results show that for Cu2+ and Co2+, 8-hydroxyquinoline is a strong chelating reagent than dioxytetraamine macrocycles. Using molecular mechanics (MM+) calculation, the stability of ternary mixed system on Co(II)-L-5-substituted-1, 10-phenanthroline-Cu(II) and Cu(II)-L-5-substituted-1,10-phenanthroline-Cu(II) have been studied and compared with the coordination ability for different coordination sites and for different metal ions (Co(II) and Cu(II)) at the same coordination site. The results obtained from calculation agree with the experimental results.

Abstract:24-N,N'-disubstituted 1,3,5-triazapentadienyl ligands as their lithium salts [Li{(N(R)C(R'))(2)N)](2) [where R = SiMe3 here and hereafter and R' = dimethylamino (1) or 1-piperidino (2)] were synthesized via the reactions of LiN(SiMe3)(2) with 2 equiv of the alpha-hydrogen-free carbonitrile dimethylcyanamide or 1-piperdinecarbonitrile and used in the isolation of the two-coordinate copper(l) complexes [Cu{(N(R)C(R'))(2)N}](2) [R' = dimethylamino (3) and 1-piperidino (4)]. Complex 2 features a twisted W-shaped ligand backbone in the solid state. Complexes 3 and 4 show an unusual 12-membered ring dinuclear copper(1) triazapentadienyl and a less expressed ability to form a stable delocalized triazapentadienyl system.

Abstract:Recent research has focused on molecules with different aromatic nitrogen-containing moieties coupled to a biphenyl core, as an effective approach for the assembly of coordination polymers. This study presents the synthesis and characterization of new ligands based on 1,1′-(3,3′-dimethoxy-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diyl)bis(4-butyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole) (L1) and 1,1′-(3,3′-dimethoxy-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diyl)bis(4-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole) (L2) and their coordination polymers with Cu(II) and Zn(II). An unexpected coordination polymer with Cu(I) starting from Cu(II) was obtained in the case of the L2 ligand. The ligands and metal complexes underwent thorough characterization, including X-ray diffraction, NMR-, FTIR-, MS-spectrometry, and EPR, XPS, and TG-DTG analyses. While the ligand L2 generated a linear Cu(I) polymer, the ligand L1 formed a zigzag polymer with both copper and zinc.

Abstract:Herein, a Schiff base ligand, 9-(((5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazole-4-yl)imino)methyl)-anthracene and its metal complexes with copper(II), nickel(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) ions have been synthesized and systematically characterized by certain analytical and multispectral studies. Fourier transform infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, microanalysis, mass spectra, electronic spectra, magnetic moment, powder X‐ray diffraction analysis, thermogravimetric-differential thermogravimetric analyses and electron spin resonance spectroscopy techniques have explicated the structure of the complexes. The copper complexes showed square planar geometry whereas other complexes are in an octahedral geometry. Metal complexes exhibited a remarkable fluorescence response. The electrochemical property, i.e., oxidation–reduction potential of copper complexes was enlightened by cyclic voltammetry. The activation thermodynamic parameters for the decomposition steps of complexes were documented using the Coats–Redfern method. Adverse antimicrobial activities of titled compounds have been studied against different microbes; in addition, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay was also used to evaluate the antioxidant activity of these compounds. Molecular docking was exercised to vaticinate the binding of the ligand with receptors of crystal structures of Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Candida albicans.

Abstract:A few pincer-type ligands, 1,3-bis(2 '-benzimidazolyl) benzene (L-1), 2,6-bis(2 '-benzimidazolyl)pyridine (L-2), and their N-alkylated derivatives were prepared and characterized by IR and H-1 NMR spectroscopy. The N-alkylated benzimidazolyl ligands, 2,6-bis(N-benzylbenzimidazolyl) pyridine (L-3), 2,6-bis(N-allylbenzimidazolyl) pyridine (L-4), and 1,3-bis( N-allylbenzimidazolyl) benzene (L-5) form 1 : 1 complexes with copper nitrate. Abstract:In an attempt to increase the biological activity of the 1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine scaffold through complexation with essential metal ions, the complexes trans-[Cu(mptp)2Cl2] (1), [Zn(mptp)Cl2(DMSO)] (2) (mptp: 5-methyl-7-phenyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine), [Cu2(dmtp)4Cl4]·2H2O (3) and [Zn(dmtp)2Cl2] (4) (dmtp: 5,7-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine), were synthesized and characterized as new antiproliferative and antimicrobial species. Both complexes (1) and (2) crystallize in the P21/n monoclinic space group, with the tetrahedral surroundings generating a square-planar stereochemistry in the Cu(II) complex and a tetrahedral stereochemistry in the Zn(II) species. The mononuclear units are interconnected in a supramolecular network through π–π interactions between the pyrimidine moiety and the phenyl ring in (1) while supramolecular chains resulting from C-H∙∙∙π interactions were observed in (2). All complexes exhibit an antiproliferative effect against B16 tumor cells and improved antibacterial and antifungal activities compared to the free ligands. Complex (3) displays the best antimicrobial activity against all four tested strains, both in the planktonic and biofilm-embedded states, which can be correlated to its stronger DNA-binding and nuclease-activity traits.

Abstract:The divalent transition metal ions Co, Ni, and Cu coordination compounds with unusual bidentate mixed Schiff base-based 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione ligand in a protonated specific coordination stoichiometry and structures forms were synthesized. The structural composition of the ligand 5-(1-naphthylmethyl)-4-{( Z )-[(2 E )-3-phenyl-2-propen-1-ylidene]amino}-2,4-dihydro-3 H -1,2,4-triazole-3-thione (LH) was fully identified by 1 H and 13 C NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis, mass spectrometry as well elemental analysis. The UV-Vis, FTIR spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductance, flame atomic absorption, and elemental analysis (CHNS) techniques were used to characterize the synthesized complexes. Three complexes of Ni(II), Co(II), and Cu(II), in addition to the ligand LH, were the subject of computational investigations. Benchmark analyses were carried out to determine the best degree of calculation for the complexes under the study. The B3LYP approach was chosen as the computation method. The B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) (LANL2DZ) was the best calculation rank. IR spectra and structural studies were carried out. Furthermore, a thorough investigation and examination of biological characteristics were conducted. Complex (Cu) was determined to be the most excellent choice for biological applications based on calculation findings.

Abstract:New complexes with 1,2,4-triazole and end-on azido bridging ligands, [Cu-3(atrz)(2)(N-3)(6)] 1 and [Cu(atrz)(2)(N-3)]NO3 2 (atrz = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole), have been prepared and structurally determined. Complex 1 has a linear trinuclear copper(II) structure with bridging bond angles Cu-N-N (atrz) [119.3(3) and 123.4(3)degrees], and larger Cu-N-Cu [118.7(2)degrees]. In 2 the copper(II) ions are linked by one end-on azido and two triazole bridges forming a cationic chain with Cu-N-N (equatorial atrz) [121.0(2) and 122.3(2)degrees] and Cu-N-Cu 104.05(12)degrees. The nearest-neighbour Cu ... Cu distances are 3.4496(7) Angstrom for 1 and 3.5034(6) Angstrom for 2. The copper(II) ions are strongly antiferromagnetically coupled with J = -108.8 cm(-1) for 1, and weakly with J = -17.7 cm(-1) for 2. The nature and the magnitude of the antiferromagnetic exchange of both complexes are discussed based on their structures.

Abstract:The reaction of a triazole ligand, 2-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)pyridine (L1), with 2-bromopyridine afforded three new ligands, 2,2'-(1H-1,2,3-triazole-1,4-diyl)dipyridine (L2), 2,2'-(2H-1,2,3-triazole-2,4-diyl)dipyridine (L3) and 2,2'-(1H-1,2,3-triazole-1,5-diyl)dipyridine (L4). A series of luminescent mononuclear copper(I) complexes of these ligands [Cu(Ln)(P^P)](ClO4) [n = 1, P^P = (PPh3)2 (1); n = 1, P^P = POP (2); n = 2, P^P = (PPh3)2 (3); n = 2, P^P = POP (4); n = 3, P^P = (PPh3)2 (5); n = 3, P^P = POP (6); n = 4, P^P = (PPh3)2 (9); n = 4, P^P = POP (10)] have been obtained from the reaction of Ln with [Cu(MeCN)4]ClO4 in the presence of PPh3 and POP. L3 was also found to form dinuclear compounds [Cu2(L3)(PPh3)4](ClO4)2 (7) and [Cu2(L3)(POP)2](ClO4)2 (8). All of the Cu(I) compounds have been characterized by IR, UV/vis, CV, 1H NMR, and 31P{1H} NMR. The molecular structure of 1-3, 5, and 7 have been further determined by X-ray crystallography. In CH2Cl2 solutions, these Cu(I) complexes exhibit tunable green to orange emissions (563–621 nm) upon excitation at λex = 380 nm. In the solid state, these complexes show intense emissions and it is interesting to note that 1 and 3 are blue-light emitters. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the lowest energy electronic transition associated with these complexes predominantly originates from metal-to-ligand charge transfer transitions (MLCT).

Abstract:Two Cu4I4 coordination polymers, [Cu2I2(aadtz)](n) (1) and [Cu2I(dtz)](n) (2) [aadtz = 4-[(1-aminoethylidene)-amino]-3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-triazole, dtz = 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-triazole], were synthesized in a one-pot reaction of CuI and 4-amino-3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-triazole under solvothermal conditions. The organic components were generated in situ from a common triazolate source. The structures of the Cu4I4 units in the polymers are different. The Cu4I4 cluster in complex 1 is an inorganic 8-membered ring with a chair-chair conformation, while the one in complex 2 is a distorted cubane. The topologies of the complexes were assigned as a two-dimensional 4-connected grid for 1 and a three-dimensional (3,4)-connected jph-type framework for 2. In addition, the luminescent properties of the complexes in the solid state were also investigated.

Abstract:A series of zinc, copper, cobalt, and nickel bis(chelate) complexes ( I – IV ) with 2,4,9,11-tetra- tert -butylbenzo[5,6][1,4]oxazino[2,3- b ]phenoxazin-1-ol (LН) of the general formula ML 2 is synthesized. The spatial and electronic structures of the synthesized coordination compounds are studied by the density functional theory (DFT B3LYP/6-311++g(d,p)). The molecular structure of the adduct of the copper complex with pyridine ( II ·Py) is determined by X-ray diffraction (CIF file CCDC no. 2113818). The spectral characteristics of the ligand and related complexes are studied.

Abstract:In our efforts to design metal complexes with tailored structures, four 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole-basecl ligands, 8-[3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolmethyl]quinoline (L-1), 1,4-bis[3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolyl]-trans-2-butene (L-2), 2,3-bis[3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolmethyl]quinoxaline (L-3), and 1,3,5-tri[3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolmethyl]-2,4,6-trimethylbenzene (L-4), have been synthesized and characterized, and their metal complexes with Cu-II, Ni-II, Co-II, and Cd-II ions have been prepared and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Using V to react with CuX2 (X = Ac, NO3-, or ClO4-) or Cd(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O, yielded four mononuclear complexes, [Cu(L-1)(2)(OAc)](OAc)(H2O)(6) (1) [triclinic, space group P(1) over bar, a = 10.513(11) angstrom, b = 13.875(14) angstrom, c = 15.776(16) angstrom, alpha = 70.98(2)degrees, beta = 83.57(2)degrees, gamma = 69.665(18)degrees, Z = 2], [Cu(L-1)(2)(NO3)](NO3)(H2O)(5.5) (2) [monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 12.395(3) angstrom, b = 26.267(6) angstrom, c = 26.362(7) angstrom, beta = 92.635(5)degrees, Z = 8], [Cu(L-1)(2)(H2O)](ClO4)(2) (3) [orthorhombic, space group Pbca, a = 13.326(4) angstrom, b = 21.715(6) angstrom, c = 26.318(8) angstrom, Z = 8], and [Cd(L-1)(3)](ClO4)(2)(H2O)(5/2) (4) [triclinic, space group P(1) over bar, a = 12.485(5) angstrom, b = 15.142(6) angstrom, c = 15.190(6) angstrom, alpha = 83.104(7)degrees, beta = 75.796(7)degrees, gamma = 79.584(7)degrees, Z = 2]. The reaction of L-2 with Cu(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O or Co(NO3)(2)center dot 6H(2)O yielded two double helical dinuclear complexes: [Cu-2(L-2)(2)(H2O)(2)](ClO4)(4)(H2O) (5) [triclinic, space group P(1) over bar, a = 10.791(4) angstrom, b = 13.923(7) angstrom, c = 19.756(9) angstrom, alpha = 72.297(12)degrees, beta = 78.201(14)degrees, gamma = 68.683(13)degrees, Z = 2] and [Co(L-2)(NO3)(H2O)](2)(NO3)(2) (6) [orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, a = 18.170(7) angstrom, b = 13.240(5) angstrom, c := 19.064(7) angstrom, Z = 4]. When L-2 was replaced by L-3 to react with Cu(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O or Ni(BF4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O, another mononuclear complex, [Cu(L-3)-(ClO4)](ClO4) (7) [triclinic, space group P(1) over bar, a = 10.1298(6) angstrom, b = 12.3163(6) angstrom, c = 12.9485(7) angstrom, alpha = 111.533(2)degrees, beta = 106.068(2)degrees, gamma = 99.921(2)degrees, Z = 2], and a novel tetranuclear complex, [Ni-2(L-3)(2)(H2O)(4)](2)(SO4)(2)(BF4)(4)(H2O)(8)(CH3OH)(8) (8) [triclinic, space group P(1) over bar, a = 13.818(8) angstrom, b = 16.645(8) angstrom, c = 20.937(11) angstrom, alpha = 109.508(10)degrees, beta = 107.144(9)degrees, gamma = 90.923(9)degrees, Z = 2], were obtained. L-4 reacts with Cu(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O, to yield a novel trinuclear complex, [Cu-3(L-4)(H2O)(9)](ClO4)(5)OH)(CH3CN)-(H2O)(4.5) (9) [monocliriic,. space group C2/c, a = 32.067(12) angstrom, b = 25.610(9) angstrom, c = 17.498(7) angstrom, = 115.187(6)degrees, Z = 4]. These results show that the nuclearity of metal complexes may be tuned by ligand modifications, and the nature of ligands, metal ions, counteranions, and solvent molecules play important roles in the formation of such coordination architectures. The emission properties of complexes 7 and 8 have been further studied.

Abstract:Novel polynuclear Cu(II) complexes containing derivatives of 1,2,4-trizaole and pivalate ligands, [Cu(3)(mu(3)-OH)(mu-adetrz)(2)(piv)(5)(H(2)O)].6.5H(2)O (1) (adetrz = 4-amino-3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-triazole, piv = pivalate), [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)(mu-atrz)(2)(mu-piv)(4)(piv)(2)].2MeOH.H(2)O (2) (atrz = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole), [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)(mu-tbtrz)(2)(mu-piv)(2)(piv)(4)].4H(2)O (3) (tbtrz = 4-tert-butyl-1,2,4-trizaole), and [Cu(4)(mu(3)-O)(2)(mu-admtrz)(4)(admtrz)(2)(mu-piv)(2)(piv)(2)].2[Cu(2)(mu-H(2)O)(mu-admtrz)(piv)(4)].13H(2)O [4 = 4a.2(4b).13H(2)O; admtrz = 4-amino-3,5-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole], have been prepared and structurally characterized. 1 is an asymmetrical triangular complex containing a [Cu(3)(mu(3)-OH)] core with two Cu---Cu edges spanned by bridging adetrz ligands. 2, 3, and 4a are novel tetranuclear compounds containing a [Cu(4)(mu(3)-O)(2)] or [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)] core with Cu---Cu edges spanned by bridging 1,2,4-triazole or pivalate ligands. 4b is a dinuclear compound with one admtrz and one water bridge, and it is the first dinuclear Cu(II) triazole complex with one bridging water molecule. 1 is one of few reported triangular Cu(II) complexes with derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole, while 2, 3, and 4a are the first group of the nonlinear tetranuclear Cu(II) compounds with derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies on the powder samples of 1-3 reveal the overall antiferromagnetic coupling between Cu(II) ions with J values of -55.6 to -12.8 cm(-1) (1), -216.4 to 0 cm(-1) (2), and -259.8 to 4.8 cm(-1) (3).
