Abstract:: Automatic age and gender classification has become relevant to an increasing amount of applications, particularly since the rise of social platforms and social media. Nevertheless, performance of existing methods on real-world images is still significantly lacking, especially when compared to the tremendous leaps in performance recently reported for the related task of face recognition. In this paper we show that by learning representations through the use of deep-convolutional neural networks (CNN), a significant increase in performance can be obtained on these tasks. To this end, we propose a simple convolutional net architecture that can be used even when the amount of learning data is limited. We evaluate our method on the recent Audience benchmark for age and gender estimation and show it to dramatically outperform current state-of-the-art methods. Age and gender play fundamental roles in social interactions. Languages reserve different salutations and grammar rules for men or women, and very often different vocabularies are used when addressing elders compared to young people. Despite the basic roles these attributes play in our day-to-day lives, the ability to automatically estimate them accurately and reliably from face images is still far from meeting the needs of commercial applications

Abstract:This paper proposes automatic age and gender predictions based on feature extraction from human facial images. In contrast to the other traditional methods on the unfiltered benchmarks show their failure to manage large degrees of variation in these types of facial images. In this work, we show that by learning representations through the use of deep convolutional neural networks (CNN), a significant increase in performance can be obtained on these tasks. The novel CNN approach used in this research is made to classify and achieve robust age group and gender classification of unconstrained images. This study has been evaluated and tested on both Essex face dataset and Adience benchmark for gender prediction and age estimation. The results obtained show that the proposed method provide a significant improvement in performance, our model obtains the state-of-the-art performance in both age and gender classification.

Abstract:The last decade or two has witnessed a boom of images. With the increasing ubiquity of cameras and with the advent of selfies, the number of facial images available in the world has skyrocketed. Consequently, there has been a growing interest in automatic age and gender prediction of a person using facial images. We in this paper focus on this challenging problem. Specifically, this paper focuses on age estimation, age classification and gender classification from still facial images of an individual. We train different models for each problem and we also draw comparisons between building a custom CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) architecture and using various CNN architectures as feature extractors, namely VGG16 pre-trained on VGGFace, Res-Net50 and SE-ResNet50 pre-trained on VGGFace2 dataset and training over those extracted features. We also provide baseline performance of various machine learning algorithms on the feature extraction which gave us the best results. It was observed that even simple linear regression trained on such extracted features outperformed training CNN, ResNet50 and ResNeXt50 from scratch for age estimation.

Abstract:Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been proven very effective for human demographics estimation by a number of recent studies. However, the proposed solutions significantly vary in different aspects leaving many open questions on how to choose an optimal CNN architecture and which training strategy to use. In this work, we shed light on some of these questions improving the existing CNN-based approaches for gender and age prediction and providing practical hints for future studies. In particular, we analyse four important factors of the CNN training for gender recognition and age estimation: (1) the target age encoding and loss function, (2) the CNN depth, (3) the need for pretraining, and (4) the training strategy: mono-task or multi-task. As a result, we design the state-of-the-art gender recognition and age estimation models according to three popular benchmarks: LFW, MORPH-II and FG-NET. Moreover, our best model won the ChaLearn Apparent Age Estimation Challenge 2016 significantly outperforming the solutions of other participants.

Abstract:Automatic age and gender prediction from face photos have received a lot of attention due to its use in a variety of facial analysis applications, including access control, marketing intelligence, enforcement, and visual surveillance. These are also the two facial attributes that play a pivotal part in social relations. Different facial features are uprooted using the Deep Convolution neural network. It works efficiently indeed with limited data. In a way, CNNs are regularized multilayer feedforward. In recent years, CNNs have been successfully applied to the task of age and gender detection. The ability of CNNs to automatically learn features relevant to the job at hand eliminates the need for manual feature engineering, which is one of their key advantages. Additionally, CNNs can be trained on large datasets, which allows them to generalize well to new, unseen data. Purpose of this research paper is to develop an algorithm that estimates the age and gender of a person correctly. In this research, we propose the use of a CNN for the task of age and gender detection. To train the network, we used a dataset consisting of images of faces along with their corresponding age and gender labels. Abstract:Facial analysis is the process of using computer algorithms to analyze human faces in real time in images or videos. For age prediction, most of the works in the domain are regression-based analysis. Therefore, the aim of this study is to design a convolutional neural network (CNN) model for age group prediction using facial appearance analysis. A total of 13,363 facial images were retrieved from an online repository and direct capturing, comprising of individuals from different age groups, races, and gender. The results from the study revealed that the edge of the face between the left eyeball, the tip of the mouth and the right eyeball predicted the age of a human being. The CNN model adaptively learns from the spatial hierarchies of features, from low to high level patterns, and adequately classified and predicted the age group with an accuracy score of 88.6%, which is an improvement over the benchmark of 86%. The model, having suitably addressed the classification problems of the classical methodologies, has made it well-suited for object detection, image segmentation, and classification. Therefore, the model is recommended for deployment in biometric security and specialized applications for person’s identification, age prediction and specialized services.

Abstract:Age and gender are complementary soft biometric traits for face recognition. Successful estimation of age and gender from facial images taken under real-world conditions can contribute improving the identification results in the wild. In this study, in order to achieve robust age and gender classification in the wild, we have benefited from Deep Convolutional Neural Networks based representation. We have explored transferability of existing deep convolutional neural network (CNN) models for age and gender classification. The generic AlexNet-like architecture and domain specific VGG-Face CNN model are employed and fine-tuned with the Adience dataset prepared for age and gender classification in uncontrolled environments. In addition, task specific GilNet CNN model has also been utilized and used as a baseline method in order to compare with transferred models. Experimental results show that both transferred deep CNN models outperform the GilNet CNN model, which is the state-of-the-art age and gender classification approach on the Adience dataset, by an absolute increase of 7% and 4.5% in accuracy, respectively. This outcome indicates that transferring a deep CNN model can provide better classification performance than a task specific CNN model, which has a limited number of layers and trained from scratch using a limited amount of data as in the case of GilNet. Domain specific VGG-Face CNN model has been found to be more useful and provided better performance for both age and gender classification tasks, when compared with generic AlexNet-like model, which shows that transfering from a closer domain is more useful.

Abstract:Automatically predicting age group and gender from face images acquired in unconstrained conditions is an important and challenging task in many real-world applications. Nevertheless, the conventional methods with manually-designed features on in-the-wild benchmarks are unsatisfactory because of incompetency to tackle large variations in unconstrained images. This difficulty is alleviated to some degree through Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for its powerful feature representation. In this paper, we propose a new CNN based method for age group and gender estimation leveraging Residual Networks of Residual Networks (RoR), which exhibits better optimization ability for age group and gender classification than other CNN <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://architectures.Moreover" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, two modest mechanisms based on observation of the characteristics of age group are presented to further improve the performance of age <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://estimation.In" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> order to further improve the performance and alleviate over-fitting problem, RoR model is pre-trained on ImageNet firstly, and then it is fune-tuned on the IMDB-WIKI-101 data set for further learning the features of face images, finally, it is used to fine-tune on Adience data set. Our experiments illustrate the effectiveness of RoR method for age and gender estimation in the wild, where it achieves better performance than other CNN methods. Finally, the RoR-152+IMDB-WIKI-101 with two mechanisms achieves new state-of-the-art results on Adience benchmark.

Abstract:Automatic classification of age and gender has become crucial for a rising number of applications, especially as social platforms and social media have risen. However, there is still substantial lack of performance of present approaches in real-world photos, especially when compared to the enormous performance jumps reported lately in the associated facial recognition job. In this research we show that a considerable gain in performance may be achieved by the application of convolution neural networks (CNN). This work is primarily designed to construct an algorithm that accurately guesses a person's age and gender.Haar cascade is one of the most often utilised approaches. In this research we provide a model that can help Haar Cascade to determine a person's gender. The model trained the classifier as positive and negative pictures using diverse photos of men and women. Various face characteristics are removed. With the help of Haar Cascade, the classifier determines if the picture input is men or women. Even with insufficient data, it functions effectively. A deep education framework created with Caffe is used to do the age or sex approximation task. Our model is able to detect multiple faces in single image and predict age and gender of all faces present in the image.

Abstract:In this project, competition-winning deep neural networks with pretrained weights are used for image-based gender recognition and age estimation. Transfer learning is explored using both VGG19 and VGGFace pretrained models by testing the effects of changes in various design schemes and training parameters in order to improve prediction accuracy. Training techniques such as input standardization, data augmentation, and label distribution age encoding are compared. Finally, a hierarchy of deep CNNs is tested that first classifies subjects by gender, and then uses separate male and female age models to predict age. A gender recognition accuracy of 98.7% and an MAE of 4.1 years is achieved. This paper shows that, with proper training techniques, good results can be obtained by retasking existing convolutional filters towards a new purpose.

Abstract:Facial age is one of the prominent features needed to make decisions, such as accessing certain areas or resources, targeted advertising, or more straightforward decisions such as addressing one another. In machine learning, facial age estimation is a typical facial analysis subtask in which a model learns the different facial ageing features from several facial images. Despite several studies confirming a relationship between age and gender, very few studies explored the idea of introducing a gender-based system that consists of two separate models, each trained on a specific gender group. This study attempts to bridge this gap by introducing an age estimation system that consists of two main components. The first component is a custom-built gender classifier that distinguishes females and males apart. The second is an age estimation module that consists of two models. Model A is trained only on female images, while model B is trained only on male images. The system takes an input image, extracts the facial gender then passes the image to the appropriate model based on the predicted gender label. Our age estimation models are based on the Visual Geometry Group (VGG16) networks and have been modified to fit the nature of our problem. The models produce accuracies of more than 85% individually, and the system achieves an overall accuracy of 80%. The proposed system is trained and tested on the UTKFace dataset and cross-validated on the FG-NET dataset to validate the performance on unseen data.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an improved end-to-end learning algorithm to address the aggregation of multiclass classification and regression for age estimation by using deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Inspired by Soft Stagewise Regression Network (SSR-Net), we take residual units embedded with channel and spatial feature response correlation values and dynamically adopted the kernel corresponding to these feature maps into our model. In addition, we used weight normalization at each layer by using input samples at the beginning of training and this weight normalization was beneficial both in terms of accuracy as well as training time. We validate the proposed model based on benchmark datasets and compare the MAE with seven other mainstream networks. The results reveal that our model achieves an improved performance. Our contribution is an updated algorithm for age estimation by adopting the latest attention and normalization mechanisms for balancing the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed model.

Abstract:Automatic age and gender classification has been widely used in a large amount of applications, particularly in human–computer interaction, biometrics, visual surveillance, electronic customer and commercial applications. Predicting age and gender of humans is very difficult and complicated. Since the increase in use of social media, autonomous prediction of age and gender has become extremely important. Nevertheless, performance of the existing methods on real-world images is still significantly lacking, especially when compared to the tremendous leaps in performance recently reported for the related task of face recognition. In this research paper, we have observed an increase in the performance on these tasks by using convolutional neural networks (CNN). We collected a dataset from ‘Google’ and ‘IMFDB.’ This dataset consisted of about 100,000 images of male and female of different age-groups (5–60). We created a CNN network adjoining the fully connected network using ‘Keras’ library. Following that, three convoluted layers were inserted; the first layer consisting of 64 neurons and window of 7 × 7, followed by a ReLU activation layer and a max-pooling layer of 2 × 2. Two more CNN layers of 100 and 64 neurons were inserted, followed by windows of 5 × 5 and 3 × 3, respectively, with activation function as ReLU. An output was received in matrix form which was flattened using a flatten layer. The layer was then fed to fully connected layers with 64 and 1 neurons each. The final output layer consisted of a single neuron with sigmoid activation function.

Abstract:The development of intelligent systems capable of effectively learning and recognising objects is the major goal of the very active research fields of pattern recognition and automatic classification. The usage of biometrics, which is generally utilised for security considerations, is integral to these applications. In the realm of research, the face modality has grown in importance as a basic biometric technique. The objective of this work is to create a system for estimating age and gender from a facial image or real-time video using convolutional neural networks. In this study, three CNN network models with various architectures (number of filters, number of convolution layers, etc.) were built and validated using data from the IMDB and WIKI. The results revealed that CNN networks significantly increase the system's performance and recognition accuracy.

Abstract:Automatic prediction of age and gender from face images has drawn a lot of attention recently, due it is wide applications in various facial analysis problems. However, due to the large intra-class variation of face images (such as variation in lighting, pose, scale, occlusion), the existing models are still behind the desired accuracy level, which is necessary for the use of these models in real-world applications. In this work, we propose a deep learning framework, based on the ensemble of attentional and residual convolutional networks, to predict gender and age group of facial images with high accuracy rate. Using attention mechanism enables our model to focus on the important and informative parts of the face, which can help it to make a more accurate prediction. We train our model in a multi-task learning fashion, and augment the feature embedding of the age classifier, with the predicted gender, and show that doing so can further increase the accuracy of age prediction. Our model is trained on a popular face age and gender dataset, and achieved promising results. Through visualization of the attention maps of the train model, we show that our model has learned to become sensitive to the right regions of the face.

Abstract:The development of technology and the popularization of AI (artificial intelligence), face recognition has become fundamental by various applications, both in military and economic appearance because it is gradually being introduced into the lives of individuals, exemplifying, in the use of face recognition for unlocking mobile phones. Starting in the 1990s, they began to learn age identification by means of a face photo, it should be said that the recognition of the old face is quite challenging within the environment of the perspective by PC. This article is made in order to be used in marketing, as it could be given differentiated products according to the age of consumers; for this purpose we have used public databases to classify by age the images of faces of both men and women, thanks to a model of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), with which we obtained an efficiency in the categorization of around 97.86%, we also performed prediction tests in which the silver model obtained an approximate success rate of 87.64%. Abstract:The problem of gender and age identification has been addressed by many researchers, however, the attention given to it compared to the other related problems of face recognition in particular is far less. The success achieved in this domain has not seen much improvement compared to the other face recognition problems. Any language in the world has a separate set of words and grammatical rules when addressing people of different ages. The decision associated with its usage, relies on our ability to demarcate these individual characteristics like gender and age from the facial appearances at one glance. With the rapid usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based systems in different fields, we expect that such decision making capability of these systems match as much as to the human capability. To this end, in this work, we have designed a deep learning based model, called GRA_Net (Gated Residual Attention Network), for the prediction of age and gender from the facial images. This is a modified and improved version of Residual Attention Network where we have included the concept of Gate in the architecture. Gender identification is a binary classification problem whereas prediction of age is a regression problem. We have decomposed this regression problem into a combination of classification and regression problems for achieving better accuracy. Experiments have been done on five publicly available standard datasets namely FG-Net, Wikipedia, AFAD, UTKFAce and AdienceDB. Obtained results have proven its effectiveness for both age and gender classification, thus making it a proper candidate for the same against any other state-of-the-art methods.

We show in this study that utilizing the Caffe Model Architecture of Deep Learning Frame Work; we were able to greatly enhance age and gender recognition by learning representations using deep-convolutional neural networks (CNN). We propose a much simpler convolutional net architecture that can be employed even if no learning data is available. In a recent study presenting a potential benchmark for age and gender estimation, we show that our strategy greatly outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract:The automatic prediction of emotion, age, and gender from facial images has recently garnered significant attention due to its wide range of applications in various facial analysis problems. This study aims to explore the relationship between personality traits, intelligence, and facial images. Leveraging deep learning based on convolutional neural networks (CNN), the study predicts emotion, gender, and age group of facial images with high accuracy. Deep learning (DL) based detection outperforms traditional methods such as K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) combined with image processing. The model leverages the power of deep learning to accurately predict these attributes from facial images. By training on a large dataset of labelled images, the model learns to recognize patterns and make accurate predictions. This project focuses on the recognition of age, gender, and facial emotions using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The Facial Expression Recognition (FER) dataset is utilized for emotion recognition and pre-trained models are utilized for age and gender recognition. Our proposed model is compared with other existing models and current research, where the proposed model gives better accuracy.
