Abstract:A polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-degrading and acylhomoserine-lactone-producing marine bacterium, designated strain PQ-2(T), was isolated from marine biofilm collected from a boat shell at a harbour of Zhoushan island in Zhejiang Province, PR China. Strain PQ-2(T) is Gram-stain-negative, yellow-pigmented, non-motile and short rod-shaped. Optimal growth of strain PQ-2(T) was observed at 32 °C, at pH 7.0 and in 2% (w/v) NaCl. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain PQ-2(T) showed highest similarity to Croceicoccus marinus E4A9(T) (96.3%) followed by Novosphingobium malaysiense MUSC 273(T) (95.6%) and Altererythrobacter marinus H32(T) (95.6%). Phylogenetic analysis with all species of the family Erythrobacteraceae with validly published names revealed that strain PQ-2(T) formed a phyletic line with Croceicoccus marinus E4A9(T) that was distinct from other members of the family Erythrobacteraceae . The sole respiratory quinone was ubiquinone 10 (Q-10). The predominant fatty acids were C18 : 1ω7c, C17 : 1ω6c and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH). The genomic DNA G+C content was 61.7 mol%. In the polar lipid profile, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified phospholipid and one sphingoglycolipid were the major compounds; and another sphingoglycolipid was present in a minor amount. Based on the genotypic and phenotypic data, strain PQ-2(T) represents a novel species of the genus Croceicoccus , for which the name Croceicoccus naphthovorans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is PQ-2(T) ( =CGMCC 1.12805(T) =NBRC 110381(T)). In addition, emended descriptions for the genus Croceicoccus and the species C. marinus are given.
Rhodococcus biphenylivorans sp. nov., a polychlorinated biphenyl-degrading bacterium

Abstract:A Gram-positive, aerobic, non-motile and rod–coccus shaped novel actinobacterial strain, designated as TG9 T , was isolated from a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)-contaminated sediment in Taizhou city, Zhejiang province, eastern China. The isolate was observed to grow at 10–45 °C (optimum 28–32 °C), pH 5.0–11.0 (optimum pH 7.0–8.0) and with 0–9.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0–3.0 %). Comparison of the 16S rRNA gene sequences of strain TG9 T and other members of the genus Rhodococcus showed that strain TG9 T shared highest similarities with Rhodococcus pyridinivorans DSM 44555 T (99.4 %), R. rhodochrous DSM 43241 T (99.2 %), R. gordoniae DSM 44689 T (99.2 %) and R. artemisiae DSM 45380 T (98.2 %). However, low levels of DNA–DNA relatedness (15–48 %), which are below the 70 % limit for prokaryotic species identification, were obtained by DNA–DNA hybridization. Strain TG9 T was found to contain meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid and arabinose and galactose in the whole-cell hydrolysate. Mycolic acids were found to be present. The major fatty acids were identified as C 16:0 , C 16:1 ω 7 c and/or iso-C 15:0 2-OH, 10-methyl C 18:0 and C 18:1 ω 9 c . The only menaquinone detected was MK-8 (H 2 ). The major polar lipids detected were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, glycolipid and traces of some unknown lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain TG9 T was determined to be 62.8 %. The combined phenotypic and genotypic data show that the strain represents a novel species of the genus Rhodococcus for which the name Rhodococcus biphenylivorans sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain TG9 T (=CGMCC 1.12975 T = KCTC 29673 T = MCCC 1K00286 T ).
Pseudomonas Mangrovi Sp. Nov., Isolated from Mangrove Soil.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile, short-rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain TC11T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of mangrove forest (Kandeliaobovata) in Fugong village, Zhangzhou, Fujian, China. Strain TC11T grew at 15-45 °C (optimum, 35 °C), 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1 %, w/v) and pH 5.5-9.5 (optimum, pH 7.5). Phylogenetic analyses revealed that strain TC11T belonged to a clade of the genus Pseudomonas and showed the highest sequence similarity of 98.4 % to Pseudomonas fluvialis ASS-1T, followed by Pseudomonas oleovorans subsp.oleovorans DSM 1045T (97.9 %), Pseudomonas indoloxydans JCM 14246T (97.7 %), Pseudomonas guguanensis JCM 18416T(97.6 %) and Pseudomonas alcaliphila JCM 10630T (97.5 %) on the basis of their 16S rRNA gene sequences. The DNA G+C content was 64.3 mol%. In silico DNA-DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between strain TC11T and the reference strains were 19-22 % and 72-78 %, respectively. Studies based on the three housekeeping genes, rpoB, gyrB and rpoD, further confirmed that strain TC11T is a novel member of the genus Pseudomonas. The major fatty acids of strain TC11Twere C16 : 0, summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω6c/C18 : 1ω7c) and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c/C16 : 1ω6c). The sole isoprenoid quinone was Q-9. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and diphosphatidylglycerol. Based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic properties, strain TC11T represents a novel species of the genus Pseudomonas, for which the name Pseudomonasmangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is TC11T (=KCTC 62159=MCCC 1K03499).
Polyphasic Taxonomic Characterisation of a Novel Strain As Pararhizobium Haloflavum Sp. Nov., Isolated from Soil Samples Near a Sewage Treatment Tank

Abstract:A Gram-stain negative, aerobic, motile and ovoid- to rod-shaped bacteria strain, designated XC0140T, was isolated from soil samples near the sewage treatment tank of a chemical factory in Zhejiang Province, China, and subjected to polyphasic taxonomic investigation. Strain XC0140T grew at 10–37 °C and pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, 35 °C and pH 7.5) and with 0–17% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1%). According to phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain XC0140T was assigned to the genus Pararhizobium with high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 95.97% to “Pararhizobium helanshanense CCNWQTX14T”, followed by Pararhizobium sphaerophysae CCNWGS0238T (95.95%). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that strain XC0140T contains ubiquinone-10 as the predominant respiratory quinone and possessed summed feature 8 (comprising C18: 1 ω7c and/or ω6c), 11-methyl C18:1 ω7c, C18: 0 and C16: 0 as predominant forms of fatty acids. The polar lipids of strain XC0140T consisted of seven phospholipids (PL), two aminolipids (AL), one glycolipid (GL) and three unidentified lipids (L1, L2 and L3). The DNA G+C content was 62.7 mol%. Based on the polyphasic taxonomic characterization, strain XC0140T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Pararhizobium, for which the name Pararhizobium haloflavum sp. nov. is proposed. Description of Erythrobacter Mangrovi Sp. Nov., an Aerobic Bacterium from Rhizosphere Soil of Mangrove Plant ( Kandelia Candel )

Abstract:A novel Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain EB310T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of mangrove plant Kandelia candel in Fugong village, Zhangzhou, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain EB310T belonged to the genus Erythrobacter, clustering with Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T, Erythrobacter lutimaris KCTC 42109T and Erythrobacter marisflavi KCTC 62896T, and showed the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.5% to Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T. The genomic average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain EB310T and the reference strains were 71.0–75.5% and 19.8–20.0%, respectively. Growth ranges of the isolate occurred at 10–45 °C (optimum 28–30 °C), pH 5.5–9.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and 0–9.0% NaCl concentrations (optimum 2.0%, w/v). The strain did not produce bacteriochlorophyll a and flexirubin, but produced carotenoids. The strain contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone and summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c/C16:1 ω6c) and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω6c/C18:1 ω7c) as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylcholine. Differential phenotypic characteristics, together with chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic distinctiveness, indicated that strain EB310T is distinguishable from other members of the genus Erythrobacter. On the basis of the data exhibited, strain EB310T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Erythrobacter, for which the name Erythrobacter mangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is EB310T (= KCTC 72109T = MCCC 1K03690T). The genomic DNA G + C content is 62.9 mol%.

Abstract:A Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-motile and ovoid- to rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated JB3 T , was isolated from a wastewater sample collected from the biochemical reaction basin of Haiyan fine chemical factory in Zhejiang, China. Strain JB3 T was found to grow optimally at pH 7.0–8.0, at 28 °C and in the presence of 1.0–2.0 % (w/v) NaCl. Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that strain JB3 T contains ubiquinone-10 (>99 %) as the predominant respiratory quinone and C 18:1 ω 7 c (70.9 %) as the most abundant fatty acid. The polar lipids of strain JB3 T were identified as phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, an aminophospholipid, an unidentified aminolipid, four unidentified phospholipids and three unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain JB3 T was determined to be 68.1 mol%. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between the isolate and Roseovarius crassostreae DSM 16950 T , Roseovarius sediminilitoris KCTC 23959 T and Roseovarius halocynthiae MA1-10 T were found to be 97.1, 96.8 and 96.2 %, respectively. Morevoer, the similarity between strain JB3 T and the type strain of the genus Roseovarius ( Roseovarius tolerans DSM 11457 T ) was found to be 93.8 %. The phylogenetic trees reconstructed with all three treeing methods showed that strain JB3 T constituted a different taxon, which was separate from other taxa with validly published names, and formed a cluster with R. crassostreae DSM 16950 T , R. sediminilitoris KCTC 23959 T and R. halocynthiae MA1-10 T . These three species were not placed within the phylogenetic cluster formed by R. tolerans DSM 11457 T . Differential phenotypic properties, together with the phylogenetic distinctiveness, demonstrated that strain JB3 T is clearly distinct from species of the genus Roseovarius . On the basis of these features, we propose strain JB3 T represents a novel species of a novel genus with the name Pseudoroseovarius zhejiangensis gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is JB3 T (=MCCC 1K00457 T = KCTC 42443 T ). We also propose that R. crassostreae , R. sediminilitoris and R. halocynthiae should be transferred to this new genus as Pseudoroseovarius crassostreae comb. nov., Pseudoroseovarius sediminilitoris comb. nov. and Pseudoroseovarius halocynthiae comb. nov., respectively.

Abstract:A novel, Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and irregular rod-shaped bacterium designated Q22(T) was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of mangrove plant, Kandelia candel collected in Zhangzhou, Fujian province, China. Strain Q22(T) was able to grow at 10-40 degrees C (optimum 30 degrees C), pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum 7.0-8.0) and with 0-5.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0 %). The genomic DNA G+C content was 71.9%. The average nucleotide identity, and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain Q22(T) and the reference strains were 79.7-88.9% and 22.6-37.4%, respectively. The predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-12 and the major fatty acids were anteiso-C-15:0, iso-C-16:0 and anteiso-C-17:0. The major polar lipids of strain Q22(T) were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, one glycolipid and three unidentified lipids. The strain Q22(T) contained 2,4-diaminobutyric acid, alanine acid, glutamic acid and glycine in the peptidoglycans. The phylogenetic analysis and genotypic features, along with the phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, indicate that strain Q22(T) represents a novel species of the genus Agromyces, for which the name Agromyces kandeliae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Q22(T) (=MCCC 1K03340(T) = KCTC 39961(T)).

Abstract:A novel, Gram-stain-positive, microaerophilic to aerobic, non-endospore-forming, no-motile and rod-shaped bacterium designated Q14 T was isolated from mangrove soil samples collected on chengmai, Hainan province, China. Strain Q14 T was able to grow at 10–40 °C (optimum 30 °C), pH 5.5–10.0 (optimum 6.5-8.0) and with 0.5–6% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1%). The genomic DNA G+C content was 70.1%. The chemotaxonomic analysis showed that the predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-12 and the major fatty acids were anteiso-C 15:0 , iso-C 17:0 and anteiso-C 17:0 . The major polar lipids of strain Q14 T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and one glycolipid. The strain Q14 T contained 2,4-diaminobutylic acid (A 2 bu), alanine acid, glutamic acid and glycine in the peptidoglycans. The phylogenetic analysis and DNA–DNA hybridization, along with the phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, indicate that strain Q14 T as a novel species of the genus Agromyces , for which the name Agromyces mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed. Mesorhizobium Oceanicum Sp. Nov., Isolated from Deep Seawater

Abstract:A novel Gram-staining-negative, oval-shaped (0.4-0.6×0.8-1.0 µm), non-motile strain without flagella, designated B7T, was isolated from deep seawater in the South China Sea. Strain B7T was able to grow at 25-40 °C (optimum 35 °C), at pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 3 %). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that the predominant isoprenoid quinone was Q-10 and the dominant fatty acids were C19 : 0 cyclo 8c and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω7c/C18 : 1ω6c). The polar lipids of strain B7T were diphosphatidyglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, one unknown aminophospholipid, one unknown glycolipid and three unknown lipids. The DNA G+C content of the genomic DNA was 65.1 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain B7T belongs to the genus Mesorhizobium with similarities ranging from 96.2 to 97.5 %. Phylogenetic analyses of housekeeping genes recA, atpD and glnII indicated that strain B7T represented a distinct evolutionary lineage with the genus Mesorhizobium. OrthoANI values between strain B7T and related strains of the genus Mesorhizobium (<80 %) were lower than the threshold value of 95 % ANI relatedness for species demarcation. Therefore, strain B7T is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Mesorhizobium, for which the name Mesorhizobium oceanicumsp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is B7T (=KCTC 42783T=MCCC 1K02305T).
Nitratireductor Mangrovi Sp. Nov., a Nitrate-Reducing Bacterium Isolated from Mangrove Soil.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile and short-rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain SY7T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of the mangrove Kandelia obovata of Fugong village, in Zhangzhou, China. The isolate grew at 10–45 °C (optimum 30 °C), pH 6.0–10.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and 0–8% NaCl (optimum 3%, w/v). The 16S rRNA gene sequence and phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain SY7T located within the radiation of genus Nitratireductor and showed the highest sequence similarity of 97.23% to Nitratireductor pacificus MCCC 1A01024T. The DNA G+C content was 64.9%. In silico DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between strain SY7T with reference strains of N. pacificus MCCC 1A01024T, N. basaltis KCTC 22119T and N. aquibiodomus DSM 15645T were 16.7%, 14.3%, 14.7% and 75.2%, 72.6%, 73.5%, respectively. The major isoprenoid quinone was Q-10. The dominant fatty acids were 11-methyl C18:1ω7c, iso-C17:0, C19:0ω8c cyclo and summed feature 8 (C18:1ω6c/C18:1ω7c), a profile that almost matched the other members of the genus Nitratireductor. The predominant polar lipids were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol. On the basis of the phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic analysis, strain SY7T represents a novel species of the genus Nitratireductor, for which the name Nitratireductor mangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is SY7T (= KCTC 72110T = MCCC 1K03723T).

Abstract:A Gram-reaction-negative, rod-shaped, motile, neutrophilic bacterium, designated strain BH3(T), was isolated from wastewater of a sequential batch reactor treating wastewater taken from a leather plant. The isolate grew in 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl, at pH 6-9 and at 4-45 °C. Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that strain BH3(T) had characteristics typical of members of the genus Sphingomonas, such as the presence of sphingolipids, Q-10 and 2-hydroxymyristic acid and the absence of 3-hydroxy fatty acids. The presence of C(18 : 1)ω7c (39.2 %) and C(16 : 0) (11.2 %) as major fatty acids, C(14 : 0) 2-OH (20.6 %) as the major 2-hydroxy fatty acid and homospermidine as the major polyamine indicated that strain BH3(T) belonged to the genus Sphingomonas sensu stricto. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain BH3(T) was 65.6 mol%. 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between the isolate and closely related members of the genus Sphingomonas sensu stricto ranged from 92.6 to 97.3 %, the highest sequence similarities being to Sphingomonas melonis DSM 14444(T) (97.3 %) and Sphingomonas aquatilis DSM 15581(T) (97.3 %). Based on its phenotypic characteristics and the results of DNA-DNA hybridization studies and 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons, strain BH3(T) represents a novel species of the genus Sphingomonas sensu stricto, for which the name Sphingomonas rubra sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is BH3(T) ( = CGMCC 1.9113(T) = JCM 16230(T)).
Pseudomonas sihuiensis sp. nov., isolated from a forest soil in South China

Abstract:A Gram-stain negative, motile, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain WM-2 T , was isolated from a forest soil in Sihui City, South China, and characterized by means of a polyphasic approach. Growth occurred with 0–5 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0–1 %) and at pH 5.0–10.5 (optimum pH 8.5) and 4–40 °C (optimum 30 °C) in Luria–Bertani medium. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses showed that strain WM-2 T is a member of the genus Pseudomonas and most closely related to P. guguanensis , P. oleovorans subsp. lubricantis , P. toyotomiensis , P. alcaliphila and P. mendocina with 97.1–96.6 % sequence similarities. In terms of gyr B and rpo B gene sequences, strain WM-2 T showed the highest similarity with the type strains of the species P. toyotomiensis and P. alcaliphila . The DNA–DNA relatedness values of strain WM-2 T with P. guguanensis and P. oleovorans subsp. lubricantis was 48.7 and 37.2 %, respectively. Chemotaxonomic characteristics (the main ubiquinone Q-9, major fatty acids C 18:1 ω 7 c /C 18:1 ω 6 c , C 16:0 and C 16:1 ω 7 c /C 16:1 ω 6 c and DNA G+C content 65.2 ± 0.7 mol%) were similar to those of members of the genus Pseudomonas . Polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unknown aminophospholipid, an unknown phospholipid and five unknown lipids. According to the results of polyphasic analyses, strain WM-2 T represents a novel species in the genus Pseudomonas, for which the name Pseudomonas sihuiensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is WM-2 T (=KCTC 32246 T =CGMCC 1.12407 T ).

Abstract:A Gram-stain negative, pink-pigmented, strictly aerobic, non-motile and coccoid-shaped bacterial strain, designated TG-679T, was isolated from a deep-sea water sample collected from the South China Sea. Cells of strain TG-679T were catalase- and oxidase-positive, lacked bacteriochlorophyll a and carotenoid. Strain TG-679T was found to grow at 10-40 °C (optimum, 28 °C), pH 5.5-10.0 (optimum, pH 7.5) and with 0.5-2.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.5 %). Chemotaxonomic analysis of strain TG-679T indicated that the sole respiratory quinone was Q-10, the predominant cellular fatty acid was C18 : 1ω7c, and the major polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, an unidentified phospholipid and two unidentified glycolipids. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain TG-679T was 65.9 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain TG-679T constituted a separated branch in the family Rhodobacteraceae. Differential phenotypic properties, together with phylogenetic distinctiveness, demonstrated that strain TG-679T is clearly distinct from any validly published genus. Based on polyphasic taxonomic characterization, strain TG-679T is considered to represent a novel species of a novel genus, for which the name Meridianimarinicoccus roseus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the species is TG-679T (=KCTC 62454T=MCCC 1K03496T).

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated LG-4 T , was isolated from sediment of Qiantang River in Zhejiang Province, PR China. Cells were strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and short-rod-shaped (1.0–1.2 μm long and 0.7–0.8 μm wide). Growth occurred at 15–42 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.0–9.0 (pH 7.0) and at 0–2.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0.5 % NaCl). Strain LG-4 T showed 95.75–96.90 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to various type strains of the genera Tabrizicola , Pseudotabrizicola , Phaeovulum , Rhodobacter and Wagnerdoeblera of the family Paracoccaceae , and the most closely related strain was Tabrizicola soli ZQBW T (96.90 % similarity). The phylogenomic tree showed that strain LG-4 T clustered in the family Paracoccaceae and was positioned outside of the clade composed of the genera Wagnerdoeblera and Falsigemmobacter . The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain LG-4 T and the related type strains were in the range of 74.19–77.56 % and 16.70–25.80 %, respectively. The average amino acid identity (AAI) values between strain LG-4 T and related type strains of the family Paracoccaceae were 60.94–69.73 %, which are below the genus boundary (70 %). The evolutionary distance (ED) values between LG-4 T and the related genera of the family Paracoccaceae were 0.21–0.34, which are within the recommended standard (≥0.21–0.23) for defining a novel genus in the family Paracoccaceae . The predominant cellular fatty acids were C 18 : 1 ω7 c , C 19 : 0 cyclo ω8 c , C 18 : 0 and C 16 : 0 , the isoprenoid quinone was Q-10, and the major polar lipids were phospholipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, aminolipid and two unknown polar lipids. The genome size was 4.7 Mb with 68.6 mol% G+C content. On the basis of distinct phylogenetic relationships, low AAI values and high ED values, and differential phenotypic, physiological and biochemical characteristics, strain LG-4 T represents a novel species of a new genus in the family Paracoccaceae , for which the name Ruixingdingia sedimenti gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Abstract:An aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, short rod-shaped, non-motile and non-sporulating bacterium, designed strain 8-1b(T), was isolated from seaweed collected from the intertidal zone of Zhoushan sea area, East China Sea. Strain 8-1b(T) grew at 4-39 °C (optimum, 28-32 °C) and at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum, 7.0-8.5), and with 0.5-8% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1-3%) and 0.5-10% (w/v) sea salts (optimum, 2-3%). Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain 8-1b(T) was related closely to Aequorivita capsosiphonis JCM 15070(T) (96.7% similarity). The DNA G+C content of strain 8-1b(T) was 36.6 mol%. Compared with reference strains, cells of strain 8-1b(T) showed positive activities for H₂S production and utilization of D-mannose, DL-lactic acid, L-asparagine and glycyl L-aspartic acid. The major fatty acids of strain 8-1b(T) were iso-C(15:0), iso-C(17:0) 3-OH, iso-C(15:1) G and iso-C(17:1)ω9c. The main respiratory quinone was menaquinone 6. The polar lipids of strain 8-1b(T) consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), three uncharacterized aminolipids (AL1-3), four uncharacterized glycolipids (GL1-4) and five uncharacterized lipids (L1-5). Based on the phenotypic and genotypic characterization, strain 8-1b(T) represents a novel species of the genus Aequorivita, for which the name Aequorivita viscosa sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is strain 8-1b(T) ( =CGMCC 1.11023(T) = JCM 18497(T)). Emended descriptions of Aequorivita antarctica and Aequorivita capsosiphonis are also presented.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium, designated 15182T, was isolated from a saline lake in China. The novel strain 15182T was able to grow at 10-40 °C (optimum, 37 °C), pH 7.0-8.0 (optimum, 7.5) and with 0.5-4 % NaCl (optimum, 2-3 %, w/v). The phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain 15182T was most closely related to the genus Rhodohalobacter by sharing the highest sequence similarity of 97.0 % with Rhodohalobacter halophilus JZ3C29T. Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that the sole respiratory quinone was menaquinone 7, the major fatty acids included C16 : 0 N alcohol and C16 : 1ω11c. The major polar lipids included diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, four uncharacterized glycolipids, one uncharacterized phospholipid and two uncharacterized lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content of the strain 15182T was 42.4 mol%. The average nucleotide identity value between 15182T and R. halophilus JZ3C29T was 75.4 %, and the in silico DNA-DNA hybridization value of the two strains was 19.1 %. On the basis of its phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, genotypic and genomic characteristics presented in this study, strain 15182T is suggested to represent a novel species in the genus Rhodohalobacter, for which the name Rhodohalobacter barkolensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 15182T (=KCTC 62172T=MCCC 1K03442T). An emended description of the genus Rhodohalobacter is also presented.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative aerobic bacterium, strain 11K1(T), was isolated from a rhizosphere soil of broad bean collected from Qujing, Yunnan, PR China and characterized by using polyphasic taxonomy. The bacterial cells of strain 11K1(T) were rod-shaped, motile by two polar flagella and positive for oxidase and catalase. Results of phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that the strain had the highest similarities to Pseudomonas thivervalensis DSM 13194(T) (99.52%), Pseudomonas lini CFBP 5737(T) (99.45%), Pseudomonas chtororaphis subsp. chlororaphis NBRC 3904(T) (99.31%), Pseudomonas kilonensis DSM 13647(T) (99.25%) and Pseudomonas brassicacearum JCM11938(T) (99.24%). Multilocus sequence analysis using the 16S rRNA, gyrB, rpoB and rpoD gene sequences demonstrated that strain 11K1(T) was a member of the Pseudomonas corrugata subgroup within the Pseudomonas fluorescens lineage, but was distant from all closely related species. The average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values were lower than recommended thresholds of 95 and 70%, respectively. for species delineation. The major isoprenoid quinone of strain 11 K1(T) was ubiquinone (19) and the major cellular fatty acids were C-16:0, summed feature 3 (C-16:1 omega 7c/C-16:1 omega 6c), summed feature 8 (C-18:1 omega 7c/C-18:1 omega 6c) and C-17:0 cyclo. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, aminophospholipid and two unidentified lipids. Based on the results of phenotypic characterization, phylogenetic analysis and genome comparison, strain 11K1(T) represents a novel species of the genus Pseudomonas, for which the name Pseudomonas viciae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 11K1(T) (=GDMCC 1.1743(T)=KACC 21650(T)).

Abstract:A polyphasic taxonomic approach was used to characterize the three bacterial strains (FP830T, FP2034, and FP2262) isolated from the rhizosphere soil of rice, corn, and highland barley in Beijing, Heilongjiang, and Tibet, respectively, in PR China. These strains were Gram-negative, rod-shaped, and have one or two polar flagella. They exhibited optimal growth at 28 °C and pH 7.0 in the presence of 1 % (w/v) NaCl and showed fluorescence under ultraviolet light when cultivated on King's B plates. The FP830T genome size is 6.4 Mbp with a G+C content of 61.0 mol%. FP830T has the potential to promote plant growth by producing various metabolites such as fengycin, pyoverdin, indole-3-acetic acid, and the volatile substance 2,3-butanediol. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that three isolates formed an independent branch, which most closely related to type strains Pseudomonas thivervalensis DSM 13194T and Pseudomonas zanjanensis SWRI12T. The values of average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization between three isolates and closest relatives were not higher than 93.7 and 52.3 %, respectively. The dominant cellular fatty acids were C16 : 0, summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω7c/C16 : 1 ω6c), and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1 ω7c/C18 : 1 ω6c). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, and aminophospholipid. The predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone (Q-9). Based on polyphasic taxonomic analysis, it was concluded that strains FP830T, FP2034, and FP2262 represented a novel species within the genus Pseudomonas, and Pseudomonas beijingensis sp. nov. was proposed for the name of novel species. The type strain is FP830T (=ACCC 62448T=JCM 35689T).

Abstract:Two Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterial strains, 7MK25 T and 6Y81 T , were isolated from forest soil of Dinghushan Biosphere Reserve, Guangdong Province, PR China. Based on the results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain 7MK25 T showed the highest similarity (93.6 %) to Methyloferula stellata AR4 T , followed by Bosea thiooxidans DSM 9653 T (93.3 %). Strain 6Y81 T had the highest similarity of 97.9 % to Lichenibacterium minor RmlP026 T , followed by Lichenibacterium ramalinae RmlP001 T (97.2 %). Phylogenomic analysis using the UBCG and PhyloPhlAn methods consistently showed that strain 7MK25 T formed a sister clade to Boseaceae , while strain 6Y81 T formed an independent clade within the genus Lichenibacterium , both in the order Hyphomicrobiales . The digital DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between strains 7MK25 T , 6Y81 T and their close relatives were in the ranges of 19.1–29.9 % and 72.5–85.5 %, respectively. The major fatty acids of 7MK25 T were summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1 ω7 c /C 18 : 1 ω6 c ), C 19 : 0 cyclo ω8 c , C 16 : 0 and C 17 : 0 cyclo, while those of 6Y81 T were summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1 ω7 c /C 18 : 1 ω6 c ), C 16 : 0 and C 16 : 0 3-OH. Strains 7MK25 T and 6Y81 T took diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylcholine as their dominant polar lipids, and Q-10 as their major respiratory quinone. On the basis of phenotypic and phylogenetic data, strain 7MK25 T is proposed to represent a novel species of a novel genus with name Terrirubrum flagellatum gen. nov., sp. nov., within a novel family Terrirubraceae fam. nov., with 7MK25 T (=KCTC 62738 T =GDMCC 1.1452 T ) as its type strain. Strain 6Y81 T represents a novel species in the genus Lichenibacterium , for which the name Lichenibacterium dinghuense sp. nov. (type strain 6Y81 T =KACC 21 727 T =GDMCC 1.2176 T ) is proposed. Rhodoblastaceae fam. nov. with Rhodoblastus as the type genus is also proposed to solve the non-monophylectic problem of the family Roseiarcaceae .
