Abstract:Abstract Polish coal mines are characterized by severe geological conditions and the co-occurrence of natural hazards. These hazards are associated with methane and dust emissions during mining processes which can provide methane, dust or methane-dust explosions. Besides, there are such natural hazards as gas and rock outbursts, rock bursts, spontaneous combustion of coal and environmental heat load. The mutual influences of various geological conditions, as well as the natural hazards, intensify the increase of the methane explosion hazard. The occurrence of methane explosions in the Polish mining industry between 2013 and 2108 are analyzed. Fatal accidents are compared with similar events in the global mining industry. The methods of preventing the explosion hazard as well as methane emission control in the Polish coal mining sector are presented. Methane hazard prevention should be adapted to levels and other natural hazards, especially those related to ventilation of underground mine. The methods of preventing methane emissions into mine excavations are often contrary to the means of preventing other ventilation-related hazards in the underground mine, e.g. the prevention of spontaneous combustion of coal in the goaf of longwall panel. Therefore, the design of longwall panels should be preceded by a detailed analysis of the results of both methane emission prediction and forecast of other ventilation-related hazards.

Abstract:Working conditions at non-ferrous metallurgical enterprises typically involve exposure to a whole set of harmful chemicals present in occupational air. These chemicals contribute to the development of pathologies in workers, respiratory diseases in particular. Research literature was analyzed using bibliographic databases in order to summarize available information on effects produced by harmful chemicals in workplace air on health of workers employed at mining enterprises. Respiratory diseases such as pneumoconiosis, acute and chronic dust bronchitis prevail among occupational pathologies typical for underground miners. Acute and chronic bronchitis prevail among respiratory diseases as health disorders resulting in temporary disability of miners dealing with non-ferrous metal mining. Huge amounts of dust appear in occupational air at mining enterprises due to drilling, blasting and ore crushing. Priority chemicals found in workplace air in mining industry include several carcinogens such as nickel, lead, formaldehyde, cadmium, and benzo(a)pyrene. There is a unidirectional effect produced by sulfur dioxide, nickel, nitrogen oxides, acrolein, formaldehyde, cadmium, and particular matter on the respiratory organs. The nervous system can be affected by manganese, lead, and selenium; the blood, by nickel, lead, and carbon oxide; the cardiovascular system, by carbon oxide and selenium. Working conditions of underground miners in non-ferrous metallurgy involve intensive exposure to chemicals in occupational air, which create health risks of occupational respiratory diseases and malignant tumors. Diseases of the nervous, immune, cardiovascular systems and the blood are also possible. When planning a set of preventive activities, it is advisable to identify groups of work-related diseases caused, among other things, by a specific chemical factor.

Abstract:Mining is one of the oldest professions in history. Along with the development of human life, mines also give direction to civilization and the economy. Mining activities carry various risks in terms of occupational health and safety (OHS). These risks can be examined under the main headings of work accidents and occupational diseases. As a result, thousands of workers face illness and death every year. Additionally, economic losses occur as a result of production interruption and stopping. Despite all the efforts to reduce mining accidents, statistics show that underground mining is one of the riskiest among all working industries. It is seen that the physical risk factors encountered in the mining sector line are remarkable in terms of risk factors. Physical risk factors that may be encountered in mines are dust, noise, vibration, lighting problems, and thermal conditions. It is essential to take measures to assess these risks and ensure the comfort of employees where each physical risk factor needs to be examined separately. In this study, physical risks being frequently encountered in underground coal mines are taken into account with recommendations for the risks.

Abstract:Introduction : The workplace's health hazard remains a significant concern to workers in the mining industry, where miners are continually exposed to various kinds of exposure sources. Method : First, the determinants of miners' health were systematically extracted from 259 publications, comprising chemical, physical, ergonomic, and psychosocial stressors, vulnerability factors, and common health outcomes. Then, 16 meta-analyses were performed to ascertain the epidemiological evidence for associations between four stressors and three health outcomes. The seven top contributing factors affecting miners' health were identified through 166 available prospective studies. Finally, based on the classic and domestic measurement scales, a cross-sectional survey of 559 Chinese miners was conducted to determine the core psychosocial predictors. In addition to the traditional mechanisms, complex interactive networks among the antecedents and consequences and the reversed effects of consequences were also obtained, where 379 strong association rules were yielded via the Apriori algorithm. Results : The results showed that occupational dust, NO 2 , heavy metals, heat, vibration, awkward posture, and job stress are significant risk factors associated with individuals' health conditions. Psychological capital, coping style, job demand, social support, organizational support, justice, and culture are core psychosocial predictors of miners. Conclusions : This study presents a case for identifying the most significant occupational risk factors related to individuals' health, which could be extended and applied to other industries, as working populations around the world are suffering from various chemical, physical, ergonomic, and psychosocial stressors. Practical Applications : Identifying the significant occupational risk factors affecting workers' health conditions is essential for comprehensive occupational health risk assessment and management. Therefore, this study could be important for health management in mines and other industries.

Abstract:This article addresses issues of air pollutant emissions by Polish mining industry leaders in the light of corporate social responsibility policy: Kombinat Gorniczo-Hutniczy Miedzi Polska Miedź S.A. (KGHM), Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. (PGE). The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative regulates business activities at the level of environmental and social responsibility. Given the location of the “emission activities”, the level of pollutants (SO x , NO x , PM x ) generated by selected entities in the capital group over the years has been analysed. The aim of the article is to disclose relevant data on the emission reduction of entities as an expression of the actions of taking care of the environment and social protection. Evaluation of the extractive industry in the context of only interventions in the environment without emphasizing the economic and social significance is biased. Therefore, the level of emissivity of the whole economy has been verified against the background of the European Union. The article highlights the importance of coal power in two contexts: the production of electricity based on that fuel in controlled industrial installations and the uncontrolled use of coal in the municipal economy as a problem with a greater nuisance and impact on the quality of inhaled air. Analyses have shown that the widely understood mining industry is still a source of pollution, but power plants and processing plants have significantly reduced the volume of emissions over the years.

Abstract:Occupational exposure to carcinogenic respirable crystalline silica and noise requires a deeper understanding and an assessment of the possible health risks caused by their combined action. Data on individual exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and occupational noise (ON) was collected among 44 open-pit miners. The study group was divided into two groups according to the job tasks performed. The individual exposure, exceeding of maximum admissible concentration/intensity, and predicted hearing thresholds (HTs) (according to ISO 1999:2013) were compared between the groups directly participating in the technological process (group 1; N = 23) and performing auxiliary, supervising, or laboratory activities (group 2; N = 21). All the analysed indices were significantly higher for group 1; therefore, the job category may predict ON and RCS exposure among open-pit miners. A statistically significant relationship (rs = 0.66, p 25 dB) up to 74% and 4.4% (in the case of groups 1 and 2, respectively). Further studies are needed before conclusions concerning the effects of co-exposure to ON and RCS on open-pit miners can be made.

Defining the Primary Work Stress Factors of Chinese Coal Miners-A Mixed-Methods Study

Abstract:Background: Studies have indicated that coal miners in China have higher levels of perceived job stress. However, few studies have investigated the work stress structure of coal miners. Objective: Our study focused on the work stress of coal miners in China, with a primary aim to determine the work stress structure of coal miners in China using a mixed-methods approach. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were performed with thirty-three people (team leaders and frontline coal miners) conducted with participants from various state-owned large- and medium-sized coal mines in China. Grounded theory was used to construct an initial model for the concept of coal miners' work stress. Using the results of this initial survey and findings in the existing literature, we then constructed a preliminary questionnaire regarding coal miners' work stress and administered the questionnaire to 900 coal miners in the Shaanxi, Henan, Inner Mongolia, and Gansu provinces. Results: The results show that the work stress structure for coal miners differs from that for other occupational types in China, due to differences in the Chinese culture and foreign cultural influences. We revised our questionnaire based on these considerations and administered a new survey to the frontline production workers in coal mines. The preliminary questionnaires were revised and analyzed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, resulting in a final formal model for work stress, which was supported by content and structural validity. Conclusion: In this research, we used the framework of grounded theory to conduct an empirical analysis of the structure model of coal miners' work stress. The findings support that the primary work stress factors of Chinese coal miners included the stress of the work environment, job responsibility, interpersonal relationships, career development, the family environment, and organizational systems. Coal enterprises should therefore always take these factors into consideration when developing and implementing safety management policies aimed at to improve the occupational health status of coal miners.
[Cardiac deaths in hard coal-mining industry as an indicator of efficiency of occupational medicine services]

Abstract:Deaths in hard-coal mining industry can be divided into: accidental (usually of a single character) and non-accidental-intentional (homicide, suicide) and natural (with a pathological background, 'without external factors'). The main cause of natural deaths is myocardial infarction (MI). Its risk is increased by environmental factors in working place, unhealthy life style, cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking, which is often an attempt at coping with chronic stress, so proper prevention, qualification and periodic examination of workers is indispensable. The aim of the study is to analyze cases of miners' cardiac deaths investigated in Department of Forensic Medicine in Katowice and the number of natural deaths in hard-coal mines in the years 1999-2010. There were 298 accidental and 122 natural deaths, the latter showing an increasing tendency in the years 2002-2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010. Natural deaths--in 95% sudden cardiac deaths--constituted 29% of all deaths in hard-coal mining industry. Autopsies supplemented by histopathological investigations often revealed advanced atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease, which should disqualify a candidate from working underground. A high number of natural deaths in hard-coal mining industry and morphological post mortem assessment of victims indicate insufficiency of occupational medicine services. We propose an improvement of its quality and a higher frequency of periodic examinations of workers (especially in groups with the highest risk of MI), as well as courses of Basic Life Support (BLS). Forensic medicine may be socially useful in assessing the efficiency of occupational medicine services in mining industry.
Perceived working conditions and employee performance in the coal mining sector of China: a job demands-resources perspective

Abstract:Purpose This paper aims to investigate how perceived working conditions affect employee performance, including safety compliance and task performance, through employee well-being (i.e. job satisfaction) in the context of the coal mining sector in China. Design/methodology/approach This paper uses the job demands-resources model to test the relationships between working conditions, including job demands (work pressure as a challenge demand and perceived risks and hazards in the workplace and ineffectiveness of the safety system as hindrance demands), job resources (interpersonal harmony), job satisfaction and performance. This study adopts a two-wave design with a three-month lag to reduce possible common method bias. Findings Employees who experienced high level of challenge demands, e.g. time pressure workload, reported higher levels of task performance, and this positive relationship seemed to be robust. There is a direct effect of perceived ineffectiveness of the safety system on task performance, while the relationship between perceived risks and hazards and task performance was fully mediated by job satisfaction. Challenge demands, i.e. work pressure, did not impact much on employees' well-being, and thus job satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between work pressure and performance. Perceived ineffectiveness of the safety system was negatively associated with safety compliance. This result is not surprising since a lack of effective safety system reflects management's ignorance of workplace safety, which demotivates employees to enact safe behaviors. In contrast, the presence and implementation of an effective safety system would be interpreted by employees as management exhibiting a high level of commitment. Work pressure was positively not negatively related to safety compliance. One possible explanation for this finding is that the effects of work pressure on safety compliance behaviors might be dependent on contextual factors such as safety climate. Interpersonal harmony moderated the relationships between work pressure and employee performance (both safety compliance and task performance) and the relationship between perceived risks and hazards and task performance, but the role of interpersonal harmony appeared more complex. There was no significant correlation between challenging job demands and individual employee performance when there were higher levels of interpersonal harmony. The relationship between perceived risks and hazards, a hindrance job demand and task performance became positive as interpersonal harmony increased but negative as interpersonal harmony decreased. Originality/value This paper provides a robust integrative theoretical framework that better explains the various types of job demands and job resources in the working environment of coal mining sector in China and their relationships to employee performance. The findings also offer valuable guidance for managers trying to identify effective ways to enhance employee performance and safety in the workplace.

Abstract:Indoor and Built Environment, Ahead of Print. Workers in hot underground coal mines could develop heat-related illnesses, (especially skin, digestion and kidney problems), as compared to workers in non-hot mines. This study found severity of this situation by comparing heat illness symptoms, core body and skin temperature and kidney malfunctioning amongst workers of both types of mines. Ingestible thermometric pills (sending readings to Sensor Electronic Module every 15 s), skin temperature probes (connected to various body parts and sending readings to loggers) and laboratory analysis of pre- and post-shift samples of blood and urine, US-NIOSH-HETA-2012 sheet to survey symptoms, were used to collect data from 50 workers (25 from five hot mines (G1) and 25 from five non-hot mines (G2)). Two mine groups showed significant differences (p-value <.001) regarding wet-bulb globe temperature, dry-bulb temperature and relative humidity. The highest core body temperature was 38.8°C in G1 and 37.9°C in G2. In intra-group comparison for kidney functioning, post-shift samples showed haematocrit (%) was reduced to 43.6 ± 2.1 from 45.4 ± 1.4 in G1 and to 44.0 ± 2.9 from 45.0 ± 0.75 in G2, and estimated glomerular filtration rate was reduced from 100 ± 19 to 94 ± 0 mL/min/1.72 m2 in G1 and to 113 ± 15 from 115 ± 19a in G2 workers. The comparison showed hot mines could induce heat-related illnesses which would necessitate intervention to reduce exposure.

Abstract:The present study aims to explore the relationship between work–family conflict and unsafe behavior among underground coal miners, testing the mediating role of work engagement in this relationship. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Shanxi Province, China from June to August 2020. A total of 580 front-line miners were recruited for this study. Structural equation modeling was used to explore the mechanisms of work–family conflict on unsafe behavior. Findings revealed that time-based conflict, strain-based conflict and behavior-based conflict were positively related to unsafe behavior, and work engagement mediated the relationships between work–family conflict and unsafe behavior. Managers should alleviate miners' work–family conflict, providing effective organizational support to improve the miner's work engagement, and thus reduce their unsafe behavior.

Abstract:The substrates inositol, rhamnose, d-tartrate and m-tartrate used in fermentation tests with 338 cultures of Salmonella paratyphi B differentiated strains in some phage types to give information that could be used in epidemiological investigations. Xylose in Bitter's medium, the fifth substrate by which 13 of a potential 32 biotypes were identified, differentiated few cultures with the negative character. The possession of a specific type of outer-membrane protein receptor for colicin M or bacteriophage ES18 and the particular type of ribosomal ribonucleic acid present, defined three groups among the phage-typed and biotyped cultures. The possibility that the serotype S. paratyphi B contains clones of different phylogenetic origin and the consequent implications for nomenclature are discussed.
Assessment of Workers’ Perception of Occupational Hazards at Nampundwe Mine in Zambia

Abstract:Background: The extent to which Mineworkers perceive hazards at the workplace is important to avoid Mine accidents and thus prevent damage to health, life, and property. However, Mine accidents have increased despite the large investments in health and safety training programs. Methods: The study used a mixed-method approach to collect data. The study comprised 205 Workers in total, consisting of 8 Managers, 18 Supervisors, 24 Machine Operators, 80 General Miners, and 75 Contractors. These respondents were chosen by using a purposive simplifying procedure. The study used semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document reviews in the collection of data. Results: Study findings revealed that there was a significantly high impact of occupational health hazards on monthly income towards Contractors (p < 0.001, OR = 0.99, CI = 0.997-0.998). The study findings further reported that Workers at Nampundwe Mine have good to fair knowledge of occupational hazards. Supervisors appeared to have the highest level of awareness among the respondents, fair (38.97%), and good (54.61%). The Contractors had the lowest level of awareness and these were ranked as either fair (37, 05%) or good (18.65%). It has also revealed that the major causes of accidents are contravening of Safety Rules (38.11%) Falling from Heights (37.52%), Trackless Vehicles (8%), Rock Falling (5.4%), Morning Shifts (4.01%) and Electricity Shocks (6.91%) Further, the results reported that the major causes of accidents are falling from heights recorded a (37.52%) followed by trackless vehicles at (25.00% ), rock falling standing at (16.06%), electricity shock (12.58%), explosion (7.10%), and least flooding at (1.74 %). Additionally, respondents are trained on how to respond to an emergency. And are very much aware of the health and safety measures and all standard operation procedures but rarely follow them when executing tasks. Conclusions: Our result found Workers have good to fair knowledge of occupational hazards. Supervisors appeared to have the highest level of awareness among the respondents.

Association of psychological symptoms with job burnout and occupational stress among coal miners in Xinjiang, China: A cross-sectional study

Abstract:Objective: The study aimed to investigate the influencing factors of psychological symptoms in relation to job burnout and occupational stress among coal miners in Xinjiang, so as to provide data support for enterprises in an effort to help them identify internal psychological risk factors and improve the mental health of coal miners. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out. A total of 12 coal mines were selected using the stratified cluster random sampling method and 4,109 coal miners were investigated by means of online electronic questionnaires. The Symptoms Check List-90 (SCL-90), Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory (CMBI), and Job Demand-Control (JDC) model were respectively used to measure the status of psychological symptoms, job burnout, and occupational stress among coal miners. The mediation analysis was performed through structural equation modeling (SEM) by using Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS). Results: The prevalence of psychological symptoms was higher in the occupational stress group than in the non-occupational stress group, and increased with job burnout ( P < 0.05). The multivariate logistic regression analysis results showed that mild ( OR = 1.401, 95% CL : 1.165, 1.685), moderate ( OR = 2.190, 95% CL : 1.795, 2.672), or severe levels of burnout ( OR = 6.102, 95% CL : 3.481, 10.694) and occupational stress ( OR = 1.462, 95% CL : 1.272, 1.679) were risk factors for psychological symptoms in coal miners. The results of structural equation modeling indicated that occupational stress ( β = 0.11, P = 0.002) and job burnout ( β = 0.46, P = 0.002) had significant positive direct effects on psychological symptoms, and job burnout was an intermediate variable between occupational stress and psychological symptoms. Conclusion: High levels of job burnout and occupational stress were risk factors for psychological symptoms. Both occupational stress and job burnout had direct effects on psychological symptoms, and occupational stress could also have an indirect effect on coal miners' psychological symptoms through the intermediate variable of job burnout.

Abstract:In the confined spaces of underground mines, the exposure of over 10,000 miners in the U.S. to diesel exhaust and diesel particulate matter (DPM) is an occupational inevitability, particularly in metal and nonmetal mineral extraction. These workers routinely operate amidst diesel-powered equipment, often outdated and highly polluting, extracting resources such as limestone, gold, and salt. The acute health effects of such exposure are significant, leading to symptoms like headaches and flu-like conditions, with the impact being more pronounced in these closed work environments. This review scrutinizes DPM's hazard in the mining sector, consolidating the extant knowledge and exploring ongoing research. It encapsulates our understanding of DPM's physicochemical properties, existing sampling methods, health ramifications, and mitigation technologies. Moreover, it underscores the necessity for further study in areas such as the evolution of DPM's physicochemical attributes, from its genesis at high-pressure, high-temperature conditions within diesel engines to its emission into the mine atmosphere. A key research gap is the intricate interaction of DPM with specific characteristics of the mine environment—such as relative humidity, ambient temperature, the presence of other mineral dust, and the dynamics of ventilation air. These factors can significantly alter the physicochemical profile of DPM, influencing both its in-mine transport and its deposition behavior. Consequently, this can affect the respiratory health of miners, modifying the toxicity and the respiratory deposition of DPM particles. Identified research imperatives include (1) the advancement of instrumentation for accurate number measurement of DPM to replace or supplement traditional gravimetric methods; (2) the development of long-lasting, cost-effective control technologies tailored for the mining industry; (3) an in-depth investigation of DPM interactions within the unique mine microclimate, considering the critical components like humidity and other aerosols; and (4) understanding the differential impact of DPM in mining compared to other industries, informing the creation of mining-specific health and safety protocols. Abstract:The requirements imposed by the subjects of the mining enterprise to the occupational safety employees are becoming tougher. To comply with them, further reduction of the risk of injury is required based on the organizational and technical solutions that will provide sufficient protection for the personnel involved in the production process. Production process of the mining enterprise is a combination of labor and technological processes through the implementation of an organizational and managerial process. The main factors affecting occupational safety at the mining enterprise are the hazardous factors of the production environment (technical, technological, mining-geological and natural-climatic, human behavior), and the factors that determine human behavior (organizational and managerial, socio-economic, psycho-physiological, motivational and qualifying). Injury occurs when a person connects with the energy of a hazardous factor, the power of which exceeds his protective ability. To prevent such a connection, it is required to organize the interaction of personnel in such a way that, in addition to the adequate use of protective equipment, provide appropriate control and safety net of employees, their presence at a safe distance from the hazardous zone or timely removal from it. Interaction of the personnel is determined and formed on the basis of an assessment of the state of the following influencing factors: motivation, qualifications and psycho-physiological state of employees or groups of employees, organizational and management system, and socio-economic environment. Using the proposed approach allows to identify hazards; organize groups of employees in such a way as to adequately apply the methods of protection; develop and take measures to ensure a sufficient level of occupational safety.
The Determination of Radon/Thoron Exhalation Rate in an Underground Coal Mine-Preliminary Results

Abstract:The objective of this work was to perform a series of measurements of radon and thoron exhalation in the underground workings of an experimental coal mine. In the years 2012-2015, experiments on underground coal gasification were carried out in a coal mine, which caused, among other effects, damage to rock mass. Afterward, periodic increases in the concentration of potential alpha energy (PAEC) of radon decay products in the air were found, which could pose a hazard to miners. The question posed was whether the gasification experiment resulted in the increased migration of radon and thoron. If so, did it increase the radiation hazard to miners? The adaptation of the existing instrumentation to the specific conditions was conducted, and a series of measurements were made. It was found that the measured values of radon and thoron exhalation rates ranged from 3.0 up to 38 Bq·m-2·h-1 for radon and from 500 up to 2000 Bq·m-2·h-1 for thoron.
Negative emotional states and risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases in coal industry workers with occupational pathology

Abstract:Introduction. Due to difficult working conditions, coal industry workers may develop negative emotional states that can increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. The relationship of negative emotions with the frequency of risk factors in coal industry workers has not been studied enough, while its early determination will allow the elaboration of preventive and psycho-corrective measures. The aim was to study the relationship of negative emotional states with the frequency of risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases in coal industry workers with occupational pathology. Materials and methods. Using the DS14 (negative affectivity, social suppression) and Spielberger-Khanin (personal anxiety, situational anxiety) questionnaires we examined 196 miners with occupational diseases (dust lung pathology, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, vibration disease). Results. We identified a high frequency of negative affectivity (44.7% of the subjects), social suppression (69%), personal anxiety (35%), and situational anxiety (20%); the relationship between negative emotional states and risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases was determined. We revealed the relationship between negative emotional states and risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, such as smoking, arterial hypertension, low physical activity, the presence of prolonged stress and severe perception of stress. A high level of personal anxiety is most closely related to the frequency of such risk factors as severe perception of stress, the presence of prolonged stress, arterial hypertension, and low physical activity. Limitations. The study is limited to a sample of 196 miners with occupational diseases, surveyed using the DS14 and Spielberger-Khanin questionnaires. Conclusions. A high level of negative emotional states, including personal anxiety, was revealed among coal industry workers with occupational diseases, which to the greatest extent determines the frequency of risk factors for the development of cardiovascular pathology. An early determination of the relationship between negative emotional states and the frequency of risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases in this group of workers will make it possible to create a program of preventive and psycho-corrective measures. Ethics. The study was conducted in compliance with the ethical principles of medical researches involving humans in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association of the latest revision.

Abstract:The mining industry is distinguished from other professions by being a dangerous profession with heavy working conditions. Due to the fact that the employee load and the hazards are high in parallel, it is very important in this sector to determine the hazards in advance and to create risk analyzes. In order to prevent mining accidents by ensuring the occupational health and safety of the employees, the risks should be determined and the precautions to be taken by risk analysis and assessment should be determined. In this study, taking into account the mine accidents in two coal mines, the measures taken to ensure occupational safety and the precautions taken to prevent explosion and firepit accidents were evaluated by applying a survey to the mine workers. When the survey results are evaluated, it has been determined that there is not sufficient occupational safety in the mining workplaces, that the employees do not have sufficient knowledge and training about the work they do, that the measurement and results of the firedamp in the mine sites are not in accordance with the occupational safety regulations.
