Abstract:ABSTRACT Sequestration of Plasmodium falciparum parasites within the placenta often leads to an accumulation of macrophages within the intervillous space and increased production of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), a cytokine associated with placental pathology and poor pregnancy outcomes. P. falciparum glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors have been shown to be the major parasite component that induces TNF-α production by monocytes and macrophages. Antibodies against P. falciparum GPI (anti-PfGPI), however, can inhibit the induction of TNF-α and inflammation. Thus, the study was undertaken to determine whether anti-PfGPI antibodies down-regulate inflammatory-type changes in the placentas of women with malaria. Anti-PfGPI immunoglobulin M (IgM) and IgG levels were measured in 380 pregnant women with or without placental malaria, including those who delivered prematurely and at term. Results showed that anti-PfGPI antibody levels increased with gravidity and age and that malaria infection boosted anti-PfGPI antibodies in pregnant women. However, no association was found between anti-PfGPI antibodies and placental TNF-α levels or the presence of acute or chronic placental malaria. Furthermore, anti-PfGPI antibody levels were similar in women with preterm and full-term deliveries and were not associated with an increase in infant birth weight. Thus, these results fail to support a strong role for anti-PfGPI antibodies in the prevention of chronic placental malaria infections and malaria-associated poor birth outcomes.

Abstract:Antioxidants are molecules that delay or inhibit the oxidation of other molecules. Its use significantly increased in recent years in the diet of people. Natural antioxidants are replacing the use of synthetic antioxidant ingredients due to their safety, nutritional, and therapeutic values. Hydrolyzed collagen (HC) is a popular ingredient considered to be an antioxidant. This low molecular weight protein has been widely utilized due to its excellent biocompatibility, easy biodegradability, and weak antigenicity. It is a safe cosmetic biomaterial with good moisturizing properties on the skin. The antioxidant properties of HC are conditioned to the size of the molecule: the lower the molecular weight of peptides, the greater the ability to donate an electron or hydrogen to stabilize radicals. The antioxidant capacity of HC is mostly due to the presence of hydrophobic amino acids in the peptide. The exact mechanism of peptides acting as antioxidants is not clearly known but some aromatic amino acids and histidine are reported to play an important role in the antioxidant activity. Oral ingestion of HC increases the levels of collagen-derived peptides in the blood torrent and improves the skin properties such as elasticity, skin moisture, and transepidermal water loss. Additionally, daily intakes of HC protect the skin against UV melasma, enhances the fibroblast production and extracellular matrix of the skin. HC has been identified as a safe cosmetic ingredient for topical formulations with good moisturizing properties at the stratum corneum layer of the skin. It reduces the effects of skin aging (dryness, laxity, and wrinkles). The use of HC as a principal ingredient in safe formulations for skin protection was reviewed and compared when it is used by topical and/or oral administration.

Antioxidant and functional properties of cowhide collagen peptides

Abstract:In the present study, antioxidant activities and functional properties of cowhide collagen antioxidant peptides (CCAPs) with different molecular weight (MW) were investigated. The optimum preparation conditions of CCAPs were hydrolysis time of 1.53 hr, temperature of 54.9 °C, pH 7.38, and neutral enzyme to trypsin ratio of 0.048 g: 0.016 g according to single factor test and response surface methodology (RSM). Three fractions (CCAP-I, CCAP-II, and CCAP-III) were obtained by ultrafiltration and lyophilization. Antioxidant activities revealed that CCAP-III had high reducing power activity (0.323 ± 0.035) and scavenging effect on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals (64.30 ± 5.99%), 2,2-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) radicals (75.25 ± 3.14%), and hydroxyl radicals (68.26 ± 6.74%) compared to the other fractions. In addition, LC-MS/MS analysis showed that Ala-Gly-Glu-Arg, Gly-Ile-Ala-Gly-Glu-Arg, Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-Pro-Arg, Gly-Val-Val-Gly-Pro-Glu-Gly-Ala-Arg and Gly-Phe-Ser-Gly-Leu-Asp-Gly-Ala-Lys were the major peptides of CCAP-III. CCAP-III showed good hygroscopicity (HYG), water holding capacity (WHC), and oil holding capacity (OHC) when compared with CCAP-I and CCAP-II. However, CCAP-II has great emulsifying properties, and CCAP-I has excellent foaming properties. Therefore, CCAPs can be used as a promising source of functional peptides with antioxidant properties. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: This study demonstrated the peptides of cowhide collagen has superior antioxidant and functional properties. This study provided a scientific basis for the preparation of antioxidant peptides from cowhide collagen.

Abstract:Hydrolyzed collagen (HC) is a group of peptides with low molecular weight (3–6 KDa) that can be obtained by enzymatic action in acid or alkaline media at a specific incubation temperature. HC can be extracted from different sources such as bovine or porcine. These sources have presented health limitations in the last years. Recently research has shown good properties of the HC found in skin, scale, and bones from marine sources. Type and source of extraction are the main factors that affect HC properties, such as molecular weight of the peptide chain, solubility, and functional activity. HC is widely used in several industries including food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, biomedical, and leather industries. The present review presents the different types of HC, sources of extraction, and their applications as a biomaterial.

Preparation and identification of novel antioxidant peptides from collagen hydrolysate of sheep hoof assisted by ultrasound

Abstract:In this study, different ultrasound-assisted modes [ultrasonic simultaneous (US) and ultrasonic preconditioning (UP)] of synergistic enzymatic hydrolysis were used to prepare bioactive peptides of sheep hoof collagen. The 2, 2-diphenyl - 1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, 2,2 '-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging capacity and metal chelating capacity of sheep's hoof collagen antioxidant peptides (SCPs) (at 1 mg/mL) prepared at 20 min of treatment in US treatment mode (US-20) were 48.56 ± 0.68 %, 51.97 ± 1.15 % and 65.58 ± 1.36 %, respectively, which were higher compared with the control and UP groups. Using LC-MS/MS analysis, 9336, 11,527, and 11,909 peptide sequences were identified from collagen hydrolysate by C, UP-20, and US-20, respectively. The peptides ACEDAPPSAAHFR and FGFEVGPACFLG with high bioactivity were screened using computer analysis. Molecular docking results revealed that hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions between the two peptide sequences with DPPH and ABTS radicals may be responsible for their antioxidant properties. Therefore, we have optimized the extraction of bioactive peptides from sheep hoof collagen using ultrasound-assisted enzymatic hydrolysis, which is helpful for the high-value utilisation of sheep hoof by-products and the extraction of foodborne antioxidant peptides.

Abstract:Abattoirs dispose of sheepskins as solid waste due to low price and poor demand for sheepskin leather. In principle, as an alternative to being disposed of in landfill, sheepskins can serve as a source of the protein collagen or the hydrolysis product, gelatin. In this research, sheepskins collected from abattoirs were used as a source of collagen. Three extraction methods were compared: acid extraction, acid with enzymes, and alkali extraction. The extracted material was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The collagen and gelatin extraction yield ranged from 3.1% to 4.8% with the product purity determined by hydroxyproline, ranging from 7.8% for the alkali process to 59% and 68% for the acid and acid-enzyme processes. SDS PAGE showed that the acid process produced fragments with molecular weights in the range 100 to >250 kDa, while acid–enzyme resulted in smaller fragments, below 30 kDa. The FTIR region of the amide I band at 1800–1550 cm−1, which was used as an indicator of the collagen and gelatin content, showed that the gelatin dominated in the acid extracts, and the alkaline extract contained a large portion of keratin. SAXS was found to be a sensitive method for showing the presence of intact collagen fibrils in materials from all of the extraction methods, albeit at low concentrations. Herein, sheepskin is shown to be a useful source for collagen–gelatin material of varying molecular weights.

Abstract:The present study was focused on the preparation and characterization of the antioxidant peptides by microwave-assisted enzymatic hydrolysis of collagen from sea cucumber Acaudina molpadioides (ASC-Am) obtained from Zhejiang Province in China. The results exhibited the effects of microwave irradiation on hydrolysis of ASC-Am with different protease. Neutrase was selected from the four common proteases (papain, pepsin, trypsin, and neutrase) based on the highest content and DPPH scavenging activity of hydrolysate Fa (Molecular weight < 1 kDa). The content and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity of Fa obtained by hydrolysis of neutrase increased by 100% and 109% respectively at a microwave power of 300 W compared with no microwave irradiation. Five subfractions were obtained after performing the gel filtration chromatography, and the Fa.2 exhibited the highest DPPH scavenging activity. The amino acid analysis showed that the contents of Glutamic acid, Alanine, Tyrosine, and Phenylalanine in fraction Fa.2 increased significantly, but an obvious decrease in the content of Glycine was observed compared to Fa. Four peptides (Fa.2-A, Fa.2-B, Fa.2-C, and Fa.2-D) were purified from Fa.2 by high performance liquid chromatography, and Fa.2-C showed the highest DPPH scavenging activity. The sequence of Fa.2-C was identified as Phenylalanine-Leucine- Alanine-Proline with a half elimination ratio (EC50) of 0.385 mg/mL. The antioxidant activity of Fa.2-C was probably attributed to the small molecular sizes and the presence of hydrophobic amino acid residues in its sequence. This report provided a promising method for the preparation of antioxidant peptides from collagen for food and medicinal purposes.

Since the world's first C-band GaN amplifier with 140W output power was reported in IMS2004, Mitsubishi Electric has developed many GaN high power amplifiers and commercialized some GaN devices. Also those GaN devices have been applied to solid state weather radar systems, satellite communication systems, and microwave power transmission systems etc. Brief introduction of such activities will be given. Finally, some possible application fields for GaN devices will be discussed.

Abstract:Collagen has a great demand and fish skin is a safe alternative source of collagen. Pterygoplichthys pardalis is an endemic, freshwater fish with no economic benefit. The study was conducted to extract crude collagen from the skin of P. pardalis using a simple method and identify the functional properties of its hydrolysates. Acid and pepsin soluble collagens were extracted from skin using citric acid (CA) and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA). Selected crude collagens were hydrolysed using pepsin, protease and trypsin enzymes (1:100). Extracted crude collagens and best hydrolysates were selected using 8 and 15% SDS-PAGE. Hydrolysates were analysed for antioxidant, Fe(II) chelating and antibacterial activities. CA treatment showed significantly (P 0.05) different. Hydrolysates showed significantly (P<0.05) higher functional properties than crude collagen in both treatments. These results conclude that collagen hydrolysates from P. pardalis have good antioxidant, metal chelating and antibacterial properties.

Abstract:Background Collagen hydrolysates (CH) in functional foods and supplements are dietary sources of amino acids (AAs) and di-and tripeptides linked to various health benefits. This study aimed to investigate the single-dose bioavailability of skin- and hide-derived CH from fish, porcine and bovine origin with different molecular weights (bovine 2,000 and 5,000 Da). Methods A randomized, double-blind crossover clinical study was performed with healthy volunteers assessing the plasma concentration of free and peptide-bound hydroxyproline (Hyp) as well as selected peptides reported to be abundantly present in collagen. Results The pharmacokinetic endpoints demonstrated comparable uptake of free Hyp from all CH. A higher amount of total compared to free Hyp indicated the uptake of substantial amounts of Hyp-containing di- or tripeptides. Conclusion Independently of source and molecular weight, all CH yielded relevant plasma concentrations of the investigated metabolites. Larger studies are needed to estimate an ideal level of selected circulating metabolites needed to trigger distinct physiological reactions in target tissues.

Abstract:In the current study, the relationships between functional properties and average molecular weight (AMW) of collagen hydrolysates from Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorous niphonius) skin were researched. Seven hydrolysate fractions (5.04 ≤ AMW ≤ 47.82 kDa) from collagen of Spanish mackerel skin were obtained through the processes of acid extraction, proteolysis, and fractionation using gel filtration chromatography. The physicochemical properties of the collagen hydrolysate fractions were studied by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), gel filtration chromatography, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results indicated that there was an inverse relationship between the antioxidant activities and the logarithm of the AMW of the hydrolysate fractions in the tested AMW range. However, the reduction of AMW significantly enhanced the solubility of the hydrolysate fractions, and a similar AMW decrease of the hydrolysate fractions negatively affected the emulsifying and foaming capacities. This presented as a positive correlation between the logarithm of AMW and emulsion stability index, emulsifying activity index, foam stability, and foam capacity. Therefore, these collagen hydrolysates with excellent antioxidant activities or good functionalities as emulsifiers could be obtained by controlling the effect of the digestion process on the AMW of the resultant hydrolysates.

Abstract:The study aimed to optimize hydrolysis conditions and isolate and identify bioactive peptides with anti-skin aging effects from Acheta domesticus (house cricket). A. domesticus proteins underwent hydrolysis using Alcalase® and optimized conditions using response surface methodology through a face-centered central composite design. Variable controls (enzyme–substrate concentration (E/S), time, and temperature) were assessed for their impact on activities against collagenase, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH●), and degree of hydrolysis of protein hydrolysate (PH). PH was also investigated for composition, anti-skin aging, and anti-inflammatory effects. Amino acid sequences with potent anti-skin aging activity were isolated and identified using ultrafiltration, gel filtration chromatography, and liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry, employing de novo sequencing. Optimal conditions for producing PH with maximum anti-skin aging activity were an E/S concentration of 2.1% (w/w), 227 min, and 61.5 °C. Glutamic acid was a predominant amino acid and PH exhibited a molecular weight below 15 kDa. Additionally, PH displayed significant activities against collagenase, hyaluronidase, DPPH●, lipid peroxidation, and NF-κB-mediated inflammation (p < 0.05). Three novel anti-skin aging peptides were identified—Ala-Val-Thr-Lys-Ala-Asp-Pro-Tyr-Thr-Asp-Gln, Thr-Val-Met-Glu-Leu-Asn-Asp-Leu-Val-Lys-Ala-Phe, and Val-Pro-Leu-Leu-Glu-Pro-Trp—exhibiting the most potent collagenase and DPPH● inhibition. Therefore, this study proposed that PH, produced with Alcalase® under optimal conditions, emerges as a promising substance with potent anti-skin aging activity for the cosmeceutical industry.

Abstract:Antler ossified tissue has been widely used for the extraction of bioactive peptides. In this study, collagen was prepared from antler ossified tissue via acetic acid and pepsin. Five different proteases were used to hydrolyze the collagen and the hydrolysate treated by neutrase (collagen peptide named ACP) showed the highest DPPH radical clearance rate. The extraction process of ACP was optimized by response surface methodology, and the optimal conditions were as follows: a temperature of 52°C, a pH of 6.1, and an enzyme concentration of 3200 U/g, which resulted in the maximum DPPH clearance rate of 74.41 ± 0.48%. The peptides (ACP-3) with the strongest antioxidant activity were obtained after isolation and purification, and its DPPH free radical clearance rate was 90.58 ± 1.27%; at the same time, it exhibited good scavenging activity for ABTS, hydroxyl radical, and superoxide anion radical. The study investigated the protective effect of ACP-3 on oxidative damage in HaCaT cells. The findings revealed that all groups that received ACP-3 pretreatment exhibited increased activities of SOD, GSH-Px, and CAT compared to the model group. Furthermore, ACP-3 pretreatment reduced the levels of ROS and MDA in HaCaT cells subjected to H2O2-induced oxidative damage. These results suggest that collagen peptides derived from deer antler ossified tissue can effectively mitigate the oxidative damage caused by H2O2 in HaCaT cells, thereby providing a foundation for the utilization of collagen peptides in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Abstract:A collagen was isolated from squid skin, a processing waste product. The biofunctional activities of enzymatic squid skin collagen hydrolysates were determined to produce a value-added material. Five low-molecular-mass hydrolysate fractions, F1 (>30 kD), F2 (10-30 kD), F3 (3-10 kD), F4 (1-3 kD), and F5 (<1 kD), were manufactured from its enzymatic hydrolysate by ultrafiltration. Fraction F3 had the strongest antihyaluronidase inhibitory activity. Gly, Val, and Pro were major amino acids in F3, while Met, Tyr, and His were minor ones. The molecular mass of F3 was in the range of 3.4 to 10 kD. F3 exhibited copper chelating ability in a concentration-dependent manner. The ferrous chelating ability of F3 was almost 50% at 200 µg/mL. F3 also inhibited tyrosinase activity by 39.65% at 1 mg/mL. Furthermore, F3 had stronger hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (IC50 = 149.94 µg/mL) than ascorbic acid (IC50 = 212.94 µg/mL). Therefore, the squid collagen hydrolysate can be utilized as a nutraceutical or cosmeceutical agent.

Abstract:Research background. Various protocols for enzymatic hydrolysis of fish by-products are increasingly tested to ensure value-added products with functional and biological properties important for food, cosmetic and medical applications. In addition, they attempt to minimize waste from industrial processing and environmental requirements. This study aims to establish an efficient protocol based on two-step enzymatic hydrolysis of freshwater fish skin and to evaluate the effect of resulting bioactive peptides on free radical scavenging, redox balance and regulation of fibroblast proliferation and migration. Experimental approach. Pepsin-soluble collagen extracted from silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix)skin was hydrolyzed by proteinase K at specific sites under controlled conditions. The molecular mass of ultrafiltration permeate was determined by gradient electrophoresis and gel filtration chromatography. The biological activity of intermediate and small size bioactive peptides was evaluated in experimental models in vitro mimicking oxidative stress and skin wound conditions. Results and conclusions. Extracted fish collagen was hydrolysed using proteinase K, the most efficient enzyme for the cleavage of the primary structure of the molecule, as previously found in silico. Established optimal conditions increased the enzyme specificity and the process yield. Bioactive peptides exerted significantly higher scavenging activity on free stable radicals and hydroxyl radicals often found in vivo, compared to fish collagen. They stimulated fibroblast metabolism in a dose-dependent manner and up-regulated cell migration in a scratch wound model. Pretreatment of fibroblasts with induced oxidative stress using optimal concentrations of fish peptides prevented the increase of reactive oxygen species production. In conclusion, bioactive peptides from carp skin demonstrated valuable properties of maintaining redox balance and skin wound healing process improvement, which indicated further potential applications in the development of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations. Novelty and scientific contribution. In this study the enzymatic hydrolysis was applied to isolated protein, in contrast to previous studies using waste tissue with variable composition. Recovered bioactive peptides acted not only as antioxidant agents, but also as regulators of oxidative stress and wound healing processes in skin cell models. Their nutritional and cosmetic application is recommended in novel formulations fighting skin ageing phenomena.

Abstract:Collagen is a biodegradable polymer with many beneficial properties, such as high biocompatibility with skin, excellent film-forming ability, antimicrobial and antioxidant actions, etc. It has received increasing attention in various research and practical fields for its potential applications. However, the use of collagen can be problematic due to its high molecular weight, which can be resolved by hydrolysis into smaller polypeptides. Efforts have also been made to find alternative sources of collagen and its hydrolysates. One such promising source is poultry by-products rich in type I collagen, the most important collagen for practical use. This article analyzes the physico-chemical properties of collagen hydrolysates isolated from the superficial soft tissues of chicken paws. The results obtained show that the use of Neutrase yields a hydrolysate that exhibits greater surface activity at the liquid-gas interface, enhanced wetting ability, and better adhesion to hydrophobic surfaces. Therefore, it can be recommended as a multifunctional ingredient for skin care cosmetics. A cream formula with collagen hydrolysate was developed. Cream is characterized as a multiple emulsion with a moisturizing effect.

Abstract:Previous investigations have demonstrated that CTL may play an important role in suppressing the disease progression of HIV infection. In this study, we inoculated mice with IL-12 expression plasmid together with plasmid-encoding HIV-1 envelope to enhance CTL activity by activating a Th1-type response. The results of delayed-type hypersensitivity using the footpad swelling response and of CTL activity clearly showed that HIV-1-specific cell-mediated immunity was enhanced by inoculation of the IL-12 expression plasmid. Quantitation of cytokine in the sera of IL-12-inoculated mice revealed that IFN-gamma significantly increased. The enhanced cell-mediated immunity responses were abrogated by combined administration of the IL-12 expression plasmid and neutralizing anti-IFN-gamma Ab. Together, these results suggest that enhanced virus-specific cell-mediated immunity occurred via an endogenously produced IFN-gamma by inoculation of IL-12 expression plasmid.
Bioactive Peptide Fractions from Collagen Hydrolysate of Common Carp Fish Byproduct: Antioxidant and Functional Properties

Abstract:Collagen isolated from byproducts of common carp was hydrolyzed with alcalase enzyme to obtain peptide fractions. The resulting >30 kDa (PF1), 10–30 kDa (PF2), 3–10 kDa (PF3) and <1 kDa (PF4) fractions were studied for their antioxidant and functional properties. All peptide fractions illustrated antioxidant activity at different concentrations (1, 5, and 10 mg/mL). Although PF4 indicated the highest DPPH radical-scavenging activity (87%) at a concentration of 1 mg/mL, the highest reducing power (0.34) and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (95.4%) were also observed in PF4 at a concentration of 10 mg/mL. The solubility of the peptide fractions was influenced by pH. The lowest solubility of the peptide fractions was observed at pH 4. The highest emulsifying activity index (EAI) was observed for PF4 (121.1 m2/g), followed by PF3 (99.6 m2/g), PF2 (89.5 m2/g) and PF1 (78.2 m2/g). In contrast to what has been found in the case of EAI, the emulsion stability of the peptide fractions decreased at lower molecular weight, which ranged from 24.4 to 31.6 min. Furthermore, it was revealed that PF1 had the highest foam capacity (87.4%) and foam stability (28.4 min), followed by PF2 and PF3. Overall, the findings suggest that peptide fractions isolated from byproducts of common carp are a promising source of natural antioxidants for application in functional food and pharmaceutical products.

Abstract:Antioxidant collagen hydrolysates refers to the peptides mixture with antioxidant properties identified from hydrolyzed collagen. Due to its specific structural, biological and physicochemical properties, collagen hydrolysates have been explored as a multifunctional antioxidant in the biomedical field. In this review, we summarize recent advances in antioxidant collagen hydrolysates development. Initially, the preparation process of antioxidant collagen hydrolysates is introduced, including the production and separation methods. Then the effects and the mechanisms of amino acid composition and collagen peptide structure on the antioxidant activity of collagen hydrolysates are reviewed. Finally, the applications of antioxidant collagen hydrolysates in biomedical domains are summarized, with critical discussions about the advantages, current limitations and challenges to be resolved in the future.
Effects of Collagen Hydrolysates on UV-induced Photoaging Mice: Gly-Pro-Hyp as a Potent Anti-photoaging Peptide

Abstract:This work aimed to investigate the protective effects of collagen hydrolysates containing different contents of Gly-Pro-Xaa tripeptides on UV-induced photoaging mice and to identify potent anti-photoaging peptides. Results showed that oral ingestion of collagen hydrolysate with higher content of Gly-Pro-Xaa tripeptides (~11.4%, HCH) dramatically enhanced absorption of Pro-Hyp, Hyp-Gly, and Gly-Pro-Hyp into the body, which were 1.77-, 2.18-, and 65.07-fold higher in area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) values than that of collagen hydrolysate with lower content of Gly-Pro-Xaa tripeptides (~3.8%, LCH), respectively. Furthermore, protective effects of HCH on photo-aged skin of mice were significantly stronger than those of LCH in terms of increases in contents of hyaluronic acid and collagen, improvement in skin elasticity and epidermal thickness, alleviation in inflammation, and decreases in contents of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and MMP-3. More importantly, Gly-Pro-Hyp displayed potent anti-photoaging activities comparable with HCH based on an equivalent amount of Hyp. Network pharmacology analysis for potential mechanisms further indicated that Gly-Pro-Hyp might interact with JUN and FOS, and regulate IL-17 and TNF signaling pathways. Collectively, our results suggested that HCH had great potential to be applied into functional foods for skin health and Gly-Pro-Hyp was a potent collagen-derived anti-photoaging peptide, which might contribute to the excellent anti-photoaging effects of HCH.
