Abstract:Development of novel methods is needed for the synthesis of nanoparticles. Attention on such particles has elevated disquiet about the eco-friendly manner of their fabrication methods. In the present study, we equipped and synthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) from Panax notoginseng; investigated as an environmentally friendly and non-toxic substrate. Amalgamation of AuNPs was distinguished by numerous studies such as UV-absorbance and it shows peak values in the range of 520-550 nm. Nanoparticles sizes are confirmed by dynamic light scattering analysis and it shows 100 nm. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) confirmed the shape of the Au particles present in the synthesized materials. FTIR analysis studies showed the active molecules positioned in the plane of the synthesized particles. The anticancer potential of AuNPs was evaluated in PANC-1 cells. Additionally, AuNPs efficiently induced cytotoxicity, ROS and apoptosis by intonating intrinsic apoptotic gene expressions in PANC-1 cells. Finally, our study confirmed the synthesis of AuNPs from Panax notoginseng, which showed anticancer effects in an environmentally friendly manner.
Anticancer activity of green synthesised gold nanoparticles from Marsdenia tenacissima inhibits A549 cell proliferation through the apoptotic pathway

Abstract:Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as the most excellent anticancer theranostic nanoparticles were synthesized through efficient, simple, and green synthesis method using Marsdenia tenacissima plant extracts and they are widely characterized by several techniques including ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometers (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. From the AuNPs synthesized by M. tenacissima extracts, it was discovered that particle size around 50 nm, which is admirable nano dimension, was achieved by plant-mediated synthesis. After characterization of these nanoparticles, they performed as in vitro anticancer activity against lung cancer cell lines (A549). MTT assay revealed that AuNPs produce toxicity based on the dose-dependent A549 cells growth inhibition. AuNPs treatment activates caspase expression and down-regulates the anti-apoptotic protein expression in A549 cells. Our results point out that the AuNPs from M. tenacissima extract are apposite stabilizing agents, which serve as an effective anticancer agent against lung cancer cell lines (A549).

Abstract:Nanobiotechnology, the interface between biology and nanotechnology, has recently emerged in full bloom in the medical field due to its minimal side-effects and high efficiency. To broaden the application of nanobiotechnology, we composed gold nanoparticles from the extract of Pseudobulbus Cremastrae seu Pleiones (PCSP) using an efficient and green procedure. The biosynthesized Au nanoparticles containing PCSP (PCSP-AuNPs) were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopic, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDAX). After verifying the stability of PCSP-AuNPs, we detected its biosafety and immune-modulatory effects on RAW264.7 in vitro using NO assay, ELISA (TNF-α, IL-12p70, and IL-1β), and CCK-8 test. Furthermore, we examined the direct in vitro effects of PCSP-AuNPs on hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). Finally, we evaluated the immune regulation of PCSP-AuNPs using a mouse model with H22-tumor by testing the index of immune organs, splenic lymphocyte proliferation, cytokines levels (TNF-α and IL-10), and the CD4+/CD8+ cell ratio in the peripheral blood. Immunohistochemical analyses including H&E and PCNA staining were performed to investigate the anti-cancer efficacy and biocompatibility of PCSP-AuNPs. We found that PCSP-AuNPs not just possessed low toxicity, but also improved the immune-mediated antitumor response as compared to PCSP alone, suggesting its potential as a novel and efficient drug for liver cancer therapy.

Abstract:In this report, we have explored the possibility to facilitate the drug delivery efficiency for cancer cells through the surface chemistry modification of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), where the functional AuNPs were synthesized by the ligand exchange reaction between triphenyl phosphide-stabilized precursor nanoparticles and mercaptopropionic acid. Our observations demonstrate that the combination of the anticancer drug daunorubicin with relevant AuNPs could be used as an efficient way to mark the cancer cells, which may afford the potential application for the early diagnosis of the respective cancers. Besides, the synergistic enhanced effect of the relevant gold nanoparticles on the drug uptake of target cancer cells could provide a new strategy to inhibit the multidrug resistance of the respective cancers.

Abstract:Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were successfully fabricated by Pholiota adiposa polysaccharide (PAP-1a) without employing any other chemicals. The physical and chemical properties of PAP-AuNPs were determined using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). In an attempt to analyze the immune regulation, antitumor effect, and biological safety, the production of NO and TNF-α, IL-12p70, and IL-1β from RAW264.7 as well as the proliferation of RAW264.7 were detected in vitro. Flow cytometry was conducted to determine the ratio of the CD4+/CD8+ cell in peripheral blood and immunohistochemical analysis involving hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) staining were conducted in vivo. The results of this study showed that PAP-AuNPs had a significantly improved immune regulation and anti-tumor effect in comparison to PAP-1a alone. PAP-AuNPs showed no toxicity both in vivo and in vitro. This study demonstrates a useful application of PAP-AuNPs as a novel nanomedicine for hepatic carcinoma.

[Effect of memantine on membrane properties and postsynaptic potentials in neurons of Aplysia californica].

Abstract:The effect of 1,3-dimethyl-5-aminoadamantane (DMAA, D-145, memantine, Memantine) in the concentration range of 10(-6) to 10(-3) mol/l was investigated on membrane properties and synaptic transmission by the current or voltage clamp method on neurons in the visceral ganglion of Aplysia california. In the lower range (concentrations 10(-6) to 10(-5) mol/l) the substance increases the speed of voltage changes during the course of the action potential, increases spontaneous synaptic activity, and induces a slight membrane depolarization. With increasing concentration the effects reverse in that slope of action potential is slowed and synaptic transmission delayed or blocked. At the RC-R15 synapse, isolated from its interneuron, 10(-5) mol/l DMAA evokes spontaneously and regularly firing EPSPs; 10(-3) mol/l blocks both, spontaneous activity, and its responsiveness to electrical stimulation.

Abstract:Although various strategies have been reported for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for possible anticancer effects, green synthesis can be considered an efficient strategy for the production of efficient NPs with minimal toxic effects. In this study, we investigate the green synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using an aqueous leaf extract of Nicotiana plumbaginifolia and evaluated their protein/DNA binding, hemolysis characteristics, and anticancer properties against HeLa cervical cancer cells, while normal HUVECs were used as the control sample. Different techniques were utilized to characterize the development of AuNPs. Then, the interaction properties of biosynthesized AuNPs with HeLa cancer cells and HUVECs were assessed by cellular assays. The results showed that the Au nanosphere had an average particle size of 18 nm with four distinctive X-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks at 38.00°, 44.10°, 63.75° and 77.10°. Moreover, the UV–Vis spectrum showed a maximum absorption peak at about 538 nm, corresponding to the surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) characteristics of the AuNPs. Furthermore, an observed Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) peak at about 769 cm−1 was attributed to the AuO stretching vibration. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis also showed that the maximum size and zeta potential values for colloid AuNPs were 68.69 nm and −47.92 mV, respectively. Then, it was detected that after incubation of maximum % solution of AuNPs, 0.1, % BSA and %DNA binding values were 58.76 % and 32.15 %, respectively. It was also determined that following incubation of red blood cells (RBC) with maximum concentrations of AuNPs, 20 μM, the hemolysis value was 2.29 %. Cellular assays showed that the IC50 value of AuNPs was 1.53 μM in HeLa cells, whereas this value for HUVEC normal cells was 30.55 μM. It was also shown that incubation of cells with AuNPs for 24 h led to a higher upregulation in the levels of released Cytc. C, caspase-9, and caspase-3 in HeLa cancer cells compared with HUVECs. Then, it was determined that stimulation of ROS generation and subsequent apoptosis, upregulation of Bax/Bcl-2, caspase-9, and caspase-3 mRNA, induced by AuNPs can be reversed by pretreatment of cells with NAC, a potential antioxidant. Finally, it was demonstrated that although the exposure of HeLa cells to AuNPs after 24 h caused a significant reduction in cell viability mediated by apoptosis, pre-treatment of cells with caspase-9 and caspase-3 inhibitors, significantly mitigated apoptosis induction and recovered cell viability. In conclusion, this paper might provide useful information about the medicinal purposes enabled by AuNPs.

Abstract:The unique properties of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), such as size, surface charge, and the ability to release silver ions, contribute to DNA damage, inducing of oxidative stress, and apoptosis in cancer cells. Thus, the potential application of AgNPs in the field of biomedicine, and cancer therapy are rapidly increasing day by day. Therefore, in this study, AgNPs were synthesized by extract of Chuanminshen violaceum, and then the synthesized CM-AgNPs were fully characterized. The biological activity of CM-AgNPs was investigated for antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. The cytotoxic activity of CM-AgNPs was tested for various kinds of cancer cells including MKN45 gastric cancer cells, HCT116 human colon cancer cells, A549 human lung cancer cells, and HepG2 liver cancer cells. Among these cancer cells, the induced apoptosis activity of CM-AgNPs on HCT116 cancer cells was better and was used for further investigation. Besides, the CM-AgNPs exhibited great antioxidant activity against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) with 50% free radical scavenging activity, and CM-AgNPs also showed a significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Thus, our pilot data demonstrated that the green synthesis of CM-AgNPs would be considered a good candidate for the treatment of HCT116 cancer cells, with its strong antioxidant activity and antibacterial effects.

Abstract:Nanotechnology is creating a bang in each and every field of life science. Scientists are mounting their interest of research towards gold nanoparticles as they are capable with bigger and advanced properties.Traditionally nanoparticles have been manufactured by various chemical and physical methods but have negative impact on the environment and are also highly toxic. Synthesis of nanoparticles by using plant extracts is substituting the conventional methods and it is eco-friendly too. In the current study, we prepared gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) from Magnolia officinalis, which is identified as an eco-friendly and less toxic method. Incorporation of AuNPs was renowned by UV-absorbance and it shows peak values. Nanoparticle sizes are recognized by dynamic light scattering scrutiny and it shows a value of 128 nm. Besides, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) incorrigibly define the shape of the AuNPs which are present in the complex materials. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) findings display that the active molecules are positioned in the plane of the AuNPs. Similarly, anticancer efficacy of AuNPs have been assessed in A549 cells. our study show that AuNPs effectively provoke cytotoxicity, and apoptosis by inflecting apoptotic gene expressions in A549 cells.

Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry

Abstract:Background: Limited chemotherapy efficacy and cancer stem cells (CSCs)-induced therapeutic resistance are major difficulties for tumour treatment. Adopting more efficient therapies to eliminate bulk-sensitive cancer cells and resistant CSCs is urgently needed. Methods: Based on the potential and functional complementarity of gold and silver nanoparticles (AuNPs or AgNPs) on tumour treatment, bimetallic NPs (alloy) have been synthesized to obtain improved or even newly emerging bioactivity from a combination effect. This study reported a facile, green and economical preparation of Au-Ag alloy NPs using biocompatible polydopamine (PDA) as a reductant, capping, stabilizing and hydrophilic agent. Results: These alloy NPs were quasi-spherical with rough surfaces and recorded in diameters of 80 nm. In addition, these alloy NPs showed good water dispersity, stability and photothermal effect. Compared with monometallic counterparts, these alloy NPs demonstrated a dramatically enhanced cytotoxic/pro-apoptotic/necrotic effect towards bulk-sensitive MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells. The underlying mechanism regarding the apoptotic action was associated with a mitochondria-mediated pathway, as evidenced by Au3+/Ag+ mediated Mitochondria damage, ROS generation, DNA fragmentation and upregulation of certain apoptotic-related genes (Bax, P53 and Caspase 3). Attractively, these Au-Ag alloy NPs showed a remarkably improved inhibitory effect on the mammosphere formation capacity of MCF-7 CSCs. Conclusion: All the positive results were attributed to incorporated properties from Au, Ag and PDA, the combination effect of chemotherapy and photothermal therapy and the nano-scaled structure of Au-Ag alloy NPs. In addition, the high biocompatibility of Au-Ag alloy NPs supported them as a good candidate in cancer therapy.

Abstract:Objective: According to an international survey, the cancer occurrence in the breast is the foremost in women. Surgery and chemotherapy remain the definitive treatment for the breast cancer. The bio-green methods of synthesizing silver nanoparticles are cost-effective and eco-friendly when parallel to physical and chemical methods. In addition, they effectively control pathogenic microorganisms. Former research studies reveal that kalijiri a common name for Centratherum anthelminticum is used as a traditional medicine for various ailments including anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antidiabetic and anticancer. Our present research study focal points on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using aqueous seed extract of Centratherum anthelminticum and the evaluation of their antioxidant and cytotoxic activity. Methods: An aqueous extract of seeds from Centratherum anthelminticum was prepared by boiling it with distilled water. The silver nanoparticles were synthesized from the seeds of Centratherum anthelminticum and characterized by various methods such as UV-Visible spectroscopy, FT-IR, Transmission electron microscopy, DLS and X-ray diffraction to confirm the formation of nanoparticles. Results: The cytotoxic analysis of MDA-MB-231 cells was tested with the synthesized silver nanoparticles complex. The observed result was IC50 of 35.06±1.2 and it was not shown any toxicity to the non-cancerous cell line. Conclusion: In a nutshell, the synthesized silver nanoparticles from the seeds of Centratherum anthelminticum may be used for the treatment of breast cancer. Further studies are warranted to furnish the mechanism of action.
Green Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles from Polygahatous Polysaccharides and Their Anticancer Effect on Hepatic Carcinoma through Immunoregulation

Abstract:Hepatic carcinoma is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among all cancers, but no effective treatment measures have been developed. Herein, polystyrene polysaccharide (PSP) extracted from Polygonatum was used to synthesize gold nanoparticles (PSP-AuNPs) by heating and reduction methods, and the characteristics of the PSP-AuNPs were detected after successful synthesis. In vitro, the immunoregulatory effects of PSP-AuNPs were studied by testing the concentrations of NO, TNF-α, and IL-12p70 in the culture media of PSP-AuNPs-treated RAW264.7 macrophages, and the effect of biocompatibility on the viability of RAW264.7 macrophages and L02 cells was studied via a CCK-8 assay. In vivo, tumor-bearing mice were established and treated with PSP-AuNPs, and the anticancer effects were studied by detecting trends in tumor volume, tumor inhibition rate, and tumor cell proliferation index. Immunoregulation was assessed by evaluating the serum levels of TNF-α and IL-10, the CD4+/CD8+ lymphocyte ratio in peripheral blood and the spleen and thymus indices; toxicity was investigated by measuring body weight, liver and renal function indices. The results showed that PSP-AuNPs could regulate immune function both in vitro and in vivo with almost no toxicity. PSP-AuNPs exhibited excellent anticancer effects on hepatic carcinoma in vivo. The anticancer effect could be strengthened, and the toxicity could be reduced by the combined use of PSP-AuNPs and ADM. In conclusion, PSP-AuNPs could be effective as a therapy and adjuvant therapy for treating hepatic carcinoma, providing potential treatment strategies for this disease.
Formulation and characterization of a novel anti-human endometrial cancer supplement by gold nanoparticles green-synthesized using Spinacia oleracea L. Leaf aqueous extract

Abstract:Gold nanoparticles as one of the productions of the chemistry field have a special place in the cure of many diseases. Many experiences in medicinal researches have indicated that the plants enhance the anticancer effects of gold nanoparticles. According to the above contents, we investigated the capacities of Spinacia oleracea L. leaf aqueous extract green-mediated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as a modern chemotherapeutic material in treating endometrial cancer. The physicochemical characterization tests including UV–Visible Spectroscopy (UV–Vis), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE‐SEM), Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FT‐IR), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) were used for investigating the physicochemical properties of AuNPs. To survey the antioxidant potentials of AuNPs, one of the common antioxidant techniques i.e., DPPH was used. Determination of anti-endometrial cancer effects of AuNPs was carried out by the MTT assay and against Ishikawa, KLE, HEC-1-A, and HEC-1-B cell lines. The physicochemical characterization analyses revealed that the AuNPs had been formulated as the best possible. The results of the DPPH test confirmed excellent antioxidant properties of AuNPs in comparison to the butylated hydroxytoluene. The AuNPs IC50 was 194 µg/mL in the antioxidant test. The results of the MTT assay confirmed removing Ishikawa, KLE, HEC-1-A, and HEC-1-B cell lines after treating with low concentrations of AuNPs. The IC50 of the AuNPs was 341, 335, 316, and 325 µg/mL against Ishikawa, KLE, HEC-1-A, and HEC-1-B cell lines, respectively. The best finding of anti-endometrial cancer potentials was determined in the HEC-1-A cell line. According to the above results, significant anti-endometrial cancer effects of Au nanoparticles green-mediated by S. oleracea leaf extract are confirmed. It is offered that the studies of the clinical trial are performed for approving the above findings in humans.

Abstract:With the advent of nanotechnology, the treatment of cancer is changing from a conventional to a nanoparticle-based approach. Thus, developing nanoparticles to treat cancer is an area of immense importance. We prepared silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from methanolic extract of Alpinia galanga rhizome and characterized them by UV–Vis spectrophotometry, Fourier transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Zetasizer, and Transmission electron Microscopy (TEM). UV–Vis spectrophotometry absorption spectrum showed surface plasmon between 400 and 480 nm. FTIR spectrum analysis implies that various phytochemicals/secondary metabolites are involved in the reduction, caping, and stabilization of AgNPs. The Zetasier result suggests that the particles formed are small in size with a low polydispersity index (PDI), suggesting a narrow range of particle distribution. The TEM image suggests that the particles formed are mostly of spherical morphology with nearly 20–25 nm. Further, the selected area electron diffraction (SAED) image showed five electron diffraction rings, suggesting the polycrystalline nature of the particles. The nanoparticles showed high anticancer efficacy against cervical cancer (SiHa) cell lines. The nanostructures showed dose-dependent inhibition with 40% killing observed at 6.25 μg/mL dose. Abstract:Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a disease of significant concern with higher mortality rates. Conventional treatment approaches have several drawbacks, leading to the opening of new research avenues in the field of nanoparticle-based cancer therapeutics. The study aimed at the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (Pm-AuNPs) from the aqueous bark extract of Pterocarpus marsupium , followed by its characterization and in vitro anticancer evaluation against OSCC. The synthesized Pm-AuNPs were characterized using UV–visible spectroscopy, particle size analyser, zeta potential, FTIR and SEM techniques. The anticancer potential of the Pm-AuNPs was evaluated against OSCC cell lines (SCC29b, SSC154 and OECM-1) through in vitro assays. The IC 50 value was found to be 25 ± 1.2, 45 ± 1.5 and 75 ± 2.1 μg/mL for the three OSCC cell lines, elucidating Pm-AuNPs cytotoxic effects and mechanism of action. Intracellular ROS and SOX detection, mitochondrial transmembrane potential analysis and apoptosis detection were used to confirm the activity of Pm-AuNPs against OSCC. Acute toxicity studies on Wistar rats confirmed the non-toxic nature of the Pm-AuNPs at a higher dose concentration up to 2000 mg/kg body weight. The findings underscore Pm-AuNPs as promising candidates for future anticancer therapeutics, providing insights into their mechanism of action and therapeutic efficacy against OSCC.

Abstract:Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been shown to be useful as carriers of various anticancer drugs as well as diagnosis platforms. In this review, we discuss the synthesis and physiochemical properties of AuNPs. We also highlight the photothermal and photodynamic properties of AuNPs and relevant applications in therapeutic studies. Furthermore, we review the applications of AuNPs in cancer treatment as well as their underlying anticancer mechanisms in multiple types of cancer.

Abstract:The green and eco-friendly synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) from renewable resources such as plants, algae, fungi, and bacteria has recently gained interest due to its use of sustainable feedstocks. This review presents an in-depth exploration of AuNP synthesis methods and their applications in cancer imaging and therapy. We examine the mechanisms behind various physical and chemical techniques used to synthesize AuNPs, with a special focus on the unique biomedical applications of green-synthesized AuNPs in diagnostic and therapeutic platforms, such as imaging and targeted therapy. Although promising, green synthesis of AuNPs faces challenges, including variability in particle size, limitations in morphology control, and scalability issues, which need to be addressed to fully harness their potential. This review also demonstrates that AuNPs can be loaded with anticancer agents to create targeted drug delivery vehicles for tumor treatment. As nanotechnology drives revolutionary advances in healthcare, AuNPs offer a promising toolkit for medical progress. However, a fundamental understanding of AuNPs and rigorous risk assessments in diagnostics, imaging, and therapeutic applications are essential to enable their safe and effective use in clinical settings.

Abstract:Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been widely used in catalysis, photothermal therapy, and targeted drug delivery. Carrageenan oligosaccharide (CAO) derived from marine red algae was used as a reducing and capping agent to obtain AuNPs by an eco-friendly, efficient, and simple synthetic route for the first time. The synthetic conditions of AuNPs were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM), and the CAO-AuNPs obtained were demonstrated to be ellipsoidal, stable and crystalline by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The CAO-AuNPs showed localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) oscillation at about 530 nm with a mean diameter of 35 ± 8 nm. The zeta potential of CAO-AuNPs was around −20 mV, which was related to the negatively charged CAO around AuNPs. The CAO-AuNPs exhibited significant cytotoxic activities to HCT-116 and MDA-MB-231 cells, which could be a promising nanomaterial for drug delivery.

Abstract:Nanostructured materials used have unique properties and many uses in nanotechnology. The most striking of these is using herbal compounds for the green synthesis of nanoparticles. Among the nanoparticle types used for green synthesis, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are used for cancer therapy due to their stable structure and non-cytotoxic. Lung cancer is the most common and most dangerous cancer worldwide in terms of survival and prognosis. In this study, Nasturtium officinale (L.) extract (NO), which contains biomolecules with antioxidant and anticancer effects, was used to biosynthesize AuNPs, and after their characterization, the effect of the green-synthesized AuNPs against lung cancer was evaluated in vitro.

Abstract:Nanoparticles are currently used for cancer theranostics in the clinical field. Among nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) attract much attention due to their usability and high performance in imaging techniques. The wide availability of biological precursors used in plant-based synthesized AuNPs allows for the development of large-scale production in a greener manner. Conventional cancer therapies, such as surgery and chemotherapy, have significant limitations and frequently fail to produce satisfying results. AuNPs have a prolonged circulation time, allow easy modification with ligands detected via cancer cell surface receptors, and increase uptake through receptor-mediated endocytosis. To exploit these unique features, studies have been carried out on the use of AuNPs as contrast agents for X-ray-based imaging techniques (i.e., computed tomography). As nanocarriers, AuNPs synthesized by nontoxic and biocompatible plants to deliver therapeutic biomolecules could be a significant stride forward in the effective treatment of various cancers. Fluorescent-plant-based markers, including AuNPs, fabricated using Medicago sativa, Olax Scandens, H. ambavilla, and H. lanceolatum, have been used in detecting cancers. Moreover, green synthesized AuNPs using various extracts have been applied for the treatment of different types of solid tumors. However, the cytotoxicity of AuNPs primarily depends on their size, surface reactivity, and surface area. In this review, the benefits of plant-based materials in cancer therapy are firstly explained. Then, considering the valuable position of AuNPs in medicine, the application of AuNPs in cancer therapy and detection is highlighted with an emphasis on limitations faced by the application of such NPs in drug delivery platforms.
