Abstract:Background: The relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and prostate cancer (PCa) remains controversial. This cross-sectional study investigated the association between SUA levels and PCa incidence. Methods: A total of 9,776 participants aged ≥40 from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2007 to 2020 were included, 503 of whom had PCa. Weighted univariate logistic regression, multivariate logistic regression, and smooth-fitting curve analyses were used to analyze the association between SUA and PCa incidence. Concurrently, the fitted smoothing curves were used to explore the potential non-linear relationships. If non-linearity was observed, a recursive algorithm further calculated the inflection point. Results: Three models were used to analyze the correlation between SUA levels and PCa incidence. All regression models demonstrated a negative correlation between SUA levels and PCa incidence (model 1: OR = 0.88, 95% CI=0.80–0.97; model 2: OR = 0.87, 95% CI=0.80–0.96; model 3: OR = 0.87, 95% CI=0.78–0.96). According to the trend test, with increasing SUA, the risk of PCa showed a downward trend (three models P for trend = 0.037, 0.015, 0.016). According to the subgroup analysis, a significant negative correlation between SUA and PCa was detected in individuals aged >60 years, non-Hispanic whites, those of other races, and those with hypertension. Moreover, the association between SUA and PCa followed a U-shaped curve among participants without hypertension, and the inflection point of SUA was 5.1 mg/dl. Conclusions: This cross-sectional study revealed a negative relationship between SUA levels and the risk of PCa, particularly in specific demographic groups. These findings offer a fresh perspective on the role of SUA in PCa patients, potentially paving the way for new approaches for the prevention and treatment of PCa. However, further studies are necessary to validate these findings.

Abstract:Abstract Background We prospectively examined the association between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in China and updated the evidence through a comprehensive meta-analysis of prospective studies worldwide. Methods Our original analyses were based on data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. The primary exposure of interest was SUA at baseline, and the main outcome was incident CKD. Logistic regression models were used to examine the association between SUA levels and incident CKD. A meta-analysis was performed to pool our effect estimate and those from other cohort studies. Results During a 4-year follow-up, 180 participants developed incident CKD. Participants in the highest SUA quartile were 2.73 times as likely to develop incident CKD compared to those in the lowest quartile (multivariable-adjusted OR, 2.73; 95% CI, 1.65–4.50). Each 1 mg/dL increment in the SUA levels was associated with a 49% increased risk of incident CKD (multivariable-adjusted OR, 1.49; 95% CI, 1.28–1.74). In the meta-analysis of 30 cohort studies (including the current study), pooled relative risks (95% CIs) of incident CKD were 1.15 (1.10–1.21) for SUA each 1 mg/dL increment, 1.22 (1.14–1.30) for the highest versus lowest SUA group, and 1.17 (1.12–1.23) for hyperuricemia versus no hyperuricemia. Conclusions Baseline SUA levels were associated with higher risk of incident CKD in middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults, and this positive association was confirmed in the meta-analysis of multiple cohort studies. Our findings may imply that SUA levels need to be routinely monitored for future CKD risk.
Association Between Serum Uric Acid Levels and Obesity among University Students (China).

Abstract:Objective: to evaluate the association between serum uric acid and obesity among university students who participated in routine health screening in 2013.Methods: in this cross-sectional study, 3529 subjects were analyzed. Obesity categories were classified by BMI levels references in China. And serum uric acid levels were classified by serum uric acid quartiles. Two-sample T-test and Wilcoxon Rank sum test were used to compare age, biochemical and anthropometric parameters of subjects of two genders. Rank correlation used to analyze relationship between serum uric acid and obesity.Results: there were 1285 males (mean age, 19.8 +/- 1.3 years) and 2244 females (mean age, 19.9 +/- 1.3 years) in this study. Association between 2nd serum uric acid quartile and normal in male are significant and coefficient was 0.519. The 3rd serum uric acid quartile and normal in female was associated significantly(r = 0.173, p = 0.010). And associations between overweight and 3rd and 4th serum uric acid quartiles in female were significant(r = 0.128, p = 0.038 in 1st quartile and r = 0.282, p = 0.004 in 4th quartile). The 4th serum uric acid quartile and Obesity in two gender groups were significantly associated(r = 0.291, p = 0.000 in male and r = 0.484, p = 0.001 in female).Conclusion: high serum uric acid was positively associated with obesity in overweight and obesity group. However, the association was weak between two variables because serum uric acid influenced obesity with other related factors together.
Associations of Serum Uric Acid Levels with Liver Disease-Related Morbidity and Mortality: A Prospective Cohort Study of the UK Biobank.

Abstract:Background and AimsThe association of serum uric acid (SUA) levels with liver-related morbidity and mortality remains undetermined. Therefore, we aimed to explore the association of SUA levels with liver-related morbidity and mortality. MethodsThe present cohort study included 459 619 adults from the UK Biobank. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the associations of SUA levels with morbidity and mortality of overall liver disease. Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were conducted to explore the underlying causality. A polygenic risk score was generated to assess whether there was a gene-exposure interaction. ResultsDuring a median follow-up of 12.6 years, 14 302 nonfatal and 609 fatal cases of overall liver disease were identified. Compared to individuals in the lowest quartile, the HRs (95% CI) of incident overall liver disease were 1.08 (1.02-1.14), 1.13 (1.07-1.20) and 1.44 (1.36-1.53) for individuals with SUA levels in quartiles 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Similarly, the HRs (95% CI) of liver disease-associated mortality were 1.09 (0.78-1.52), 1.55 (1.14-2.13) and 1.96 (1.42-2.69) for individuals with SUA levels in quartiles 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The MR results did not support the causal association of SUA levels with liver disease. In addition, there was a significant modification effect of the polygenic risk score on the association of SUA levels with incident overall liver disease (p(interaction) = .003). ConclusionsHigher SUA levels were significantly associated with an increased risk of overall liver disease morbidity and mortality.
Association Between Serum Uric Acid Levels and Dyslipidemia in Chinese Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study and Further Meta-Analysis.

Abstract:This study aimed to investigate the association of serum uric acid (SUA) levels with dyslipidemia and its components and to further explore the age- and gender-specific association of SUA levels with dyslipidemia in Chinese adults.A cross-sectional study was performed among 8642 adults who underwent health examinations. A meta-analysis covering 17 studies was conducted to confirm the results.The prevalence of hyperuricemia and dyslipidemia was 9.25% and 20.44%, respectively. Participants with hyperuricemia had higher prevalence of dyslipidemia than those without hyperuricemia (34.42% vs 19.01%, P < .005). Compared with participants with SUA in the first quintile, the odds ratio (OR) (95% confidence interval) of dyslipidemia in the second, third, fourth, and fifth quintiles of SUA were 1.095 (0.901-1.332), 1.582 (1.315-1.904), 2.095 (1.752-2.505), and 3.212 (2.702-3.818), respectively. Subgroup analysis showed that SUA quintiles were significantly correlated with the likelihood of dyslipidemia in females aged > 50 years and in males, but not in females aged ≤50 years. The meta-analysis also showed that hyperuricemia increased the likelihood of dyslipidemia and the pooled OR for the highest uric acid level vs the lowest uric acid level was 1.84 (1.49-2.28).SUA levels are significantly associated with dyslipidemia, and this association is impacted by age and gender.
Association between Serum Uric Acid and Pre-hypertension and Hypertension among Chinese Adults

Abstract:Background: Uric acid (UA), the end product of purine nucleotide metabolism, participates in the processes of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Experimental evidence suggests it is an important mediator in the physiological response to blood pressure increase. Objective: To evaluate the association between serum UA levels and pre-hypertension and hypertension in a Chinese population. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from March to September 2017, and 1,138 participants aged 35 to 75 were enrolled in this study, where 223 normotensive, 316 pre-hypertensive, and 599 hypertensive subjects were selected to evaluate the association between serum UA levels and hypertension. A p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Serum UA levels were significantly higher in the pre-hypertension and hypertension group compared to the control group in the entire population (p<0.05 for all). Quantitative trait analysis indicated that serum UA levels were (2.92 +/- 0.81, 3.06 +/- 0.85, 3.22 +/- 0.98 mg/d) linearly increased in normotensive, pre-hypertensive and hypertensive females, with a p value of 0.008. Serum UA levels in the quartiles were positively correlated with DBP (p<0.05), particularly in females. After adjusting for age, gender, body mass index (BMI), glucose (GLU), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of pre-hypertension from the lowest (referent) to the highest levels of serum UA were 1.718 (1.028-2.872), 1.018 (0.627-1.654) and 1.738 (1.003-3.010). Additionally, the second quartile of serum UA levels were significantly associated with hypertension, with an OR (95% CI) of 2.036 (1.256-3.298). Conclusions: This study suggests that higher serum UA levels are positively associated with pre-hypertension and hypertension among Chinese adults.
Association of Serum Uric Acid with Increased Risk of Cancer among Hypertensive Chinese

Abstract:Several large prospective studies show an association between serum uric acid (SUA) and cancer, however there is a lack of evidence in China. We aimed to investigate the effects of SUA levels on cancer incidence and mortality in China. This study included 20,577 adult hypertensive patients with valid SUA measurements who participated in the China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial where subjects were randomly assigned to receive a double-blind treatment of either 10 mg enalapril (n = 10,286) or 10.8 mg enalapril-folic acid (n = 10,291). Subjects were prospectively followed for a median of 4.5 years. Cox proportional hazards models were used to calculate hazards ratios (HR) of cancer risk associated with SUA. A total of 232 participants developed cancer. SUA was independently associated with increased cancer risk in the enalapril group [HR: 1.12, (95% CI: 1.03-1.22)]. Compared to the lowest tertile, combined subjects with SUA levels from the upper two tertiles had a higher risk of cancer in the enalapril group [T2 + T3: HR: 1.58, (95% CI: 1.02-2.47)]. In cancer site-specific analyses, a positive association of SUA levels with digestive cancer and all fatal cancer was also observed [HR: 1.18, (95% CI: 1.09-1.27); HR: 1.15, (95% CI: 1.03-1.28), respectively] in the enalapril group. Interestingly, SUA levels were not associated with the risk of cancer or related mortality in the enalapril folic acid group. Our results suggest that elevated SUA is independently and positively associated with the risk of total cancer incidence, digestive cancer incidence and cancer mortality among hypertensive Chinese.
Serum Uric Acid Increases Risk of Cancer Incidence and Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Abstract:SUA is a potent antioxidant and thus may play a protective role against cancer. Many epidemiological studies have investigated this hypothesis but provided inconsistent and inconclusive findings. We aimed to precisely elucidate the association between SUA levels and cancer by pooling all available publications. Totally, 5 independent studies with 456,053 subjects and 12 with 632,472 subjects were identified after a comprehensive literature screening from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science. The pooled RRs showed that individuals with high SUA levels were at an increased risk of total cancer incidence (RR = 1.03, 95% CI 1.01-1.05, P = 0.007). Positive association between high SUA levels and total cancer incidence was observed in males but not females (for men: RR = 1.05, 95% CI 1.02-1.08, P = 0.002; for women, RR = 1.01, 95% CI 0.98-1.04, P = 0.512). Besides, high SUA levels were associated with an elevated risk of total cancer mortality (RR = 1.17, 95% CI 1.04-1.32, P = 0.010), particularly in females (RR = 1.25, 95% CI 1.07-1.45, P = 0.004). The study suggests that high SUA levels increase the risk of total cancer incidence and mortality. The data do not support the hypothesis of a protective role of SUA in cancer.

Abstract:Background: Whether there is an association between serum uric acid (SUA) level and risk of mortality in the general population remains unclear. Based on the China National Survey of Chronic Kidney Disease linked to mortality data, a population-based cohort study was performed to investigate the association between SUA level and all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, and cancer mortality in China.Methods: The survival status of participants in the cross-sectional survey was identified from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2017. Only 33,268 individuals with complete SUA data among the 47,204 participants were included in the analysis. We determined the rates of all-cause mortality, CVD mortality, and cancer mortality. We used Cox proportional hazards regression models to evaluate the effect of the SUA level on mortality.Results: During a total of 297,538.4 person-years of follow-up, 1282 deaths occurred. In the Cox proportional hazards regression model, the rate of all-cause mortality, CVD mortality, and cancer mortality had a U-shaped association with SUA levels only in men, whereas no significant associations were detected in women. For all-cause mortality in men, the multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) in the first, second, and fourth quartiles compared with the third quartile were 1.31 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.04–1.67), 1.17 (95% CI 0.92–1.47), and 1.55 (95% CI 1.24–1.93), respectively. For CVD mortality, the corresponding HRs were 1.47 (95% CI 1.00–2.18), 1.17 (95% CI 0.79–1.75), and 1.67 (95% CI 1.16–2.43), respectively. For the cancer mortality rate, only a marginally significant association was detected in the fourth quartile compared with the third quartile with an HR of 1.43 (95% CI 0.99–2.08).Conclusions: The association between SUA and mortality differed by sex. We demonstrated a U-shaped association with SUA levels for all-cause and CVD mortalities among men in China.

Abstract:Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Previous studies have found that serum uric acid (SUA) levels are associated with the total cancer risk. However, due to the dual effect of uric acid on cancer, the relationship between the SUA levels and most specific-site cancer remains unclear.To investigate the associations between the SUA levels and incidence of hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer.In this prospective cohort study, 444462 participants free of cancer from the UK Biobank were included. The SUA levels were measured at baseline, and the incidence of hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer was determined by contacting the cancer registry. The hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) between the SUA levels and hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer were investigated using multiple adjusted Cox regression models adjusted for potential confounders.In total, 920 participants developed liver, gallbladder, biliary tract or pancreatic cancer during a median of 6.6 yrs of follow-up. We found that the HR of pancreatic cancer in the highest SUA group was 1.77 (95%CI: 1.29-2.42) compared with that in the lowest group. After stratifying by gender, we further found that SUA was associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer only among the females (highest quartile lowest quartile HR 2.04, 95%CI: 1.35-3.08). Among the males, the SUA levels were positively associated with the gallbladder cancer risk (highest quartile lowest quartile HR 3.09, 95%CI: 1.28-7.46), but a U-shaped association with the liver cancer risk was observed (-nonlinear = 0.03).SUA is likely to have gender-specific effects on hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer. High SUA levels are a risk factor for pancreatic cancer in females and gallbladder cancer in males. A U-shaped association with the liver cancer risk was identified.

Abstract:Background: Body mass index (BMI) has been demonstrated to be associated with serum uric acid (SUA) level in many developed countries, however, there is still a lack of large sample study in Jiangsu Province, one of the most economically developed regions in China, where fat-rich diet is common.Methods: Through retrospective analysis in healthy subjects, we determined the association of BMI with hyperuricemia risk. Data of 39,736 participants from January 2011 to June 2013 in China were analyzed for parameters including physical examinations and biochemical blood analysis.Results: On univariate analysis, SUA was positively correlated with age, SBP, DBP, BMI, FPG, red blood cell count, hemoglobin, white blood cell count, platelet, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, ALT, AST, bilirubin, albumin, BUN and creatinine. SUA was significantly elevated in a linear fashion as BMI increased, and SUA in obesity was significantly higher than underweight. The prevalence of hyperuricemia remained approximately 2.98 times greater among individuals with overweight, and 5.96 times greater among obesity, compared to individuals with underweight.Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between BMI and SUA among healthy subjects in Jiangsu province, China.

Abstract:Amongst patients with prostate cancer undergoing androgen deprivation therapy, a J‐shape relationship exists between baseline uric acid level and the risk of prostate cancer‐related mortality, with both high and low uric acid levels being associated with similarly elevated risks when compared against normal uric acid levels. Objective This population‐based study examined the association between baseline uric acid (UA) and prostate cancer (PCa)‐related mortality amongst PCa patients receiving androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Methods Adults with PCa who received ADT in Hong Kong between December 1999 and March 2021 were identified. Patients with missing baseline UA were excluded. Patients were followed up until September 2021. The outcome was PCa‐related mortality. Results Altogether, 4126 patients (median follow‐up 3.1[interquartile range 1.4–6.0] years) were included. Abstract:Introduction The current study sought to explore the effect of baseline serum uric acid (SUA) on the risk of all-cause mortality among Chinese adults aged 45~75 years and to determine its interaction relationship with diabetes. Methods The study was designed as a community-based cohort of 4467 adults aged between 45~75 years included in a 6-years follow-up period from 2009 to 2015 years by the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). Baseline SUA levels were grouped into quartiles and its association on all-cause mortality was explored using multivariate Cox proportional hazards models. Stratified analyses were performed to explore the associations of SUA quartiles with all-cause mortality among diabetic and non-diabetic individuals. Results A total of 141 deaths (5.3 per 1000 person-years) were recorded During a follow-up of 26431 person-years. Out of the 141 deaths, 28 deaths (10.1 per 1000 person-years) were reported in the diabetic groups and 113 deaths (4.8 per 1000 person-years) were recorded in the non-diabetic group. An increased risk of all-cause mortality was observed for participants in the first and fourth quartiles compared with the second SUA quartile, (Q1 SUA: aHR=2.1, 95% CI 1.1~4.1; Q4 SUA: aHR=2.1, 95% CI 1.1~4.0). Stratification of participants by diabetes status showed a U-shaped association for non-diabetic individuals. Whereas, declined eGFR, rather than SUA, was an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality in diabetic individuals (aHR=0.7, 95% CI 0.6~1.0). Conclusion Our study proved that the prognostic role of SUA for predicting all-cause death might be regulated by diabetes. Both low and high SUA levels were associated with increased mortality, supporting a U-shaped association only in non-diabetic individuals. Whereas, renal dysfunction rather than SUA was an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality. Further studies should be conducted to determine the SUA levels at which intervention should be conducted and explore target follow-up strategies to prevent progression leading to poor prognosis.

Abstract:Objective: This research endeavors to explore the relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) concentration and all-cause mortality in stroke patients. Methods: We undertook a cross-sectional analysis utilizing data derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning 2007 to 2016. The concentrations of SUA served as the independent variable, while the dependent variable was defined as all-cause mortality in stroke patients. The quartile method was utilized to classify uric acid levels into four distinct categories. Subsequently, three models were developed, and Cox proportional hazards regression was used to assess the effect of varying uric acid concentrations on the risk of all-cause mortality among stroke patients. Results: The study included a total of 10,805 participants, of whom 395 were stroke patients. Among all populations, the group with elevated levels of uric acid (Q4) exhibited a significant association with the overall mortality risk among stroke patients in all three models (model 1 p < 0.001, model 2 p < 0.001, model 3 p < 0.001). In the male population, there was no significant correlation observed between uric acid levels and the overall mortality risk among stroke patients in model 3 (Q2 p = 0.8, Q3 p = 0.2, Q4 p = 0.2). However, within the female population, individuals with high uric acid levels (Q4) demonstrated a noteworthy association with the overall mortality risk among stroke patients across all three models (model 1 p < 0.001, model 2 p < 0.001, model 3 p < 0.001). Conclusion: This cross-sectional investigation reveals a significant correlation between SUA levels and all-cause mortality in stroke patients, with a noticeable trend observed among females. Consequently, SUA may serve as a promising biomarker for assessing the prognosis of individuals affected by stroke.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate whether serum uric acid (SUA) level was associated with all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality among individuals with diabetes. Research design and methods: In this prospective cohort, we included the patients with diabetes from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2018. Mortality and underlying causes of death were ascertained by linkage to national death records through December 31, 2019. Weighted Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to evaluate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for all-cause and CVD mortality. We further performed a meta-analysis of available cohort studies to combine the association between SUA and mortality in diabetes. Results: Among the 7,101 diabetes from NHANES 1999-2018, the weighted mean of SUA level was 5.7 mg/dL. During 57,926 person-years of follow-up, 1,900 deaths (674 deaths from CVD) occurred. In the fully adjusted model, when compared to patients with diabetes in the lowest SUA quintile, those in the highest SUA quintile had the HRs (95% CIs) of 1.28 (1.03, 1.58) for all-cause mortality and 1.41 (1.03, 1.94) for CVD mortality. We included 13 cohort studies in the meta-analysis, and found that the pooled HRs (95% CIs) were 1.08 (1.05, 1.11) for all-cause mortality and 1.05 (1.03, 1.06) for CVD mortality, with per 1 mg/dL increment of SUA level in diabetes. Conclusions: This study indicated that higher SUA levels were associated with increased risks of all-cause and CVD mortality in diabetes. Interventional studies are needed to elucidate the health effect of lowering uric acid treatments.
Relationship between serum uric acid levels and periodontitis—A cross-sectional study

Abstract:Whether there is an association between serum uric acid level (sUA) and periodontitis remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between moderate/severe periodontitis and sUA in US adults. A total of 3398 participants were included in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2009 to 2014. The independent variable was sUA and the dependent variable was periodontitis. SUA for continuous variables, periodontitis as classification variables. Covariate including social demographic variables, life style, systemic diseases, etc. Multiple linear regression models were used to investigate the distribution of differences in covariates between different independent groups. To investigate the association between serum uric acid levels and moderate/severe periodontitis, three models were used (Model 1: unadjusted model; Model 2: adjusted for age, sex, and race/ethnicity; Model 3: adjusted for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, household income/poverty ratio, smoking behavior, alcohol consumption, dental floss frequency, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, hyperlipidemia, and sleep disorders). Among the 3398 patients, 42.5% had moderate/severe periodontitis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that sUA was significantly associated with moderate/severe periodontitis (OR = 1.10, 95%CI: (1.03, 1.16), P = 0.0020) after adjusting for potential confounding factors. In addition, it may vary by race/ethnicity and gender. The association between sUA levels and the prevalence ofperiodontitis was U-shaped in women and non-Hispanic blacks. sUA level is associated with moderate to severe periodontitis. However, the association between sUA levels and the occurrence of periodontitis in women and non-Hispanic blacks followed a U-shaped curve. sUA may directly or indirectly contribute to the global burden of periodontal disease, but there is little evidence that sUA is directly related to periodontitis.This study further supports that high uric acid levels are closely related to periodontitis and may contribute to the control of periodontitis. It also provides new insights into whether it can be used as an indicator to assess the risk or progression of periodontitis. More studies are needed to confirm the relationship between sUA and periodontitis.

Abstract:Introduction: The relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) and cervical cancer is inconclusive. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between SUA levels and cervical cancer incidence, and to evaluate the potential role of nutritional interventions in cervical cancer prevention. Methods: We conducted a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using genetic instruments from publicly available genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of individuals of predominantly European ancestry. Methods such as inversevariance weighted, weighted-median, weighted model, and MR-Egger were applied. Sensitivity tests, including leave-one-out, MR-PRESSO, and Cochran's Q test, assessed heterogeneity and pleiotropy. Results: Our findings revealed that a high SUA concentration significantly increased the risk of malignant cervical cancer: a 1 mg/mL increase in SUA was associated with a 71% higher risk (OR = 1.71, 95% CI = 1.10-2.67; p = 0.018). Stratification by histological type showed a significant causal effect on cervical adenocarcinoma risk (OR = 2.56, 95% CI = 1.14-5.73; p = 0.023). However, no clear evidence was found for a causal effect of cervical cancer on SUA levels. Conclusion: This study identified a causal relationship between elevated SUA levels and the risk of malignant cervical cancer, particularly cervical adenocarcinoma. These findings provide novel insights into the mechanisms of cervical carcinogenesis and suggest that managing SUA levels could be a potential strategy for cervical cancer prevention through dietary management.
