Abstract:We report serendipitous detections of line emission with ALMA in band 3, 6, and 7 in the central parsec of the Galactic center at an up to now highest resolution (<0.7''). Among the highlights are the very first and highly resolved images of sub-mm molecular emission of CS, H13CO+, HC3N, SiO, SO, C2H, and CH3OH in the immediate vicinity (~1'' in projection) of Sgr A* and in the circumnuclear disk (CND). The central association (CA) of molecular clouds shows three times higher CS/X (X: any other observed molecule) luminosity ratios than the CND suggesting a combination of higher excitation - by a temperature gradient and/or IR-pumping - and abundance enhancement due to UV- and/or X-ray emission. We conclude that the CA is closer to the center than the CND is and could be an infalling clump consisting of denser cloud cores embedded in diffuse gas. Moreover, we identified further regions in and outside the CND that are ideally suited for future studies in the scope of hot/cold core and extreme PDR/XDR chemistry and consequent star formation in the central few parsecs.

Two New and Remarkable Sightlines through the Galactic Center's Molecular Gas

Abstract:Until now the known sources in the Galactic center with sufficiently smooth spectra and of sufficient brightness to be suitable for high resolution infrared absorption spectroscopy of interstellar gas occupied a narrow range of longitudes, from the central cluster of hot stars to approximately 30 pc east of the center. In order to more fully characterize the gas within the r ~ 180 pc central molecular zone it is necessary to find additional such sources that cover a much wider longitudinal range. We are in the process of identifying luminous dust-embedded objects suitable for spectroscopy within 1.2 deg in longitude and 0.1 deg in latitude of Sgr A* using the Spitzer GLIMPSE and the 2MASS catalogues. Here we present spectra of H3+ and CO towards two such objects, one located 140 pc west of Sgr A*, and the other located on a line of sight to the Sgr B molecular cloud complex 85 pc to the east of Sgr A*. The sightline to the west passes through two dense clouds of unusually high negative velocities and also appears to sample a portion of the expanding molecular ring. The spectra toward Sgr B reveal at least ten absorption components covering over 200 km/s and by far the largest equivalent width ever observed in an interstellar H3+line; they appear to provide the first near-infrared view into that hotbed of star formation.

A Cool Accretion Disk around the Galactic Centre Black Hole

Abstract:A supermassive black hole SgrA* with the mass ~4x10^6 Msun resides at the centre of our galaxy. Building up such a massive black hole within the ~10^10 year lifetime of our galaxy would require a mean accretion rate of ~4x10^-4 Msun/yr. At present, X-ray observations constrain the rate of hot gas accretion at the Bondi radius (10^5 R_Sch = 0.04 pc at 8kpc) to \dot{M}_Bondi ~ 3x10^-6 Msun/yr, and polarization measurements constrain it near the event horizon to \dot{M}_horizon ~ 10^{-8} Msun/yr. A range of models was developed to describe the accretion gas onto an underfed black hole. However, the exact physics still remains to be understood. One challenge with the radiation inefficient accretion flows is that even if one understands the dynamics there is no accepted prescription for associating emissivity (and absorption) with the flow. The other issue is the lack of model-independent probes of accretion flow at intermediate radii (between few and ~ 10^5 R_Sch), i.e. the constraints that do not assume a model of accretion flow as an input parameter. We report detection and imaging of the 10^4 K ionized gas disk within 2x10^4 R_Sch in a mm hydrogen recombination line H30alpha: n = 31 -> 30 at 231.9 GHz using the ALMA. The emission was detected with a double-peaked line profile spanning full width of 2,200 km/s with the approaching and the receding components straddling Sgr A*, each offset from it by 0.11arcsec= 0.004pc. The red-shifted side is displaced to the north-east, while the blue-shifted side is displaced to the south-west. The limit on the total mass of ionized gas estimated from the emission is 10^-4 - 10^-5 Sun at a mean hydrogen density 10^5-10^6 cm^-3, depending upon whether or not we assume the presence of a uniform density disk or an ensemble of orbiting clouds, and the amplification factor of the mm radiation due to the strong background source which is Sgr A* continuum.

Abstract:The vacuum arc is a well-known technique to produce coating with enhanced adhesion and film density. Many cathodic arc deposition systems are actually in use in industry and research. They all work under (high) vacuum conditions in which water vapor pressure is an important source of film contamination, especially in the pulsed arc mode of operation. Here we present a Cathodic Arc system working under Ultra High Vacuum conditions (UHVCA). UHVCA has been used to produce ultra-pure niobium films with excellent structural and electrical properties at a deposition temperature lower than 100oC. The UHVCA technique therefore opens new perspectives for all applications requiring ultra-pure films or, as in the case of Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation, ultra-pure plasmas.

Abstract:The motion of S2, one of the stars closest to the Galactic Centre, has been measured accurately and used to study the compact object at the centre of the Milky Way. It is commonly accepted that this object is a supermassive black hole but the nature of its environment is open to discussion. Here, we investigate the possibility that dark matter in the form of an ultralight scalar field ``cloud'' clusters around Sgr~A*. We use the available data for S2 to perform a Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis and find the best-fit estimates for a scalar cloud structure. Our results show no substantial evidence for such structures. When the cloud size is of the order of the size of the orbit of S2, we are able to constrain its mass to be smaller than $0.1\%$ of the central mass, setting a strong bound on the presence of new fields in the galactic centre.

Abstract:We present large-scale submm observations towards the Sgr A Complex covering ~300 arcmin2. These data were obtained in the frame of the HEXGAL Program with the Herschel-HIFI satellite and are complemented with submm observations obtained with the NANTEN2/SMART telescope as part of the NANTEN2/SMART Central Nuclear Zone Survey. The observed species are CO(4-3) observed with the NANTEN2/SMART telescope, and [CI](1-0), [CI](2-1), [NII](1-0), and [CII](3/2-1/2) observed with the Herschel-HIFI satellite. The observations are presented in a 1 km/s spectral resolution and a spatial resolution ranging from 46" to 28". The spectral coverage of the three lower frequency lines is +-200 km/s, while in the two high frequency lines, the upper LSR velocity limit is +94 km/s and +145 km/s for the [NII] and [CII] lines, respectively. The spatial distribution of the emission in all lines is very widespread. The bulk of the CO emission is found towards Galactic latitudes below the Galactic plane, and all the known molecular clouds are identified. Both neutral atomic carbon lines have their brightest emission associated with the +50 km/s cloud. Their spatial distribution at this LSR velocity describes a crescent-shape structure, which is probably the result of interaction with the energetic event (one or several supernovae explosions) that gave origin to the non-thermal Sgr A-East source. The [CII] and [NII] emissions have most of their flux associated with the thermal Arched-Filaments and the H Region and bright spots in [CII] emission towards the Central Nuclear Disk (CND) are detected. Warm Gas at very high (|Vlsr| > 100 km/s) LSR velocities is also detected towards the line of sight to the Sgr A Complex, and it is most probably located outside the region, in the X1 orbits.

Abstract:Molecular clouds in the Galactic center (GC) reprocess radiation from past outbursts of nearby high-energy sources, generating a bright Fe K-alpha fluorescence at 6.4 keV. The closest clouds to the GC are only $\simeq 1.5$ pc from Sgr A*, forming a torus-like structure known as the circumnuclear disk (CND). The study of fluorescence emission can lead to a characterization of the illuminating source(s), the reflecting clouds, and the global geometry of such a system lying in the GC. The primary purpose of our study is to analyze possible fluorescence signals arising in the CND. This signal would allow us to constrain the CND's physical properties and the source-reflector system's geometry. By exploiting the last $\simeq 20$ years of XMM-Newton observations of the GC, we studied the variability of the Fe K-alpha line in the region around Sgr A*. We identified regions with a flux excess and computed the spectrum therein. We then derived the hydrogen column density of the CND after relating the intensity of the 6.4 keV line to the total energy emitted by known transient sources in the region. Starting from data collected in 2019, we find significant line excesses in a region compatible with the eastern portion of the CND. The echo radiation can be linked to the 2013 outburst of the magnetar SGR J1745-2900. We derive a mean effective hydrogen column density of the CND in the eastern region of $\simeq 10^{23}$ cm$^{-2}$. The scenario depicted is physically plausible, given the luminosity, the position of the illuminating source, and the expected density of the CND.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Studies of spatial distribution, kinematics, and physical structure of dense molecular gas in the centres of galaxies is crucial in understanding the nature of physical processes, especially those related to active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and starbursts, in the vicinity of central massive black holes. However, our current understanding of dense gas in the circumnuclear discs (CND) remains limited, particularly those around AGNs. Here-, we report high-resolution deep observations of the CS (3−2), HC3N (15−14), H2CO (2−1), CH3CCN (8−7), CO (1−0), and (3−2) lines, toward the central region (R ∼ 0.4 kpc) of the nearest Seyfert-2 galaxy, the Circinus galaxy, using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array. The dense molecular gas traced by CS (3−2) and HC3N (15−14) exhibit an asymmetric and cloud structure, which is in sharp contrast against the symmetric low-density structure traced by CO (1−0). Four molecular cloud structures surrounding the AGN, which have a typical size of ∼ 20 pc, are detected with the optically thin HC3N (15−14) line. HC3N (15−14)/CO (1−0) line ratio in the CND is found to be higher than that in the nuclear region, indicating that the bulk of dense gas accumulates in the CND, instead of the nucleus. HC3N (15−14) line and optically thick tracers in four molecular clouds, provide a good comparison between density layers and show evidence for a density stratification of the CND.

Abstract:The complex physical, kinematic, and chemical properties of galaxy centres make them interesting environments to examine with molecular line emission. We present new 2 − 4″ (∼75 − 150 pc at 7.7 Mpc) observations at 2 and 3 mm covering the central 50″ (∼1.9 kpc) of the nearby double-barred spiral galaxy NGC 6946 obtained with the IRAM Plateau de Bure Interferometer. We detect spectral lines from ten molecules: CO, HCN, HCO + , HNC, CS, HC 3 N, N 2 H + , C 2 H, CH 3 OH, and H 2 CO. We complemented these with published 1 mm CO observations and 33 GHz continuum observations to explore the star formation rate surface density Σ SFR on 150 pc scales. In this paper, we analyse regions associated with the inner bar of NGC 6946 – the nuclear region (NUC), the northern (NBE), and southern inner bar end (SBE) and we focus on short-spacing corrected bulk (CO) and dense gas tracers (HCN, HCO + , and HNC). We find that HCO + correlates best with Σ SFR , but the dense gas fraction ( f dense ) and star formation efficiency of the dense gas (SFE dense ) fits show different behaviours than expected from large-scale disc observations. The SBE has a higher Σ SFR , f dense , and shocked gas fraction than the NBE. We examine line ratio diagnostics and find a higher CO(2−1)/CO(1−0) ratio towards NBE than for the NUC. Moreover, comparison with existing extragalactic datasets suggests that using the HCN/HNC ratio to probe kinetic temperatures is not suitable on kiloparsec and sub-kiloparsec scales in extragalactic regions. Lastly, our study shows that the HCO + /HCN ratio might not be a unique indicator to diagnose AGN activity in galaxies.

ALMA Detection of Extreme Blue-Shifted Ionized Gas Within 0.2 pc of Sgr A* from -480 to -300 km/s

Abstract:We have used the capabilities of ALMA to probe the ionized gas towards the Galactic center with the H30alpha mm hydrogen recombination line within 30'' of the Galaxy's dynamical center. The observations are made with spatial and spectral resolutions of 0.46'' X 0.35'' and 3 km/s, respectively. Multiple compact and extended sources are detected in the mini-cavity region with extreme negative radial velocities ranging from -480 to -300 km/s, 2-3'' (0.08-0.12 pc) from Sgr A*. This is the highest radial velocity of ionized gas detected beyond the inner 1'' of Sgr A*. This new component is kinematically isolated from the orbiting ionized gas. The detected gas has a velocity gradient ranging from -50 to -200 km/s per arcsecond located to the southwest of Sgr A* at a position angle of roughly -160 degrees. Previous proper motion measurements in the immediate vicinity of these extreme high-velocity ionized components have been measured and show transverse velocities that range from 313 - 865 km/s. If we assume that they are associated with each other, then the total velocity implies these components are gravitationally unbound. In addition, we report the kinematics of cometary radio and infrared sources. These sources are diagonally distributed with a position angle of roughly 50 degrees within 14'' of Sgr A*. We interpret the highly blue-shifted features to the SW where the mini-cavity is located and red-shifted cometary sources to the NE in terms of the interaction of a collimated outflow with an opening angle of roughly 30 degrees. An expected mass outflow rate of 2E-7 or 4E-5 solar mass per yr is estimated by a relativistic jet-driven outflow or collimated stellar winds, respectively.

Abstract:In 2013, NuSTAR observed the Sgr B2 region and for the first time resolved its hard X-ray emission on subarcminute scales. Two prominent features are detected above 10 keV:. a newly emerging cloud, G0.66-0.13, and the central 90 '' radius region containing two compact cores, Sgr B2(M) and Sgr B2(N), surrounded by diffuse emission. It is inconclusive whether the remaining level of Sgr. B2 emission is still decreasing or has reached a constant background level. A decreasing X-ray emission can be best explained by the X-ray reflection nebula scenario, where the cloud reprocesses a past giant outburst from Sgr A(star). In the X-ray reflection nebula (XRN) scenario, the 3-79 keV Sgr. B2 spectrum allows us to self-consistently test the XRN model using both the Fe K alpha line and the continuum emission. The peak luminosity of the past Sgr A(star) outburst is constrained to L3-79keV similar to 5 x 10(38) ergs s(-1). A newly discovered cloud feature, G0.66-0.13, shows different timing variability. We suggest that it could be a molecular clump located in the Sgr B2 envelope reflecting the same Sgr A(star) outburst. In contrast, if the Sgr. B2 X-ray emission has reached a constant background level, it would imply an origin of low-energy cosmic-ray (CR) proton bombardment. In this scenario, from the NuSTAR measurements we infer a CR ion power of dW/dt = (1 - 4) x 10(39) erg s(-1) and a CR ionization rate of zeta(H) = (6 - 10) x 10(-15) H-1 s(-1). measurements can become powerful tools to constrain the GC CR population.
Molecular Gas Toward Supernova Remnant Cassiopeia A

Abstract:We mapped (CO)-C-12 J= 1-0, (CO)-C-12 J= 2-1, (CO)-C-13 J= 1-0, and (CO)-C-13 J= 2-1 lines toward supernova remnant (SNR) Cassiopeia A with the IRAM 30 m telescope. The molecular clouds (MCs) along the line of sight of Cas A do not show optically thin, shock-broadened (CO)-C-12 lines (Delta V <=, 7 km s(-1) toward Cas A), or high-temperature features from shock heating (T-k <= 22 K toward Cas A). Therefore, we suggest that there is no physical evidence to support that the SNR is impacting the molecular gas. All the detected MCs are likely in front of Cas A, as implied by the HCO+ absorption line detected in the same velocity ranges. These MCs contribute H-2 column densities of 5 x 10(21) cm(-2), 5 x 10(21) Cm-2, and 2 x 10(21) Cm-2 in the west, south, and center of the SNR, respectively. The 20 K warm gas at V-LSR similar to 47 km s(-1) is distributed along a large-scale molecular ridge in the south of Cas A. Part of the gas is projected onto Cas A, providing a foreground H2 mass of similar to 200(d/3 kpc)(2) M-circle dot, consistent with the mass of cold dust (15-20 K; 2-4 M-circle dot) found in front of the SNR. We suggest that the 20 K warm gas is heated by background cosmic rays with an ionization rate of zeta (H-2) similar to 2 x 10(-16) S-1. The cosmic rays and X-ray emission from Cas A are excluded as the heating sources of the clouds.

Abstract:We present a high resolution simulation of an idealized model to explain the origin of the two young, counter-rotating, sub-parsec scale stellar disks around the supermassive black hole SgrA* at the Center of the Milky Way. In our model, the collision of a single molecular cloud with a circum-nuclear gas disk (similar to the one observed presently) leads to multiple streams of gas flowing towards the black hole and creating accretion disks with angular momentum depending on the ratio of cloud and circum-nuclear disk material. The infalling gas creates two inclined, counter-rotating sub-parsec scale accretion disks around the supermassive black hole with the first disk forming roughly 1 Myr earlier, allowing it to fragment into stars and get dispersed before the second, counter-rotating disk forms. Fragmentation of the second disk would lead to the two inclined, counter-rotating stellar disks which are observed at the Galactic Center. A similar event might be happening again right now at the Milky Way Galactic Center. Our model predicts that the collision event generates spiral-like filaments of gas, feeding the Galactic Center prior to disk formation with a geometry and inflow pattern that is in agreement with the structure of the so called mini-spiral that has been detected in the Galactic Center.

Abstract:Star formation in the central molecular zone (CMZ) is suppressed with respect to that of the Galactic disk, and this is likely related to its high turbulent environment. This turbulence impedes the potential detection of prestellar cores. We present the temperature, density, and spatial structure of the CMZ molecular cloud G+0.693-0.027, which has been proposed to host a prestellar cluster in the Sgr B2 region. We analysed multiple HC$_ $N rotational transitions that were observed with the IRAM 30m, APEX, Yebes 40m, and GBT radio telescopes, together with SMA+APEX spatially resolved maps. The spectral shape of HC$_ $N lines shows three distinct velocity components: a broad component with a line width of 23 km s$^ $ (C1), and two narrow components with line widths of 7.2 and 8.8 km s$^ $ (C2 and C3). This suggests that a fraction of the molecular gas in this cloud is undergoing turbulence dissipation. From an initial local thermodynamic equilibrium analysis, we found column densities of $N$= (6.54pm 0.07)times 1014 cm$^ $, (9pm 3)times 1014 cm$^ $, and (3.6pm 0.7)times 1013 cm$^ $ for C1, C2, and C3, respectively. These values were used as input for a subsequent non-local thermodynamic equilibrium analysis, in which we found H$_ $ densities of 2times 104 cm$^ $, 5times 104 cm$^ $, and 4times 105 cm$^ $ and kinetic temperatures of 140 K, 30 K, and 80 K for C1, C2, and C3, respectively. The spatially resolved maps confirm that the colder and high-density condensations C2 and C3, which peak in the 70-85 km s$^ $ velocity range, have deconvolved sizes of 9 pc) and 7.6 (0.3 pc), respectively, and are embedded in a more diffuse and warmer gas (C1). The larger-scale structure of the Sgr B2 region, consistently with previous works, shows a hole at 40--50 km s$^ $ that is likely due to a small cloud that shocked the Sgr B2 region and is spatially related with a massive cloud at 60--80 km s$^ $. We propose that the impacting small cloud sequentially triggered the formation of Sgr B2(M), (N), and (S) and the condensations in G+0.693-0.027 during its passage. The two condensations are in a post-shocked environment that has undergone internal fragmentation. Based on the analysis of their masses and the virial parameters, C2 might expand, while C3 might further fragment or collapse.

ALMA View of the High-velocity-dispersion Compact Cloud CO 0.02-0.02 at the Galactic Center

Abstract:We report the results of observations toward the center of the molecular cloud CO 0.02-0.02 made using the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array. The successfully obtained 1 arcsec resolution images of CO $J$=3-2, H$^{13}$CN $J$=4-3, H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ $J$=4-3, SiO $J$=8-7, CH$_3$OH $J_{K_a, K_c}$ = 7$_{1, 7}$-6$_{1, 6}$ A$^{+}$ lines, and 900 $\mu$m continuum show several new features, which have not been identified in previous observations. The dense gas probe (H$^{13}$CN, SiO, CH$_{3}$OH) images are dominated by a pair of northeast-southwest elongated filaments, which may be the main body of CO 0.02-0.02. Two striped patterns perpendicular to each other (F1 and F2) and a high-velocity feature (HV), which appear in different velocity ranges, were prominent in the CO image. An emission hole that may represent an expanding feature was found in the F1 velocity range. F2 appeared to align along the western edge of a 20 pc $\times$ 13 pc ellipse (the Large Shell) identified in the single-dish CO map. The HV contains eight compact clumps at the positive high-velocity end of the CO emissions. Based on these results, we propose a formation scenario for CO 0.02-0.02; internal explosions of supernovae, external perturbations by the Large Shell, and gravitational acceleration by a less luminous star cluster have formed CO 0.02-0.02 in its current state.

Abstract:The expanding molecular ring (EMR) manifests itself as a parallelogram in the position-velocity diagram of spectral line emission from the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) surrounding the Galactic centre (GC). It is a high velocity ($ V_ LSR extended molecular gas structure. The formation of the EMR is believed to be associated with the bar driven inflow onto the nuclear region of the Galaxy. The physical and chemical properties, as well as the evolution of the EMR and its connection to other GC clouds and the CMZ as a whole, are not yet fully comprehended. Using multiwavelength data, we investigate the gas kinematics, star formation activity, and the presence of shocked gas in a 200 pc long high velocity gas stream (V$_ LSR with a double helix morphology named the helix stream, that is located 15--55 pc above the CMZ ($l $b and is kinematically associated with the EMR/parallelogram. To study the kinematics of the helix stream, we used 13CO ($J=2-1$) data from the SEDIGISM survey and 12CO ($J=1-0$) archival data from the Nobeyama telescope. Additional multiwavelength archival data from infrared to radio wavelengths were used to investigate the star formation activity. We carried out molecular line observations using the IRAM 30m, Yebes 40m, and APEX 12m telescopes. The detection of four rotational transitions of the SiO molecule ($J=$ 1--0, 2--1, 5--4, 7--6) indicate the presence of shocks. We derived the SiO column densities and abundances in different regions of the helix stream using the rotational diagram method. We also performed non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) modelling of the SiO emission to analyse the excitation conditions of the shocked gas. The presence of clumps with submillimetre continuum emission from dust and a candidate region signify the ongoing star formation activity within the helix stream. The cloud is massive ($2.5 M$_ and highly turbulent ($ V mean We find evidence of cloud-cloud collisions towards the eastern edge ($l suggesting a dynamic interaction with the CMZ. An expanding shell is detected within the cloud with radius of 6.7 pc and an expansion velocity of 35 The shell might be powered by several supernovae or a single hypernova. The relative abundance of SiO within the helix stream with respect to H$_2$ implies extensive shock processes occurring on large scales ($X$(SiO) $ $). The helical or cork-screw velocity structure observed within the individual strands of the helix stream indicates twisting and turning motions occurring within the cloud. We propose that the helix stream is the continuation of the near side bar lane, that is overshooting after ``brushing'' the CMZ and interacting with it at the location of the G1.3 cloud. This interpretation finds support both from numerical simulations and prior observational studies of the CMZ. Our findings carry profound implications for understanding star formation in extreme conditions and they elucidate the intricate properties of gas and dust associated with nuclear inflows in barred spiral galaxies.

Abstract:The dark compact object at the centre of the Milky Way is well established to be a supermassive black hole with mass $M_{\bullet} \sim 4.3 \cdot 10^6 \, M_{\odot}$, but the nature of its environment is still under debate. In this work, we used astrometric and spectroscopic measurements of the motion of the star S2, one of the closest stars to the massive black hole, to determine an upper limit on an extended mass composed of a massive vector field around Sagittarius A*. For a vector with effective mass $10^{-19} \, \rm eV \lesssim m_s \lesssim 10^{-18} \, \rm eV$, our Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis shows no evidence for such a cloud, placing an upper bound $M_{\rm cloud} \lesssim 0.1\% M_{\bullet}$ at $3\sigma$ confidence level. We show that dynamical friction exerted by the medium on S2 motion plays no role in the analysis performed in this and previous works, and can be neglected thus.

Abstract:We present high spatial resolution ($\approx24$ pc) Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array $^{12}$CO(2-1) observations of the central region of the nearby barred spiral galaxy NGC 5806. NGC 5806 has a highly structured molecular gas distribution with a clear nucleus, a nuclear ring and offset dust lanes. We identify $170$ spatially- and spectrally-resolved giant molecular clouds (GMCs). These clouds have comparable sizes ($R_{\mathrm{c}}$) and larger gas masses, observed linewidths ($\sigma_{\mathrm{obs,los}}$) and gas mass surface densities than those of clouds in the Milky Way disc. The size -- linewidth relation of the clouds is one of the steepest reported so far ($\sigma_{\mathrm{obs,los}}\propto R_{\mathrm{c}}^{1.20}$), the clouds are on average only marginally bound (with a mean virial parameter $\langle\alpha_{\mathrm{vir}}\rangle\approx2$), and high velocity dispersions are observed in the nuclear ring. These behaviours are likely due to bar-driven gas shocks and inflows along the offset dust lanes, and we infer an inflow velocity of $\approx120$ kms$^{-1}$ and a total molecular gas mass inflow rate of $\approx5$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$ into the nuclear ring. The observed internal velocity gradients of the clouds are consistent with internal turbulence. The number of clouds in the nuclear ring decreases with azimuthal angle downstream from the dust lanes without clear variation of cloud properties. This is likely due to the estimated short lifetime of the clouds ($\approx6$ Myr), which appears to be mainly regulated by cloud-cloud collision and/or shear processes. Overall, it thus seems that the presence of the large-scale bar and gas inflows to the centre of NGC 5806 affect cloud properties.
