Abstract:Background: Intussusception is a prevalent pediatric issue causing acute abdominal pain, with potential links to rotavirus vaccines. The variety of these vaccines has grown in recent years. This meta-analysis study aims to evaluate the impact of various rotavirus vaccines on intussusception incidence. Methods: We executed a thorough search across databases like PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science, leading to the selection of 15 credible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that encompass various types of rotavirus vaccines. From each study, we extracted essential details such as vaccine types and intussusception occurrences. We assessed the risk of bias using the Cochrane Collaboration's tool, conducted statistical analysis with R (version 4.2.3), determined relative risk (RR) using a random effects model, and performed a subgroup analysis for vaccines of differing brands and types. Results: We included 15 randomized controlled studies from various countries. While intussusception incidence differed between vaccinated and control groups, this difference was not statistically significant. The overall risk ratio (RR), calculated using a random effects model, was 0.81, with a 95% confidence interval of [0.53, 1.23]. This crossing 1 shows that vaccination didn't notably change disease risk. Additionally, the 0% group heterogeneity suggests consistency across studies, strengthening our conclusions. Subgroup analysis for different vaccine brands and types (RV1 (Rotarix, Rotavac, RV3-BB), RV3 (LLR3), RV5 (RotasiiL, RotaTeq), and RV6) showed no significant variation in intussusception incidence. Despite variations in RR among subgroups, these differences were not statistically significant ( P > 0.05). Conclusions: Our study indicates that rotavirus vaccination does not significantly increase the incidence of intussusception. Despite varying impacts across different vaccine brands and types, these variations are insignificant. Given the substantial benefits outweighing the risks, promoting the use of newly developed rotavirus vaccines remains highly valuable. [Analysis of Clinical Characteristics of 126 Children with Recurrent Intussusception].

Abstract:Objective: To analyze and summarize the clinical features in children with recurrent intussusception. Methods: This retrospective cohort study collected the clinical data of 126 children with recurrent intussusception who were admitted to the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine due to "abdominal pain, paroxysmal crying, vomiting, bloody stools" from January 1, 2015 to November 30, 2019. The clinical manifestations of recurrent intussusception between ≤3 years old group and >3 years old group were compared, the etiology and age characteristics of pathologic lead points (PLP) were analyzed, and the clinical characteristics of PLP group and non-PLP group were also compared. The χ2 test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to compare the differences between groups. Results: A total of 126 children with recurrent intussusception were included, of whom 76 were males and 50 were females, with the age of 2.9 (1.7, 5.1) years. The proportion of children aged more than 1 year was 87.3% (110/126), and 48.4% (61/126) more than 3 years. Clinical manifestations mostly lacked the typical triad of symptoms. The percentage of paroxysmal crying in ≤ 3 years old group was significantly higher than that in >3 years old group (52.3% (34/65) vs. 24.6% (15/61), χ2=10.17, P=0.001), while the percentage of abdominal pain was significantly lower than that in the >3 years old group (46.1% (30/65) vs. 75.4% (46/61), χ2=11.25, P=0.001). The rate of positive ultrasound examination was 17.5% (22/126), and 63.6% (14/22) of them were diagnosed. The positive rate of CT examination was 4/13, of which 2 cases were diagnosed. In this study, 37 children were diagnosed with PLP by colonoscopy, laparoscopy or laparotomy, and 89 children were found without PLP. The positive rate of PLP in >3 years old group was significantly higher than that in ≤3 years old group (37.7% (23/61) vs. 21.5% (14/65), χ2=3.96, P=0.046). Meckel's diverticulum and juvenile polyp were the main contributors of PLP in ≤3 years old group, accounting for 7/14 and 3/14 respectively, while lymphoma and juvenile polyp accounted for 34.8% (8/23) and 26.1% (6/23), respectively in >3 years old group. Compared with non-PLP group, PLP group had higher age (5.2 (1.6, 6.7) vs. 2.7 (1.8, 4.2) years, Z=-2.26, P=0.01). However, there were no significant differences in gender and recurrence frequency between the two groups (both P>0.05). Conclusions: Recurrent intussusception is more common in children more than 1 year old, and has a wide spectrum of non-specific clinical presentations. Imaging examinations can be used to identify PLP. The most recurrent intussusception is idiopathic, but the presence of PLP should be alerted for, such as Meckel's diverticulum, lymphoma and juvenile polyp. Colonoscopy sometimes is necessary, surgical exploration and treatment should be carried out in time.
Risk Of Intussusception After Rotavirus Vaccination: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Background: Rotavirus vaccines (RVs) are commonly used in children in the clinical setting. However, increasing concerns on its association with intussusception have been reported, with controversial outcomes. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search of Medline, Pubmed and Embase. Children less than one year old vaccinated with RV1 and/or RV5 rotavirus vaccine were used as inclusion criteria. Results: 8 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Vaccines under studies were RV1 and RV5. Overall, there was an association between immunization and risk for developing intussusception: the overall estimate of relative risk (RR) of intussusception during the 7 days after dose 1 and/or dose 2 of RV1 and/or RV5 respectively was: 5.31 (95% confidence interval (CI): 3.22-8.74), P < 0.0001; 1.93 (95% CI: 1.43-2.61), P < 0.0001; 4.56 (95% CI: 3.05-6.82), P < 0.0001; 1.69 (95% CI: 1.18-2.40), P = 0.004. Sensitivity analysis showed that the significances of pooled estimates of RR stay unchanged when a single study was excluded for both vaccines and two doses. Conclusions: There is a significant increased risk of developing intussusception after immunization with RV during the first 7 days. Similarly increased risk pattern of intussusception for both vaccines are found where post-dose 1 has more risk compared to post-dose 2.

Abstract:Surveillance for intussusception is a post marketing requirement for rotavirus vaccines following observation of a small increased risk of intussusception after rotavirus vaccination in some global settings. This study presents the clinical presentation and outcomes of children who presented with intussusception at a large tertiary care facility directly (non-surveillance) as retrospective analysis of a period where rotavirus vaccine was not in routine use, or as part of active surveillance in a phase III oral rotavirus vaccine trial. Hospital records of children under 2 years of age treated for intussusception between 1 January 2010 and 31 August 2013 at the Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, India, were reviewed. Sixty-one cases of intussusception in children under two years of age presented at the hospital. An additional 16 cases of ultrasound diagnosed intussusception were identified through the active surveillance of a cohort of 1500 children participating in a rotavirus phase III trial in the same period. In the nonsurveillance group, median age at presentation was 214 days (IQR 153-321) with 52 events (85.3%) occurring in the first year of life. Cases were seen year-round with no definitive evidence of seasonality. Thirty-one (50.8%) intussusceptions required surgical reduction, 26 (42.6%) had pneumatic reduction and 2 (3.3%) barium enema reduction. Two intussusceptions (3.3%) resolved spontaneously. There were no deaths, all children were discharged after recovery. Active surveillance identified 16 children with a median age at event of 375 days (IQR 248-574). Nine (56%) children had small bowel or transient intussusception that resolved spontaneously. Seven intussusceptions were reduced radiologically; none required surgery. In summary, there were significant differences between presentation and outcomes in cases of intussusception identified by passive and active surveillance, likely related to enhanced and early detection of intussusception through active monitoring in the trial. The WHO recommendation of sentinel hospital based surveillance for post-marketing surveillance after rotavirus vaccine introduction is likely to a better approach than active surveillance.

Abstract:<span>The etiology of intussusception (IS), a serious gastrointestinal obstruction, remains unclear. Limited evidence suggests a role for viral infection. We investigated the risk of IS after rotavirus gastroenteritis (RV GE) in the first year of life. In this retrospective, self-controlled case series (SCCS), we assessed the risk of IS after RV GE using data from United States administrative claims databases. Incidence rate ratios (IRR) of IS were calculated for the 7- and 21-day risk periods after RV GE (main analysis) or after fracture (sensitivity analysis). A total of 290,912,068 subjects were screened; 42 presented claims for RV GE and IS, and 66 for fracture and IS. The IRRs of IS after RV GE were 79.6 (95% confidence interval, CI: 38.6–164.4) and 25.5 (95% CI: 13.2–49.2) in the 7- and 21-day risk periods. The sensitivity analysis showed an association between IS and fracture for both periods, suggesting potential confounding. Post-hoc analyses did not confirm the association between fracture and IS but suggested a potential association between RV GE and IS. A temporal association between RV GE and IS was detected using claims databases. Due to some limitations of the data sources, this association should be further investigated.</span>

[Effective access to health services: operationalizing universal health coverage].

Abstract:The right to health and its operational form, as an organized social response to health: the right to health protection, are the mainstay for the global push towards universal health coverage. The path to achieve this goal is particular to each country and relates to the baseline and specific context in relation to what is feasible. In practical terms, universal coverage involves the correlation between demand and supply of services (promotion, prevention, and care), expressed by the ability for each individual to make use of services when these are required. In those terms universal coverage is then effective access. The objective of the paper is to explore the conceptualization of effective access to health services and propose a definition that allows its operationalization thereof. This definition considers key elements of supply and demand of services, including the availability of resources and adequate provision (quality), as well as barriers to use them.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: In January 2018, Afghanistan introduced the monovalent oral rotavirus vaccine (Rotarix) nationwide, administered as a 2-dose series at six and ten weeks of age. We describe characteristics of intussusception cases and assess potential intussusception risk associated with Rotarix vaccination in Afghan infants.METHODS: Multi-center prospective active hospital-based surveillance for intussusception was conducted from May 2018 to March 2022 in four sentinel sites in Afghanistan. We applied the Brighton Level 1 criteria for intussusception and verified vaccination status by reviewing vaccine cards. We used the self-controlled case series (SCCS) methodology to compare intussusception incidence in the 1 to 21 days after each dose of Rotarix vaccination against non-risk periods.RESULTS: A total of 468 intussusception cases were identified in infants under 12 months, with 264 cases aged between 28 and 245 days having confirmed vaccination status contributing to the SCCS analysis. Most case-patients (98 %) required surgery for treatment, and over half (59 %) of those who underwent surgery required intestinal resection. Nineteen (7 %) case-patients died. Eighty-six percent of case-patients received the first dose of Rotarix, and 69 % received the second dose before intussusception symptom onset. There was no increased risk of intussusception in the 1-7 days (relative incidence: 0.9, 95 % CI: 0.1, 7.5), 8-21 days (1.3, 95 % CI: 0.4, 4.2), or 1-21 days (1.1, 95 % CI: 0.4, 3.4) following receipt of the first dose or in the 1-7 days (0.2, 95 % CI: 0.3, 1.8), 8-21 days (0.7, 95 % CI: 0.3, 1.5), or 1-21 days (0.6, 95 % CI: 0.3, 1.2) following the second dose.CONCLUSION: Rotarix vaccination was not associated with an increased intussusception risk, supporting its continued use in Afghanistan's immunization program. However, there was a high level of death and resection due to intussusception among Afghan infants.

Abstract:Rotavirus vaccines carry a small risk of intussusception mainly 1–7 days after vaccination in the United States of America, Europe, Australia, and Latin America where the background rate of intussusception is relatively low. Such risks are undetectable in Africa and India where the background rate is the lowest. Because few studies were carried out in high-background-rate countries such as Japan, we examined how intussusception occurred in infants living in Akita prefecture, Japan, while the vaccines were sold in the private market. Between 2011 and 2018, an estimated 21,677 infants (46%) were vaccinated and 54% were not. Through a retrospective survey of medical records in 18 hospitals in the prefecture, we identified 58 infants, 28 of whom were vaccinated and 30 of whom were unvaccinated, as having intussusception that met level 1 of the Brighton criteria. Thus, the intussusception rate was 123 per 100,000 infant-years (95% confidence interval [CI]: 94–160). Despite the high rate, none developed intussusception 1–7 days after the first dose of either the monovalent human rotavirus vaccine (GSK) or the pentavalent human–bovine reassortant vaccine (MSD). The incidence rate ratio of vaccinated to unvaccinated infants between 42 and 245 days of life was estimated at 0.96 (95%CI: 0.43–2.1; p = 0.92). Given that over 95% of infants received the first dose before 15 weeks of age, the risk of intussusception associated with the rotavirus vaccines in high-incidence-rate countries can be reduced to a minimum by adhering to the recommended schedule at 2, 3, and 4 months of age.

Abstract:Objective: This study aims to retrospectively analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of acute intussusception in a tertiary-care pediatric hospital in China over 4 years and evaluate the effectiveness and recurrence of fluoroscopy-guided pneumatic reduction (FGPR) and ultrasound-guided hydrostatic reduction (UGHR). Methods: This retrospective study was conducted from January 2019 to December 2022 involving children admitted and managed for acute intussusception in a tertiary-care pediatric hospital in China. The epidemiology, clinical features, and therapeutic effects were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0. Results: The study included 401 boys (68.43%) and 185 girls (31.57%) aged from 2 months to 12 years. The most common symptoms reported were abdominal pain or paroxysmal crying (95.73%), vomiting (45.39%), and bloody stool (7.34%). Vomiting and bloody stool became atypical with increasing age ( P < 0.001). The total success cases of reduction accounted for 563 cases (96.08%), and the recurrent cases accounted for 71 cases (12.12%). No significant difference was observed in the success or recurrence rates between FGPR and UGHR ( P > 0.05). Abdominal pain was an independent protective factor for successful enema ( P < 0.01, OR = 72.46), while bloody stool ( P < 0.01, OR = 0.06) and older age were independent risk factors ( P < 0.001, OR = 0.51). Of the 71 patients with recurrent intussusception, 29 were successfully reduced by enema, and the other 23 required surgical reduction. Twelve of the surgical cases were secondary intussusception, including three cases of Meckel's diverticulum, five cases of polyps, and four cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Conclusion: The epidemiological characteristics of children with intussusception in Xiamen showed peculiarity with a higher male-to-female ratio, older age at diagnosis, and no significant seasonality. Both FGPR and UGHR were effective and safe for intussusception, and surgical reduction was essential for patients with failed enema reduction.

Abstract:<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Background</h3><p>Since 2006, two rotavirus vaccines have been licensed in Taiwan, either as a 2- (RV1) or 3-dose (RV5) schedule administered at ages 2, 4, and 6 months. This study assessed the risk of intussusception and Kawasaki disease (KD) associated with rotavirus vaccines among infants.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Methods</h3><p>Cases of intussusception and KD in infants aged less than 365 days were identified from the National Health Insurance databases, from 1 January 2007 through 31 December 2014, using the first-ever ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes. Histories of rotavirus vaccination were obtained from the National Immunization Information System. The modified self-controlled case series design included vaccinated cases, and compared incidence rate ratios (IRRs) between the risk period (postvaccination days 1–21 [intussusception] or days 1–28 [KD]) and control period (ages 0–364 days outside the −14 to +21 [intussusception] or +28 [KD] days of vaccination) by each type and dose of vaccine. Conditional Poisson regression models were adjusted for age using age-in-week (7-day) categorization.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Results</h3><p>Overall 4339 intussusception cases and 4321 KD cases were diagnosed in 567,726 recipients (5313 [0.9%] received both RV5 and RV1). An increase in intussusception risk was observed in the 1–7 days (IRR 12.59, 95% confidence interval [CI] 8.07–19.66) and 8–21 days (IRR 1.78, 95% CI 1.00–3.16) post dose 1 of RV1, but not RV5. Risk of KD was higher during the third week post dose 2 of RV5 (IRR 2.33, 95% CI 1.35–4.00), and fourth week post dose 1 of RV1 (IRR 1.98, 95% CI 1.16–3.40).</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Conclusion</h3><p>Our finding of an increased risk of intussusception associated with RV1 in the first week after dose 1 is consistent with results of previous postlicensure studies. Further research should verify a potentially delayed risk of KD after rotavirus vaccination.</p>

Attitudes and Beliefs towards Rotavirus Vaccination in a Sample of Italian Women: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract:(1) Background: Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhea and dehydration in infants and young children worldwide. Despite the proven benefits of vaccination, vaccine hesitancy and refusal remains a significant barrier to achieving high vaccination coverage in many countries, such as Italy. (2) Methods: An online survey was conducted among women aged between 18 and 50 years from Abruzzo Region, Italy. The survey was composed of two main sections: demographic characteristics and attitudes and knowledge about rotavirus vaccination, based on a five-point Likert scale. Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate factors associated with willingness to get the rotavirus vaccination. (3) Results: A total of 414 women were enrolled in the study. Women who were unaware of rotavirus more frequently had a lower education level (university degree 62.5% vs. 78.7%, p = 0.004) and reported having no children (p < 0.001). About half of the enrolled women thought that rotavirus infection is dangerous (190, 55.6%) and that rotavirus can cause a serious illness (201, 58.8%). Regarding associated factors, women informed by a physician were more likely get a vaccination compared to women informed by friends or relatives (OR 34.35, 95% CI 7.12-98.98, p < 0.001). (4) Conclusions: The present study showed low levels of knowledge and attitudes towards rotavirus vaccination. These results highlight the need for developing and improving additional public education programs for parents.

Abstract:Rotavirus (RV) infection is a leading cause of severe diarrhea among children younger than 5 years old and a considerable cause of RV gastroenteritis (RVGE) hospitalization. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of vaccination in Italy in the reduction of the burden of RV-related disease, estimating the relation between vaccination coverage and hospitalization rates. RVGE-related hospitalizations that occurred in Italy from 2008 to 2018 among children aged 0-35 months were assessed by consulting the Hospital Discharge Record database and including records whose ICD-9-CM diagnosis code was 008.61 in the first or in any diagnosis position. In the 2008-2018 period, a total of 17 535 791 at-risk person-years were considered and 74 211 (423.2 cases × 100 000 per year) RVGE hospitalizations were observed. Higher hospitalization rates occurred in males (456.6 vs. 387.9 × 100 000 per year) and in children aged 1 year (507.8 × 100 000 per year). Poisson regression analysis showed a decrease of -1.25% in hospitalization rates (-1.19% to -1.31%, p < 0.001) per unit increase in vaccination coverage. This is the first study that correlates hospitalization rate reduction with a percentage increase in vaccination coverage. Our findings strongly support RV vaccination as an effective public health strategy for reducing RVGE-related hospitalizations.

Abstract:Intussusception, a common cause of abdominal pain in children, often lacks clear underlying causes and is mostly idiopathic. Recurrence, though rare, raises clinical concerns, with rates escalating after each episode. Factors like pathological lead points and Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) are associated with recurrent cases. On the other hand, the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ), often asymptomatic, in children has been declining. Although its infection is reported to be linked with HSP, its role in recurrent intussusception remains unexplored. Further research is needed to understand the interplay among H. pylori (culprit pathogen), HSP (trigger), and intractable intussusception so as to develop effective management strategies.

Abstract:This study was designed to investigate the knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors about rotavirus infection and its vaccination in a sample of parents in Naples, Italy. The survey was conducted between June and December 2018 among parents of children aged 3 months to 3 years. A total of 40.7% of the study subjects declared that they had heard about rotavirus infection and 60.8% and 59.2% were aware about the vaccination and of its availability in Italy. Parents with a child aged <1 year and those who reported the physicians as source of information were more likely to have heard about rotavirus infection and to know that the vaccination is available in Italy. More than half (56.4%) were worried that their children could have a rotavirus gastroenteritis and this was most likely to occur in those who have heard about rotavirus infection. Only 15.3% declared that they had immunized their children against rotavirus infection. Parents who considered it dangerous for their children to contract the rotavirus gastroenteritis, those who considered the rotavirus vaccine useful, and those who had received information by physicians were more likely to have vaccinated their children against the infection. More than half of the parents who did not immunize their children expressed their willingness to vaccinate them. Developing and implementing additional public education programs are needed for better knowledge toward rotavirus infection and vaccination and a high coverage among parents.
Diagnosis and treatment of childhood intussusception from 1997 to 2016: A population-based study

Abstract:<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Objectives</h3><p>Describe changes in the diagnostic approach and treatment for pediatric intussusception over two decades.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Study design</h3><p>Administrative universal healthcare data were used to conduct a populationbased cohort study of intussusception between January 1997–December 2016 in Ontario, Canada.</p><p>A validated case definition was used to identify all patients (< 18 years) treated for intussusception in the province at community or tertiary care centers. Treatment modality was determined using physician billing data and databases linked at ICES; it was categorized as nonoperative alone, surgical alone, or failed nonoperative. Descriptive statistics, Cochrane-Armitage for trend analyses, and graphical and multinomial logistic regression were performed.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Results</h3><p>Over 20 years, 1895 pediatric patients were treated for intussusception. Pretreatment imaging use rose from 57.5% to 99.3%. Nonoperative management increased from 23.4% to 75.2%. However, 43% of children who presented to a community hospital underwent immediate surgical management, compared with just 11% of children at tertiary centers (RR 0.39, 95% CI:0.25,0.62). Among children who underwent surgery, there was an increase in bowel resection over time (41.7% to 57.6%).</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Conclusions</h3><p>Over the 20 year period of study, pretreatment imaging became universal, and management shifted from predominantly surgical to nonoperative reduction in Ontario. The rate of surgical intervention remains higher in community versus tertiary centers.</p><p><strong>Level of evidence.</strong></p><p>Treatment Study, III.</p>

Abstract:Background: The etiology of Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) with intussusception remains undefined. Aim: To investigate the risk factors for intussusception in children with HSP and gastrointestinal (GI) involvement. Methods: Sixty children with HSP and concomitant intussusception admitted to the Beijing Children's Hospital of Capital Medical University between January 2006 and December 2018 were enrolled in this study. One hundred pediatric patients with HSP and GI involvement but without intussusception, admitted to the same hospital during the same period, were randomly selected as a control group. The baseline clinical characteristics of all patients, including sex, age of onset, duration of disease, clinical manifestations, laboratory test results, and treatments provided, were assessed. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to identify possible risk factors. Results: The 60 children in the intussusception group comprised 27 girls (45%) and 33 boys (55%) and the 100 children in the non-intussusception group comprised 62 girls (62%) and 38 boys (38%). The median age of all patients were 6 years and 5 mo. Univariate and multiple regression analyses revealed age at onset, not receiving glucocorticoid therapy within 72 h of emergence of GI symptoms, hematochezia, and D-dimer levels as independent risk factors for intussusception in children with HSP (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The four independent risk factors for intussusception in pediatric HSP with GI involvement would be a reference for early prevention and treatment of this potentially fatal disease.
Rotavirus Vaccination and the Risk of Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Rotavirus vaccination has been proven to effectively protect against rotavirus gastroenteritis. However, there are concerns about the relationship between rotavirus vaccination and the risk of autoimmune disorders. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to comprehensively assess the association between rotavirus vaccination and type 1 diabetes (T1D) or celiac disease (CD) risk.A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the type 1 diabetes or celiac disease associated with rotavirus vaccination. The following journal databases were searched to identify potential studies for inclusion: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases.Seven articles involving more than 5,793,055 children were included. Our results showed that rotavirus vaccination does not alter the subsequent risk of T1D (RR 0.94, 95% CI: 0.82-1.09) or CD (RR 0.86, 95% CI: 0.64-1.17) after vaccination. Furthermore, the risk of T1D was not increased or decreased for children fully exposed to rotavirus vaccination (RR 0.86, 95% CI, 0.54-1.36) and for children partially exposed to rotavirus vaccination (RR 1.05, 95% CI, 0.87-1.26). However, younger (<5 years) vaccinated children at the end of study (RR 0.84, 95% CI = 0.75-0.95) may be at a lower risk for T1D than older (≥5 years) vaccinated children (RR 0.93, 95% CI, 0.81-1.07).The findings of this study suggest that rotavirus vaccination does not appear to be associated with T1D or CD in children. The protective effect of rotavirus vaccination on T1D may be presented by time dependent.
