Abstract:Lead halide‐based perovskites solar cells (PSCs) are intriguing candidates for photovoltaic technology due to their high efficiency, low cost, and simple fabrication processes. Currently, PSCs with efficiencies of >25% are mainly based on methylammonium (MA)‐free and bromide (Br) free, formamide lead iodide (FAPbI3)‐based perovskites, because MA is thermally unstable due to its volatile nature and Br incorporation will induce blue shift in the absorption spectrum. Therefore, MA‐free, Br‐free formamidine‐based perovskites are drawing huge research attention in recent years. The hole transporting layer (HTL) is crucial in fabricating highly efficient and stable inverted p‐i‐n structured PSCs by enhancing charge extraction, lowering interfacial recombination, and altering band alignment, etc. Here, this work employs a NiOx/PTAA bi‐layer HTL combined with GuHCl (guanidinium hydrochloride) additive engineering and PEAI (phenylethylammonium iodide) passivation strategy to optimize the charge carrier dynamics and tune defects chemistry in the MA‐free, Br‐free RbCsFAPbI3‐based perovskite absorber, which boosts the device efficiency up to 22.78%. Additionally, the device retains 95% of its initial performance under continuous 1 sun equivalent LED light illumination at 45 °C for up to 500 h.

Abstract:This pioneering simulation study explores the potential of perovskite materials, particularly the non-toxic methyl ammonium tin iodide (MASnI 3 ), in solar cell technology. The investigation focuses on eco-friendly, solution-processed compounds—specifically, WO 3 and In 2 S 3 as Electron Transport Layers (ETL) and MoO 3 and WSe 2 as Hole Transport Layer (HTL)—to develop planar n-i-p MASnI 3 perovskite solar cell (PSC) devices. WO 3 is chosen for its solution processing and high electron mobility, while In 2 S 3 offers n-type properties, superior carrier mobility, non-toxicity, and thermal durability. MoO 3 and WSe 2 are selected as HTLs for their efficient charge transport capabilities. Utilizing the solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS-1D) software, the study systematically evaluates alternative charge-selective materials, considering various parameters such as thickness (0.1 μm to 1.5 μm for absorber and 0.1 μm to 0.35 μm for CTLs), doping concentration (3.2E10 to 3.2E16 for absorber and E16 to E20 for CTLs), defect density, and energy band offset for MASnI 3 PSCs. Four distinct n-i-p device structures are optimized, yielding impressive PCE improvements ranging from 14.63 % to 25.34 %, a significant 3 % enhancement compared to initial results. Notably, the WO 3 /MASnI 3 /WSe 2 configuration exhibits limitations in electrical performance, while the other optimized structures demonstrate substantial efficiency gains. Further analysis investigates the impact of reflecting coatings (10 % to 90 %), varying contact work functions (5.2–5.8 eV), and temperature (300–400 K) on photovoltaic parameters. Critical factors including energy band offset, recombination current profile, and built-in potential, are meticulously examined, laying the groundwork for advanced PSC implementation. The study culminates in the In 2 S 3 /MASnI 3 /MoO 3 device configuration, which achieves a peak efficiency of 25.34 %, showcasing superior thermal stability and an enhanced fill factor, thus propelling all-inorganic PSCs towards practical implementation.

Abstract:The expensive and unstable organic hole transport layer (HTL) is one of the crucial problems that hampers the wide application of perovskite solar cells. Here, an MAPbI3-(BA)2(MA)n−1PbnI3 n+1 3D-2D perovskite-perovskite planar heterojunction (PPPH) through a facile BAI and MAPbI3 interfacial ion exchange process was conducted. A graded band structure was formed for efficient charge separation, and the conductivity of the 2D perovskite can be tuned by extrinsic FA incorporation, which provides effective conducting channels for holes, making the modified 2D perovskite layer a promising and stable HTL. Optimized solar cells based on 3D-2D PPPH showed a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 13.15% initially and 16.13% after thermal aging, and could maintain 71% output for 50 days under 65% humidity, and 74% for 30 days under 85°C, without encapsulation. This work points to realize low cost and ambient compatible PPPH solar cells with high PCE and robust stability.

Abstract:Recently, organic–inorganic metal halide perovskites, due to their promising optical properties, are widely used in solar cell applications yielding power conversion efficiencies (PCE) above 21%. In this study, using solar cell capacitance one-dimensional tool (SCAPS-1D), we have numerically simulated a novel solar cell consisting of three perovskite absorbers (MASnI3, MAPbI3 and FAMASnGeI3) as the active layer and achieved power conversion efficiency of 30.77%. We have also compared the performance of the proposed triple active layer perovskite solar cell (PSC) with single (MAPbI3) and double (MASnI3, MAPbI3) active layer PSCs and observed that the triple active layer PSC outperforms the single and double layer structures. Moreover, changing hole transport layer (HTL), it is found that inorganic Cu2O can be a suitable substitute for expensive prevalent organic Spiro-OMeTAD as HTL of our PSC and enhances the device PCE to 31.04%. In addition, by increasing the first absorber layer's (MASnI3) thickness, while maintaining the total active layer thickness constant, a high PCE of 31.44% for triple active layer PSC is achieved. Furthermore, it is shown that materials with work functions more than 4.4 eV are not appropriate to be used as front contact of this structure. Finally, our simulations indicate that increase of defect density in absorber layers and working temperature of the cell monotonically degrade the efficiency of the device. We believe that the proposed triple active layer PSC can open a new route for realization of highly efficient PSCs.

Abstract:Recently, inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) based on CsPbBr3 have triggered incredible interest due to the demonstrated excellent stability against thermal and high humidity environmental conditions. However, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the CsPbBr3-based PSCs is still lower than that of the organic-inorganic hybrid one, because of the large band gap and serious charge recombination at the interface or inside the device. Here, the working mechanism of the devices with normal n-i-p planar structure is modeled and investigated using SCAPS 1D simulation software. The simulation results state that the proper band structure of PSCs is crucial to carrier separation and transport. The high interface recombination, originated from the large band offsets of the electron transport material (ETM)/absorber and absorber/hole transport material (HTM) respectively, can be effectively diminished with the continuous gradient junction design of the absorber, and a PCE of 11.58% is obtained with a high open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.68 V. Moreover, by building a heterojunction bilayer absorption scenario of CsPbIBr2/CsPbBr3 and employing ZnOS and Cu2ZnSnS4 films as the ETM and HTM respectively, the PCE of PSCs is further increased to 15.89%, caused mainly by the enhancement in short-current density (JSC). Moreover, reducing the interface defect density is also very important to improve the performance of PSCs. These results will provide theoretical guidance for improving the performance of the CsPbBr3-based PSCs.

Abstract:Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown high optical absorption and consequently provide high conversion efficiency with stable performance. In our work, CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 (MAPbI 3 ) as an absorber layer is analyzed for different crystalline structures. Cubic, tetragonal, and orthorhombic phases of perovskite material are investigated to check the impact of the crystalline structure on the solar cell performance. Both density of states and band structure are studied using Quantum-ESPRESSO package depending on density functional theory. Then, all relevant parameters were employed in SCAPS software and comprehensive study was done for examining the effect of the crystalline structure of perovskite layer on the solar cell performance. In-depth, analyses were conducted to evaluate key parameters, including open circuit voltage (V oc ), short circuit current (I sc ), fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) considering the variations of perovskite layer thickness and bulk defect densities. The obtained results indicate that cells with cubic MAPbI 3 , which shows a notably higher bandgap of 1.7 eV and an enhanced optical absorption coefficient, especially in the higher wavelength range (around 10 5 cm −1 ), show better performance for almost all three scenarios. Cubic MAPbI 3 cells achieve relatively higher peak efficiency of 26% when the absorber layer thickness is almost 900 nm. The investigation into absorber bulk defect densities reveals the critical role of defect levels in PSC performance. Adjusting defect levels from 10 14 cm −3 to 10 18 cm −3 results in deteriorating trends in V oc , J sc , FF, and PCE. J sc remains stable until a defect level of 10 17 cm −3 , highlighting a threshold where defects begin to impact charge carrier generation and separation. Doping effect has been studied, PCE remains stable until a critical doping level of 10 16 cm −3 after which it drops significantly which indicates that doping is cautioned against due to its adverse effects on material and carrier transport. This finding holds significant promise for experimental solar cell fabrication, as it suggests that cubic MAPbI 3 's superior bandgap and enhanced optical absorption could lead to more efficient and robust photovoltaic devices in real-world applications.

Abstract:The primary focus of this work is on the numerical modeling of lead-free methyl ammonium antimony iodide (MA3Sb2I9) based on perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by deploying solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS). In our work, antimony-based low bandgap perovskite in p-i-n heterojunction configuration fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO)/Cu:NiO/MA3Sb2I9/ZnO/Al has been considered as the key component of the solar cell, which has a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 22.03%. In the meantime, we have also considered several other materials as an electron transport layers (ETL) and a hole transport layer (HTL) to improve their performance. However, the incorporation of 2, ,7, -Tetrakis[ , -di(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]-9, -spirobifluorene (Spiro-OMeTAD) and ZnO as a carrier transporting material (CTM) with MA3Sb2I9 material resulted in a PCE of 23.01% under the photoillumination of AM1.5.

Abstract:Device modeling of CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 based controllable photonic structure and plasmonic nanoparticles perovskite solar cells (PSC) was performed. In recent years, light trapping (LT) and plasmonic structures in PSCs have been developed and attracted widespread attention and encouraged researchers to develop and test many architectures in this area. Also, using controllable photonic structures and plasmonic nanoparticles in PSCs significantly affect the power conversion efficiency (PCE). LT by photonic structure and also the interaction of incident light with plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) is considered as a hopeful way to enhance the PCE of PSCs in this simulation. For accurate calculation and also considering all parameters on PSC, the present simulation is done using the finite element method (FEM). The simulation results showed that using a photonic structure significantly affects the photovoltaic result of the PSC, and the PCE reached from 15.62 % for the planar structure to 16.17 % for the photonic structure. Here, we concentrate on a significant aspect of nanostructures that minimizes light loss by optimizing and managing light to achieve high PCE for the PSC. Then we used plasmonic NPs at the top of the electron layer transfer (ETL), active layer, and hole transfer layer (HTL), and the best position to achieve the highest PCE was the top of HTL. Moreover, an additional layer as a complimentary layer (CH 3 NH 3 SnI 3 ) was used to maximize efficiency with values of short circuit current ( J sc ) 27.81 (mA/cm 2 ), open circuit voltage ( V oc ) 0.949 (V), fill factor ( FF ) 81.77 % and PCE 21.85 %. Using these combined techniques opens horizons of improvement for the PCE of PSC.

Abstract:We demonstrate that charge carrier diffusion lengths of two classes of perovskites, CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3− x Cl x and CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 , are both highly sensitive to film processing conditions and optimal processing procedures are critical to preserving the long carrier diffusion lengths of the perovskite films. This understanding, together with the improved cathode interface using bilayer-structured electron transporting interlayers of [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)/ZnO, leads to the successful fabrication of highly efficient, stable and reproducible planar heterojunction CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3− x Cl x solar cells with impressive power-conversion efficiencies (PCEs) up to 15.9%. A 1-square-centimeter device yielding a PCE of 12.3% has been realized, demonstrating that this simple planar structure is promising for large-area devices.

Abstract:With the development of new energy, the photovoltaic industry has attracted widespread attention. In response to perovskite solar cells, a device structure is proposed, consisting of indium tin oxide (ITO)/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate(PEDOT:PSS)/methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3)/tin oxide(SnO2)/aurum(Au) from top to bottom. By software testing the key parameters affecting the performance of perovskite solar cells, the cells are optimized, and the photoelectric conversion efficiency reached 25.78%. This lays the foundation for the subsequent preparation of efficient perovskite solar cells. Methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) is a kind of perovskite material, which can effectively absorb photons in sunlight, with an adjustable band gap and relatively stable performance. Aiming at the problem of photoelectric conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells, this paper proposes a perovskite solar cell with MAPbI3 as an absorption layer. The device structure adopts a trans structure with good stability and low cost, and the hole transport layer adopts poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate(PEDOT:PSS) material, which has good electrical properties and interface properties, and has certain transparency. The electron transport layer adopts tin oxide (SnO2), and its energy band structure is beneficial to carrier transport, and it has excellent electron transport performance and chemical stability, which makes it a material for the electron transport layer. The top electrode and the bottom electrode are made of indium tin oxide (ITO) and aurum (Au) with high reliability respectively. The thickness, band gap, and defect concentration of the battery are simulated by solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS) software. The results show that the thickness and band gap of the absorption layer has great influence on the performance of the battery. The open‐circuit voltage, short‐circuit current density, filling factor and photoelectric conversion efficiency of the optimized perovskite solar cell reached 1.219 V, 30.1641 mA cm−2, 70.14%, and 25.78% respectively.

Abstract:Hybrid organic–inorganic perovskite materials have attracted substantial attention as photovoltaic light abosorbers due to their outstanding physical properties and outstanding power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). Structural variation of perovskite absorbing materials has proven to be an effective route to improve device performance; notably, tuning of the halide anion composition constitutes a key approach to control material properties. In this work, we demonstrate a bridged ternary halide approach to process materials with the formula MAPbI3–y–x Br y Cl x , which yields high PCEs in planar, p–i–n type heterojunction perovskite solar cells. This ternary halide perovskite system improves device performance from 12 to 16% when an optimal concentration of 10% Br is incorporated into the binary Cl–I systems via increases in short-circuit current density, open-circuit voltage, and the fill factor, which arise from the formation of homogeneous crystal domains and a subtle widening of the optical band gap. Remarkably, the ternary halide perovskite devices exhibited approximately 100% internal quantum efficiency (IQE) throughout their entire absorption range (400–800 nm).

Abstract:In this work, CsPb. 625 Zn. 375 IBr 2 -based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are numerically simulated and optimized under ideal lighting conditions using the SCAPS-1D simulator. We investigate how various hole transport layers (HTL) including Zn 3 P 2 , PTAA, MoS 2, MoO 3, MEH-PPV, GaAs, CuAlO 2 , Cu 2 Te, ZnTe, MoTe 2 , CMTS, CNTS, CZTS, CZTSe and electron transport layers (ETL) such as CdS, SnS 2 , ZnSe, PC 60 BM interact with the devices' functionality. Following HTL material optimization, a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 16.59% was observed for the FTO/SnS 2 /CsPb. 625 Zn. 375 IBr 2 /MoS 2 /Au structure, with MoS 2 proving to be a more economical option. The remainder of the investigation is done following the HTL optimization. We study how the performance of the PSC is affected by varying the materials of the ETL and to improve the PCE of the device, we finally optimized the thickness, charge carrier densities, and defect densities of the absorber, ETL, and HTL. In the end, the optimized arrangement produced a V OC of 0.583 V, a J SC of 43.95 mA/cm 2 , an FF of 82.17%, and a PCE of 21.05% for the FTO/ZnSe/CsPb. 625 Zn. 375 IBr 2 /MoS 2 /Au structure. We also examine the effects of temperature, shunt resistance, series resistance, generation rate, recombination rate, current-voltage (JV) curve, and quantum efficiency (QE) properties to learn more about the performance of the optimized device. At 300 K, the optimized device provides the highest thermal stability. Our research shows the promise of CsPb. 625 Zn. 375 IBr 2 -based PSCs and offers insightful information for further development and improvement.

Abstract:Perovskite solar cells in which 2D perovskites are incorporated within a 3D perovskite network exhibit improved stability with respect to purely 3D systems, but lower record power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). Here, a breakthrough is reported in achieving enhanced PCEs, increased stability, and suppressed photocurrent hysteresis by incorporating n-type, low-optical-gap conjugated organic molecules into 2D:3D mixed perovskite composites. The resulting ternary perovskite-organic composites display extended absorption in the near-infrared region, improved film morphology, enlarged crystallinity, balanced charge transport, efficient photoinduced charge transfer, and suppressed counter-ion movement. As a result, the ternary perovskite-organic solar cells exhibit PCEs over 23%, which are among the best PCEs for perovskite solar cells with p-i-n device structure. Moreover, the ternary perovskite-organic solar cells possess dramatically enhanced stability and diminished photocurrent hysteresis. All these results demonstrate that the strategy of exploiting ternary perovskite-organic composite thin films provides a facile way to realize high-performance perovskite solar cells.

Abstract:Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have demonstrated commendable efficiency, yet grapple with challenges pertaining to stability and toxicity, largely attributed to the prevalent use of hybrid organic–inorganic and lead-based materials. This study strategically shifts the focus from methylammonium-lead-based (MA-Pb) PSCs to their cesium-lead- (Cs-Pb) free counterparts, aiming to address these persistent issues. In the pursuit of a balanced interplay between efficiency and stability, the study employs CsSnBr 3 , CsSnIBr 2 , and CsSnI 2 Br as perovskite absorber layers. CsSnBr 3 enhances stability, CsSnIBr 2 improves both efficiency and stability, while CsSnI 2 Br predominantly enhances efficiency, collectively providing a favorable equilibrium. To optimize PSC efficiency, the research explores multi-layer configurations to enhance solar-spectrum absorption, with the goal of maximizing spectrum utilization and improving the overall efficiency of PSCs. The study systematically assesses single, bilayer, and tri-layer PSCs. Initial simulations rigorously evaluate the performance of single layer PSC based on CsSnBr 3 , CsSnIBr 2 , and CsSnI 2 Br. Subsequently, a bilayer PSC is simulated, incorporating CsSnBr 3 and CsSnIBr 2 as absorber layers, with meticulous optimization of its performance. The research concludes by simulating a tri-layer PSC, utilizing CsSnBr 3 , CsSnIBr 2 , and CsSnI 2 Br as absorber layers, with optimization across various variables, including absorber layer thickness, bulk defect density, interface defect density, and doping concentration for both bilayer and triple-layer PSCs. The study reveals remarkable efficiencies of 9.12 %, 22.81 %, and 32.82 % for single layer PSC, bilayer PSC and the tri-layer PSC respectively. These findings underscore the transformative potential of strategically aligned multiple absorber layers in PSCs, providing a promising pathway for the development of highly efficient and stable solar cells in the future.

Abstract:(a) Crystal structure and (b) Energy Band alignment between the different ETL materials (TiO2/PCBM/SnO2/ZnO) of CH3NH3PbBr3 absorber. Perovskite solar cells are increasingly acknowledged for their unique characteristics. This study focuses on simulating the impact of methylammonium lead bromide‐based perovskites, as the absorber in perovskite solar cells using the SCAPS‐1D simulator. The research delves into how the performance of these solar cells is affected by the choice of Electron Transport Layers (TiO2, PCBM, SnO2, and ZnO) and Hole Transport Layer (Cu2O) with Ni and Al as the back and front contact. This investigation marks the first comprehensive exploration of CH3NH3PbBr3. The performance of these device architectures is significantly influenced by factors such as defect density, absorber thickness, ETL thickness, and the combination of different ETLs. The power conversion efficiencies of devices optimized with TiO2, PCBM, SnO2, and ZnO are found to be 15.46%, 15.33%, 15.01%, and 14.99%, respectively. Furthermore, this study elucidates the impact of absorber and HTL thickness. Also, they have discussed the VBO, CBO for different ETLs. Additionally, the effects of series resistance, shunt resistance are examined, operating temperature, quantum efficiency (QE), capacitance‐voltage characteristics, generation and recombination rates, current density‐voltage (J‐V), and impedance analysis of the devices. Through this extensive simulation study, researchers are equipped to develop cost‐effective and highly efficient PSCs, thereby advancing solar technology.

Abstract:We carried out simulative investigations on a non-toxic, lead-free perovskite solar cell (PSC), where Cs2AgBiBr6, P3HT, ZnO nanorod, and C were utilized as the absorber layer, hole transport layer, electron transport layer, and back contact, respectively. At 600 nm optimum absorber thickness, the device achieved a maximum power conversion efficiency of 4.48%. The PSC operated optimally when the electron affinities were set at 3.3 eV and 4.6 eV for P3HT and ZnO nanorod, respectively. Moreover, the hole mobility and acceptor concentration of P3HT should be weighed during the choosing of appropriate doping additives and doping levels. Besides, the optimum back contact work function and absorber defect density were found to be 5.2 eV and 1E15 cm-3, respectively. We also observed the effect of radiative recombination rates and different charge transport layers on the device's performance. Overall, this study's simulation results will provide insightful guidance towards fabricating an environmentally benign PSC.

Abstract:This study focuses on the theoretical aspects of third-generation perovskite solar cells (PSC), with the aim of replacing traditional silicon-based counterparts. With potential for higher efficiency and low manufacturing costs, perovskite cells offer unique crystallographic structures allowing adjustments to photoluminescence wavelength. This research addresses challenges in cost-effective solar spectrum utilization and optimization of parameters, device architecture, and materials for high-efficiency cells. In this study, we simulated a perovskite-based solar cell (CH3NH3SnI3) using solar cell capacitance simulator-one dimension simulator under AM 1.5G illumination. The chosen electron transport layer is TiO2, and hole transport layer is CH3NH3SnBr3. The simulation explores variations in layer thickness, defect concentration, interface defects, doping concentration and electron affinity. Additionally, we analyzed the impact of back metal contact work function and temperature variations. Results indicate optimal absorber layer thickness at 0.5µm. Reduced defect concentrations, increased doping concentration and a higher work function for the back contact, enhance efficiency of PSC. The initial parameters yielded a 19.79% efficiency based on base values before optimization, which increased to 26.66% after optimization. According to the latest NREL data, the highest reported efficiency for PSC is 26.1%. This research provides insights into perovskite-based solar cell design for enhanced efficiency.
CH 3 NH 3 PbBr 3– x I x Quantum Dots Enhance Bulk Crystallization and Interface Charge Transfer for Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Abstract:Obtaining a perovskite light-absorbing layer with good crystallization, low defect concentration, good stability, and well-matched energy levels is critical to obtaining high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, a hybrid PSC with a graded band gap is explored using MAPbBr3 (MA = CH3NH3) and MAPbBr0.9I2.1 quantum dots (QDs) as component cells. We have creatively designed a solar cell device with a double-QD structure [indium tin oxide (ITO)/SnO2/perovskite:MAPbBr3 QDs/MAPbBr0.9I2.1 QDs/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au]. A better crystal film of the perovskite absorption layer can be obtained because the MAPbBr3 QDs are doped in an antisolvent, which induces nucleation and growth in the polycrystalline perovskite. In addition, we expect that digestive ripening occurred in the crystallization, and the oleic acid ligands on the surface of the QDs disintegrate during the doping process and transfer to the surface of the perovskite absorption layer finally; it follows that the hydrophobicity and stability of the perovskite film are greatly enhanced. Moreover, a thin film of MAPbBr0.9I2.1 QDs is introduced between the perovskite absorption layer and the hole layer, acting as an energy-level ladder, which leads to well-matched energy levels, an increase in fill factor (FF), and an enhanced hole transport capability. In particular, the mechanism of the crystallization process involving the effect of oleic acid ligands on the interior and surface of the perovskite film is fully discussed here. Abstract:Planar perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with perovskite and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) heterojunction have attracted much interest because they can be fabricated by a low-temperature process and exhibit high power conversion efficiency (PCE). Various compositional engineering and interface engineering approaches have been applied to produce high-performance PSC devices. In this study, we found that high-quality lead halide crystal precursor has a significant effect on the perovskite film quality and it could enhance perovskite film light absorption, reduce crystal defects, and suppress charge recombination, resulting in enhanced device performance (from 8.9 to 15.0% for CH3NH3PbI3 and from 14.2 to 18.0% for MA0.7FA0.3PbI3-x Cl x ). Moreover, electron and hole interlayer free devices were achieved by using high-quality PbI2 crystals and the devices exhibited a high PCE of 13.6 and 10.4% for glass and flexible substrates, respectively. This is important for simplifying the perovskite solar cell fabrication process without complex interface engineering involved, especially for printed PSCs.
