Abstract:A green procedure for the one-pot three-component synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol and 3-amino-1-phenyl-1H benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitrile derivatives from the reaction of 2-naphtol, aldehydes, and malononitrile/acetamide in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe3O4@enamine-B(OSO3H)(2) as an efficient and novel heterogeneous magnetic nanostructure catalyst is described. The catalyst was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These strategies possess some merits such as simple work-up method, easy preparation of the catalyst, short reaction times, good-to-high yields, and non-use of hazardous solvents during all steps of the reactions. Moreover, due to the magnetic nature of the catalyst, it was readily recovered by magnetic decantation and can be recycled at least six runs with no considerable decrease in catalytic activity.

Abstract:A clean, convenient and facile approach for one-pot ultrasonic assisted synthesis of substituted 3-pyrrolin-2-ones from diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, aniline and aldehyde derivatives is described. The reactions were carried out in the presence of an efficient, green and reusable acidic nanocatalyst, magnetic cobalt ferrite nanoparticles functionalized with citric acid (CoFe2O4@CA), with high yields under mild conditions. Also, use of ultrasound irradiation made this approach an attractive protocol for the synthesis of these products. The method has been successful in achieving the green chemistry objective. An energy efficient protocol using ultrasound irradiation instead of conventional heating or stirring and use of ethanol as a non-hazardous, inexpensive and green solvent in the one-step reaction against sequential reaction steps thus combining the features of both economic and environmental advantages.Graphic abstractIn this research, magnetic cobalt ferrite nanoparticles functionalized with citric acid (CoFe2O4@CA) catalyzed synthesis of substituted 3-pyrrolin-2-ones under ultrasonic irradiation via a practical and environmentally benign one-pot three-component protocol.

Abstract:In this study, we synthesized sulfamic acid-functionalized Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @EDA-SO 3 H) as an effective nanomagnetic solid acid catalyst. This magnetically recoverable catalyst was well characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, VSM, SEM, EDX, TEM, and CHN techniques. The prepared catalyst exhibited high efficiency in the synthesis of quinoxaline, benzothiazole, and benzoxazole derivatives such as 3,2-diphenylquinoxaline (97%), 2-phenyl-benzothiazole (97%), and 2-(4-chlorophenyl)benzoxazole (95%) via simple and mild conditions. The catalyst can be readily separated from the reaction medium by employing an external magnet and reused several times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.

A Simple and One-pot Synthesis of Tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans and Spirooxindoles Catalyzed by H-Fe3O4@DA-SO3H as an Efficient, Light and Reusable Nanocatalyst

Abstract:Aim and objective: One of the principles of green chemistry is using inexpensive reagents and catalysts to design green route for synthesis of organic compounds. Recently magnetic nanoparticles have provided a considerable merits. In this study, hollow Fe3O4@Dopamine-SO3H has been successfully applied for the green synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans and spirooxindoles via one-pot multi-component reaction. Materials and methods: Chemical reagents were purchased from Merck and Aldrich. Melting points were determined using an Electrothermal 9100. Fourier transform infrared and NMR spectra were recorded with a Shimadzu 8400 spectrometer and Bruker spectrometer, respectively. Results: The reaction between benzaldehyde, malononitrile and dimedone was selected as the model for synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran. The obtained results showed that the best amount of catalyst is 0.01 g and the reaction has occurred in solvent free condition at 70°C. The results showed that both electron-withdrawing and electron-donating substituents have an acceptable yield in the reaction. After that the scope of this method was evaluated in one-pot synthesis of spirooxindole derivatives through three-component reaction of isatin derivatives, malononitrile or ethyl cyanoacetate and 1,3-cycllic diketone. The optimum condition was 0.01 g catalyst using H2O under reflux condition. Then other derivatives produced in excellent yields during short reaction times. Conclusion: Tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and spirooxindole derivatives in the presence of this catalyst were synthesized. The ease of preparation and handling of the catalyst and operational simplicity are some of the main advantages of this work. In addition, the catalyst could be recycled and reused at least six times without notable reduction in its catalytic activity.
Sexual Swellings of Female Gibbons

Abstract:Female gibbons were observed for labial swellings from March 2002 to August 2003. Data were collected on length of time each female was swollen, changes in swelling period as females matured, and cycle length (number of days between onsets of consecutive swellings). Data were also collected on the behaviour of the males when the females were swollen. There was a significant relationship between age of the female gibbon and number of days she had labial swelling. There was no significant relationship between the age of the gibbon and the cycle length, nor between species (Hylobates agilis albibarbis and Hylobates muelleri) and number of days swollen. Copulation was more common when females were swollen. Swelling in female gibbons may be related to copulatory behaviour and serve to provide the male with some certainty of paternity through fertilisation insurance.

Abstract:In this study, we conveniently prepared a novel robust heterogeneous magnetic nanocatalyst using a Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 core/shell stabilized by gallic acid. The catalyst was completely characterized by various physicochemical techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), potentiometric titration, energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), zeta potential analysis, and BET. The potential ability of the newly developed sulfonated nanocatalyst was then exploited in the multicomponent synthesis of acridine-1,8-dione derivatives by considering the green chemistry matrix and under mild conditions. Various aldehydes and amines were smoothly reacted with dimedone, affording the desired products in good to excellent yields. The introduction of sulfonic groups using gallic acid allowed the development of a water-compatible and highly recyclable catalytic system for reactions in an aqueous environment. The prepared catalyst can be readily magnetically separated and reused eight times without significant loss of activity. High synthetic efficiency, using a recyclable and eco-sustainable catalyst under mild conditions, and easy product isolation are salient features of this catalytic system, which makes this protocol compatible with the demands of green chemistry.

Abstract:In this research, Cu(II)-immobilized on functionalized magnetic nano-fibrillated cellulose has been prepared via the incorporation of Cu(OAc)2 with cyclohxeyldiamine-aminated epichlorohydrin (Fe3O4@NFC/E-CHDA-CuII). The structural and morphological of the as-prepared catalyst were characterized by different techniques such as FT-IR, SEM, TEM, TGA, ICP-OES and VSM analysis. The catalytic activity of new magnetic nanocatalyst (Fe3O4@NFC/ECH-CHDA-CuII) was investigated in the multi-component one-pot reaction of aromatic aldehydes, 1, 3 cyclohexanediones and malononitrile for preparation of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans under solvent-free conditions at ambient temperature. Abstract:A novel series of 2-amino-3-(2-oxothiazol-methyl)-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone compounds were designed and prepared, by the three-component one-pot reaction of 2-aminothiazole, 2-hydroxy-1-4-naphthoquinone and aromatic aldehydes using of nano-SiO2 (20% mol) as an efficient Lewis acid and heterogeneous nano-catalyst in acetonitrile at room temperature in the period of time 2–5 h. Silica-based materials used for developing an environmental friendly methodology for the preparation of potential biologically active molecular scaffolds. The direction of product formation and the structure of all the synthesized compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods. The remarkable superiorities of this procedure include good yields (70–89%), use of an inexpensive and commercially available catalyst, regioselectivity and simple work-up.

Abstract:Amine functionalized silica coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (SiO2@MNP-A) were successfully prepared as a novel heterogeneous amine. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, TEM, magnetic measurement, elemental analysis and was found to be a magnetically separable and highly active catalyst for ambient Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes and α-aromatic (heteroaromatic or polyaromatic)-substituted methylene compounds in water under ultrasonic irradiation to afford the corresponding products in good to excellent yields. Very interestingly, SiO2@MNP-A successfully catalyze the reaction of the non-cyano substituted compound with benzaldehyde to achieve a key intermediate for the preparation of Atorvastatin calcium in green and atom-economic manner. In addition, the catalyst SiO2@MNP-A can be reused for 8 times without any obvious loss of its activity. The role of ultrasonication in the Knoevenagel condensation was also discussed with the assistance of UV–vis spectrometry.
Green synthesis of quinazoline derivatives using a novel recyclable nano-catalyst of magnetic modified graphene oxide supported with copper

Abstract:A new magnetic nano-catalyst system based on graphene oxide was designed and manufactured (GO@Fe3O4@3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane@(Z)-N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-(pyridin-4-yl)benzohydrazide@Cu(II)), and it was checked and confirmed by various analyzes such as FTIR, XRD, EDX, MAPPING, TGA/DSC, VSM and FESEM. This nano-catalyst was used in the three-component one-pot synthesis of quinazoline derivatives. The products were obtained using this efficient catalyst with high efficiency in short time and solvent-free conditions. Easy separation and acceptable recyclability are other advantages of this new nano-catalyst. Also, the catalyst can be recycled 4 times without a significant change in its efficiency.

Abstract:A simple, one-pot synthesis of nine 3-(4-oxo-4,5-dihydro-thiazole-2-yl sulfanyl) succinate derivatives has been achieved in moderate to good yields via a three-component reaction of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, phosphites, and rhodanine at room temperature conditions and a magnetically-separable Fe 3 O 4 @gly@Furfural@Co(NO 3 ) 2 nanocatalyst. The size, surface charge, superparamagnetic properties, crystalline structure, and surface functional groups of nanoparticles were characterized and carried out utilizing several techniques such as X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and Value stream mapping (VSM).

Abstract:In this study, the recyclable heterogeneous cluster bud Fe-MOF@Fe3O4 'nanoflower' composite (CB Fe-MOF@Fe3O4 NFC) was successfully synthesized using Fe(NO3)3·9H2O, 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate monohydrate, and Fe3O4 nanoparticles by microwave irradiation. The as-prepared CB Fe-MOF@Fe3O4 NFC was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), vibrational sampling magnetometry (VSM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The CB Fe-MOF@Fe3O4 NFC samples proved to have excellent catalytic activity. The activity of the CB Fe-MOF@Fe3O4 NFC nanocatalyst was explored in the synthesis of dihydropyrano[3, 2-c]chromene derivatives via a three-component reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin, malononitrile, and a wide range of aromatic aldehyde compounds. Optimized reaction conditions had several advantages, including the use of water as a green solvent, environmental compatibility, simple work-up, reusability of the catalyst, low catalyst loading, faster reaction time, and higher yields.

Abstract:In this study, Fe3O4@SiO2@(CH2)3NH(CH2)2O2P(OH)2 as a new and recoverable nanocatalyst with magnetic properties was synthesized. The characterization of the novel nanocatalyst confirmed by thermo gravimetric analysis/ differential thermal analysis (TGA/DTA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) equipped by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), elemental mapping analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The impact of Fe3O4@SiO2@(CH2)3NH(CH2)2O2P(OH)2 was carefully considered in the synthesis of benzo-[h]quinoline-4-carboxylic acids via a three component reaction of aryl aldehydes, naphtylamine, and pyrovic acid in the absence of solvent. The suggested mechanism proposed an anomeric based oxidation route for final step of the described synthesis. The described catalyst was recycled and reused without any remarkable decrease in the yield and the reaction time after six runs.

Abstract:A novel acid catalyst has been synthesized by commercial anatase phase nano-TiO2 and graphite (nano-TiO2@Cg) via a simple procedure and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and potentiometric titration techniques. It has been utilized as a convenient nano-catalyst to accelerate the one-pot, solvent-free, three-component reaction of Meldrum’s acid, aromatic amines (5-methylpyrazol-3-amine), and various aromatic aldehydes to form 4-aryl-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2-(1H)-ones and 3-methyl-4-aryl/alkyl-2,4,5,7-tetrahydropyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-ones, respectively. The catalytic activity has also examined for the preparation of coumarin-3-carboxylic esters from Meldrum’s acid, salicylaldehydes, and alcohols successfully. Low catalyst loading, clean process without utilizing any hazardous solvent, easy workup procedure, reusability and recyclability of the nano-catalyst within four runs without activity loss, high yields of the products, in addition with utilizing a vast range of substrates are some highlighted points of the reported protocols.Graphical abstract

In this research, we fabricated a palladium(0) complex stabilized on magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles modified with dopamine and benzo[d]thiazole-2-carbonyl chloride [Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -Dop/Amide-BTA-Pd(0)] ( 1 ) and evaluated its catalytic behavior in the synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles through one-pot tandem reactions of aryl halides with K 4 [Fe(CN) 6 ] and sodium azide under eco-friendly conditions. One-pot tandem reactions of aryl halides with K 4 [Fe(CN) 6 ] and sodium azide were conducted using a catalytic amount of 1 in the presence of potassium carbonate in water at 100 °C for 2 h the 5-substituted 1H-tetrazole products were obtained in high to excellent yields. At the end of the reaction, 1 can be easily recycled and the products obtained had high purity.

Abstract:Magnetite (Fe3O4)-supported molybdenum oxide (MoO3) was synthesized from simple starting precursors in aqueous medium. The synthesized nanocat-Fe-Mo was analyzed using several techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM). The catalytic activity of the synthesized nanocat-Fe-Mo was studied in a benign one-pot multicomponent transformation for synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthol derivatives under solvent-free condition using both conventional and microwave irradiation methods. Nanocat-Fe-Mo was found to be highly active and could be reused seven times without notable loss in catalytic activity. The proposed method offers advantages such as good reaction yield (80–95%), short process time, simple workup, and recycling of the catalyst, representing important green chemistry principles.Graphical Abstract

Abstract:In this research, magnetic bismuth ferrite nanoparticles (BFO MNPs) were prepared through a convenient method and characterized. The structure and morphological characteristics of the prepared nanomaterial were confirmed through analyses using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), elemental mapping, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) techniques. The obtained magnetic BFO nanomaterial was investigated, as a heterogeneous Lewis acid, in three component synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2 (1H)-ones/thiones (DHPMs/DHPMTs). It was found that the BFO MNPs exhibit remarkable efficacy in the synthesis of various DHPMs as well as their thione analogues. It is noteworthy that this research features low catalyst loading, good to excellent yields, environmentally friendly conditions, short reaction time, simple and straightforward work-up, and the reusability of the catalyst, distinguishing it from other recently reported protocols. Additionally, the structure of the DHPMs/DHPMTs was confirmed through 1H NMR, FTIR, and melting point analyses. This environmentally-benign methodology demonstrates the potential of the catalyst for more sustainable and efficient practices in green chemistry.

Abstract:The development of efficient and green synthetic strategies for N-heterocycle synthesis has always been a research hotspot in organic synthesis. A facile one-pot iron-catalyzed synthesis of quinazolines from alcohols in water has been firstly disclosed, in which a N-doped carbon encapsulated Fe-FeOx material (Fe-FeOx@NC) is applied as the catalyst, and various quinazolines (25 examples, 62-99%) are synthesized. The iron nanoparticles wrapped by nitrogen-doped carbon layer in Fe-FeOx@NC with strong anti-toxic ability is the main reason for its high performance on the reaction. This protocol offers several advantages including use of air as oxidant, water as solvent, recyclable iron as catalyst and high atom and step economy.
