Abstract:Background and Purpose The purpose of this article is to describe an evaluation of psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision, and Nurse Teacher (CLES + T) scale, a scale that measures nursing students' perceptions of their clinical learning environment. Methods The CLES + T was completed by 292 nursing students. Inter-item correlations, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and evidence of validity were used to examine reliability and validity. Results Four factors were extracted that explained 58% of the variance. Cronbach alphas ranged from .86–.95. Wording to describe different titles of supervisors was unclear to some of the participants. Conclusion The Indonesian version of the CLES + T is a reliable version. More research is needed to clarify some of the wording.

Abstract:Background: In nursing education for better teaching and essential professional skills, the clinical practice plays a substantial role. Practice at clinical settings permits students to convert theoretic knowledge into the knowledge of the skills mandatory for the care of the patient. Clinical learning environment (CLE) is an important part in education of nursing and has a sizable influence on the students’ learning. Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine perception and satisfaction of nursing students with their CLEs in Hyderabad, Pakistan. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at three nursing institutes of Hyderabad from December 2018 to January 2019 among 342 nursing students. Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision and Nurse Teacher (CLES + T) assessment tool was used as the instrument to identify the students’ perception about the learning environment in clinical setting. Results: The mean age of the participants was 25.6 ± 4.93 with majority of them male (70.7%). Three domains, pedagogical atmosphere, supervisory relationship and nurse teacher role in clinical practice showed good reliability of more than 70%. Highest domains vise mean score was obtained for nursing premises on the ward (3.315) whereas lowest for nurse teacher role in clinical practice (NT) (3.062). Analysis of variance revealed that three domains supervisory relationship, leadership style of the ward manager and premises of nursing showed significant mean score difference among supervisor title. Conclusion: It was found that students valued positive supervision, ward manager leadership style premises of nursing on the ward as positive CLE. Learning environment varies between gender, clinical settings and supervision. Medicine ward appeared to deliver the finest learning situations for the nursing program.

Abstract:PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to adapt the "Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale" (SCLS), "Simulation Design Scale" (SDS), and "Educational Practices Questionnaire" (EPQ) developed by Jeffries and Rizzolo into Turkish and establish the reliability and the validity of these translated scales.METHODS: A sample of 87 nursing students participated in this study. These scales were cross-culturally adapted through a process including translation, comparison with original version, back translation, and pretesting. Construct validity was evaluated by factor analysis, and criterion validity was evaluated using the Perceived Learning Scale, Patient Intervention Self-confidence/Competency Scale, and Educational Belief Scale.FINDINGS: Cronbach's alpha values were found as 0.77-0.85 for SCLS, 0.73-0.86 for SDS, and 0.61-0.86 for EPQ.CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study show that the Turkish versions of all scales are validated and reliable measurement tools.

[Rapid DNA extraction from archival paraffin-embedded tissue: a modified method available to PCR analysis for diagnostic pathology].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To modify a method for rapid DNA extraction from paraffin-embedded tissue and to evaluate its efficiency and feasibility available to the PCR analysis for the diagnostic pathology. METHODS Rapid DNA extraction by simply boiling was performed on 52 archival paraffin-embedded tissues including lymphoma and reactive hyperplasia. The traditional phenol-chloroform and DNeasy mini kit methods were also used as controls. The DNA quality was confirmed by PCR amplification of housekeeping gene beta-Globin. The accuracy of target fragment was reconfirmed by sequencing analysis. Based on the clinical pathologic diagnosis to diseases, the IgH and TCRY gene were selected for their gene rearrangements detected. RESULTS The amplification efficiency of beta-Globin and the detective rate of IgH and TCRY gene rearrangements showed no statistic significance between rapid method and the controls, although an obvious lower DNA concentration extracted by rapid method was showed by spectrophotometer. The sequencing result of PCR product was thoroughly consistent with the DNA sequence of corresponding target gene. The DNA in extract could be stored at -20 degrees C for at least 4 weeks. CONCLUSION The rapid method of DNA extracted from archival paraffin-embedded tissue can provide enough DNA served as PCR template, and be regarded as a reliable, stable and economical method with prospect in being used to PCR analysis for the diagnostic pathology.
Development of the clinical learning evaluation questionnaire for undergraduate clinical education: factor structure, validity, and reliability study

Abstract:BackgroundTeaching and learning of clinical skills for undergraduate medical students usually takes place during the clinical clerkship. Therefore, it is of vital importance to ensure the effectiveness of the rotations within this clerkship. The aims of this study were to develop an instrument that measures the effectiveness of the clinical learning environment, to determine its factor structure, and to find first evidence for the reliability and validity of the total scale and the different factors.MethodsThe Clinical Learning Evaluation Questionnaire (CLEQ) is an instrument, consisting of 40 items, which have been developed after consideration of the results of a qualitative study that investigated the important factors influencing clinical learning, both from the perspective of students, as well as teachers. Results of relevant literature that investigated this issue were also incorporated in the CLEQ. This instrument was administered to a sample of students (N = 182) from three medical colleges in Riyadh city, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The factor structure of the CLEQ (Principal component analysis, Oblimin rotation) and reliability of the factor scales (Cronbach’s α) were determined. Hypotheses concerning the correlations between the different factors were tested to investigate their convergent and divergent validity.ResultsOne hundred and nine questionnaires were returned. The factor analysis yielded six factors: F1 Cases (8 items), F2 Authenticity of clinical experience (8 items), F3 Supervision (8 items), F4 Organization of the doctor-patient encounter (4 items), F5 Motivation to learn (5 items), and F6 Self awareness (4 items). The overall internal consistency (α) of the CLEQ was 0.88, and the reliabilities (Cronbach’s α) of the six factors varied from .60 to .86. Hypotheses concerning the correlations between the different factors were partly confirmed, which supported the convergent validity of the factors, but not their divergent validity. Significant differences were found between the scores of the students of the three different schools on the factors Supervision and Organization of patient-doctor encounter.ConclusionsThe results of this study demonstrated that CLEQ is a multidimensional and reliable instrument. It can be utilized as an evaluation tool for clinical teaching activities, both by educators as well as students. Further research is needed into the validity of the CLEQ.

Transplantation of cryopreserved fetal ovarian tissue to adult recipients in mice.

Abstract:Sixteen-day-old fetal mouse ovaries were slowly frozen in 1.5 mol dimethylsulfoxide ml-1 and subjected to one of two thawing procedures--fast thaw or slow thaw. Fresh and frozen-thawed fetal ovaries were transplanted orthotopically (to the bursal cavity) to either bilaterally or unilaterally ovariectomized adult female recipients. Fresh fetal ovaries were also transplanted heterotopically (under the kidney capsule) to intact, bilaterally or unilaterally ovariectomized adult females. Transplantation of fetal ovaries to bilaterally ovariectomized adult recipients resulted in restoration of cyclic activity within 20.5 +/- 4.7 (mean +/- SEM) days or 23.4 +/- 0.8 days in orthotopic and heterotopic groups, respectively. Developing follicles and corpora lutea were observed within 4 weeks after transplantation of fetal ovaries to heterotopic sites and within 6 weeks after transplantation to orthotopic sites. After orthotopic transplantation, 33% of the recipients became pregnant. Orthotopic or heterotopic transplantation to intact of unilaterally ovariectomized recipients resulted in quiescence of the fetal ovary. After cryopreservation, transplantation of fetal ovaries to bilaterally ovariectomized recipients resulted in restoration of cyclic activity within 19.3 +/- 2.1 days and 23.4 +/- 5.1 days after transplantation in slow thaw and fast thaw groups, respectively. Fertility was restored to 86% of fast thawed and 25% of slow thawed fetal ovary transplants to bilaterally ovariectomized adult recipients. No ovarian tissue was observed on the side of the fetal graft in unilaterally ovariectomized recipients that received frozen-thawed fetal ovaries. These results demonstrate that cryopreserved fetal ovarian tissue can be transplanted to adult recipients with subsequent restoration of fertility and that this process is dependent on the absence of the ovaries of the recipients.

Abstract:Conclusion In animal species in which T-1824 is firmly bound to the plasma proteins, absorption of dye by the reticulo-endothelial system and other tissues during the “mixing period” is not a significant source of error in measurement of plasma volume with this dye. With T-1824, as well as with other suitable test substances, back-extrapolation of the time concentration curve on a semi-log plot provides satisfactory correction for loss during the mixing period.

Abstract:Background: The clinical learning environment (CLE) is critical for developing the practical skills needed in healthcare professions. This study aimed to evaluate healthcare students' perceptions of the quality of the CLE using the Arabic version of the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision and Nurse Teacher (ar. CLES + T) scale. The study also aimed to evaluate the tool's measurement invariance and compare perceptions among student groups. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out at two health education institutes in Morocco throughout the academic year 2018-2019 among 1550 undergraduate students who had just finished a clinical practicum in a hospital or primary healthcare facility. Data were gathered using the ar. CLES + T scale. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multigroup CFA were performed. The measurement invariance of the ar. CLES + T scale was assessed across gender, study year, and clinical practicum duration, using configural invariance, metric invariance, scalar invariance, and strict invariance. The t-test and analysis of variance were used to compare the mean scores of the student groups. Results: Students expressed positive perceptions toward the CLE. The "Pedagogical atmosphere on the ward" dimension scored the highest, while the "Role of the nurse teacher" dimension received the lowest scores. The measurement invariance of the ar. CLES + T scale by gender, study year, and clinical practicum duration was established. First-year students and those with an extended practicum period were the most satisfied. Conclusion: To promote effective learning in the clinical environment, nurse teachers might use innovative teaching approaches tailored to their evolving role in these settings. Moreover, extending the duration of clinical practicum can further enhance student learning outcomes.

Abstract:BackgroundThe acquisition of quality clinical experience within a supportive and pedagogically adjusted clinical learning environment is a significant concern for educational institutions. The quality of clinical learning usually reflects the quality of the curriculum structure. The assessment of the clinical settings as learning environment is a significant concern within the contemporary nursing education. The nursing students’ satisfaction is considered as an important factor of such assessment, contributing to any potential reforms in order to optimize the learning activities and achievements within clinical settings.The aim of the study was to investigate nursing students’ satisfaction of the clinical settings as learning environments.MethodA quantitative descriptive, correlational design was used. A sample of 463 undergraduate nursing students from the three universities in Cyprus were participated. Data were collected using the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision and Nurse Teacher (CLES + T).ResultsNursing students were highly satisfied with the clinical learning environment and their satisfaction has been positively related to all clinical learning environment constructs namely the pedagogical atmosphere, the Ward Manager’s leadership style, the premises of Nursing in the ward, the supervisory relationship (mentor) and the role of the Nurse Teacher (p < 0.001). Students who had a named mentor reported more satisfied with the supervisory relationship. The frequency of meetings among the students and the mentors increased the students’ satisfaction with the clinical learning environment. It was also revealed that 1st year students were found to be more satisfied than the students in other years.ConclusionThe supervisory relationship was evaluated by the students as the most influential factor in their satisfaction with the clinical learning environment. Student’s acceptance within the nursing team and a well-documented individual nursing care is also related with students’ satisfaction. The pedagogical atmosphere is considered pivotal, with reference to students’ learning activities and competent development within the clinical setting. Therefore, satisfaction could be used as an important contributing factor towards the development of clinical learning environments in order to satisfy the needs and expectations of students. The value of the development of an organized mentorship system is illustrated in the study.

Abstract:Background Nurses need to understand their own cultures in order to care for patients in ways that are based on the cultural structure of the patient, which means to the patient’s cultural values and beliefs. Aim This study was conducted in Turkey, and the aim of the study was to test the Turkish validity and reliability of the Individual Cultural Values Scale (CVSCALE) for nurses. Methods This research was a methodological study. The sample of the research was composed of 256 nurses. The reliability and validity analyses were performed such as additivity, Cronbach’s alpha, response bias, language, content, and construct validity. Ethical approval was obtained for the research. Results The content validity index of the scale was .91. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, it was determined that the model had a good fit, and five dimensions of the scale were confirmed. The internal consistencies of subscales, except those for power distance and masculinity, were very reliable. The test–retest correlations were found to be very high for the CVSCALE. Conclusion The Turkish form of the Individual Cultural Values Scale that was conducted on nurses had acceptable levels of validity and reliability. Measuring culture at the individual level is important for transcultural nursing, and it will contribute the creation of nursing policies in Turkey.

Abstract:Background Determining nurses’ attitudes and behaviors toward error reporting is important in providing safe, high-quality patient care. The current study aimed to test Turkish validity and reliability of the Incident-Reporting Attitude Scale for Staff in Long-Term Care Facilities. Methods This psychometric study was conducted in two stages with 395 nurses and nurse managers in long-term care at a university hospital between May 2021 and January 2022. First, the Turkish adaptation of the scale was performed. The scale's internal consistency was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and corrected item-total score correlation. Content validity indices were used for content validity, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used for construct validity. Discriminant analysis and internal consistency coefficient were used for reliability analyses. Results The results showed that the Turkish scale adaptation is adequate for language and content equivalence. According to CFA, the scale comprising 31 items and two subscales in the original version showed a significantly good fit in a 26-item and five-factor model. The Cronbach's alpha of the modified scale was 0.92; it was 0.88, 0.94, 0.82, 0.96, and 0.90 for the subscales, respectively. Conclusions The Turkish scale adaptation has consistently shown acceptable psychometric reliability and validity characteristics. It can be used by healthcare services and nursing managers to evaluate nurses’ attitudes toward incident reporting in healthcare facilities providing long-term care.

Abstract:【Objectives】To investigate the relationship between clinical learning environment and clinical performance,and provide suggestions improving teaching.【Methods】107 JSNs and 40 BSNs were investigated by clinical learning environment scale(CLES),and clinical evaluation tool(CET).【Results】The mean score of CLES was(3.07±0.68),and that of CET was(3.61±0.53).The most satisfied section in CLES and CET is the attendance and emotion,while unsatisfied section is individual and knowledge.The coefficient between CLE and CET was 0.211,P 0.01.【Conclusion】Student nurses are satisfied with CLE,and their clinical performance was good.The theory of nursing should be strengthened in teaching.

Abstract:Aim The aim of this study was to conduct a Turkish validity and reliability study of the Gerontological Nursing Competence Scale and to adapt the scale to Turkish culture. Background As the number of older people increses, gerontological nursing requires specialized expertise in older people care. High-quality basic education and further education guarantee good competence in gerontological care. Design A methodological study of instrument translation and validation Methods The study was methodological and the sample consisted of 530 university students who agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected by online interview method using the Introductory Information Form and Gerontological Nursing Competence Scale (GeroNursingCom). Before starting the study, permission was obtained from the ethics committee, the relevant institution, the scale owner and the students. Language equivalence and content validity of the scale were ensured and Confirmatory Factor Analysis Models (CFA) was conducted. Cronbach Alpha and item-total correlation analysis were used for the reliability of the scale. Results The scale was compatible in terms of linguistic fidelity Content Validity Index (CVI) (Language)=0.97 and content fidelity CVI (Content)=0.96. The CFA results showed that the χ 2/ sd value was 1.861 and since this value was less than three, it can be stated that the model provided an excellent fit to the data. Comparative Fit Index (CFI) and Non-normalized Fit Index (NNFI) values were determined as 0.99 and 0.99 respectively and these values being above 0.90 indicate that the model provides an excellent fit to the data. Square Root of Standardized Errors (SRMR) index was 0.045 and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) index was 0.040 and these values were less than 0.080, indicating that the model provided an excellent fit to the data. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.97 was found to be highly reliable and the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficients calculated for the sub-dimensions ranged between 0.77 and 0.91. Conclusions It was determined that the gerontological nursing competence scale is valid and reliable for nursing students and can be used in both student and working nurses living in Turkey.

Abstract:Competency self-efficacy (CSE) in clinical nursing practice is necessitated to be attained by the undergraduate nursing students. It is a significant indicator of the work's acceptance and commitment to nursing roles. Self-efficacy in nursing experience enhances nursing student's abilities to achieve the clinical tasks independently, mainly in wide range field of care like Medical-Surgical Nursing. Some factors are affecting competency self-efficacy in the clinical nursing practice; the most evident factor is the nursing student’s impressions with their clinical learning environment (CLE). In the light of educational preparation for nursing undergraduates, the Faculties of Nursing emphasize to preserve a high quality of clinical learning environment for clinical nursing essentials. The clinical learning environment has an apparent function in building up students' confidence, and competency self-efficacy, particularly, during clinical skills achievement. The current paper aimed to determine undergraduate nursing student's satisfaction about the clinical learning environment and their competency self-efficacy, and then investigate the relationship between both variables. Thus, the study conducted through a descriptive, correlative research design with all nursing students who enrolled in third and fourth academic semesters (second year) during their clinical training in Medical-Surgical Nursing course, Faculty of Nursing, Alexandria University, Egypt. A triple-section questionnaire was used for data collection: First; nursing student’s sociodemographic profile, Second: Clinical Learning Environment Inventory (CLEI) which was constructed by Chan in 2002. Third: Nursing Competency Self Efficacy Scale (CSES) which was developed by Kennedy in 2013. The results showed that the undergraduate nursing students at Medical-Surgical training, Faculty of Nursing, Alexandria University, have a high satisfaction level about the clinical learning environment concerning all components of the clinical placement. As well, they have a high competency self-efficacy level in all nursing activities and tasks in the clinical training. Further, there is an obvious parallel correlation between nursing student's satisfaction about clinical learning environment and their competency self-efficacy which is significant. Conclusion & Recommendations: Adequate and planned arrangements should be settled in the nursing curricula for the nursing clinical training setting. Too, the clinical instructors should encourage students' trials to do difficult nursing tasks in a successful manner which tends to increase the student's competency self-efficacy. Further researches are required to investigate the factors affecting clinical learning environment satisfaction and competency self-efficacy among nursing students in their clinical placement. Additionally, another research is necessary about; developing an educational program about student's competency self-efficacy to guide nursing instructors in clinical training.
Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Form of a New Scale for Nurse Leaders: Coaching-Based Leadership Scale

Abstract:Background: In the current literature, no existing scale that can measure nurse specific coaching-based leadership has been found. Purpose: The study was conducted to determine the Turkish validity and reliability of the Coaching-Based Leadership Scale (CBLS). Methods: The research is methodological. The study was conducted in two sample groups for the employees' and leaders' versions of the scale. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis of the scale revealed that both the employees' and leaders' versions have a 16-item, four-factor structure, and the fit indices were confirmed as follows: for the employees' version: Chi-square (χ2) = 361.948, χ2/degrees of freedom (df) = 4.022, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.133, goodness of fit index (GFI) = 0.808, comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.941, Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.821, and standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) = 0.0317, and for the leaders' version: χ2 = 180.121, χ2/df = 1.896, RMSEA = 0.104, GFI = 0.809, CFI = 0.970, TLI = 0.962, and SRMR = 0.0177. The obtained fit indices indicated a good fit. The scale-item-total score correlations were found to range from r = 0.816 to r = 0.952 for the employees' version and from r = 0.922 to r = 0.968 for the leaders' version, which were determined to be at an acceptable level. It was determined that the Cronbach's alpha (α) reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.98 in the employees' version and the Cronbach's α coefficients of its subdimensions were 0.93 for working alliance, 0.96 for open communication, 0.97 for learning and development, and 0.96 for progress and results. In the leaders' version, the Cronbach's α reliability coefficient was 0.99, while the Cronbach's α coefficients of its subdimensions were found to be 0.93 for working alliance, 0.96 for open communication, 0.97 for learning and development, and 0.96 for progress and results. Conclusion: It has been determined that the CBLS is a valid and reliable measurement tool for Turkish nursing employees and managers.

Abstract:Spiritual care is an important part of holistic care and is at the center of nursing/midwifery care. Nurses/midwives are expected to graduate by receiving adequate training in spiritual care and gaining spiritual care competence during their student days. It is important to evaluate the spiritual care competencies of nursing/midwifery students and to correct the deficiencies, if any. Therefore, a self-assessment tool is needed to increase awareness and knowledge and improve skills and attitudes in the field of spirituality and pastoral care. One of these tools is EPICC (Enhancing Nurses' and Midwives' Competence in Providing Spiritual Care through Innovative Education and Compassionate Care). This EPICC Spiritual Care Education Standard describes the spiritual care competencies expected from undergraduate nursing and midwifery students. For every competence, the learning outcomes are described in aspects of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. This research was conducted with a methodological design to ensure that the Turkish version of the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool can be used as a reliable and valid measurement tool in nursing research in Turkey. Methodological and cross-sectional research design was used in the research method. The research was carried out with 300 nursing and midwifery students in Turkey. Data were collected using the personal information form and the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool. The results of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the four-factor structure of the scale. Cronbach's α , item-total correlation, test–retest analysis, and equivalent form analysis showed high reliability. EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool For Student Nurses And Midwives: Turkish Validity And Reliability Study consists of 24 items on a five-point Likert-type scale. The Turkish version of the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool is a valid and reliable tool for assessing the Spiritual Care Competencies of nursing and midwifery students. Evaluating the Spiritual Care Competencies of nursing and midwifery students is an important issue, it is now possible in Turkey with this scale given its validity and reliability.

Abstract:Introduction: The clinical learning environment is the context of overlap between the educational system and the working environment. Here students apply the knowledge learned during theoretical teachings, acquire practical, relational and caring skills. It is fundamental for nursing training and there are several rating scales aimed at evaluating it: the presence and quality of the studies that investigate their performances are heterogeneous, so it is difficult to identify the best tool. The CLEI-19 scale is the most concise instrument and its performance has not been tested in the Italian context. Objectives: The study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the instrument in terms of factor structure and reliability. Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional observational study was conducted in Italy, at the University of Milan-Bicocca. Two tools were used: a context data collection questionnaire and the Italian CLEI-19 scale. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, the scale's factorial structure was tested by Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling ESEM. The reliability of the scale was evaluated by Alpha and Omega coefficients. Results: The sample consists of 1095 statistical units. The factor analysis shows the presence of two latent factors that have been called Internship Assistant and Internship Environment. They correlate significantly and the fit indices confirm the solidity of the two-factor model. Internal coherence was adequate or more than adequate for single factors and overall tool. Conclusions: The CLEI-19 scale is a reliable tool, which comprehensively investigates the two key components of the clinical learning environment: the Internship Assistant and the Environment. The employment simplifies the process of evaluating the internship environment, offers the possibility of improving its quality, facilitates the comparison between realities and enhances the perception of students.

Abstract:Aim This study aims to adapt the "Nursing Practice Readiness Scale" to Turkish culture, and evaluate its psychometric properties. Background New graduates' nursing practice readiness can impact their work adaptation and performance. Design The research employed a methodological design. Methods Data were collected between May and July 2022. The sample consisted of 436 newly graduated nurses. Content validity, construct validity and criterion validity were evaluated. Reliability was examined with adjusted item‐total correlation, Cronbach's a coefficient, composite‐reliability and split‐half reliability. Results The Turkish version of Nursing Practice Readiness Scale was found to have good content and criterion validity. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the original five‐factor structure of the scale was also confirmed for the Turkish version. The scale's overall Cronbach's α coefficient was determined to be 0.96, with subscale coefficients ranging from 0.73 to 0.94. The composite reliability values of the subscales were found between 0.75 and 0.94. In split‐half reliability, the correlation coefficient between half was 0.952, with a Spearman–Brown Coefficient (Unequal Length) of 0.976. Conclusions The Turkish version of Nursing Practice Readiness Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating the nursing practice readiness of newly graduated nurses.

Abstract:Objectives The study used a methodological design to adapt a Turkish translation and validate the Bolton Compassion Strengths Indicators scale. Methods The sample of the study consisted of 500 nursing students. Partial least squares structural equation modelling was used to analyze the construct and internal validiy. The values of average variance explained were analyzed for convergent validity. Tukey's test of additivity examined the additivity, and Hotelling's T2 test examined the mean difference between items. Internal consistency and test–retest reliability were ensured for reliability. Test and retest scores were compared by applying the paired samples t-test and Wilcoxon test, and the fit was analyzed through the intra-class correlation coefficient. Results The Turkish version of the scale consisted of 34 items and 8 subscales. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the overall scale was 0.954. The scale was highly reliable and displayed psychometric solid properties. Significance of results It has been determined that the Turkish version of the Bolton Compassion Strengths Indicators scale is a comprehensive, easy-to-understand measurement tool with a broad perspective that can be safely applied to future nurse candidate students. The scale has been evaluated as a reliable measurement tool that can provide cross-cultural measurement.
