Abstract:An inverse theorem for the best weighted polynomial approximation of a function in$L_{w_\alpha }^p $ (S) is established. We also investigate Besov spaces generated by Freud weight and their connection with algebraic polynomial approximation in$L_p (R)_{W_\lambda } $, wherew α is a Jacobi-type weight onS, 0<p ≤ ∞,S is a simplex andW λ is a Freud weight. For Ditzian-TotikK-functionals onL p(S), 1 ≤p ≤ ∞, we obtain a new equivalence expression.

Abstract:The best polynomial approximation is closely related to the Ditzian–Totik modulus of smoothness. In 1988, Z. Ditzian and V. Totik gave some equivalences between them and the class of Besov-type spacesBα,spwith 1≤p≤∞ and 1≤s≤∞. We extend these equivalences to the similar Besov-type spaces with 0<s<1. We also give some new equivalences by means of the behavior of best polynomial approximation.

Abstract:In this work, we construct a new kind of Bernstein–Schurer operators which includes non-negative real parameter $$\alpha $$. We study some shape preserving properties, namely, monotonicity and convexity of the new operators. We obtain global approximation formula in terms of Ditzian–Totik uniform modulus of smoothness of first and second order and calculate the local direct estimate of the rate of convergence with the help of Lipschitz-type function for our operators. The Voronovskaja-type approximation theorems of the new operators are presented. Finally, in the last section, we provide some graphs, MATLAB code and numerical examples in order to illustrate the significance of our newly constructed operators.

Abstract:In this study, by obtaining some Korovkin type approximation results in statistical sense for certain positive linear operators constructed by means of the Chan-Chyan-Srivastava multivariable polynomials [W.-C.C. Chan, C.-J. Chyan, H.M. Srivastava, The Lagrange polynomials in several variables, Integral Transform. Spec. Funct. 12 (2001) 139-148], we show that our approximation method is stronger than the corresponding classical aspects in the approximation theory settings. Furthermore, we investigate their statistical rates by means of the modulus of continuity and the elements of the Lipschitz class.

Abstract:We develop a general, functional calculus approach to approximation of $C_0$-semigroups on Banach spaces by bounded completely monotone functions of their generators. The approach comprises most of well-known approximation formulas, yields optimal convergence rates, and sometimes even leads to sharp constants. In an important particular case when semigroups are holomorphic, we are able to significantly improve our results for general semigroups. Moreover, we present several second order approximation formulas with rates, which in such a general form appear in the literature for the first time.

A Kovovkin type approximation theorem is obtained, the rate of convergence and A -statistical convergence are investigated by using the modulus of smoothness, Steklov mean and Korovkin-type statistical approximation theorem, graphical representations and numerical examples are also presented to compare the newly defined ones with other forms. Finally, an asymptotic estimate on the rate of convergence for some absolutely continuous functions are derived by using the Bojainc–Cheng decomposition method and some analysis techniques.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce and investigate a new class of the parametric generalization of the Baskakov-Schurer-Szász-Stancu operators, which considerably extends the well-known class of the classical Baskakov-Schurer-Szász-Stancu approximation operators. For this new class of approximation operators, we present a Korovkin type theorem and a Grüss-Voronovskaya type theorem, and also study the rate of its convergence. Moreover, we derive several results which are related to the parametric generalization of the Baskakov-Schurer-Szász-Stancu operators in the weighted spaces. Finally, we prove some shape-preserving properties for the parametric generalization of the Baskakov-Schurer-Szász-Stancu operators and, as a special case, we deduce the corresponding shape-preserving properties for the classical Baskakov-Schurer-Szász-Stancu approximation operators.

Abstract:In this article, for the first time, the univariate symmetrized and perturbed hyperbolic tangent activated convolution-type operators of three kinds are introduced. Their approximation properties are presented, i.e., the quantitative convergence to the unit operator via the modulus of continuity. It follows the global smoothness preservation of these operators. The related iterated approximation as well as the simultaneous approximation and their combinations, are also extensively presented. Including differentiability and fractional differentiability into our research produced higher rates of approximation. Simultaneous global smoothness preservation is also examined.

Abstract:We obtain approximation results for general positive linear operators satisfying mild conditions, when acting on discontinuous functions and absolutely continuous functions having discontinuous derivatives. The upper bounds, given in terms of a local first modulus of continuity, are best possible, in the sense that we can construct particular sequences of operators attaining them. When applied to functions of bounded variation or absolutely continuous functions having derivatives of bounded variation, these upper bounds are better and simpler to compute than the usual total variation bounds. The particular case of the Bernstein polynomials is thoroughly discussed. We use a probabilistic approach based on representations of such operators in terms of expectations of random variables.

Abstract:This article contributes to the new summation of Szász operators with the help of Appell polynomials of class $A^{2}$. We verified Bohman-Korovkin's theorem and prove the convergence results like Lipschitz-type space, Voronvaskaja-type asymptotic formula, and modulus of continuity using the given operators. Furthermore, we have shown the weighted modulus of continuity and the derivative of bounded variation.

Abstract:In Gauthier, Manolaki, and Nestoridis (2021, Advances in Mathematics 381, 107649), in order to correct a false Mergelyan-type statement given in Gamelin and Garnett (1969, Transactions of the American Mathematical Society 143, 187–200) on uniform approximation on compact sets K in , the authors introduced a natural function algebra which is smaller than the classical one . In the present paper, we investigate when these two algebras coincide and compare them with the classes of all plausibly approximable functions by polynomials or rational functions or functions holomorphic on open sets containing the compact set K . Finally, we introduce a notion of O -hull of K and strengthen known results.

Simultaneous approximation by operators of exponential type

Abstract:There are many results on the simultaneous approximation by sequences of special positive linear operators. In the year 1978, Ismail and May as well as Volkov independently studied operators of exponential type covering the most classical approximation operators. In this paper we study asymptotic properties of these class of operators. We prove that under certain conditions, asymptotic expansions for sequences of operators belonging to a slightly larger class of operators, can be differentiated term-by-term. This general theorem contains several results which were previously obtained by several authors for concrete operators. One corollary states, that the complete asymptotic expansion for the Bernstein polynomials can be differentiated term-by-term. This implies a well-known result on the Voronovskaja formula obtained by Floater.

Abstract:This paper aims at approximation of functions by linear integral operators on variable exponent spaces associated with a general exponent function on a domain of a Euclidean space. Under a log-Hölder continuity assumption of the exponent function, we present quantitative estimates for the approximation and solve an open problem raised in our earlier work. As applications of our key estimates, we provide high orders of approximation by quasi-interpolation type and linear combinations of Bernstein type integral operators on variable exponent spaces. We also introduce K-functionals and moduli of smoothness on variable exponent spaces and discuss their relationships and applications.

Abstract:In this article, we propose a new sequence of α -Bernstein-Kantorovich type operators based on a parameter ζ , and to study approximation behavior of our operators, we establish local and global approximation theorems. Also, we introduce bivariate α -Bernstein-Kantorovich operators and estimate the Voronovskaya type asymptotic theorem and the order of approximation using Peetre's K -functional. Abstract:In the present manuscript, we study the approximation properties of modified Szász Kantorovich operators with a new modification of blending type which depends on parameters, and . Further, we prove a Korovkin-type approximation theorem and obtain the rate of convergence of these operators. Next, their graphical depiction, error analysis and convergence behaviour of these operators for the different functional spaces are discussed. Moreover, univariate and bivariate version of these sequences of operators are introduced in their respective blocks. Rate of convergence, order of approximation, local approximation, global approximation in terms of weight function and A -statistical approximation results are investigated via first and second-order modulus of smoothness, Lipschitz classes, Peetre's K -functional in different spaces of functions.
