Abstract:Microstructured catalyst were prepared by in-situ growth of PBAs onto copper foam.Homogenously dispersed PBAs with size of 350 nm formed on the surface of copper foam. The structured catalyst exhibits a high catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-NP.The catalyst showed highly catalytic activity with rate constant (k) of 1.204 min−1.The catalyst exhibits high stability and superior reusability even after six cycles .Catalytic reduction of 4-NP containing wastewater is highly desirable for the practical treatment of industrial wastewater. As one of the most well-established categories of coordination compound, Prussian Blue analogues (PBAs) have been found to show promising catalytic activities for 4-NP reduction. However, the nanoscale particle size hinder its application because of difficult separation, easy to loss during the recycling process and potential ecotoxicity. In this work, microstructured catalyst were prepared by in-situ growth of PBAs onto copper foam, and its catalytic performance for the hydrogenation of 4-NP to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) was investigated. Results showed that highly dispersed PBAs with size of ~ 350 nm were homogenously formed over the surface of copper foam. The structured catalyst exhibited good catalytic activity with conversion of 100% within 4 min, and with an activation energy (<em>Ea</em>) of 15.16 kJ·mol−1 and turn over frequency (TOF) of 0.171 <em>s</em>−1. These are comparable to most catalysts that have been reported. In addition, a homemade continuous flow catalysis system was constructed and the performance of the catalyst was investigated. Furthermore, no obvious deactivation was observed even after 6 cycles of catalytic reduction of 4-NP, showing its good catalytic stability and reusability. This study put forward a feasible approach to develop PBAs based catalyst for the practical application in industry.<span class="display"><span><ol class="links-for-figure"><li><a class="anchor download-link u-font-sans" href="https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S1876107021001747-fx1_lrg.jpg"><span class="anchor-text">Download : <span class="download-link-title">Download high-res image (179KB)</span></span></a></li><li><a class="anchor download-link u-font-sans" href="https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S1876107021001747-fx1.jpg"><span class="anchor-text">Download : <span class="download-link-title">Download full-size image</span></span></a></li></ol></span></span>
