Abstract:In this paper, we consider the local approximation by Baskakov-Durrmeyer operators. The continuous functions of local Lipschitz-alpha (0<alpha<1) on any subset. of [0, infinity) are characterized by the local rate of convergence of Baskakov-Durrmeyer operators. The main difference between these operators and their classical and Kantorovich-variants respectively is that they have commutativity, which is crucial for our purpose. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
Moduli of Smoothness and Polynomial Approximation on the Unit Sphere

Abstract:There are several different well studied moduli of smoothness on the unit sphere, including the classical one defined via the translation operators (i.e., averages over rims of spherical caps), the one introduced by Z. Ditzian via the group of rotations, and the recent one introduced by Y. Xu and myself via finite order differences over Euler angles. This paper surveys some properties of these three different moduli of smoothness and some related results obtained recently, such as the direct Jackson inequality and its Stechkin type inverse, the strong inverse inequality of type A and the equivalence with different K-functionals. I will also compare different moduli of smoothness and show that they are in fact equivalent in L spaces with 1 < p < ∞.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, Volume 56, Issue 3, Page 4006-4039, June 2024. We prove Besov boundary regularity for solutions of the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for fractional-order quasi-linear operators with variable coefficients on Lipschitz domains [math] of [math]. Our estimates are consistent with the boundary behavior of solutions on smooth domains and apply to fractional [math]-Laplacians and operators with finite horizon. The proof exploits the underlying variational structure and uses a new and flexible local translation operator. We further apply these regularity estimates to derive novel error estimates for finite element approximations of fractional [math]-Laplacians and present several simulations that reveal the boundary behavior of solutions.

Abstract:Mathematics has several uses for operators on bounded symmetric domains of Bergman spaces including complex geometry, functional analysis, harmonic analysis and operator theory. They offer instruments for examining the interaction between complex function theory and the underlying domain geometry. Here, we extend the Atangana-Baleanu fractional differential operator acting on a special type of class of analytic functions with the $ m $-fold symmetry characteristic in a bounded symmetric domain (we suggest the open unit disk). We explore the most significant geometric properties, including convexity and star-likeness. The boundedness in the weighted Bergman and the convex Bergman spaces associated with a bounded symmetric domain is investigated. A dual relations exist in these spaces. The subordination and superordination inequalities are presented. Our method is based on Young's convolution inequality.

Furthermore, the similar definitions and results of multilinear fractional Hardy-type operators with rough kernels are obtained.

Abstract:We investigate the regularity properties of discrete multisublinear fractional maximal operators, both in the centered and uncentered versions. We prove that these operators are bounded and continuous from ℓ1(ℤd) × ℓ1(ℤd) × · · · × ℓ1(ℤd) to BV(ℤd), where BV(ℤd) is the set of functions of bounded variation defined on ℤd. Moreover, two pointwise estimates for the partial derivatives of discrete multisublinear fractional maximal functions are also given. As applications, we present the regularity properties for discrete fractional maximal operator, which are new even in the linear case.

Particularly, we establish new existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for the system when alpha + beta = 2 . 2(mu)*, whose key is providing an accurate upper bound of the least energy.

Abstract:Let $0<t<\infty$, $0<\alpha<n$, $1<p<r<\infty$ and $1<q<s<\infty$. In this paper, we prove that $b\in B M O\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)$ if and only if the commutator $[b, T_{\Omega,\alpha}]$ generated by the fractional integral operator with the rough kernel $T_{\Omega,\alpha}$ and the locally integrable function $b$ is bounded from the slice space $(E_{p}^{q})_{t}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ to $(E_{r}^{s})_{t}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$. Meanwhile, we also show that $b\in Lip_\beta(\mathbb{R}^{n}) $($0<\beta<1)$ if and only if the commutator $\left[b, T_{\Omega,\alpha}\right]$ is bounded from $(E_{p}^{q})_{t}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ to $(E_{r}^{s})_{t}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$.

Abstract:This paper deals with the following fractional elliptic equation with critical exponent \[ \begin{cases} \displaystyle (-\Delta )^{s}u=u_{+}^{2_{s}^{*}-1}+\lambda u-\bar{\nu}\varphi_{1}, & \text{in}\ \Omega,\\ \displaystyle u=0, & \text{in}\ {{\mathfrak R}}^{N}\backslash \Omega, \end{cases}\] where $\lambda$ , $\bar {\nu }\in {{\mathfrak R}}$ , $s\in (0,1)$ , $2^{*}_{s}=({2N}/{N-2s})\,(N>2s)$ , $(-\Delta )^{s}$ is the fractional Laplace operator, $\Omega \subset {{\mathfrak R}}^{N}$ is a bounded domain with smooth boundary and $\varphi _{1}$ is the first positive eigenfunction of the fractional Laplace under the condition $u=0$ in ${{\mathfrak R}}^{N}\setminus \Omega$ . Under suitable conditions on $\lambda$ and $\bar {\nu }$ and using a Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method, we prove the fractional version of the Lazer-McKenna conjecture which says that the equation above has infinitely many solutions as $|\bar \nu | \to \infty$ .

Making use of them, we prove then the main result of this note that the two notions of uniform q-convexity and uniform p-smoothness of an operator T introduced by J. Abstract:We study existence, uniqueness and boundary blow-up profile for fractional harmonic functions on a bounded smooth domain Ω⊂RN . We deal with harmonic functions associated to uniformly elliptic, fully nonlinear nonlocal operators, including the linear case (−Δ)su=0 in Ω, where (−Δ)s denotes the fractional Laplacian of order 2s∈(0,2) . We use the viscosity solution's theory and Perron's method to construct harmonic functions with zero exterior condition in Ωc and a boundary blow-up profile limx→x0,x∈Ωdist(x,∂Ω)1−su(x)=h(x0), for all x0∈∂Ω, for any given boundary data h∈C(∂Ω) . Our method allows us to provide a blow-up rate for the gradient of the solution.

Abstract:A new modulus of smoothness based on the Euler angles is introduced on the unit sphere and is shown to satisfy all the usual characteristic properties of moduli of smoothness, including direct and inverse theorem for the best approximation by polynomials and its equivalence to a K-functional, defined via partial derivatives in Euler angles. The set of results on the moduli on the sphere serves as a basis for defining new moduli of smoothness and their corresponding K-functionals on the unit ball, which are used to characterize the best approximation by polynomials on the ball. Local Regularity of very weak $s$-harmonic functions via fractional difference quotients

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to give a new proof that any very weak $s$-harmonic function $u$ in the unit ball $B$ is smooth. As a first step, we improve the local summability properties of $u$. Then, we exploit a suitable version of the difference quotient method tailored to get rid of the singularity of the integral kernel and gain Sobolev regularity and local linear estimates of the $H^{s}_{\rm loc}$ norm of $u$. Finally, by applying more standard methods, such as elliptic regularity and Schauder estimates, we reach real analyticity of $u$. Up to the authors' knowledge, the difference quotient techniques are new.

Abstract:We define the fractional powers $L^s=(-a^{ij}(x)\partial_{ij})^s$, $0 < s < 1$, of nondivergence form elliptic operators $L=-a^{ij}(x)\partial_{ij}$ in bounded domains $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n$, under minimal regularity assumptions on the coefficients $a^{ij}(x)$ and on the boundary $\partial\Omega$. We show that these fractional operators appear in several applications such as fractional Monge--Ampère equations, elasticity, and finance. The solution $u$ to the nonlocal Poisson problem $$\begin{cases} (-a^{ij}(x) \partial_{ij})^su = f&\hbox{in}~\Omega\\ u=0&\hbox{on}~\partial\Omega \end{cases}$$ is characterized by a local degenerate/singular extension problem. We develop the method of sliding paraboloids in the Monge--Ampère geometry and prove the interior Harnack inequality and Hölder estimates for solutions to the extension problem when the coefficients $a^{ij}(x)$ are bounded, measurable functions. This in turn implies the interior Harnack inequality and Hölder estimates for solutions $u$ to the fractional problem.

Abstract:Necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for a fractional Orlicz-Sobolev space on $\rn$ to be continuously embedded into a space of uniformly continuous functions. The optimal modulus of continuity is exhibited whenever these conditions are fulfilled. These results pertain to the supercritical Sobolev regime and complement earlier sharp embeddings into rearrangement-invariant spaces concerning the subcritical setting. Classical embeddings for fractional Sobolev spaces into Hölder spaces are recovered as special instances. Proofs require novel strategies, since customary methods fail to produce optimal conclusions.

Abstract:We introduce a fractional magnetic pseudorelativistic operator for a general fractional order $s\in(0,1)$. First we define a suitable functional setting and we prove some fundamental properties. Then we show the behavior of the operator as $s \nearrow 1$ obtaining some results à la Bourgain-Brezis-Mironescu and removing the singularity from the integral definition. Finally we get existence of weak solutions for some semilinear equations involving a power type nonlinearity or a nonlocal (Choquard type) term.

Abstract:In this paper we prove necessary conditions for the boundedness of fractional operators on the variable Lebesgue spaces. More precisely, we find necessary conditions on an exponent function $\pp$ for a fractional maximal operator $M_\alpha$ or a non-degenerate fractional singular integral operator $T_\alpha$, $0 \leq \alpha < n$, to satisfy weak $(\pp,\qq)$ inequalities or strong $(\pp,\qq)$ inequalities, with $\qq$ being defined pointwise almost everywhere by % \[ \frac{1}{p(x)} - \frac{1}{q(x)} = \frac{\alpha}{n}. \] % We first prove preliminary results linking fractional averaging operators and the $K_0^\alpha$ condition, a qualitative condition on $\pp$ related to the norms of characteristic functions of cubes, and show some useful implications of the $K_0^\alpha$ condition. We then show that if $M_\alpha$ satisfies weak $(\pp,\qq)$ inequalities, then $\pp \in K_0^\alpha(\R^n)$. We use this to prove that if $M_\alpha$ satisfies strong $(\pp,\qq)$ inequalities, then $p_->1$. Finally, we prove a powerful pointwise estimate for $T_\alpha$ that relates $T_\alpha$ to $M_\alpha$ along a carefully chosen family of cubes. This allows us to prove necessary conditions for fractional singular integral operators similar to those for fractional maximal operators.
