Abstract:Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) have transcellular pores, called fenestrations, participating in the bidirectional transport between the vascular system and liver parenchyma. Fenestrated LSECs indicate a healthy phenotype of liver while loss of fenestrations (defenestration) in LSECs is associated with liver pathologies.
