Abstract:We show that for an artin algebra $\Lambda$, the telescope conjecture for module categories is equivalent to certain idempotent ideals of mod-$\Lambda$ being generated by identity morphisms. As a consequence, we prove the conjecture for domestic standard selfinjective algebras and domestic special biserial algebras. We achieve this by showing that in any Krull-Schmidt category with local d.c.c. on ideals, any idempotent ideal is generated by identity maps and maps from the transfinite radical.

Abstract:We show that the small and large restricted injective dimensions coincide for Cohen-Macaulay rings of finite Krull dimension. Based on this, and inspired by the recent work of Sather-Wagstaff and Totushek, we suggest a new definition of Cohen-Macaulay Hom injective dimension. We show that the class of Cohen-Macaulay Hom injective modules is the right constituent of a perfect cotorsion pair. Our approach relies on tilting theory, and in particular, on the explicit construction of the tilting module inducing the minimal tilting class recently obtained in (Hrbek et al. 2022).

On the injective dimension of unit Cartier and Frobenius modules

Abstract:Let $R$ be a regular $F$-finite ring of prime characteristic $p$. We prove that the injective dimension of every unit Frobenius module $M$ in the category of unit Frobenius modules is at most $\operatorname{dim}(\operatorname{Supp}_R(M))+1$. We further show that for unit Cartier modules the same bound holds over any noetherian $F$-finite ring $A$ of prime characteristic $p$. This shows that $\dim A+1$ is a uniform upper bound for the injective dimension of any unit Cartier module over a noetherian $F$-finite ring $A$.

Abstract:We give a method to study the finiteness of the coradical filtration of a coalgebra; as a consequence, we show that a left semiartinian profinite algebra has nilpotent Jacobson radical and is right semiartinian too. Equivalently, we show that a for a semilocal profinite algebra, T-nilpotence implies nilpotence for the Jacobson radical. This answers two open questions from \cite{INT}.

Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a Hopf algebroid and [Formula: see text] a left [Formula: see text]-module algebra. In this paper, we mainly present the duality theorem for the smash product [Formula: see text], and making use of integral theory for Hopf algebroids, we investigate the stability of Gorenstein injective pre-envelopes and Gorenstein projective precovers between the category of [Formula: see text]-modules and the category of [Formula: see text]-modules. Moreover, we establish the relationship between Gorenstein global dimension of [Formula: see text] and that of [Formula: see text], and prove that [Formula: see text] has finite representation type, resp. is selfinjective, resp. is CM-finite [Formula: see text]-Gorenstein, if and only if [Formula: see text] has the same property under suitable conditions. As an application, we investigate the representation dimension of the lower triangular matrix Artin algebra [Formula: see text].

Abstract:Given a two-sided noetherian ring $A$ with a dualizing complex, we show that the big finitistic dimension of $A$ is finite if and only if every bounded below Gorenstein-projective-acyclic cochain complex of Gorenstein-projective $A$-modules is contractible. If $A$ is further assumed to be an Artin algebra, we also prove a Gorenstein variant of a theorem of Rickard, showing its finitistic dimension is finite in case its Gorenstein-injective derived category is generated by the Gorenstein-injective modules.

Abstract:Let $(R,\frak m, k)$ be a noetherian local ring. It is well-known that $R$ is regular if and only if the injective dimension of $k$ is finite. In this paper it is shown that $R$ is Gorenstein if and only if the Gorenstein injective dimension of $k$ is finite. On the other hand a generalized version of the so-called Bass formula is proved for finitely generated modules of finite Gorenstein injective dimension. It also improves Christensen's generalized Bass formula (cf. "Gorenstein dimensions", volume 1747 of Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 2000).

On the stable radical of the module category for special biserial algebras

Abstract:Suppose $\Lambda$ is a special biserial algebra over an algebraically closed field. Schröer showed that if $\Lambda$ is domestic then the radical of the category of finitely generated (left) $\Lambda$-modules is nilpotent, and the least ordinal, denoted $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)$, where the decreasing sequence of powers of the radical stabilizes satisfies $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)<\omega^2$. With Gupta and Sardar, the third author conjectured that if $\Lambda$ has at least one band then $\omega\le\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)<\omega^2$ even when $\Lambda$ is non-domestic. In this paper we settle this conjecture in the affirmative. We also describe an algorithm to compute $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)$ up to a finite error. We also show that for each $\omega\leq\alpha<\omega^2$ there is a finite-dimensional tame representation type algebra $\Gamma$ with $\mathrm{st}(\Gamma)=\alpha$.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate finite rank operators in the Jacobson radical $\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}} $ of Alg($\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}$), where $\mathcal{N}, \mathcal{M}$ are nests. Based on the concrete characterizations of rank one operators in Alg($\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}$) and $\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}} $, we obtain that each finite rank operator in $\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}} $ can be written as a finite sum of rank one operators in $\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}} $ and the weak closure of $\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}} $ equals Alg($\mathcal{N} \otimes \mathcal{M}$) if and only if at least one of $\mathcal{N}, \mathcal{M}$ is continuous.

Abstract:First, we prove an algebraization result for rig-smooth algebras over a general noetherian ring; this positively answers the question raised in [Sta24, Tag 0GAX]. Then we prove a general partial algebraization result in non-archimedean geometry. The result says that we can always algebraize a geometrically reduced affinoid rigid-analytic space in "one direction" in an appropriate sense. As an application of this result, we show the remaining cases of the Artin-Grothendieck Vanishing for affinoid algebras, which were previously conjectured in [BM21, §7]. This allows us to deduce a stronger version of the rigid-analytic Artin-Grothendieck Vanishing Conjecture (see [Han20, Conj. 1.2]) over a field of characteristic 0. Using a completely different set of ideas, we also obtain a weaker version of this conjecture over a field of characteristic p>0.

Abstract:We answer a question by Shestakov on the Jacobson radical in differential polynomial rings. We show that if R is a locally nilpotent ring with a derivation D then R[X;D] need not be Jacobson radical. We also show that J(R[X;D])\cap R is a nil ideal of R in the case where D is a locally nilpotent derivation and R is an algebra over an uncountable field.

Abstract:For a ring $A$, we consider the question whether every bounded above cochain complex of injective $A$-modules which is acyclic is null-homotopic. We show that if $A$ is left and right noetherian and has a dualizing complex, then this implies that the finitistic dimension of $A$ is finite. In the appendix, Nakamura and Thompson show that the opposite holds over any ring. Our results give several new necessary and sufficient conditions for a ring to have finite finitistic dimension in a very general setting. Applications include a generalization of a recent result of Rickard about relations between unbounded derived categories and finitistic dimension, as well as several new characterizations of noetherian rings which satisfy the Gorenstein symmetry conjecture.

Abstract:ABSTRACT For an algebraic number α we consider the orders of the reductions of α in finite fields. In the case where α is an integer, it is known by the work on Artin’s primitive root conjecture that the order is ‘almost always almost maximal’ assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH), but unconditional results remain modest. We consider higher-degree variants under GRH. First, we modify an argument of Roskam to settle the case where α and the reduction have degree two. Second, we give a positive lower density result when α is of degree three and the reduction is of degree two. Third, we give higher-rank results in situations where the reductions are of degree two, three, four or six. As an application we give an almost equidistribution result for linear recurrences modulo primes. Finally, we present a general result conditional to GRH and a hypothesis on smooth values of polynomials at prime arguments.

Gorenstein modules and dimension over large families of infinite groups

Abstract:We give characterizations of Gorenstein projective, Gorenstein flat and Gorenstein injective modules over the group algebra for large families of infinite groups and show that every weak Gorenstein projective, weak Gorenstein flat and weak Gorenstein injective module is Gorenstein projective, Gorenstein flat and Gorenstein injective, respectively. These characterizations provide Gorenstein analogues of Benson's cofibrant modules. We deduce that, over a commutative ring of finite Gorenstein weak global dimension, every Gorenstein projective module is Gorenstein flat. Moreover, we study cases where the tensor product and the group of homomorphisms between modules over the group algebra is a Gorenstein module. Finally, we determine the Gorenstein homological dimension of an $\textsc{\textbf{lh}}\mathfrak{F}$-group over a commutative ring of finite Gorenstein weak global dimension.

With the invariants spli and silp of the categories, we give some upper bounds of Gorenstein global dimensions of the categories involved in a recollement of abelian categories. Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be an artin algebra and $\mathcal{C}$ be a functorially finite subcategory of mod$\Lambda$ which contains $\Lambda$ or $D\Lambda$. We use the concept of the infinite radical of $\mathcal{C}$ and show that $\mathcal{C}$ has an additive generator if and only if rad$^\infty_{\mathcal{C}}$ vanishes. In this case we describe the morphisms in powers of the radical of $\mathcal{C}$ in terms of its irreducible morphisms. Moreover, under a mild assumption, we prove that $\mathcal{C}$ is of finite representation type if and only if any family of monomorphisms (epimorphisms) between indecomposable objects in $\mathcal{C}$ is noetherian (conoetherian). Also, by using injective envelopes, projective covers, left $\mathcal{C}$-approximations and right $\mathcal{C}$-approximations of simple $\Lambda$-modules, we give other criteria to describe whether $\mathcal{C}$ is of finite representation type. In addition, we give a nilpotency index of the radical of $\mathcal{C}$ which is independent from the maximal length of indecomposable $\Lambda$-modules in $\mathcal{C}$.

Abstract:Following our previous work about quasi-projective dimension, in this paper, we introduce quasi-injective dimension as a generalization of injective dimension. We recover several well-known results about injective and Gorenstein-injective dimensions in the context of quasi-injective dimension such as the following. (a) If the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module $M$ over a local ring $R$ is finite, then it is equal to the depth of $R$. (b) If there exists a finitely generated module of finite quasi-injective dimension and maximal Krull dimension, then $R$ is Cohen-Macaulay. (c) If there exists a nonzero finitely generated module with finite projective dimension and finite quasi-injective dimension, then $R$ is Gorenstein. (d) Over a Gorenstein local ring, the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module is finite if and only if its quasi-projective dimension is finite.

Abstract:The paper is devoted to the study of deformations of Artinian algebras and zero-dimensional germs of varieties. In particular, an approach is developed to solving the open problem about the nonexistence of rigid Artinian algebras; it is based essentially on the use of the canonical duality in the cotangent complex. Thus, it is shown that there are no rigid Gorenstein Artinian algebras and rigid almost complete intersections. The proof of the latter statement is based on the properties of the torsion functors. More precisely, the tensor product of the conormal and canonical modules of the corresponding Artinian algebra is calculated. In this case, the homology and cohomology groups of higher degrees are also found. Among other things, some estimates are obtained for the dimension of the spaces of the first lower and upper cotangent functors of Artinian algebras, and the relationship between them is described. In conclusion, several examples of nonsmoothable Artinian noncomplete intersections are examined, and some unusual properties of such algebras are discussed.

Abstract:Optimal upper bounds are provided for the dominant dimensions of Nakayama algebras and more generally algebras $A$ with an idempotent $e$ such that there is a minimal faithful injective-projective module $eA$ and such that $eAe$ is a Nakayama algebra.
