Abstract:Takemura et al. aim to understand the evolutionary origin of the vertical occipital fasciculus (VOF), a white matter tract connecting the dorsal and ventral visual cortex. Although primates exhibit a prominent VOF, clear evidence for the VOF is absent in non-primates. These results suggest the VOF has greatly expanded, or possibly emerged, in primates.
