Abstract:In this note, we define a recollement of additive categories, and prove that such a recollement can induce a recollement of their quotient categories. As an application, we get a recollement of quotient triangulated categories induced by mutation pairs.

Abstract:A notion of mutation of subcategories in a right triangulated category is defined in this paper. When (Z,Z) is a D-mutation pair in a right triangulated category C, the quotient category Z/D carries naturally a right triangulated structure. More-over, if the right triangulated category satisfies some reasonable conditions, then the right triangulated quotient category Z/D becomes a triangulated category. When C is triangulated, our result unifies the constructions of the quotient triangulated categories by Iyama-Yoshino and by Jørgensen respectively.

Abstract:Extriangulated categories were introduced by Nakaoka and Palu by extracting the similarities between exact categories and triangulated categories. A notion of mutation of subcategories in an extriangulated category is defined in this paper. Let A be an extension closed subcategory of an extriangulated category C. Then the additive quotient category M:=A/[X] carries naturally a triangulated structure whenever (A,A) forms an X-mutation pair. This result generalizes many results of the same type for triangulated categories. It is used to give a classification of thick triangulated subcategories of pre-triangulated category C/[X], where X is functorially finite in C. When C has Auslander–Reiten translation τ, we prove that for a functorially finite subcategory X of C containing projectives and injectives, the quotient C/[X] is a triangulated category if and only if (C,C) is X-mutation, and if and only if τX_=X‾. This generalizes a result by Jørgensen who proved the equivalence between the first and the third conditions for triangulated categories. Furthermore, we show that for such a subcategory X of the extriangulated category C, C admits a new extriangulated structure such that C is a Frobenius extriangulated category. Applications to exact categories and triangulated categories are given. From the applications we present extriangulated categories which are neither exact categories nor triangulated categories.

Abstract:Geiss, Keller and Oppermann (2013) introduced the notion of n-angulated category, which is a “higher dimensional” analogue of triangulated category, and showed that certain (n-2)-cluster tilting subcategories of triangulated categories give rise to n-angulated categories. We define mutation pairs in n-angulated categories and prove that given such a mutation pair, the corresponding quotient category carries a natural n-angulated structure. This result generalizes a theorem of Iyama-Yoshino (2008) for triangulated categories.

Abstract:We define mutation pair in a pseudo-triangulated category. We prove that under certain conditions, for a mutation pair in a pseudo-triangulated category, the corresponding quotient category carries a natural triangulated structure. This result unifies many previous constructions of quotient triangulated categories.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the relationship among three n -cluster tilting subcategories of triangulated categories in a recollement. Let (D′,D,D′′) be a recollement of triangulated categories. We construct an n -cluster tilting subcategory of D by gluing together n -cluster tilting subcategories of D′ and D′′ under certain conditions. On the other hand, we prove that an n -cluster tilting subcategory of D can induce n -cluster tilting subcategories of D′ and D′′ . Using these two results, we give a one-to-one correspondence between some n -cluster tilting subcategories of D and pairs of n -cluster tilting subcategories of D′ and D′′ . Furthermore, we obtain a recollement of abelian categories from a recollement of triangulated categories.

Abstract:This paper aims to justify the use of statistical mechanics tools in situations where the system is out of equilibrium and jammed. Specifically, we derive a Boltzmann equation for a jammed granular system and show that the Boltzmann's analysis can be used to produce a ``Second Law'', $\dot{S}\ge 0$ for jammed systems. We highlight the fundamental questions in this area of physics and point to the key quantities in characterising a packing of particles, accessible through a novel experimentation method which we also present here.

Abstract:Let C be an (n+2)-angulated category with an n-suspension functor Σn and X be a cluster-tilting subcategory of C. Then we show that the quotient category C/X is an n-abelian category, and C/X is equivalent to an n-cluster tilting subcategory of an abelian category mod(Σ−nX). In addition, if C has a Serre functor, we also prove that mod(Σ−nX) is Gorenstein of Gorenstein dimension at most n. As an application, we generalize recent results of Jacobsen-Jørgensen and Koenig-Zhu.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a common framework for constructing triangulated quotient categories from extriangulated categories.To be precise, assume that X and A, where X ⊆ A, are two subcategories of an extriangulated category C satisfying certain conditions.Then A/[X ] is a triangulated category.This result unifies a result by Iyama and Wemyss (2013) for triangulated categories and a result by Zhou and Zhu (2018) for extriangulated categories.

Abstract:In this article, we prove that if $(\mathcal A ,\mathcal B,\mathcal C)$ is a recollement of extriangulated categories, then $n$-cotorsion pairs in $\mathcal A$ and $\mathcal C$ can induce $n$-cotorsion pairs in $\mathcal B$. Conversely, this holds true under natural assumptions. Besides, we give mild conditions on a pseudo cluster tilting subcategory on the middle category of a recollement of extriangulated categories, for the corresponding additive quotients to form a recollement of semi-abelian categories.

Abstract:We put forward several inherently quantum characteristics of the dwell time, and propose an operational method to detect them. The quantum dwell time is pointed out to be a conserved quantity, totally bypassing Pauli's theorem. Furthermore, the quantum dwell time in a region for one dimensional motion is doubly degenerate. In presence of a potential barrier, the dwell time becomes bounded, unlike the classical quantity. By using off-resonance coupling to a laser we propose an operational method to measure the absorption by a complex potential, and thereby the average time spent by an incoming atom in the laser region.

We show that there is a bijection between thick subcategories in $\mathcal{C}$ and thick subcategories in $\mathcal{B}$ containing $i_{\ast}\mathcal{A}$. Futhermore, the thick subcategories $\mathcal{V}$ in $\mathcal{B}$ containing $i_{\ast}\mathcal{A}$ can induce a new recollement relative to $\mathcal{A}$ and $j^{\ast}\mathcal{V}$. We also prove that silting subcategories in $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{C}$ can be glued to get silting subcategories in $\mathcal{B}$ and the converse holds under certain conditions.

Abstract:Given a right exact functor from an abelian category into another abelian category, there is an associated abelian category called the comma category of the functor. In this paper, we characterize when left Frobenius pairs (resp. strong left Frobenius pairs) in abelian categories can induce left Frobenius pairs (resp. strong left Frobenius pairs) in their comma categories. This leads to the construction of recollements of right triangulated categories (resp. triangulated categories) from the stable categories of left Frobenius pairs (resp. strong left Frobenius pairs). Applications are given to complete hereditary cotorsion pairs and Gorenstein projective objects.

Abstract:In this article, we prove that if (A, B, C) is a recollement of abelian categories, then wakamatsu tilting (resp. weak support tau-tilting) subcategories in A and C can induce wakamatsu tilting (resp. weak support tau-tilting) subcategories in B, and the converses hold under natural assumptions. As an application, we mainly consider the relationship of tau-cotorsion torsion triples in (A, B, C).

Abstract:A recollement of triangulated categories makes it possible to view one such category as being glued together from two others. The prototypical example is that D(X), a suitable derived category of sheaves on the topological space X, has a recollement in terms of D(Z) and D(U) when Z is a closed subset of X and U is the open complement. This note gives a different, "wrong way" recollement in the scheme case.

Abstract:Let (A,B,C) be a recollement of extriangulated categories. In this paper, we provide bounds on the coresolution dimensions of the subcategories involved in A, B , and C . We show that a hereditary cotorsion pair in B can induce hereditary cotorsion pairs in A and C under certain conditions. Besides, we construct recollements of abelian categories from a recollement of extriangulated categories with respect to the hearts of cotorsion pairs.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of big tilting complexes over associative rings, which is a simultaneous generalization of good tilting modules and tilting complexes over rings. Given a two-term big tilting complex over an arbitrary associative ring, we show that the derived module category of its (derived) endomorphism ring is a recollement of the one of the given ring and the one of a universal localization of the endomorphism ring. This recollement generalizes the one established for a good tilting module of projective dimension at most one.

Abstract:Let C be an extriangulated category. We prove that two quotient categories of extriangu?lated categories induced by selforthogonal subcategories are equivalent to module categories by restriction of two functors E and Hom, respectively. Moreover, if the selforthogonal sub?category is contravariantly finite, then one of the two quotient categories is abelian. This result can be regarded as a generalization of Demonet-Liu and Zhou-Zhu.

Abstract:In this paper, we first provide an explicit procedure to glue together hereditary exact model structures for the recollement of exact categories. To that end, we use the notion of cotorsion pairs and we investigate the gluing of complete hereditary cotorsion pairs along the recollement of exact categories. Moreover, we study liftings of recollements of hereditary exact model structures to recollements of their associated homotopy categories. This leads to a new method to produce recollements of triangulated categories. Applications are given to contraderived categories, projective stable derived categories and stable categories of Gorenstein injective modules over an upper triangular matrix ring.
