Abstract:The use of amylase enzyme has been extensive in different industrial sectors for quite a long time because of its various applications. In this study, soil from cassava processing site was screened for a bacteria with an amylase producing ability using starch iodine method and dinitrosalicyclic method. The biochemical and molecular characterization revealed the organism to be Bacillus circulan (CS2). Optimization of the enzyme production parameters was first carried out using the one factor at a time (OFAT) approach. The result obtained from OFAT study indicates that the following medium composition and culture conditions; medium pH 8, incubation temperature 45°C, incubation time 48 h, inoculum size 5%(w/v) of starch, lactose 1% (w/v), malt extract 1% (w/v), was suitable for the organism. Further optimization was done using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) based on Central Composite Design (CCD). RSM model was found to have a predicted R2and Adjusted R2value of -0.0666 and 0.3980 respectively and can significantly (p < 0.0500) predicted the response variables. Within the model interaction, effect between the model variables medium pH (A) and Lactose (D) were found to be significant. Optimal conditions for Amylase production by Bacillus circulans are Temperature of 35°C pH of 10 Lactose 1(%) and Malt Extract 2(%) which gave an enzyme activity of 15.776U/mL and biomass of 1.648. B.circulans was partially purified using ammonium sulphate and was also seen to be stable at temperature of 800C and a pH of 6.

Abstract:Fermentation conditions for producing alkaline cellulase by Bacillus sp.AC-2 were studied in shaking flasks strain.Results showed that the suitable inoculum age was 24 h.Optimal culture temperature and initial pH value were 37 ℃ and 10.5,respectively.The maximal alkaline cellulase activity reached 76.04 U/mL under the optimal conditions with 1% starch and 2% bean cake as carbon and nitrogen source,respectively.The enzyme preparations were stable between pH value 6.0 to 10.0 and below 70 ℃.The reaction catalyzed by alkaline cellulase at pH value 9.5 showed an optimum temperature of 60 ℃.This enzyme would have a good potential application in textile biofinishing and pulp-deinking.
Production, purification and characterization of thermostable alpha amylase from Bacillus subtilis Y25 isolated from decaying yam (Dioscorea rotundata) tuber

Abstract:Amylases have wide biotechnological potentials for applications in various industries. An α-amylase-producing bacterium was isolated from deteriorating yam tubers. Molecular characterization using the 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to confirm the identity of the bacterium as Bacillus subtilis Y25. The effect of some cultural and nutritional factors such as pH, temperature, carbon and nitrogen sources on α-amylase production from the bacterium was determined. Maximum α-amylase production was observed using starch and peptone as carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively, with an initial medium pH of 8.0 and incubation at 45 °C for 36 h. The enzyme was purified by ion exchange chromatography on CM Sepharose CL-6B. The kinetic parameters Km and Vmax of the enzyme, as well as the effect of pH, temperature, metal ions and ethylenediaminetetra acetic acid (EDTA) on the activity of the purified enzyme were studied. The specific activity of the partially purified enzyme was determined to be 15.21 Units/mg protein with a purification fold of 3.80. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be 58.0 kDa. The Vmax and Km values obtained with soluble starch for Bacillus subtilis Y25 α-amylase were 314.10 ± 23.30 Units/mg protein and 53.98 ± 12.03 mg/ml, respectively. The enzyme exhibited optimum activity at a temperature of 60 °C and pH 8.0. The metal ion Ca2+ had no effect on the enzyme at 20 mM concentration, whereas Na+ and Mg2+, as well as EDTA inhibited the enzyme at the same concentration. The characteristics of the α-amylase from Bacillus subtilis Y25 revealed it to be a thermostable and an alkaline metalloenzyme with potential for applications in the detergent and saccharification industries.

Abstract:Abstract Amylases are one of the most important enzymes in present-day biotechnology. The present study was concerned with the production and partial characterization of extracellular amylase from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens P-001. The effect of various fermentation conditions on amylase production through shake-flask culture was investigated. Enzyme production was induced by a variety of starchy substrate but corn flour was found to be a suitable natural source for maximum production. Tryptone and ammonium nitrate (0.2%) as nitrogen sources gave higher yield compared to other nitrogen sources. Maximum enzyme production was obtained after 48 hrs of incubation in a fermentation medium with initial pH 9.0 at 42°C under continuous agitation at 150 rpm. The size of inoculum was also optimized which was found to be 1% (v/v). Enzyme production was 2.43 times higher after optimizing the production conditions as compared to the basal media. Studies on crude amylase revealed that optimum pH, temperature and reaction time of enzyme activity was 6.5, 60°C and 40 minutes respectively. About 73% of the activity retained after heating the crude enzyme solution at 50°C for 30 min. The enzyme was activated by Ca 2+ (relative activity 146.25%). It was strongly inhibited by Mn 2+ , Zn 2+ and Cu 2+ , but less affected by Mg 2+ and Fe 2+ .
Production and Medium Optimization of Amylase by Bacillus Spp Using Submerged Fermentation Method

Abstract:Microbial amylases have several industrial applications. A large number of them are available commercially and have almost completely replaced chemical hydrolysis of starch in starch processing industry. The production of extracellular amylase by three selected Bacillus species such as Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus megaterium was screened. From the preliminary trials, B.megaterium was found to be the highest amylase producer and was taken for optimization studies using submerged fermentation. The production of enzymes was maximum at 24 hours after incubation, in pH 7 and at 37°C. Among the four carbon sources tested, high production was recorded with starch followed by glucose. The least production of enzyme was noted when sucrose was used as a carbon source. The effect of four nitrogen sources viz; peptone, beef extract, meat extract and yeast extract was assessed and peptone was found to be the ideal nitrogen source for amylase production. Enzyme productions were standardized using various parameters such as pH, incubation time and temperature.

Abstract:Current study was designed to study to screen the most efficient amylase producing strains in submerged fermentation, and optimization of the cultural conditions for the optimum production of alpha amylase. The soil sample was collected from the Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka, and screened for amylase producing bacterial strains on nutrient agar plates. Amylase positive bacterial strains were identified and recorded based on the clear zone formation around the bacterial growth. Amylase producing bacteria was grown on the starch production media in submerged fermentation method. Optimization of cultural conditions like incubation period, pH, temperature, salt concentration, carbon & nitrogen sources was carried out. DNS method of enzyme assay was followed and activity was expressed in IU. Study findings delineated that newly isolated bacterial strain Bacillus sp. yields maximum enzyme production at 40°C & pH 8.0 when incubated for 48 h under submerged fermentation. Furthermore, optimum amylase enzyme production from Bacillus sp. was obtained when starch was used as carbon source and yeast extract as nitrogen source under submerged fermentation. At NaCl concentration of 3.0% highest amylase production was observed under submerged fermentation using newly isolated Bacillus sp. Therefore, newly isolated Bacillus sp. having potentials of industrial biotechnological applications and hence, it could be recommended for large scale production to exploit industrial purposes.

Abstract:Various inevitable parameters have been studied, searching for prospect enhancement of amylase enzyme production using limited energy, time and resources. These parameters include microbes, culture conditions and carbon sources. The present study aimed at screening and optimization of soil bacteria for their ability to degrade starch and produce amylase enzyme. The starch agar plate method was used to screen bacteria and submerged fermentation was for enzyme production. The mean bacterial counts of samples from Kasarawa (KS), Runjin sambo (RS) and Kalambaina (KL) area were 4.5×106, 6.6×106 and 4.1×106 CFU/g respectively. The mean hydrolysis zone of RS 23.3mm was maximal followed by KL 16.8mm and KS 16.3mm in diameter. Morphological and biochemical characteristics of the screened isolate were identified as KS-1 (Bacillus subtilis), RS-1 (Bacillus licheniformis) and KL-2 (Bacillus cereus). Production of amylase enzyme depends on growth parameters and energy sources which enzyme activity was optimal at 48hrs and 72hrs for Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus subtilis respectively. The increased in temperature showed increased in enzyme activity by three (3) of the bacterial species between 25 and 55°C. The enzyme activity ranged from B. subtilis 1.78 to 4.55, B. licheniformis 2.97 to 6.52 and B. cereus 1.31 to 3.03Uml-1. Meanwhile, all the isolates differed significantly. The enzyme activity of B. licheniformis was optimal at pH 7 (5.02Uml-1) and pH 8 (4.44Uml-1). The B. subtilis and B. cereus enzyme activity ranged from 2.04 to 4.85Uml-1 and 1.51 to 3.85Uml-1 respectively followed the same decreased trend as B. licheniformis. The best-observed carbon source was starch 5.67Uml-1 used by B. licheniformis, 3.89Uml-1 B. cereus and 3.55Uml-1 B. subtilis. In contrast, the nitrogen source was yeast extract utilized best by B. licheniformis 4.55Uml-1, B. subtilis 3.61Uml-1 and B. cereus 3.13Uml-1. The study presented Bacillus sp. 48hrs, 50°C, neutral pH, starch and yeast extract as the best parameters observed for amylase enzyme production.
Production and Partial Characterization of α-Amylase Enzyme from Marine Actinomycetes

Abstract:Amylase producing actinobacteria were isolated and characterized from terrestrial environment. There are a limited number of reports investigating the marine environment; hence, in the present study, four marine enzymes were tested for their amylase production ability. On starch agar plates, the Streptomyces rochei strain showed a higher hydrolytic zone (24 mm) than the other isolates. Growth under optimized culture conditions using Plackett-Burman's experimental design led to a 1.7, 9.8, 7.7, and 3.12-fold increase for the isolates S. griseorubens, S. rochei, S. parvus, and Streptomyces sp., respectively, in the specific activity measurement. When applying the Box-Behnken design on S. rochei using the most significant parameters (starch, K2HPO4, pH, and temperature), there was a 12.22-fold increase in the specific activity measurement 7.37 U/mg. The α-amylase was partially purified, and its molecular weight was determined using sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. α-Amylase was particularly active at pH 6 and 65°C. The purified enzyme was most active at 65°C and pH 6, thermal stability of 70°C for 40 min, and salt concentration of 1 M with Km and Vmax of 6.58 mg/ml and 21.93 μmol/ml/min, respectively. The α-amylase was improved by adding Cu+2, Zn+2, and Fe+2 (152.21%, 207.24%, and 111.89%). Increased production of α-amylase enzyme by S. rochei KR108310 leads to production of significant industrial products.
A promising microbial α-amylase production, and purification from Bacillus cereus and its assessment as antibiofilm agent against Pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogen

Abstract:Background and aim: The purpose of the current study is to isolate a heavily amylase-producing bacteria of the genus Bacillus from soil samples, optimize the production of the enzyme, purify it, and evaluate its activity against biofilm-producing bacteria. A total of 12 soil samples were collected and screened for promising Bacillus species with good amylolytic activity. Isolation was done by serial dilution and plating technique and amylolytic activity was determined by starch agar plate method. Among the 12 Bacillus isolates recovered from soil samples, 7 showed positive α-amylase production. The best isolate that recorded the greatest amylolytic activity was selected for further studies. This isolate was identified by 16S rRNA sequencing as Bacillus cereus and registered under gene bank accession number OP811897. Furthermore, the α-amylase enzyme was produced by a submerged fermentation technique using best production media and partially purified by ammonium sulfate and chilled ethanol and molecular weight had been determined by SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis. The production of α-amylase was optimized experimentally by one-factor at a time protocol and statistically by Plackett-Burman design as well as RSM CCD design. Data obtained from OFAT and CCD revealed that α-amylase activities were 1.5- and twofold respectively higher as compared to un-optimized conditions. The most significant factors had been identified and optimized by CCD design. Results: Among the eleven independent variables tested by PBD, glucose, peptone, (NH4)2SO4, and Mg SO4 were the most significant parameters for α-amylase production with an actual yield of 250U/ml. The best physical parameters affecting the enzyme production were incubation time at 35 °C, and pH 5.5 for 48 h. The partially purified enzyme with 60% ammonium sulphate saturation with 1.38- fold purification showed good stability characteristics at a storage temperature of 4 °C and pH up to 8.5 for 21 days. Antibiofilm activity of purified α-amylase was determined against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 35659) by spectrophotometric analysis and CLSM microscopic analysis. Results demonstrated biofilm inhibition by 84% of the formed Pseudomonas biofilm using a microtiter plate assay and thickness inhibition activity by 83% with live/Dead cells percentage of 17%/83% using CLSM protocol. Conclusions: A highly stable purified α-amylase from B. cereus showed promising antibiofilm activity against one of the clinically important biofilm-forming MDR organisms that could be used as a cost-effective tool in pharmaceutical industries.

Abstract:Cassava peels are waste generated from cassava processing and are mostly disposed of in Nigeria by dumping indiscriminately in landfills/waste dumps where they remain as huge mounds and constitute nuisance to the environment. This study was carried out using cassava peels as substrate for the production of α – amylase from three fungi (Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger and Penicillium expansum) selected from twelve microbial isolates obtained from biodegrading cassava peels. The fungi were isolated using cassava peel agar medium and the α – amylase was produced by the solid state fermentation process. The α – amylase was assayed by measuring the decrease in staining power of starch with iodine reagent at 620nm and purified by using Sephadex G-100 and Sephadex C-50. The α – amylase was characterized by examining the effect of temperature, stability at 70oC, pH, substrate concentration, metal ions and EDTA. The results show that the purification fold and specific activity were 95.727, 1.053 Units/mg protein; 81.830, 0.982 Units/mg protein and 85.784, 0.686 Units/mg protein for A. flavus, A. niger and P. expansum respectively. The optimum temperature and pH were 45oC and 4.5 respectively. It was observed that the α – amylase still retained some activity after heating at 70oC for 35 min. The α – amylase activity increased with increase in substrate concentration and metal ion concentration (Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+) but decreased with increase in heavy metal ion concentration (Hg2+ and Pb2+) and EDTA. Abstract:An extracellularα-amylase(AmyL)from a Bacillus sp WS-3L was purified 345 fold and had a recovery of 15.5%.The amylase was capable of hydrolyzing starch to yield a series of maltooligosaccharides. It was optimally active at 45℃and pH values around 6.5 and showed stability at the temperature below 40℃and pH 7.0-8.0.The amylase was inhibited by Cu~(2+)、NH_4~+、Ag~+、Hg~+ and EDTA、SDS.Michaelist constants(K_m)of the AmyL for were 2.81 mg/mL、8.37 mg/mL、1.80 mg/mL, and maximum velocity(V_(max))of the enzyme for soluble starch,amylose,amylopectin were 11.67μtmol/(min.mL)、10.00μmol/(min·mL)、13.33μmol/(min.mL)respectively.It was suggested that amylopectin is the better hydrolysis substrate for the enzyme.It was observed that the adsorption and digestion of the enzyme on different raw starches was remarkably different.Raw corn starch exhibited high adsorption of the enzyme.It was suggested that the highly stable enzyme was able to be obtained and applied very fast by corn starch chromatography.
Isolation, production and characterization of amylase enzyme using the isolate Aspergillus niger FAB-211

Abstract:Amylase enzymes are industrially important enzymes used in food, sugar, textile, pharmaceutical, paper and detergent industries. The main objective of this study was to isolate, produce and optimize α-amylase enzyme using a fungal strain isolated from fruit peel soil wastes. Media optimization was done by one-factor at a time method. Average values of duplicate experiments were taken. Microsoft office Excel worksheet 2010 was used for data analysis. Soil samples were collected from three places and a total of 89 fungal isolates were isolated. All isolates were screened for their potential to produce amylase based on the clear zone formation on starch agar media, of which isolate FAB-211 showed the maximum potential to produce amylase and considered for further study. The isolate was further characterized based on colony morphology and microscopic mount and the isolate FAB-211 was Aspergillus niger. Important process parameters affecting amylase activity with the fungal isolate were optimized. The maximum activity (0.483 U/ml) was observed at pH of 6.0 and temperature at 45°C was found to be the best for amylase activity (1.241 U/ml). The highest and least alpha-amylase production was found when 6 and 2 discs spore of A. niger FAB-211 were used, respectively. Maximum yield of alpha amylase (0.281 U/ml) was observed on the 3rd day of incubation period followed by 4, 6 and 5th days. Maltose and yeast extract were found to be the best carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. Therefore, further optimization of parameters and characterization of A. niger FAB-211 amylase is important for their application in industries. Bacillus velezensis Identification and Recombinant Expression, Purification, and Characterization of Its Alpha-Amylase

Abstract:Amylases account for about 30% of the global market of industrial enzymes, and the current amylases cannot fully meet industrial needs. This study aimed to identify a high α-amylase producing bacterium WangLB, to clone its α-amylase coding gene, and to characterize the α-amylase. Results showed that WangLB belonged to Bacillus velezensis whose α-amylase gene was 1980 bp coding 659 amino acids designated as BvAmylase. BvAmylase was a hydrophilic stable protein with a signal peptide and a theoretical pI of 5.49. The relative molecular weight of BvAmylase was 72.35 kDa, and was verified by SDS-PAGE. Its modeled structure displayed that it was a monomer composed of three domains. Its optimum temperature and pH were 70 °C and pH 6.0, respectively. It also showed high activity in a wide range of temperatures (40–75 °C) and a relatively narrow pH (5.0–7.0). It was a Ca2+-independent enzyme, whose α-amylase activity was increased by Co2+, Tween 20, and Triton X-100, and severely decreased by SDS. The Km and the Vmax of BvAmylase were 3.43 ± 0.53 and 434.19 ± 28.57 U/mg. In conclusion, the α-amylase producing bacterium WangLB was identified, and one of its α-amylases was characterized, which will be a candidate enzyme for industrial applications.
Optimization of newly isolated Bacillus cereus α-amylase production using orange peels and crab shells and application in wastewater treatment

Abstract:A newly isolated amylolytic strain was identified as Bacillus cereus spH1 based on 16S and 16-23S gene sequencing (Accession numbers OP811441.1 and OP819558, respectively), optimization strategies, using one variable at time (OVAT) and Plackett–Burman design, were employed to improve the alpha-amylase (α-amylase) production. Condition inferred revealed that the optimal physical parameters for maximum enzyme production were 30 °C, pH 7.5, and 12 h of incubation, using tryptone, malt extract, orange ( Citrus sinensis) peels, crab ( Portunus segnis) shells, calcium, and sodium chloride (NaCl) as culture medium. The full factorial design (FFD) model was observed to possess a predicted R 2 and adjusted R 2 values of 0.9788 and 0.9862, respectively, and it can effectively predict the response variables ( p = 0). Following such efforts, α-amylase activity was increased 141.6-folds, ranging from 0.06 to 8.5 U/mL. The ideal temperature and pH for the crude enzyme activity were 65 °C and 7.5, respectively. The enzyme exhibited significant stability, with residual activity over 90% at 55 °C. The maltose was the only product generated during the starch hydrolysis. Moreover, the Bacillus cereus spH1 strain and its α-amylase were used in the treatment of effluents from the pasta industry. Germination index percentages of 143% and 139% were achieved when using the treated effluent with α-amylase and the strain, respectively. This work proposes the valorization of agro-industrial residues to improve enzyme production and to develop a green and sustainable approach that holds great promise for environmental and economic challenges.

This research aimed to study the production of α-amylase by B. subtilis IMD34 in submerged fermentation conditions using Plackett-Burman (PB) design, along with the optimization of certain environmental factors for optimal growth of amylolytic bacteria. Plackett-Burman design was used to evaluate the effect of ten independent variables on α-amylase production. Maximum enzyme activity was recorded in a medium containing (g/l); starch (6.0), peptone (12.0), K2HPO4 (1.0), Na2HPO4 (2.0), NaCl (0.6), Na2SO4 (0.1), MgSO4.7H20 (1.0), FeCl3.6H2O (0.02), CaCl2.2H2O (0.02) and with an agitation speed (200 rpm). From the pareto chart it was observed that the most important independent variables for amylase production were starch, peptone, NaCl, Mg2SO4, CaCl2.2H2O and agitation. Optimization of environmental parameters to assess their effect on the growth of bacteria showed that optimal pH, incubation time and temperature were recorded at 6, 48h and 37 ̊C. Evaluating independent variables statistically using PB design revealed that some of the medium’s components had a positive impact on α-amylase production by B. subtilis IMD34.

Abstract:Amylases (E.C.3.2.1.1) are enzymes which catalyze the breakdown of -1,4 glycosidic linkages of starch to simple sugars and different monomeric products. Microbial amylases are essential enzymes compared with animals and plants amylases in industrial applications. Thus, in southern Nigeria, garri processing waste-water from mills poses a serious environmental challenge and this situation could be exploited by utilizing microorganisms colonizing the area to manufacture microbial products. This present study was aimed at evaluating the potential of fungi isolated from garri processing environment for amylase secretion and conduct a time course study of the enzyme production. Fungi were isolated from the soil and waste water from garri processing sites using Standard Microbiological Procedures. The five fungi isolated from garri processing environmental samples were screened using Lugols iodine. Three fungal isolates were then selected on the hydrolysis of starch in qualitative zonation agar plates but one isolate named B among them was better in starch hydrolysis related to highest clear zone plates. After qualitative screening, the three hyper production amylase extracted fungi were identified according to the morphological characteristics. The hyper producing amylase isolate B was then identified as Aspergillus flavus (RCBBR_AEAFUN2) and recorded as a novel strain in southern Nigeria according to molecular characteristics, which was selected for further studies. The current results of time course study showed that the maximum growth (2.453 g) occurred after 24 h of incubation at pH 4.5 while maximum enzyme production (2.3 U/ml/min) was obtained after 96 h of incubation at pH 3.5. Therefore, the hyper producing amylase from garri processing sites, Aspergillus flavus (RCBBR_AEAFUN2) novel strain has great prospects for future biotechnological and industrial applications and help in ameliorating the environmental pollution posed by the waste-water.
Statistical Optimization of α-Amylase Production from Novel Local Isolated Bacillus spp. NRC1 and Its Textile Applications

Abstract:Abstract By employing Plackett–Burman design (PBD) to investigate the qualitative interactions between eleven parameters [potato shell weight, incubation time, glucose, lactose, baker's yeast, peptone, (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 , CuSO 4 , FeSO 4 , CaCl 2 , KCl], and central composite design (CCD), the production of α-amylase by a local bacterial isolate Bacillus spp. NRC1 using agro-industrial wastes was improved. Using a variety of waste materials, including corn cobs (CC), onion peels (OP), rice straw (RS), potato shells (PS), Molokhia stem (MS), okra suppression (OS), lemon peels (LP), and pea peels (PP), Bacillus spp. NRC1 was tested in the production of amylase. Out of the eight agro-industrial wastes tried, the highest amylase yield (6.99 U/ml) was reached using potato peels. The statistical optimization of enzyme production was carried out using PBD followed by CCD design, causing 2.06-fold and 1.51-fold increase, respectively. The overall increase was 3.11-fold. In PBD design, potato peels, peptone and (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 were positive factors for amylase production. The crude enzyme was tested for its ability to desize cotton fabric and subsequently studying its effect on fabric dyeability. The produced amylase proved its potentials in textile industry. Abstract:Endophytic actinobacteria are known to produce various enzymes with potential industrial applications. Alpha-amylase is an important class of industrial enzyme with a multi-dimensional utility. The present experiment was designed to characterize a moderately thermostable α-amylase producing endophytic Streptomyces mobaraensis DB13 isolated from Costus speciosus (J. Koenig) Sm. The enzyme was purified using 60% ammonium sulphate precipitation, dialysis, and Sephadex G-100 column chromatography. Based on 12% SDS-PAGE, the molecular weight of the purified α-amylase was estimated to be 55 kDa. The maximum α-amylase activity was achieved at pH 7.0, 50°C and it retained 80% of its activity at both pH 7.0 and 8.0 after incubation for 2 h. The α-mylase activity is strongly enhanced by Ca2+, Mg2+, and inhibited by Ba2+. The activity remains stable in the presence of Tween-80, SDS, PMSF, and Triton X-100; however, β-mercaptoethanol, EDTA, and H2O2 reduced the activity. The kinetic parameters Km and Vmax values for this α-amylase were calculated as 2.53 mM and 29.42 U/mL respectively. The α-amylase had the ability to digest various raw starches at a concentration of 10 mg/mL at pH 7.0, 50°C, where maize and rice are the preferred substrates. The digestion starts after 4 h of incubation, which reaches maximum after 48 h of incubation. These results suggest that S. mobaraensis DB13 is a potential source of moderately thermostable α-amylase enzyme, that effciently hydrolyzes raw starch. It suggesting that this α-amylase is a promising candidate to be use for industrial purposes.
