Abstract:• Adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) exhibit a range of heart failure pathophysiologies, often complicating straightforward application of existing heart failure definitions and guideline-directed management. • A subset of patients experienced heart failure for reasons similar to acquired forms of heart failure in adults, such as ventricular dysfunction and valve disease. • Other causes of heart failure, however, are also commonly present such as venous insufficiency and lymphatic dysfunction. • Adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) exhibit a range of heart failure pathophysiologies, often complicating straightforward application of existing heart failure definitions and guideline-directed management.
