Abstract:Introduction: The removable partial denture (RPD) components, especially the retentive arm, play a major role in the loading characteristic on supporting structures. Objective: To evaluate and compare the effect of different clasp designs on the stress distribution pattern, maximum von Mises stress, and average hydrostatic pressure on abutment teeth, as well as edentulous ridges, mini dental implants (MDIs), and peri-implant bone between the conventional removable partial denture (CRPD) and mini dental implant-assisted distal extension removable partial denture (IARPD) using a three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA). Materials and methods: 3D FEA models of mandibular arches, with and without bilateral MDI at the second molar areas, and Kennedy class I RPD frameworks, with RPA, RPI, Akers, and no clasp component, were generated. A total of 200 N vertical load was bilaterally applied on both sides of distal extension areas, and the stress was analyzed by 3D FEA. Results: The stress concentration of IARPD with RPI clasp design was located more lingually on abutment teeth, MDI, and peri-implant bone, while the other designs were observed distally on the supporting structures. The maximum von Mises stress on the abutment root surface was decreased when the RPDs were assisted with MDIs. The CRPD and IARPD with the Akers clasp design showed the highest von Mises stress followed by the designs with RPA and RPI clasp, respectively. The average hydrostatic pressure in each group was in approximation. Conclusion: The placement of MDIs on distal extension ridges helps to reduce the stress concentration on denture supporting structures. The maximum von Mises stress is affected by the different designs of clasp components. The CRPD and the IARPD with RPI clasp provide the least stress on supporting structures.
Stress Analysis for Different Designs of Implant-borne and Tooth-implant Fixed Partial Dentures in Mandibular Posterior Region

Abstract:Aim: The utilization of fixed partial dentures (FPD) ceramic frameworks for replacing the missing posterior teeth is observed to have reported high failure rates. For this reason, 3-units FPD are designed and used extensively in the clinical practices, particularly for posterior mandibular region. The current study however, aims to carry out an evaluation of different stress patterns that are induced in a 3-units FPD within posterior part of mandible using finite element analysis (FEA). Materials and methods: Different modalities of the implant-supported FPDs such as type of connector, length and diameter of implants were taken into account. A three-dimensional (3D) model simulation of a mandibular Kennedy class II removal partial denture (RPD) was designed from a computerized tomography (CT) input with digital imaging communication on medicine (DICOM) format. In addition, occlusal load of 100 N was also used for central fossae of first premolar, first molar and second molar of the 3-units' reconstruction for each model. The magnitude of von Mises stress including minimum stress, maximum stress and average stress were also evaluated for each loading condition. Results: The findings of the current study showed evidence that tooth-implant design with a nonrigid connector has significantly increased the average stress. Furthermore, it was observed that rigid connector has considerably minimized the stress within the tooth-implant-supported FPD. Conclusion: The study concluded that stress designs significantly influence the stress distribution around the bone. Clinical significance: This study gives some guidance and criteria for the selection of the type of fixed implant prosthesis in the posterior mandibular region.
In Vitro Assessment of the Effect of Implant Position on Biomechanical Behaviors of Implant-Supported Removable Partial Dentures in Kennedy Class II Condition

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of implant position and loading position on biomechanical behaviors using implant-supported removable partial denture (ISRPD) models in a simulated Kennedy class II partially edentulous mandible. Three types of Kennedy class II mandibular acrylic resin models (a conventional RPD without support by an implant—CRPD; models with an implant placed at first molar (#46)—MP-ISRPD— and second molar (#47)—DP-ISRPD) were used to measure vertical displacement of the RPD, mesio-distal displacement of the abutment tooth, and bending moment of the abutment tooth and implant under one-point loading. The variables at three respective loading points (#45, #46 and #47) were compared statistically. Vertical displacement was suppressed in ISRPDs compared to the CRPD, and significant effects were identified under loading at the implant position. The largest meiso-distal displacement was observed in MP-ISRPD under #47 loading. Bending moments of the abutment tooth and implant were significantly higher in MP-ISRPD than in DP-ISPRD. In MP-ISRPD, a higher bending moment of the abutment tooth under #45 and #47 loading was detected, although the bending moment in DP-ISRPD was almost zero. The results of this study suggested that MP-ISRPD shows the specific biomechanical behaviors, although DP-ISRPD might provide biomechanical benefits under all one-point loading conditions.

Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of Stress Distribution in Dental Implant Prosthesis and Surrounding Bone Using PEEK Abutments

Abstract:(1) Background: Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been used as an alternative to titanium in implant prosthetic systems, but its impact on stress distribution in implant systems needs to be investigated. This study aimed to compare the effect of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and titanium abutments on implant prosthetic systems and the supporting bone using three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). (2) Methods: Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted using CATIA V5 and Abaqus V6.12 software to model mandibular first-molar implant systems with titanium and PEEK abutments. Under external loading conditions, finite element analysis was conducted for the stresses in the implant components and surrounding bones of each group. (3) Results: The implant fixture of the PEEK model exhibited the highest von Mises stress (VMS). The lowest VMS was observed in the abutment screw of the titanium model. Both implant systems demonstrated similar stress distributions and magnitudes in cortical and cancellous bones. (4) Conclusion: PEEK abutments show a similar stress distribution in the surrounding bone compared to titanium. However, PEEK absorbs the stresses within the implant system and exhibits the highest VMS values due to its low mechanical and physical properties. Therefore, PEEK abutments need improved mechanical properties for better clinical application.

Abstract:The literature presents insufficient data evaluating the displacement and micromotion effects resulting from the combined use of tooth-implant connections in fixed partial dentures. Analyzing the biomechanical behavior of tooth-implant fixed partial denture (FPD) prothesis is vital for achieving an optimum design and successful clinical implementation. The objective of this study was to determine the relative significance of connector design on the displacement and micromotion of tooth-implant-supported fixed dental prostheses under occlusal vertical loading. A unilateral Kennedy class I mandibular model was created using a 3D reconstruction from CT scan data. Eight simulated designs of tooth-implant fixed partial dentures (FPDs) were split into two groups: Group A with rigid connectors and Group B with non-rigid connectors. The models were subjected to a uniform vertical load of 100 N. Displacement, strain, and stress were computed using finite element analysis. The materials were defined as isotropic, homogeneous, and exhibiting linear elastic properties. This study focused on assessing the maximum displacement in various components, including the bridge, mandible, dentin, cementum, periodontal ligament (PDL), and implant. Displacement values were predominantly higher in Group B (non-rigid) compared to Group A (rigid) in all measured components of the tooth-implant FPDs. Accordingly, a statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups at the FPD bridge (p value = 0.021 *), mandible (p value = 0.021 *), dentin (p value = 0.043 *), cementum (p value = 0.043 *), and PDL (p value = 0.043 *). Meanwhile, there was an insignificant increase in displacement values recorded in the distal implant (p value = 0.083). This study highlighted the importance of connector design in the overall stability and performance of the prosthesis. Notably, the 4.7 mm × 10 mm implant in Group B showed a displacement nearly 92 times higher than its rigid counterpart in Group A. Overall, the 5.7 mm × 10 mm combination of implant length and diameter showcased the best performance in both groups. The findings demonstrate that wider implants with a proportional length offer greater resistance to displacement forces. In addition, the use of rigid connection design provides superior biomechanical performance in tooth-implant fixed partial dentures and reduces the risk of micromotion with its associated complications such as ligament overstretching and implant overload, achieving predictable prognosis and enhancing the stability of the protheses.

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the stress distribution and displacement pattern in the restoration of Stern-ERA attachment mandible removable partial denture (RPD) with different designs through three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) analysis.Methods:3D-FE models were established based on human CT data and manufacturer's catalog.Vertical and 45° lingual oblique forces of 100 N were applied on the artificial teeth of the RPD.Three ERA attachment partial dentures with different bracing arms were designed,namely the basic design,rest bracing arm design and cross-arch bracing arm design.The von Mises stresses and displacements of abutment teeth and mucosa under denture base were analysed.The displacement of denture bases was examined.Results:Under the vertical and oblique loading,the maximum yon Mises stress was found at the distal shoulder on the distal abutment.The maximun displacement was observed at the buccal and distal occlusal surfaces of the distal abutment.The maximum displacement on the abutment was found to be the highest in rest bracing arm design group (14.91 μm and 63.09 μm),followed by the basic design group (9.38 μm and 50.56 μm) and the cross-arch bracing arm design group exhibited the smallest displacement (8.85 μm and 47.31 μm).Conclusion:The basic design Stern_ERA attachment for unilateral mandible distal extension defect appears to be more reasonable compared with rest arm and crossing-arch arm design from biomechanical point of view.

Abstract:Background/purpose: The design of the connectors and implant abutments could affect the stress distribution of the tooth-implant supported prosthesis (TISP) entire system after loading. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the stress distribution of the TISP in different connectors and different implant abutments after loading. Materials and methods: The TISP design used in this study was divided into six models. R1, R2 and R3 represented the tooth and the one-piece, two-piece and three-piece abutment implant system connected by a rigid connector, respectively, while NR1, NR2 and NR3 were the corresponding tooth-abutment implant systems connected by a non-rigid connector. A vertical occlusal load of 50 N was applied at a right angle on the 6 occlusal points of the occlusal surface. Results: As a result, regarding the maximum average stress distribution, R1 and NR1 appeared on the implant fixture, and the other four models were on the implant abutment. On the other hand, regardless of the abutment implant system, the maximum von Mises stress generated by the rigid connector was greater than the corresponding non-rigid connector in the cortical bone around implant. In addition, the three-piece abutment implant system had lower von Mises stress than the one-piece and two-piece implant systems in the cortical bone. Conclusion: It is concluded that by adding a flexible non-rigid connector and three-piece abutment device design to TISP, the occlusal load of the implant was dispersed, and the stress could be gradually introduced into the relatively strong implant abutment. Abstract:BackgroundComputer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials are widely used in resin-bonded fixed partial dentures (RBFPDs), but their suitability across different designs has not been fully assessed. This study compares the stress distribution and failure probability of mandibular incisors restored by RBFPDs with various CAD/CAM materials.Materials and methodsFinite-element models of single- and double-ended RBFPDs were created using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data. Five CAD/CAM materials (IPS e.max CAD, IPS e.max ZirCAD, Vita Enamic, Lava Ultimate, Vitablocs MarkII) were tested under vertical and oblique (45°) loading with a 100 N force. Stress distribution and failure risk were evaluated for each material and design.ResultsOblique loading produced the highest stress and displacement for single-ended RBFPDs. Lava Ultimate had the largest displacement and principal stress, while IPS e.max ZirCAD showed the highest equivalent stress. IPS e.max CAD exhibited the lowest displacement and principal stress among double-ended RBFPDs under oblique loading.ConclusionThis study demonstrated that double-ended RBFPDs experience lower stress and strain compared to single-ended designs, particularly under oblique loading. Vita Enamic had the highest failure risk, while IPS e.max ZirCAD had the lowest. These insights into stress distribution and material performance offer valuable guidance for material selection and restoration design, aiming to improve the longevity and success of RBFPDs in mandibular incisor restorations.

Abstract:Aims: To evaluate and compare the distribution of stress patterns around a single implant-supported crown with various abutment designs using different abutment materials. Setting and design: This is an in vitro study to evaluate and compare stress distribution patterns. Methods: The three-dimensional (3D) finite element models included four stock and four customized abutments made of Titanium, Zirconia, Fibre-Reinforced Composite, and Poly Ether-Ether Ketone (PEEK) attached to an end-osseous root form implant. The models were subjected to a 300 N vertical load at the central fossa and a 150 N oblique load at the centre of the lingual inclines of the buccal cusps of the mandibular molar crown designed on the model. Statistical analysis used: The stress distribution within the implant and the surrounding supporting structures was evaluated using finite element analysis. Results: In all the models, stresses on the implants were observed to be concentrated in the neck of the implants in the first few threads. Irrespective of the abutment design, PEEK abutment transferred greater stresses to implants and Zirconia abutment transferred lesser stresses to implants. In the implants, the customized abutment showed lesser stress values than the stock abutment during oblique loading. Conclusions: Stresses on implants and cortical bone can be reduced by using Zirconia as an abutment material compared to Titanium, Fibre-Reinforced Composite, and Poly Ether-Ether Ketone material. Customized abutments improve the load transfer between the prosthesis and the implant and the surrounding bone, lessen the micro-movement of the abutments, and distribute the stress more evenly across the implant's component parts.
[Influence of attachment type on stress distribution of implant-supported removable partial dentures].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To compare influences of different retention attachments on stress among supporting structures. METHODS:By 3-dimensional laser scanner and reverse engineering computer aided design (CAD) software, a basic partially edentulous digital model with mandibular premolar and molar missing was established. Implant attachment and removable partial dentures (RPD) were added into the basic model to build three kinds of models: RPD only, RPD + implant + Locator attachment, and RPD + implant + Magfit attachment. Vertical and inclined loads were put on artificial teeth unilaterally. By means of 3-dimensional finite element analysis, the stress distribution and displacement of the main supportive structures were compared. RESULTS:A complete 3-dimensional finite element model was established, which contained tooth structure, and periodontal structures. The displacement of the denture was smaller in Locator (9.38 μm vertically, 45.48 μm obliquely) and Magfit models (9.54 μm vertically, 39.45 μm obliquely) compared with non-implant RPD model (95.27 μm vertically, 155.70 μm obliquely). Compared with the two different attachments, cortical bone stress value was higher in Locator model (Locator model 10.850 MPa vertically, 43.760 MPa obliquely; Magfit model 7.100 MPa vertically, 19.260 MPa obliquely).The stress value of abutment periodontal ligamentin Magfit model (0.420 MPa vertically) was lower than that in Locator model (0.520 MPa vertically). CONCLUSION:The existence of implant could reduce maximum von Mises value of each supportive structure when Kennedy I partially edentulous mandible was restored. Comparing the structure of Magfit and Locator attachment, the contact of Magfit attachment was rigid, while Locator was resilient. Locator attachment could improve stability of the denture dramatically. Locator had stronger effect on defending horizontal movement of the denture.

Abstract:Purpose: This current numerical investigation aim to evaluate the benefits of substituting Titanium with CRF- PEEK for better stress distribution in implant- bone interface. Methods: 3D models of a dental implant for the first mandibular molar were constructed using the computed tomography (CT) scan. Four distinct models using a combination of titanium, carbon reinforced polyetheretherketone (CRF- PEEK), and zirconia for implant /abutment materials were studied. A three- dimensional finite element simulation was used to evaluate the stress distribution at the implant – bone interface under a compressive axial load of magnitude 120 N. A spherical indenter was used to simulate occlusal load. Results: Mesh independent study was converged for a very large number of elements. Finite element analysis showed: 1) there was no significant difference in the distribution pattern of stress at the implant – bone interface in the different material models studied, 2) the stress values for all prosthetic implant parts were well below the yield strength, 3) a larger deformation of PEEK implant versus titanium. Conclusion: The substitution of titanium with PEEK for the implant does not provide any better stress distribution and may lead to problems from the deformation of the implant.
Biomechanical finite element analysis of short-implant-supported, 3-unit, fixed CAD/CAM prostheses in the posterior mandible

Abstract:Abstract Objective To assess the biomechanical effects of different prosthetic/implant configurations and load directions on 3-unit fixed prostheses supported by short dental implants in the posterior mandible using validated 3-D finite element (FE) models. Methods Models represented an atrophic mandible, missing the 2nd premolar, 1st and 2nd molars, and rehabilitated with either two short implants (implant length-IL = 8 mm and 4 mm) supporting a 3-unit dental bridge or three short implants (IL = 8 mm, 6 mm and 4 mm) supporting zirconia prosthesis in splinted or single crowns design. Load simulations were performed in ABAQUS (Dassault Systèmes, France) under axial and oblique (30°) force of 100 N to assess the global stiffness and forces within the implant prosthesis. Local stresses within implant/prosthesis system and strain energy density (SED) within surrounding bone were determined and compared between configurations. Results The global stiffness was around 1.5 times higher in splinted configurations vs. single crowns, whereby off-axis loading lead to a decrease of 39%. Splinted prostheses exhibited a better stress distribution than single crowns. Local stresses were larger and distributed over a larger area under oblique loads compared to axial load direction. The forces on each implant in the 2-implant-splinted configurations increased by 25% compared to splinted crowns on 3 implants. Loading of un-splinted configurations resulted in increased local SED magnitude. Conclusion Splinting of adjacent short implants in posterior mandible by the prosthetic restoration has a profound effect on the magnitude and distribution of the local stress peaks in peri-implant regions. Replacing each missing tooth with an implant is recommended, whenever bone supply and costs permit.

Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the biomechanical behavior, stress distributions and bone microstrain of fixed partial dentures (FPD) with ceramic abutments supported on monotype zirconia implants, titanium implants and two-piece zirconia implants, using finite element analysis. A three-dimensional model of the jaw was simulated containing 1.0 mm thick cortical bone and cancellous bone tissue. A FPD and implant models (4.1 x 10 mm) were modeled containing a cement-retained implant abutment. These models were replicated in three groups with similar geometries: Titanium Implant and Zirconia Abutment (Ti-Zr); Zirconia Implant and Zirconia Abutment (Zr-Zr) and Monotype Zirconia Implant (Zr-S). An axial load of 300 N was applied to the center of the first premolar. The microstrain (με) and the Von-Mises stress (MPa) were assumed as failures criteria. For the three groups, a higher stress concentration was observed in the region of FPD connectors. The Ti-Zr group showed a higher stress concentration in the prosthesis and implant when compared to the other groups. However, the smaller elastic modulus of the titanium implant, in relation to the zirconia, provided a lower stress in the abutment and in the prosthetic screw. The monotype implant system allowed a more homogeneous stress distribution and its strain were predominantly located in the cervical region of the peri-implant bone tissue. Monotype or two-piece zirconia implants can be used for rehabilitation with FPD. However, the absence of separation between implant and abutment in the monotype system avoids the stress concentration in the prosthetic screw and reduced the peri-implant bone strain.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different framework materials on biomechanical behaviour of anterior two-unit cantilever resin-bonded fixed dental prostheses (RBFDPs). A three-dimensional finite element model of a two-unit cantilever RBFDP replacing a maxillary lateral incisor was created. Five framework materials were evaluated: direct fibre-reinforced composite (FRC-Z250), indirect fibre-reinforced composite (FRC-ES), gold alloy (M), glass ceramic (GC), and zirconia (ZI). Finite element analysis was performed and stress distribution was evaluated. A similar stress pattern, with stress concentrations in the connector area, was observed in RBFDPs for all materials. Maximal principal stress showed a decreasing order: ZI > M > GC > FRC-ES > FRC-Z250. The maximum displacement of RBFDPs was higher for FRC-Z250 and FRC-ES than for M, GC, and ZI. FE analysis depicted differences in location of the maximum stress at the luting cement interface between materials. For FRC-Z250 and FRC-ES, the maximum stress was located in the upper part of the proximal area of the retainer, whereas, for M, GC, and ZI, the maximum stress was located at the cervical outline of the retainer. The present study revealed differences in biomechanical behaviour between all RBFDPs. The general observation was that a RBFDP made of FRC provided a more favourable stress distribution.
The Effects of using PEEK Coping and Different Restorative Materials on the Stress Distribution in Tooth and Implant- supported Prostheses under Static Loading: 3D FEA

Abstract:Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the influence of utilizing Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) coping and three different dental restorative materials in the success of tooth and implant-supported fixed partial dentures (TISFPD) in the maxillary posterior region, under static loading by 3-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis (3D FEA). Materials and methods: Six 3D FEA models were designed assuming the extraction of maxillary first and second molars. Bone, implant, abutment, PEEK coping, second premolar, periodontal ligament (PDL) and six 3-unit TISFPD with different restorative materials [Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM), PEEK-Composite (PC), Monolithic Zirconia (MZ)] were modeled. Then, PEEK copings were modeled to be cemented onto the implants as a double-crown system for the first three groups (PFMPEEK, PCPEEK and MZPEEK) whereas, the next three groups (PFM, PC, MZ) excluded a PEEK coping in their designs. The prostheses were loaded twice, vertically and obliquely. From the determined points, 250 N for vertical loading (0o to the long axis) and 200 N for the oblique loading (30o to the long axis) were applied. Von Mises tension, maximum and minimum principal tension value criterias were analyzed. Results: Regardless of the material used for suprastructure, the maximum average stress was reduced by using PEEK coping. Considering the maximum stress distribution, PC appeared to have the highest stresses on the cortical bone, implant and screw. Additionally, the von Mises stresses formed in the PDL for each model were lower when PEEK coping was included in the design of the TISFPD, reducing the risk of intrusion. Conclusions: The stress distribution was positively affected by the PEEK coping in TISFPD design, reducing bone resorption and failure. This elastic material used generated lower stresses in the bone and implant, while no significant effect was found on stresses around natural teeth.

Abstract:Introduction: In the present study, the finite element method (FEM) was used to investigate the effects of prosthesis material types on stress distribution of the bone surrounding implants and to evaluate stress distribution in three-unit implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis (FDP). Materials and Methods: A three-dimensional (3D) finite element FDP model of the maxillary second premolar to the second molar was designed. Three load conditions were statically applied on the functional cusps in horizontal (57.0 N), vertical (200.0 N), and oblique (400.0 N, θ = 120°) directions. Four standard framework materials were evaluated: Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), base-metal, porcelain fused to metal, andporcelain. Results: The maximum of von Mises stress in the oblique direction was higher than the vertical and horizontal directions in all conditions. In the bone-crestal section, the maximum von Mises stress (53.78 MPa) was observed in PMMA within oblique load. In FDPs, the maximum stress was generated at the connector region in all conditions. Conclusion: A noticeable difference was not observed in the bone stress distribution pattern with different prosthetic materials. Although, higher stress value could be seen in polymethyl methacrylate, all types of prosthesis yielded the same stress distribution pattern in FDP. More clinical studies are needed to evaluate the survival rate of these materials.
Influence of rigidity of retainers on dynamic behavior of implant-supported removable partial dentures

Abstract:Abstract Background Implant-supported removable partial dentures (ISRPDs) are an effective treatment for partially edentulous patients. ISRPDs improve patients’ satisfaction and oral function to a greater extent than RPDs by improving denture stability and enhancing support. However, the effect of a type of direct retainer on displacement of the abutment teeth and dentures in ISRPDs remains unclear. Therefore, we made a resin mandibular model of unilateral mandibular distal-extension partial edentulism for mechanical simulation and compared the dynamic behavior of the abutment teeth and the denture base among different tooth-borne retainers with various rigidities for RPDs and ISRPDs. Methods A resin mandibular model for mechanical simulation that had unilateral mandibular distal-extension edentulism and was missing the first molar, second molar, first premolar, and second premolar, and a denture fabricated from the patient’s computed tomography images were used. Three types of direct retainers with different connecting rigidities were evaluated. The vertical displacement of the denture base and buccal and lingual sides and the mesial displacement of the abutment teeth were measured. Results Regardless of the rigidity of the direct retainers and loading positions, the displacement of the denture bases in the ISRPDs was significantly smaller than that in the RPDs ( P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in vertical displacement of the denture bases among direct retainers with various connecting rigidities in the ISRPDs. Conversely, horizontal displacement of the abutment teeth in both the RPDs and ISRPDs tended to be larger with the cone crown telescope, which has high rigidity, than with the cast cingulum rest and wire clasp, which have much lower rigidities. Conclusion Our results suggested that cast cingulum rest and wire clasps as direct retainers are appropriate ISRPDs to minimize denture movement and suppress displacement of the remaining teeth in patients with unilateral mandibular distal-extension partial edentulism.

Abstract:The geometry of implants plays a crucial role in the success of All-on-Four treatments for the lower jaw. This study builds upon prior research by evaluating the biomechanical performance of implant-supported prostheses in full-arch fixed dental restorations, specifically focusing on different implant lengths and connection types in cases of mild atrophic resorption of the mandible. Four groups were analyzed using finite element analysis (FEA): We utilized 13 or 18 mm posterior 17-degree tilting implants, each paired with two kinds of abutment connections. The external hexagon connection (EHC) group utilized 4 mm diameter implants, while the internal hexagon connection (IHC) group employed 4.3 mm diameter implants. A vertical force was applied to the cantilever region located at the distal side of the posterior implant. The maximum stress regions were observed in prosthetic screws and multi-unit abutments (MUAs) across all groups, with the lowest von Mises stress values noted in the bone. Stress peaks for implant screws and fixtures in the 13 mm group were 19.98% and 11.42% lower, respectively, compared to the IHC group. Similarly, in the 18 mm group, stress peaks were reduced by 33.16% and 39.70% for the EHC group compared to the IHC group. The stress levels on all components remained below the ultimate strength of the titanium alloy. For the same implant lengths, the stress in the prosthetic screw, MUAs, implant screw, and implant fixture positions was lower in the EHC group. When implant length was increased, a decrease in stress levels was observed in the implant screw and fixture of the EHC group and only in the implant screw of the IHC group. However, an increase in stress was noted in the prosthetic screw and MUAs for both groups.
