Abstract:Oleanolic acid （OA） exhibited good pharmacological activities in the clinical treatment of hypoglycemia, immune regulation, acute jaundice and chronic toxic hepatitis. However, the oral delivery of OA is greatly limited by its inferior water solubility and poor intestinal mucosa permeability. Herein, we developed a novel polymeric nanoparticle （NP） delivery system based on vitamin E modified aliphatic polycarbonate （mPEG-PCC-VE） to facilitate oral absorption of OA. OA encapsulated mPEG-PCC-VE NPs （OA/mPEG-PCC-VE NPs） showed uniform particle size of about 170 nm with high drug loading capability （8.9%）. Furthermore, the polymeric mPEG-PCC-VE NPs, with good colloidal stability and pH-sensitive drug release characteristics, significantly enhanced the in vitro dissolution of OA in the alkaline medium. The in situ single pass intestinal perfusion （SPIP） studies performed on rats demonstrated that the OA/m PEG-PCC-VE NPs showed significantly improved permeability in the whole intestinal tract when compared to OA solution, especially for duodenum and colon. As a result, the in vivo pharmacokinetics study indicated that the bioavailability of OA/m PEG-PCC-VE NPs showed 1.5-fold higher than commercially available OA tablets. These results suggest that mPEGPCC-VE NPs are a promising platform to facilitate the oral delivery of OA.

Abstract:In this work, the soy protein/chitosan-based microsphere (SCM), as a stable biocompatible vehicle of oleanolic acid (OA), was constructed for the first time under acidic conditions, and OA was firstly used for quality maintenance of minimally processed products. The effect of soybean protein isolate/chitosan ratio, particle concentration and oil fraction on emulsion stability was studied. Additionally, the interfacial characteristics of SCM with and without loading OA were determined by cryo-SEM. Results demonstrated that the encapsulation efficiency of SCM embedded with 0.15% OA (SCM-OA0.15%) rated up to 87.53% +/- 2.23%, and SCM-OA showed smaller particle size, greater stability, and better liquid-state behavior, as well as the enhanced antibacterial and antioxidant properties in comparison to the control and SCM group. The minimally processed apples were used to evaluate the potential application of SCM-OA delivery system and it was evident that SCM-OA contributed to reducing weight loss, maintaining total phenol content and inhibiting color browning of minimally process apples. These findings shed new light on the emerging biocompatible vehicles of plant-derived bioactive substance.
Glycyrrhizic Acid-Phospholipid Complex: Preparation Process Optimization and Therapeutic and Pharmacokinetic Evaluation in Rats

Abstract:The purpose of the present study was to prepare glycyrrhizic acid-phospholipid complex (GL-PLC) as to improve the oral bioavailability of glycyrrhizic acid (GL), enhance the drug efficacy and reduce the side effects. The uniform experimental design approach was utilized for the process optimization in order to obtain the satisfactory complex. The results of comparison between GL-PLC and free GL indicated that the anti-inflammatory activity of the phospholipid complex was significantly higher than that of free GL at the same dose. The results of pharmacokinetic study displayed that the plasma concentration of glycyrrhetic acid, the metabolite of GL in vivo, increased after oral administration of GL-PLC. The C-max of GL-PLC was 2.14 times higher than that of free glycyrrhizic acid, while the AUC of GL-PLC, was 1.74 times higher than that of free GL. The results proved that GL-PLC improved the lipophilic property of GL, increased the bioavailability and anti-inflammatory activity.
Preparation and characterization of oleanolic acid-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles for oral administration

Abstract:Oleanolic acidloaded solid lipid nanoparticles (OA-SLNs) were prepared by using an improved emulsionsolvent evaporation method. The size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, and loading efficiency of OASLNs were (104.5±11.7) nm, (-25.5±1.8) mV, (94.2±3.9)%, and (4.71±0.15)%, respectively. The morphology was illustrated by TEM as sphere stuffed particles. The XRD and DSC spectra confirmed that the OA molecules were dispersed uniformly into SLN matrixes. The results of in vitro release test suggested that OA was released slowly at a rate of 4.88% per hour from SLN preparation, which was consistent with the Zeroorder Released Model. In addition, OASLNs were stable in artificial gastric juice and artificial intestinal juice. Abstract:OBJECTIVES: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the third most common cause of cancer death. Oleanolic acid (OA) is a natural triterpenoid, has many important biological actions, including antitumor effect, but its poor solubility often leads to poor pharmacodynamics. The aim of our work is to make OA-loaded poly (lactide-co-glycolide)-d-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (PLGA-TPGS) nanoparticles (OPTN) to improve its efficacy to liver cancer and characterize it.METHODS: OPTN were prepared by ultrasonic emulsification-solvent evaporation technique using PLGA with or without the addition of TPGS (OPN). The coumarin-6-loaded nanoparticles were used as a fluorescence marker. The nanoparticles were characterized for surface morphology, surface charge, particle size, drug loading, encapsulation efficiency, in vitro drug-release, cellular uptake, cytotoxicity by human liver cancer cell line HepG2 cells, and therapeutic effect in vivo.KEY FINDINGS: The prepared nanoparticles were found to be spherical in shape. The in vitro drug-release profile of both nanoparticle formulations showed a biphasic release pattern. There was an increased level of uptake and cytotoxicity of OPTN in the HepG2 cells compared with that of OPN. The treatment of OPTN group was better than OPN and FS groups in vivo.CONCLUSION: The results showed advantages of OPTN in terms of sustainable release and efficacy in liver cancer chemotherapy compared with OPN. OPTN could be acted as a novel and new dosage form to be used in cancer treatment study.

Abstract:Aim: Oat protein-shellac nanoparticles (NPs) were developed as a delivery system for resveratrol to improve bioavailability. Materials & methods: The NPs were prepared from w/w emulsion followed by cold-gelation. In vitro release and cell uptake mechanism of NPs were estimated by HPLC and confocal laser scanning microscopy. In vivo bioavailability and hepatoprotective activity of encapsulated resveratrol were studied using rat models. Results & conclusion: NPs (90–300 nm) protected resveratrol in gastric fluid, while allowing controlled release into small intestine in vitro. The optimized NPs showed improvement in resveratrol cell uptake and transport when compared with free resveratrol. NP-100S increased resveratrol bioavailability up to 72.4%, and the absorbed resveratrol effectively prevented CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity by attenuating oxidative stress.

Abstract:BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE An intronic polymorphism of presenilin-1 (PS-1), a gene responsible for early-onset familial Alzheimer's disease, has been reported to be associated with late-onset sporadic Alzheimer's disease. In a search for a genetic risk factor of sporadic cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), we investigated the association of the polymorphism of PS-1 with CAA. METHODS The association between the severity of CAA and genotypes of a polymorphism in intron 8 of PS-1 was investigated in 137 autopsy cases of the elderly. RESULTS A significant decrease of PS-1 2/2 genotype frequency was associated with severe or moderate CAA. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that PS-1 intronic polymorphism may be associated with the severity of CAA in the elderly.
Preparation and optimization of ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome and its activity on Kupffer cells

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to prepare and optimize ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome (OPL), and to improve the immune-enhancing activity of ophiopogon polysaccharide (OP). OPL was prepared and optimized using the methods of reverse-phase evaporation and response surface methodology. The property was evaluated with particle size, zeta potential, and morphology. The results showed that the optimum preparation conditions were: soybean phosphatide to OP ratio of 9.5:1, soybean phospholipid to cholesterol ratio of 8:1, and chloroform to phosphate-buffered saline ratio of 3:1. Subsequently, the immune-enhancing activity of OPL on Kupffer cells (KCs) was performed. The results showed that OPL could significantly promote the phagocytosis of KCs, induce the secretion of nitric oxide, induced nitric oxide synthase, IL-6 and IL-12, and improve the expression of CD80 and CD86 compared with OP at 125-7.813 μg mL(-1). These results indicated that the immune-enhancing activity of OP was significantly improved after encapsulated with liposome. Therefore, liposome would be expected to exploit into a new-type preparation of OP.

Development and In vitro and In vivo Evaluations of a Microemulsion Formulation for the Oral Delivery of Oxaprozin

Abstract:Background: Oxaprozin is labeled as a Class II drug in the biopharmaceutical classification system, and its poor solubility in the entire gastrointestinal tract may be the main reason for its insufficient oral absorption capacity. Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop an oxaprozin formulation to enhance its oral absorption. Methods: Oxaprozin-loaded microemulsions were prepared using the titration method and pseudoternary phase diagram. Characterization experiments were performed on microemulsion preparations, including pH, particle size, shape, zeta potential, and stability (thermodynamic, dilution, and differential scanning calorimetry). Then, the in vitro release of the microemulsion and in vivo pharmacokinetics in rats were evaluated. Results: Several microemulsion formulations were prepared. The optimal formulation was 15% oleoyl macrogolglycerides, 35% Tween 20/isopropanol (Km=2), and 50% distilled water. Its particle size met the requirements, and it had a spherical shape with a negatively charged surface. This microemulsion-loaded drug was applied to in vitro release and in vivo pharmacokinetic experiments at 7.47 mg/mL. In vitro release of the oxaprozin-loaded microemulsion best fit the firstorder model, while the microemulsion preparation had a certain sustained-release effect. In vivo pharmacokinetic experiments indicated that the microemulsion formulation significantly delayed the peak time of the blood concentration and simultaneously prolonged the half-life of drug elimination. Conclusion: The obtained data revealed satisfactory results for this novel microemulsion of oxaprozin, which is very meaningful for clinical trials.

Abstract:Ursolic acid (UA) is a poor soluble natural triterpenoid. It has a wide variety of antitumor activities. We extracted it from Crataegus pinnatifida for the first time. To achieve a high bioavailability, targeting effect, stability, and an intravenous (i.v.) administration, the UA phospholipid nanopowders (UA-PL-NP) were prepared, characterized, and evaluated. With soybean phospholipid as the carrier and poloxamer 188 as emulsifier, the UA nanoparticle suspension was prepared by solvent emulsification-evaporation and ultrasonic dispersion. The UA-PL-NP was obtained by freeze drying. The body distribution in mice was studied after i.v. administration of UA-PL-NP and an UA control solution (UA-Sol). The entrapment efficiency (EE) and UA concentration in vitro and in vivo were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that the UA-PL-NP had an average diameter of 273.8 nm with a zeta potential of -23.2 mV. The EE was up to 86.0%, and the drug loading (DL) was 12.8%. After i.v. administration of UA-PL-NP with low, middle and high doses, UA concentration in the livers of mice obviously increased during tested period and was highest in tested organs at 4 h. The AUC(0-12) ratio of UA-PL-NP in liver to that in plasma was much higher than that of UA-Sol, and the liver AUC(0-12) ratio of UA-PL-NP to UA-Sol was 8.6. These results indicate the UA-PL-NP have a good targeting to the liver after i.v. administration. Therefore, the UA-PL-NP is demonstrated to be available as an i.v. and liver targeting system for lipophilic antitumor triterpenoids.

Abstract:Osteoporosis is a disease that causes low bone mass and deterioration of bone microarchitecture. Puerarin is a natural isoflavone compound that has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and ameliorative effects on osteoporosis with less adverse reactions. However, its fast metabolism and low oral bioavailability limit its application. This study aimed to prepare D-α-tocopherol polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS)- modified Puerarin Long Circulating Liposomes (TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes), in order to improve the oral bioavailability of puerarin, before evaluation of its pharmacological activity in vitro and in vivo. We employed film dispersion method to develop TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes before appropriate characterizations. Afterwards, we utilized in vivo imaging, pharmacokinetic analysis and in vitro drug release testing to further evaluate the in vivo and in vitro delivery efficiency. In addition, we established a castrated osteoporosis rat model to observe the changes in femur tissue structure and bone micromorphology via hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and Micro Computed Tomography (Micro CT). Besides, levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory indicators, as well as expression of wnt/β-catenin pathway-related proteins were detected. In terms of physiochemical properties, the respective mean particle size (PS) and zeta potential (ZP) of TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes were 76.63±0.59 nm and -25.54±0.11 mV. The liposomal formulation exhibited encapsulation efficiency (EE) of 95.08±0.25% and drug loading (DL) of 7.84±0.07%, along with excellent storage stability. Compared with free drugs, the TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes demonstrated a sustained release effect and could increase blood concentration of puerarin in rats, thereby significantly improving its bioavailability. Also, in vivo studies have confirmed potential of the liposomes to promote bone tissue targeting and accumulation of puerarin, coupled with significant improvement of the osteoporotic status. Besides, the liposomes could also reduce levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory factors in serum and bone tissue. Additionally, we discovered that TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes increased Wnt, β-catenin and T-cell factor (TCF) expressions at protein level in the wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This study has demonstrated the potential of TPGS-Puerarin-liposomes for treatment of osteoporosis.

Abstract:Liposomes (LPs) are a delivery system for stabilizing pharmaceuticals with limited use due to their propensity to congregate and fuse. A proposed method of addressing these problems is polymer coating. In this study, the potential of octadecylamine (ODA)-coated liposomes and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS/ODA-LPs) for enhancing Wacao pentacyclic triterpene saponin (WPTS) transport capacity was investigated. CMCS/ODA-LPs were produced by electrostatic adsorption and thin-film hydration. Response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to enhance the process and encapsulation efficiency (EE) for optimum drug encapsulation efficiency. The synthesized WPTS-CMCS/ODA-LPs were uniformly dispersed in a circular shape, and during 14 days of storage at 4 °C, the particle size and morphology did not significantly change. Vesicle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI), and entrapment efficiency (%) were 179.1 ± 7.31 nm, −29.6 ± 1.35 mV, 0.188 ± 0.052, and 75.62 ± 0.43, respectively. The hemolysis test revealed that WPTS-CMCS/ODA-LPs were sufficiently biocompatible. Compared to WPTS-LPs, WPTS-CMCS/ODA-LPs consistently showed a much more significant cytotoxic effect on cancer cells. Early and WPTS-CMCS/ODA-LPs-induced apoptosis resulted in almost seven times more cell death than the control. Compared to physiological pH 7.3, the pH-sensitive CMCS coupled LPs increased drug release at acidic pH 6.5. These findings suggest the efficacy of pH-sensitive CMCS/ODA-LPs as a medication delivery method for WPTS.

Abstract:The growing interest in oleanolic acid (OA) as a triterpenoid with remarkable health benefits prompts an emphasis on its efficient use in pharmaceutical research. OA exhibits a range of pharmacological effects, including antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, immune-enhancing, gastroprotective, hepatoprotective, antitumor, and antiviral properties. While OA demonstrates diverse pharmacological effects, optimizing its therapeutic potential requires overcoming significant challenges. In the field of pharmaceutical research, the exploration of efficient drug delivery systems is essential to maximizing the therapeutic potential of bioactive compounds. Efficiently delivering OA faces challenges, such as poor aqueous solubility and restricted bioavailability, and to unlock its full therapeutic efficacy, novel formulation strategies are imperative. This discussion thoroughly investigates different approaches and advancements in OA drug delivery systems with the aim of enhancing the biopharmaceutical features and overall efficacy in diverse therapeutic contexts.

A simple but efficient tumor-targeted nanoparticle delivery system constructed by oleic acid

Abstract:Oleic acid (OA) is a kind of monounsaturated omega-3 fatty acid that abounds in plants and animals which can induce apoptosis and has broad-spectrum inhibitory activity against a variety of tumor cell lines. However, OA is quite insoluble and thus inconvenient to be efficiently delivered in vivo. In this work, OA was fabricated into nanoparticles to generate OA elastic nanoparticles (OA-ENPs) with a particle size of 185.6 nm and good stability in various physiological media. OA-ENPs alone achieved a high tumor inhibition rate of 60.3% without significant side effect. More surprisingly, the resultant OA-ENPs displayed dose-dependent tumor targetability. Low dose of OA-ENPs (10 mg/kg) mainly distributed in the liver after intravenous injection, while high dose of OA-ENPs mainly distributed in tumor. At the high dose of 90 mg/kg, OA-ENPs accumulation in tumor reached nearly twice as that in the liver. Here we provide a simple but effective way to achieve excellent tumor targetability without the need of any surface modification of nanoparticles.

Abstract:AIM To investigated the molecular cause of very early-onset ulcerative colitis (UC) in an 18-mo-old affected child. METHODS We analysed the interleukin-10 (IL10) receptor genes at the DNA and RNA level in the proband and his relatives. Beta catenin and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα) receptors were analysed in the proteins extracted from peripheral blood cells of the proband, his relatives and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome (PHTS) patients. Samples were also collected from the proband's inflamed colorectal mucosa and compared to healthy and tumour mucosa collected from a FAP patient and patients affected by sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). Finally, we examined mesalazine and azathioprine effects on primary fibroblasts stabilised from UC and FAP patients. RESULTS Our patient was a compound heterozygote for the IL10RB E47K polymorphism, inherited from his father, and for a novel point mutation within the IL10RA promoter (the -413G->T), inherited from his mother. Beta catenin and tumour necrosis factor α receptors-I (TNFRI) protein were both over-expressed in peripheral blood cells of the proband's relatives more than the proband. However, TNFRII was over-expressed only in the proband. Finally, both TNFα-receptors were shown to be under-expressed in the inflamed colon mucosa and colorectal cancer tissue compared to healthy colon mucosa. Consistent with this observation, mesalazine and azathioprine induced, in primary fibroblasts, IL10RB and TNFRII over-expression and TNFRI and TNFα under-expression. We suggest that β-catenin and TNFRI protein expression in peripheral blood cells could represent molecular markers of sub-clinical disease in apparently healthy relatives of patients with early-onset UC. CONCLUSION A synergistic effect of several variant alleles of the IL10 receptor genes, inherited in a Mendelian manner, is involved in UC onset in this young child.
Ethnobotanical Skills and Clearance of Tropical Rain Forest for Agriculture: A Case Study in the Lowlands of Bolivia

Abstract:Abstract Indigenous peoples are often considered potential allies in the conservation of biological diversity. Here we assess whether ethnobotanical skills of indigenous people contribute to a reduction in the clearance of tropical rain forest. We measured ethnobotanical skills of male household heads and area of rain forest cleared for agriculture among 128 households of Tsimane', a native Amazonian group in Bolivia. We used multivariate regressions to estimate the relation between ethnobotanical skills and area of rain forest cleared while controlling for schooling, health status, number of plots cleared, adults in household, and village of residency. We found that when the ethnobotanical skills of the male household head were doubled, the amount of tropical rain forest cleared per household was reduced by 25%. The association was stronger when the area of old-growth forest cleared was used as the dependent variable than when the area cleared from fallow forest was used as the dependent variable. People who use the forest for subsistence might place a higher value on standing forest than people who do not use it, and thus they may be more reluctant to cut down the forest.

Abstract:Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease that seriously impairs people's physical function and quality of life. Triptolide (TP), as a promising anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of OA, has limited clinical application due to its severe systemic toxicity, poor solubility and rapid elimination in the body. To extend its application prospect for OA treatment. We have developed a liposome-loaded dissolving microneedle (DMN) system, which can effectively deliver poorly water-soluble TP and improve OA symptoms. To incorporate TP into DMNs, triptolide liposome (TP-Lipo) with entrapment efficiency of 90.25% was prepared by ethanol injection. Subsequently, TP-Lipo was concentrated by ultrafiltration tube and mixed with hyaluronic acid solution to prepare DMNs, TP-Lipo-loaded DMNs (TP-Lipo@DMNs) showed sufficient mechanical and insertion properties to penetrate about 200 μm of rat skin. The drug distribution in vivo showed that TP-Lipo@DMNs had a slow-release effect compared with intra-articular injection. In vivo pharmacodynamic research showed that TP-Lipo@DMNs significantly reduced knee joint swelling and the level of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6). Micro-CT and histological evaluation showed that TP-Lipo@DMNs effectively reduced cartilage destruction and alleviated OA symptoms. These results support that TP@Lipo@DMNs may be a promising option for OA treatment.
Preparation and characterization of liprotides prepared from protein extracts of mung beans (Vigna radiata (L.))

Abstract:In recent years, liprotides, which are protein-fatty acid complexes with core-shell structures, have proven to be promising drug carriers for cancer treatment. Due to their novel nature, there are limited studies surrounding liprotides, especially one synthesized from plant-based proteins. Thus, to explore new possibilities for liprotide synthesis, mung bean albumins and globulins were each extracted and combined with oleic acid (OA) at different temperatures (40 °C and 80 °C) to synthesize four variations of plant-based liprotides (Alp40, Alp80, Glp40, and Glp80). These, along with OA and protein controls, were characterized through ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, visual stability testing, particle size analysis, and zeta potential analysis. The IR spectra of the liprotides compared to the controls suggested that the OA molecule was encapsulated within the protein shell as intended. Peak shifts in characteristic absorption bands were also observed, indicating possible structural changes that may or may not be correlated to liprotide formation. Particle size analysis showed that the synthesized liprotides had significantly larger diameters than those indicated in published data and were highly polydispersed (PdI > 0.4). Lastly, zeta-potential analysis of the samples revealed that the oleic acid controls garnered a negative zeta-potential greater than -70 mV. This contrasts the zeta-potential values of both protein controls and liprotides which ranged between -23 mV and -33 mV.

Hepatocyte-targeted delivery using oleanolic acid-loaded liposomes for enhanced hepatocellular carcinoma therapy.

Abstract:Drug-loaded liposomes have been shown to be effective in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the systemic non-specific distribution of drug-loaded liposomes in tumor patients is a critical therapeutic challenge. To address this issue, we developed galactosylated chitosan-modified liposomes (GC@Lipo) that could selectively bind to the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR), which is highly expressed on the membrane surface of HCC cells. Our study demonstrated that the GC@Lipo significantly enhanced the anti-tumor efficacy of oleanolic acid (OA) by enabling targeted drug delivery to hepatocytes. Remarkably, treatment with OA-loaded GC@Lipo inhibited the migration and proliferation of mouse Hepa1-6 cells by upregulating E-cadherin expression and downregulating N-cadherin, vimentin, and AXL expressions, compared to a free OA solution and OA-loaded liposomes. Furthermore, using an axillary tumor xenograft mouse model, we observed that OA-loaded GC@Lipo led to a significant reduction in tumor progression, accompanied by concentrated enrichment in hepatocytes. These findings strongly support the clinical translation of ASGPR-targeted liposomes for the treatment of HCC.

Abstract:Chlorogenic acid (CGA), a polyphenol compound, exhibits excellent anti-oxidative, anti-hypoxic, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory activities, however the bioactivity of it has not been fully utilized in vivo due to its instability and low bioavailability. To address these issues, we prepared and characterized CGA-TPGS-LP, which is a TPGS-modified liposome loaded with CGA. The pharmacokinetics of CGA-TPGS-LP were studied in rats after oral administration. CGA-TPGS-LP was fabricated using a combination of thin film dispersion and ion-driven methods. The liposomes were observed to be uniformly small and spherical in shape. Their membranes were composed of lecithin, cholesterol, and TPGS lipophilic head with a TPGS hydrophilic tail chain coating on its surface. The loading efficiency and encapsulation efficiency were found to be 11.21% and 83.22%, respectively. The physicochemical characterisation demonstrated that the CGA was present in an amorphous form and retained its original structural state within the liposomal formulation. The stability of CGA was significantly improved by fabricating TPGS-LP. CGA-TPGS-LP exhibited good sustained-release properties in both simulated gastric and intestinal fluids. Following oral administration, ten metabolites were identified in rat plasma using UPLC-QTOF-MS. UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS quantitative analysis demonstrated that the oral bioavailability of CGA encapsulated in TPGS-modified liposomes was enhanced by 1.52 times. In addition, the three main metabolites of CGA had higher plasma concentrations and slower degradation rate. These results demonstrate that TPGS-modified liposomes could be a feasible strategy to further enhance the oral bioavailability of CGA, facilitating its clinical use.
