Abstract:Presents the crucial techniques of hardware and software designing applied to wireless signal sampling device in electrocardiogram monitoring.This type of device is designed with the functions of sampling,filtering,wireless transmitting,and characterized with portable,low-power,anti-interference,intelligent,etc.The system is controlled by MSP430 singlechip.It filters and amplifies the signal and send data wirelessly.Experiments indicate the system is suitable for continuous monitoring.

Abstract:Aiming at the signal transmission mechanism and characteristic of Human Body Communication(HBC),a more practical HBC system model is proposed and Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) is adopted to explore from the aspect of interaction between electromagnetic field and human body.Simulation results show that in HBC,signal transmission along the arm surface possesses the features of surface wave.Electromagnetic field has different attenuation constants in the direction parallel and normal to human body surface.It is noted that 500 MHz～600 MHz is the best communication frequency band for the human body transmission in the 0～1 000 MHz frequency range.Good communication can be achieved when transceiver is somewhat apart from human body surface.

Abstract:Biosignals have become an important indicator not only for medical diagnosis and subsequent therapy, but also passive health monitoring. Extracting meaningful features from biosignals can help people understand the human functional state, so that upcoming harmful symptoms or diseases can be alleviated or avoided. There are two main approaches commonly used to derive useful features from biosignals, which are hand-engineering and deep learning. The majority of the research in this field focuses on hand-engineering features, which require domain-specific experts to design algorithms to extract meaningful features. In the last years, several studies have employed deep learning to automatically learn features from raw biosignals to make feature extraction algorithms less dependent on humans. These studies have also demonstrated promising results in a variety of biosignal applications. In this survey, we review different types of biosignals and the main approaches to extract features from the signal in the context of biomedical applications. We also discuss challenges and limitations of the existing approaches, and possible future research.

Abstract:Different methods of automatic detecting are challenging problems in many fields Most of them are simply based on detection Of image or sound, and have some limitations caused by the camera's field of view or the frequency of the sound. Our system is based on sound detection and image analysis of object's motion. Sound detection adopts an algorithm of hyperbolic locating according to signal's time difference which is sensed by a comparator from two microphones. Image analysis integrates two methods into the system which are based on motion and complexion matching The proposed system utilizes both sound and image for signal processing, so it can work without serious deterioration performance in case of low resolution. Experiments on sound detection and image analysis are presented and the results are discussed. The design of the system will be applied well in intelligence Systems.

Abstract:varieties and amount of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in human's breath are relevant to the health state of human body, and it can be used in disease diagnosis. A kind of uncoated surface acoustic wave (SAW)resonator sensor is presented to develop a system, which can detect the VOCs in human's breath. The composition and principle of this system is introduced, and the key parts of the system were tested. Several experiments were carried out to test the feasibility of the system. The preliminary experimental result shows that this system can detect VOCs at ×10-9 (ppb)level concentrations directly, which demonstrate the potential and prospect for the application of human breath examination.

Abstract:Heart sounds and respiratory sounds are important index which reflect physiology and pathology of heart and lung.The traditional stethoscope can not record the sound data,and can not give qualitative analysis or quantitative analysis.And cross-infection between the doctor and the patient is inevitable when using those traditional stethoscopes.In this paper,a new monitor system about heart sounds and respiratory sounds based on Bluetooth and microchip techniques is proposed.And the signal's waves can be displayed in the monitor PC and the voices of the signals can be played on real time.The heart sounds and respiratory sounds information can be obtained by the proposed system and cross-infection between medical personnel and patients can be avoided.The monitor system is particularly useful for fulminating infections diseases and has high values of medical and society.

Abstract:For the purpose of better preventing cardiovascular diseases and improving the life quality of human beings,a scheme of an electrocardiogram(ECG)monitoring system based on wireless system-on-chip technology is presented in this paper.Firstly,the hardware design of the ECG signal sampler and the base station is shown in detail,including the design of the amplification circuit and the choice of the MCU-wireless system-on-chip package.Secondly,the wireless communication protocol between the ECG signal sampler and the base station is determined,based upon which the software for the ECG signal sampler is developed.Thirdly,the initialization and communication protocols between the base station and the remote monitoring center are determined,based upon which applications programs are developed.Lastly,the remote monitoring center is described.With the integration of wireless system-on-chip technique,wireless communication technique,embedded system technique and internet technique,the system finally fulfill the goal of remote ECG monitoring.

Abstract:As a method of non-contact life sign detection, life detection radar is widely used in post-disaster rescue and patient monitoring. How to detect the human heartbeat and respiration signals from the complex environment and further improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the signals is a difficult problem. In this paper, under the CW Doppler radar system, a life detection radar signal processing algorithm based on LMS adaptive filtering is proposed. On the basis of the traditional IIR filtering processing, the LMS adaptive filtering algorithm is further used for processing. The MATLAB simulation results show that the algorithm can extract and separate the heartbeat signal and respiration signal of the human target from the echo signal. The software and hardware are designed on the Micro-Doppler signal processing platform with FPGA as the core, and the human cardiopulmonary signal detection experiment is curried out by using the CW Doppler radar. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the signal processing algorithm and the correctness of the related design.

Abstract:A pulse and respiration synchronous detection system is designed to explore the changes of physiological signals in different situations. The system obtains the corresponding signal through STM32 control pulse and respiratory acquisition circuit, calculates and displays real-time parameters such as heart rate and respiratory rate, and transmits the data to the upper computer for storage in the database. The experimental test results show that the system can monitor pulse and respiratory waveform in different situations, and the waveform is in good condition. Compared with medical pulse oximeter, the error of measured heart rate and blood oxygen concentration is less than 3%, and the error of respiratory rate is less than 5% compared with the actual value, which verifies the accuracy of system signal acquisition. The system is small in size, low in cost, and comfortable to wear, and can be applied in experimental research related to pulse and respiratory signals.

Abstract:In this paper, analyses on sensitivity and link budget have been presented to guide the design of high-sensitivity noncontact vital sign detector. Important design issues such as flicker noise, baseband bandwidth, and gain budget have been discussed with practical considerations of analog-to-digital interface and signal processing methods in noncontact vital sign detection. Based on the analyses, a direct-conversion 5.8-GHz radar sensor chip with 1-GHz bandwidth was designed and fabricated. This radar sensor chip is software configurable to set the operation point and detection range for optimal performance. It integrates all the analog functions on-chip so that the output can be directly sampled for digital signal processing. Measurement results show that the fabricated chip has a sensitivity of better than -101 dBm for ideal detection in the absence of random body movement. Experiments have been performed successfully in laboratory environment to detect the vital signs of human subjects.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a fast solution to build a Doppler radar system for noncontact vital sign detection (VSD) using instruments that are generally equipped in radio-frequency and communication laboratories. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of conducting research on VSD in ordinary radio-frequency laboratories. The system is designed with a heterodyne digital quadrature demodulation architecture that helps mitigate quadrature channel imbalance and eliminate the complicated dc offset calibration required for arctangent demodulation. Moreover, its tunable carrier frequency helps select different optimal frequencies for different human objects. Two sets of extensive experiments have been carried out in the laboratory environment with a self-designed 2.4-GHz patch antenna array and a 1-18-GHz broadband antenna. The test results are satisfactory: for a 0-dBm transmit power, the detection range can be extended to 2.5 m with accuracy higher than 80%. The system is also capable of detecting vital signs in the presence of different obstructions between the subject and the antenna.

Abstract:In this paper, we report a single-board integrated Doppler radar system (DRS) operating at 24 GHz. To verify the performance of the 24-GHz DRS, we make a comparison between the existing 5.8-GHz Doppler radar system (DRS) and the 24-GHz one about the ability to detect the bio-signals (heartbeats, respiration and human gait). In the experiment, DRSs are placed in the same experimental environment and working at the same time for the comparison purposes. Experimental results show that the 24-GHz DRS detects Doppler bio-signals of both the small-scale human cardiac motion and the large-scale human gait more accurately than the 5.8GHz one. The obtained results imply the great potential to implement the 24-GHz Doppler radar system for human bio-signals detection.

Abstract:A system architecture for the lifetime recording of human being pathological features is proposed. The system is composed of a potable base station (PBS), a wireless intelligent sensing/intervention devices (SID) as well as a remote data center for data processing and storage. An intelligent body sound sensor is chosen for discussion for the reason that some key pathological features could be reflected by human body sounds, such as the cardiopulmonary tones, the bowel sounds as well as the fetal heart sounds. The design considerations of PBS with a dedicated monolithic transceiver are addressed for the communication between PBS and SID. A application prototype using the proposed technology for tracing the fetal heart rate by monitoring a pregnant woman is presented.

Abstract:In response to the current demand for the remote monitoring of older people living alone, a non-contact human vital signs monitoring system based on millimeter wave radar has gradually become the object of research. This paper mainly carried out research regarding the detection method to obtain human breathing and heartbeat signals using a frequency modulated continuous wave system. We completed a portable millimeter-wave radar module for wireless communication. The radar module was a small size and had a WIFI communication interface, so we only needed to provide a power cord for the radar module. The breathing and heartbeat signals were detected and separated by FIR digital filter and the wavelet transform method. By building a cloud computing framework, we realized remote and senseless monitoring of the vital signs for older people living alone. Experiments were also carried out to compare the performance difference between the system and the common contact detection system. The experimental results showed that the life parameter detection system based on the millimeter wave sensor has strong real-time performance and accuracy.

Abstract:A software system for automatic multifunctional cell physiological analyzer was designed for realizing automatic detection and analysis of cell physiological parameters. The system which combined with an integrated chip of cell-based biosensors and the cell physiological analyzer was utilized to detect a variety of physiological parameters such as extracellular ion concentrations, extracellular action potentials and electrophysiological impedance. A series of intelligent algorithms were adopted to analyze the cell electrophysiology, including the cell potential with peak detection, changes of cell impedance with an algorithm to dynamically calculate the half maximal inhibitory concentration, and extracellular ions parameters with operating points identification on I-V curves. After using the software system for drug testing, the half maximal inhibitory concentration curve of doxorubicin in rat cardiac myocytes was showed by the result, and of the algorithm parameters for automatic operating point detection were determined with a 13.5±1.9% error range. The automatic peak detection algorithm was utilized in three groups of different signal-to-noise rates with over 90% accuracy.

Abstract:With the rapid increase in the development of miniaturized sensors and embedded devices for vital signs monitoring, personal physiological signal monitoring devices are becoming popular. However, physiological monitoring devices which are worn on the body normally affect the daily activities of people. This problem can be avoided by using a non-contact measuring device like the Doppler radar system, which is more convenient, is private compared to video monitoring, infrared monitoring and other non-contact methods. Additionally real-time physiological monitoring with the Doppler radar system can also obtain signal changes caused by motion changes. As a result, the Doppler radar system not only obtains the information of respiratory and cardiac signals, but also obtains information about body movement. The relevant RF technology could eliminate some interference from body motion with a small amplitude. However, the motion recognition method can also be used to classify related body motion signals. In this paper, a vital sign and body movement monitoring system worked at 2.4 GHz was proposed. It can measure various physiological signs of the human body in a non-contact manner. The accuracy of the non-contact physiological signal monitoring system was analyzed. First, the working distance of the system was tested. Then, the algorithm of mining collective motion signal was classified, and the accuracy was 88%, which could be further improved in the system. In addition, the mean absolute error values of heart rate and respiratory rate were 0.8 beats/min and 3.5 beats/min, respectively, and the reliability of the system was verified by comparing the respiratory waveforms with the contact equipment at different distances.
