Abstract:Background: Pain in the dental operatory can have a profound effect on the behavior of children. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the pain perception while administering local infiltration, in children undergoing dental extractions, using a new auto-controlled injection system. Materials and methods: Children in the age range of 6-10 years with teeth indicated for extraction were recruited and allocated to either Group I, computer-controlled injection system (auto system with special cartridge and compatible disposable 30-gauge, 10 mm needles), or Group II, traditional system (30-gauge, 10 mm needle and disposable traditional syringe). Local infiltration was administered and extraction performed after 3 min. The time of administration (TOA) of infiltrate was noted whereas anxiety and pain in both groups were assessed using the Modified Child Dental Anxiety Faces Scale simplified (MCDAS(f)), pulse rate, Faces Pain Scale-Revised (FPS-R), and Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (FLACC) Scale. Results: The TOA was high in computer group, compared to the traditional system (P < 0.001***); however, anxiety and pain were significantly less in computer group as reported in MCDAS(f), pulse rate, FPS-R, and FLACC (P < 0.001***). Conclusions: Computer system created a positive and comfortable experience for the child, as well as the practitioner. The possibility of using buccal infiltration instead of inferior alveolar nerve block in children below 10 years was also demonstrated.
Comparison of intranasal ketamine with intranasal midazolam and dexmedetomidine combination in pediatric dental patients for procedural sedation: A crossover study

Abstract:Background: The main goal of the pediatric dentist is to address and reduce children's fear and anxiety during the dental treatment, especially when conventional behavior-guiding strategies fail. In such cases, the use of pharmacological agents becomes an essential factor to consider. Objective: The objective of the study was to compare the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of intranasal ketamine (INK) with the combination of intranasal midazolam and dexmedetomidine (INMzD) in pediatric dental patients for the procedural sedation. Patients and methods: Forty-seven children aged 3-9 years who required dental procedures such as extractions, pulpectomy, and restorations were randomly distributed into two groups using the envelope drawing method. Group INK received 7 mg/kg INK, whereas Group INMzD received a combination of midazolam spray (0.3 mg/kg) and atomized dexmedetomidine (3 μg/kg). Results: INK showed faster onset, faster recovery, and shorter discharge time than INMzD. Both groups had acceptable physiological parameters and no postoperative complications. INK was more accepted by the patients than INMzD. Conclusions: In terms of efficacy, safety, and acceptability, INK outperformed the combination of INMzD for the procedural sedation.
C omparative Evaluation of the Intranasal Spray Formulation of Midazolam and Dexmedetomidine in Patients Undergoing Surgical Removal of Impacted Mandibular Third Molars: A Split Mouth Prospective Study

Abstract:Purpose: The purpose of this prospective randomized single blinded split mouth study was to conduct a comparative evaluation of the efficacy of intranasal atomised spray formulation of Dexmedetomidine with Midazolam in patients undergoing surgical removal of bilaterally impacted mandibular third molars. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in twenty volunteers. Each volunteer underwent the surgical removal of an impacted mandibular third molar at two separate appointments at an interval of two weeks. The first third molar surgery was conducted using either intranasal Midazolam (Group M) or intranasal Dexmedetomidine (Group D). At the second appointment the surgical procedure was performed using the sedative agent not used at the first appointment. The primary testing outcome variables were Plasma oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse and blood pressure and Modified Observer's Assessment of Alertness/Sedation (OAA/S) scale. These were recorded at predetermined intervals starting 10 min before the administration of local anaesthesia and continued up to 10 min after completion of the procedure. In addition surgeon's opinion regarding the patient cooperation, event amnesia, post operative nausea & vomiting were obtained. Results: The sample composed of twenty patients (M = 9 and F = 11). There was statistically no significant difference between Group M and Group D with respect to mean SpO2. Minor differences were however noted at 20 and 30 min after sedation. There was no significant difference between the groups with respect to mean pulse rate, blood pressure, OAA/S, event amnesia, post operative nausea and vomiting and patient cooperation. Conclusion: We conclude that Midazolam and Dexmedetomidine are equivalent and can be used in minor oral surgery with minimal complications. These drugs can be used intranasally using nasal atomization device in routine outpatient basis in otherwise normal healthy but anxious patients. All procedures must however be performed in the presence of an anaesthesiologist and with ready availability of emergency drugs and equipment.

Abstract:Context: Dental environment is one of the most anxiety-provoking stimuli for children, which makes patient management a constant challenge in both typically growing and intellectually disabled children. Distraction is a nonpharmacological technique to manage anxiety in children during dental treatment.Aim: This study compares the effect of audio and virtual reality (VR) distraction on the dental anxiety of healthy and mild intellectually disabled children.Methods: Forty children aged 6-14 years were divided into two groups (Group I: children with mild intellectual disability and Group II: healthy children). Groups I and II were further subdivided into two subgroups of 10 children each, based on the distraction technique given to them during the first appointment. After 1 month, we carried out a cross-over of the subgroups. Anxiety levels were measured using physiological and observational parameters at three-time intervals.Statistical Analysis: Performed using paired t-test for the intergroup comparison and Wilcoxon Signed Rank test for the intra-group comparison.Results: A decrease in the pulse rate, improvement in oxygen saturation levels, and lower Venham's anxiety rating scores were observed on introducing audio and VR distraction in all the subgroups. The inter-group comparison revealed that audio and VR were more effective in healthy children than children with mild intellectual disabilities.Conclusions: Audio and VR distraction techniques can be employed successfully to reduce anxiety in children with mild intellectual disability and healthy children undergoing dental restorative treatment.

Abstract:INTRODUCTION: In dentistry, pain and anxiety have been the most challenging aspect in the management of a pediatric patient. When every effort to perform local anesthesia (LA) is not successful, the result would be more stressful for both the dentist and the patient. The so-called clichéd paradigm that "pain and dentistry are inseparable" can be resolved by updating the knowledge and skills of the practitioner by using the more advanced techniques in controlling and managing the pain. An array of techniques for administering the LA to improve the comfort level of our patients has been the area of interest.AIM AND OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of various adjunctive aids of LA in reducing pain and anxiety in pediatric patients of the 6-8 years age-group. A total of 90 child dental patients were selected and randomly divided into six groups, i.e., control, topical gel, audio, audiovisual, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS), and Vibraject group. Physiological parameters, psychological parameters, and pain assessment were recorded.RESULTS: As reflected by the results, the minimum pulse rate "during" and "after" LA administration is seen in A/V (D) and TENS (E) "during" LA administration. Children were less anxious and more relaxed in the audiovisual group and TENS group. Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation and Vibraject groups showed maximum reduction in pain.CONCLUSION: A/V (D) and TENS (E) groups exhibited the least anxiety. Abstract:Background: Dental anxiety is a frequent reason for reluctance in young children, leading to challenges in delivering effective dental treatment due to their uncooperative behavior. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of different behaviour management techniques while administrating injectable LA with minimum pain perception and anxiety in children. Material and methods: One hundred and twenty children, aged 4 to 10 years, were equally and randomly assigned to four groups. In Group I, local anesthesia was administered while using wireless headphones. For Group II, local anesthesia was administered using a mobile phone with earpieces. Group III received local anesthesia while incorporating the 3D virtual reality eyewear method and Group IV received local anesthesia while utilizing the stress ball technique. Pain and anxiety assessments were conducted using various scales and Physiological parameters such as pulse rate and oxygen saturation levels were recorded and the resultant data were systematically tabulated for subsequent statistical analysis. Results: Virtual reality group showed highly significant result in terms of lowering anxiety and pain scores compared to audio, audio visual, stress ball groups (p<0.001). Virtual group (5.10) also displays significantly highest behavior scores than the audio (1.70), audio visual group (3.96) and Stress Ball groups (2.66). Conclusions: The virtual reality group emerged as the most effective method in alleviating anxiety and pain experienced by pediatric dental patients. Abstract:Administration of local anesthesia via injection is the main reason for inducing anxiety in children and if not intervened it aggravates the anxiety in subsequent appointments. There are many approaches, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods that can be used to reduce children's perception of pain and anxiety. A frequently used non-pharmacological behaviour management method to reduce anxiety and procedure pain is distraction. The rationale of distraction is to shift the attention to avert the brain from receiving unwanted stimulus which induce anxiousness. Many approaches including music, television, portable video games, virtual reality (VR) helmet, and virtual reality audio-visual eyewear, have been implemented so far. Kaleidoscope and virtual reality goggles may help as distraction techniques in reducing the levels of anxiety caused during administration of local anesthesia. By the aid of which the operator may be able to make the dental experience child friendly and ultimately provide quality dental care to anxious children. Non pharmacological measures of reducing pain are cost effective and best means that can be used while performing dental procedures. This is a research protocol for a study aimed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of kaleidoscope and virtual reality goggles to reduce dental anxiety in young children.

Comparative evaluation of three different behavior management techniques among children aged 6-12 years in dental practice: A single-center, double-blind, randomized controlled trial

Abstract:Background: Dental anxiety is characterized by distress in anticipation of dental visits, which may result in a child's refusal to undergo treatment and, ultimately, lead to parents' reluctance towards dental care. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the tell-show-do technique, modeling technique and yogic relaxation technique in the reduction of dental anxiety among children aged 6-12 years. Material and methods: The study was an interventional, parallel-group, single-center, double-blind, randomized controlled trial conducted on 120 children who required restorative treatment without the use of local anesthesia. The participants were selected based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and were randomly divided into 3 groups: group 1 - tell-show-do technique; group 2 - modeling technique; group 3 - yogic relaxation technique. The dental anxiety levels were evaluated 4 times using both physiological (oxygen saturation and pulse rate) and behavioral parameters (facial image scale (FIS) and the Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, and Consolability scale (FLACC)). The data was assessed by 2 blinded and calibrated specialists. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in all 4 parameters among the 3 groups. During both the intraoperative and postoperative periods, the oxygen saturation levels were significantly higher in the yogic relaxation technique group. Moreover, the yogic relaxation technique group exhibited lower pulse rates, FIS and FLACC scores compared to the tell-show-do and modeling technique groups. Conclusions: The practice of yoga has a positive influence on the general health of the individual. Consequently, it can be considered one of the alternative behavioral modification techniques for the reduction of dental anxiety in children.

Abstract:IntroductionA prospective randomised double-blind study was undertaken to compare the effects of intra-space injection of ‘Twin mix’ versus intraoral-submucosal, intramuscular, intravenous and per-oral administration of dexamethasone on post-operative sequelae after mandibular impacted third molar surgery.Material and methodsA randomised double-blind clinical trial was conducted on 60 patients with class II position B impaction of mandibular third molars. Sixty transalveolar extractions were performed prospectively with ten patients randomly allocated to each of the six study groups (group T: intra-space injection of Twin mix; group S: submucosal dexamethasone; group M: intramuscular dexamethasone; group V: intravenous dexamethasone; group O: per-oral dexamethasone; group C: control group, no dexamethasone). A ten-point visual analogue scale was used to assess the overall pain intensity/patient discomfort, and specific facial measurements were recorded to assess the post-operative facial swelling. Maximal mouth opening was compared pre and post-operatively to assess the trismus.ResultsMean operative visual analogue scale scores did not show statistical variation, and post-operative visual scores indicated better patient comfort in the steroid groups with statistically significant difference between group T and the control group on the first, third and the seventh post-operative day. Mean increase in distances between tragus and soft tissue menton to assess facial swelling showed strong statistically significant difference between the first and the third post-operative day between the control group and group T (p value <0.0001). Association of trismus was found less with the steroid treatment groups when compared to the control group.ConclusionSteroid groups had a better clinical outcome with improved quality of life post-operatively when compared to the nonsteroid study group. Intra-space injection of dexamethasone in pterigomandibular space as Twin mix was found to have similar clinical effects as conventional methods of administering steroids via intraoral-submucosal, intramuscular, intravenous and per-oral routes. This, however, is a small study which would now benefit from larger numbers.

Abstract:ObjectivesThe present systematic review aimed to evaluate whether the IANB (conventional inferior alveolar nerve block) technique is superior to the VA (Vazirani-Akinosi) or GG (Gow-Gates) techniques for anesthesia in the removal of posterior mandibular teeth.Materials and methodsThis systematic review was structured according to the PICO strategy, adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) checklist, and was recorded on the international prospective register of systematic reviews (PROSPERO—CRD42020153130). Studies were included based on the eligibility criteria and data from the included studies were collected by one author, while another reviewed the compilation.ResultsEight studies were included, all of which were randomized controlled trials. Three studies tested the techniques by exclusively performing lower third molar removal; the others covered other posterior lower teeth. All studies used the same local anesthetic and the same vasoconstrictor: lidocaine 2% with epinephrine/adrenaline. A total of 1056 patients were evaluated.ConclusionsSome differences were observed between the techniques. Because of the heterogeneity between studies, clinical trials with more specific methodologies, such as comparisons of GG and VA with IANB for mandibular tooth removal, and the same clinical homogeneity will be worthwhile.Clinical relevanceA systematic review of which anesthetic technique is most effective for mandibular teeth removal may positively impact the population’s life. There are no systematic reviews which approach this theme in a well-structured perspective.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Dysregulated expression of several KLK family members has been observed in colorectal adenocarcinoma. In the present study, the prognostic value of KLK11 mRNA expression as a molecular tissue biomarker in colorectal adenocarcinoma was examined. MATERIALS & METHODS Using quantitative real-time PCR, KLK11 mRNA expression was studied in 120 cancerous and 41 paired noncancerous colorectal specimens obtained from 120 patients with primary colorectal adenocarcinoma. RESULTS A significant upregulation of KLK11 transcripts in colorectal tumors was observed. KLK11 mRNA expression was associated with the depth of tumor invasion and the histological grade. Furthermore, KLK11 mRNA expression predicted poor disease-free and overall survival, independently of patient gender, age, tumor size, location, histological subtype, grade, venous invasion, lymphatic invasion, TNM stage, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment. CONCLUSION KLK11 mRNA expression could be considered as a new molecular prognostic biomarker in colorectal adenocarcinoma, with additional prognostic value in patients with highly invasive tumors and/or positive lymph nodes.
Comparative Evaluation of the Efficacy of Virtual Reality Distraction, Audio Distraction and Tell-show-do Techniques in Reducing the Anxiety Level of Pediatric Dental Patients: An In Vivo Study

Abstract:Objectives and methods: Children, in the age-group of 6 to 8 years, with moderate level of anxiety, (measured with M-DAS), requiring inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) for mandibular tooth extraction were selected. Informed consent was obtained from parents. Selected children were allocated randomly into 3 groups virtual reality (VR) distraction group, audio distraction group and Tell-show-do (TSD) group. Pre- and post- distraction anxiety level of children was measured subjectively with facial image scale and objectively with pulse rate and oxygen saturation (measured with pulse oxymeter).Results: There was a statistically significant decrease in pulse rate after distraction (with a p < 0.01) in all the three groups. Postdistraction pulse rate was lowest in the VR distraction group when compared to other groups. While comparing postdistraction pulse rate values in the three groups, the difference in pulse rate between TSD and VR distraction group was significant. But while comparing the pulse rate between audio distraction and TSD group (p = 0.06), and audio distraction and VR distraction group (p = 0.24) was not statistically significant. Oxygen saturation increased in all the three groups which was statistically significant (p < 0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in the postdistraction oxygen (O2) saturation levels between TSD and audio distraction groups (p < 0.05) with more O2 saturation in audio distraction group. But while comparing the audio distraction with VR group and TSD with VR group, the difference was not significant. Facial image scale (FIS) scores decreased in all the three groups (p < 0.01).Conclusion: The overall results revealed by all the parameters indicate that children were most relaxed in VR group, followed by audio group and were least relaxed in TSD group during dental visits. Abstract:BACKGROUND: Dental education is considered as a complex, challenging and often stressful educational procedure. Acquisition of psychomotor skills by undergraduate students is an important step in many health professions to become a successful professional. During under graduation, class II cavity preparation exercise is of utmost important in dentistry. OBJECTIVE: To compare class II cavities prepared by students after hands-on live demonstration and pre-recorded video demonstration using well-organised evaluation rubrics. METHOD: Preclinical dental students (n= 50) were divided into two groups. The students in group I (n= 25) attended a hands-on live demonstration performed by one faculty while students in group II (n= 25) watched a 15-minute pre-recorded procedural video on the projector. Both groups were appealed to prepare class II cavity for amalgam involving disto-occlusal surface of mandibular second molar articulated on jaw model (TRU LON study model, Jayna industries, Ghaziabad U.P., India). Following completion of the preparations, all teeth were collected, and labelled grades of prepared cavities were given according to prespecified rubrics. The data of scores were presented as means and standard deviation. Statistical analysis of data was executed using SPSS software. A paired t-test was used to compare scores between groups. RESULTS: The study shows that the video-supported demonstration of a cavity preparation was better than the live hands-on demonstration. A higher mean response for the procedural video group was found compared to the live demonstration group (p= 0.000133). CONCLUSION: Pre-recorded video-supported demonstration along with guidance by a tutor may be a viable alternative to hands-on live demonstration in cavity preparation procedures during undergraduate dental training. Moreover, rubric methods can be implemented in the teaching of various preclinical exercises for conservative dentistry and endodontics.

Abstract:Dental anxiety, linked to avoiding dental treatment and heightened medical and surgical risks, prompted this systematic review. The objective is to synthesize existing evidence on conscious sedation techniques employed for managing dental anxiety in patients scheduled for third molar extraction surgery, aiming to identify optimal approaches and address knowledge gaps. This systematic review followed the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses" checklist and the population, investigation, comparation, outcome framework. The protocol still needs to be registered. A thorough search was conducted, incorporating MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, SCOPUS, clinicaltrials.gov, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews until February 2024. Only randomized controlled trials were considered, following "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses" guidelines. The risk of bias was evaluated following the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. Eighteen randomized controlled trials involving 2081 patients were included. Certain factors limited the feasibility of a meaningful meta-analysis, leading to a narrative synthesis. Conscious sedation with virtual reality showed an association with improved dental anxiety in 4 studies. One study reported reduced cortisol levels with midazolam compared with a placebo, whereas another noted significant variations in perioperative renin levels with remifentanil versus placebo. This review reveals inconclusive and conflicting findings regarding the role of conscious sedation in managing dental anxiety during third molar extraction surgery. Persistent uncertainties arise due to a need for consistent, standardized outcome measures. Addressing these limitations in study design is crucial for future research.
Sedative and Behavioral Effects of Intranasal Midazolam in Comparison with Other Administrative Routes in Children Undergoing Dental Treatment - A Systematic Review

Abstract:Aim: The aim of this study was to systematically identify and evaluate the available literature on the effectiveness of intranasal midazolam sedation compared with midazolam administered through other routes in the sedation and behavior management of children during dental treatment. Materials and methods: The search was done using electronic databases such as PubMed Central, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, LILACS, ScienceDirect, and SIGLE. All studies comparing the sedative effect and behavior management effectiveness of intranasal midazolam with midazolam administered through other routes in children were included. Results: Electronic database search identified 163 articles, out of which 143 were excluded after reading titles and removing duplication. The remaining 20 studies were evaluated in detail. A final of 13 studies were included based on the inclusion criteria. Among the 13 studies included in the present review, a high risk of bias was noted in all the 13 articles. There was no adequate blinding of personnel and participants in the study, allocation concealment was improper and presence of inadequate blinding of the outcome assessment. . Statistically, no significant difference was observed between intranasal midazolam and other midazolam routes on behavior and sedation level in the studies included in this review. Conclusion: Limited studies are available pertaining to the sedative and behavioral effects of intranasal midazolam, and thus, this review recommends need for more research evaluating the sedative effect of intranasal midazolam in comparison with midazolam administered through other routes in the behavior management of children during dental treatment.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: This study evaluated the efficacy of virtual reality (VR) distraction and counter-stimulation (CS) on dental anxiety and pain perception to local anesthesia in children.METHODS: A prospective, randomized, single-blinded interventional clinical trial with a parallel design was used. Seventy children 7-11 years old who required local anesthesia (LA) for pulp therapy or tooth extraction were recruited and allocated to two groups with equal distribution based on the intervention. Group CS (n = 35) received CS and Group VR (n = 35) received VR distraction with ANTVR glasses. Anxiety levels (using pulse rate) were evaluated before, during, and after administration of local anesthesia, while pain perception was assessed immediately after the injection. Wong-Baker faces pain-rating scale (WBFPS), visual analog scale (VAS), and Venham's clinical anxiety rating scale (VCARS) were used for pain evaluation. Student's t-test was used to test the mean difference between groups, and repeated measures ANOVA was used to test the mean difference of pulse rates.RESULTS: Significant differences in mean pulse rates were observed in both groups, while children in the VR group had a higher reduction (P < 0.05), and the mean VCARS scores were significant in the VR group (P < 0.05). Mean WBFPS scores showed less pain perception to LA needle prick in the CS group while the same change was observed in the VR group with VAS scores.CONCLUSIONS: VR distraction is better than CS for reducing anxiety to injection in children undergoing extraction and pulpectomy.

Abstract:Background: The dreaded sensation of pain in the dental chair has a significant impact on children’s behavior. This study aimed to compare and contrast the perception of pain and patient behavior between the use of INJEX and the conventional syringe needle technique during pulpotomy among children. Methods: A randomized clinical trial was designed and conducted among pediatric dentistry patients aged 6–12 years old. Fifty-eight children were divided into two groups, conventional syringe needle and INJEX, using simple randomization method applying the sequentially numbered, opaque, sealed envelope method of allocation concealment. Anesthesia was administered to the groups as local infiltration by a single operator following routine behavior guidance techniques. After 3 min, pulpotomy was performed using the standard protocol. The Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (FLACC) scale and Wong–Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale (WBS) were used to assess the intensity of pain, while the Frankl behavior rating scale (FBRS) was used to assess the children’s behavior. Results: During anesthesia, most of the participants in the INJEX group (median = 3) had higher FBRS scores compared with the conventional syringe needle group (median = 2), and the difference was very highly significant (p-value < 0.001). Analyzing the FLACC scores during local anesthesia administration revealed a high statistical significance (p-value < 0.01) across the two groups. A very high statistically significant difference (p-values < 0.001) with higher WBS scores for pain intensity was seen in the group using conventional syringe needles. Conclusions: INJEX administration significantly reduced the intensity of pain experienced by the children and helped maintain a positive attitude among them during pulpotomy. It provided a positive and comfortable experience for both the child and the practitioner. Therefore, it can serve as an excellent alternative to conventional needle anesthesia.

Abstract:Background and objectives Developing manual skills is important in dental education. Clinical skills can be taught via clinical demonstrations, and knowledge can be delivered through lectures. Performing dental restorations is an essential skill for dentists, which requires a comprehensive knowledge of the manipulation of the restorative materials. The present study sought to compare the effectiveness of flipped learning (FL), smart class (SC), and traditional teaching (TT) methods in two arenas of learning: acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skill in manipulating dental restorative cement. Materials and methods All first-year undergraduate dental students (n = 60) were divided into three study groups and exposed to three teaching methods, namely TT, SC, and FL of three different dental restorative cements. Each teaching method was followed by an evaluation of the "knowledge assessment score," a live demonstration of the cement manipulation, and the participants' "skill assessment score." Descriptive statistics were expressed as mean and SD for continuous variables. A comparison of the knowledge assessment scores and skill assessment scores between the study groups was analyzed using a one-way ANOVA test. Intergroup comparison was done using Tukey's post hoc test. Results The FL group had a significantly higher "knowledge assessment score" (p = 0.001), while there was no significant difference between the SC and TT groups (p = 1.0). Both FL and SC groups had significantly higher "skill assessment scores" (p = 0.001), with no significant difference between them (p = 0.798). Conclusions Of the three teaching methods assessed, FL proved to be more effective in the knowledge acquired and clinical competence demonstrated when compared to the other two techniques in dental education.
