Abstract:Herein, we present a simple electrochemical tetracycline (TET) aptasensor with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) modification. MWCNTs were dropped on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to immobilize the anti-TET aptamer and to construct the aptasensor. The stepwise assembly process of the aptasensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry. Results demonstrated that the peak currents of Fe(CN)63−/Fe(CN)64− redox pair decreased due to the formation of anti-TET/TET complexes on the modified electrode. The optimization of the loading amount of MWCNTs, the incubating conditions of aptamer and the detection time of TET were investigated in details. Under optimal conditions, the peak currents change obtained by DPV increased linearly with the increasing TET concentrations in the range from 1×10−8M to 5×10−5M with a linear coefficiency of 0.995. This electrochemical aptasensor has a detection limit of 5×10−9M and was successfully applied to the determination of TET in spiked milk samples.

Abstract:The persistent, formidable sterilizing efficacy of Chloramphenicol (CAP) continues to promote its illicit use in the fields of aquaculture and animal husbandry, notwithstanding rigorous bans. In an effort to substantially reduce the adverse effects arising from CAP residues, an inexpensive and straightforward terahertz (THz) immunosensing platform that exploiting the nanoscale Au film metamaterial (AuF MM) coupled with an immunocompetitive assay. Small molecules of CAP-BSA anchor to the silicon-based AuF MM solid-phase substrate through hydrophobic interactions. Subsequently, these molecules and CAP standards participate in a competitive binding with colloidal gold (AuNPs) labeled-CAP monoclonal antibodies (mAb). The resulting change in spectral transmittance, caused by the THz waves’ interaction with the refractive index response elicited by both the gold particles and the formed complexes on the AuF MM surface, is exploited for the qualitative assessment of CAP residues in milk. The heightened transmission of THz waves diminishes interference from the milk matrix, achieving satisfactory detection limits as low as 5 pg/mL. This demonstrates that we have effectively developed a straightforward yet efficacious strategy for THz detection that is both sensitive and specific. This strategy is anticipated to furnish a novel analytical method for the identification of proscribed molecules or deleterious viruses in foodstuffs and agricultural commodities.
Effective Electrochemical Determination of Chloramphenicol and Florfenicol Based on Graphene/Copper Phthalocyanine Nanocomposites Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

Abstract:In this paper, a highly effective electrochemical sensor based on graphene (Gr)/copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) nanocomposites was successfully designed and achieved. The morphology of Gr/CuPc nanocomposites was characterized by UV-vis, IR, Raman spectra and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Gr/CuPc nanocomposites were gathered on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode (GCE), and the performence of Gr/CuPc/GCE toward chloramphenicol (CAP) and florfenicol (FF) was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The Gr/CuPc/GCE presented good electrochemical properties, stability, reproducibility, excellent anti-interference ability and satisfying recovery rate in real samples for the detection of CAP and FF. The performance of Gr/CuPc/GCE exhibited a linear ranging from 1.0 x 10(-7) to 2.0 x 10(-5) M with a detection limit of 2.7 x 10(-8) M (-0.652 V vs. Hg/Hg2Cl2, S/N = 3) toward CAP. For FF, it exhibited a linear ranging from 1.0 x 10(-6) to 3.0 x 10(-5) M with a detection limit of 7.5 x 10(-7) M (-0.863 V vs. Hg/Hg2Cl2, S/N = 3). Furthermore, it is for the first time that FF is determined by electrochemical sensor through nanocomposites modified electrode. Abstract:Chloramphenicol (CAP) is an antibiotic that is used to treat a range of human ailments and is also utilized in animal medicine. However, long-term usage of CAP can have substantial side effects in humans. Hence, precise and sensitive analytical approaches for CAP detection are required. We developed an electrochemical sensor based on a ZnO/MWCNT nanocomposite for the efficient measurement of chloramphenicol (CAP) in this study. Aqueous leaf extract of Rhoeo discolor ( Tradescantia spathacea ) was employed in the green production of ZnO nanoparticles. A simple sonochemical approach was used to combine ZnO nanoparticles with MWCNT. UV–Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), elemental mapping, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) have been utilized to describe the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles. The electrochemical performance of the ZnO/MWCNT/graphite electrode was studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The effect of loading mass, pH, and scan rate on electrode reaction was also determined. The ZnO/MWCNT/graphite electrode has a linear response in the range of 1 to 250 μM, a high sensitivity of 11.15 μA μM −1 cm −2 , with a LOD of 0.35 μM and LOQ of 1.16 μM. It also has good reproducibility and stability. Real samples like honey and milk were used to illustrate the sensor's viability.

Abstract:A novel hybrid nanocomposite based on de-layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) by ionic-liquid (IL, [BMIM]BF4)-assisted exfoliation and graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized via a green, efficient, and high-quality method, which combined liquid-phase stripping method and ion-insertion method. In addition, an electrochemical sensor was developed using the MoS2-IL/GO nanocomposites for the determination of chloramphenicol (CAP). The morphology and structure of these synthetic materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction and the electrochemical characterization by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Based on this method, the insertion of IL can effectively exfoliate de-layered MoS2, and the MoS2-IL/GO nanocomposite exhibit 3D structure with higher surface area, excellent electrical conductivity, and synergistic catalytic capabilities. Under optimized conditions, the sensor responded linearly to CAP ranging from 0.1 to 400 µmol L−1 and the detection limit of 0.047 µmol L−1. In addition, the sensor showed excellent stability, repeatability, reproducibility, and selectivity, and has been applied to detect CAP in eyedrops, milk, and urine samples.
Mesoporous Carbon Nanospheres Doped with Rich Non-Metallic and Metallic Catalytic Active Sites: A High-Performance Electrochemical Platform for Sensing of Chloramphenicol in Food Samples

Abstract:The development of a low-cost, accurate sensing strategy for trace levels of chloramphenicol (CAP) residues in food is crucial but remains challenging. In this study, a high-performance electrochemical platform was developed to detect CAP in animal-derived foods using Ni2P embedded N, P-co-doped mesoporous carbon nanospheres (Ni2P@N,P-MCS). The Ni2P@N,P-MCS material, with a unique mesoporous structure and large specific surface area, exhibited excellent adsorption properties. The N, P-co-doped heteroatoms enhanced the electric conductivity and active centers of MCS, facilitating fast mass transport and electron transfer. The introduction of Ni2P increased the active sites and enhanced the electrocatalytic activity. Leveraging these advantages, the electrochemical sensor based on Ni2P@N,P-MCS demonstrated outstanding detection performance with a wide linear range from 0.04 to 250 mu M and a low limit of detection of 12 nM. The sensor also showed good reproducibility, stability, and anti-interference properties. Furthermore, the sensor was successfully tested in milk and pork samples, showing satisfactory recovery rates and indicating its feasibility for real sample analysis.
MoS2_CNTs_aerogel-based PEDOT nanocomposite electrochemical sensor for simultaneous detection of chloramphenicol and furazolidone in food samples

Abstract:Toxic intermediates in food caused by chloramphenicol (CP) and furazolidone (FZ) have gained interest in research toward their detection. Hence, fast, reliable, and accurate detection of CP and FZ in food products is of utmost importance. Here, a novel molybdenum disulfide-connected carbon nanotube aerogel/poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) [MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT] nanocomposite materials are constructed and deposited on the pretreated carbon paste electrode (PCPE) by a facile eletropolymerization method. The characterization of MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry. The modified MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite has improved sensing characteristics for detecting CP and FZ in PBS solution. For this work, we have studied various parameters like electrocatalytic activity, the effect of scan rates, pH variation studies, and concentration variation studies. Under optimum conditions, the modified electrode exhibited superior sensing ability compared to the bare and pretreated CPE. This improvement in electrocatalytic activity can be the higher conductivity, larger surface area, increased heterogeneous rate constant, and presence of more active sites in the MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite. The modified electrode demonstrated distinct electrochemical sensing toward the individual and simultaneous analysis of CP and FZ with a high sensitivity of 0.701 µA. µM-1 .cm-2 for CP and 0.787 µA. µM-1 .cm-2 for FZ and a low detection limit of 3.74 nM for CP and 3.83 nM for FZ with good reproducibility, repeatability, and interferences. Additionally, the prepared sensor effectively detects CP and FZ in food samples (honey and milk) with an acceptable recovery range and a relative standard deviation below 4%.
A sensitive enzyme-free electrochemical sensor based on ZnWO4@co-MNPC@MIP for specific recognition and determination of chloramphenicol in milk sample

Abstract:We have carefully built a new chloramphenicol (CAP) electrochemical sensor, which takes the zinc tungstate @ cobalt magnetic nanoporous carbon @ molecularly imprinted polymer (ZnWO4@Co-MNPC@MIP) as the core. First, we successfully prepared Co-MNPC nanomaterials using an efficient one-step hydrothermal method and a direct carbonization method. Next, we recombined ZnWO4 with Co-MNPC and synthesized the completely new ZnWO4@Co-MNPC complex by using the hydrothermal method. To further improve its performance, we combined ZnWO4@Co-MNPC with a molecular imprinted polymer and coated a molecular imprinted (MIP) shell on the surface of ZnWO4@Co-MNPC by precipitation polymerization. This shell not only gives the sensor a new performance but also gives it a stronger peak current, resulting in a more accurate detection of CAP. Under optimal conditions, the ZnWO4@Co-MNPC@MIP (MMIP) electrode has a stronger CAP detection peak current than the one-component electrode, with a fairly wide linear range: 0.007-200 μM and 200-1400 μM. Even more surprisingly, the detection limit is as low as 0.0027 μM, which allows the sensor to maintain excellent selectivity and stability in the face of various interferences, making it an excellent electrochemically modified electrode. Compared to magnetic non-molecular imprint sensors (MNIPs), MMIP sensors have higher detection efficiency. After practical application, we found that the ZnWO4@Co-MNPC@MIP modified electrode was satisfactory in milk samples.
Electrochemical Determination of Chloramphenicol in Milk and Honey Using Vertically Ordered Silica Mesochannels and Surfactant Micelles As the Extraction and Anti-Fouling Element

Abstract:Chloramphenicol (CAP), an antibiotic, is closely related to the food safety, ecological environment and human health. It is therefore of great importance to develop simple and rapid methods for CAP determination. We report in this work the utilization of indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes modified with a binary assembly of vertical silica mesochannels (VSMs) and cylindrical surfactant micelles (CSMs) for the electrochemical detection of CAP. Each hard VSM of 2-3 nm in diameter supports and confines a soft CSM of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), which has a hydrocarbon core capable of extracting and concentrating lipophilic organic analytes from sample solutions. So the CSM@VSM modified electrode exhibited an analytical performance for CAP apparently superior to bare and VSM modified electrodes. Under optimized conditions, two linear dynamic concentration ranges were obtained for CAP determination using differential pulse voltammetty, namely 0.1 to 3.6 ppm and 3.6 to 15.0 ppm, as well as a low limit of detection at 40 ppb. Moreover, thanks to the ultrasmall size of silica channels and the lipophilic microenvironment of micelle cores, the CSM@VSM film displayed an excellent hydrophobic selectivity and anti-fouling ability by preventing unwanted substances from accessing to and contaminating the underlying electrode surface. Therefore, reliable results were obtained for direct electrochemical determination of CAP in real samples, such as milk and honey, without pre-treatment. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Cubic MnSe2 Nanoparticles Dispersed on Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes: A Robust Electrochemical Sensing Platform for Chloramphenicol

Abstract:In this work, cubic MnSe2 nanoparticles were firstly synthesized through a simple one-step hydrothermal procedure at low temperature using N2H4 center dot H2O as a reductant as well as MnCl2 and Se powders as precursors. The crystalline structure, morphology, chemical composition, and element valence states of the synthesized samples were specifically investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), and Raman spectroscopy. It was found that the MnSe2 product mainly exists in a roughly cubic morphology with the sizes between 20 and 50 nm. In order to alleviate the aggregation, cubic MnSe2 nanoparticles were further ultrasonically dispersed on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to achieve an improved stability structure denoted as MnSe2/MWCNTs. Compared with the single components, the MnSe2/MWCNTs composite displays enhanced electrochemical sensing signals for chloramphenicol (CAP) derived from the synergistic catalytic performance of the corresponding components. After optimization of electrochemical assay parameters, an assay range of 8.00-5000.00 mu M and a limit of detection (LOD) with 2.00 mu M for CAP were obtained using the MnSe2/MWCNTs-based sensor. Finally, the application of the resulting sensor for CAP detection in food and biological fluids was evaluated with recoveries between 94.70 and 106.70 %, demonstrating that MnSe2/ MWCNTs could be served as a preeminent sensing platform. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the fabrication of MnSe2-based composite for electrochemical sensing applications.

Abstract:Making the nanocomposites of metal oxides or metal sulfides with carbon source materials has a huge impact on the electrochemical determination of toxic chemicals. To determine the adverse side effects of the antibiotics, electrochemical sensors have been used as they can peek into the sensitivity of the drug sample. This work has done the sensitive amperometric evaluation of a chloramphenicol antibiotic by modifying the electrode of tungsten disulfide decorated boron carbide. Here, tungsten disulfide (WS 2 ) nanosheets and boron carbide (B 4 C) materials were synthesized by conventional methods which give a good amount of yield. The composite was prepared by the green and cost-effective sonochemical approach with good morphology. The conductivity of the nanocomposite and the response to chloramphenicol were determined by cyclic voltammetry. The sensitivity, limit of detection (LOD), and the linear range were observed by the highly sensitive amperometric technique. From the amperometric analysis, the prepared nanocomposite shows nominal LOD as a 17.4 nM, a broad linear range (0.025–1134.6 μM), and good sensitivity of 1.52 μA μM −1 cm −2 . Practicability of the modified sensor was studied in food and pharmaceutical samples with adequate recovery performances. Moreover, the modified electrode shows good stability, repeatability, reproducibility, and anti-interfering properties against the array of food and biological interferences.

Synthesis of an iron-nitrogen co-doped ordered mesoporous carbon-silicon nanocomposite as an enhanced electrochemical sensor for sensitive and selective determination of chloramphenicol

Abstract:In this study, we developed a sensitive electrochemical sensor for the detection of chloramphenicol (CAP). An iron-nitrogen co-doped ordered mesoporous carbon-silicon nanocomposite (Si-Fe/NOMC) was prepared as follows. First, an SBA-15 surface was treated with an iron and nitrogen co-doped carbon framework obtained from the polymerization of ethylenediamine and carbon tetrachloride via the hard templating method. The mixture was then carbonized at a high temperature (900℃). Finally, the Si-Fe/NOMC modified electrode was fabricated, and employed as a high-performance electrochemical sensor to trace the CAP in drug samples using the large surface area of the hetero-atoms iron, nitrogen and silicon co-doped in the porous structure. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry tests were determine to assess the efficiency of the sensor. Under optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited rapid current response for CAP in a phosphate buffer solution PBS with pH 7.5. The linear concentration of CAP ranged from 1 μM to 500 μM, with a limit of detection of 0.03 μM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, the electrochemical sensor was used to detect CAP in eye drop samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract:Chloramphenicol (CAP), a broad-spectrum antibiotic, has severely impacted human health and the ecological environment, which brings an increasing demand for an efficient monitoring technology for rapid and sensitive antibiotic residue detection. Herein, a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor was developed for detecting CAP, based on the synergistic effect of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and CuO-nanomaterials modifying glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis were used for morphological characterization. β-CD/CuO/GCE sensor with high-specific surface area and cavity structure was prepared by modifying GCE for further electrochemical testing. Experimental parameters were optimized using square wave stripping voltammetry. The developed sensor obtains an ultra-wide linear range from 1.0 × 10−7 to 5.0 × 10−4 mol l−1and the limit of detection is 0.5 × 10−7 mol l−1. The sensor displays high sensitivity, remarkable stability, and reproducibility; particularly more convenient than the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) verification method. Furthermore, the applicability of the developed β-CD/CuO/GCE sensor was demonstrated by detecting CAP in food samples.

MOF-derived Co2CuS4 nanoparticles with gold-decorated reduced graphene oxide for electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol in real samples

Abstract:Despite the beneficial effects of antibiotics such as chloramphenicol (CAP), they exert some destructive impacts on human health. We designed an electrochemical sensor based on reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/Au/Co2CuS4 nanohybrid for determination of CAP in food and biological samples. The Co2CuS4 was synthesized from binuclear metal-organic framework (CoCu-BDC) through a two-step process. Nanohybrid was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The rGO/Au/Co2CuS4 provides more active sites and good electrical conductivity to reduce charge transfer resistance and improve the electrocatalytic activity for determination of CAP. The prepared sensor has a wide linear range from 7 to 141 nM with a limit of detection of 2.5 nM and a limit of quantification of 21.92 nM. It also provided high selectivity and repeatability with a relative standard deviation of 2.6%. Stability studies showed that the electrode has acceptable performance with efficiency of 95% after 33 days.
A Novel Electrochemical Sensor for Chloramphenicol Based on MXenes and Carbon Nanofiber from Bacterial Cellulose

Abstract:Three-dimensional porous MXene/carbon nanofiber (CNF) nanocomposites were prepared by assembling environmentally-friendly and inexpensive bacterial cellulose (BC) gel sheets as a carbon source with novel two-dimensional MXenes nanoplate clusters and pyrolyzing the composite. The structure, morphology, and electrochemical properties of MXene/CNF was characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and electrochemical techniques. The experimental results revealed that the MXene/CNF nanocomposites had excellent electrical conductivity, large specific surface area, abundant active sites, and excellent electrochemical properties. The sensitive electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol (CAP) was achieved by constructing an electrochemical sensor using the MXene/CNF composite. The response current values of the MXene/CNF sensor exhibited a good linear response with CAP concentration ranging from 0.03–25 μM, with a low detection limit of 9 nM. In addition, the sensor demonstrated good repeatability and reproducibility with relative standard deviations of 2.94 and 3.29%, respectively. Abstract:Recently, there has been significant interest in the utilization of indium-doped cadmium sulfide (CdS) for the detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) in food samples due to its exceptional performance. The objective of this research is to develop a simple, rapid, and highly sensitive sensor for CAP detection. CdS possesses remarkable characteristics as a semiconductor material, including a large specific surface area, abundant pore structure, and excellent electrical conductivity. The electrochemical properties of glassy carbon electrodes (GCE) were comprehensively investigated both in their pristine state and when modified with CdS/GCE, CdIn2S4/GCE, Cd1.5In2S4.5/GCE, and Cd2In2S5/GCE. The surface areas of the modified electrodes CdIn2S4/GCE, Cd1.5In2S4.5/GCE, and Cd2In2S5/GCE were measured to be 0.08 cm2, 0.097 cm2, and 0.25 cm2, respectively. Five replicate samples using the optimized proportioned electrode Cd2In2S5/GCE resulted in a response error below 5%. These results indicate that the composite demonstrates exceptional conductivity and reproducibility while maintaining satisfactory sensitivity and high specificity. The proposed sensor based on Cd2In2S5/GCE exhibited an impressive dynamic linear range from 10 nmol/L to 20 μmol/L with an exceptionally low detection limit of 3.8 nmol/L and remarkable sensitivity of 0.38 μA μm−1 cm−2. This sensor successfully quantified CAP in water samples with a satisfactory recovery rate ranging from 99.5% to 100.3%, accompanied by an RSD below 7.6%. Consequently,this developed electrochemical sensor presents itself as the optimal choice for simultaneous determination of CAP in both food and water samples.

Abstract:Quantitative detection of veterinary drug residues in animal-derived food is of great significance. In this work, a simple and label-free electrochemical aptasensor for the highly sensitive detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) in milk was successfully developed based on a new biosensing method, where the single- or few-layer Ti3C2 MXene nanosheets functionalized via the specific aptamer by self-assembly were used as electrode modifiers for a glassy carbon electrode (aptamer/Ti3C2 MXene/GCE). Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), and so on were utilized for electrochemical and morphological characterization. Under the optimized conditions, the constructed aptasensor exhibited excellent performance with a wider linearity to CAP in the range from 10 fM to 1 μM and a low detection limit of 1 fM. Aptamer/Ti3C2 MXene/GCE demonstrated remarkable selectivity over other potentially interfering antibiotics, as well as exceptional reproducibility and stability. In addition, the aptasensor was successfully applied to determine CAP in milk with acceptable recovery values of 96.13% to 108.15% and relative standard deviations below 9%. Therefore, the proposed electrochemical aptasensor is an excellent alternative for determining CAP in food samples.

Abstract:Antibiotic drugs are comprehensively used in treating infectious animals, mainly food-producing animals, which may severely affect other living organisms. Hence, it is necessary to develop a device to monitor trace level of these drug in food samples by a sensitive method. Carbon nanomaterials are usually fabricated as a disposable electrode in an electrochemical sensing application; however, its hydrophobicity nature causes poor electrode stability. An effective strategy is followed in this study to improve the aqueous dispersion of vapor-grown carbon fiber (VGCF) materials through the bio-inspired polydopamine (PDA) functionalization approach. The PDA functionalized VGCF (PDA-VGCF) is significantly characterized by spectroscopic and microscopic methods. The improved hydrophilicity of PDA-VGCF composite materials can offer an easy way to prepare catalyst slurry for the coating of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and used to determine the chloramphenicol (CAP) antibiotic drug. Interestingly, cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry studies are performed to observe the electrocatalysis of CAP using PDA-VGCF/GCE, displays a good linear response range (0.01–142 µM), lower detection limit (3 nM), and higher sensitivity (0.68 µAµM−1 cm−2) with long-time stability up to 30 days. Furthermore, PDA-VGCF/GCE shows an admirable selectivity while existing with other interference compounds and practical feasibility are also evaluated in apple juice, milk, and honey samples.

Abstract:In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were first coated on the surface of glassy carbon electrode (GCE), and then, the copper nanodendrites (CuNDs) were synthesized on the surface of MWCNTs/GCE by electrodeposition. Afterward, the CuNDs/MWCNTs/GCE was prepared. The electrochemical performance of CuNDs/MWCNTs/GCE was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The preparation conditions of CuNDs/MWCNTs/GCE and the detection conditions of chloramphenicol (CAP) were optimized. The linear range by LSV was 0.15 to 12.0 μmol/L, and the detection limit (S/N = 3) was 9.84 nmol/L in pH = 7.0 KH2PO4-Na2HPO4 buffer solution under the accumulation potential of − 0.4 V (vs. SCE) and accumulation time of 600 s. The modified electrode was applied in the determination of CAP in environmental water samples. The recoveries were between 95.78 and 102.67%, indicating that CuNDs/MWCNTs/GCE was suitable for the determination of CAP in environmental water samples.

Abstract:This study demonstrates the green, rapid and simple synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by employing bio-flavonoid (quercetin), which acts as a stabilizing and reducing agent. The nanoparticles were prepared by a simple one pot method. AgNPs were characterized by using various characterization techniques like High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–visible), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS). Later on, these nanoparticles were further used to construct the electrochemical sensing electrode and also for the precise and sensitive determination of chloramphenicol (CAP) antibiotic using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The fabricated sensor exhibits outstanding electrochemical performance, with a linear response for CAP concentrations between 0 μM to 80 μM and a limit of detection (LOD) of 265.6 nM. Further, the present sensor displayed impressive selectivity, reproducibility and high sensitivity. The designed sensor was deployed for the detection of CAP in real samples (water, milk and honey) to demonstrate its ability to perform real-time analysis with a satisfactory recovery rate. The results of real sample analysis using LSV were compared with the standard method (HPLC) and found comparable. Hence, the developed electrochemical sensor displayed great potential for detecting CAP in real samples with desirable recovery rates.
