Abstract:The response surface methodology(Box-Benhnken Design) was applied to investigate the four major factors(the concentration of soybean cake powder and maize powder used in medium,the volume of glycerol addition added to the medium,loading volume of liquid medium,initial pH value of medium) that have importent effect on the production of chlamydospores of Trichoderma asperellum ZJSX5003.By variance analysis on the experiment results,the influences of the the four factors and their interactions on the production of chlamydospores was investigated.By performing regression analysis and establishing regression equation based on statistics,the optimal fermentation condition was obtained,that as follow:the concentration of soybean cake powder and maize powder used in medium 33.25 g /L,glycerol 8.86ml/L,each 500ml bottles contains 99.35 ml liquid medium,initial pH 3.26.Under the optimal conditions,the yield of chlamydospore is expected to be 9.56×10~7 spores/ml,theoretically.The practical yield of chlamydospores approached 9.84×10~7spores/ml,reached97.07%of the expected value,increased by 69.07%compared with pre-optimization.In order to test its applicability,used a 10L fermentation tank under the optimal condition,the yield of chlamydospore reached up to1.75×10~8 spores/ml,which is better than shake flask fermentation.Further researches of developing microbial inoculum of Trichoderma chlamydospore could be conducted base on this research.

Abstract:Fermentation medium and culture conditions to improve the spore concentration and antifungal activity of Brevibacillus brevis ch2-22 at the condition in shaking-flask were optimized. Firstly,based on single factor experiment the ferment medium for B. brevis ch-22 was optimized by response surface methodology,then confirmed the optimized ferment conditions with single factor experiment,obtained the optimized ferment medium was as followed,starch 35. 05 g/ L,soybean powder 26. 08 g/ L,sucrose 10 g/ L,fish meal 5 g/ L,NaCl 1 g/ L,MgSO40. 3g/ L, (NH4 )2SO43 g/ L,MnSO40. 1g/ L,K 2 HPO43 g/ L,yeast extract 1g/ L,CaCO32g/ L,incubated at 32 ℃,sha-king 180,filling at volume 100 mL in 500 mL,inoculum at 4％,initial pH 7. 0,culture for 45 h. The colony-forming units per milliliter were improved from 1. 6 × 109 to 8. 1 × 109 after optimization,and the spore concentration was in-creased by 3. 7 times. The broth valance reached as much as 3350 IU/ mL,increased by 109％,2000 IU/ mL higher than the strain of same kinds.

Abstract:The mutagenicities of 3‐chloro‐4‐(dichloromethyl)‐5‐hydroxy‐2(5H)‐furanone (MX, compound 1), 3‐chloro‐4‐(dichloromethyl)‐2(5H)‐furanone (RMX, compound 6), and 2‐(dichloromethyl)‐3,3‐dichloropropenal (TCB, compound 7) were determined in the same assay and in repetitive determinations using Salmonella typhimurium (TA 100) without microsomal fraction activation. In addition, the mutagenicity of 2‐methyl‐3,3‐dichloropropenal (compound 8) was assayed in the same manner although not simultaneously with MX, RMX, and TCB. This study was undertaken to ascertain the role of open‐ and closed‐ring forms of MX in the mutagenicity of MX. MX proved to be roughly 100 times more mutagenic than the open‐ring analogue TCB and 10 times more mutagenic than the closed‐ring analogue RMX. Compound 8 was inactive. Assay stability of the three active compounds in Vogel‐Bonner medium at 38°C was estimated as the chemical half‐life values by following the change in UV absorbance at selected wave lengths. Half‐life values were 10.7, 2.6, and 2.8 hr, respectively, for MX, RMX, and TCB. The enhanced mutagenicity of MX relative to RMX and TCB is attributed to the intrinsic mutagenicity of MX and its greater stability is judged to play only a minor role. Moreover, the greater mutagenicity of the closed‐ring analogue RMX relative to the open‐ring analogue TCB points to the ring form of MX as the active species even though the open form of MX is predominant under assay conditions.
Optimization of fermentation conditions for production of a novel antifungal metabolite by response surface methodology

Abstract:A strain ZS09-33, antagonising human pathogenic fungi-Candida albicans, was screened from soil samples of East Sea, Zhejiang Province, China. The strain was identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens based on sequencing 16S rRNA gene and blasting in Genbank. Then a two-level Plackett-Burman design was established to determine which factors in the fermentation medium influence the potency activity of metabolites. The concentrations of soybean bran, starch soluble and (NH4)2SO4 were optimized using the response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum composition of medium was as follows (per liter): soybean flour 2.72, soluble starch 26.67, (NH4)2SO4 3.95, K2HPO4 1.8, NaCl 2, MgSO4 0.5, CaCO3 0.72, CuSO4 0.02, FeSO4 0.02, MnSO4 0.02, initial pH 6.5. Under the RSM-optimized conditions, the potency activity of culture broth was 16 806.48 U/mL, which accorded well with the model-predicted value and resulted in a 2.39-fold increase in antifungal activity compared to the original culture conditions obtained by single-factor methodology. After analyzed by ESI/MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR, the substance was determined as a macrolides antibiotic with relative molecular weight 402.

Abstract:Xylanase produced from Trichoderma spp.can induce plant resistance,which is one of important biocontrol mechanisms of fungal Trichoderma.The effect of cultural condition on the producing xylanase by T.harzianum strains was investigated.Appropriate pH,temperature,concentration of surface active agent Tween 80,incubation period were optimized for enzyme production.The results show that the culture conditions of maximum enzyme activities produced from different T.harzianum strains were different in shaker flasks with semi-solid media.Maximum enzyme activities were at pH 5.0,30 ℃,0.7%(concentration of surface active agent Tween 80)and 72 h for NF9,pH 4.0,27 ℃,1.2% and 84 h for P1,pH 5.0,27 ℃,0.7% and 84 h for CT22,pH 4.0,30 ℃,0.7% and 96 h for TC3,respectively.
Optimization of Preparation Process and Industrial Preparation of Trichoderma viride Strain

Abstract:In the industrial production of Trichoderma viride, the storage cycle of the producing strain is too short, the strain is more serious, the color of the spore is shallow, the yellow green is changed, the process of seed production is too long and the quality of the final product is affected. Based on the original formula, the fermentation process was optimized by orthogonal experiment and verification experiment. Finally, the optimum fermentation medium of solid seed was determined: millet 35%, corn flour 25%, seaweed active powder 10%, bran 30%, and inorganic salt 0.8%. In the above optimized solid medium of Trichoderma green, the color of conidia changed from light green to dark green, and the maximum yield of conidia could reach 7.7 × 109/g (dry culture). The results showed that the optimized mycelium content was 1.25 times higher than that of the original mycelium in 300 L liquid fermentor at 30 h fermentation period.

Abstract:To improve the trichodermin yield by the mutant strain UL60-11 of Trichoderma taxi ZJUF0986,fermentation conditions were optimized by single factor and uniform design with orthogonal test.Single factor test indicated glucose and starch were the best carbon sources,and peptone,yeast powder and ammonium tartrate were the best nitrogen sources.The optimal medium was composed of 23 g glucose,15 g starch,5 g peptone,3 g yeast extract,2 g ammonium tartrate,0.25 g magnesium sulfate,1.0 g potassium dihydrogen phosphate,0.2 g sodium chloride and 0.4 g calcium nitrate by uniform design and orthogonal test.Under the optimal culture conditions of temperature 25 ℃,initial pH 4.0,inoculation volume of 10% with 48 h cultured seeds,medium volume 100 ml in 500 ml flask and rotation speed 150 r/min,the yield of trichodermin reached 632.16 μg/mL,increased 32% compared with that under the original fermentation conditions.
Synchronous Production of Conidial Powder of Several Fungal Biocontrol Agents in Series Fermentation Chamber System

Abstract:A series solid-state fermentation (SSF) chamber system was designed to produce superior conidial powder of several fungal biocontrol agents. The synchronous conidia production of six fungal biocontrol candidates in three genera including Metarhizium flavoviride ARSEF 5628, M. anisopliae ARSEF 456, Beauveria bassiana ARSEF 734 and ARSEF 2860, Paecilomyces fumosoroseus ARSEF 6206 and ARSEF 3843 were assessed for the feasibility of chamber system. The conidial powder of those strains harvested from 5-kg rice cultures in a chamber weighed 147.1, 137.5, 101.2, 89.2, 55.0 and 40.0 g, and obtained 2.2 x 10(12), 2.7 x 10(12), 5.4 x 10(12), 4.6 x 10(12), 1.8 x 10(12), 1.3 x 10(12) conidia kg(-1) rice, respectively. Experimental data from the new series chamber system were obviously better than those of previous reports. Moreover, conidial viability of those isolates was up to 95% entirely. Results suggest that the chamber system have the capability to meet the quick and simple biocontrol evaluation activities such as biological characteristic of various biocontrol agents, from synchronous production to multiplicate trials.

Abstract:A strain,having strong antagonistic activity toward phytopathogens,was identified as Trichoderma ghanense by the methods of molecular biology. This strain of Trichoderma ghanense as testing strain,optimization of the solid state fermentation medium was performed to improve the spore yield. Through the single factor experiment,Plackett-Burman experiment,the steepest ascent experiment and the response surface analysis, sugar,corn steep liquor and MgSO4were identified as the most important factors to influence the spore yield. The optimal concentration of the three factors is 0. 56%,0. 56% and 2. 59% respectively. The optimal initial water content of the medium was identified as 35% and the optimal initial pHwas identified as 9. The highest spore yield have been achieved as 1. 16 × 109CFU / g initial dry substrate( IDS) on the optimized solid state medium, which is 17 times higher than the initial medium.

Abstract:The large-scale production of nematophagous fungi as agents of biological control is one of the main challenges to be commercially used. In order to improve growth of microorganism in a culture medium, the addition of growth inducer is common. At the moment, the action of their addition in the mycelia growth and sporulation rate of nematophagous fungi is not known. The purpose of this trial was to evaluate the sporulation rate of Duddingtonia flagrans by adding two growth inducers, meso-inositol and Tween 80, both at 0.5 % in a traditional culture medium Sabouraud glucose agar (SGA) and also in a traditional culture medium enriched with wheat flour and milk powder. From a traditional sterile culture of D. flagrans, four groups were made: SGA; Sabouraud glucose agar-meso-inositol 0.5 %; Sabouraud glucose agar-Tween 80 0.5 %; and Sabouraud glucose agar-enriched (SGA-E). These media were placed at a constant temperature of 27 °C for 4 weeks. Following this, chlamydospores were gently rinsed off with sterile water and counted using a Neubauer haematocytometer to estimate the number of chlamydospores per millilitre of water. The addition of meso-inositol 0.5 % to SGA promoted a significant increase (p < 0.05) in chlamydospore production obtaining an average of 51,715,000 chlamydospores per Petri dish. The highest chlamydospore concentration was observed in the SGA-E in comparison with SGA (p < 0.01) obtaining an average of 208,760,000 chlamydospores. The aim of this study was to obtain basic knowledge regarding the effect of enriched culture medium and growth-inducing meso-inositol and Tween 80 on mycelial growth and production of chlamydospores.

Abstract:The strains capable of degrading cellulose have attracted much interest because of their applications in straw resource utilization in solid-state fermentation (SSF). However, achieving high spore production in SSF is rarely reported. The production of spores from Streptomyces griseorubens JSD-1 was investigated in shaker-flask cultivation in this study. The optimal carbon, organic nitrogen and inorganic nitrogen sources were sucrose, yeast extract and urea, respectively. Plackett–Burman design (PBD) was adopted to determine the key medium components, and the concentration levels of three components (urea, NaCl, MgSO4·7H2O) were optimized with the steepest ascent path and central composite design (CCD), achieving 1.72 × 109 CFU/g of spore production. Under the optimal conditions (urea 2.718% w/v, NaCl 0.0697% w/v, MgSO4·7H2O 0.06956% w/v), the practical value of spore production was 1.69 × 109 CFU/g. The determination coefficient (R2) was 0.9498, which ensures an adequate credibility of the model.

Abstract:Tyrosine phenol lyase (TPL) is a robust biocatalyst for the production of L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). The improvement of TPL production is conducive to the industrial potential. In this study, the optimization of culture medium of recombinant Escherichia coli harboring TPL from Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn-TPL) was carried out. Sucrose and combination of yeast extract and peptone were selected as carbon and nitrogen source, respectively. Their optimal concentrations were determined by Box-Behnken design and the synergistic effect between yeast extract and peptone was found to be significant, with p-value < 0.05. The DO-STAT fed-batch fermentation under optimized culture condition was established and the oxygen level was fixed at 20%. Both the biomass and Fn-TPL activity were significantly increased, which were 35.6 g dcw/L and 12292 U/L, respectively. The results obtained significantly promote the industrial production of L-DOPA production.
Enhanced sporulation of B. licheniformis BF‐002 through automatic co‐feeding of carbon and nitrogen sources

Abstract:An automatic carbon/nitrogen source co‐feeding strategy was established based on the balanced equation of carbon source consumption, the CER relationship, and the optimal C/N. It was applied in 5 L and 50 L scale cultivations of Bacillus licheniformis BF‐002, resulting in spore quantities of 2.35 × 1010 and 2.86 × 1010 CFU/mL, respectively. Bacillus licheniformis formulations are effective for environmental remediation, gut microbiota modulation, and soil improvement. An adequate spore quantity is crucial for the activity of B. licheniformis formulations. This study investigated the synergistic effects of carbon/nitrogen source consumption and concentration on B. licheniformis BF‐002 cultivation, with the aim of developing an automatic co‐feeding strategy to enhance spore production. Initial glucose (10 g/L) and amino nitrogen (1.5 g/L) concentrations promote cell growth, followed by reduced glucose (2.0 g/L) and amino nitrogen (0.5 g/L) concentrations for sustained spore generation. The spore quantity reached 2.59 × 1010 CFU/mL. An automatic co‐feeding strategy was developed and implemented in 5 and 50 L cultivations, resulting in spore quantities of 2.35 × 1010 and 2.86 × 1010 CFU/mL, respectively, improving by 6.81% and 30.00% compared to that with a fixed glucose concentration (10.0 g/L). The culture broth obtained at both the 5 and 50 L scales was spray‐dried, resulting in bacterial powder with cell viability rates of 85.94% and 82.68%, respectively. Even after exposure to harsh conditions involving high temperature and humidity, cell viability remained at 72.80% and 69.89%, respectively. Employing the automatic co‐feeding strategy increased the transcription levels of the spore formation‐related genes spo0A, spoIIGA, bofA, and spoIV by 7.42%, 8.46%, 8.87%, and 9.79%, respectively. The proposed strategy effectively promoted Bacillus growth and spore formation, thereby enhancing the quality of B. licheniformis formulations.

Abstract:The advancement of fungal biocontrol agents depends on replacing cereal grains with low-cost agro-industrial byproducts for their economical mass production and development of stable formulations. We propose an innovative approach to develop a rice flour-based formulation of the beneficial biocontrol agent Trichoderma asperelloides CMAA1584 designed to simulate a micro-bioreactor within the concept of full biorefinery process, affording in situ conidiation, extended shelf-life, and effective control of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, a devastating pathogen of several dicot agricultural crops worldwide. Rice flour is an inexpensive and underexplored byproduct derived from broken rice after milling, capable of sustaining high yields of conidial production through our optimized fermentation-formulation route. Conidial yield was mainly influenced by nitrogen content (0.1% w/w) added to the rice meal coupled with the fermentor type. Hydrolyzed yeast was the best nitrogen source yielding 2.6 × 109 colony-forming units (CFU)/g within 14 days. Subsequently, GControl, GLecithin, GBreak-Thru, GBentonite, and GOrganic compost+Break-Thru formulations were obtained by extrusion followed by air-drying and further assessed for their potential to induce secondary sporulation in situ, storage stability, and efficacy against Sclerotinia. GControl, GBreak-Thru, GBentonite, and GOrganic compost+Break-Thru stood out with the highest number of CFU after sporulation upon re-hydration on water-agar medium. Shelf-life of formulations GControl and GBentonite remained consistent for > 3 months at ambient temperature, while in GBentonite and GOrganic compost+Break-Thru formulations remained viable for 24 months during refrigerated storage. Formulations exhibited similar efficacy in suppressing the myceliogenic germination of Sclerotinia irrespective of their concentration tested (5 × 104 to 5 × 106 CFU/g of soil), resulting in 79.2 to 93.7% relative inhibition. Noteworthily, all 24-month-old formulations kept under cold storage successfully suppressed sclerotia. This work provides an environmentally friendly bioprocess method using rice flour as the main feedstock to develop waste-free granular formulations of Trichoderma conidia that are effective in suppressing Sclerotinia while also improving biopesticide shelf-life. KEY POINTS: • Innovative "bioreactor-in-a-granule" system for T. asperelloides is devised. • Dry granules of aerial conidia remain highly viable for 24 months at 4 °C. • Effective control of white-mold sclerotia via soil application of Trichoderma-based granules.
Transcriptome Dynamics Underlying Chlamydospore Formation in Trichoderma virens GV29-8

Abstract:Trichoderma spp. are widely used biocontrol agents which are antagonistic to a variety of plant pathogens. Chlamydospores are a type of propagules produced by many fungi that have thick walls and are highly resistant to adverse environmental conditions. Chlamydospore preparations of Trichoderma spp. can withstand various storage conditions, have a longer shelf life than conidial preparations and have better application potential. However, large-scale production of chlamydospores has proven difficult. To understand the molecular mechanisms governing chlamydospore formation (CF) in Trichoderma fungi, we performed a comprehensive analysis of transcriptome dynamics during CF across 8 different developmental time points, which were divided into 4 stages according to PCA analysis: the mycelium growth stage (S1), early and middle stage of CF (S2), flourishing stage of CF (S3), and late stage of CF and mycelia initial autolysis (S4). 2864, 3206, and 3630 DEGs were screened from S2 vs S1, S3 vs S2, and S4 vs S3, respectively. We then identified the pathways and genes that play important roles in each stage of CF by GO, KEGG, STC and WGCNA analysis. The results showed that DEGs in the S2 vs S1 were mainly enriched in organonitrogen compound metabolism, those in S3 vs S2 were mainly involved in secondary metabolite, cell cycle, and N-glycan biosynthesis, and DEGs in S4 vs S3 were mainly involved in lipid, glycogen, and chitin metabolic processes. We speculated that mycelial assimilation and absorption of exogenous nitrogen in the early growth stage (S1), resulted in subsequent nitrogen deficiency (S2). At the same time, secondary metabolites and active oxygen free radicals released during mycelial growth produced an adverse growth environment. The resulting nitrogen-deficient and toxin enriched medium may stimulate cell differentiation by initiating cell cycle regulation to induce morphological transformation of mycelia into chlamydospores. High expression of genes relating to glycogen, lipid, mannan, and chitin synthetic metabolic pathways during the flourishing (S3) and late stages (S4) of CF may be conducive to energy storage and cell wall construction in chlamydospores. For further verifying the functions of the amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism (tre00520) pathway in the CF of T. virens GV29-8 strain, the chitin synthase gene (TRIVIDRAFT_90152), one key gene of the pathway, was deleted and resulted in the dysplasia of mycelia and an incapability to form normal chlamydospores, which illustrated the pathway affecting the CF of T. virens GV29-8 strain. Our results provide a new perspective for understanding the genetics of biochemical pathways involved in CF of Trichoderma spp.

The aim of this study was to develop a growth medium for cultivating C. butyricum ZJUCB using a statistical methodology.METHODS AND RESULTS:Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to evaluate the effects of variables, namely the concentrations of the glucose, pectin, soyabean cake extract, casein, corn steep flour, ammonium sulphate, sodium bicarbonate and the medium initial pH. A fractional factorial design was applied to study the main factors that affected the growth of a probiotic strain of C. butyricum currently preserved in our lab and the central composite experimental design was adopted to derive a statistical model for optimizing the composition of the fermentation medium. The experimental results showed that the optimum fermentation medium for the growth of C. butyricum was composed of 2% glucose (w/v), 0.5% pectin (w/v), 0.2% casein (w/v), 3.98% soyabean cake extract, 0.1% (NH4)2SO4 (w/v), 0.124% NaHCO3 (w/v), 0.37% corn steep flour (w/v), 0.02% MnSO4 H2O (w/v), 0.02% MgSO4 7H2O (w/v) and 0.002% CaCl2 (w/v) at pH 7.5.CONCLUSIONS:After incubating 24 h in the optimum fermentation medium, the populations of the viable organisms were estimated to be 10(9) CFU ml(-1). In the present study, we report the optimization of a growth medium that produced increased yields using statistical approach.SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY:The use of bacteria as a probiotic is showing increasing potential. The development of a growth medium that has a high yield is an obvious need, and the approach to optimizing a growth medium is innovative.

Abstract:ABSTRACT: Probiotic bacteria, such as some strains of Clostridium butyricum, have been frequently used as the active ingredient in functional foods. However, slow growth of the probiotic bacteria has been one of the big concerns for their potential commercial application. In the present study, a fractional factorial design was applied to investigate the main factors, namely, the concentrations of the glucose, tryptone, yeast extract, beef extract, cys‐teine, (NH4) 2SO4, NaCl, K2HPO4, and the medium initial pH that affected the growth of 1 probiotic strain, C. butyricum ZJUCB, currently preserved in our laboratory. Central composite experimental design and response surface methodology were adopted to derive a statistical model for optimizing the composition of the medium. The experimental results showed that the optimum medium for incubating the C. butyricum ZJUCB was composed of 2.44% (w/v) glucose, 2.08% yeast extract (w/v), 1% tryptone (w/v), 0.1% (NH4)2SO4 (w/v), 0.1% NaHCO3 (w/v), 0.02% MnSO4. H2O (w/v), 0.02% MgSO4. 7H2O (w/v), 0.002% CaCl2 (w/v), and 2% agar (w/v) (if necessary) at pH 8.55. After incubation for 24 h in the optimum medium, the populations of the viable organisms could reach 109 colony‐forming units (CFU)/mL, which was 100 times higher than that incubated in the initial medium.

Abstract:High-density culture is able to obtain high concentration and activity of microbes, which is a key technology for fermentation industry. This will greatly shorten fermentation cycle and reduce production cost. Bacillus sp. TTMP20 is a strain with a high yield of 2,3,5,6-tetramethylpyrazine (TTMP). In this study, the growth medium of Bacillus sp. TTMP20 was optimized. Different carbon/nitrogen sources were investigated, and the best carbon source (glucose) and nitrogen source (yeast extract) was determined. With the concentrations of glucose, yeast extract and pH as influence factors, response surface method was used to optimize the above-mentioned influence factors to maximize cell density of the strain. The optimal growth medium is as follows: 4 g/L of yeast extract, 15.754 g/L of glucose, 2 g/L of K 2 HPO 4 , 10 g/L of NaCl, and 6.50 of pH. The predicted and actual maxima are 1.388 and 1.3, respectively. This is 61.4% higher than the cell density of the basic medium. This will provide the adequate seed culture for the subsequent fermentation of TTMP, and improve the application level of Bacillus sp. TTMP20.

Abstract:During current submerged fermentation for microbial lipid production, the large-scale reactor operations inevitably consume substantial amounts of water and electricity for aeration, stirring, and temperature control and result in the operational costs almost exceeding the biodiesel value produced. Thus, developing a novel low-cost cultivation strategy is urgently needed by microbial lipid industry. The filamentous fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium can synthesize and accumulate lipids via static solid cultivation. The conversion efficiency of substrates to lipids reaches 0.277 g/g substrate after optimization of the following cultivation factors: humidity, solid medium thickness, temperature, and rotary speed. The lipids obtained by static solid cultivation differ in component and relative content from those achieved by submerged cultivation. Laser scanning confocal microscopy reveals that numerous chlamydospores filled with lipids appear during static solid cultivation, and the fungal morphological change explains why static solid cultivation is superior in lipid yield compared with submerged fermentation. The genes coding the enzymes related to fatty acid elongation and degradation are differently expressed during static solid cultivation, which presents an answer to the appearance of abundant saturated long-chain fatty acids (93.6% in total fatty acids) in chlamydospores. In addition, engineering viability and cost–benefit analysis show that the conversion of wheat bran and glucose to lipid by the fungus is efficient. More importantly, the solid cultivation incurs only a small reactor operational cost because neither cooling water nor electrical equipment, including aerator, stirrer, and the temperature control system, is used. This study developed a robust and cost-saving solid fermentation method without an aerator, stirrer, and temperature control system to produce microbial lipids using the chlamydospores of P. chrysosporium. Compared with conventional submerged fermentation, the solid cultivation strategy is promising because it diminishes most of the reactor operational costs, including water and power expenses.
