Abstract:A new method of label free sensing approach with superior selectivity and sensitivity towards virlabel-freeon is presented here, employing the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) behavior of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and fluorescent CdSeTeS quantum dots (QDs). Inorganic quaternary alloyed CdSeTeS QDs were capped with L-cysteine via a ligand exchange reaction. Alternatively, citrate stabilized AuNPs were functionalized with 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid to generate carboxylic group on the gold surface. The carboxylic group on the AuNPs was subjected to bind covalently with the amine group of L-cysteine capped CdSeTeS QDs to form CdSeTeS QDs/AuNPs nanocomposites. The fluorescence of CdSeTeS QDs/AuNPs nanocomposite shows quenched spectrum of CdSeTeS QDs at 640 nm due to the close interaction with AuNPs. However, after successive addition of norovirus-like particles (NoV-LPs), steric hindrance-induced LSPR signal from the adjacent AuNPs triggered the fluorescence enhancement of QDs in proportion to the concentration of the target NoV-LPs. A linear range of 10-14 to 10-9 g mL-1 NoV-LPs with a detection limit of 12.1 × 10-15 g mL-1 was obtained. This method was further applied on clinically isolated norovirus detection, in the range of 102-105 copies mL-1 with a detection limit of 95.0 copies mL-1, which is 100-fold higher than commercial ELISA kit. The superiority of the proposed sensor over other conventional sensors is found in its ultrasensitive detectability at low virus concentration even in clinically isolated samples. This proposed detection method can pave an avenue for the development of high performance and robust sensing probes for detection of virus in biomedical applications.

Abstract:Ultra-sensitive, accurate, and specific diagnostic probes are urgently developed to overcome the limitations of conventional norovirus (NV) probes. Herein, we presented the fabrication of a dual-signal probe using multifunctionalized gold and magnetic nanoparticles hybrid composite (Fe3O4 @Au NPs) carriers for the specific detection of NV by magnetic relaxation-fluorescence bimodal sensing. The dual-specific probes were created by modifying Fe3O4 @Au NPs with antibody (Ab) and aptamer-FAM. The antigen-Ab immunoreaction caused aggregation of Fe3O4 @Au NPs, altering the magnetic relaxation signal; simultaneously, the aptamer-FAM that were originally adsorbed on the Au surface were desorbed and cleaved into the solution in the presence of NV, causing a change in the fluorescence signal. Ultrahigh detection sensitives of 0.38 and 3.45 pg/mL were obtained for the dual-modality detection platform, respectively. Furthermore, two quantitative methods obtained satisfactory spiked recoveries for NV-spiked oyster, scallop, strawberry, and tomato samples, consistent with the results of commercial ELISA kits. The results indicated that this dual-specificity assay not only was ultrasensitive but also markedly boosted analysis reliability and precision. Hence, the dual-mode biosensor exhibits high potential for NV detection in the field of food safety.

Abstract:In recent years, quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) plays an important role in many biological detections, and the enhancement of a single strain DNA probe linked to the sensor surface is of crucial importance in DNA molecule recognition. By means of nanogold modification and mass amplification, a QCM biosensor for Escherichia coli O157:H7 DNA detection was explored and developed in this work. As a suitable surfactant, 1,6-Hexanedithiol was introduced onto the Au surface of QCM, then self-assembled to provide a thioled interface for the inner goldnano immobilization. Based on the Au-SH binding mechanism, thiolated single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probes which was specific to E. coli O157:H7 eaeA gene would link to the nanoparticle-modified electrode surface. The hybridization was induced by exposing the ssDNA probe to the complementary target DNA, but the frequency change caused by the captured target DNA was negligible. In order to amplify the signal, outer nanogold as the mass enhancer were applied to combine with the target DNA by the biotin-avidin system. The electrochemical techniques, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), are adopted to manifest and character each step, which supplied some reasonable and powerful supports for the frication and detection of this QCM biosensor. The target DNA corresponding to 2.0 times 103 colony forming unit (CFU)/ml E. coli O157:H7 can be detected by this biosensor, so it is practical to develop a sensitive and effective QCM biosensor for pathogenic bacteria detection based on specific DNA analysis. In order to attract more attention, this DNA biosensor should be combined with some micro- and nano-fabrication techniques to realize more promising and pratical applications, and more attention should be focused on the further improvement of the sensitivity and the shorten of analysis time.
Sulfur-doped carbon dots@polydopamine-functionalized magnetic silver nanocubes for dual-modality detection of norovirus

Abstract:Synergistic dual-mode optical platforms are up-and-coming detection tools in the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases. Here, novel dual-modality fluorescence (FL) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) techniques have been integrated into a single probe for the rapid and ultrasensitive detection of norovirus (NoV). The developed FL-SER-based biosensor relies on the dual-signal enhancements of newly synthesized sulfur-doped agar-derived carbon dots (S-agCDs). The antigen-antibody immunoreaction results in forming a core-satellite immunocomplex between anti-NoV antibody-conjugated S-agCDs and polydopamine-functionalized magnetic silver nanocubes [poly (dop)-MNPs-Ag NCs]. By deploying an immunomagnetic enrichment protocol and performing the SERS modality on a single-layer graphene substrate, norovirus-like particles (NoV-LPs) were detected across a wide range of 1 fg mL-1 - 10 ng mL-1 with an excellent limit of detection of 0.1 fg mL-1. The combined advantage of the dual-signaling properties of the biosensor was demonstrated using FL confocal imaging for "hotspots" tracking prior to SERS detection of clinical NoV in fecal specimen down to ⁓10 RNA copies mL-1. The proposed dual-modality biosensor's performance increases the prospect of a rapid and low-cost sensitive NoV detection and surveillance option for public health.
Signal-amplified surface-enhanced Raman scattering using core/shell satellite nanoparticles for norovirus detection

Abstract:The development of an innovative approach is explored to amplify the signal of a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based detection system using a novel nanotag: Au@Ag NPs covered by satellite AuNPs and conjugated by 4-mercaptbenzoic acid (4-MBA) as a Raman tag (Au@Ag-MBA-AuNPs). The Au@Ag-MBA-AuNPs nanotags showed strong SERS activities with an enhancement factor in the 108 order of magnitude. This indicates the formation of many hot spots due to the combination of core-shell nanoparticles and satellite AuNPs on the surface of Au@Ag-MBA NPs. The newly fabricated nanotags were employed in a small-sized Palmtop Raman spectrometer. A concentration-dependent increase in SERS intensity was observed in the norovirus-like particle (NoV-LP) concentration range 10 fg/mL to 100 pg/mL with a detection limit of 0.76 fg/mL. Even in the severe interfering matrices, this detection method's coefficient of variation was less than 10%. This detection system was approximately 107 times more sensitive than commercially available ELISA kits. Norovirus in clinical samples was detected over a wide concentration range of 1.0 × 101 - 1.0 × 106 RNA copy number/mL with a detection limit of 7.8 RNA copy number/mL, indicating sensitivity comparable to real-time PCR. These results suggest that this detection system is stable in a complex matrix and has the potential for detecting norovirus in clinical samples with a small Palmtop Raman spectrometer.
Ultrasensitive Norovirus Detection Using DNA Aptasensor Technology

Abstract:DNA aptamers were developed against murine norovirus (MNV) using SELEX (Systematic Evolution of Ligands by EXponential enrichment). Nine rounds of SELEX led to the discovery of AG3, a promising aptamer with very high affinity for MNV as well as for lab-synthesized capsids of a common human norovirus (HuNoV) outbreak strain (GII.3). Using fluorescence anisotropy, AG3 was found to bind with MNV with affinity in the low picomolar range. The aptamer could cross-react with HuNoV though it was selected against MNV. As compared to a non-specific DNA control sequence, the norovirus-binding affinity of AG3 was about a million-fold higher. In further tests, the aptamer also showed nearly a million-fold higher affinity for the noroviruses than for the feline calicivirus (FCV), a virus similar in size and structure to noroviruses. AG3 was incorporated into a simple electrochemical sensor using a gold nanoparticle-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (GNPs-SPCE). The aptasensor could detect MNV with a limit of detection of approximately 180 virus particles, for possible on-site applications. The lead aptamer candidate and the aptasensor platform show promise for the rapid detection and identification of noroviruses in environmental and clinical samples.

Development of CdSe⁻ZnO Flower-Rod Core-Shell Structure Based Photoelectrochemical Biosensor for Detection of Norovirous RNA

Abstract:In this work, the CdSe⁻ZnO flower-rod core-shell structure (CSZFRs) was prepared by ion-exchange method. The surface of CSZFRs was modified by 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA), and then the DNA probe was immobilized on the surface via chemical bond between -NH₂ of DNA probe and -COOH of MPA. Finally, the target norovirous (NV) RNA was combined with the probe according to the principle of complementary base pairing, resulting in a decrease of the photocurrent. The results show that the absorbance spectrum of visible light is enhanced for CSZFRs compared with pure ZnO. Under visible light irradiation, the photocurrent of CSZFRs is up to 0.1 mA, which can improve the sensitivity of the photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor. In the measurement range of 0⁻5.10 nM, the measured concentrations (c) have a good linear relationship with the output photocurrent of the biosensor. The linear regression equation is expressed as I = 0.03256 - 0.0033c (R² = 0.99, S/N = 3) with a detection limit of 0.50 nM. Therefore, this work realizes a rapid and sensitive method for the detection of NV RNA.
Molybdenum Trioxide Quantum Dot-Encapsulated Nanogels for Virus Detection by Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering on a 2D Substrate

Abstract:The use of nanogels (NGs) to modulate surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activities is introduced as an innovative strategy to address certain critical issues with SERS-based immunoassays. This includes the chemical deformation of SERS nanotags, as well as their nonspecific interactions and effective "hotspots" formation. Herein, the polymeric cocoon and stimuli-responsive properties of NGs were used to encapsulate SERS nanotags containing plasmonic molybdenum trioxide quantum dots (MoO3-QDs). The pH-controlled release of the encapsulated nanotags and their subsequent localization by maleimide-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles facilitated the creation of "hotspots" regions with catalyzed SERS activities. This approach resulted in developing a biosensing platform for the ultrasensitive immunoassays of hepatitis E virus (HEV) or norovirus (NoV). The immunoassays were optimized using the corresponding virus-like particles to attain limits of detection of 6.5 and 8.2 fg/mL for HEV-LPs and NoV-LPs, respectively. The SERS-based technique achieved a signal enhancement factor of up to ∼108 due to the combined electromagnetic and chemical mechanisms of the employed dual-SERS substrate of MoO3-QDs/2D hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets. The highlight and validation of the developed SERS-based immunoassays was the detection of NoV in infected patients' fecal specimen and clinical HEV G7 subtype. Importantly, this system can be used to maintain the stability of SERS nanotags and improve their reliability in immunoassays.

Abstract:Norovirus (NoV) is a major foodborne pathogen responsible for acute gastroenteritis epidemics, and establishing a robust detection method for the timely identification and monitoring of NoV contamination is of great significance. In this study, a peptide-target-aptamer sandwich electrochemical biosensor for NoV was fabricated using Au@BP@Ti3C2-MXene and magnetic Au@ZnFe2O4@COF nanocomposites. The response currents of the electrochemical biosensor were proportional to the NoV concentrations ranging from 0.01-105 copies/mL with a detection limit (LOD) of 0.003 copies/mL (S/N = 3). To our best knowledge, this LOD was the lowest among published assays to date, due to the specific recognition of the affinity peptide and aptamer for NoV and the outstanding catalytic activity of nanomaterials. Furthermore, the biosensor showed excellent selectivity, antiinterference performance, and satisfactory stability. The NoV concentrations in simulative food matrixes were successfully detected using the constructed biosensor. Meanwhile, NoV in stool samples was also successfully quantified without complex pretreatment. The designed biosensor had the potential to detect NoV (even at a low level) in foods, clinical samples, and environmental samples, providing a new method for NoV detection in food safety and diagnosing foodborne pathogens.
A norovirus detection architecture based on isothermal amplification and expanded genetic systems

Abstract:Noroviruses are the major cause of global viral gastroenteritis with short incubation times and small inoculums required for infection. This creates a need for a rapid molecular test for norovirus for early diagnosis, in the hope of preventing the spread of the disease. Non-chemists generally use off-the shelf reagents and natural DNA to create such tests, suffering from background noise that comes from adventitious DNA and RNA (collectively xNA) that is abundant in real biological samples, especially feces, a common location for norovirus. Here, we create an assay that combines artificially expanded genetic information systems (AEGIS, which adds nucleotides to the four in standard xNA, pairing orthogonally to A:T and G:C) with loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) to amplify norovirus RNA at constant temperatures, without the power or instrument requirements of PCR cycling. This assay was then validated using feces contaminated with murine norovirus (MNV). Treating stool samples with ammonia extracts the MNV RNA, which is then amplified in an AEGIS-RT-LAMP where AEGIS segments are incorporated both into an internal LAMP primer and into a molecular beacon stem, the second lowering background signaling noise. This is coupled with RNase H nicking during sample amplification, allowing detection of as few as 10 copies of noroviral RNA in a stool sample, generating a fluorescent signal visible to human eye, all in a closed reaction vessel.

Abstract:Noroviruses are the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis and food-borne diseases worldwide. Thus, a rapid, accurate, and easy-to-implement detection method for controlling infection and monitoring progression is urgently needed. In this study, we constructed a novel sandwich-type electrochemical biosensor integrated with two specific recognition elements (aptamer and peptide) for human norovirus (HuNoV). The electrochemical biosensor was fabricated using magnetic covalent organic framework/pillararene heterosupramolecular nanocomposites (MB@Apt@WP5A@Au@COF@Fe3O4) as the signal probes. The sensor showed high accuracy and selectivity. The detection method does not need the extraction and amplification of virus nucleic acid and has a short turn-around time. Intriguingly, the proposed biosensor had a limit of detection of 0.84 copy mL-1 for HuNoV, which was the highest sensitivity among published assays. The proposed biosensor showed higher sensitivity and accuracy compared with immunochromatographic assay in the detection of 98 clinical specimens. The biosensor was capable of determining the predominant infection strain of GII.4 and also GII.3 and achieved 74% selectivity for HuNoV GII group. This study provides a potential method for point-of-care testing and highlights the integrated utilization of Apt and peptide in sensor construction.

Abstract:Sensitive and accurate detection methods for infectious viruses are the pressing need for effective disease diagnosis and treatment. Herein, based on V2O5 nanoparticles-encapsulated liposomes (VONP-LPs) we demonstrate a dual-modality sensing platform for ultrasensitive detection of the virus. The sensing performance relies on intrinsic peroxidase and electrochemical redox property of V2O5 nanoparticles (V2O5 NPs). The target-specific antibody-conjugated VONP-LPs and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) enrich the virus by magnetic separation and the separated VONP-LPs bound viruses are hydrolyzed to release the encapsulated V2O5 NPs. These released nanoparticles from captured liposomes act as peroxidase mimics and electrochemical redox indicator resulting in noticeable colorimetric and robust electrochemical dual-signal. Utilizing the superiority of dual-modality sensor with two quantitative analysis forms, norovirus like particles (NoV-LPs) can be detected by electrochemical signals with a wide linear range and low detection limit. To verify the applicability in real samples, norovirus (NoV) collected from actual clinical samples are effectively-identified with excellent accuracy. This proposed detection method can be a promising next-generation bioassay platform for early-stage diagnosis of virus disease and surveillance for public health.

Abstract:Noroviruses are recognized worldwide as the principal cause of acute, non-bacterial gastroenteritis, resulting in 19-21 million cases of disease every year in the United States. Noroviruses have a very low infectious dose, a short incubation period, high resistance to traditional disinfection techniques and multiple modes of transmission, making early, point-of-care detection essential for controlling the spread of the disease. The traditional diagnostic tools, electron microscopy, RT-PCR and ELISA require sophisticated and expensive instrumentation, and are considered too laborious and slow to be useful during severe outbreaks. In this paper we describe the development of a new, rapid and sensitive lateral-flow assay using labeled phage particles for the detection of the prototypical norovirus GI.1 (Norwalk), with a limit of detection of 107 virus-like particles per mL, one hundred-fold lower than a conventional gold nanoparticle lateral-flow assay using the same antibody pair.

Abstract:Spherical nucleic acids (SNAs) have been used to construct various nanobiosensors with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as nuclei. The SNAs play a critical role in biosensing due to their various physical and chemical properties, programmability, and specificity recognition ability. In this study, CRISPR-responsive self-assembled spherical nucleic acid (CRISPR-rsSNA) detection probes were constructed by conjugating fluorescein-labeled probes to the surface of AuNPs to improve the sensing performance. Also, the mechanism of ssDNA and the role of different fluorescent groups in the self-assembly process of CRISPR-rsSNA were explored. Then, CRISPR-rsSNA and reverse transcription-recombinase polymerase amplification (RT-RPA) were combined to develop an ultrasensitive fluorescence-detection strategy for norovirus. In the presence of the virus, the target RNA sequence of the virus was transformed and amplified by RT-RPA. The resulting dsDNA activated the trans-cleavage activity of CRISPR cas12a, resulting in disintegrating the outer nucleic acid structure of the CRISPR-rsSNA at a diffusible rate, which released reporter molecules. Norovirus was quantitated by fluorescence detection. This strategy facilitated the detection of the norovirus at the attomolar level. An RT-RPA kit for norovirus detected would be developed based on this method. The proposed method would be used for the detection of different viruses just by changing the target RNA and crRNA of the CRISPR cas12a system which provided a foundation for high-throughput detection of various substances.

Abstract:An NiPt nanozyme-mediated relaxation and colorimetric sensor is developed for dual-modality detection of norovirus (NoV). The relaxation modality is based on the "catalase-like" activity of the NiPt nanozyme, which adjusts the hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) mediated Fe (II)/Fe(III) conversion, thereby changing the relaxation signal. Poly-γ-glutamic acid (MW ≈ 1w) can enhance the relaxivity of Fe(III) (r 1 = 7.11 mM −1 s −1 ; r 2 = 8.94 mM −1 s −1 ). The colorimetric modality exploits the "peroxidase-like" activity of the NiPt nanozyme, which can catalyze the oxidation of colorless 3, 3′, 5, 5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue oxTMB in H 2 O 2 . Under optimal conditions, the relaxation modality exhibits a wide working range (1.0 × 10 1 –1.0 × 10 4 fM) and a limit of detection (LOD) of 4.7 fM (equivalent to 2820 copies/μL). The spiked recoveries range from 99.593 to 106.442 %, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) is less than 5.124 %. The colorimetric modality exhibited the same working range with a lower LOD of 2.9 fM (equivalent to 1740 copies/μL) and an RSD of less than 2.611 %. Additionally, the recombinase polymerase amplification reaction enabled the detection of low NoV levels in food samples with a working range of 10 2 –10 6 copies/mL and LOD of 10 2 copies/mL. The accuracy of the sensor in the analysis of spiked samples is consistent with the gold standard method (real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction), demonstrating the high accuracy and practical utility of the sensor.

Abstract:The highly contagious norovirus (NoV) is the most common causative agent of acute gastroenteritis, resulting in >200,000 deaths worldwide annually. A rapid and sensitive detection method is a prerequisite for effective prevention and timely identification of NoV contamination. In the present study, we developed a photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor coupled with a novel custom-made monoclonal antibody (mAb) for specific and sensitive NoV detection. Our system could detect levels of recombinant NoV capsid protein VP1 as low as 2x10-10 g mL-1 (4.9 pM) within 30 min in a concentration-dependent manner. More importantly, the biosensor was versatile in detecting virus isolated from real samples that were as low as 46 copies μL-1. These findings indicate that this system has the potential to serve as a convenient point-of-care system for diagnosing NoV infection and detecting NoV-contaminated food samples.

Abstract:Human norovirus (HuNoV) is the most predominant viral agents of acute gastroenteritis. Point‐of‐care testing (POCT) based on lateral flow immunochromatography (LIFC) has become an important tool for rapid diagnosis of HuNoVs. However, low sensitivity and lack of quantitation are the bottlenecks of traditional LIFC. Thus, we established a rapid and accurate technique that combined immunomagnetic enrichment (IM) with LFIC to identify GII HuNoVs in fecal specimens. Before preparing immunofluorescent nanomagnetic microspheres and achieving the effect of HuNoV enrichment in IM and fluorescent signal in LFIC, amino‐functionalized magnetic beads (MBs) and carboxylated quantum dots (QDs) were coupled at a mass ratio of 4:10. Anti‐HuNoV monoclonal antibody was then conjugated with QDs‐MB. The limit of detection was 1.56 × 104 copies/mL, and the quantitative detection range was 1.56 × 104 copies/mL–1 × 106 copies/mL under optimal circumstances. The common HuNoV genotypes GII.2, GII.3, GII.4, and GII.17 can be detected, there was no cross‐reaction with various enteric viruses, including rotavirus, astrovirus, enterovirus, and sapovirus. A comparison between IM‐LFIC and RT‐qPCR for the detection of 87 fecal specimens showed a high level of agreement (kappa = 0.799). This suggested that the method is rapid and sensitive, making it a promising option for point‐of‐care testing in the future.

Abstract:We previously identified a Nanobody (termed Nano-85) that bound to a highly conserved region on the norovirus capsid. In this study, the Nanobody was biotinylated and gold conjugated for a lateral flow immunoassay (termed Nano-IC). We showed that the Nano-IC assay was capable of detecting at least four antigenically distinct GII genotypes, including the newly emerging GII.17. In the clinical setting, the Nano-IC assay had sensitivities equivalent to other commercially available lateral flow systems. The Nano-IC method was capable of producing results in ~5 min, which makes this method useful in settings that require rapid diagnosis, such as cruise ship outbreaks and elder care facilities. The Nano-IC assay has several advantages over antibody-based IC methods: for example, Nanobodies can be readily produced in large quantities, they are generally more stable than conventional antibodies, and the Nanobody binding sites can be easily obtained by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract:This study introduces a dual-mode biosensor specifically designed for the quantitative detection of viruses in rapid analysis. The biosensor is unique in its use of both optical (fluorescence) and electrochemical (impedance) detection methods using the same nanocomposites, providing a dual confirmation system for virus (norovirus-like particles) quantification. The system is based on using two antibody-conjugated nanocomposites: CdSeS quantum dots and Au-N,S-GQD nanocomposites. For optical detection, the principle relies on the fluorescence quenching of CdSeS by Au-N,S-GQD in a sandwich structure with the target. Conversely, electrochemical detection is based on the change in impedance caused by the formation of the same sandwich structure. The biosensor demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, capable of detecting norovirus at concentrations of as low as femtomolar in the electrochemical method and picomolar in the optical method. In the dual-responsive concentration range from 10-13 to 10-10 M, the sensor is highly sensitive in both methods, creating significant changes in fluorescence intensity and impedance in the presence of virus. Furthermore, the biosensor exhibits a high degree of specificity, with a negligible response to nontarget proteins, even within complex test solutions. This work represents a significant advancement in the field of biosensor technology, offering a fast, accurate, and reliable method for diagnosing viral infections and diseases.

Abstract:Norovirus is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis, a disease characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain. A rapid on-site identification of the virus from fecal samples of patients is a prerequisite for accurate medical management. Here, we demonstrate a rapid nucleic acid-based detection platform as an on-site biosensing tool that can concentrate viruses from fecal samples. Moreover, it can perform RNA extraction and identification, and signal amplification using G-quadruplex and hemin containing DNA probes (G-DNA probes) and graphene oxide (GO)-coated microbeads. Briefly, murine noroviruses are lysed without chemicals on the surface of the GO microbeads. Subsequently, the target RNA is hybridized with G-DNA probes, and the resultant RNA/G-DNA probe complex is separated from unbound G-DNA probes using GO beads and is mixed with the detection buffer (ABTS/H2O2). Presence of murine noroviruses causes a colorimetric change of the buffer from colorless to green. Thus, we integrated all processes required to detect murine noroviruses in stool samples in a simple foldable microfluidic chip. Moreover, it can detect 101 pfu of the virus in 30 min in a fecal sample.
