Abstract:Insect nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are pentameric ligand-gated ion channels mainly expressed in the central nervous system of insects. They are the directed targets of many insecticides, including neonicotinoids, which are the most widely used insecticides in the world. However, the development of resistance in pests and the negative impacts on bee pollinators affect the application of insecticides and have created a demand for alternatives. Thus, it is very important to understand the mode of action of these insecticides, which is not fully understood at the molecular level. In this study, we systematically examined the susceptibility of ten Drosophila melanogaster nAChR subunit mutants to eleven insecticides acting on nAChRs. Our results showed that there are several subtypes of nAChRs with distinct subunit compositions that are responsible for the toxicity of different insecticides. At least three of them are the major molecular targets of seven structurally similar neonicotinoids in vivo. Moreover, spinosyns may act exclusively on the α6 homomeric pentamers but not any other nAChRs. Behavioral assays using thermogenetic tools further confirmed the bioassay results and supported the idea that receptor activation rather than inhibition leads to the insecticidal effects of neonicotinoids. The present findings reveal native nAChR subunit interactions with various insecticides and have important implications for the management of resistance and the development of novel insecticides targeting these important ion channels.

Our work shows that these insecticides act on diverse receptor subtypes with distinct subunit compositions. Abstract:Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which is encoded by the ace gene, catalyzes the hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine to terminate nerve impulses at the postsynaptic membrane. AChE is a primary target of many insecticides including organophosphates (OP) and carbamates (CB). In this study, full-length cDNA sequences of two ace genes (Nlace1 and Nlace2) were sequenced from the brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens, the most destructive insect pest of rice crops. Nlace1 cDNA is 2842 nucleotides long and contains an ORF potentially encoding a 790 amino acid peptide. Nlace2 cDNA is 2852bp in length and contains an ORF that potentially encodes a 672 amino acid peptide. NlAChE1 has an identity of 40% with NlAChE2 at the amino acid sequence level. Phylogenetic analysis of 59 AChEs from 32 animal species showed that NlAChE1 is most closely related to AChE1s from Blattella germanica and Nephotettix cincticeps, while NlAChE2 is most closely related to AChE2 from N. cincticeps. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that Nlace1 is expressed at a much higher level than Nlace2 in all developmental stages and tissues, demonstrating that NlAChE1 may be the dominant AChE form of the two enzymes. This result will help reveal the resistance mechanism of N. lugens to organophosphorous and carbamate insecticides and promote development of more selective insecticides targeting the main NlAChE1.
Effects of RDL GABA Receptor Point Mutants on Susceptibility to Meta-Diamide and Isoxazoline Insecticides in Drosophila Melanogaster

Abstract:Ionotropic γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in insects, specifically those composed of the RDL (resistant to dieldrin) subunit, serve as important targets for commonly used synthetic insecticides. These insecticides belong to various chemical classes, such as phenylpyrazoles, cyclodienes, meta-diamides, and isoxazolines, with the latter two potentially binding to the transmembrane inter-subunit pocket. However, the specific amino acid residues that contribute to the high sensitivity of insect RDL receptors to these novel insecticides remain elusive. In this study, we investigated the susceptibility of seven distinct Drosophila melanogaster Rdl point mutants against four meta-diamide and isoxazoline insecticides: isocycloseram, fluxametamide, fluralaner, and broflanilide. Our findings indicate that, despite exhibiting increased sensitivity to fluralaner in vitro, the RdlI276C mutant showed resistance to isocycloseram and fluxametamide. Similarly, the double-points mutant RdlI276F+G279S also showed decreased sensitivity to the tested isoxazolines. On the other hand, the RdlG335M mutant displayed high levels of resistance to all tested insecticides. Molecular modeling and docking simulations further supported these findings, highlighting similar binding poses for these insecticides. In summary, our research provides robust in vivo evidence supporting the idea that the inter-subunit amino acids within transmembrane M1 and M3 domains form the binding site crucial for meta-diamide and isoxazoline insecticide interactions. This study highlights the complex interplay between mutations and insecticide susceptibility, paving the way for more targeted pest control strategies.
Functional Validation of A2′N Mutation of the RDL GABA Receptor Against Fipronil Via Molecular Modeling and Genome Engineering in Drosophila

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Insect RDL (resistant to dieldrin) receptors are essential pentameric ligand-gated chloride channels that mediate the neuroinhibitory effect of GABA, the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. These receptors serve as primary targets for various insecticides, including noncompetitive antagonists (NCAs) such as cyclodiene organochlorines and phenylpyrazoles, as well as allosteric modulators like meta-diamides and isoxazolines. This study focuses on a newly discovered A2'N mutation within the RDL receptors, identified in fipronil-resistant planthoppers. Despite in vitro electrophysiological studies have proposed its role in conferring target-site resistance, in vivo genetic functional validation of this mutation remains unexplored.RESULTS: Our research employed toxicity bioassays, assessing various Rdl genotypes against a spectrum of insecticides, including fipronil, & cupdot;-endosulfan, broflanilide, and isocycloseram. Results revealed distinct resistance profiles for A2'N and A2'S mutants, indicating different binding interactions of RDL receptors with NCAs. Significantly, the A2'N heterozygote showed substantial resistance to fipronil, despite its homozygous lethality. Molecular modeling and docking simulations further supported these findings, highlighting unique binding poses for fipronil and & cupdot;-endosulfan.CONCLUSION: This study confirmed that A2'N mutation of the RDL GABA receptor confer high resistance to fipronil in vivo. The observed resistance in A2'N mutants is likely attributable to a steric hindrance mechanism, wherein the introduction of larger side chains hampers fipronil binding, even in a heterozygous state.(c) 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract:At present, understanding of neonicotinoid toxicity in arthropods remains limited. We here evaluated the lethal and sublethal effects of acetamiprid in F 0 and F 1 generations of Binodoxys communis using a range of sublethal concentrations. The 10% lethal concentration (LC 10 ) and half lethal concentration (LC 25 ) of ACE had negative effects on the B. communis survival rate, adult longevity, parasitism rate, and emergence rate, and significantly prolonged the duration of the developmental cycle. ACE also had intergenerational effects, with some biological indices affected in the F 1 generation after pesticide exposure. Transcriptomic analysis demonstrated that differentially expressed genes were enriched in specific pathways including the amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, energy metabolism, exogenous metabolism, signal transduction, and glutathione metabolism pathways. These results indicated strong contact toxicity of ACE to B. communis , which may inhibit their biological control capacity. These results improve our understanding of the toxicological mechanisms of parasitic natural enemies in response to insecticide exposure.

Abstract:Hundreds of neurotoxic insecticides are currently in use. However, only a few direct targets have been identified. Here, using Drosophila and the insecticide flonicamid, we identified nicotinamidase (Naam) as a previous unidentified molecular target for an insecticide. Naam is expressed in chordotonal stretch-receptor neurons, and inhibition of Naam by a metabolite of flonicamid, TFNA-AM (4-trifluoromethylnicotinamide), induces accumulation of substrate nico-tinamide and greatly inhibits negative geotaxis. Engineered flies harboring a point mutation in the active site show insecticide resistance and defects in gravity sensing. Bees are resistant to flonicamid because of a gene duplication, resulting in the generation of a TFNA-AM-insensitive Naam. Our results, in combination with the absence of genes encoding Naam in vertebrate genomes, suggest that TFNA-AM and potential species-specific Naam inhibitors could be developed as novel insecticides, anthelmintics, and antimicrobials for agriculture and human health.

Abstract:The sweet potato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci, (Gennadius) (Hemiptera:Aleyrodidae) is a global pest of crops. Neonicotinoids are efficient insecticides used for control of this pest. Insecticidal targets of neonicotinoids are insect nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). Here, we characterized and cloned the full length of the nAChR β1 subunit (BTβ1) in B. tabaci and confirmed the consistency of BTβ1 in B. tabaci MEAM1 and MED. Expression levels of BTβ1 in different developmental stages and body parts of adults were investigated and compared in B. tabaci MED. dsRNA was prepared to knock down BTβ1 in adult B. tabaci and significantly decreases the susceptibility to five neonicotinoid insecticides, including imidacloprid, clothianidin, thiacloprid, nitenpyram, and dinotefuran. This study indicated BTβ1 as a notable site influencing the susceptibility of B. tabaci to neonicotinoids.
Imidacloprid effects on acetylcholinesterase and nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in Apis mellifera . Experimental and molecular modeling approaches

Abstract:Although the neonicotinoid insecticides have good selectivity towards insects rather than vertebrates, they have severe effects on honeybee production and pollination activities. Therefore, the effects of imidacloprid (IMI), the most used neonicotinoid, on the two main bioreceptors, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and nicotinic acetylcholine receptor alpha subunit (nAChRα1) of honeybees were examined to identify their roles in honeybee toxicity and possible binding sites which assist in selecting and designing neonicotinoids. In vivo , IMI showed a high inhibitory effect on AChE (IC50 5.63 mg/L); however, the effect was much lower in vitro experiment (IC50 719 mg/L). This result induced us to examine the IMI effect on AChE gene expression which revealed that the AChE-2 gene expression was severely affected by IMI explaining the observed high enzyme inhibition. In addition, although toxicity increased by increasing exposure to IMI (LC50 2.9 mg/L after 4h and 0.75 mg/L after 48h), AChE was not elevated (IC50 5.63 and 5.52 mg/L respectively). Besides, Despite resuming most enzyme activity (77% during 2 h and 84.14% after 4 h), a high mortality level was observed with LC50 2.9 mg/L. These results reinforced that the observed high toxicity is a multifactor process. Accordingly, Molecular modeling and docking of IMI into honeybee AChE and nAChRα1were also performed to examine their possible interactions and identify the important binding sites. Results models indicated that the first two binding sites in AChE were found in the esteratic subunit in the active site explaining the observed in vitro inhibition. In nAChRα1, four of the highest five free energy binding sites are located in the large TM3-TM4 loop and one in the extracellular loops. Consequently, the present work revealed that IMI toxicity is attributed to various factors including direct interaction with both AChE and nAChRα1 as well as downregulating AChE-2 gene expression.

Abstract:The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters C and G subfamilies have been reported to be involved in insecticide detoxification, with most studies showing increased gene transcript levels in response to insecticide exposure. Our previous studies have suggested that ABCC and G transporters participate in cyantraniliprole and thiamethoxam resistance of Aphis gossypii. In this study, we focused on the potential roles of the ABCC and G transporters of an A. gossypii field population (SDR) in neonicotinoid detoxification. The results of leaf dip bioassays showed 629.17- and 346.82-fold greater resistance to thiamethoxam and imidacloprid in the SDR strain, respectively, than in the susceptible strain (SS). Verapamil, an ABC inhibitor, was used for synergism bioassays, and the results showed synergistic effects with thiamethoxam, with synergistic ratios (SRs) of 2.07 and 6.68 in the SS and SDR strains, respectively. In addition to thiamethoxam, verapamil increased imidacloprid toxicity by 1.68- and 1.62-fold in the SS and SDR strains respectively. Then, the expression levels of several ABCC and G transporters were analyzed in different treatments. We found that the transcript levels of AgABCG4, AgABCG17, AgABCG26, AgMRP8 and AgMRP12 were higher in the SDR strain than in the SS strain. The mRNA expression of AgABCG4, AgABCG7, AgABCG13, AgABCG17, AgABCG26, AgMRP8 and AgMRP12 in the SDR strain was increased after thiamethoxam and imidacloprid exposure. The results of transgenic Drosophila melanogaster bioassays suggested that overexpression of AgABCG4, AgABCG7, AgABCG13, AgABCG17, AgABCG26, AgMRP8 and AgMRP12 in transgenic flies was sufficient to confer thiamethoxam and imidacloprid resistance, and AgABCG4, AgABCG7, AgABCG13, AgABCG26 and AgMRP12 may be related to α-cypermethrin cross-resistance with weak effects. In addition, the knockdown of AgABCG4, AgABCG13, AgABCG26, AgMRP8 and AgMRP12, and the knockdown of AgABCG7 and AgABCG26 increased thiamethoxam and imidacloprid mortality in the SDR strain, respectively. Our results suggest that changes in the expression levels of ABCC and G transporters may contribute to neonicotinoid detoxification in the SDR strain, and provide a foundation for clarify the potential roles of ABCC and G transporters in insecticide resistance.

RNA sequencing analysis reveals the role of choline acetyltransferase in regulating development, reproduction, and insecticide susceptibility in Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

Abstract:Choline acetyltransferase (Tcchat) is essential for metamorphosis, reproduction, and susceptibility to insecticide in Tribolium castaneum. However, the mechanisms through which Tcchat contributes to these biological processes remain poorly understood. Here we report the findings of RNA sequencing‐based transcriptome profiling of T. castaneum following RNA interference against Tcchat. In all, 173 differentially expressed genes were identified: 120 upregulated genes and 53 downregulated genes. Gene Ontology analysis classified the genes into 30 functional groups. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis showed that the genes were distributed over 22 different pathways. Silencing Tcchat reduced the activity of endopeptidase and inhibited regulation of protein decomposition in the beetles. Hence, knockdown of Tcchat inhibited the synthesis of chitinase and serine protease, which disturbed embryonic development in T. castaneum, thus affecting its development and reproduction. RNA interference of Tcchat also suppressed the synthesis of cytochrome P450 in the extracellular region and adversely affected normal functioning of the lysosomal pathway, which might have hindered the insects' ability to recognize, phagocytose, and degrade exogenous toxic substances, resulting in increased mortality. Furthermore, knockdown of Tcchat increased the susceptibility of larvae to carbamate and organophosphate insecticides, which supports the notion that Tcchat is indeed involved in susceptibility to insecticide in T. castaneum. Finally, Tcchat knockdown adults showed progressively reduced locomotor activity. These results provide novel insights into biological processes affected by Tcchat and provide a potential theoretical basis for the biological control of T. castaneum.

Unravelling nicotinic receptor and ligand features underlying neonicotinoid knockdown actions on the malaria vector mosquito Anopheles gambiae

Abstract:With the spread of resistance to long-established insecticides targeting Anopheles malaria vectors, understanding the actions of compounds newly identified for vector control is essential. With new commercial vector-control products containing neonicotinoids under development, we investigate the actions of 6 neonicotinoids (imidacloprid, thiacloprid, clothianidin, dinotefuran, nitenpyram and acetamiprid) on 13 Anopheles gambiae nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) subtypes produced by expression of combinations of the Agα1, Agα2, Agα3, Agα8 and Agβ1 subunits in Xenopus laevis oocytes, the Drosophila melanogaster orthologues of which we have previously shown to be important in neonicotinoid actions. The presence of the Agα2 subunit reduces neonicotinoid affinity for the mosquito nAChRs, whereas the Agα3 subunit increases it. Crystal structures of the acetylcholine binding protein (AChBP), an established surrogate for the ligand-binding domain, with dinotefuran bound, shows a unique target site interaction through hydrogen bond formation and CH-N interaction at the tetrahydrofuran ring. This is of interest as dinotefuran is also under trial as the toxic element in baited traps. Multiple regression analyses show a correlation between the efficacy of neonicotinoids for the Agα1/Agα2/Agα8/Agβ1 nAChR, their hydrophobicity and their rate of knockdown of adult female An. gambiae, providing new insights into neonicotinoid features important for malaria vector control.
Swift regulation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) enables the rapid detoxification of thiacloprid in pine sawyer beetles

Abstract:Thiacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, has become one of the major control agents for the pine sawyer beetle, Monochamus alternatus Hope, however, the mechanism of detoxification is unknown. We demonstrate that glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are involved in the rapid detoxification of thiacloprid in M. alternatus larvae. The activity of detoxification enzyme GSTs was significantly higher, while the activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) was inhibited under thiacloprid exposure. The inhibition of AChE activity led to lethal over-stimulation of the cholinergic synapse, which was then released by the rapid downregulation of nAChRs. Meanwhile, GSTs were overexpressed to detoxify thiacloprid accordingly. A total of 3 nAChR and 12 GST genes were identified from M. alternatus, among which ManAChRα2 and MaGSTs1 were predicted to confer thiacloprid tolerance. RNA interference (RNAi) was subsequently conducted to confirm the function of ManAChRα2 and MaGSTs1 genes in thiacloprid detoxification. The successful knock-down of the ManAChRα2 gene led to lower mortality of M. alternatus under LC30 thiacloprid treatment, and the suppression of the MaGSTs1 gene increased the mortality rate of M. alternatus. However, the mortality rate has no significant difference with controls when thiacloprid was fed together with both dsMaGSTs1 and dsManAChRα2. Molecular docking modeled the molecular basis for interaction between MaGSTs1/ManAChR and thiacloprid. This study highlights the important roles that ManAChRα2 and MaGSTs1 genes play in thiacloprid detoxification through transcriptional regulation and enzymatic metabolization, and proposes a new avenue for integrated pest management that combines pesticides and RNAi technology as an efficient strategy for M. alternatus control.

Abstract:Toxicology and Industrial Health, Ahead of Print. At present, the reproductive toxicology of neonicotinoids has received greater attention, however, its potential mechanisms are still not fully understood. Acetamiprid (ACE) is a new-generation neonicotinoid and has become a ubiquitous contaminant in the environment. This study aimed to investigate the toxic effects of ACE in TM3 Leydig cells based on transcriptome analysis. The viability and apoptosis of TM3 cells exposed to different concentrations of ACE were assessed by CCK8 and flow cytometry, respectively. After ACE exposure, transcriptome analysis was performed to screen differential expression genes (DEGs), followed by qPCR verification. Results showed that ACE exposure resulted in a time- and dose-dependent decrease in the viability of TM3 cells (p < .05). ACE also exerted a dose-dependent pro-apoptotic effect on TM3 cells. Results of RNA-seq showed that 1477 DEGs were obtained, of which 539 DEGs were up-regulated and 938 DEGs were down-regulated. GO and KEGG analyses of DEGs showed that DNA replication and cell cycle might be the key mechanisms for the cytotoxicity of ACE. qPCR results demonstrated that Mdm2, Cdkn1a (p21) and Gadd45 were significantly increased, and Pcna, Ccna2 (CycA), Ccnb1 (CycB), Ccne1 (CycE), and Cdk1 were significantly decreased, indicating that ACE exposure might promote G1/S and G2/M cell cycle arrest. Additionally, FoxO, p53, and HIF-1 signaling pathways and ferroptosis might play important roles in ACE-induced reproductive toxicity. Collectively, this study provides new perspectives into the mechanism of ACE-induced reproductive toxicity and lays a theoretical foundation for the in-depth study of non-target toxicity mechanisms of neonicotinoid insecticides.

Abstract:Several neonicotinoids have recently been shown to activate the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) on human neurons. Moreover, imidacloprid (IMI) and other members of this pesticide family form a set of diverse metabolites within crops. Among these, desnitro-imidacloprid (DN-IMI) is of special toxicological interest, as there is evidence (i) for human dietary exposure to this metabolite, (ii) and that DN-IMI is a strong trigger of mammalian nicotinic responses. We set out here to quantify responses of human nAChRs to DN-IMI and an alternative metabolite, IMI-olefin. To evaluate toxicological hazards, these data were then compared to those of IMI and nicotine. Ca2+-imaging experiments on human neurons showed that DN-IMI exhibits an agonistic effect on nAChRs at sub-micromolar concentrations (equipotent with nicotine) while IMI-olefin activated the receptors less potently (in a similar range as IMI). Direct experimental data on the interaction with defined receptor subtypes were obtained by heterologous expression of various human nAChR subtypes in Xenopus laevis oocytes and measurement of the transmembrane currents evoked by exposure to putative ligands. DN-IMI acted on the physiologically important human nAChR subtypes α7, α3β4, and α4β2 (high-sensitivity variant) with similar potency as nicotine. IMI and IMI-olefin were confirmed as nAChR agonists, although with 2-3 orders of magnitude lower potency. Molecular docking studies, using receptor models for the α7 and α4β2 nAChR subtypes supported an activity of DN-IMI similar to that of nicotine. In summary, these data suggest that DN-IMI functionally affects human neurons similar to the well-established neurotoxicant nicotine by triggering α7 and several non-α7 nAChRs.

Abstract:Spodoptera exigua (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) has been responsible for causing considerable and widespread agricultural losses worldwide. Owing to strong selective pressure, S. exigua showed increased resistance to Lufenuron (LUF). Consequently, RNA interference (RNAi)-based insecticides had more benefits than chemical insecticides. Therefore, to enhance the insecticidal activity of LUF to S. exigua, in the present study, we aimed to elucidate the impact of double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) on S. exigua larval susceptibility to LUF. First, the transcriptome of S. exigua was sequenced following the treatment with LUF. By comparing the upregulated and downregulated GO enrichment, chitin binding and chitin metabolic processes were the significantly enriched pathways. According to transcriptome sequencing, 8 genes associated with chitin biosynthesis, 8 chitin degradation genes, and 17 cuticle protein genes were obtained. UDP-N-acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase (UAP) and Chitin synthase A (CHSA) showed significantly downregulated expression after treatment with different sublethal doses of LUF. Downregulation of UAP increased mortality from 31.97% to 47.91% when the larvae were exposed to LUF. A significant increase in the mortality of S. exigua from 30.63% to 50.19% was observed following LUF administration after dsCHSA. In addition, the expression analysis of genes associated with chitin biosynthesis was significantly changed after LUF treatment, dsRNAs-RNAi, and their combination (LUF-dsRNAs). Significant differences were observed in the chitin content between the control group at 72 h after treatments. Results of the present study can help further elucidate the understanding of the combined effects of RNAi and LUF on S. exigua. Additionally, this research provides a suitable foundation for future studies with the aim to develop an efficient method of delivery for large-scale pest control in the fields.

Abstract:Intrinsic membrane proteins are embedded in the lipid bilayer so that the polypeptides come in contact with the non-polar region of the bilayer. There are two major types of intrinsic proteins: those with most of their mass outside the cytoplasm (Type I) and those with most of their mass inside the cytoplasm (Type II). In the latter group are the membrane transport systems. The anion exchange system of the human erythrocyte is a dimer of band 3 polypeptides. These polypeptides span the bilary, have most of their mass in the cytoplasm, and are glycosylated. About 20-25% of the polypeptide, however, is in the bilayer. Arguments are presented to support the view that the intramembrane segments of the protein are alpha-helical and that the major protein-protein interactions between the subunits are in the cytoplasmic portion of the protein.

Abstract:The anthranilic diamide insecticide chlorantraniliprole is highly effective against Lepidoptera pests, but the underlying mechanisms of toxic effects of chlorantraniliprole exposures for adapting to the chemical environment are poorly known in fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E.Smith). FAW being one of the most pests of maize in Latin America, suddenly appeared in China in 2019 and spread rapidly. In this study, using bioassay and transcriptomic and biochemical analyses, we comprehensively investigated gene expression changes of third instar larvae in response to different sublethal concentrations (LC10 and LC30) of chlorantraniliprole in this insect. Exposure to LC10 chlorantraniliprole (0.73 mg/L) causes 1266 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), of which 578 are up-regulated and 688 down-regulated. Exposure to LC30 (2.49 mg/L) causes differential expression of 3637 DEGs (1545 up-, 2092 down-regulated). Interestingly, the LC30 treatment led to a significant increase in the number of DEGs compared to that of the LC10, indicating a concentration effect manner. Moreover, enrichment analysis identified important DEGs belonging to specific categories, such as amino acid, carbohydrate, lipid, energy, xenobiotics metabolisms, signal transduction, and posttranslational modification pathways, and enzymes activities in enriched pathways were significantly altered at the LC10 and LC30, which matched transcriptome analysis to mediate toxic mechanisms. The DEGs encoding detoxification-related genes were identified and validated by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), which correlated with the RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) data. To our knowledge, these findings provide the first toxicity mechanisms for a better understanding of chlorantraniliprole action and detoxification in FAW and other insect pests at molecular level.
