Abstract:OBJECTIVE:Observe therapeutic effect of suspended moxibustion on temperature-sensitive acupoints for chronic prostatitis, to explore a new therapy.METHODS:Sixty cases were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group (n = 30 in each group). The suspended moxibustion on temperature-sensitive acupoints plus herbalenema were practiced in the observation group. The moxibustion at Guanyuan (CV 4), Zhongji (CV 3), Shenshu (BL 23) combined with herbalenema were practiced in the control group. The score of syndromes, the score of symptom indexes (NIH-CPSI), and WBC in prostatic secretion (EPS-WBC) were used as observation index for chronic prostatitis. The therapeutic effect was compared between the two groups.RESULTS:The markedly cured rate was 50.0% in the observation group, better than that of 26.7% in the control group (P < 0.05). The score of syndromes, NIH-CPSI and EPS-WBC in the observation group were lower than the control group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:The therapeutic effect of suspended moxibustion on temperature-sensitive acupoints plus medication is better than moxibustion plus medication for chronic prostatitis in improvement of symptoms and EPS-WBC.
Clinical observation of the moxibustion stimulation and moxibustion effect in treating allergic rhinitis on Shangyintang acupoint by mild-warm moxibustion

Abstract:Objective:To compare different moxibustion stimulation (heat-sensitive moxibustion stimulation vs non-heat-sensitive moxibustion stimulation) on Shangyintang acupoint in the treatment of allergic rhinitis.Methods:A total of 60 patients with allergic rhinitis were divided into heat-sensitive moxibustion and non-heat-sensitive moxibustion groups in accordance with their reactions to moxa-heat stimulation.Mild-warm moxibustion was distanced from skin 2-3cm and applied to bilateral Shangyintang acupoint for 45 minutes.The degree was warm but not hot.Moxibustion treatment was conducted once daily for 20 days.Patients with occurrence of heat-sensitivity being equal to and more than 3 times during the treatment were assigned to heat-sensitive group and those with occurrence of heat-sensitivity less than 3 times assigned to non-heat-sensitive group.The changes of clinical symptoms before and after treatment in two groups were observed.Results:The nasal symptoms scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment (P＜0.05),and the heat-sensitive group was better than the non-heatsensitive group (P＜0.05);the effective rate of the heat-sensitive group was 73.53％,compared with the non-heat-sensitive group,the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion:Heat-sensitive moxibustion is significantly better than nonheat-sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of allergic rhinitis.The emergence of the heat-sensitivity to moxibustion is the key to improve the curative effect of moxibustion therapy.
Combining traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine and psychological intervention in treatment of 110 cases with perimenopausal syndrome

Abstract:Objective:To explore the clinical efficacies of GengNianAnKang decoction combined with low-dose hormone and psychological intervention in treatment of perimenopausal syndrome.Methods:A total of 220 cases were diagnosed as perimenopausal syndrome in outpatient of the hospital from January 2006 to May 2010,then they were randomly divided into two groups: 109 cases in control group were treated with low-dose hormone replacement therapy(HRT),while 111 cases in observation group were treated with GengNianAnKang decoction combined with low-dose HRT.The cases in the two groups were treated with psychological intervention for three courses of treatment,then evaluation of therapeutic efficiency was performed.Results:After three courses of treatment,the curative rates in observation group and control group were 51.82% and 33.33%,respectively,there was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The total effective rates in observation group and control group were 98.18% and 87.96%,respectively,there was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).After treatment,there was significant difference in serum estradiol level and the change of thickness of endometrium in intergroup contrast(P0.01),but there was no significant difference in intragroup contrast(P0.05).Conclusion:GengNianAnKang decoction combined with low-dose HRT and psychological intervention are effective in treatment of perimenopausal syndrome,the safety is high,and the method is worthy to be popularized in clinic.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Tamoxifen,Methyltestosterone combined with Xiaojin Pills for treating breast lobular hyperplasia. Methods Totally 206 patients with breast lobular hyperplasia were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,103 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Tamoxifen (twice a day,one tablet each time)combined with Methyltestosterone (once a day,two pills each time),on this basis,the observation group was given Xiaojin Pills (twice a day,two bagseach time). The patients in two groups were given treatment from 15 d before menstruation starts to date,the course of treatment was 3 months. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 90. 29%,which was significantly higher than 78. 64% of the control group(P < 0. 05). After treatment,the size of breast lumps and the degree of breast tenderness in the two groups were significantly improved than those before treatment (P < 0. 05 ),and the observation group improved more obviously (P < 0. 05). After treatment,the levels of serum PRL and E2 in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,while the level of progesterone was higher than that before treatment,and the change in the observation group was more significant(P < 0. 05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups. Conclusion Tamoxifen,Methyltestosterone combined with Xiaojin Pills for treating breast lobular hyperplasia has good effect and safety.
Effect and nursing of point application therapy combined with Jianruling Decoction on breast hyperplasia patients with syndrome of imbalance of Chong-Ren meridian

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of point application therapy and Jianruling Decoction on breast hyperplasia patients with syndrome of imbalance of Chong-Ren meridian. Methods 62 cases of breast hyperplasia patients with syndrome of imbalance of Chong-Ren meridian from May 2011 to May 2013 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were selected as study objects. They were treated with point application therapy and Jianruling Decoction, acupoint sticking nursing, diet nursing and mental nursing. The levels of sex hormone, pain degree, lump size and hardness were observed before and after treatment. Results The levels E2and PRL after treatment[(121.66±0.25) ng/L,(17.70±9.93) μg/L] were lower than those before treatment [(150.21±0.29) ng/L,(25.11±10.97) μg/L],progestogen [(18.37±7.75) μg/L] was increased compared with that before treatment [(12.25±6.05) μg/L], the differences were statistically significant(all P 0.05). Pain was relieved, lump size was shrinked and lump hardness was declined after taking treatment as well. Conclusion Point application therapy and Jianruling decoction have the effect of regulating the level of endocrines, relieving pain, declining the size and hardness of the lump, and promte health recovery on breast hyperplasia patients with syndrome of imbalance of Chong-Ren meridian.

[Clinical observation of chronic perianal eczema treated with auricular point sticking therapy and western medication]

Abstract:Objective: To observe the differences in the therapeutic effects on chronic perianal eczema between auricular point sticking therapy and auricular sticking pseudo-press therapy on the basis of the treatment with western medication. Methods: Ninety patients were randomized into an auricular therapy group and an auricular pseudo-press therapy group (pseudo group), 45 cases in each one. The western medication was used in both of the groups. In the auricular therapy group, the auricular sticking method with semen vaccariae was added at Fengxi (SF1,zi), Shenshangxian (TG2p), Duipingjian (AT1,2,4i), Fei (CO14), Pi (CO13), Gangmen (HX5). The patients were advised to press each auricular point every day. In the pseudo group, the plaster was applied to the same auricular points without semen vaccariae used and pressing manipulation given. The auricular sticking therapy was used once every three days in the two groups. The treatment for 2 weeks was as one session and one or two sessions of treatment were given accordingly. The severity of perianal itching, the area of skin lesion, the form of skin lesion and the score of dermatology life quality index (DLQI) and the clinical therapeutic effects were compared before and after treatment in the two groups. The adverse reaction and recurrence rate in 1-year follow-up visit were observed during treatment. Results: After treatment, the itching degree, the area of skin lesion, the form of skin lesion and DLQI score were all reduced apparently as compared with those before treatment in the patients of the two groups (all P<0.05). The results in the auricular sticking therapy group were better than those in the pseudo group (all P<0.05). The curative and markedly effective rate and the total effective rate in the auricular sticking therapy group were apparently better than those in the pseudo group[52.3% (23/44) vs 19.0% (8/42), 97.7% (43/44) vs 76.2% (32/42), both P<0.05]. The recurrence rate in the auricular sticking therapy group was lower apparently than that in the pseudo group[7.0% (3/43) vs 37.5% (12/32), P<0.05]. No severe adverse reactions were found during the treatment in the two groups. Conclusions: The auricular sticking therapy combined with western medication effectively release itching in chronic perianal eczema and local skin lesions, improve the living quality and reduce recurrence rate.

Abstract:Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking for girls aged 3-8 years with incomplete precocious puberty (IPP). Methods: Sixty girls with IPP were randomly divided into an observation group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped off) and a control group (30 cases, 2 cases were eliminated). The girls in the control group were treated with healthy diet and proper exercise for 12 weeks. On the basis of the treatment in the control group, the girls in the observation group were treated with acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking. The acupuncture was applied at Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Guilai (ST 29), etc., the needles were retained for 20 min, acupuncture was given twice a week (once every 3 days). The auricular point sticking was applied at Luanchao (TF2), Neishengzhiqi (TF2), Neifenmi (CO18), Yuanzhong (AT2,3,4i), etc., twice a week. The treatment was given for 12 weeks. Before treatment, after treatment and in follow-up after 12 weeks of treatment completion, the Tanner stage of breast, serum contents of sex hormone (luteinizing hormone [LH], follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH], estradiol [E2]) were observed. The ovarian volume, the number of follicles with diameter>4 mm, and the uterine volume were measured by abdominal color Doppler ultrasound. In addition, the safety of the observation group was evaluated. Results: Compared with before treatment, the Tanner stage of breast in the observation group was improved after treatment and in follow-up (P<0.05); after treatment and in follow-up, the Tanner stage of breast in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, the serum levels of LH and E2 in the observation group were increased (P<0.05), and the volume of bilateral ovaries was larger (P<0.05) in follow-up. Compared with before treatment, the serum contents of LH, FSH and E2 in the control group were increased (P<0.05), the volume of bilateral ovaries was larger (P<0.05), and the number of follicles was increased (P<0.05) after treatment and in follow-up. The serum levels of LH, FSH and E2 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), the volume of bilateral ovaries was smaller than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the number of follicles was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, the uterine volume in the two groups was larger in follow-up (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups after treatment and in follow-up (P>0.05). During the treatment, 3 cases in the observation group had slight abdominal pain and subcutaneous blood stasis, without serious adverse reactions. Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking could improve the Tanner stage of breast, reduce the level of sex hormone, slow down the development and maturation of ovary and follicle, and control the degree and speed of sexual development in girls aged 3-8 years with IPP.
Limited Utility of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Determining the Primary Site of Disease in Patients With Inconclusive Endometrial Biopsy

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the utility of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in determining whether primary disease site is cervical or endometrial in patients with inconclusive preoperative endometrial biopsy. Methods: We retrospectively identified all patients who underwent pelvic MRI and who had a preoperative diagnosis of cervical or endometrial cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center between 1990 and 2006. The subset in which endometrial biopsy did not clarify the primary disease site was analyzed. Magnetic resonance imaging results were compared with postoperative histopathologic findings. Results: A total of 168 patients who underwent MRI who had a preoperative diagnosis of cervical or endometrial cancer were identified. Of these patients, 51 had an inconclusive endometrial biopsy. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested an endometrial primary tumor without cervical invasion in 28 patients, of whom 21 (75%) actually had such a tumor and 7 had an endometrial primary tumor with cervical invasion. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested an endometrial primary tumor with cervical invasion in 3 patients, all of whom had such a tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested a cervical primary tumor in 6 patients, of whom 5 had such a tumor and 1 had an endometrial primary tumor without cervical invasion. Magnetic resonance imaging was inconclusive (did not clarify primary disease site or no lesion visualized) in 14 (27%) of 51 patients, 6 of whom had an endocervical primary tumor or an endometrial tumor with cervical involvement. Overall, preoperative MRI was either inaccurate or unhelpful in 22 (43%) of 51 patients. Conclusion: Preoperative MRI in patients with inconclusive endometrial biopsy is inaccurate or unhelpful in nearly half of patients.

Abstract:AIMS Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) has cholesterol lowering and anti-inflammatory effects and bile acids are reported to exert vasodilator effects; all of these properties might be considered desirable in a drug used in the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease. We investigated a hypothesis that UDCA may dilate arteries and the mechanism of action. METHODS We evaluated effects of a 6-week treatment with UDCA in 11 coronary heart disease patients on endothelium-dependent (acetylcholine-induced) and -independent (nitroprusside-induced) vasodilatations in forearm vasculature by strain-gauge plethysmography. Healthy individuals (n=14) served as baseline controls. RESULTS The percentage increase by acetylcholine in the flow of the infused arm relative to the non-infused arm of coronary heart disease patients during the trial remained unaltered, but vasodilatation to NG-monomethyl-l-arginine+acetylcholine was improved by 161+/-27% with UDCA vs 83+/-22% with placebo (mean difference 91% [95% CI 35%, 147%], P=0.016). CONCLUSIONS Six weeks' UDCA therapy improved endothelium-dependent nitric oxide-independent vasodilatation, which might maintain arterial flow in coronary heart disease patients under conditions of impaired nitric oxide production.

Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of pricking-cupping combined with auricular thumbtack needle for postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) of qi stagnation and blood stasis on chest and waist. Methods: A total of 98 patients with PHN of qi stagnation and blood stasis on chest and waist were randomized into an observation group (49 cases, 1 case was eliminated, 1 case dropped out) and a control group (49 cases, 1 case dropped out). In the observation group, treatment of pricking-cupping combined with auricular thumbtack needle was delivered, pricking and cupping were applied at Jiaji points (EX-B 2) at the related spinal segments corresponding to the pain sites and regional ashi points, once every other day, auricular thumbtack needle was applied at Xin (CO15), Shenmen (TF4), Neifenmi (CO18), Pizhixia (AT4), etc., once every 3 days. In the control group, pregabalin capsule was taken orally, 75 mg a time, twice a day. The treatment of 4 weeks was required in the two groups. Before and after treatment, the scores of TCM symptom, visual analogue scale (VAS), Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) were observed, the serum levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG), interleukin-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP) were detected, and the clinical efficacy and safety were evaluated in the two groups. Results: After treatment, the item scores and total scores of TCM symptom, as well as the scores of VAS, PSQI, SDS and SAS were decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); the item scores of pruritus degree, tactile sensitivity, skin numbness and total score of TCM symptom, as well as the scores of VAS, PSQI, SDS and SAS in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of IgG were increased (P<0.05), while the serum levels of IL-6 and CRP were decreased (P<0.05) compared with those before treatment in the two groups; in the observation group, the serum level of IgG was higher (P<0.05), while the serum levels of IL-6 and CRP were lower (P<0.05) than those in the control group. The total effective rate was 95.7% (45/47) in the observation group, which was superior to 77.1% (37/48) in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence rate of adverse reaction was 6.4% (3/47) in the observation group, which was lower than 12.5% (6/48) in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Pricking-cupping combined with auricular thumbtack needle can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms in patients with PHN of qi stagnation and blood stasis on chest and waist, reduce the pigmentation of herpes and improve itch or burning, numb sensations in the skin lesions, improve the sleep quality and relieve anxiety and depression.

Abstract:A case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy presenting with chest pain and dyspnoea was followed for 18 years. During this time the patient showed a progressive loss of cardiac murmurs and over the last 12 months of life developed a dilatated cardiomyopathy associated with congestive heart failure, supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
[Clinical observation of auricular point sticking combined with western medicine for preventing and treating postoperative complications of external excision and internal ligation on mixed hemorrhoid]

Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of auricular point sticking before operation for postoperative complications of external excision and internal ligation on mixed hemorrhoid. Methods: Eighty patients with mixed hemorrhoid were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. In the control group, paracetamol and dihydrocodeine tartrate tablets were applied with oral administration 1 h after operation, 510 mg each time, twice a day; at the same time, diosmin tablets were treated with oral administration, 0.9 g each time, twice a day. Three days' treatments were required successively. In the observation group, auricular point sticking was used before operation based on the treatment in the control group. The auricular points of Shen (Co10), Pangguang (CO9), Shenmen (TF4), Pizhixia (AT4), Jiaogan (AH6a) and Gangmen (HX5) were selected. The patients were asked to press the points 3-6 times per day, 3-5 min each time, 3 days' treatment in total. The scores of the postoperative complications in the 1st and the 2nd days were compared between the two groups such as pain, edema, hematochezia, retention of urine, etc. Results: After operation, the scores of pain, edema, hematochezia, retention of urine in the 2nd day were all decreased obviously than those in the 1st day in the two groups (all P<0.05); and the scores of pain, edema, hematochezia, retention of urine in the 1st and the 2nd days of the observation group were lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Auricular point sticking before operation combined with conventional western medicine with oral administration for preventing and treating postoperative complications of external excision and internal ligation on mixed hemorrhoid achieves positive and reliable efficacy.
Clinical application and effect evaluation of acupoint thread embedding therapy and traditional Chinese medicine treatment based on menstrual cycle characteristics in the management of breast hyperplasia: An observational study

Abstract:To evaluate the effectiveness of the combination of acupoint embedding therapy and traditional Chinese medicine dialectical treatment regimen in improving clinical symptoms, promoting tumor regression, controlling adverse reactions and complications, and enhancing patient satisfaction by comparing and analyzing the clinical data of 120 breast tumor patients. One hundred twenty patients with breast cancer were divided into a treatment group (60 cases) and a control group (60 cases) according to different treatment plans. Patients in the treatment group received a combination of acupoint embedding therapy and traditional Chinese medicine dialectical treatment based on different time points of the menstrual cycle. Including the proportion of reduction in the number of breast masses, the proportion of reduction in mass size, changes in pain severity scores, tumor regression rate, regression time, incidence of adverse reactions and complications, and patient satisfaction. Statistical software was used to analyze the data to evaluate differences between the 2 groups. In terms of clinical symptoms, the proportion of reduction in the number of breast masses in the treatment group averaged 50%, significantly higher than the 25% in the control group; the proportion of reduction in mass size averaged 40%, also higher than the 15% in the control group; and the improvement in pain severity scores was also superior to the control group. Regarding tumor regression, the tumor regression rate in the treatment group reached 85%, with an average regression time of 6.2 weeks, both significantly better than the 55% and 9.8 weeks in the control group. In terms of adverse reactions and complications, the incidence rate in the treatment group was relatively low, and no serious adverse events occurred. Patient satisfaction surveys showed that the treatment group had significantly higher satisfaction with treatment effectiveness, treatment process, and physician service attitude compared to the control group. Based on clinical data from 120 breast tumor patients, the results of this study indicate that breast tumor patients treated with a specific treatment regimen have significant advantages in improving clinical symptoms, tumor regression, controlling adverse reactions and complications, and patient satisfaction. This treatment regimen has high clinical application value and deserves further promotion.

Abstract:Ethnopharmacological relevance: Xiaojin Pills is a classic prescription for the treatment of mammary glands hyperplasia with a history of nearly 300 years, and is also the first choice of Chinese patent medicine for the clinical treatment of mammary glands hyperplasia in contemporary traditional Chinese medicine clinic. Clinical and animal studies have shown that Xiaojin Pills has the effects of anti-mammary glands hyperplasia, promoting blood circulation, anti-inflammation and analgesia. However, its initial administration method was "taking orally after soaked with Chinese Baijiu", the modern method was changed to "taking orally with water" in recent 20 years. Whether there is any difference in the efficacy of the two administration methods is still unknown. Aim of the study: To reveal the difference in efficacy and metabolic mechanism of anti-mammary gland hyperplasia between the oral administration of Xiaojin Pills accompanied with Chinese Baijiu (XJP&B) and water (XJP&W). Materials and methods: COX-2 inhibition rate test and anti-platelet aggregation activity test were used to investigate the efficacy difference between the 40 vol% Chinese Baijiu and water extracts of Xiaojin Pills on anti-inflammatory and blood-activating in vitro. Kunming male mice (20 ± 5 g) and SD female rats (200-220 g) were orally treated with XJP&B and XJP&W, respectively. Then the difference in anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects between XJP&B and XJP&W were evaluated via xylene-induced ear swelling test, formaldehyde-induced pain test, and acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. Determination of nipple diameter, pathological examination of mammary gland tissue, determination of serum E2, P and FSH content and hemorheological parameters of rats with mammary gland hyperplasia were performed to explore the efficacy difference in anti-mammary gland hyperplasia between XJP&B and XJP&W. Metabolomics was used to study the difference of anti-mammary gland hyperplasia mechanism between XJP&B and XJP&W. Results: The results showed that the effect of XJP&B was superior to that of XJP&W in anti-platelet aggregation, inhibition of inflammation and pain, and anti-mammary gland hyperplasia. Interestingly, the advantages were more significant under low-dose condition. In addition, the mechanism of the two combinations against mammary gland hyperplasia was indeed different. Their common metabolic pathways include tryptophan metabolism and alanine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid metabolism. However, Chinese Baijiu and XJP&B also have additional regulatory effects on linoleic acid metabolic pathway. Conclusion: In brief, this research demonstrated that the efficacy of XJP&B was better than that of XJP&W in activating the blood, anti-inflammation, analgesia and anti-mammary gland hyperplasia, which means that XJP&B has synergistic and superior effects. The special dose-effect relationship under the condition of XJP&B was also found, laying the foundation for clinical treatment to reduce the dosage and shorten the medication cycle, which is beneficial to reduce the economic burden of patients.

Abstract:Objective: To compare the effect differences between auricular intradermal needling combined with erjian (HX6,7i) bloodletting and oral administration of western medicine, and to explore the efficacy of neuroendocrine level in patients with perimenopausal insomnia. Methods: Ninety patients were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 45 cases in each one. In the observation group, auricular intradermal needling combined with erjian (HX6,7i) bloodletting were adopted alternately in the two ears. The auricular points were shen (CO10), xin (CO15), gan (CO12), shenmen (TF4), jiaogan (AH6a), neifenmi (CO18) and erjian (HX6,7i). The treatment was required once 3 days on the auricular points of one side alternatively. Oral administration of estazolam (1mg each day) was applied in the control group for 2 courses, 4 weeks as 1 course, once a day. The scores of Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), the levels of serum estrogen (E2), 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) were valuated in the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the total scores of PSQI reduced in the two groups (both P<0.05), and the improvements of sleeping quality, sleeping time, sleeping difficulty, daytime dysfunction and the total PSQI score in the observation group were superior to those in the control group (all P<0.05). There was no significant difference in serum E2 before and after treatment in the two groups，and between the two groups after treatment (all P>0.05). After treatment, 5-HT contents increased and NE levels decreased in the two groups (all P<0.05), with better results in the observation group (both P<0.05). The total effective rate was 95.6% (43/45) in the observation group, which was higher than 82.2% (37/45) in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Auricular intradermal needling combined with erjian (HX6,7i) bloodletting can improve the sleep quality of patients with perimenopausal insomnia, and adjust the neurotransmitter level, which achieves better effect than western medication.

Abstract:Objective: On the basis of western medication, to investigate the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) combined with auricular point sticking therapy for anal pain of mixed hemorrhoid after external excision and internal ligation，so as to explore the method of improving its effect. Methods: Ninety patients of mixed hemorrhoids who received external excision and internal ligation were randomly assigned into an EA group, an auricular point sticking group and a combined group, 30 cases in each one. All the treatment was applied 30 min before surgery. Electroacupuncture was used at Xialiao (BL 34) and Changqiang (GV 1) in the EA group, once a day. The auricular points were bilateral shenmen (TF4), pizhixia (AT4), jiaogan (AH6a) and gangmen (HX5) in the auricular point sticking group, pressing 3-6 times every day, once 3-5 min. EA and auricular point sticking therapy were applied in the combined group. When the visual analogue scale (VAS) score was above 6, aminophenol dihydrocodeine was applied in the three groups. The scores of anal pain VAS and limb activity at the 4th, 12th, 24th, 48th, 72th hours after operation were compared among the three groups, as well as the maximum scores of VAS in 24 hours (T24max VAS) of 1-3 days after operation, the total dose of aminophenol dihydrocodeine 72 h after operation. Results: The VAS and limb activity scores at all the time points after operation, the T24max VAS on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd days after operation and the dose of aminophenol dihydrocodeine in the combined group were better than those in the EA and auricular point sticking groups (all P<0.05). The VAS and limb activity scores at 4, 12, 24 h after operation and T24max VAS on the 1st day after operation in the EA group were lower than those in the auricularpoint sticking group (all P<0.05). The VAS and limb activity scores at 48, 72 h after operation, and the T24max VAS on the 2nd and 3rd days in the auricular point sticking group were lower than those in the EA group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: EA combined with auricular point sticking therapy are better than simple EA and auricular point sticking therapy for anal pain of mixed hemorrhoid after external excision and internal ligation. The analgesic effect of EA is rapider, and the effect of auricular point sticking therapy is longer. The combination of the two methods own coordination effect.

Abstract:Objective: To compare the curative effect of refined moxibustion, traditional moxa box moxibustion and Chinese patent medicine on the sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease with qi stagnation and blood stasis. Methods: A total of 150 patients with sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease with qi stagnation and blood stasis were randomized into a refined moxibustion group (50 cases), a box-moxibustion group (50 cases) and a Chinese medication group (50 cases, 2 cases dropped off). The patients in the refined moxibustion group were treated with refined moxibustion at Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zigong (EX-CA 1) and Shuidao (ST 28), 2 moxa-cones for each acupoint. The patients in the box-moxibustion group were treated with box-moxibustion on the lower abdomen and Shenque (CV 8), and the patients in the Chinese medication group were treated with penyanqing capsules orally. All groups started treatment after menstruation, moxibustion was applied once every 4 days, twice a week, and medication was taken 3 times a day for a total of 2 menstrual cycles. The TCM symptoms and body signs scores of each group were observed before and after treatment. The short form health survey (SF-36) scores of each group were observed before and after treatment and during follow-up 12 weeks after treatment. Results: After treatment, the TCM symptoms, body signs and comprehensive scores of each group were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and those in the refined moxibustion group were lower than the box-moxibustion group and the Chinese medication group (P<0.05). The SF-36 scores of each group after treatment and during follow-up were higher than before treatment (P<0.05); during follow-up, the SF-36 scores of the box-moxibustion group and the Chinese medication group were lower than after treatment (P<0.05), while that in the refined moxibustion group was higher than after treatment (P<0.05); the SF-36 scores after treatment and during follow-up in the refined moxibustion group were higher than the box-moxibustion group and the Chinese medication group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion: Compared with traditional moxa box moxibustion and Chinese patent medicine treatment, refined moxibustion can better improve the symptoms, body signs and quality of life in patients with the sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease of qi stagnation and blood stasis, and the effect is longer.

Abstract:AIM To study the effects of 1,7-N-heptylene-bis-9,9'-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine [bis(7)-tacrine], a novel dimeric acetylcholine-sterase inhibitor (AChEI) derived from 9-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroaminoacridine (tacrine), on scopolamine-induced spatial memory impairment. METHODS The effects of bis(7)-tacrine were investigated on the 5-d performance of young adult rats in the Morris water maze. The latency to find the platform in the water maze was measured to evaluate performance. Tacrine was used as a reference drug. RESULTS Scopolamine (0.3 mg.kg-1, i.p.) resulted in an increase in latency period (> 100% increase) as compared with saline treated controls. Both bis(7)-tacrine and tacrine lessened the increased latency induced by scopolamine to the level of saline control group. The relative potency of bis(7)-tacrine (0.35 mumol.kg-1, i.g. or i.p.) to shorten the escape latency was 24 or 12 times of tacrine (8.52 mumol.kg-1 i.g., 4.26 mumol.kg-1 i.p.) following i.g. or i.p. administration, respectively. There appeared to be an inverse bell-shape dose-dependent effect for both compounds tested. CONCLUSION Bis(7)-tacrine is a more potent and orally active AChEI than tacrine, and has potential for the palliative treatment of Alzheimer disease.
Clinical study of auricular point seed burying combined with fire dragon pot moxibustion in perimenopausal women with insomnia

Abstract:Objective: To intervene the insomnia symptoms of perimenopausal women by auricular point seed burying combined with fire dragon pot moxibustion, in order to improve the quality of sleep and life of the participants. Methods: Seventy female participants with perimenopausal insomnia who were treated with Chinese medicine techniques from January 2020 to October 2020 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 35 participants in each group. Participants in the control group were treated with the traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention of burying seeds at auricular points. And participants in the observation group were additionally treated with fire dragon pot moxibustion. After 10 weeks of intervention, the Pittsburgh Sleepiness Index (PSQI), self-assessment scores of anxiety (SAS) and depression (SDS), and treatment efficacy of the two groups were compared, respectively. Results: Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in general information, sleep index scores, SAS, SDS scores between the two groups (p > 0.05). After the intervention, the SAS, SDS, and PSQI scores were significantly lower than the control group. Compared with the control group, the time to fall asleep was shorter and the duration of total sleep was longer in the observation group (p < 0.05). The treatment efficacy was better in the observation group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Auricular point seed burying combined with fire dragon pot moxibustion therapy can be more effect than auricular point seed burying alone in treating perimenopausal women with insomnia.
