Changes in static balance during pregnancy and postpartum: A systematic review

Abstract:Background: Because pregnant women show a high risk of falling, some researchers examined their balance during static standing. This systematic review summarized the findings from all studies evaluating static balance in women during pregnancy and postpartum. Research question: Do pregnant and postpartum women show differences in static balance compared to non-pregnant women, and does static balance change during pregnancy and postpartum? Methods: Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science databases were searched systematically from inception until Feb 23, 2022. Studies were eligible for inclusion if they measured COP sway with a force plate during bipedal static standing, and compared COP outcomes between healthy pregnant or postpartum women and non-pregnant women, and/or during different stages of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Methodological quality was assessed overall with a modified version of the Downs and Black checklist, and specifically related to COP measurement by using recommendations of Ruhe et al. (2010). The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020166302). Results: Thirteen studies were included. Because methodological approaches varied greatly between studies, results were summarized descriptively. Studies reported either greater overall and anteroposterior COP sway magnitude, velocity and variability in women from the second half of pregnancy until six months postpartum compared to non-pregnant controls, or no differences in static balance. Changes in static balance throughout pregnancy were generally not found. Finally, there was no clear consensus on the influence of pregnancy on the reliance on visual inputs for balance control, and on whether differences in balance in pregnant and postpartum women reflect poorer balance or positive adaptations to the physical changes experienced during pregnancy. Significance: Methodological heterogeneity between studies prevented us from drawing strong conclusions regarding the effect of pregnancy on static balance. Assessing the methodological quality of the studies revealed weaknesses that should be taken into account in future studies.
Determination of the amino acid requirements for a protein hinge in triosephosphate isomerase

Abstract:We have determined the sequence requirements for a protein hinge in triosephosphate isomerase. The codons encoding the hinge at the C‐terminus of the active‐site lid of triosephosphate isomerase were replaced with a genetic library of all possible 8, 000 amino acid combinations. The most active of these 8, 000 mutants were selected using in vivo complementation of a triosephosphate isomerase deficient strain of E. coli, DF502. Approximately 3% of the mutants complement DF502 with an activity that is above 70% of wild‐type activity. The sequences of these hinge mutants reveal that the solutions to the hinge flexibility problem are varied. Moreover, these preferences are sequence dependent; that is, certain pairs occur frequently. They fall into six families of similar sequences. In addition to the hinge sequences expected on the basis of phylogenetic analysis, we selected three new families of 3‐amino‐acid hinges: X(A/S)(L/K/ M), X(aromatic/β‐branched)(L/K), and XP(S/N). The absence of these hinge families in the more than 60 known species of triosephosphate isomerase suggests that during evolution, not all of sequence space is sampled, perhaps because there is no neutral mutation pathway to access the other families.
Postural sway changes during pregnancy: a descriptive study using stabilometry

Abstract:Objective: This study aims to analyse changes in body sway over the course of pregnancy. Study design: This is a descriptive study in which stabilometric tests were applied at three stages of pregnancy and with a combination of different visual conditions (eyes open/closed) and support base configuration (feet together/apart). Twenty healthy pregnant women participated in the study. Changes in postural control with pregnancy were analysed via the elliptical area of the stabilograms and spectral analysis of the displacements of the centre of pressure (COP) along the lateral and anterior/posterior directions. Results: The elliptical area encompassing the COP significantly increased over the course of the pregnancy for the feet apart and eyes closed test protocols. The spectral analysis revealed a significant increase of COP oscillations along the anterior-posterior direction when subjects stood with the eyes open/feet together and feet apart. A reduction (significant) of the lateral oscillations of COP was observed for the eyes open/feet together protocol. Conclusion: Pregnancy induced significant changes in the postural control when pregnant women stood with a reduced support base or with eyes closed.
Changes in gait and posture as factors of dynamic stability during walking in pregnancy

Abstract:Changes in gait and postural control during pregnancy may lead to increased fall rates during walking relative to non-pregnant women. Due to lack of empirical evidence on balance and postural control in dynamic conditions, the primary aim of this study was investigate the changes in gait and postural control as factors of stability during walking. Gait and posture of thirty-five (35) pregnant women (27 ± 6.1 years) were analysed at self-selected walking speed, and at different stage of pregnancy. The results indicate that although the gait kinematics did not differ between the trimesters, significant associations were noted between the step width, the lateral trunk lean, and the medio-lateral deviations in centre of gravity and centre of pressure. In contrast to the static conditions, anterior-posterior postural sway is not present during walking, whereas the lateral trunk lean is the primary factor women use in pregnancy to keep the centre of gravity closer to the base of support. Postural changes and those in gait kinematics were largely affected by the relative mass gain, rather than the absolute mass. Considering the importance of relative mass gain, more attention during healthy pregnancy should be given to monitoring the timing of onset of musculoskeletal changes, and design of antenatal exercise programs targeting core strength and pelvic stability.

Abstract:Purpose Regular physical activity is recommended by the WHO for women in the perinatal period as one of the basic factors determining the physiological course of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. The study aimed to identify the relationship between regular physical training of pregnant women, carried out in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, and postural stability during the perinatal period. Methods 58 women in the first trimester of pregnancy took part in the study and were divided into two groups according to their own choice. The exercise group participated in physical training three times a week during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. The non-exercise group did not engage in additional physical activity. All subjects underwent three postural stability tests using a stabilograph. Results In assessing posture stability parameters, significant differences were found only in body coordination in the active group of women. The exercise group showed statistically significantly lower values of the stabilogram parameters (better postural stability) obtained postpartum compared to those taken during pregnancy. There were no significant differences between the results taken during pregnancy. In the group of non-exercising women, no significant differences were observed between the second measurement during pregnancy and the measurement made postpartum. Conclusions It has been shown that physical activity has a significant impact on improving the coordination of women during pregnancy and postpartum. Women participating in regular physical training were characterised by smaller stabilogram deflections and better postural control compared to the control group.
Dynamic postural stability in pregnant fallers and non-fallers

Abstract:Objective: To compare dynamic postural stability in pregnant women who have fallen during their pregnancies with those who have not, and with a group of non-pregnant women. Design: The study was both longitudinal and cross-sectional. A cohort of pregnant women were followed through their second and third trimesters. A non-pregnant control group was used for comparison. Setting: University-based laboratory. Population: A total of 81 women (41 pregnant and 40 controls) participated. Twenty-nine pregnant women completed the protocol. Methods: Data were collected on the pregnant women in the middle of their second and third trimesters. Pregnant women were surveyed about their daily activities, exercise participation, and fall history. Postural reaction time and centre of pressure (COP) movement data, in response to translational perturbations, were collected using a force plate. A mixed-model analysis of variants (ANOVA) was performed on each of the dependent variables (alpha = 0.05). Chi-square analysis was performed to determine if exercise participation altered the likelihood of a subject experiencing a fall (alpha = 0.05). Main outcome measures: Reaction time, initial sway, total sway, and sway velocity. Results: Fifty-two percent of our pregnant subjects experienced a fall. Initial sway response, total sway, and sway velocity were smaller in the pregnant fallers than in the non-fallers and control participants (P < 0.05). Thirty-one of the pregnant subjects participated in regular exercise. Sedentary pregnant women were more likely to experience a fall than those who exercised. Conclusions: Dynamic balance is altered in pregnant women who have fallen compared with non-fallers and controls. Exercise may play a role in fall prevention in pregnant women.
Center of pressure characteristics differ during single leg stance throughout pregnancy and compared to nulligravida individuals

Abstract:Background: Falls are common during pregnancy and present potential for injury to the pregnant individual and the baby. Research question: Do center of pressure characteristics during single leg stance differ between participants during and after pregnancy and nulligravida participants in the presence and absence of visual input? Methods: Nineteen pregnant participants completed testing during the second trimester, the third trimester, and 4-6 months post-partum. Matched, nulligravida females completed testing once. All participants performed single leg stance on a force platform on each limb for up to 20 s with eyes open and with eyes closed. Center of pressure characteristics were compared between pregnant and nulligravida females using three separate 2 × 2 mixed way ANOVAs, one for each pregnancy time point (second trimester, third trimester, and post-partum) with Bonferroni correction. Results: Pregnant females demonstrated smaller single leg stance time with eyes closed during the third trimester. During the second and third trimester, pregnant participants demonstrated smaller sway and sway velocity across eyes open and eyes closed conditions. During the third trimester and post-partum, pregnant participants demonstrated greater median frequency of the center of pressure data. Pregnant participants also demonstrated smaller sample entropy in the anteroposterior direction during the second and third trimesters and in the mediolateral direction during the second trimester. Significance: The decreased total sway and sway velocity observed during pregnancy may reflect rigidity or a protective strategy during single limb stance. Additionally, center of pressure data were less smooth and more repetitive during pregnancy indicating robust differences in postural control strategies and potentially increased fall risk. Because single limb stance is a component of many activities of daily living, the single limb stance task may have clinical utility for testing or training balance in this population with a goal of decreasing falls.

Abstract:PURPOSE: Physical and hormonal changes during pregnancy are thought to affect balance and injury risk, with increased numbers of falls being reported. A maternity support belt (MSB) has been suggested to stabilize the pelvis and to enhance balance. The purpose of this study was therefore to investigate the effect of an MSB on postural stability in different trimesters of pregnancy.METHODS: Postural stability was assessed in the first (T1, n = 30), second (T2, n = 30) and third trimester (T3, n = 30) of pregnancy and compared to non-pregnant controls (n = 30), using a portable force plate. Postural sway during quiescent standing with and without applying an MSB was characterized by analyzing path length, velocity, amplitudes and area. Subsequently, anterior and posterior limits of stability (LoS) were determined.RESULTS: Postural sway during quiescent standing did not change with pregnancy. However, LoS performance was reduced already in T1, before body mass significantly increased. The MSB led to a small improvement in the LoS while slightly increasing postural sway in anterior-posterior direction and shifting the center of pressure posteriorly during quiescent standing.CONCLUSION: While impairments in balance already occurred early in pregnancy before body mass significantly increased, they were subtle and only measurable in exacerbated conditions. This challenges the assumed necessity of balance enhancing interventions in pregnant women. Although the MSB significantly affected body posture, the magnitude of the LoS improvement using the MSB was very small. Thus, it remains debatable if the MSB is a meaningful tool to increase balance during pregnancy.

Abstract:Background: Morphological and physiological changes during pregnancy are considered to interfere with the mechanisms of postural control and potentially increase the risk of falling. A clear understanding of these mechanisms is important to improve pre-natal care and reduce the fall risk in this population. Objectives: This study focused on investigating how pregnancy affects postural control in each trimester of pregnancy by analyzing pelvic inclination and body sway behavior. Our main hypothesis was that balance control and posture would change during pregnancy. More specifically, pregnancy would increase sway amplitude, anterior pelvic tilt, and body sway regularity in time. Study design: Forty women formed four groups: non-pregnant women (NP) and women at their first, second, and third trimester of pregnancy (P1, P2, and P3, respectively). All participants performed (1) postural evaluation of the pelvic inclination using a digital system of postural analysis and (2) instrumented posturography using a force platform to collect the coordinates of the body's center of pressure (COP) during quiet bipedal stance for 120 s. Kruskal-Wallis H test and post-hoc Mann-Whitney U tests were used to investigate the effects of pregnancy (NP, P1, P2, and P3) on pelvic inclination angle and postural indices computed from the COP signals. Results: Results revealed significant larger body sway accompanied by a more regular medial-lateral pattern of oscillation and a more synchronized anterior-posterior and medial-lateral sway already at the first trimester of pregnancy. The averaged COP migrated posteriorly at third trimester of pregnancy and the anterior pelvic tilt increased at second and third trimesters. Conclusions: Our results indicate the existence of changes in posture and balance metrics even at early stages of pregnancy. We suggest the use of posturography as one of screening tools for postural instability and fall risk during pregnancy.
Sensory integration and segmental control of posture during pregnancy

Abstract:Background: Approximately 25% of pregnant people fall, yet the underlying mechanisms of this increased fall-risk remain unclear. Prior studies examining pregnancy and balance have utilized center of pressure analyses and reported mixed results. The purpose of this study was to examine sensory and segmental contributions to postural control throughout pregnancy using accelerometer-based measures of sway. Methods: Thirty pregnant people (first trimester: n = 10, second trimester: n = 10, third trimester: n = 10) and 10 healthy, nonpregnant control people stood quietly for one minute in four conditions: eyes open on a firm surface, eyes closed on a firm surface, eyes open on a foam pad, and eyes closed on foam. Postural sway was quantified using the root mean square accelerations in the anterior-posterior and medial-lateral directions from an inertial sensor at the lumbar region. Sensory sway ratios, segmental coherence and co-phase, were calculated to assess sensory contributions and segmental control, respectively. Findings: Pregnant people did not display greater sway compared to healthy, nonpregnant controls. There were no group differences in vestibular, visual, or somatosensory sway ratios, and no significant differences in balance control strategies between pregnant and nonpregnant participants across sensory conditions. Interpretation: The small effects observed here contrast prior studies and suggest larger, definitive studies are needed to assess the effect of pregnancy on postural control. This study serves as a preliminary exploration of pregnant sensory and segmental postural control and highlights the need for future to hone the role of balance in fall risk during pregnancy.
Weed seed viability in composted beef cattle feedlot manure.

Abstract:Manure composting has gained increased acceptance by the beef cattle (Bos taurus) feedlot industry in southern Alberta, Canada. Unlike fresh manure, compost is often promoted as being "weed-free." Studies were conducted with five weed species in 1997 and thirteen in 1999 to examine the effect of feedlot manure composting on weed seed viability. Weed seeds were buried in open-air compost windrows and recovered at various times during the thermophilic phase of composting. Windrow temperature and water contents were also measured. Germinability was zero for all composted weed seeds at all sampling times in 1997. However, some seeds remained viable (positive tetrazolium test denoting respiration) on Day 70. In 1999, only one of the thirteen species retained germinability on Day 21 and only two species had respiring seeds on Day 42. Time-viability relationships during composting were defined by exponential decay models. Lethal temperatures to eliminate viability was species-dependent. In 1999, four weed species were killed in the initial 7 d of composting at a lethal temperature of 39 degrees C while temperatures of > 60 degrees C were required for two species. Regression analysis on weed seed viability versus windrow temperature resulted in significant R2 values, which showed that only 17 to 29% of the variation in viability was accounted for by temperature. The lack of definitive relationships between temperature and weed seed viability demonstrated that factors other than temperature may play a role in eliminating weed seeds during composting.
Characterization of two Haemophilus somnus Fc receptors.

Abstract:Haemophilus somnus expresses two types of receptors that bind to the Fc region of bovine IgG, IgA and IgM. In this study, the relationship between these two types of Fc receptors is characterized. The high molecular mass receptors (350, 270 and 120 kDa) were secreted into the culture medium and were also in the insoluble protein fraction of the culture medium. The 41 kDa Fc receptor, which is a major outer-membrane protein, was only present in the insoluble protein fraction. Peptide mapping of the two types of Fc receptors suggests that the 41 kDa receptor is related to the high molecular mass receptor complex. Disulphide linkage is unlikely to be the mechanism of association of the 41 kDa receptor with the high molecular mass receptors since reducing agents had no effect on separating the individual receptors. Although the 41 kDa receptor is a major protein in the outer membrane of H. somnus, it does not react with convalescent bovine sera in Western blots. In contrast, convalescent bovine sera reacts intensely with the high molecular mass receptors in Western blots.
A Comparison of Posture and Sit‐to‐Stand Biomechanics of Pregnant Women in the Third Trimester With and Without a Maternity Support: A Pilot Study

Abstract:Background and PurposeAs pregnancy progresses, various postural and biomechanical changes occur as a result of altered anthropometrics. A number of pelvic belts and maternity supports are available and marketed to pregnant women to improve posture and body biomechanics. However, the evidence regarding the efficacy of these maternity supports in improving posture or biomechanics has been anecdotal, with no published data being available. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential differences in standing spinal postures and sit-to-stand (STS) biomechanics in pregnant women with and without a maternity support. ParticipantsFive women in their third trimester of pregnancy were fitted with a maternity support for use during the study. Methods and MeasuresA pretest-posttest research design was used. Kinematic analysis was used to measure joint angles and movement time during the STS movement. A flexible ruler was used to measure standing spinal posture with and without the support in place. ResultsThe addition of the maternity support resulted in less hip flexion during the STS movement. While not statistically significant, lumbar lordosis measured while standing decreased when women wore the maternity support compared with without the support. Discussion and ConclusionResults of this pilot study suggest that pregnant women wearing a maternity support may experience changes in hip position during STS movements. In addition, their spinal curve postures may tend to change. However, it is unclear whether altering the biomechanics during the STS movement impacts movement effort or pain complaints.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of maternity support belts (MSB) on postural balance during pregnancy.DESIGN: Prospective, observational cohort study.SETTING: Outpatient visits at a university hospital, obstetrics and gynecology clinic.PARTICIPANTS: A total of 90 pregnant women in first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy; 30 pregnant women for each trimester.METHODS: Dynamic and postural stability by using a Biodex Stability System and comparing pregnant women with and without an MSB in each cohort group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Overall, anterior-posterior stability index, medial-lateral stability index, and fall risk test (FRT) scores were obtained with 1 stance at platform stability of level 8. Four measurements from the Biodex Stability System were compared between pregnant women with and without an MSB in each group.RESULTS: The scores of anterior-posterior stability index and FRT were significantly lower in the first-trimester group with an MSB than without an MSB (P < .05). Medial-lateral stability index and FRT scores were significantly lower in the second-trimester group with an MSB than without an MSB (P < .05). In the third-trimester group, overall, medial-lateral stability index, and FRT scores were lower for participants with an MSB compared with participants without an MSB (P < .05). In all trimester groups, FRT scores were detected to be lower in pregnant women with an MSB than in those without an MSB (P < .05).CONCLUSIONS: MSB use improves impaired balance and FRT scores during all periods of pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. MSB is useful for fall prevention during pregnancy, especially during the third trimester.

Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain affects balance in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy

Abstract:Introduction During pregnancy, many changes in the musculoskeletal system and pregnancy-related disorders affect posture and postural stability. Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP) is a common disorder in pregnancy; the cause remains unknown. The purpose of the present study was to determine if PPGP affects static postural stability and its relation to the stage of pregnancy. Methods Sixty-three pregnant women between the ages of 18 and 45 and between the 12 th and 38 th weeks of gestation were included in the study. They were divided into four groups according on the trimester and the presence of PPGP. Static balance was assessed using a force plate on firm and compliant surfaces with eyes open and closed. Results Pregnant women with PPGP had significantly (p < 0.05) greater centre-of-pressure velocity and sway area compared to pregnant women without PPGP, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. In the second trimester, only two significant differences in COP parameters were observed between pregnant women with and without PPGP. Pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy had significantly (p < 0.05) greater centre-of-pressure velocity and larger postural sway area compared to pregnant women in the second trimester of pregnancy, regardless of PPGP. Discussion and conclusion Pregnant women with PPGP had poorer static stability when compared to pregnant women without pain, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. The cause could be found in the poorer ability to stabilise the trunk and pelvis, poorer proprioception, and issues with automatic movement patterns.

Abstract:There are several well-known medical conditions in which posture and gravity interact with natural history, including pregnancy. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of interactions between maternal posture and maternal physiology and pathophysiology at rest during pregnancy. We conducted a systematic literature search of the MEDLINE database and identified 644 studies from 1991 through 2021, inclusive, that met our inclusion criteria. We present a narrative review of the resulting literature and highlight discrepancies, research gaps, and potential clinical implications. We organize the results by organ system and, commencing with the neurological system, proceed in our synthesis generally in the craniocaudal direction, concluding with the skin. The circulatory system warranted our greatest and closest consideration–literature concerning the dynamic interplay between physiology (heart rate, stroke volume, cardiac output, blood pressure, and systemic vascular resistance), pathophysiology (e.g., hypertension in pregnancy), and postural changes provide an intricate and fascinating example of the importance of the subject of this review. Other organ systems discussed include respiratory, renal, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, abdominal, and endocrine. In addition to summarizing the existing literature on maternal posture-physiology interactions, we also point out gaps and opportunities for further research and clinical developments in this area. Overall, our review provides both insight into and relevance of maternal posture-physiology interactions vis à vis healthcare's mission to improve health and wellness during pregnancy and beyond.

Assessment of postural stability using the Zebris Platform in women above the age of 60

Abstract:Introduction. Balance control and body posture stability disorders progressing with age are caused by the involutionary changes in the function of the motor and nervous systems. However, it is indicated that regular physical activity, also in older adulthood, may have a positive effect on maintaining the functions of individual systems at an optimal level. Study aim: The aim of the study was to assess the postural stability of women above the age of 60 who declare active lifestyles. Material and Methods. The research involved 24 women, who were arbitrarily divided into 3 groups according to their calendar age. The younger group consisted of 14 women below the age of 70 years ( x _ = 65.08; SD = 2.82), whereas the older group comprised 10 older adults, above the age of 70 ( x _ = 73.62; SD = 2.74). The scope of the study included evaluation of selected postural stability parameters: 95% of the ellipse area covered by the moving COP, statokinesiogram path length, mean speed regarding displacement of the centre of foot pressure, total left and total right foot pressure. The examinations were performed in June 2018 using the Zerbis FDM-S dynamographic platform. The research material collected in this way was subjected to statistical analysis. Basic descriptive statistics were calculated and normality of the distribution of variables was verified using the Shapiro- Wilk test. The Student’s t-test for independent variables or Mann-Whitney’s U-test (depending on the distribution) were used to determine the significance of differences concerning the analysed parameters of postural stability between the groups studied. Furthermore, for 95% of the ellipse area covered by the moving COP, statokinesiogram path and mean speed of the displacement of the centre of foot pressure and standardised profiles were calculated for both chronological age groups. Standardisation of the results was performed using means and standard deviations of the entire material (T scale). Results. The results of the study indicate a higher level of postural stability among women from the younger group. However, comparative analysis did not reveal any statistically significant intergroup differences. Mean point scores on the T scale in the group of younger women for the 3 variables ranged from 50.98 to 51.60 points, whereas for older women, this was from 48.90 to 48.98 points. The differences between characteristics in the group of younger women totalled ca. 0.62 points, while in the older group, this value was 0.08 points. Conclusions. comparative analysis allowed to show that postural stability indices in women above 70 decreased compared to the results obtained for the younger group. Regular physical activity may be one of the significant factors in the prevention of postural stability regression.
Postural sway in young female artistic and acrobatic gymnasts according to training experience and anthropometric characteristics

Abstract:Abstract Background Gymnastics training enhances the development of postural control in children and adolescents. In competitive gymnastics, the training regimen is specific to the given gymnastic discipline and is usually followed from the early years of practicing. This study aimed to determine whether postural steadiness differed between young gymnasts practicing two distinct disciplines, and whether it was related to the duration of their training experience, age, and their anthropometric characteristics. Methods Thirty 10–13-year-old females ̶ ten artistic gymnasts, ten acrobatic gymnasts (training as “tops”), and ten non-athletes ̶ were examined during 60-s quiet standing trials on a force platform with the eyes open and closed. Their postural sway was represented by directional components of centre of foot pressure mean velocity. Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon and Spearman’s ρ tests were used for analyses. Results Anterior-posterior and medial-lateral centre of foot pressure mean velocities were not different between the artistic and acrobatic gymnasts ( p > 0.05). In the artistic gymnasts, the duration of training experience, age, body height, body mass, and maturity offset were negatively correlated with the anterior-posterior centre of foot pressure mean velocity under eyes-open conditions. The acrobatic gymnasts’ body mass and BMI percentiles were negatively correlated with their anterior-posterior and medial-lateral centre of foot pressure mean velocities under both visual conditions ( r ranged from − 0.64 to − 0.93; p < 0.05). The non-athletes’ centre of foot pressure mean velocities were non-significantly correlated with their age and anthropometric measures under both visual conditions ( p > 0.05). Conclusions The artistic gymnasts’ longer training experience, greater age, body height, body mass, and biological maturity were associated with better anterior-posterior postural steadiness when vision was available; the acrobatic gymnasts’ greater body mass and BMI percentiles were associated with better overall postural steadiness regardless of visual conditions. Relationships were observed between postural steadiness and discipline-specific training experience and anthropometric characteristics; however, causes and effects were not proven.
