Abstract:Short range wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, WiFi and DECT are known to transmit voice, audio and/or video messages in real time. Energy consumption and transmission reach are critical in such networks, especially for portable and/or power autonomous devices. The purpose of the Voice over Zigbee technology is to provide a competitive offering that excels in these performance aspects. Due to the CSMA-CA mechanism implemented in the 802.15.4 layer a well-designed strategy must be taken into account in Zigbee to create a robust, reliable and full-duplex conversation. This article proves that the radio channel of Zigbee has enough bandwidth to support a full-duplex conversation with narrow band voice codecs. Furthermore, it presents the implementation and evaluation of a voice codec performed in the framework of the Z-Phone project, which targeted the development of a low cost, ultra low power, long range wireless headset using Zigbee technology to transmit voice in full-duplex mode for use with leading PC VoIP programs. Last but not least, it presents the results of the transmission range and power consumption tests involving the developed headset prototype. Talk time is comparable to Bluetooth, but its deep-sleep lifetime doubles the Bluetooth performance. Another significant contribution of this work is towards understanding and resolving the challenges faced when trying to achieve good quality transmission of media over constrained devices and networks. The way to new voice-related Zigbee applications is open.

Abstract:Introducción y objetivos: La exposición al humo ambiental de tabaco (HAT) produce enfermedades cardiovascular y respiratoria y cáncer. En este estudio se estima la mortalidad atribuida (MA) a la exposición al HAT de personas de edad ≥ 35 años en España y sus comunidades autónomas (CC.AA.) por sexo en el periodo 2016-2021. Métodos: Se aplicó un método dependiente de las prevalencias de exposición al HAT derivadas del ajuste de modelos de áreas pequeñas y con base en el cálculo de fracciones atribuidas poblacionales. Se tuvieron en cuenta el sexo, la edad, la comunidad autónoma y la causa de muerte (cardiopatía isquémica y cáncer de pulmón). Las estimaciones de MA se presentan acompañadas de su IC95%. Se estimaron las tasas brutas y estandarizadas por edad para cada sexo y comunidad autónoma. Resultados: En 2016-2021 la exposición al HAT causó 4.970 (IC95%, 4.787-5.387) muertes, lo que representa el 1,6% de la mortalidad total para cardiopatía isquémica y cáncer de pulmón. La carga de MA difiere entre CC.AA., y Andalucía es la que presenta la mayor carga (tasas brutas, 46,6 muertes/100.000 varones y 17,0/100.000 mujeres). La cardiopatía isquémica fue la causa de muerte principal en ambos sexos y todas las CC.AA. La mayor carga de MA se observó en los no fumadores. Conclusiones: La carga de MA al HAT es elevada y varía entre regiones. Se debe tener en cuenta los resultados de este estudio para avanzar en legislación de control del tabaquismo en España. Introduction and objectives: Exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS) causes cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and cancer. The aim of this study was to estimate the mortality attributed to SHS in people aged ≥ 35 years in Spain and its autonomous communities (AC) by sex from 2016 to 2021. Methods: Estimates of SHS-attributable mortality were calculated by applying the prevalence-dependent method where SHS exposure was derived from the adjustment of small-area models and based on the calculation of population-attributed fractions. Age group, sex, AC, and cause of death (lung cancer and ischemic heart disease) were included. The estimates of attributed mortality are presented with 95%CI. Crude and age-standardized rates were estimated for each sex and AC. Results: From 2016 to 2021, SHS exposure caused 4970 (95%CI, 4787-5387) deaths, representing 1.6% of total mortality for lung cancer and ischemic heart disease. The burden of attributed mortality differed widely among the AC, with Andalusia having the highest burden of attributed mortality (crude rate: 46.6 deaths per 100 000 population in men and 17.0 in women). In all the AC, the main cause of death in both sexes was stroke. The highest burden of mortality was observed in nonsmokers. Conclusions: The burden of SHS-attributable mortality was high and varied geographically. The results of this study should be considered to advance tobacco control legislation in Spain.

Impact of the use of small-area models on estimation of attributable mortality at a regional level

Abstract:The objective of this study is to assess the impact of applying prevalences derived from a small-area model at a regional level on smoking-attributable mortality (SAM). A prevalence-dependent method was used to estimate SAM. Prevalences of tobacco use were derived from a small-area model. SAM and population attributable fraction (PAF) estimates were compared against those calculated by pooling data from three national health surveys conducted in Spain (2011-2014-2017). We calculated the relative changes between the two estimates and assessed the width of the 95% CI of the PAF. Applying surveys-based prevalences, tobacco use was estimated to cause 53 825 (95% CI: 53 182-54 342) deaths in Spain in 2017, a figure 3.8% lower obtained with the small-area model prevalences. The lowest relative change was observed in the Castile-La Mancha region (1.1%) and the highest in Navarre (14.1%). The median relative change between regions was higher for women (26.1%), population aged ≥65 years (6.6%), and cardiometabolic diseases (9.0%). The differences between PAF by cause of death were never greater than 2%. Overall, the differences between estimates of SAM, PAF, and confidence interval width are small when using prevalences from both sources. Having these data available by region will allow decision-makers to implement smoking control measures based on more accurate data.

Abstract:Objective: Recent research has assessed the impact of tobacco laws on cardiovascular and respiratory morbidity. In this study, we also examined whether the association between the implementation of the 2005 Spanish smoking ban and hospital admissions for cardiovascular and respiratory diseases varies according to the adjustment for potential confounders. Design: Ecological time series analysis. Setting: Residents of Madrid and Barcelona cities (Spain). Outcome: Data on daily emergency room admissions for acute myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma derived from the 2003-2006 Spanish hospital admissions registry. Methods: Changes in admission rates between 2006 and the 2003-2005 period were estimated using additive Poisson models allowing for overdispersion adjusted for secular trend in admission, seasonality, day of the week, temperature, number of flu and acute respiratory infection cases, pollution levels, tobacco consumption prevalence and, for asthma cases, pollen count. Results: In Madrid, fully adjusted models failed to detect significant changes in hospital admission rates for any disease during the study period. In Barcelona, however, hospital admissions decreased by 10.2% (95% CI 3.8% to 16.1%) for cerebrovascular diseases and by 16.0% (95% CI 7.0% to 24.1%) for COPD. Substantial changes in effect estimates were observed on adjustment for linear or quadratic trend. Effect estimates for asthma-related admissions varied substantially when adjusting for pollen count in Madrid, and for seasonality and tobacco consumption in Barcelona. Conclusions: Our results confirm that the potential impact of a smoking ban must be adjusted for the underlying secular trend. In asthma-related admissions, pollen count, seasonality and tobacco consumption must be specified in the model. The substantial variability in effects detected between the two cities of Madrid and Barcelona lends strong support for a nationwide study to assess the overall effect of a smoking ban in Spain and identify the causes of the observed heterogeneity.

The inclusion of the effects of particulate to either transmission or reception unit of antenna is paramount. The Schrodinger was used to model a now reformed Maxwell's equation which explains in details the electrostatic and induced magnetic field of either transmitting or receiving antenna. This theory applies to only to stationary satellite antennas.

Abstract:Background and objective: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly increased the global burden of respiratory morbidity and mortality. In Spain, 2020 saw a 68.5% surge in deaths from respiratory diseases compared to 2019, largely due to COVID-19. This study aims to describe respiratory disease mortality in Spain from 2019 to 2022, focusing on the intersection of COVID-19, pre-existing respiratory conditions, and specific health determinants. Materials and methods: We analyzed mortality data from the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), covering 102 causes of death, including tuberculosis, COVID-19, and lung cancer as respiratory-related conditions. The analysis considered absolute death counts and proportions by sex, age, and region, along with percentage changes in proportional mortality. Logistic regression models were used to identify factors potentially associated with COVID-19 and respiratory-specific mortality. Results: In 2022, Spain reported 98,128 deaths from respiratory diseases, accounting for 21.1% of all deaths and ranking as the second leading cause of death after cardiovascular diseases. Although deaths due to COVID-19 decreased in 2021 and 2022, there was a notable rise in other respiratory causes, indicating a lasting post-pandemic impact. Factors linked to higher mortality included male gender, older age, being divorced, and residing in urban areas, with significant regional variability. Conclusions: Despite overall mortality returning to pre-pandemic levels, this study highlights a significant increase in respiratory disease deaths in Spain in 2022 compared to 2019.

Abstract:This study aimed to report mortality, risk factors, and burden of diseases in Spain. The Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors 2019 estimates the burden due to 369 diseases, injuries, and impairments and 87 risk factors and risk factor combinations. Here, we detail the updated Spain 1990–2019 burden of disease estimates and project certain metrics up to 2030. In 2019, leading causes of death were ischaemic heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Alzheimer's disease, and lung cancer. Main causes of disability adjusted life years (DALYs) were ischaemic heart disease, diabetes, lung cancer, low back pain, and stroke. Leading DALYs risk factors included smoking, high body mass index, and high fasting plasma glucose. Spain scored 74/100 among all health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, ranking 20 of 195 countries and territories. We forecasted that by 2030, Spain would outpace Japan, the United States, and the European Union. Behavioural risk factors, such as smoking and poor diet, and environmental factors added a significant burden to the Spanish population's health in 2019. Monitoring these trends, particularly in light of COVID-19, is essential to prioritise interventions that will reduce the future burden of disease to meet population health and SDG commitments.

Abstract:Background: Patterns of lung cancer (LC) mortality are important for planning health services and resource management. Objectives: We aimed to provide updated information (1982–2021) and project (LC) mortality rates in Spain (2022–2046). Method: We analysed data from the Spanish National Statistics Institute about mortality in LC (1982–2021), and we made predictions for the period 2022–2046. Results: In 2021, a total of 22,413 people died of LC, and for the period 2042–2046, the projected annual average was 25,549 deaths. In males, age-standardised mortality rates (ASMR) (overall) after an initial period of increase (1982–1996, 2.2%) declined until 2021 (−1.4% per year), and this decline is expected to continue in the future (−1.9% per year during the period 2022–2046), although the projected decline is slightly higher (−2.0% during the period 2022–2046). In men, ASMR (all ages) after an initial period of increase (1982–1996, 2.2%) declined until 2021 (−1.4% per year), and this decline is expected to continue in the future during the period 2022–2046. In women, both the overall and truncated rates (35–64) increase during the period 1982–2021 (4.1% and 6.0% per year, respectively), and projected rates showed that both will decrease during the period 2022–2046, although more markedly in the truncated rates (−1.9% per year) than in the overall rates (−0.5% per year). Conclusions: Our projections show the magnitude of a steady upward trend in LC mortality among women in Spain that appears to be beginning to reverse from the current decade (similar to that observed for incidence).

Current status of lung cancer in Spain: a retrospective analysis of patient characteristics, use of healthcare resources and in-hospital mortality

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to describe the current status of lung cancer in Spain, including patient characteristics and in-hospital mortality, and to revise disease management and the direct medical costs of secondary care.Methods: A retrospective observational study was set to analyse anonymized primary and secondary care records of patients admitted with lung cancer in Spain between 2011 and 2016. Data were obtained from the Primary Care Dataset and the Centralised Hospital Discharge Database.Results: Admissions files from 12,119 primary care and 113,574 secondary care patients were analyzed. Only 21% of all patients were females, yet the number of female patients presented an increasing trend over the study period. Non-small-cell lung carcinoma represented 85.29% of all lung malignant neoplasms; metastatic or secondary malignant neoplasms were diagnosed in 76.66% of admissions. Other relevant comorbid conditions registered at the hospital level were hypertension, disorders of lipoid metabolism, diabetes mellitus and a history of tobacco use. In-hospital mortality was 22% over the study period and was associated with respiratory failure. Mean hospitalization time was 9.57 days and most admissions were due to emergencies. The mean cost of secondary care per patient was €8475, increasing significantly over the study period. Cost per patient was higher in those diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma.Conclusions: Preventive and early detection measures are recommended, continuing to focus on females. In parallel, a multidisciplinary approach could optimize patient journey considering the presence of disease comorbidities, although its role in lung cancer mortality should be further explored.

Abstract:Objective: The objective of this work was to study mortality increase in Spain during the first and second academic semesters of 2020, coinciding with the first 2 waves of the Covid-19 pandemic; by sex, age, and education. Methods: An observational study was carried out, using linked populations and deaths' data from 2017 to 2020. The mortality rates from all causes and leading causes other than Covid-19 during each semester of 2020, compared to the 2017–2019 averages for the same semester, was also estimated. Mortality rate ratios (MRR) and differences were used for comparison. Results: All-cause mortality rates increased in 2020 compared to pre-covid, except among working-age, (25–64 years) highly-educated women. Such increases were larger in lower-educated people between the working age range, in both 2020 semesters, but not at other ages. In the elderly, the MMR in the first semester in women and men were respectively, 1.14, and 1.25 among lower-educated people, and 1.28 and 1.23 among highly-educated people. In the second semester, the MMR were 1.12 in both sexes among lower-educated people and 1.13 in women and 1.16 in men among highly-educated people. Conclusion: Lower-educated people within working age and highly-educated people at older ages showed the greatest increase in all-cause mortality in 2020, compared to the pre-pandemic period.

Abstract:Abstract Background Several studies have estimated the impact of second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure on mortality in the population of different countries. This study aimed to identify and describe studies that have estimated the attributable mortality (AM) associated with SHS exposure in the adult population. Methods A literature search was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and CINAHL databases up to January 2023. Studies that estimated the AM associated with SHS exposure in the adult population and used a prevalence-dependent method were included. The main characteristics of the studies and their results were described. Results Fifty-three studies were included. Most of them were conducted in North America (n = 13), Europe (n = 14) and China (n = 6) and included lung cancer (n = 46) or ischaemic heart disease (n = 22) as causes of death. There was considerable variety in the population under study regarding the relationship with tobacco: non-smokers (n = 30); never-smokers (n = 9); both non and never-smokers (n = 2); the whole population (n = 1) and not known (n = 11). The age at which AM was estimated also varied between studies, ranging from 15 to 40 years and older. Conclusions Studies estimating AM associated with SHS exposure are heterogeneous in terms of the causes of death studied, the age at which mortality is attributed, or the population to which mortality referred: consensus should be reached. Despite their importance, studies assessing AM to SHS are infrequent in low- and middle-income countries.

Abstract:Aim To estimate premature deaths, years of potential labour productivity lost, and productivity losses attributable to alcohol consumption in Spain (2002-2018) and, compare these losses with those from tobacco consumption. Methods Using the human capital approach, data on employment, wages and mortality were analysed from national sources. Alcohol-related mortality risks were drawn from the Spanish Ministry of Health. Labour productivity losses were calculated based on working-age mortality (35-64 years), with adjustments for productivity growth and discount rates. Sensitivity analyses were conducted to validate the findings. Results Between 2002 and 2018, premature deaths and productivity losses related to alcohol consumption decreased significantly, with losses declining from 1,959 million euros in 2002 to 936 million euros in 2018, representing a 52.2% reduction. Although there was also a favourable trend in this area, productivity losses due to tobacco-related deaths amounted to 68.6%. Conclusion This study reveals a marked decline in alcohol-related labour productivity losses in Spain over the analysed period. Nevertheless, tobacco and alcohol continue to pose a greater economic burden, highlighting the need for sustained public health efforts targeting both alcohol and tobacco consumption to mitigate productivity losses.

Health impact assessment of a reduction in ambient PM(2.5) levels in Spain

Abstract:Background: Health effects linked to exposure to high air pollutant levels have been described in depth, and many recent epidemiologic studies have also consistently reported positive associations between exposure to air pollutants at low concentrations (particularly PM(2.5)) and adverse health outcomes. Objective: To estimate the number of avoidable deaths associated with reducing PM(2.5) levels in Spain. Materials and methods: For exposure assessment, we used the US Environmental Protection Agency's Community Multiscale Air Quality model to simulate air pollution levels with a spatial resolution of 18×18 km(2). Two different scenarios were compared, namely, a baseline 2004 scenario based on Spain's National Emissions Inventory and a projected 2011 scenario in which a reduction in PM(2.5) was estimated on the basis of the benefits that might be attained if specific air quality policies were implemented. Using an 18×18 km(2) grid, air pollution data were estimated for the entire Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. For these strata, crude all-cause mortality rates (ICD-10: A00-Y98) were then calculated for the over-30 and 25-74 age groups, taking into account the 2004 population figures corresponding to these same age groups, selected in accordance with the concentration-response functions (Pope CA 3rd, Burnett RT, Thun MJ, Calle EE, Krewski D, Ito K et al. Lung cancer, cardiopulmonary mortality, and long-term exposure to fine particulate air pollution. JAMA 2002; 287:1132-41; Laden F, Schwartz J, Speizer FE, Dockery DW. Health impacts were assessed using the Environmental Benefits Mapping and Analysis Program (BenMAP). Results: Air quality improvement was defined as an average annual reduction of 0.7 μg/m(3) in PM(2.5) levels. Using long-term health impact assessment analysis, we estimated that 1720 (673-2760) all-cause deaths (6 per 100,000 population) in the over-30 age group and 1450 (780-2108) all-cause deaths (5 per 100,000 population) in the 25-74 age group could be prevented annually. Conclusions: The results showed the potential benefits in general mortality which could be expected if pollution control policies were successfully implemented by 2011. A specifically adapted BenMAP could be used as a tool for estimating health impacts associated with changes in air pollution in Spain.

Abstract:Objectives This study aimed to assess multicausal mortality due to diabetes from 2016–2018 in Spain. Specific objectives were to quantify the occurrence of diabetes as an underlying cause or as any registered cause on the death certificate. Materials and methods A cross-sectional descriptive study taking a multicausal approach. Results Diabetes appears as an underlying cause of 2.3% of total deaths in Spain, and as any cause in 6.2%. In patients in whom Diabetes appears as an underlying cause on the death certificates, the 15 most frequent immediate causes are cardiovascular diseases in men(prevalence ratio 1,59)and women (PR1,31). In men, the causes associated with diabetes as any cause were skin diseases(prevalence ratio 1.33), followed by endocrine diseases(prevalence ratio 1.26)and genitourinary diseases (prevalence ratio1.14). In women, the causes associated with the presence of diabetes as any cause were endocrine (prevalence ratio 1.13)and genitourinary (prevalence ratio 1.04)diseases. Conclusions In patients in whom diabetes appears as an underlying cause on the death certificates, the 15 most frequent immediate causes are cardiovascular diseases. In men, the causes associated with the presence of diabetes as any cause of death are skin, endocrine and genitourinary diseases. In women, the causes associated with diabetes as any cause are endocrine and genitourinary.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: To analyse changes in trends in mortality due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Spain by Autonomous Community (AC) and sex during the period 1980–2021. METHODS: Data on population and COPD death records (International Classification of Diseases, 10 th edition, codes J40â–“J44 and J47) were retrieved from the National Institute of Statistics for the study period. Age-standardised mortality rates by AC and sex were assessed using joinpoint regression models. RESULTS: There were 562,668 deaths due to COPD (423,855 in men and 138,813 in women), with an average annual increase of 1.6%. COPD deaths in men increased in most ACs, except for Asturias (â–“0.5% per year). The Canary Islands (14% per year) and Madrid (6.5% per year) had the highest increases. In women, the figures show a wide range of values at the AC level (from a â–“1.4% decrease to 7.9% increase). Nationally, the sex ratio increased from 1980 to 2021. In men, six ACs showed a significant decrease, while in women only two ACs showed a significant decrease. CONCLUSION: A steady decrease in COPD mortality was observed in most ACs for men, while a different trend was observed in women in several ACs. Despite past and ongoing tobacco control initiatives, this condition remains a leading cause of death.

Impact of Total Indoor Smoking Ban on Cardiovascular Disease Hospitalizations and Mortality: The Case of Chile

Abstract:Abstract Introduction The harmful effects of first and secondhand smoking are well-established. Smoke-free laws aim at protecting nonsmokers. This study aimed to assess the impact of the 2013 total ban on indoor smoking in Chile on hospitalizations and deaths of major cardiovascular events. Aims and Methods The logarithm of the monthly hospitalization and death rates, standardized by age for every 100 000 inhabitants, were estimated for ischemic heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, strokes, and a composite outcome of ischemic heart diseases (which includes acute myocardial infarction) and strokes. In addition, interrupted time series with synthetic control groups were used to assess changes in levels and trends after the intervention. Results The total ban on indoor smoking caused significant reductions in death rates for the three diseases studied for age groups above 20 years old. In addition, there were substantial decreases in the post-intervention hospitalization rates for ischemic heart disease: for the 20–44 age group, the decrease was 8.7% compared to the pre-intervention period (p < .01). In comparison, such a reduction was 4% (p < .01) for the ≥65 age group. For acute myocardial infarction, the decrease was 11.5% (p < .01) for the 20–44 age group, while for stroke, it was a 1.2% (p < .01) decrease for the total population. It is estimated that the smoking ban averted 15.6% of the deaths compared with the synthetic control groups. Conclusions The implementation of total smoke-free environments in Chile contributed to the reduction of mortality for main cardiovascular diseases. This study provides additional evidence of causality linking the policy to health outcomes. Implications The total indoor smoking ban significantly affected age-standardized hospitalization and deaths. The number of deaths averted by this policy is estimated at approximately 4758 and 5256 for IHD and stroke, respectively, during the 2013–2017 period (15.6% fewer deaths than predicted by the synthetic control groups). The study contributes to the body of evidence that supports total indoor smoking bans.

Abstract:Objective: Evidence from low- and middle-income countries regarding the effect of smoking in people with diabetes is lacking. Here, we report the association of smoking with mortality in a large cohort of Mexican adults with diabetes. Methods: Participants with diabetes mellitus (self-reported diagnosis, use of antidiabetic medications or HbA1c ≥ 6.5%) aged 35-74 years when recruited into the Mexico City Prospective Study were included. Cox regression confounder-adjusted mortality rate ratios (RRs) associated with baseline smoking status were estimated. Results: Among 15,975 women and 8225 men aged 35-74 years with diabetes but no other comorbidities at recruitment, 2498 (16%) women and 2875 (35%) men reported former smoking and 2753 (17%) women, and 3796 (46%) men reported current smoking. During a median of 17 years of follow-up there were 5087 deaths at ages 35-74 years. Compared with never smoking, all-cause mortality RR was 1.08 (95%CI 1.01-1.17) for former smoking, 1.11 (95%CI 1.03-1.20) for current smoking, 1.09 (95%CI 0.99-1.20) for non-daily smoking, 1.06 (95%CI 0.96-1.16) for smoking < 10 cigarettes/day (median during follow-up 4 cigarettes/day), and 1.28 (95% CI 1.14-1.43) for smoking ≥ 10 cigarettes/day (median during follow-up 15 cigarettes/day). Mortality risk among daily smokers was greatest for COPD, lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and acute diabetic complications. Conclusion: In this cohort of Mexican adults with diabetes, low-intensity daily smoking was associated with increased mortality, despite observing smoking patterns which are different from other populations, and over 5% of total deaths were associated with smoking.

Abstract:Objective: Air pollution is a global public health issue, with particulate matter (PM) being the pollutant with the greatest impact on health. The main objective of this article was to estimate the impact of mortality attributable to particulate pollution in the city of Valencia during the period 2015-2017. Methods: The Health Impact Assessment (HIA) methodology from the Aphekom project was used. Scenarios of a 5 µg/m3 reduction in the annual mean concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 were employed, along with the assumption of meeting the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations in effect during the study period, to estimate both short- and long-term impacts. Results: The estimated average concentrations for 2015-2017 were 18.4 µg/m3 for PM10 and 12.3 µg/m3 for PM2.5. The short-term HIA, assuming a reduction of 5 µg/m3 in the averages, resulted in a total of 65.4 premature deaths that could be postponed during that period (21.8 annually), corresponding to a rate of 2.8 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. In the long term, if PM2.5 concentrations had been reduced by 5 µg/m3, 124 premature deaths could have been postponed annually. Conclusions: The annual average concentrations of these pollutants meet the limits set by European regulations. However, compared to WHO recommendations, PM2.5 levels are higher by 2.3 µg/m3. An air quality scenario in line with WHO recommendations would have resulted in a reduction of 122 premature deaths annually.
