What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the challenge of further improving the spatio - temporal resolution, multiplexing ability and intelligent responsiveness in bio - imaging. Although modern bio - imaging techniques such as X - ray imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, fluorescence microscopy (enhanced by fluorescent proteins), optical super - resolution microscopy and cryo - electron microscopy have made remarkable achievements, achieving high spatio - temporal resolution, multiplexing and intelligent response in complex physiological environments remains an ongoing need. The paper points out that DNA nanotechnology, especially self - assembled DNA nanostructures, shows great potential in the development of nanoprobes and labels for high - performance bio - imaging due to their highly programmable shapes, nanoscale positioning capabilities and structural responsiveness. Therefore, the paper aims to review the latest progress of DNA nanotechnology in bio - imaging, focus on discussing how DNA nanostructures overcome the bottlenecks in bio - imaging, and explore the challenges and opportunities in this field.
