Abstract:A polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-degrading and acylhomoserine-lactone-producing marine bacterium, designated strain PQ-2(T), was isolated from marine biofilm collected from a boat shell at a harbour of Zhoushan island in Zhejiang Province, PR China. Strain PQ-2(T) is Gram-stain-negative, yellow-pigmented, non-motile and short rod-shaped. Optimal growth of strain PQ-2(T) was observed at 32 °C, at pH 7.0 and in 2% (w/v) NaCl. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain PQ-2(T) showed highest similarity to Croceicoccus marinus E4A9(T) (96.3%) followed by Novosphingobium malaysiense MUSC 273(T) (95.6%) and Altererythrobacter marinus H32(T) (95.6%). Phylogenetic analysis with all species of the family Erythrobacteraceae with validly published names revealed that strain PQ-2(T) formed a phyletic line with Croceicoccus marinus E4A9(T) that was distinct from other members of the family Erythrobacteraceae . The sole respiratory quinone was ubiquinone 10 (Q-10). The predominant fatty acids were C18 : 1ω7c, C17 : 1ω6c and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH). The genomic DNA G+C content was 61.7 mol%. In the polar lipid profile, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified phospholipid and one sphingoglycolipid were the major compounds; and another sphingoglycolipid was present in a minor amount. Based on the genotypic and phenotypic data, strain PQ-2(T) represents a novel species of the genus Croceicoccus , for which the name Croceicoccus naphthovorans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is PQ-2(T) ( =CGMCC 1.12805(T) =NBRC 110381(T)). In addition, emended descriptions for the genus Croceicoccus and the species C. marinus are given.
Nocardioides Malaquae Sp. Nov., a Novel Actinobacterium Isolated from Sewage Sludge of a Fisheries Processing Factory.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-positive, rod-shaped, strictly aerobic bacterial strain (Y6 T ) was isolated from a sewage sludge sample collected from a fisheries processing factory in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, PR China. The growth range of NaCl concentration was 0–6.0 % (w/v), with an optimum at 3.0 % (w/v). The temperature range for growth was 10–42 °C, with an optimum at 37 °C. The pH range for growth was pH 7.0–10.0, with an optimum at pH 9.0. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain Y6 T belonged to the genus Nocardioides and showed the highest sequence similarity of 97.8 % to Nocardioides jishulii dk3136 T . The average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain Y6 T and the reference strains were 76.9–81.2 % and 20.6–23.6 %, respectively. Chemotaxonomic analysis indicated that the sole respiratory quinone was MK-8(H 4 ) and the predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C 16 : 0 , 10-methyl-C 17 : 0 and C 18 : 1 ω 9 c . The polar lipid profile was composed of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, four unidentified phospholipids, three unidentified aminolipids and five unidentified lipids. The peptidoglycan was ll -2,6-diaminopimelic acid. On the basis of the phenotypic, genotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic features, strain Y6 T is considered to represent a novel species, for which the name Nocardioides malaquae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Y6 T (=KCTC 49504 T =MCCC 1K04765 T ).

Abstract:A novel bacterial strain, designated as MAH-18 T , was isolated from soil sampled in a flower garden. Cells of strain MAH-18 T were Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, motile, and rod-shaped. The colonies were beige in colour, smooth, and spherical when grown on Reasoner's 2A agar medium. Strain MAH-18 T grew at 20–40 °C, pH 6.0–8.0, and 0–1.0 % NaCl. Cells were able to hydrolyse aesculin, gelatin, and Tween 20. According to the 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons, the isolate was determined to be a member of the genus Nocardioides and most closely related to Nocardioides pyridinolyticus OS4 T (97.9 %), Nocardioides hankookensis DS-30 T (97.9 %), Nocardioides aquiterrae GW-9 T (97.6 %), Nocardioides soli mbc-2 T (97.5 %), Nocardioides conyzicola HWE 2-02 T (97.4 %), and Nocardioides mangrovi GBK3QG-3 T (96.3 %). Strain MAH-18 T has a draft genome size of 4 788 325 bp (eight contigs), 4572 protein-coding genes, 46 tRNA, and three rRNA genes. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain MAH-18 T and the closest type strains were 81.5–83.4 % and 24.4–25.8 %, respectively. In silico genome mining revealed several biosynthetic gene clusters in the genome of the novel strain MAH-18 T . The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain was 72.2 mol% and the predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-8 (H 4 ). The main polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and unknown phospholipids. The major cellular fatty acids were determined to be C 16:0 iso and C 17 : 1 ω 6 c . The DNA–DNA hybridization results and phenotypic, genotypic, and chemotaxonomic data demonstrated that strain MAH-18 T represents a novel species, for which the name Nocardioides agri sp. nov. is proposed, with MAH-18 T as the type strain (=KACC 19744 T =CGMCC 1.13656 T ).

Abstract:A novel, Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and irregular rod-shaped bacterium designated Q22(T) was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of mangrove plant, Kandelia candel collected in Zhangzhou, Fujian province, China. Strain Q22(T) was able to grow at 10-40 degrees C (optimum 30 degrees C), pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum 7.0-8.0) and with 0-5.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0 %). The genomic DNA G+C content was 71.9%. The average nucleotide identity, and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain Q22(T) and the reference strains were 79.7-88.9% and 22.6-37.4%, respectively. The predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-12 and the major fatty acids were anteiso-C-15:0, iso-C-16:0 and anteiso-C-17:0. The major polar lipids of strain Q22(T) were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, one glycolipid and three unidentified lipids. The strain Q22(T) contained 2,4-diaminobutyric acid, alanine acid, glutamic acid and glycine in the peptidoglycans. The phylogenetic analysis and genotypic features, along with the phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, indicate that strain Q22(T) represents a novel species of the genus Agromyces, for which the name Agromyces kandeliae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Q22(T) (=MCCC 1K03340(T) = KCTC 39961(T)).
Nitratireductor Mangrovi Sp. Nov., a Nitrate-Reducing Bacterium Isolated from Mangrove Soil.

Abstract:A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile and short-rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain SY7T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of the mangrove Kandelia obovata of Fugong village, in Zhangzhou, China. The isolate grew at 10–45 °C (optimum 30 °C), pH 6.0–10.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and 0–8% NaCl (optimum 3%, w/v). The 16S rRNA gene sequence and phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain SY7T located within the radiation of genus Nitratireductor and showed the highest sequence similarity of 97.23% to Nitratireductor pacificus MCCC 1A01024T. The DNA G+C content was 64.9%. In silico DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between strain SY7T with reference strains of N. pacificus MCCC 1A01024T, N. basaltis KCTC 22119T and N. aquibiodomus DSM 15645T were 16.7%, 14.3%, 14.7% and 75.2%, 72.6%, 73.5%, respectively. The major isoprenoid quinone was Q-10. The dominant fatty acids were 11-methyl C18:1ω7c, iso-C17:0, C19:0ω8c cyclo and summed feature 8 (C18:1ω6c/C18:1ω7c), a profile that almost matched the other members of the genus Nitratireductor. The predominant polar lipids were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol. On the basis of the phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic analysis, strain SY7T represents a novel species of the genus Nitratireductor, for which the name Nitratireductor mangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is SY7T (= KCTC 72110T = MCCC 1K03723T).

Abstract:A novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain D94-1T, was isolated from soil collected in Liancheng county, Fujian province, PR China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain D94-1T was a member of the genus Nocardioides and was most closely related to Nocardioides salarius DSM 18239T (98.54 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), Nocardioides marinisabuli DSM 18965T (98.30 %), Nocardioides basaltis KCTC 19365T (98.10 %) and Nocardioides dokdonensis KCTC 19309T (97.76 %). Phenotypic characteristics and DNA–DNA relatedness data served to distinguish strain D94-1T from N. salarius , N. marinisabuli , N. basaltis and N. dokdonensis . The chemotaxonomic properties of strain D94-1T were consistent with those of the genus Nocardioides : the cell-wall peptidoglycan type was based on ll-diaminopimelic acid, the predominant menaquinone was MK-8(H4) and the major fatty acids were iso-C16 : 0 (29.15 %) and anteiso-C17 : 0 (21.0 %). The DNA G+C content was 71.8 mol%. On the basis of the evidence presented in this study, strain D94-1T represents a novel species of the genus Nocardioides , for which the name Nocardioides lianchengensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is D94-1T ( = DSM 24663T = CGMCC 4.6858T).
Mesorhizobium Oceanicum Sp. Nov., Isolated from Deep Seawater

Abstract:A novel Gram-staining-negative, oval-shaped (0.4-0.6×0.8-1.0 µm), non-motile strain without flagella, designated B7T, was isolated from deep seawater in the South China Sea. Strain B7T was able to grow at 25-40 °C (optimum 35 °C), at pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and with 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 3 %). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that the predominant isoprenoid quinone was Q-10 and the dominant fatty acids were C19 : 0 cyclo 8c and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω7c/C18 : 1ω6c). The polar lipids of strain B7T were diphosphatidyglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, one unknown aminophospholipid, one unknown glycolipid and three unknown lipids. The DNA G+C content of the genomic DNA was 65.1 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain B7T belongs to the genus Mesorhizobium with similarities ranging from 96.2 to 97.5 %. Phylogenetic analyses of housekeeping genes recA, atpD and glnII indicated that strain B7T represented a distinct evolutionary lineage with the genus Mesorhizobium. OrthoANI values between strain B7T and related strains of the genus Mesorhizobium (<80 %) were lower than the threshold value of 95 % ANI relatedness for species demarcation. Therefore, strain B7T is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Mesorhizobium, for which the name Mesorhizobium oceanicumsp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is B7T (=KCTC 42783T=MCCC 1K02305T).
Oceanirhabdus Sediminicola Gen. Nov., Sp. Nov., an Anaerobic Bacterium Isolated from Sea Sediment

Abstract:A novel anaerobic bacterium, designated NH-JN4(T) was isolated from a sediment sample collected in the South China Sea. Cells were Gram-stain-positive, spore-forming, peritrichous and rod-shaped (0.5-1.2×2.2-7 µm). The temperature and pH ranges for growth were 22-42 °C and pH 6.0-8.5. Optimal growth occurred at 34-38 °C and pH 6.5-7.0. The NaCl concentration range for growth was 0.5-6 % (w/v) with an optimum of 2.5 %. Catalase and oxidase were not produced. Substrates which could be utilized were peptone, tryptone, yeast extract, beef extract and glycine. Main fermentation products from PYG medium were formate, acetate, butyrate and ethanol. Strain NH-JN4(T) could utilize sodium sulfite as an electron acceptor. No respiratory quinone was detected. The predominant fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0, C16 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0 and C16 : 0 DMA. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and glycolipids. The DNA G+C content was 35.8 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain NH-JN4(T) was a member of family Clostridiaceae, and was most closely related to Clostridium limosum ATCC 25620(T), Clostridium proteolyticum DSM 3090(T), Clostridium histolyticum ATCC 19401(T) and Clostridium tepidiprofundi SG 508(T), showing 94.0, 93.0, 92.9 and 92.3 % sequence similarity, respectively. On the basis of phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic properties, strain NH-JN4(T) represents a novel species of a new genus in the family Clostridiaceae, for which the name Oceanirhabdus sediminicola gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the type species is NH-JN4(T) ( = JCM 18501(T) = CCTCC AB 2013103(T) = KCTC 15322(T)).
Nocardioides imazamoxiresistens sp. nov. Isolated from the Activated Sludge

Abstract:A Gram-staining-positive actinomycete named YZH12 T was isolated from the sediment of the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China. Cells were aerobic, non-spore forming, non-motile, short rod (0.4–0.6 × 0.5–1.0 μm) or coccus (0.4–0.6 μm in diameter). Colonies were circular, smooth, and beige to yellowish. Growth occurred at 15–42 °C (optimal 28 °C), pH 5.0–9.0 (optimal 7.0), and 0–10% (w/v) NaCl (optimal 2%). The strain could tolerate 1500 mg/L of imazamox. Strain YZH12 T showed 98.7% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity Nocardioides zeae JM-1068 T and less than 97% similarities with other type strains in the genus Nocardioides . Phylogenetic analysis based on genome and 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain YZH12 T was phylogenetically affiliated to the genus Nocardioides and formed a subclade with N. zeae JM-1068 T and N. alkalitolerans DSM 16699 T . The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between YZH12 T and closely related type strain N. zeae JM-1068 T were 79.9% and 35.2%, respectively. The major fatty acids (> 5%) were C18: 1ω9c, iso-C16: 0, C16: 0, C17: 1ω8cand C18: 0; the major respiratory quinone was MK-8(H4); and the polar lipids profiles were diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), glycolipid (GL), two aminophospholipids (APL1, APL2), and an unknown polar lipid (L). The genomic DNA G + C content is 73.5%. Based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic analyses, and genomic data, strain YZH12 T represents a novel species of the genus Nocardioides , for which the name Nocardioides imazamoxiresistens YZH12 T is proposed, with strain YZH12 T (= KCTC 49964 T = MCCC 1K0892 T ) as the type strain.

Polyphasic Taxonomic Characterisation of a Novel Strain As Pararhizobium Haloflavum Sp. Nov., Isolated from Soil Samples Near a Sewage Treatment Tank

Abstract:A Gram-stain negative, aerobic, motile and ovoid- to rod-shaped bacteria strain, designated XC0140T, was isolated from soil samples near the sewage treatment tank of a chemical factory in Zhejiang Province, China, and subjected to polyphasic taxonomic investigation. Strain XC0140T grew at 10–37 °C and pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, 35 °C and pH 7.5) and with 0–17% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1%). According to phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain XC0140T was assigned to the genus Pararhizobium with high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 95.97% to “Pararhizobium helanshanense CCNWQTX14T”, followed by Pararhizobium sphaerophysae CCNWGS0238T (95.95%). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that strain XC0140T contains ubiquinone-10 as the predominant respiratory quinone and possessed summed feature 8 (comprising C18: 1 ω7c and/or ω6c), 11-methyl C18:1 ω7c, C18: 0 and C16: 0 as predominant forms of fatty acids. The polar lipids of strain XC0140T consisted of seven phospholipids (PL), two aminolipids (AL), one glycolipid (GL) and three unidentified lipids (L1, L2 and L3). The DNA G+C content was 62.7 mol%. Based on the polyphasic taxonomic characterization, strain XC0140T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Pararhizobium, for which the name Pararhizobium haloflavum sp. nov. is proposed. Nocardiopsis terrae sp. nov., a halophilic actinomycete isolated from saline soil

Abstract:A Gram-positive, moderately halophilic, facultatively alkaliphilic, catalase- and oxidase-positive, obligately aerobic, filamentous actinomycete strain, designated YIM 90022(T), was isolated from saline soil collected from the Qaidam Basin, north-west China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the new isolate was a member of the genus Nocardiopsis and the sequence similarities between the isolate and the type strains of members of the genus Nocardiopsis were in the range of 95.1-98.7%. Phenotypic and chemotaxonomic properties of this organism also indicated that strain YIM 90022(T) was a member of the genus Nocardiopsis. The strain grew well on most of the media tested, producing yellow-white to deep brown substrate mycelium and white aerial mycelium. Light gray to deep brown diffusible pigments were produced. The substrate mycelium was well developed and fragmented with age; the aerial mycelium produced long, straight to flexuous spore chains with non-motile, smooth-surfaced, rod-shaped spores on them. The strain grew in the presence of 1-15% (w/v) total salts (optimum, 3-5%) and at pH 6.0-10.5 (optimum, pH 8.5) and 10-45 degrees C (optimum, 30 degrees C). Whole-cell hydrolysates of strain YIM 90022(T) contained meso-diaminopimelic acid and no diagnostic sugars. The predominant menaquinones were MK-10(H(4)), MK-9(H(8)), MK-10(H(6)) and MK-10(H(8)). Polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylmethylethanolamine. The major cellular fatty acids were iso-C(16:0), anteiso-C(17:0), 10-methyl-C(18:0) and 10-methyl-C(17:0). The DNA G + C content of strain YIM 90022(T) was 71.5 mol%. The combination of phylogenetic analysis, DNA-DNA relatedness data, phenotypic characteristics and chemotaxonomic data supported the suggestion that strain YIM 90022(T) represents a new species of the genus Nocardiopsis, for which the name Nocardiopsis terrae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YIM 90022(T) (=CCTCC AA 208011(T) =KCTC 19431(T)).
Nocardioides bizhenqiangii sp. nov. and Nocardioides renjunii sp. nov., isolated from soil and faeces of Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii) on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Abstract:Two novel strain pairs (HM61T/HM23 and S-34T/S-58) were isolated from soil and the faeces of Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii) collected at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of PR China. All four new isolates were aerobic, non-motile, Gram-stain-positive, catalase-positive, oxidase-negative, and short rod-shaped bacteria. The results of phylogenetic analysis based on the full-length 16S rRNA genes and 283 core genomic genes indicated that the four strains were separated into two independent branches belonging to the genus Nocardioides. Strains HM61T and HM23 were most closely related to Nocardioides pelophilus THG T63T (98.58 and 98.65 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). Strains S-34T and S-58 were most closely related to Nocardioides okcheonensis MMS20-HV4-12T (98.89 and 98.89 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). The G+C contents of the genomic DNA of strains HM61T and S-34T were 70.6 and 72.5 mol%, respectively. Strains HM61T, S-34T and the type strains of closely related species in the analysis had average nucleotide identity values of 75.4-90.5 % as well as digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between 20.1 and 40.8 %, which clearly indicated that the four isolates represent two novel species within the genus Nocardioides. The chemotaxonomic characteristics of strains HM61T and S-34T were consistent with the genus Nocardioides. The major fatty acids of all four strains were iso-C16 : 0, C17 : 1 ω8c or C18 : 1 ω9c. For strains HM61T and S-34T, MK-8(H4) was the predominant respiratory quinone, ll-2,6-diaminopimelic acid was the diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan, and the polar lipids profiles were composed of diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. Based on phylogenetic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic data, we propose that strains HM61T and S-34T represent two novel species of the genus Nocardioides, respectively, with the names Nocardioides bizhenqiangii sp. nov. and Nocardioides renjunii sp. nov. The type strains are HM61T (=GDMCC 4.343T=JCM 36399T) and S-34T (=CGMCC 4.7664T=JCM 33792T).

Abstract:A novel Fe(III)-reducing bacterium, designated GSS01(T), was isolated from a forest soil sample using a liquid medium containing acetate and ferrihydrite as electron donor and electron acceptor, respectively. Cells of strain GSS01(T) were strictly anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, motile, non-spore-forming and slightly curved rod-shaped. Growth occurred at 16-40 °C and optimally at 30 °C. The DNA G+C content was 60.9 mol%. The major respiratory quinone was MK-8. The major fatty acids were C(16:0), C(18:0) and C(16:1)ω7c/C(16:1)ω6c. Strain GSS01(T) was able to grow with ferrihydrite, Fe(III) citrate, Mn(IV), sulfur, nitrate or anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate, but not with fumarate, as sole electron acceptor when acetate was the sole electron donor. The isolate was able to utilize acetate, ethanol, glucose, lactate, butyrate, pyruvate, benzoate, benzaldehyde, m-cresol and phenol but not toluene, p-cresol, propionate, malate or succinate as sole electron donor when ferrihydrite was the sole electron acceptor. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain GSS01(T) was most closely related to Geobacter sulfurreducens PCA(T) (98.3% sequence similarity) and exhibited low similarities (94.9-91.8%) to the type strains of other species of the genus Geobacter. The DNA-DNA relatedness between strain GSS01(T) and G. sulfurreducens PCA(T) was 41.4 ± 1.1%. On the basis of phylogenetic analysis, phenotypic characterization and physiological tests, strain GSS01(T) is believed to represent a novel species of the genus Geobacter, and the name Geobacter soli sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is GSS01(T) ( =KCTC 4545(T) =MCCC 1K00269(T)).
Bacillus huizhouensis sp. nov., isolated from a paddy field soil

Abstract:A Gram-stain positive, facultative aerobic bacterium, designated as strain GSS03 T , was isolated from a paddy field soil. The cells were observed to be endospore forming, rod-shaped and motile with flagella. The organism was found to grow optimally at 35 °C at pH 7.0 and in the presence of 1 % NaCl. The strain was classified as a novel taxon within the genus Bacillus on the basis of phenotypic and phylogenetic analyses. The closest phylogenetic relatives were identified as Bacillus psychrosaccharolyticus DSM 6 T (97.61 %), Bacillus muralis DSM 16288 T (97.55 %), Bacillus asahii JCM 12112 T (97.48 %), Bacillus simplex DSM 1321 T (97.48 %) and “ Bacillus frigoritolerans ” DSM 8801 T (97.38 %). The menaquinone was identified as MK-7, the major cellular fatty acid was identified as anteiso-C 15:0 and the major cellular polar lipids as phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and three unknown polar lipids. The DNA G+C content was determined to be 40.2 mol%. The DNA–DNA relatedness with the closest relatives was below 48 %. Therefore, on the basis of all the results, strain GSS03 T is considered to represent a novel species within the genus Bacillus , for which the name Bacillus huizhouensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is GSS03 T (=KCTC 33172 T =CCTCC AB 2013237 T ).

Abstract:Strain Mg02 T was isolated from roots of Eucommia ulmoides Oliv. collected from Changde City, Hunan Province, China. Strain Mg02 T , which exhibited distinct chemotaxonomic characteristics of the genus Nocardiopsis : cell-wall chemotype III/C, i.e., meso -diaminopimelic acid as diagnostic amino acid in whole-cell hydrolysates and menaquinone MK-10 with variable degrees of saturation in the side chain as the predominant isoprenoid quinone, was investigated by a polyphasic approach to determine their taxonomic position. Sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene indicated that strain Mg02 T is affiliated to the genus Nocardiopsis , having highest sequence similarity to Nocardiopsis flavescens CGMCC 4.5723 T (99.1%) and <98.7% to other species of the genus Nocardiopsis with validly published names. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene indicated strain Mg02 T formed a separate evolutionary clade, suggesting that it could be a novel Nocardiopsis species. Phylogenomic analysis showed that strain Mg02 T was closely related to N. flavescens CGMCC 4.5723 T and distinct from the latter according to the clustering patterns. The Average Nucleotide Identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain Mg02 T and N. flavescens CGMCC 4.5723 T were far below the species-level thresholds. Based on phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, we think that strain Mg02 T should represent a novel Nocardiopsis species, for which the name Nocardiopsis changdeensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Mg02 T (=MCCC 1K06174 T = JCM 34709 T ).

Abstract:Two strains, CN44(T) and CN47(T), isolated from marine sediment of the East China Sea, were characterized by using a polyphasic approach. The isolates were Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming rods. The chemotaxonomic characteristics of these isolates included the presence of C(18 : 1)omega7c, C(16 : 0), iso-C(15 : 0) 2-OH and/or C(16 : 1)omega7c and C(10 : 0) 3-OH as the major cellular fatty acids and Q-8 as the predominant ubiquinone. The DNA G+C contents of strains CN44(T) and CN47(T) were 62.5 and 56.3 mol%, respectively. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain CN44(T) was related to members of the genus Marinobacterium. The most closely related described organism was the type strain of Marinobacterium rhizophilum (95.3 % sequence similarity). Strain CN47(T) showed the highest sequence similarity to the type strain of Marinobacterium stanieri (97.8 %) and <97 % similarity to other type strains of described Marinobacterium species. The level of DNA-DNA relatedness between strain CN47(T) and M. stanieri DSM 7027(T) was 46 %. On the basis of phenotypic and genotypic properties, strains CN44(T) and CN47(T) represent two novel species within the genus Marinobacterium, for which the names Marinobacterium nitratireducens sp. nov. (type strain, CN44(T) =CGMCC 1.7286(T) =JCM 15523(T)) and Marinobacterium sediminicola sp. nov. (type strain, CN47(T) =CGMCC 1.7287(T) =JCM 15524(T)) are proposed.
Isolation and Characterization of a New Carbendazim-Degrading Ralstonia Sp. Strain

Abstract:A bacterial strain 1-1 capable of utilizing carbendazim was isolated from carbendazim-treated Qiyang red soils Hunan Province, China. It is gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile with peritrichous flagella, which formed round, smooth, convex and transparent colonies of about 1.1 mm diameter after 3 days of incubation on the isolation and purification medium using carbendazim as the sole carbon and energy sources. The degradation ratios of carbendazim by strain 1-1 were 19.16 and 95.96 in the carbendazim (500 mg/l)-degrading medium and the carbendazim (500 mg/l)-degrading medium supplemented with yeast extract (150 mg/l) within 24 days, respectively. Strain 1-1 was identified as Ralstonia sp. (β-Proteobacteria) based on the results of phenotypic features, G+C mol and phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA. Strain 1-1 could become a new bacterial resource for biodegrading carbendazim and might play a bioremediation role for soils contaminated by carbendazim.

Abstract:A Gram-negative, aerobic, neutrophilic, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain CN85(T), was isolated from a sediment sample collected from the East China Sea and was subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic characterization. This isolate grew in the presence of 0.5-6.0% (w/v) NaCl and at 20-40 degrees C; optimum growth was observed with 3% (w/v) NaCl and at 35 degrees C. Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that Q-8 was the predominant respiratory quinone and that iso-C(15:0), iso-C(11:0) 3-OH, iso-C(17:1) omega 9c, iso-C(17:0), iso-C(11:0) and C(16:0) were the major fatty acids. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 57.8 mol%. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the isolate was affiliated to the genus Microbulbifer. Strain CN85(T) exhibited most phylogenetic affinity with respect to the type strain of Microbulbifer maritimus (97.0% sequence similarity) and showed less than 97% sequence similarity with respect to other described Microbulbifer species with known 16S rRNA gene sequences. The DNA-DNA hybridization between strain CN805(T) and M. maritimus JCM 12187(T) was 44%. On the basis of phenotypic and genotypic data, strain CN85(T) represents a novel species of the genus Microbulbifer, for which the name Microbulbifer donghaiensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CN85(T) (=CGMCC 1.7063(T) =JCM 15145(T)).
Description of Erythrobacter Mangrovi Sp. Nov., an Aerobic Bacterium from Rhizosphere Soil of Mangrove Plant ( Kandelia Candel )

Abstract:A novel Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain EB310T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of mangrove plant Kandelia candel in Fugong village, Zhangzhou, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain EB310T belonged to the genus Erythrobacter, clustering with Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T, Erythrobacter lutimaris KCTC 42109T and Erythrobacter marisflavi KCTC 62896T, and showed the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.5% to Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T. The genomic average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain EB310T and the reference strains were 71.0–75.5% and 19.8–20.0%, respectively. Growth ranges of the isolate occurred at 10–45 °C (optimum 28–30 °C), pH 5.5–9.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and 0–9.0% NaCl concentrations (optimum 2.0%, w/v). The strain did not produce bacteriochlorophyll a and flexirubin, but produced carotenoids. The strain contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone and summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c/C16:1 ω6c) and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω6c/C18:1 ω7c) as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylcholine. Differential phenotypic characteristics, together with chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic distinctiveness, indicated that strain EB310T is distinguishable from other members of the genus Erythrobacter. On the basis of the data exhibited, strain EB310T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Erythrobacter, for which the name Erythrobacter mangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is EB310T (= KCTC 72109T = MCCC 1K03690T). The genomic DNA G + C content is 62.9 mol%.
