Abstract:Based on the theories of dynamic capability and organization change,this paper puts forward a theoretical framework of international entrepreneurial strategies of SMEs.In accordance with this theoretical framework,it classifies SMEs' international entrepreneurial strategies into four typical modes,namely the flexibility adaptive strategy,the vision-driven strategy,the rule-following strategy and the pressure-impelling strategy.According to the data obtained from the interview,it analyzes and contrasts critical behaviors and their characteristics of the firms which adopt four typical international entrepreneurial strategies in the internationalization process.

Abstract:International strategic management is a comprehensive and ongoing process of management planning aimed at developing and implementing strategies that enable businesses to compete effectively in an international environment. The process of developing an international strategy is of course often referred to as "strategic planning". Strategic planning is usually the responsibility of senior management at company headquarters and in the company's domestic and international operating branches. Most large companies also have population planners who provide technical assistance to top management in formulating strategy. For example, five Disney planners first collected the demographic and economic data policy makers needed, and then used that data to select France as the location for Euro Disney. International strategic management leads to the formulation of various international strategies. It is a comprehensive framework for achieving the company's fundamental goals. Conceptually, there are many similarities between developing strategic capabilities in one country and developing competitive strategies in many countries. According to Hill and Jones (2012), international strategic management is “the process of establishing, developing, and implementing corporate strategic actions aimed at gaining competitive advantage in global markets”. Method Descriptive qualitative method is a research method used to gain a deep understanding of phenomena through description, interpretation and analysis of qualitative data.

Case Selection Biases in Management Research: the Implications for International Business Studies

Abstract:This paper reports on a bibliometric analysis of peer-reviewed articles in business and management studies, initially conducted in 2004 and repeated in 2009. It reveals that a small number of firms (11 in 2004) account for over 50% of the total 'hit count' for all firms in our list of the largest 200 multinationals. The major implication of this finding is that we gain most of our academic insights and our 'best-practice' lessons on management from a small, unrepresentative group of 'exemplar' companies. Seven case selection biases are identified, showing a disproportionate focus on a sub-set of firms that are: global and bi-regional; US-based; large; manufacturers; in dominant positions in important industries; long-terrn survivors; owners of strong brands. In this paper, we examine the first of these biases most closely. We conclude that business and management studies tend to overestimate the benefits and underestimate the difficulties of internationalisation.

Abstract:There are a lot of research works as well as books written about SCM strategy, but few books are based on strategic theory of management in a pure sense. As a result, theories themselves are shallow and not in depth. In other words, SCM focuses on a strategic area of supply chain activities while, however, there are few books written on a basis of the theoretical or traditional articles of management strategy in a pure sense. The aims of this article are to review the theoretical strategy formulation concepts out of 50 books published in 2004 through 1990 while we had made logistics literature studies in the middle of 1995 with almost same approach and contributed to academic journals in Japan. This type of SCM literature study is a brand new research and the first attempt of research activity in Japan. As a survey result, it has made clear that most of books paid little attention to structural aspects of SCM strategy formulation as a state of art SCM model linked with management strategy theory. Therefore, we have reviewed the contents of SCM strategy written in fifty books and finally proposed our own SCM strategy structure and formulation based on strategic theories extracted from traditional international management theory as well as strategic theory of classical management.

Abstract:The present research focuses on whether the different combinations of the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) international scale and scope affect their international performance differently. The major purpose of this research is to study the paramount relationship between the SMEs’ international strategies and international performance. With a sample composed of 307 international SMEs, our empirical analysis defines three different strategic groups regarding the scale and scope of internationalization, that is, a high, medium and low international exposure of the firms. The scope, as an important international strategic dimension, is taken from two angles, the number of countries and the number of regional blocs where the firms operate. We assessed the strategic groups’ implications on the firms’ international performance. The latter was taken as a multidimensional construct composed of the financial, strategic and overall international performance respectively. We used the hierarchical regression analysis to test our hypotheses, and major results emerged. Higher levels of commitment with the international markets lead to better financial, strategic and overall international performances. These results are of utmost importance from the theoretical point of view and for the strategic decision-making of SMEs, opening new avenues for future studies.

This discourse delves into the myriad challenges facing multinational corporations, such as policy risks, legal framework disparities, cultural differentials, economic and monetary policy uncertainties, and disparate rates of technological advancement. Moreover, the article conducts a profound analysis of theories pertaining to international business and multinational management, cultural variance theories, as well as strategic management theories, with the aim of furnishing a robust theoretical foundation for multinational operations and management. Abstract:Competitive pressures and changes in the economic climate have forced management of international companies to evaluate afresh the operation and structure of international supply chains. Swings between “local for local” and “international supply centre” strategies for manufacturing and distribution have dramatic implications for organisation, structure, control systems and costs to serve the customer. New approaches to managing change in international chains have emerged and been proven in recent years. This article describes the concepts underlying these approaches, the barriers that need to be overcome and some of the lessons learned from experience of implementation.

Abstract:This research examines the role of branding in the Portuguese SME internationalization process and how the internationalization and brand strategies are articulated in the search for a better business performance within a competitive framework and increasing competitiveness environment. The article aims specifically at: (a) the strategy of creation and brand management; (b) the relevance given to the brand; (c) the importance of brand creation and management in the internationalization strategy. We chose a qualitative methodology, based on four cases studies. Our results suggest that branding strategies of SME cannot be compared with the strategies of multinationals. Budgetary constraints and human resources lead companies to invest in low-cost strategies. The importance of the brand lies in the distinction that allows competition with similar products within the sectors. Management of the brand does not come up as an essential strategy for the internationalization of a Portuguese SME.

Abstract:Supply chain management (SCM) strives for creating competitive advantage and value for customers by integrating business processes from end users through original suppliers. However, the question of how SCM influences the value of a firm is not fully answered. Various conceptual frameworks that explain the coherence of SCM and company value, comprehended as value-based SCM, are well accepted in scientific research, but quantitative approaches to value-based SCM are found rather seldom. The book contributes to this research gap by proposing quantitative models that allow for assessing influences of SCM on the value of a firm. Opposed to existing models that limit the observation to chosen facets of SCM or selected value drivers, this holistic approach is adequate to • reflect configurational and operational aspects of SCM, • cover all phases of the product life cycle, • financially compare value impacts of profitability-related and asset-related value drivers, and • assess influences of dynamics and uncertainties on company value.
