Abstract:In this paper we study eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian on conformally flat Riemannian manifolds. In particular we establish some universal inequality for eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian on the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^n(-1)$.

Abstract:We study the problem of finding complete conformal metrics determined by some symmetric function of the modified Schouten tensor on compact manifolds with boundary; which reduces to a Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence of the solution under some suitable conditions. In particular, we prove that every smooth compact n-dimensional manifold with boundary, with n >= 3, admits a complete Riemannian metric g whose Ricci curvature Ric(g) and scalar curvature R-g satisfydet(Ric(g) - R(g)g) = const.This result generalizes Aviles and McOwen's in the scalar curvature case.

Abstract:In this short survey, we derive some weyl-type universal inequalities of eigenvalues of the Laplacian on a closed Riemannian manifold of nonnegative Ricci curvature. We also give upper bounds for the $L_{\infty}$ norm of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian in the same setting. A detailed proof of these results did not seem to appear in the literature but the results follow from a simple combination of Milman's work and Cheng-Li's work.

Abstract:We prove universal inequalities for Laplacian eigenvalues with Dirichlet boundary conditions on subsets of certain discrete groups. The study of universal inequalities on Riemannian manifolds was initiated by Weyl, Polya, Yau, and others. Here we focus on a version by Cheng and Yang. Specifically, we prove Yang-type universal inequalities for Cayley graphs of finitely generated amenable groups, as well as for the d-regular tree (simple random walk on the free group).

Abstract:We verify that if M is a compact minimal submanifold with boundary in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{k}\lambda _i\ge \frac{2n\pi }{e}k^{\frac{n+2}{n}}{{\,\mathrm{vol}\,}}(M)^{-\frac{2}{n}}$$, where $$\lambda _i$$ is the ith Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Laplacian on M. This provides an evidence for that the generalized Pólya conjecture is true. We also prove that if M is a complete and non-compact minimal submanifold in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\gamma _n N_\alpha (V)\le \int _M(V-\alpha )_{-}^{n/2}(x)dx$$, where $$N_\alpha (V)$$ is the number of eigenvalues($$\le \alpha $$) of the Schrödinger operator $$-\Delta +V$$ on M and $$\gamma _n$$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on n.

Abstract:This paper studies eigenvalues of the drifting Laplacian on compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary (possibly empty) and provides a general inequality for them. Using the general inequality, we obtain universal inequalities for eigenvalues of the drifting Laplacian of Payne-Pólya-Weinberger-Yang type for manifolds supporting some special functions. We also obtain a lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the square of the drifting Laplacian on compact manifolds with boundary under some condition on the Bakry-Ricci curvature.

Abstract:We prove that for a compact Finsler manifold M with nonnegative weighted Ricci curvature,if its first closed(resp.Neumann)eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian attains the sharp lower bound,then M is isometric to a circle(resp.a segment).Moreover,a lower bound of the first eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary condition is also estimated.These generalize the corresponding results in recent literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the Dirichlet eigenvalue problems of second order elliptic operators in divergence form on bounded domains of complete Riemannian manifolds. We discuss the cases of submanifolds immersed in a Euclidean space, Riemannian manifolds admitting spherical eigenmaps, and Riemannian manifolds which admit l functions ${f_\alpha : M \longrightarrow \mathbb{R}}$ such that ${\langle \nabla f_\alpha, \nabla f_\beta \rangle = \delta_{\alpha \beta}}$ and Δf α = 0, where ∇ is the gradient operator. Some inequalities for lower order eigenvalues of these problems are established. As applications of these results, we obtain some universal inequalities for lower order eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian problem. In particular, the universal inequality for eigenvalues of the Laplacian on a unit sphere is optimal.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish universal inequalities for eigenvalues of the clamped plate problem on compact submanifolds of Euclidean spaces, of spheres and of real, complex and quaternionic projective spaces. Abstract:In this paper, we obtain universal inequalities for eigenvalues of the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of the Laplacian and the clamped plate problem on a bounded domain in an n-dimensional (n >= 3) noncompact simply connected complete Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature Sec satisfying -K-2 <= Sec <= -k(2), where K >= k >= 0 are constants. When M is H-n (-1) (n >= 3), these inequalities become ones previously found by Cheng and Yang.

Abstract:Let $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^d$ be a bounded domain and let $\lambda_1, \lambda_2, \dots$ denote the sequence of eigenvalues of the Laplacian subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions. We consider inequalities for $\lambda_n$ that are independent of the domain $\Omega$. A well--known such inequality follows from the Berezin--Li--Yau approach. The purpose of this paper is to point out a certain degree of flexibility in the Li--Yau approach. We use it to prove a new type of two-point inequality which are strictly stronger than what is implied by Berezin-Li-Yau itself. For example, when $d=2$, one has $ 2 \lambda_n + \lambda_{2n} \geq 10 \pi n/|\Omega|.$

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain "universal" inequalities for eigenvalues of the weighted Hodge Laplacian on a compact self-shrinker of Euclidean space. These inequalities generalize the Yang-type and Levitin-Parnovski inequalities for eigenvalues of the Laplacian and Laplacian. From the recursion formula of Cheng and Yang \cite{ChengYang07}, the Yang-type inequality for eigenvalues of the weighted Hodge Laplacian are optimal in the sense of the order of eigenvalues.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive "universal" inequalities for the sums of eigenvalues of the Hodge de Rham Laplacian on Euclidean closed Submanifolds and of eigenvalues of the Kohn Laplacian on the Heisenberg group. These inequalities generalize the Levitin-Parnovski inequality obtained for the sums of eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian of a bounded Euclidean domain. New Reilly and Asada inequalities are also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we compute universal inequalities of eigenvalues of a large class of second-order elliptic differential operators in divergence form, that includes, e.g., the Laplace and Cheng-Yau operators, on a bounded domain in a complete Riemannian manifolds isometrically immersed in Euclidean space. A key step in order to obtain the sequence of our estimates is to get the right Yang-type first inequality. We also prove some inequalities for manifolds supporting some special functions and tensors.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove sharp isoperimetric inequalities for lower order eigenvalues of Neumann Laplacian on bounded domains in both compact and noncompact rank-1 symmetric spaces. Our results generalize the work of Wang and Xia for bounded domains in the hyperbolic space (Xia and Wang in Math Ann 385(1–2):863–879, 2023), and Szegö–Weinberger inequalities in rank-1 symmetric spaces obtained by Aithal and Santhanam (Trans Am Math Soc 348(10):3955–3965, 1996).

Abstract:In this paper, we study a first Dirichlet eigenfunction of the weighted $p$-Laplacian on a bounded domain in a complete weighted Riemannian manifold. By constructing gradient estimates for a first eigenfunction, we obtain some relationships between weighted $p$-Laplacian first eigenvalues. As an immediate application, we also obtain some eigenvalue comparison results between the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of the weighted Laplacian, the first clamped plate eigenvalue and the first buckling eigenvalue.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with upper bounds of eigenvalues of Laplace operator on compact Riemannian manifolds and finite graphs. While on the former the Laplace operator is generated by the Riemannian metric, on the latter it reflects combinatorial structure of a graph. Respectively, eigenvalues have many applications in geometry as well as in combinatorics and in other fields of mathematics. We develop a universal approach to upper bounds on both continuous and discrete structures based upon certain properties of the corresponding heat kernel. This approach is perhaps much more general than its realization here. Basically, we start with the following entries: 1◦ an underlying space M with a finite measure μ; 2◦ a well-defined Laplace operator ∆ on functions on M so that ∆ is a self-adjoint operator in L(M,μ) with a discrete spectrum; 3◦ if M has a boundary, then the boundary condition should be chosen so that it does not disrupt self-adjointness of ∆ and is of dissipative nature; 4◦ a distance function dist(x, y) on M so that |∇dist| ≤ 1 for an appropriate notion of gradient.
