Abstract:The Gemini High-resolution Optical SpecTrograph (GHOST) at Gemini South started regular queue operations in early 2024, bringing a long-sought open-access capability to the astronomy community. This research note briefly describes an effort to provide easy-to-access reduced spectra for GHOST programs from all Gemini partner countries and encourage prompt data exploration and analysis. Since March 2024, over 4500 spectra have been reduced and made available to principal investigators (PIs). The aim is to increase demand for GHOST and expedite the publication of scientific results.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to improve the accessibility and utilization rate of the data of GHOST (Gemini High - resolution Optical SpecTrograph), a high - resolution spectrometer at the Gemini South Observatory. Specifically, the research team hopes to promote astronomers' rapid exploration and analysis of observational data by providing easily accessible, pre - processed spectral data. The following are the specific problems that this paper attempts to solve: 1. **Lower the threshold for data processing**: Many researchers may not possess complex data - processing skills or be unwilling to spend a great deal of time on data pre - processing. By providing pre - processed spectral data, the research team hopes that users can check their data without having to install software or run data - reduction processes. 2. **Accelerate the release of scientific achievements**: By providing "science - ready" data, the speed of data analysis and paper publication can be increased, thereby enhancing the efficiency of scientific research. 3. **Enhance data trust**: By providing high - quality pre - processed data, the research team hopes to increase users' trust in the Gemini data - reduction software and archive. 4. **Establish the value of data heritage**: After the expiration of the proprietary period (usually 12 months), high - quality pre - processed spectral data will be made public to the entire community to ensure that these data still have important scientific value in the future. 5. **Encourage more use of GHOST**: By simplifying the data - acquisition and - processing procedures, more researchers are attracted to use GHOST for observations, thereby increasing the demand for this instrument. To achieve these goals, since March 2024, the research team has begun to provide pre - processed spectral data for all GHOST projects in Gemini - partner countries and automatically conducts data - reduction work every day to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the data.
