Abstract:In the 70's Igusa developed a uniform theory for local zeta functions and oscillatory integrals attached to polynomials with coefficients in a local field of characteristic zero. In the present article this theory is extended to the case of rational functions, or, more generally, meromorphic functions f/g, with coefficients in a local field of characteristic zero. This generalization is far from being straightforward due to the fact that several new geometric phenomena appear. Also, the oscillatory integrals have two different asymptotic expansions: the 'usual' one when the norm of the parameter tends to infinity, and another one when the norm of the parameter tends to zero. The first asymptotic expansion is controlled by the poles (with negative real parts) of all the twisted local zeta functions associated to the meromorphic functions f/g - c, for certain special values c. The second expansion is controlled by the poles (with positive real parts) of all the twisted local zeta functions associated to f/g.

Mordell-Tornheim zeta functions and functional equations for Herglotz-Zagier type functions

Abstract:The Mordell-Tornheim zeta function and the Herglotz-Zagier function $F(x)$ are two important functions in Mathematics. By generalizing a special case of the former, namely $\Theta(z, x)$, we show that the theories of these functions are inextricably woven. We obtain a three-term functional equation for $\Theta(z, x)$ as well as decompose it in terms of the Herglotz-Hurwitz function $\Phi(z, x)$. This decomposition can be conceived as a two-term functional equation for $\Phi(z, x)$. Through this result, we are not only able to get Zagier's identity relating $F(x)$ with $F(1/x)$ but also two-term functional equation for Ishibashi's generalization of $F(x)$, namely, $\Phi_k(x)$ which has been sought after for over twenty years. We further generalize $\Theta(z, x)$ by incorporating two Gauss sums, each associated to a Dirichlet character, and decompose it in terms of an interesting integral which involves the Fekete polynomial as well as the character polylogarithm. This result gives infinite families of functional equations of Herglotz-type integrals out of which only two, due to Kumar and Choie, were known so far. The first one among the two involves the integral $J(x)$ who special values have received a lot of attention, more recently, in the work of Muzzaffar and Williams, and in that of Radchenko and Zagier. Analytic continuation of our generalization of $\Theta(z, x)$ is also accomplished which allows us to obtain transformations between certain double series and Herglotz-type integrals or their explicit evaluations.

Vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.

Abstract:We give explicit expressions (or at least an algorithm of obtaining such expressions) of the coefficients of the Laurent series expansions of the Euler-Zagier multiple zeta-functions at any integer points. The main tools are the Mellin-Barnes integral formula and the harmonic product formulas. The Mellin-Barnes integral formula is used in the induction process on the number of variables, and the harmonic product formula is used to show that the Laurent series expansion outside the domain of convergence can be obtained from that inside the domain of convergence.

Abstract:For a germ of a meromorphic function f=P/Q, we offer notions of the monodromy operators at zero and at infinity. If the holomorphic functions P and Q are non-degenerated with respect to their Newton diagrams, we give an analogue of the formula of Varchenko for the zeta-functions of these monodromy operators.

Abstract:By applying Slater's transformation formulas for the bilateral basic hypergeometric series ${}_2\psi_{2}$, we derive three type translation formulas for the generalized Zwegers' $\mu$-function (``continuous $q$-Hermite function'') which was introduced by Shibukawa--Tsuchimi (SIGMA, 2023). From some Bailey's transformation formula of ${}_2\psi_{2}$, we also give a formula for the expression of the generalized Zwegers' $\mu$-function by some very-well-poised bilateral basic hypergeometric series ${}_4\psi_{8}$. As an application of this new expression formula for the generalized Zwegers' $\mu$-function, we obtain some new Fourier expansions for the Weierstrass and Jacobi elliptic functions.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{X}$ and $\mathfrak{X}'$ be two smooth projective varieties over the ring of integers of a $p$-adic field $\textbf{K}$ with generic fibers being $X$ and $X'$. We introduce a (family of) good $s$-norms on the pluricanonical spaces of $X$ and $X'$, which are called global Igusa zeta functions in $s$, and show that if the $r$-canonical maps send $X$ and $X'$ birationally to their images respectively, then any isometry between $H^0(X, rK_X)$ and $H^0(X', rK_{X'})$ with respect to this $s$-norm (for some $s > 0$ and $s \neq 1/r$) induces $K$-equivalence on the $\textbf{K}$-points between $X$ and $X'$.

Abstract:Let $p$ and $q$ be distinct prime numbers, with $q\equiv 1\pmod{12}$. Let $N$ be a positive integer that is coprime to $pq$. We prove a formula relating the Hasse--Weil zeta function of the modular curve $X_0(qN)_{\mathbb{F}_q}$ to the Ihara zeta function of the $p$-isogeny graphs of supersingular elliptic curves defined over $\overline{\mathbb{F}_q}$ equipped with a $\Gamma_0(N)$-level structure. When $N=1$, this recovers a result of Sugiyama.

Abstract:The theory of multiple Gamma functions, which was recently revived in the study of the determinants of the Laplacians, was applied in several earlier works in order to evaluate some families of series involving the Riemann Zeta function as well as to compute the determinants of the Laplacians. Here, in the present paper, the authors address the converse problem and apply various (known or new) formulas for series associated with the Zeta and related functions with a view to developing the corresponding theory of multiple Gamma functions and then using these series to compute the determinants of the Laplacians on the n-dimensional unit sphere Sn (n=5,6,7) explicitly.

Here we focus on the case when $a_{k}$ is arithmetic sequence. By this summation we obtain many equalities involve Hurwitz zeta function and Gammma function.

Abstract: According to Sakellaridis, many zeta integrals in the theory of automorphic forms can be produced or explained by appropriate choices of a Schwartz space of test functions on a spherical homogeneous space, which are in turn dictated by the geometry of affine spherical embeddings. We pursue this perspective by developing a local counterpart and try to explicate the functional equations. These constructions are also related to the $L^2$-spectral decomposition of spherical homogeneous spaces in view of the Gelfand-Kostyuchenko method. To justify this viewpoint, we prove the convergence of $p$-adic local zeta integrals under certain premises, work out the case of prehomogeneous vector spaces and re-derive a large portion of Godement-Jacquet theory. Furthermore, we explain the doubling method and show that it fits into the paradigm of $L$-monoids developed by L. Lafforgue, B. C. Ngo et al., by reviewing the constructions of Braverman and Kazhdan (2002). In the global setting, we give certain speculations about global zeta integrals, Poisson formulas and their relation to period integrals.

Abstract:Lustig gave an infinite product formula for the zeta function of a commutative two-dimensional regular local ring with finite residue field. We extend this to the noncommutative setting with a method based on filtration by an invertible ideal. Our main formula may be viewed as a two-dimensional analogue of Hey's formula. In fact, upon revisiting Solomon's proof of Hey's formula, we find that our main two-dimensional zeta functions depend only on Artin-Wedderburn data for the top. This applies to zeta functions of local models for terminal orders on arithmetic surfaces, and we even suggest an analogy between our main formula and the Gottsche-Larsen-Lunts formula for the generating function of Hilbert schemes of a smooth surface. Our method gives us a more general and complicated formula than our main formula. It does, however, simplify to a general principle about the extent to which the zeta function of a module is determined by the module modulo an invertible ideal. The general formula also gives us a weird identity involving q-binomial coefficients.

Abstract:Langlands provides a formula for certain product of orbital integrals in $GL(2, \mathbb{Q})$. Its generalization has become an important question for the strategy of Beyond Endoscopy. Arthur predicts this formula should coincide with a product of polynomials associated to zeta functions of orders constructed by Zhiwei Yun. In this paper we compute, for a certain family of orders, explicit formulas for these zeta functions by a recursive method. We use these zeta functions in a further paper to prove that Arthur's prediction is correct.

Abstract:We prove the uniqueness of a translation invariant extension to non integer order classical symbols of the ordinary discrete sum on $L^1$-symbols, which we then describe using an Hadamard finite part procedure for sums over integer points of infinite unions of nested convex polytopes in $\R^d$. This canonical regularised sum is the building block to construct meromorphic extensions of the ordinary sum on holomorphic symbols. Explicit formulae for the complex residues at their poles are given in terms of noncommutative residues of classical symbols, thus extending results of Guillemin, Sternberg and Weitsman. These formulae are then applied to zeta functions associated with quadratic forms and with Laplacians on tori.

Abstract:The Newton power-sum formulas relate to sums of powers of roots of a polynomial with the coefficients of the polynomial. In this paper we obtain formulas that relate to sums of reciprocal powers of zeros and poles of entire and meromorphic functions with the coefficients of their Taylor series expansions. We then derive the recurrence formulas for the Riemann zeta function at integer arguments and compute the sums extended over the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a formula that connects two variants of multiple zeta values; multitangent functions and symmetric multiple zeta values. As an application of this formula, we give two results. First, we prove Bouillot's conjecture on the structures of the algebra of multitangent functions. Second, we prove an analogue of the linear part of Kawashima's relation for symmetric multiple zeta values.
