Abstract:We present for Moller scattering all planar and non-planar two-loop double-box integrals with the exchange of three electroweak gauge bosons, among which at least one is a photon. These integrals are relevant for the NNLO electroweak corrections to Moller scattering.

Abstract:The Moller experiment and the P2 experiment aim at measuring the weak mixing angle at low scales. The Moller experiment uses $e^- e^- \rightarrow e^- e^-$-scattering, the P2 experiment uses $e^- N \rightarrow e^- N$-scattering. In both cases, two-loop electroweak corrections have to be taken into account, and here in particular diagrams which give rise to large logarithms. In this paper we compute a set of two-loop electroweak Feynman integrals for point-like particles, which are obtained from a box integral by the insertion of a light fermion loop. By rationalising all occurring square roots we show that these Feynman integrals can be expressed in terms of multiple polylogarithms. We present the results in a form, which makes the large logarithms manifest. We provide highly efficient numerical evaluation routines for these integrals.

Abstract: A complete, gauge-invariant computation of two loop virtual corrections involving closed fermion loops to the polarized M{\o}ller scattering asymmetry is presented. The set of contributions involving two closed fermion loops and the set involving one closed fermion loop are numerically similar in magnitude to the one-loop bosonic corrections, but coincidentally cancel to yield a smaller overall correction of 1% relative to the tree level asymmetry. NLO QCD corrections to triple collinear splitting functions

Abstract:In this article, we study the triple-collinear limit of scattering amplitudes, focusing the discussion in processes which include at least one photon. To deal with infrared divergences we applied dimensional regularization (DREG) and we worked in the time-like (TL) kinematical region in order to ensure the validity of strict-collinear factorization. Both polarized and unpolarized splitting functions were obtained using independent codes, which allowed to implement a first cross-check among them. The divergent structure of all the triple-collinear splittings was compared with the Catani's formula, and we found a complete agreement. Moreover, in the polarized case, this comparison imposed additional constraints in the finite part of some master integrals (MI). The analysis of photon-started splittings led to very compact expressions, because of gauge invariance. These contributions were identified with the Abelian terms of the remaining splitting functions, which constitutes another cross-check of the results.

Abstract:The planar two-loop scalar Feynman integrals contributing to the massive NNLO QCD corrections for $W$-boson pair production via quark-antiquark annihilation can be classified into three family branches, each of which is reduced to a distinct set of master integrals (MIs), totaling $27$, $45$ and $15$, respectively. These MIs are analytically calculated using the method of differential equations, with solutions expanded as Taylor series in the dimensional regulator $\epsilon$. For the first two family branches, the differential systems can be successfully transformed into canonical form by adopting appropriate bases of MIs. This enables the MIs of these family branches to be expressed either as Goncharov polylogarithms (GPLs) or as one-fold integrals over GPLs, up to $\mathcal{O}(\epsilon^4)$. In contrast, the differential system for the third family branch can only be cast into a form linear in $\epsilon$ due to the presence of elliptic integrals. The solution to this linear-form differential system is expressed in an iterated form owing to the strictly lower-triangular structure of the coefficient matrices at $\epsilon = 0$. Our analytic expressions for these MIs are verified with high accuracy against the numerical results from the \texttt{AMFlow} package.

Abstract:We discuss the two-loop integrals necessary for evaluating massless 2 to 2 scattering amplitudes. As a test process, we consider the leading colour two-loop contribution to qqbar to q'qbar'. We show that for physical scattering processes the two Smirnov-Veretin planar box graphs I1 and I2 are accompanied by factors of 1/(D-4) thereby necessitating a knowledge of both I1 and I2 to O(epsilon). Using an alternative basis I1 and the irreducible numerator integral I3, the factors of 1/(D-4) disappear.

Abstract:The physics case and an experimental overview of the MOLLER (Measurement Of a Lepton Lepton Electroweak Reaction) experiment at the 12 GeV upgraded Jefferson Lab are presented. A highlight of the Fundamental Symmetries subfield of the 2007 NSAC Long Range Plan was the SLAC E158 measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry $A_{PV}$ in polarized electron-electron (Møller) scattering. The proposed MOLLER experiment will improve on this result by a factor of five, yielding the most precise measurement of the weak mixing angle at low or high energy anticipated over the next decade. This new result would be sensitive to the interference of the electromagnetic amplitude with new neutral current amplitudes as weak as $\sim 10^{-3}\cdot G_F$ from as yet undiscovered dynamics beyond the Standard Model. The resulting discovery reach is unmatched by any proposed experiment measuring a flavor- and CP-conserving process over the next decade, and yields a unique window to new physics at MeV and multi-TeV scales, complementary to direct searches at high energy colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The experiment takes advantage of the unique opportunity provided by the upgraded electron beam energy, luminosity, and stability at Jefferson Laboratory and the extensive experience accumulated in the community after a round of recent successfully completed parity-violating electron scattering experiments

The two-loop coefficient functions for double deeply virtual Compton scattering

Abstract:Making use of conformal symmetry of large-$n_f$ QCD in $d=4-2\epsilon$ dimensions at the Wilson-Fischer fixed point, we calculate the two-loop coefficient functions in the operator product expansion of two electromagnetic currents in general kinematics with two different photon virtualities. This result is necessary for the description of the double deeply virtual Compton scattering to the next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy, but is also interesting for a range of other two-photon processes. We present analytic expression for the coefficient function in momentum fraction space in the $\overline{\text{MS}}$ scheme and study its numerical impact on the Compton form factors for a simple model of the generalized parton distributions. The calculated corrections turn out to be large and are significant for the kinematics of proposed experiments.

Abstract:We calculate the polarized massive two–loop pure singlet Wilson coefficient contributing to the structure functions g1(x,Q2) analytically in the whole kinematic region. The Wilson coefficient contains Kummer–elliptic integrals. We derive the representation in the asymptotic region Q2≫m2, retaining power corrections, and in the threshold region. The massless Wilson coefficient is recalculated. The corresponding twist–2 corrections to the structure function g2(x,Q2) are obtained by the Wandzura–Wilczek relation. Numerical results are presented.

Abstract:We present the analytic and compact two-loop helicity amplitudes for QCD and QED corrections to the light-by-light scattering process with massive internal fermions. We express the master integrals either in terms of multiple polylogarithms or in terms of iterated integrals with dlog one-forms. We also elaborate on optimizing the analytic results for each phase-space region. This makes the numerical evaluation of the scattering amplitudes fast, stable and suitable for phenomenological applications.

Muon-electron scattering at NNLO with McMule

Abstract:A recently proposed experiment, MUonE, aims to extract the hadronic vacuum polarisation contribution to the muon g-2 from muon-electron scattering at low energy. The extrapolation requires that both experimental and theoretical uncertainties do not exceed 10 ppm. This corresponds, at least, to next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) QED corrections to $e \mu \to e \mu$. I will discuss the implementation of a Monte Carlo integrator for this process in the McMule framework <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2212.06481" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2212.06481">arXiv:2212.06481</a>, which provides infrared-safe differential results at said order in QED. An approximation of the MUonE setup provides some phenomenological results and sheds light on the need for beyond-NNLO corrections, which are currently under study within McMule.

Abstract:We compute the complete set of two-loop master integrals for the scattering of four massless particles and a massive one. Our results are ready for phenomenological applications, removing a major obstacle to the computation of complete next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to processes such as the production of a $H/Z/W$ boson in association with two jets at the LHC. Furthermore, they open the door to new investigations into the structure of quantum-field theories and provide precious analytic data for studying the mathematical properties of Feynman integrals.

Abstract:Two-loop multi-leg form factors in off-shell kinematics require knowledge of planar and nonplanar double box Feynman diagrams with massless internal propagators. These are complicated functions of Mandelstam variables and external particle virtualities. The latter serve as regulators of infrared divergences, thus making these observables finite in four space-time dimensions. In this paper, we use the method of canonical differential equations for the calculation of (non)planar double box integrals in the near mass-shell kinematical regime, i.e., where virtualities of external particles are much smaller than the Mandelstam variables involved. We deduce a basis of master integrals with uniform transcendental weight based on the analysis of leading singularities employing the Baikov representation as well as an array of complementary techniques. We dub the former asymptotically canonical since it is valid in the near mass-shell limit of interest. We iteratively solve resulting differential equations up to weight four in terms of multiple polylogarithms.

Abstract:We present a complete reevaluation of the irreducible two-loop vacuum-polarization correction to the photon propagator in quantum electrodynamics, i.e. with an electron-positron pair in the fermion propagators. The integration is carried out by reducing the integrations to a limited set of master integrals, which are calculated using integration-by-parts identities. Dimensional regularization is used in D=4−2ε dimensions, and on-mass shell renormalization is employed. The one-loop effect is given to order ε , to be combined with the 1/ε divergence of the two-loop amplitude. Master integrals are given. Final evaluations of two-loop energy shifts for 1S , 2S , and 2P states are done analytically, and results are presented, with an emphasis on muonic hydrogen. For relativistic Dirac-Coulomb reference states, higher-order coefficients are obtained for the Zα -expansion. Abstract:We evaluate, in the high-energy limit, $s\gg|t|\gg m^2\gg\lambda^2$, the sum of amplitudes corresponding to a class of Feynman diagrams describing two-loop virtual photonic corrections to Bhabha scattering. The diagrams considered are box and crossed box diagrams with an extra photon decorating one of the fermion lines. The mathematical method employed is that of Mellin transforms. In the eikonal approximation, this sum of two-loop amplitudes has previously been evaluated, and found to be equal to the sum of the box and crossed box amplitudes, multiplied by the electric form factor of the electron. We obtain a similar factorization, but with the form factor replaced by another expression involving the logarithms $\log(\lambda^2/m^2)$ and $\log(\lambda^2/|t|)$.

Two-Loop Divergences of Massive Scattering Amplitudes in Non-Abelian Gauge Theories

Abstract:The infrared divergences of QCD scattering amplitudes can be derived from an anomalous dimension Γ, which is a matrix in color space and depends on the momenta and masses of the external partons. It has recently been shown that in cases where there are at least two massive partons involved in the scattering process, starting at two-loop order Γ receives contributions involving color and momentum correlations between three (and more) partons. The three-parton correlations can be described by two universal functions F1 and f2. In this paper these functions are calculated at two-loop order in closed analytic form and their properties are studied in detail. Both functions are found to be suppressed like (m4/s2) in the limit of small parton masses, in accordance with mass factorization theorems proposed in the literature. On the other hand, both functions are (1) and even diverge logarithmically near the threshold for pair production of two heavy particles. As an application, we calculate the infrared poles in the q → t and gg → t scattering amplitudes at two-loop order.

Abstract:We study two-loop corrections to the scattering amplitude of four massive leptons in quantum electrodynamics. These amplitudes involve previously unknown elliptic Feynman integrals, which we compute analytically using the differential equation method. In doing so, we uncover the details of the elliptic geometry underlying this scattering amplitude and show how to exploit its properties to obtain compact, easy-to-evaluate series expansions that describe the scattering of four massive leptons in QED in the kinematical regions relevant for Bhabha and Møller scattering processes.
