Abstract:In this article, we study the various fundamental groupoid schemes and semi-finite bundles on complex tori and Riemann surfaces. We have computed fundamental groupoid of anisotropic conic, Klein bottle and abelian varieties. We also study the relation among various fundamental groupoid schemes by considering their representations.

Abstract:We want to discuss various applications of modular forms in topology. The starting point is elliptic genus and its generalizations. The main techniques are the Atiyah-Singer index theorem, the Atiyah-Bott-Segal-Singer Lefschetz fixed point formula, Kac-Moody Lie algebras, modular forms and theta-functions. Just as the representations theory of classical Lie groups has close connections with the Atiyah-Singer index formula as exposed in [A1], the representation theory of loop groups plays very important role in our study. One of the most important new features of loop group representations is the modular invariance of the Kac-Weyl character formula, which allows us to derive many interesting new results and to unify many important old results in topology. In this paper we will develope along this line. We hope that the other features of loop group representations, such as fusion rules and tensor category structure may also be applied to topology. See the discussions in §3. The contents of this paper is organized in the following way. In §1 we introduce elliptic genus by combining index theory and the representation theory of loop groups. The relation of the classical index theory with representation theory of classical Lie groups was discussed in [A1]. Here one finds that just replacing the classical Lie groups by their corresponding loop groups, we get the complete theory of elliptic genus, or more generally the index theory on loop space. Especially the Dirac operator and the Witten genus of loop space are derived more convincingly in this way. Then all of the other well-known properties of elliptic genus, such as functional equations, characterizations by rigidity and fibrations, can be easily obtained. Here we only pick some less well-known results to discuss, for example the expressions of the parameters in elliptic genera in terms of theta-functions. Different from the classical Lie group case, a new feature in our situation appears, the modular invariance which, by combining with index theory, is applied to obtain many new topological results. This is the content of §2. Most results in this section are special cases of more general results. For simplicity we only give the main ideas of the proofs. We make some geometric constructions in §3 to understand elliptic cohomology. The construction in §3.3 is motivated by the vertex operator algebra construction of the monstrous moonshine module. Abstract:Finsler manifolds are differentiable manifolds equipped with Riemannian metrics without the quadratic restriction. In this paper, some recent developments and new results on curvatures and fundamental groups of Finsler manifolds are summarized briefly. The contents contain the growth of fundamental groups, the entropy of manifolds and fundamental groups, the first Betti number and the finiteness of fundamental groups.

Abstract:For any almost-simple group $G$ over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic zero, we describe the automorphism group of the moduli space of semistable $G$-bundles over a connected smooth projective curve $C$ of genus at least $4$. The result is achieved by studying the singular fibers of the Hitchin fibration. As a byproduct, we provide a description of the irreducible components of two natural closed subsets in the Hitchin basis: the divisor of singular cameral curves and the divisor of singular Hitchin fibers.

Semi-coarse Spaces: Fundamental Groupoid and the van Kampen Theorem

Abstract:In algebraic topology, the fundamental groupoid is a classical homotopy invariant which is defined using continuous maps from the closed interval to a topological space. In this paper, we construct a semi-coarse version of this invariant, using as paths a finite sequences of maps from $\mathbb{Z}_1$ to a semi-coarse space, connecting their tails through semi-coarse homotopy. In contrast to semi-coarse homotopy groups, this groupoid is not necessarily trivial for coarse spaces, and, unlike coarse homotopy, it is well-defined for general semi-coarse spaces. In addition, we show that the semi-coarse fundamental groupoid which we introduce admits a version of the Van Kampen Theorem.

Abstract:For a $G$-space $X$, we introduce the notion of sectional category with respect to $G$. We establish properties analogous to those of the classical sectional category. As a consequence of the sectional category with respect to the group $G$, we obtain $G$-homotopy invariants: the LS category with respect to $G$, the sequential topological complexity with respect to $G$, and the strong sequential topological complexity with respect to $G$, denoted by $\mathrm{cat}_G^{\#}(X)$, $\mathrm{TC}_{k,G}^{\#}(X)$, and $\mathrm{TC}_{k,G}^{\#,*}(X)$, respectively. We explore several relationships between these invariants and well-known ones, such as the LS category, the sequential (equivariant) topological complexity, and the sequential strong equivariant topological complexity. We also prove some fundamental properties of these invariants. Additionally, we derive several additive upper bounds on the sequential topological complexity of the total spaces of fibre bundles involving these newly introduced invariants. As applications of these results, we compute the sequential topological complexity of various generalized projective product spaces.

Semistable Higgs bundles and representations of algebraic fundamental groups: Positive characteristic case

Abstract: Let $k$ be an algebraic closure of finite fields with odd characteristic $p$ and a smooth projective scheme $\mathbf{X}/W(k)$. Let $\mathbf{X}^0$ be its generic fiber and $X$ the closed fiber. For $\mathbf{X}^0$ a curve Faltings conjectured that semistable Higgs bundles of slope zero over $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ correspond to genuine representations of the algebraic fundamental group of $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ in his $p$-adic Simpson correspondence. This paper intends to study the conjecture in the characteristic $p$ setting. Among other results, we show that isomorphism classes of rank two semistable Higgs bundles with trivial chern classes over $X$ are associated to isomorphism classes of two dimensional genuine representations of $\mathbf{X}^0$ and the image of the association contains all irreducible crystalline representations. We introduce intermediate notions strongly semistable Higgs bundles and quasi-periodic Higgs bundles between semistable Higgs bundles and representations of algebraic fundamental groups. We show that quasi-periodic Higgs bundles give rise to genuine representations and strongly Higgs semistable are equivalent to quasi-periodic. We conjecture that a Higgs semistable bundle is indeed strongly Higgs semistable.

Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to study relative versions of the category of modules over the isotropic motivic Brown-Peterson spectrum, with a particular emphasis on their cellular subcategories. Using techniques developed by Levine, we equip these categories with motivic $t$-structures, whose hearts are Tannakian categories over ${\mathbb F}_2$. This allows to define isotropic motivic fundamental groups, and to interpret relative isotropic Tate motives in the heart as their representations. Moreover, we compute these groups in the cases of the punctured projective line and split tori. Finally, we also apply Spitzweck's derived approach to establish an identification between relative isotropic Tate motives and representations of certain affine derived group schemes, whose 0-truncations coincide with the aforementioned isotropic motivic fundamental groups.

Abstract:Let G be a semi-simple simply connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field k of arbitrary characteristic. Let B be a Borel subgroup of G containing a maximal torus T of G . Let W be the Weyl group of G with respect to T . For an arbitrary sequence w=(si1,si2,...,sir) of simple reflections in W , let Zw be the Bott-Samelson-Demazure-Hansen variety (BSDH-variety for short) corresponding to w . Let Zw ̃:=G×BZw denote the fibre bundle on G/B whose fibre over B/B is Zw . In this article, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the varieties Zw and Zw ̃ to be Fano (weak-Fano). We show that a line bundle on Zw is globally generated if and only if it is nef. We show that the Picard group Pic(Zw ̃) is free abelian and we construct a O(1) -basis. We characterize the nef, globally generated, ample and very ample line bundles on Zw ̃ in terms of the O(1) -basis.

The Unipotent Tropical Fundamental Group

Abstract:We define the unipotent tropical fundamental group of a polyhedral complex in $\mathbb{R}^n$ as the Tannakian fundamental group of the category of unipotent tropical vector bundles with integrable connection. We show that it is computable in that it satisfies a Seifert--Van Kampen theorem and has a description for fans in terms of a bar complex. We then review an analogous classical object, the unipotent de Rham fundamental group of a schön subvariety of a toric variety. Our main result is a correspondence theorem between classical and tropical unipotent fundamental groups: there is an isomorphism between the unipotent completion of the fundamental group of a generic fiber of a tropically smooth family over a disc and the tropical unipotent fundamental group of the family's tropicalization. This theorem is established using Kato--Nakayama spaces and a descent argument. It requires a slight enlargement of the relevant categories, making use of enriched structures and partial compactifications.

Abstract:The proalgebraic fundamental group of a connected topological space $X$, recently introduced by the first author, is an affine group scheme whose representations classify local systems of finite-dimensional vector spaces on $X$. In this article, we further develop the theory of the proalgebraic fundamental group, in particular, we establish homotopy invariance and a Seifert-van Kampen theorem. To facilitate the latter, we study amalgamated free product of affine group schemes. We also compute the proalgebraic fundamental group of the arithmetically relevant Kucharcyzk-Scholze spaces and compare it to the motivic Galois group.

Abstract:We describe various approaches to understanding Fukaya categories of cotangent bundles. All of the approaches rely on introducing a suitable class of non-compact Lagrangian submanifolds. We review the work of Nadler-Zaslow [30, 29] and the authors [14], before discussing a new approach using family Floer cohomology [10] and the "wrapped Fukaya category". The latter, inspired by Viterbo's symplectic homology, emphasizes the connection to loop spaces, hence seems particularly suitable when trying to extend the existing theory beyond the simply connected case.

Abstract:For a path connected, locally path connected and semilocally simply connected space $X$, let $\Pi_1(X)$ denote its topologised fundamental groupoid as established in the first article of this series. Let $\mathcal{E}$ be the category of $\Pi_1(X)$-spaces in which the momentum maps are local homeomorphisms. We show that this category is isomorphic to that of covering spaces of $X$. Using this, we give different characterisations for free or proper actions of the fundamental groupoid in $\mathcal{E}$.

Abstract:We define formal orbifolds over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic as curves together with some branch data. Their étale coverings and their fundamental groups are also defined. These fundamental group approximates the fundamental group of an appropriate affine curve. We also define vector bundles on these objects and the category of orbifold bundles on any smooth projective curve. Analogues of various statement about vector bundles which are true in characteristic zero are proved. Some of these are positive characteristic avatar of notions which appear in the second author's work ([Par]) in characteristic zero.

Abstract:Let $\mathscr {C}(G,H,\psi)$ be a finite group scheme-theoretical category over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p\ge 0$ as introduced by the first author. For any indecomposable exact module category over $\mathscr {C}(G,H,\psi)$, we classify its simple objects and provide an expression for their projective covers, in terms of double cosets and projective representations of certain closed subgroup schemes, which upgrades a result by Ostrik for group-theoretical fusion categories. As a byproduct, we describe the simples and indecomposable projectives of $\mathscr {C}(G,H,\psi)$, and parametrize the Brauer-Piccard group of ${\rm Coh}(G)$ for any finite connected group scheme $G$. Finally, we apply our results to describe the blocks of the center of ${\rm Coh}(G)$.

On some topological equivalences for moduli spaces of $G$-bundles

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective curve of genus $g \geq 3$, and let $G$ be a nontrivial connected reductive affine algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$. Examining the moduli spaces of regularly stable $G$-Higgs bundles and holomorphic $G$-connections with a fixed topological type $d\in \pi_1(G)$ over $X$, we establish that the $k$-th homotopy groups of these two moduli spaces are isomorphic for $k \leq 2g-4$. We also prove that the mixed Hodge structures on the rational cohomology groups of these two moduli spaces are pure and isomorphic. Lastly, we explicitly describe the homotopy groups of the moduli space of $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{C})$-connections over $X$.

Abstract:We consider a $J_b(\mathbb{Q}_p)$-torsor on the supersingular locus of the Siegel threefold constructed by Caraiani-Scholze, and show that it induces an isomorphism between a free group on a finite number of generators, and the group of self-quasi-isogenies of a supersingular abelian surface, respecting a principal polarization and a prime-to-$p$ level structure. Along the way, we classify certain pro-étale torsors in terms of the pro-étale fundamental group, describe the category of geometric covers of non-normal schemes, and use this to compute pro-étale fundamental groups of curves.

Abstract:We determine the 0-th Hochschild homology of the associative algebra of simplicial cochains valued in a PID: it consists of the ``finite-type" homotopy invariants of free loops, equivalently finite-type class functions on the fundamental group. One major motivation for this calculation is joint work in progress aiming to geometrically construct invariants of links in the 3-sphere as well as other $3$-manifolds, and to realize Milnor's linking numbers as evaluations of 0-th Hochschild homology classes.
